URW: A Wrestling Rebellion

Recommended Posts

One night, I turn on the TV and I'm watching Monday Night Raw. Obviously and as usual, the product takes one step forward and two steps back. Maybe WWE has stopped trying because they became a global empire with an upcoming TV network. I'm sitting thinking to myself, "Why does Vince McMahon" think that wrestling is his industry? He revolutionized it at one point but I don't see him doing anything but scratching his head behind the scenes while his big-nosed son in law holds the true talent back. The WWE isn't giving the fans what they want anymore. There's guys on the indie scene like Low Ki and Chris Mordetzky (Chris Masters more familiarly) that aren't getting the chance to showcase their talent. I'm going to do my best to make wrestling fun again, give the people what they wanna see whether it's blood, guts, cheap women on free television, heavyweights, lightweights, lucha libre, power, or hardcore. How am I gonna do that? All it took was one announcement.

I'm just beginning URW. However, I'm off to a rough start. I know I can't sign people at the snap of a finger but this is hard to do in general. Anyway, I might as well start strong. I spent the last night surfing the internet and I see this guy in his twenties working like he's been in the business for thirty years. He can move well in the ring which makes up for his inability to cut a seriously believable promo. I'm watching this guys matches and he is amazing in every single match I watched. I signed him for $1,500 per appearance +travel which is reasonable compared to what I was going to offer him based on his in-ring skills. This guy will be a definite in-ring asset to URW.

I was able to acquire two former ROH World champions. They have actually been ROH World Tag Team champions together and one of them is the first ever Triple Crown winner in the promotion. One of them is noted for their submission ability (although that applies for the other as well) and the other is known for their stiff kicks and intense MMA-style striking. Getting these guys in my company were a no-brainer.

After watching his impressive matches with El Generico, and his hilarious AND entertaining feuds with guys like Ric Flair. I knew I had to sign this guy.

Perhaps the biggest signing yet, although all of my signeees are under pay-per-appearance. This guy is known as a multi-time tag team champion, a former multi-time Intercontinental Champion with his former employer, World Wrestling Entertainment. Unfortunately, this guy has a reputation of putting his girlfriend before the business in the worst ways and he has a history of being a prima-donna. Keeping his success, popularity, skills, and attitude in mind, let's see where this goes.

I met with another future signee. He was stocky in size, but he definitely had the mic skills to become someone in the business. URW could definitely make some money off of this guy.

This guy has been exciting to watch since 2002. His matches with the likes of Christopher Daniels haven't gone unnoticed and after being sorely underutlized by the WWE and leaving his contract during 2010 holiday season, now's my chance to get him before anyone else does.

After I managed to sign the American Wolves, I had another experienced tag team to meet with and sign. Both of them are former champions in their respective divisions. Both of them are former tag team champions as a team as well. Speed, excitement, what more can you ask for from these motor city natives?

Austin Aries is the personification of all-rounder. He can get technical and do high-flying, ground-breaking daredevil moves without being labelled a "spot monkey". PWG, TNA, DGUSA, Evolve, ROH. He's been to those companies and he's the first ever two time Ring of Honor World Champion. This guy has definitely proven that he is the best of the best and I'm loving myself for signing him to URW.

El Generico is definitely not generic by any means. The ability to perform well on any show will help our roster but the whole "comedy" gimmick might holf him back from becoming a true star.

The Briscoe Brothers are quite possibly the best modern day smashmouth brawl-heavy tag team ever. Jay and Mark are as good together as they are by themselves, but I can't say I want to split Dem Boys up anytime soon.

6'4, 230 lbs., and striking power. These descriptions fit one man......Chris Hyde. I've seen him in ROH and his matches with Bryan Danielson and Lance Storm continuously remind me that Chris Hyde is definitely one of a kind and he's working in Ultimate Rebellion Wrestling.

Fergal Devitt, Prince Devitt, whatever you want to call him. He has great performing ability and although it was hell to settle his work visa, we got the Irishman for URW.
