Guest codey
EDIT: I guess this is what I get for trying to post on a phone. Title should read Anyone have any pets! I figured this would be a fun thread to start. I myself have a little dachshund named Red. Cutest pup in the world!
djthefunkchris
I grew up with dogs for the most part. Never wanted any, but well... My wife wanted a kitten. Now we have four. I never liked cats and always thought they were dumb in comparison. Well, I found out I'm about as wrong as I ever could have been. Not only are they alot smarter then I thought... They come when I call them (by name), they know how to turn a door knob, know exactly what is and is not "their food". I mean when I walk in the house, they will look and know if I have something for them or not, because they WILL inspect it. They all have different personalities. Pet's are theraputic, or at least seem to be. I come home from work, feed them (watch them get all excited while I prepare it), later they get on my lap one at a time (sometimes more... when they were little they could all fit, heck, they could all fit in one of my hands when they were all very little), and I pet them. Morning time is the funniest thing though... I try to get up but they try to hold me down for some reason. They come out of no where, and just put their front feet on top of me trying to hold me down in bed. This happens every morning, and it's like a game they play. I'll be sitting on the end of my bed after I get them off my chest, and they run to my legs and try to hold me down again. Never had a dog do that. BHK1978
I used to have a cat when I was a little kid and I loved it. The only problem I have with cats and dogs are they smell up your house and your clothes.
djthefunkchris
I used to have a cat when I was a little kid and I loved it. The only problem I have with cats and dogs are they smell up your house and your clothes. I keep all my clothes in a room they can't get in, just because that's true. The thing is, they only do if you let them get on you, etc... But I can't help it. Heck, I let them sleep with me. I have one that aggravates the other three, and will jump under the cover's to get away from them... they don't like under the covers, so they sit there and watch. Sometimes jumping on whatever moves (sometimes it's me stretching a leg or arm). However, what usually happens is they all fall asleep. I had Cocker Spaniel when I was a kid, named Stubby (his tail was short). We lived next door to a farmer for about five years *up till I was about 8 or 9 years old, and they had alot of "wild" cats. I guess they had them to kill the mice in the barns and fields or something (what I figure now, looking back at it). They didn't name them, just fed them cow milk, and didn't have them as pets... More like part of the farm (they had cows, pigs, and horses). I'd say the only thing they treated like a pet was two of the horses, and one of the cows. My dog used to play with the cats... even managed to climb trees with them.
moon_lit_tears
I used to have a cat when I was a little kid and I loved it. The only problem I have with cats and dogs are they smell up your house and your clothes.Never had that problem. Had a cat for about 9 years. Prettiest cat ever. He would curl up against my chest in bed with me. He was a birthday gift from my pop when I turned five. Was very smart. Like DJ said. He knew when it was his time to eat. He also knew he wasn't allowed in my mothers room. He would torment her though. He would sit just outside her room and meow until she either closed the door or picked him up. Later my step mom had a cat that no one could name and she got pregnant. So we amed her momma cat. She had six babies. So we each got a kitten. Mine was pure orange so for some reason I named her Peach. She was the runt of the litter. She almost didn't make it. She eventually passed on two years later. A few years ago an ex and I were leaving a shopping center and there was a box that had two kittens in it. I took them to the emergency vet and found out they were only a couple days old. The vet told me they most likely won't live. I had to feed them milk from bottles and *help* them go potty. Ever notice a mother cat licks her kittens? It's to stimulate their bodies into peeing, and pooping. Easiest was to get a q-tip with warm water. Every two hours. They both died about three weeks later. They were just too weak. I had them in a plastic bin with a large stuffed animal (vet said it would help) and each time I picked them up to feed them their meows just grew weaker. Finally I just coverd the bin and let them go in piece. They were gone within five minutes of each other. I cried for a while. I cared for them. Now I'd love a puppy because well they are very calming. My roommate has had very bad luck and most dogs think he's a chew toy, so no dog for now. That is just horrible, it was good that you took care of them while they were alive, not many people would do that. You say you have never had the animal smell problem. Is it because you have gotten used to the smell or is it that you just never had it?

Animals have a s ell yes, but keeping their litter box clean, keeping the animals clean, and lots of candles. You couldn't come in without seeing at least two candles lit. Not those cheap unscrnted ones either. I always had the really nice smelling ones. Yeah not many people would, but animals are about the only thing I've e er really been passionate about. Cats and dogs mostly. Though I loved my dads bird till my niece was born and the bird got jealous (yes parrots are territorial) and wanted to attack everyone. dvdWarrior
I currently have 6 kitties and a dog, Hugo. My dog Rocky passed away in October, so the neighbor gave me the pick of a litter of new puppies his dog had had. Hugo, like The Rock before him, loves it outside, and has a BAD habit: Rockishi used to jump up on me, and come up just a little bit short, with a PAINFUL impact down south.... if you smell what I'm cookin'. Hoogie also jumps up on me, but his habit is, well, he hooks my pants and yanks them right on down around my ankles. I have to be Johnny On The Spot when I'm out there with him, or else I end up embarrassed. The cats include the aged and sadly sickly Popeye, and Gracie Mae. If anyone remembers, all the way back in December of 2010, I mentioned in some thread in here that Gray Mae had "Graced" me with 4 kittens... well, it turns out there were actually 5, and 3 of them still live here. The other 2 live next door with another neighbor, whose cat was (obviously) a contributing father. Another kitty came to live with me through a relative - she said he looked JUST LIKE a cat I'd had when I was a kid, (he does), and that I might want to have him for that reason, (I did). steesh07
I have a cat, named Pascoe and he's clean unless he goes on the field behind my house and gets covered in seeds and grass. But he knows when he needs the toilet and meows at the door and does its business outside before coming back in for a sleep. Love my cat, had him for about 7 years. My neighbours can't stand him though, he attacks dogs and is scared of magpies for some reason.
Unregistered
I have had dogs all my life, minus 1 and a half years a little while ago after my damn near life long best friend/brother/dog died. At which point I got a cat on craigslist. Do not get a cat on craigslist. Also now I've gotten two small dogs, pappypoo's. I've had them for two years, and wow, I regret that decision too. I wonder if it's because my mind is skewed because of my time with my other dogs or what.
Jaysin
My ex and I got a puppy last January to celebrate us getting our first place together. A month later we broke up and the puppy became mine. I've through hell and back the last year or so and if I didn't have Benji, I don't think I would have made it.
Wrestling Century
I have an awesome Chihuahua-Terrier mix. I don't know what kind of terrier, nor do I know if it's dad was even a full Chihuahua, but it is adorable.
Remianen
I used to have a purebreed Shetland Sheepdog named Prince Kai. Gave him to a friend (my vet's assistant as it turns out) when it looked like I was moving to Miami (and the complex I was moving to didn't allow pets). Months later, I turned down the job but I couldn't take him back (Bonnie would've killed me ). Plus, she had him working on her parents' farm, keeping the livestock from breaking the fences and getting out. Assuming I can close on something in Charlotte, before I even buy furniture, I'm picking up a pair of (female) Jack Russell Terriers. I've always been a dog person. My mother's allergic to cats so there was no way I could have one of those. Plus, cats have never interested me after I started paying my own way. My friends have them but I always say, as much as vet bills and (good) food and grooming costs, if I have a pet, it damn well better be happy to see me when I come home. Dogs lose their minds when you get home while I've only seen three cats who will even acknowledge your existence (and those three cats grew up with dogs). Cat personalities seem a lot more varied and with my luck, I'd wind up with one like B'nai, my friend's Siamese cat who, when she comes home, will lift his head up, nod in an exaggerated fashion (think Bro Man from 'Martin') and go right back to whatever he was doing. alden
I have three pitbulls. They are huge babys lol. They get bad raps but just like any animal if you treat them well they will be good. Every time there is a storm they all hide under my bed.

Remianen
They get bad raps but just like any animal if you treat them well they will be good. They get bad raps because they're psycho (that's what that particular strain of the breed was bred to be). That's where the 'pit' comes from, after all. My neighbor has a Neapolitan Mastiff and a Great Dane. Talk about big babies. Problem is, he can't sneak into the house if he tried. When they bark, it's like subwoofers, in stereo. You can hear it down the street ("Oh, Kevin's home"). When either of them lays on the couch, aint no room for nobody else! God forbid you sit in their spot, they'll lay all on you (100-150lbs of dog all over your lap). Thought about getting a Dane but it doesn't fit. Kevin is 6'5, 275ish so those dogs fit him. I'll stick with my JRTs.

I have a black and tan Jack Russell called Sox (with a white underbelly). Had her for nearly two years now. She goes mental with excitement when I come home and she loves to play and kiss ang hug etc. Great dog; such character.
Guest Asaemon
I have one Bengal named Razor, after Canada's thrash metal gods. Last summer we also got a Maine Coon named Gizmo. He loves water, and usually sleeps in either of the sinks.

Blackman
I had a cat named snowball. She died, she died... Srly though, I've had LOTS of pets in the past. But all of them are dead atm. Currently, my dad had a couple of dogs who are in fact really tolerable. And that's coming from someone who obv doesn't like dogs. Had cats, rabbits, hamsters, cavia, fish, etc. The whole frickin' zoo. Why Astil, is that a set of MtG deckboxes?
