Running "2 feds" at regional??

Recommended Posts

Ive started yet another 0/0/0/0 game, this time with a real world mod, and have done ZERO cheating. Only time i even go into the editor is to see exactly how much pop ive gained/lost. Ive had a VERY slow build, in 2016 already and only at 34 pop in new england because of 4 or 5 other promotions are killing me in regional battles.

Anyway, Im looking to get to Cult so i can get some works to written contracts and land a tv/ppv deal. My question, has anyone played with the ideas of doing a brand split, and treating it has 2 completely diffrent companies? No crossover what so ever?

My theory is that once you build up to regional, you start hiring more expensive/talented workers, which costs more money. However, if I hire a bunch of 0-10 pop guys to do my B brand split shows in a diffrent region, i can build up that regions popularity cheaply. If i only need to put on a 30 or so rated show to boosts a regions pop that i only have 5 pop in from spillover, then why use my reg workers? why not use "jobbers"

Another point, i like to build up alot of my own stars. So while say, colby corino has 45 pop in new england, and im paying him 1000 a show, why waste him on another show in another area where is pop is only 5?

My idea would be to hire a whole separate roster just to do shows in the tristate area (my home region is new england), and run it just like im starting another 0/0/0/0 promotion. Once I get to cult and get a tv deal, start running matches from each "fed" on tv to build up the tristate areas workers in new england and vice versa. Then i can run an "invasion" angle of sorts and unify my roster into 1 group.

Anyone ever do anything like this? or have thoughts/opinions on this?

Uh, have you ever hit Cult before? You have to have $7 million in the bank and a 7 in negotiating skill along with a positive relationship on the roster to sign written deals. So, that's a really, really hard climb to do with a 4x0 game. Also, Cult will kill your finances so rushing to Cult is always a bad idea. Focus on signing a couple of people to nail your main event so win the Regional battles first. Then, get on TV and grow your fed up via TV. The only reason to run a 2nd show is to give yourself a double bump in your home area so you hit the spillover levels quicker. That's not a bad idea though uber-cheap nobodies won't help much there.

Yeah, smartman has a point. You're playing this as if reaching Cult is candyland. It's not. It's the kick in the teeth you rise above to get to candyland.

One thing smartman didn't mention is, you're getting your hat handed to you in regional battles in your home area. Do you REALLY want to subject yourself to battles on two fronts (Tri-State too)? That's the danger you run into when trying to speed through size levels.

I dont' recall negotiation being 7 is requirement, though it certainly does help.

7 million, something like Momentum in the 70s (or is it prestige?), and either 7 in negotiating or a positive relationship with someone on the roster. So getting, say, Matt Keith with Greg on the roster already is possible without a 7, but getting, say, Benny Benson would not be.

And I'm fairly certain personality plays a role as well...

I've never tried to do a brand split at any size smaller than Cult. Usually I don't have enough of a roster to make it worth my while anyways. At cult, what I usually do is split my roster into an A group and B group and use them to do house show type events (non-televised weekly shows, usually of medium size). This is similar to what WWF did in the early/mid 80's with its House Show circuit. They'd have one group main evented by Hogan, another by Macho, etc. In game this lets you build up your popularity faster. As I figure, the worker costs are the same, but I get twice the bang for the buck.

USPW-Cult is candyland, IMO. PPV and Television capable, able to get people signed to written contracts, etc...

With uspw I'm currently a year in and about 3 months of 80 rated shows from national.

You do need 7 negotiation to get written (72 momentum and 7 mil too) because I met the other two but had to use the Sophie cheat to get my skill to 7 since I didn't intend to play as USPW and thought I didn't need it.

Cult sucks because I'm popular enough for minimum national tv but can't get it, and on top of that I'm doing 1 season tv contracts cause I'm not allowed to get tv revenue. My saving grace has been house shows I've had to go to 6 per week to stabilize the profit since the original deal ended.

You only need the 7 negotiation to get writtens without restrictions. You only need the money and the momentum to get people who have positive relationships with other guys on your roster to written deals.

You have a very....humble opinion of candyland then. How much money does USPW make at Cult? My info might be out of date but last I checked, USPW loses money at Cult. The only difference is, they start with the ability to mitigate it better than most, having started with a large bankroll to begin with.

At National and above, it is impossible to lose money...unless your name is Eidenhoek. That's a far cry from 'we have a ton of money so can absorb the losses at Cult'. It's the reason the most common advice is to build a warchest at Regional before jumping to Cult. No one tells people to build a warchest at Cult to survive at National. Why? Because, as I said, at National, money is no longer an issue. That's what I mean about 'Candyland'.

The earliest I can go back is march 2010 my USPW made 238,299

Based on the trend i think i made nearly 100k in the first month

I stand corrected then. But USPW is not the typical Cult sized promotion, is it?

Basically, when I refer to 'candyland', I'm talking about the ability to make money, almost simply by existing. Good shows, bad shows, it doesn't matter, you make money. It's almost an unconscious type of thing. That is, unless you load your roster with 200+ overpaid people.
