crayon
So I started a thread a little while back about how Wasteland was getting a sequel, funded through Kickstarter. Well, it looks like Brian Fargo, and Tim Schafer, aren't the only ones bringing niche gaming back via the crowd sourcing route, as Jordan Weisman, the original creator of Shadowrun is also putting together a new Shadowrun game which is looking to be another excellent game for fans of oldschool RPG tactical gameplay. In similar news, Stoic, a small team that worked together on SW:TOR are doing a Norse RPG with turn-based tactical combat called The Banner Saga. And doing a 180 degree turn to adventure games, Al Lowe has come back out of retirement to help Replay Games do a modern version of Leisure Suit Larry 1, and Jane Jensen of Gabriel Knight fame is offering a years worth of adventure games from her new studio. Crazy times to be an oldschool gamer, that's for sure!

Dragonmack
Yeah, i put in a pledge for both wasteland and for shadowrun. Especially as Shadowrun will be a recreation of the actual boardgame based system. I was always hoping they would do that for Battletech, but it always ended up being some rts instead. It will be interesting to see how these games actually come out in the end.
Target Practice
Al Lowe back with the Leisure Suit Larry games? Shut up and take my money.
Remianen
There's also a Shadowrun MMO coming out. No, there's not. They have no funding, they have no staff (trying to do things in an open source manner), they have no game. Shadowrun is not the kind of property you want people trying to bring into the online space on a shoestring budget. As they themselves admit, the project "is on life support". That's closer to Terri Schiavo than a living thing with hope of making a full recovery. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Al Lowe project. I'm kinda afraid they'll bow to pressure and make it closer to Lego Star Wars than Grand Theft Auto (content & ratings wise). LSL was my guilty "adult" pleasure when I was a teenager. Apparently there were two MMOs in production then, because Shadowrun Online is still being made and the only one I knew about. It's a browser based MMO, but still, it's what I was talking about. http://www.shadowrun.com/

Al Lowe back with the Leisure Suit Larry games? Shut up and take my money. Sadly I played these games too.. The Shadowrun you guys are referring to. Is this the one for the Genesis (yay) or the SNES (boo, lame, suckage)
Target Practice
There's no disgrace in loving the LSL games - they were basically Monkey Island with an adult theme. Or they were up until number 6. After that... well, they kind of sucked.
Dragonmack
YAY! Sadly I played these games too.. The Shadowrun you guys are referring to. Is this the one for the Genesis (yay) or the SNES (boo, lame, suckage) This Shadowrun is actually going to be an adaptation of the original rpg developed back in 1990 by its original creator and will be a 2d turned based rpg. Its obviously not going to be big budget or graphically intensive ( especially as they are making the game for less than a million dollars) but it should be very true to the original source rpg. Anyone who wants to know more about it ( and maybe contribute, as the more contributions they have, the more content the game will have) can go to http://www.kickstarter.com and lookup Shadowrun Returns. Vladamire Dracos
He described it as playing sort of like X-Com. I'm watching it very closely myself.
alden
The Shadowrun you guys are referring to. Is this the one for the Genesis (yay) or the SNES (boo, lame, suckage) its funny.....I liked the snes version better then the genesis lol
moon_lit_tears
its funny.....I liked the snes version better then the genesis lol the SNS version had it's good points, bt I felt the game play really was crappy. I mean both games were pretty crappy based on Todays standards, but the Genesis version was so awesome. I loved the story they had (never payed attention to the sns version tbh) I'm not sure of the SNS story if it was the same, but the genesis version they Matrix battle thing was totally awesome and was my favorite part of the game. I tend to poo poo browser MMOs since many of them have a, ah, Zynga feel to them but this doesn't look bad. That big arse 'DONATE' button in the middle of the home page gives me pause but whatever gets it done.

Yeah, the browser based aspect kinda bugs me, but so far I've liked what they've displayed of it.
crayon
If anyone has the Diablo/Torchlight itch to scratch, or fondly remembers Titan Quest, here's another Kickstarter that may be up your ally

Grim Dawn

And as an aside, Wasteland 2's funding closed this morning/last night with over 3million dollars worth of pledges (including Paypal). A figure that managed to garauntee that a polished editor would be released for the game soon afterwards (yay)
