CharlieCornell
Wrestlemania XXVII April 1, 2011 | Atlanta, Georgia [backround]WrestleMania featured professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing feuds, plots, and storylines that played out on WWE's primary television programs. Wrestlers portrayed villains or heroes as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. The main feud held on the RAW brand was contested between Wade Barrett, Triple H and WWE Champion, John Cena. Since June 2010, Seven former NXT contestants, colectively named the Nexus, caused chaos in the WWE. The Nexus soon began a feud with John Cena, and the Nexus seemingly had come to an end, when John Cena's team WWE, had defeated the Nexus at Summerslam, in the process injuring both Skip Sheffield and Michael Tarver. However, when the Nexus stayed strong, and now consisting of Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, David Otunga and Heath Slater, assisted Barrett in winning the Royal Rumble in January. The next night, Barrett extended his Wrestlemania challenge to the Miz, but then RAW General Managaer Steve Austin announced that the Miz will be defending the WWE Championship in an elimination chamber match at the event of the same name. At the event, The Miz was pinned first, by John Morrison. This lead to Triple H and John Cena being the final two men, however, after an apparent accidental distraction by Stephanie McMahon, Cena was able to hit his signature Attitude Ajustment on Triple H, winning the WWE Championship in the process. The next night, Stephanie admitted she was the mastermind behind the Nexus, and that the 'bigger picture' was for a new era to be ushered in. She said she simply decided to cost Triple H the WWE Championship, because she didn't want him to come to harm. Fortunatley, After Triple H threatened divorce, McMahon relented, and announced that if he beat the entire Nexus group, along with all the season two rookies, the match at Wrestlemania would be a triple threat, with the help of John Cena, Hunter was successful, last pinning Kaval. The match was then set, and Cena and Triple H agreed on a loose alliance, to fend off the Nexus. The Main Feud held on Smackdown! was between the returning Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker, over Undertaker's winning streak at Wrestlemania. At the Royal Rumble event, Kane was dominating, but his reign of terror was ended by a returning Undertaker, who attacked him, tombstoned him, and threw him over the top rope. This feud bubbled over into both a last man standing match on Smackdown!, and The Undertaker eliminating Kane from the Elimination Chamber, at the event in which Lesnar was supposed to sit front row. (His first WWE Appearance in 6 years.) During the elimination Chamber (to decide the number one contender for Edge's World title) Only Undertaker and Del Rio remained (Christian was still in the match, as he had not been pinned, but was knocked out after Orton RKO'd him onto the steel floor.) Lesnar would leave his ringside seat, tear off the chamber door, and F5'd the Undertaker, costing him the win. Lesnar would return to Smackdown, and he said that he was the toughest guy in the WWE, back in his first stretch, and that the reason he left, was the Undertaker. He says after he defeated the Undertaker, twice, he was actually approached by Vince backstage, and asked to face him one last time... and throw the match! Lesnar said he was disgusted, and plays the footage of 'Taker challenging him at UFC 121. He then accepts that challenge... for Wrestlemania! Undertaker would appear subsequent weeks, brawling (and often being bested) with Lesnar. But the week before Wrestlemania, Undertaker said it's only fitting as, last time he faced Lesnar he lost in Hell in a Cell, that at wrestlemania, their match should be Hell in a Cell! The secondary feud on the RAW brand was between CM Punk, and the RAW General Manager, Steve Austin. After Austin was appointed as General Manager in December 2010, he instantly took a dislike to the cocky and brash CM Punk. He would punish Punk for both his attitude and poor performances, for example, suspending him for a week for brutalising R-Truth. He encouraged Punk to be the best, and said he believes he has potential, but nobody will believe he's the best, because he has to cheat to win! Punk made it to the final four in the royal rumble, before being eliminated by Triple H. Punk then set his sights on the WWE Championship, but after he cheated to beat Kofi Kingston in a qualifying match, the decision was reversed by Austin, and Punk was subsequently left off the card. At the event, Punk called out Austin, and said Austin is pathetic, trying to elevate the young talent he once held down with great force. Punk says the damage has been done to the WWE, and that's why "That assclown Mike Mizanin is running around with a spinning cereal toy on his shoulder, claiming to be a champion!" Punk then said he will solidify himself as the face of a new era, when he beats Austin at Wrestlemania, and extends a challenge, which is quickly denied, as Austin says he's retired. For the next few weeks, Punk would continuously bait Austin, calling him a coward who hides behind drink and a bad ass persona. He spoke on how Austin is a terrible role model, and again extended a challenge, but it was again denied. However, three weeks before the big show, Punk made the rivalry personal, as he hosted the first "CM Punk'd". His guest was Debra, and flanked by security, he encouraged Debra (Austin's ex-wife) to talk smack about Steve, which she did. However, when Austin came to the ring, Punk attacked Debra, and asked that, if Austin can attack her, why can't he? On the spot, Austin fought through several Security guards, as Punk escaped through the audience. The following RAW, Austin announced Punk was here-by suspended from RAW, but, he officially accepts Punk's challenge for Wrestlemania, as long as it's no holds barred! The secondary feud on Smackdown! was between Storyline brothers Edge & Christian, over the World Heavyweight Championship. The two began their careers together in the WWE (Then WWF), and teamed together for over half a decade, winning seven tag team championships together. However, despite their on screen diffrences and arguemnts, they remained best of friends. The team re-united during January 2011, and they teamed up to battle their respective rivals, Alberto Del Rio, and Kane. At the elimination chamber event, Del Rio pinned the Undertaker, following a F5 by Brock Lesnar. This led to both him and the audience to believe his was the victor, however, a barely conscious Christian managed to pin him with a school boy roll up from behind, earning him a shot at Edge's World title at Wrestlemania. The two brothers decided it would be best, and most fitting, if their World Title match at Wrestlemania, was a TLC Match. Both Edge and Christian seemed to be at peace with one another, agreeing that the best man will win. But in a surprising turn of events, after Del Rio attacked Christian following their match, Edge came to the ring to seemingly help Christian, but instead speared him, and hit him with a one man con chair toe, in the process, turning Edge heel, weeks before their match. On February 28, Shawn Michaels made his return to the WWE, as a special guest on RAW. He was greeted by his good friends, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & Triple H. After Wade Barrett & Justin Gabriel disrespected Shawn in the locker room, Gabriel & Slater faced off against the outsiders. The match ended in chaos, as Michaels superkicked Slater! The next RAW, Triple H said neither he or Cena has a chance at Wrestlemania, if the Nexus are at ringside. He then makes a proposition to Stephanie McMahon, where she can draw in more fans, AND possibly have the Nexus capture another win over some WWE Legends. He suggests a three on three match up, between Otunga, Gabriel & Slater and Michaels, Nash & Hall. After deliberation by Stephanie and Wade, the proposed match was accepted and granted, even leading to Michaels making his return to the ring early, defeating Slater in a short match. At the Royal Rumble event, both Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton made it to the final five, but Orton would be eliminated by Ziggler, after a cheap shot with a chair. However, after both men qaulified for the elimination chamber, a rivalry began to brew, which would boil over in the chamber match, when Orton eliminated Dolph Ziggler! Ziggler went into a fury, and began to attack Orton the following Smackdown! Ziggler enjoyed his sneak attacks from behind, but didn't however, seem quite as pleased with Teddy Long's announcement that the two would be facing off at Wrestlemania! Ziggler did take advantage of this oppertunity though, and even punted Randy Orton two night before the big showdown, leaving many fans pondering if he would even show up. Since late 2007, The Miz & John Morrison teamed up as the dirt sheet duo, winning two tag team championships. But in 2009, the two men went their separate ways, and engaged in a violent feud. After the Miz won the WWE Championship, and John Morrison won the number one contenders match at Armageddon, the two faced off at the Royal Rumble for the title. Morrison won, via countout, after Miz gave up and left the arena, leading to The Miz retaining his WWE Championship. Morrison vowed to take the title that is rightfully his, at Elimination Chamber, and, despite not winning, he did eliminate the Miz, and cost him the championship. Miz was enraged, and he and Alex Riley attacked Morrison the following night. When Miz complain to Sheriff Austin, Austin simply brushed him off, and signed a match between the two for Wrestlemania, much to Miz's dismay. The two former partners would continue to argue over who the lesser of the former team was, and eagerly awaited the matchup. In December, 'Dashing' Cody Rhodes sqaured off against Rey Mysterio, however, a botched 619 legitimately broke the nose of Rhodes. Rhodes, who underwent facial reconstruction surgery, accused Mysterio of forcing him to miss the Royal Rumble match and the Elimination Chamber match for the World Heavyweight Championship, as well as ruining his 'beauty'. On an edition of SmackDown, Cody's father, Dusty Rhodes, came out to talk to Mysterio and asked Cody to apologize for his accusation, but it turned out to be a setup to allow Cody to attack and unmask Mysterio. The next week Rhodes challenged Rey to a match at WrestleMania for his intercontinental championship, which was accepted by Mysterio. The two would then have several exchanges, with several outcomes, but on the final Smackdown! before Wrestlemania, Rhodes hit Mysterio with the cross rhodes, and celebrated with the intercontinental championship. Daniel Bryan shot to superstardom in 2010, competing on NXT, being part of both Nexus AND Team WWE, and winning the United States Championship from the Miz. In December, Bryan began a storyline with Regal, as after Bryan defeated him on RAW to retain the United States championship, he offered, and was declined a handshake. This made Bryan chase his former mentor, and try to earn his respect by defeating the likes of Ted DiBiase Jr, Drew McIntyre and Justin Gabriel. This didn't impress Regal however, who said the only reason Bryan won in December, was because Regal went easy on him. Bryan then realised there was only one way he would get regal's respect, and challenged him to a match at Wrestlemania, even offering to put his championship on the line. Regal agreed to the match, and promised to teach Bryan a lesson in pain. A four team match, for the WWE Unified Tag Team Titles was announced February 21. The champions, World's greatest tag team were obviously already qaulified, and after three weeks, so were Big Show & Kaval, Mick Foley & Santino Marrella & Booker T (with his mystery partner). The four teams engaged in a few brawls, and some matches too, and on the final show before Wrestlemania, Booker T was about to reveal his partner, before the WGTT attacked, but Big Show, Kaval, Santino & Foley made the save, chasing them from the ring. Announced at Elimination Chamber, the seventh annual Money in the Bank ladder match would take place at WrestleMania 27. In this match, numerous participants compete to retrieve a briefcase that is suspended above the ring with a cable by climbing a ladder. The briefcase holds a symbolic contract which the holder would be able to exchange for a WWE or World Heavyweight match at any time or location of his choosing up until WrestleMania 28. The participants would include Alberto Del Rio, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Kane, Kofi Kingston, MVP, R-Truth, Sheamus & Zack Ryder. djthefunkchris
C'mon? nearly 70 views and not one reply? I had a long drawn out reply, but I can't really tell what your doing here. Lesnar was still into MMA in 2011. I thought you might have meant it to be 2012, but then the roster you have isn't believable for this year. Lots of things I don't really find believable in there, but CM Punk vs Steve Austin is what would sell me your Wrestlemania card. As I said though, depends on the year here, what I would tell you... but WGTT isn't something I would bring back at this point... Heck, I would rather see them against each other rather then tag teaming again... Not because I'm not a fan, but because I find them very interesting individually moreso then together at this point in their careers. Daniel Bryan for the Intercontinental Title upsets me as well. He's been ME for so long now, I just can't imagine him there. MVP's in Japan. Mick Foley and Santino tagging together... As long as it's just for laughs, but you have the title's on the line there. Booker T depending on what year your talking about, wasn't in WWE at the time, although now he is. Big Show teaming with Kavel? Just lots of stuff that I can't get behind because there's not enough history to explain it. Maybe in a Diary mode, with a few months of in game diary build-up, I could understand what your doing here.

First off, thank you for the reply. Secondly, yes I may have bent reality a bit, and I've set it as Lesnar, being the sore loser he is, decided he wanted out of UFC after losing his championship to Cain Velasquez. McMahon bought out his contract from old friend Dana White, and the rest is history. WGTT is just a personal faviroute of mine, and after the team has run it's course, Shelton especially will be appearing in more singles action. To be fair, it's a bit harsh to critises Bryan's place on the card, as right now he's boderline Main Event, which is higher than he was at the time in real life. MVP's contract run out, and WWE Signed him back in January. It's basically the last 'thank you' run for Foley, where he can pump out merchendise, a few matches and maybe get one last bit of gold. Booker T returned at my Royal Rumble, same as real life, except instead of announcing, he's an in ring competitor. As for Big Show & Kaval, their team gimmick is just a two friends who were both frustrated at being left off the WM card, and decided to put their strengths together to find some success. (Occasional tag team, TBH I should have put the just as over Usos in their spot.) Thanks for the reply

djthefunkchris
I'd prefer to read it if you started it from December 2010 /nod. This I wouldn't mind seeing either... even if it was just brief story telling per show, maybe a post like the first to explain each match up per show, bringing us to this point. Get me into why these particular people are teamed up, or battling against each other, etc. A dream match is a dream match obviously. However, it's the build up that gets you into it, and the same is true with diary's:).
juggaloninjalee
Yeah I think a month by month recap up to this point in a diary would be good so we can see how things got to this point. Even going forward I prefer those write ups personally. Not sure how others feel about that though.
CharlieCornell
Hmmm, thanks for feedback guys, but rather than month by month recaps, as there wasn't really much going on, instead I will do WWE Superstar profiles for all the stars who have debuted/changed gimmick/turned heel or face/or formed a new tag team or alleigance.
