Questions from a new player

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased this game and I'm having some fun trying it out. However, I have tried to run a few games where I start as an "unknown" hero and I'm finding a few issues that are making the game a bit more challenging than I expect. I was hoping someone here could provide me some insight, since the game help files don't tell me much.

1) building and forming relationships - In my last game I have managed to make 4 friends total. I have searched for and found more than 20 heroes and civilians, but most snub me when I try to make a friendly approach. I even try to find ones that the detail says are "approachable" and I still get snubbed. How do I fix this. (I do restrict myself to level 4 and lower heroes for this, I figure at level 1 and 2 the prominent ones will always snub me.)

2) tracking villains - I try to use this both to obtain information and just to set up 1v1 fights I'm pretty sure I can win, but I never find anyone. I don't go after "hard to tail" villains, but still struggle. What is the trick on this? Is a certain attribute required?

3) patrols - I seem to either go on endless patrols where I don't find anything, or stumble on a level 4 villain with 2 friends while solo. Needless to say I am not winning many of these recently. I don't want to win every fight, but I do want to know that I have a shot. My hero friends can help, but one "died" and one of the others moved to a new area, so I only have one left to patrol with and they are often injured or otherwise unavailable.

I want to keep enjoying this game, but right now there are a few things that are making it hard to love. I want to feel like I'm making progress, but right now its very slow.

Hopefully I'll start winning a few schemes again. My current game I think I've lost 4 of the last 5 and are right now at 80% below target, so I'm in danger of dropping a level of popularity. I need to find the right region where there are lots of low level active villains who aren't too social. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

You're misunderstanding slightly - it's just as much about the other person as it is you. You could be a egotistical pessimist and still make friends, it just depends on who you're talking to and what their traits are like.
