Toddzilla Posted December 20, 2005 Share Posted December 20, 2005 I'm in week 14 of the first year of my dynasty. Texas is ranked #2 Virginia Tech #3 Georgia #4 Texas defeats #9 Colorado 41-6. VPI has a bye week. Georgia defeats unranked Tennessee 41-17. New Media Poll: Virginia Tech #2 - rewarded with a potential shot at the NC for not playing. Georgia #3 - rewarded for spanking a bad team. Texas #4 - punished 2 poll positions and a shot at the NC for demolishing a top 10 conference foe. The Coaches poll had it VPI, Texas, UGA, so at least they were not as INSANE as the media poll, but still, this is ridiclulous. I also noticed that #9 Penn State lost to #14 Michigan 69-0 (!!!) and did not move at all in the polls. Michigan however was bumped up to #10. This, IMO, is a major issue with the way the game handles to polls. Way way too much variance week to week and absolutely no basis in reality whatsoever. It's hard to program human judgement into the equation and it is nice to have a little variance and not just the pure "logical" computer polls based on W/L. Toddzilla Posted December 20, 2005 Author Share Posted December 20, 2005 Well, one point of conention could be that, at least late in the season, a top 25 team is NEVER EVER penalized for winning. You may be able to find a few examples here and there, but the #2 team to drop 2 spots after beating a ranked opponent isn't a tweak, IMO, its a major issue.
