How many years can the game play until?

Recommended Posts

Question: How long will the game go? Is there a date when it will max out or will it keep playing? Is there an ending? Obviously my goal is to start from a 0 rated promotion and take it to the top and be global.. Thanks.

The game doesn't end, there isn't a date where things will max out (not sure what you mean there) I had one of my saves go for 26 years and one of my current saves is in 2021.

If you are playing a real world mod there might be a date where new workers stop generating depending on how the mod is set up (I don't play real world mods so I could be wrong on that one) I play the c-verse and it set up so things dont end, the universe just keeps growing.

Hope that answered your question.

A promotion must have an opening year between 1820 and 2984. We also know, factually, that a game can last over 50 years; I have simmed to that length and there is an achievement for that.

I have yet to hear of anyone testing a game post-2984; give me a second and I'll try it out.

Edit:

The database must start between 1900 and 3000. I'll set it to 3,000 and see what happens.

Well that's nice. Provided you don't do screwy things (like change the starting date from 2010 to 3000 without changing anything else), the answer is, essentially, the game can be played longer than you will likely have interest in a save. 0/0/0/0-global games tend to not go longer than...30 years until they achieve their goal, if I'm remembering the anecdotes people have given. Regardless, there will be some slowdown as the game continues through the decades; admittedly, some of that is contingent on your computer.

For an example:

Time for game to open a <1 year save:

4 seconds

Time for game to open 1.5 years save:

8 seconds

Time for game to open 50 years save:

1 minute, 55 seconds

That save is almost unplayably slow. 14 seconds to go to the workers screen, 1 minutes and 32 seconds to save...so yeah, there is a limit on playability, but most people don't hit it through actually playing year-to-year. And my laptop is 6 years old.

You just contradicted yourself in the same post. Is it 1820 or is it 1900? And you know this, which ever is correct, how?

I don't see how he contradicted himself? A Promotion can be set to open as early as 1820, you just cant run those first 80 years since the database has to start on or after 1900. Yea you would think they'd be the same but I don't see a contradiction.

amp, stop it. Please. I edited the database in the editor. Try making a promotion open at, say, 3333. That's the first message. Second message is trying to have the database itself start at 3333.

If you're really going to be this picky about my specific numbers, then I'm going to post screenshots of everything. Fine. And hell, I'm fine with you pointing out when I'm wrong. But I bowed out for awhile, I come back in here, do not start this again.

Yes, I'm being picky about specific numbers. You have a tendency to give wrong answers AND not back up your answers. Or not give a straight answer or two different answers.

If I thought you were right and you did your work, you KNOW I wouldn't say anything. How many times have you said something correctly, or provided proof for your answers and I didn't say anything? Everytime. That's only when you say something correct or provide proof for your answers, though. As long as you do that, I haven't said anything.

He wasn't being clear. He has a tendency to leave off information as "assumed". If you read the post, it sounds like he was giving two different answers.
