v1.1 compatabilty

Recommended Posts

Tim- Thanks for your response. Do I correctly assume from your comments that when 1.1 comes out, that I will be able to adjust the injury setting to my preference mid-season and continue my current 1.02 league? I don't want to invest more time with this league, but rather wait until 1.1 is available if 1.02 isn't compatible in this fashion. Your comment about "expecting" saves to work in v1.1 is somewhat unclear. Will the injury option in v1.1 be adjustable DURING the game like the option to be fired is? Or will it be like the option of recruits leaving early that is only available when BEGINNING a new game? Hope this clarifies my question a little better. TXS

I'm not sure either, but as with every new patch, one thing is to say that the old save game will run and another that the new changes will be applied to the old save game and all will be fine. My suggestions is to start a new game after a newe patch on any game to have the full benefits from it and to avoid any possible incompatibility that can kick later in the game.
I'm sure I saw SkyDog mention in a thread elsewhere (FOFC?) that v1.1 may potentially not be backwards compatible because of a new "feature". YMMV.
If this is so: Why would this be mentioned on that board and not this board? This IS the board of the company putting it out, right? SkyDog is a beta tester, making him an employee of GD. Why are things being 'mentioned' at FOFC (a board that SkyDog runs, unless I'm mistaken) instead of here?
Impossible in an online league world.
I know, that is why most (and i thought all) of the online leagues are waiting until 1.1 to start their leagues, as potential issues can appear on any game after the release. Anyway we are just guessing, Arlie is the only who knows. If you're used to SIGames titles like Football Manager, when they release a patch they always say the same, the savegames are compatible, but to get the full benefits of the patch, you need to start a new game. In my opinion that applies to any game.

To clarify, there is a feature that will be pretty insignificant to most people but that was significant to a career with a fictional team that is set up initially to be beneath the default prestige range. That feature was only working properly with new games in the first beta of the next version. I am told that it will work for old saves moving forward. Relax.
SKYDOG- Do you have any insights about my question regarding the new injury options available in v1.1 and backwards compatability with saves in 1.02? I assume your most recent comment applied to the "new" feature that was brought up in this thread. TXS
The options definitely appear in saved careers in the next version. I can't comment yet on how well they work with saved careers.
My question is why don't you share your insight from 'non traditionally' testing this game with the board that is actually the official board of the game?
Three reasons: 1. Because I spend far more time at FOFC than here. 2. The formatting in my dynasty thread is easier to do there than here. 3. The guys who read my dynasty threads frequent FOFC more than here. FYI, the specific thing that was picked up and mentioned in this thread was a simple side comment as a word of explanation in my dynasty thread. I (and many others) write dynasty threads for many games other than FOF in the FOFC dynasty section.
I have no issue with writing dynasties on FOF about other games. However, if you were 'testing' in some form (as you state you are) and not letting this community in on it, I would take issue.
This community can't make changes to the game. Arlie can. I let him know anything that I that I feel needs to be looked at, fixed, or tweaked.
this community has the right to know that.
That's pretty funny, but regardless, what's your beef? Within moments of becoming aware that "we're talking about compatibility here," I clarified the comment I made at FOFC. FAR more important than that, though, is the fact that the instant I became aware that the numerical prestige (that's the new feature I was referring to) was not working with saved careers, I made Arlie aware of it, and guess what? It was fixed for the release version of 1.03. It's important that someone with a beta copy (or release version, for that matter) make the developer aware of any issues first and foremost. The community is secondary.
