[Golightly]: “…Kelly Taylor. I have been ordered by the owner of the HWA to ask you why you did what you did last month. But to be completely honest, I couldn’t care less about what you have to say. You disgust me. You’re the worst kind of…” And it appears that Honey’s mic is experiencing technical difficulties.

[Taylor]: “He works in mysterious ways. He explicitly communicated with me that under no means should Xavier be defeated for his championship last month. He has a blueprint for all of us. Just because something does not happen immediately does not mean it will not happen at all. He has illustrated that there is a period as well as a place for everything. Be patient my child. I am merely His emissary.

And Mrs. Golightly, while He gazes down on you for the smut and lewdness that you helped create in a city as irreprehensible as Las Vegas, He also demonstrates favor in the direction of you for giving occasion to women who otherwise might be prostituting themselves if they were devoid of your establishment and left to their own devices.”

[Golightly]: “…not talk about..why’s my mic worki…” It cuts out once more.

[Taylor]: “So let it be.”

[Bambino]: “Did Kelly Taylor cut off Honey Golighty’s microphone…?”

Another new arrival has a tryout match with the HWA as The Pilgrim looks to battle Daredevil Aero.

The Pilgrim seemed a little nervous making his first professional match of his career as he tangled with Daredevil Aero. When the match stayed on the ground, The Pilgrim had no trouble out brawling Aero but once Aero utilized his strengths and ushered in an aerial assault the decision was never in question.

In the back, Dharma is seen applying her make-up for when she hands out t-shirts later tonight. As the camera man watches from the doorway, a man pushes his way through and slams the door shut in the camera man’s face. Soon after, loud banging and screams can be heard but the door won’t open. As the video is run back, the distinct look of a red and orange mask is seen and the culprit is identified as Pyromaniac.

Super Sonic came out, pointed at Lee Bambino, and yelled some choice words that even the HWA cut from their internet feeds.

But it looked as if he used all of his energy on Bambino, as Thomas Morgan made very short work of Sonic and had him tapping out in the STF in minutes, securing his first win in a long while.

Thomas Morgan defeats Super Sonic via submission.

Sonic rolled out of the way and got in Lee Bambino’s face at the announcers table, even going as far as jabbing his finger into Lee’s chest rather violently. Our lone security guard stepped between the two and made sure Sonic made his way to the back.

The door from earlier swings open and Pyromaniac beats a hasty retreat down the hallway and into the parking lot.

As the cameraman peers into the room, Dharma is on the floor, her clothes tattered and her mascara running all over her face. She looks completely ruffled and is stuck sitting on the ground, clutching her ragged sweater.

The Best of Cinco match series has been postponed at least a month as the two friends have been asked to team up to take on the champion and the muscle bound bad ass Zachary Inc.

Vars and Fire Fly work extremely well together and that is what kept them in this match. Reckless and Inc. weren’t partners and had no chemistry between the two of them whatsoever. Vars and Fire Fly knew when to tag in and out to stay fresh and how to use the ring to their advantage. The tags between Inc. and Reckless became progressively rougher as the match wore on.

Eventually, Reckless knocked Fire Fly off the apron after ducking a Vars wheel kick and Inc. entered the ring to benefit from the two-on-one advantage. Inc. would hit Vars with a right hand, spinning him towards Reckless. Reckless would land a left, spinning Vars back to Inc. Over and over it happened until Vars hit the ground. Once he did, Inc. charged Reckless and ended up eating turnbuckle for betraying his partner. Ashe staggered backwards, Reckless delivered a kick to the gut as Vars rolled him up from behind and scored the shocking upset over Inc.

Kamikaze Christian Vars & Amazing Fire Fly defeat Xavier Reckless & Zachary Inc. via pinfall when Vars pinned Inc. following a failed ambush by Inc. on Reckless.

After the pinfall, Inc. jumps to his feet to avenge his loss but is immediately met with a Slingshot DDT that puts him down for good.

Xavier grabs a microphone and directs his tirade toward the back.

“Kelly Taylor! I don’t know what kind of sh*t you’re trying to pull but you’re f*cking wit the wrong guy. I don’t need no savin and you ain’t no God. I’m more high and powerful than you’ll ever be. If anything, you should be taking direction from me!”

Reckless turns back to the down and out Inc.

“And Inc. This ain’t over either.”

He delivers one more kick to Inc. before making his way to the back.

An HWA history course: Fearless Blue was scheduled to wrestle Zachary Inc. in the semi-finals of the Old Man Rivers Memorial Tournament when Leon ‘Giant’ Brody made his debut and destroyed Blue as he had been paid by Inc. to do. After Blue fully recovered from his injuries, he has set out on a path of redemption against the giant. In the meantime, Brody has manhandled every opponent thrown his way. Unlike previous opponents, Blue has revenge on his mind.

The match between Fearless Blue and Leon ‘Giant’ Brody started in the entrance way and never made it to the ring. It was obvious quick that Blue was out of his element. Blue tried to jump off a chair onto Brody, but the big man just caught him and speared him into the concrete gym wall. Blue collapsed in a heap. R.M. Stones called for the bell immediately as the human neck and spine is not supposed to bend the way it did, but Brody wasn’t finished. He picked up Blue’s lifeless body and hurled him like an over the shoulder javelin one more time right into the wall. Pleased with the result, Brody disappears backstage.

No contest.

Painted on the mirror in the bathroom, Jebediah sees a message intended for him:

“I know what’s important to you vato…”

The camera pans out as Jebediah curls his hands into fists and his knuckles go white…

In the ring, Nigel Svensson is set to take on the crazy fire setter Pyromaniac, which should be a slightly easier match-up for the Swede.

Svensson was clearly the better worker in the match, but he was out of his element in the HWA setting and Pyromaniac took advantage.

Pyromaniac defeats Nigel Svensson via pinfall.

Extreme Deluxe and Kelly Taylor was next out. While Deluxe waited impatiently in the ring, Taylor took a quick moment to address him with the house mic.

Kelly Taylor worked quickly and meticulously, picking apart Extreme Deluxe before hitting the Angel’s Grace and earning the three count.

Dharma is in the back and she’s on edge.

Pyromaniac jumps out at her from the front and covers her mouth as she goes to scream.

He hoists her onto his shoulder and turns to escape with his prize.

As he turns, Pyromaniac is met with a stare down of Jebediah.

“Let…the girl…be…”

Pyromaniac slowly lowers the girl as he backs away from Jebediah.

“Leave her alone. Your quarrel is with me. We will be proper and resolve this like men.”

Jebediah’s breathing is heavy and he tries to fight his anger. He looks at Dharma to check up on her and even though she’s shaken up, she’ll be okay.
He turns back to confront Pyromaniac but he’s gone. He asks Dharma to accompany him to the ring as Jebediah is scheduled to compete next.

A one on one battle of the two tallest men in the HWA, as Jebediah takes on the monster Leon ‘Giant’ Brody.

It was a slugfest from the beginning as the two men teed off on one another. Brody gave up size to the Amish wrestler but made up for it with menace. A slugfest ensued as the two men exchanged blows. Jebediah used his pent-up aggression to go toe-to-toe with the beast Brody and as the two men couldn’t be separated, R.M. Stones called for the bell as he couldn’t control the action.

No contest

Xavier Reckless is making his way to the ring for his match against The Pilgrim, who is already in the ring and trying, unsuccessfully, to play to the crowd.

Before they can start though, Zachary Inc. stands at the entrance with mic in hand.

Shouting from the ring: “I’m the Pilgrim!”

“Pilgrim? You’re so f*cking unknown your nickname is ‘who the f*ck is that?’ But back to my point. I’m the rightful champ. But some religious nut thinks you’re the chosen one Xavier. He must be more high than your radish ass. I’m gonna get mine Xavier. I’ll hold off on signing with an Eisen or a Cornell just to Incorporate your black ass.”

Inc. had made his way down the entrance way and was now circling the ring, combination scouting his opponent and distracting the champion.

Xavier Reckless defended his title against newcomer The Pilgrim and it was a fairly standard affair. Reckless was more experienced and took the fight to the rookie immediately. Zachary Inc. came out to try and distract Reckless, but The Pilgrim wasn’t a threat enough to capitalize. After about seven minutes, Reckless nailed The Pilgrim with the Slingshot DDT to make another successful defense of the King of New York Championship.

“For being speared into that wall (Blue points to the exact spot where Brody tried out for the human javelin team), I have to say bros, I look pretty good.”

Leon ‘Giant’ Brody makes his way from behind the curtain and starts walking down the entrance toward the ring.

And with that, Brody climbs into the ring where he is met full on by a running and diving Blue. The first strike keeps Brody humbled for the first few minutes as Blue runs and jumps off of any and everything to try and topple the monster. The risk outweighed the reward though as Brody caught Blue on his umpteenth jump. History repeated itself, as Brody smashed Blue into the ringpost. Over and over and over again. R.M. Stones steps in and rings the bell, but Brody shoves him to the floor and continues laying his massive boots into Blue.

Fearless Blue defeats Leon ‘Giant’ Brody via disqualification.

Brody lifts him off the ground just by his throat and delivers his signature one handed choke bomb onto the unmated gym floor. Brody stands over the broken Blue and delivers a cold message:

“STAY. DOWN.”

Before returning to the back.

A video plays, documenting the past between Pyromaniac and Jebediah and what has brought them to this point.

It wasn’t a wrestling match. It wasn’t a fight either. A fight means both sides are involved. Pyromaniac had no offense as Jebediah beat him around every inch of the ring. The highlight of the match was Pyromaniac ducking out of the ring to catch his breath and Jebediah bouncing off the ropes and jumping over the top rope to the outside and onto Pyromaniac. The crowd was stunned and Jebediah hit his Sundown Splash, in the ring this time, to put an end to Pyromaniac.

Xavier Reckless is seen in the back with the stationary camera.

What are you tryin’ to front fo? One jab from this right han’ will make you stumble more than tryin’ to juggle swords while playin’ tugowar in a thunda storm! You just a muscle bound b*tch. I’ve been to Motown, the land of 8 Mile. Saw your mom too. I f*cked that b*tch for five cents and got change back.

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly. Your parents must hate you dawg. Namin’ a boy Kelly. You lucky you ain’t a Muslim boy or I’d backhand you wit’ a f*ckin’ pork chop. When you step in the ring with me again boy, you gonna be nervous like another Kelly, R.Kelly, when he roll up on a Chuckie Cheese.”

Nigel Svensson is in the ring and he seems to be running the HWA gauntlet in terms of opponents, as this week he takes on the Detroit brawler, Zachary Inc.

For eight minutes, the fans never left their feet. Nigel Svensson, a very accomplished wrestler, and Zachary Inc, more a garbage brawler, wrestled their way to the most acclaimed match in the short history of the HWA. Inc. would connect with his heavy punches and he showed signs of chain wrestling as he and Nigel reversed one another’s moves. The hard hitting action from the two men ended as Inc. landed a Credit Crunch on the Wigan master.

Zachary Inc. defeats Nigel Svensson via pinfall.

In match four of the friendly rivalry between Kamikaze Christian Vars and Amazing Fire Fly, they were chosen to headline the show and even after the surprise quality of the last match, they did not disappoint.

The two men flew around the ring with a variety of flips and maneuvers but it was Vars’ willingness to disregard his body that helped land him the victory and tie the series up at two wins a piece.

Kamikaze Christian Vars defeats Amazing Fire Fly via pinfall. The Best of Cinco rivalry series now has both men tied at two wins apiece. The next win will decide the overall winner.

Who knew telling people when and where to do things could be so tiring? I finally had some time to myself. I thought about reading. I hadn't read anything that wasn't business related in months. After deliberating for a few moments, I decided to look into what all this Game of Thrones nonsense was about.

It was about 3% downloaded on my Kindle when my phone rang. For once, I hoped it was my mom. Friends text. Work and mom call. My fingers were crossed.

I didn't even bother looking at the ID. After answering, the high pitched voice rang through and I knew exactly who I was talking to.

"We should hire more wrestlers."

"Lee, most people start conversations with a 'Hi, how are you doing' at least. Why do you want to hire more? We can barely afford the ones we have now."

I know when a battle needs to be lost. I fire up my email app and take a look at what Lee has sent me. I sigh loud enough that my dog looks at me with compassion.

Dean McWade. On Hiatus.
Cowboy Buck Winchester. Way too popular.
Dan DeLay. Wouldn't even sneeze in our direction.
Devastating Don. Dead.
Ford Gumble. Why would he come to the HWA?
Irwin Gutmann. Actually plausible.
Larry Wood. With what money, honestly.
Ted Brady. He's 37...
The Pilgrim. Already on our roster. Is he evening paying attention?
Vendetta. No.

Being new to this whole wrestling thing, Google has become my best friend. Although Googling Ted Brady only gets you websites where people confuse Tom Brady and Ted Bundy.

If we had the money, Lee would sign all of these men. Granted, the dead one, God rest his soul, wouldn't help us (he'd still be better than Trauma though) but that would double our roster. If this thing ever pops off and we start making real money, will Lee spend it on guys we don't need?

Ugh. It's finally dawning on me that I'm growing attached to this thing...

I just like playing with characters I otherwise never would get to use. Super Sonic isn't finding his way into MAW anytime soon. But go for it! The Dynasty actually makes me want to play the game more. Usually I get burnt out after awhile or I want to move to a different company but I'm having a blast with my misfit roster, no money, and incremental popularity improvement!

That man is as big as Big D. But he’s so country he thinks a seven course meal is a possum anna six pack. Heck, he lives so far out inna country that the sun rises and sets between his house and his town. He’s so dang ugly he looks like he was inna outhouse when lightning struck it. My state don’t take kindly to people of his nature anna I’m recking to finish off what that illegal started.”

Kelly Taylor and Zachary Inc. open the show wrestling wise, and for once, neither has a word to say before the bell rings.

The match had an angry Inc. try to beatdown Taylor but his aggression got the best of him. The two fought around the ring before it spilled to the outside. Inc. couldn’t keep up with the ‘religious nut’ and Taylor nailed Inc. with an Angel’s Grace on the outside. The ending saw Xavier Reckless run down to attack Taylor. Taylor ducked the assault and rolled out of the ring, backing his way toward the entrance curtain. R.M. Stones, unsure exactly what to do, counts both men out of the ring and declares the match a draw.

No contest.

Backstage, in the shadows, Thomas Morgan and myself can be seen talking in hushed tones.

“Look Morgan, I trust you. You’re one of, if not the most, talented wrestlers on our roster. I trust that you won’t hurt the kid. Just go out there, and be…gentle…for lack of a better term. Throw some headlocks, maybe an arm drag or two, then slap on that STF of yours, LIGHTLY! I might add and let him squirm and tap. You’ll get a win, the kid’ll get a match, and we’ll all go home happy, deal?”

“Deal.”

Kade Codeine, otherwise known as the younger brother of HWA King of New York Champion Xavier Reckless, makes his HWA debut tonight as he takes on the Canadian Mat Specialist, Thomas Morgan.

Morgan was clearly superior and must have hit several headlock takeovers on the poorly trained brother of the champion. Morgan locked the STF in however it was clear it wasn’t a very efficient one but the match seemed over. Morgan let Codeine wiggle around a bit until he shocked everyone in attendance by fighting his way to the ropes. Morgan broke the hold and lost his temper, slamming hard boots down onto Kade’s body. Morgan missed a boot and Codeine took advantage, rolling Morgan up from behind. Codeine used the ropes that had gained him his freedom as leverage and scored a huge upset victory over the veteran.

Kade Codeine defeats Thomas Morgan via pinfall.

Morgan is beside himself as Codeine reacts like he just kicked a preseason game winning field goal.

Backstage, The Pilgrim sits down in the locker area with Nigel Svensson.

“Hey man. I’m tired of getting my butt handed to me and I like what Vars and Fly having going on. I thought maybe we could try the same thing? Beats facing Inc. and Brody every month, right?”

"Oh...ugh...nevermind then."

"It means: I suspected this might happen, said the one that was kicked out. It's a Swedish saying. I'm always up for a challenge pal."

The remaining members of The Quest square off for a shot at the King of New York Championship.

The Quest members were all familiar with one another’s ring style and it allowed the match to run somewhat smoother than most would expect from workers of their caliber. Blue was a little banged up but was still his reckless self, no pun intended. Deluxe seemed agitated but knew a victory here would do wonders for his career. Aero seemed content to just be in a title match and held nothing back. Reckless was the ring general, knowing where, when, and who to attack at the most opportune times.

The match just starts to see the men attempt their finishers when Leon ‘Giant’ Brody storms the ring.

The champ wisely rolls out. A one handed choke bomb knocks Daredevil Aero out and a big boot takes Deluxe over the top rope. Fearless Blue catches the giant by surprise and they both go over the top rope. They end up brawling around the ring before Blue escapes to the back. As the two men brawl, Reckless slides in and makes another defense of his title, pinning Aero somewhat cleanly.

Xavier Reckless defeats Daredevil Aero by pinfall.

Match five of the Best of Cinco rivalry headlines this show as Kamikaze Christian Vars and Amazing Fire Fly shake hands before tying up.

The longest match in the history of the HWA is witnessed by those in attendance as Vars and Fire Fly showcase themselves and try to gain the all-important final victory. Both men score a near fall but neither can successfully land their finishing move as they’re too familiar with one another. Late in the match, the two men chain together an exciting array of Luchador moves when out of nowhere, the bell rings. Both men stop in their tracks and stare at R.M. Stones. Stones says something that Fire Fly can’t decipher before he makes the universal signal for “time” as he points to his wrist. The two men are exhausted and irritated, but shake hands as the show ends, eager to resume their rivalry…

No contest due to time limit draw.

Journal Entry #5

Xavier Reckless wants it all. Not only is his carrying the torch for this company, he now wants his brother to be pushed up the card too. Kade has a look...but literally nothing else. I'm not saying I could spot the next Sam Strong or anything, but I've seen Trauma work, and Trauma was twice the wrestler that Kade is. And Codeine? Really? That's what he wants to be known as? I swear, if the brothers Reckless both have a drug problem...well, I don't know what I'll do. I can't fire them...

And Lee is no help. He won't even confront Reckless. He sees us finally making a splash and doesn't want to shoot the horse he rode in on. I'm basically waiting for the two brothers to OD and Lee to accept the blame from the police due to him being so skittish...

Nigel Svensson and The Pilgrim are the opening of the show as the two men try to emulate the success of Kamikaze Christian Vars and Amazing Fire Fly.

It was a short match and Svensson really made The Pilgrim look bad. Svensson can do it all while The Pilgrim can only really fight with fists. One Running Knee Drive and Hyperextended Elbow Lock later, Nigel picked up his first victory in the HWA.

Nigel Svensson defeats The Pilgrim via submission.

Bradley Blaze makes his debut against the experienced Extreme Deluxe, who still seems a little dazed following last month’s match.

Another short contest as Blaze came out like a house of fire and dropped Deluxe quickly with the Dallas Drop.

Bradley Blaze defeats Extreme Deluxe via pinfall.

Blaze grabs a mic after the match and addresses Jebediah.

Pyromaniac makes his first appearance since losing to Jebediah and he wished he hadn’t as Leon ‘Giant’ Brody marched to the ring and beat him to a pulp just for existing.

Amazing Fire Fly vs. Kamikaze Christian Vars takes the stage next as they try to finish their Best of Cinco rivalry once and for all.

The match itself was almost an exact copy of last month’s affair, but the fans couldn’t care less as the two highfliers put on one hell of a show. Yet their familiarity was their downfall again, as neither could land any impact moves on the other. With an increased time limit, fans were certain they would see a decisive finish but the two wrestled all the way to the twenty minute time limit.

Time Limit Draw.

The two men shook hands rather dejectedly.

Leon ‘Giant’ Brody marched to the ring and pointed to the back.

Xavier Reckless ran out and stormed the ring, exchanging blows with the colossus. As the two threw right hands, Fearless Blue ran in and the double team on Brody knocked him down to his knees.

As the faces teed off on the downed titan, Zachary Inc. entered the ring and cleaned house with a chair to the back of Blue and to the back of Reckless.

As the titan stands, staring at Zachary Inc. the lights go out. A lone light shines down on the entrance ramp, where Kelly Taylor stands holding a book overhead.

Journal Entry #6

Apparently we're growing. I don't really know how this industry works. I look out in the bleachers of our shows and see ten, twenty more people every two months but it's still not that many. It's not like we're a SWF or even a ACPW or anything. But it's a small victory, I suppose.

Lee hasn't really told me what's changed with our growth so I don't know if anything has. Anyways, I guess it's a cause for celebration. I must be doing something right...
