How to know who's on the field?!?

Recommended Posts

I love this game, but I'm finding one annoying thing I can't figure out. I have a 10/10 RB that is unstoppable. Everytime I run a run play, I am not sure if he will get the ball or the 2nd RB will get it. Not matter if I pick Cmp sub or not, I can't seem to have control over who will get the ball on the next play. Any idea ??? Also, when I choose a play, I see who would be on the field. However, when I click on "call play" the personnel on the field changes. Why is that? How can you choose who to put on the field?!?

well make sure you check in your team set up how much you are playing the starters. There is a percentage set there so that you can have your starter participate more in the game. A lot of it will depend on the endurance of your player as well. If his endurance level is low he will have to sit after plays more often.

the change in players that you see is the computer switching the offense and defense calls to the present play, remember the last play called is on the screen until you "Call Play" As Erich said the player has an endurance value, if you click the player or bring up the depth chart you will see his endurance value. If your starters are set to 100 then they will get the majority of work, but every play on the field reduces the endurance value and RB,QB,Wr,TE endurance value drops faster then OL so they will be substituted by the computer according to your depth chart.

I understand and like the subs for fatigue, but like the original poster, I'd like to colored boxes to represent the players on the field before the next play. It makes a big difference to me if my second string running back is in on 3rd and 3 when I call the play, and I have been fooled several times.

How to set line-up I understand all the above, but when you call your plays and Comp sub isn't selected, shouldn't you be able to go to set line-up and select who to put on the field based on current energy level? When you switch between different plays, I understand that the personnel on the field will change but when you click "call play", the personnel changes again so you don't know who's on the field for a particular play. This changes the whole play calling strategy. The starter % playing time should be used only when you sim your games, right?

Could someone comment on the above. How to select who's on the field. Why are the personnel on the field changes when I click on "Call play". I like to have complete control over who's on the field at any time, which I think this is what the "set line-up" screen is for when "cmp sub" is not selected. But it doesn't seem to work all the time.

Frenchcdn-I think what you might need is to remember the game is like a board game, When you make an offensive call the computer looks at your gameplan and decides who plays and based on down & distance, field position and time what type of play will be run. THen your strategy screen where based on what type of play the formation and target is selected. Last the actual play is determined from the playbook and the formation you slected. The computer makes checks against the defensive side, which has gone through the same selection process. Before the selection above begins the endurance and injury values are checked by the computer and player subs are made. After everything above the computer makes personnel changes, adding the second TE in a double TE etc. Keep in mind the computer doesn't know exactly who is on the field until you make all the selections. Also you don't have control of every single player on every play, the game isn't designed to be that way. The starter % is used whether you sim or play out the games, the computer uses it to determine who is on the field as a first variable. I will ask Arlie and he is reading these posts whether a delay could be added so you see the players on-field before the play is run.

So if you are calling a play that you want your 5 star stud to be in it will show up blue in the RB position. If it shows up yellow for your 2nd string click suggest again and it will change the personnel for the play. More times than not it will place your 5 star blue player, unless you've run him too many times prior and the logic will override your wishes and keep him sitting on the bench.
