Bad Boys of Australia: God Help Us All

Recommended Posts

On a side note I am thankful for the nomination and votes I have gotten for the DoTM this time around. There are so many good diaries going on now and I am glad to see people are enjoying this one.

Good to see some Australian love with Belton getting a nomination for the second month in a row so a congrats to him as well.

Well congrats in general to all because really all of the diaries are worth a read if you all haven't checked them out.

Now enough of my sentimental moment. More Bad Boy action in the coming days!

National Championship Match

Francis Burke © vs Septimus Stubbs

Though I think that title change will happen soon, I just don´t see Stubbs being the one who gets the title next. Then again I would have said same on Burke before he won the title which shows how much I know :p

Australian Youth Championship

Dexter Mattell vs Felix Harding

I expect long reign for Mattell unless he moves to National title picture soon. Anyway Harding hasn´t done enough yet to warrant a title run.

Also Featuring

Alyx Macquarie vs ???

I go with mystery man.

Bob Shrunkle vs Harley Principal

Close call but I go with Bob simply because heels are more likely to cheat.

Michael Rheur vs Frankie Robertson

It´s interesting to see what happens to Rheur now that plans with Moriarty and Drifters are out. I go with Frankie this time but I could see this one going other way too if you want to keep Rheur strong.

Eraser vs Devilfish

Eraser´s win over Frankie showed that you are willing to push him and keep him in main event picture but I still can´t pick him over Devilfish.

Australian People's Party vs ???

I might have picked People´s Party just little while ago but they wasn´t particularly impressive in last show. Loss against Mattell is one thing but loss againts McGhee hurt their standings in my eyes so I shall go with mystery team getting a debut win instead.

I hate to do this, but I have tried for days to get the show written up to my liking and I have just felt uninspired. I think for the time being I am going to put the Bad Boys of Australia on hiatus at least for a short while. Maybe sometime in the next month or two I will pick things back up or once I feel like I can make things a fun read to those that keep track of this diary.

This has nothing to do with really being burned out for having two diaries. I feel like I can still continue both if I just felt more inspired. Just right now it feels as if each show has recently started to fall into a bit of a stagnant formula. For now I will continue with Remo and his CGC adventures and who knows. Maybe I will get a wild hair and start up something else as a replacement for this. Kinda had an urge for a UK based diary or maybe a shot at EWA or the like down the line. I am also moving soon so maybe once in a new environment I will start to feel the creative juices flowing again.

For now I appreciate all the readers I have had so far and don't fret. The Bad Boys of Australia aren't dead. They are just on a nice vacation. Septimus Stubbs is too cranky to let it fade away afterall.

Bad Boys of Australia: Culture Shock

The lounge is slowly filling up with an expanding fanbase for the small promotion. They are still far from looking professional, but each time around some of the old equipment has been replaced with something still used, but in much better shape. The fans are treated to a few matches before the official tapings begin.

Devilfish is the first man out once the cameras are recording and he gives the fans some high fives, fist bumps and the like before finally moving over to grab one of the mics at the announcers table. Climbing in the masked man grins wide before he begins to speak.

Devilfish: I think I am enjoying my new home. Like, I feel like I am taking part in something special, man. A company that is growing and becoming better right before your eyes. I am proud to be part of that. I am proud to have been able to be in the main event at the one year anniversary and even if I came up short I know me that Francis Burke dude gave you a hell of a main event. I would love to do it again, but it seems Big Daddy Horne had other things in mind. So tonight I get to start things off and I will do it with a bang!

Standard babyface promo that worked well enough. The crowd likes Devilfish and they pretty much respond positively to anything he does.

Devilfish vs Eraser

Solid opening bout between two men that have worked together previously in ZEN. Devilfish has the crowd behind him and Eraser does well in his role of being the silent enforcer for The Family. Eraser starts off strong and gets most of the offense before Devilfish makes his comeback in typical babyface fashion. Eraser starts to quash the comeback, but a mistake allows Devilfish to slip around and get him into a octopus hold. Eraser fights to get free, but eventually taps out.

Bob Shrunkle comes out with Taniko Jo, but he only gets a few steps before Harley Principal comes out from the back and jumps him. The two brawl about through the crowd as Taniko Jo screams at the pair. Eventually the two make their way to the ring where the match proper can start.

Bob Shrunkle with Taniko Jo vs Harley Principal

The fans seem more apt to enjoy the two brawling through the crowd than trying to put together an actual match. Both men are decently solid hands for big men, but both also seem to be gassed from the earlier brawling. The match is kept short and Taniko Jo helps distract Harley long enough for Shrunkle to blindside him. Bob then bounces off the ropes and hits a sit down splash to get the win.

Michael Rheur vs Frankie Robertson

The last match is followed up by two more solid members of the roster. Rheur is always good in the ring even if he lacks personality and Frankie has become one of the top faces in the company over the year he has been around. Michael uses his technical expertise to control the match and keep the pace slow. Frankie on the other hand goes into flurries when he does manage to get in offense only to be countered and put in another submission hold. In the end Frankie just seems to have more energy to keep going than Rheur and the veteran starts to falter while Frankie begins to chain together some offense. The surprise is when he actually gets Rheur into a submission hold of his own and makes the veteran tap.

Alyx Macquarie is out next and much like Devilfish he interacts with the fans a little before he gets in the ring and he takes time to grab a microphone.

Alyx: "I haven't been with this promotion for very long, but I feel like I have accomplished quite a bit since I came here. I guess I did enough that I get a wonderful surprise opponent tonight. Not sure who it is, but the guy better realize who he is getting in the ring with. I have had titles and I already part of the winning team of the trios tournament a few months back. The next step for me? To become your champion here at Bad Boys of Australia. So lets see what I have in store. Come on out!"

Alyx Macquarie vs Seeker

The rather ratty man in preacher's clothing known as Seeker emerges to take on Alyx. It seems he isn't quite as prepared as he should be because his timing ends up being off almost the entire match. In fact it is hard to tell if things were ended early because of it. It actually seems like Seeker might be under the influence of something. Alyx does his best to keep the match interesting and he ends up with the win after he nails Seeker coming off the top ropes with a super kick.

The Australian People's Party vs The Affliction

The APP seem like they are being thrown to the wolves in this case. They both look like deer in headlights when they see Misery and the monsterous Anguish emerge to be their mystery opponents. Matt Stoppard and Anguish both are used a bit sparingly which allows the better workers to control the match. Misery and Marcus are the glue that keeps this match from being a complete mess. APP have little chance and The Affliction win in their debut by hitting Marcus Kerr with their Great Depression finisher.

Felix Harding vs Dexter Mattell © with Ceri Dordevich

Ceri quickly makes her presence known by distracting Felix right at the start to allow Dexter to get the jump on the challenger. For two younger wrestlers they put together a pretty good match that puts some of the veterans to shame. Dexter has really started to come into his own right now and Felix looks like he has a pretty bright future as well. Ceri proves to be useful to Dexter once again and her distractions and a well timed trip when the ref wasn't looking allows Dexter to retain his title when he locks Felix into the STF and forces him to tap.

Septimus Stubbs emerges and looks like his usual miserable self. He jawjacks with a few fans on his way to the ring and stops to grab a mic and shove Ross Stewart out of his seat in the process.

Septimus: "Francis Burke, ya little shit. You have had that title for too long and none of these other dickwads can seem to pry it off you. Get your ass out here so I can show them how it's done. I am going to wipe the floor with you and leave yer girl crying over your limp dick body while I will be laughing all the way to the bar with title in hand."

Septimus Stubbs vs Francis Burke © with Melissa Abernathy

Looks like Septimus is keeping true to his word because he starts off the match on fire and just unloads on Burke. Even though he is getting up in years he hasn't lost a step it would seem. Burke finally gets free from the grasp of the challenger and he goes for a low dropkick that takes one of Septimus' legs out from under him. Francis starts to fight back and use his quick, high flying offense to keep Septimus on his toes and making it hard to fight back.

Burke goes to put Septimus away, but it looks like he was playing possum. When Burke goes for the top rope, Stubbs leaps to his feet and quickly pushes Burke to the outside where he crashes into some seats. The veteran capitalizes by quickly going out to retrieve the hurt Burke and toss him back in. The fans start to boo as Stubbs manages to heft up Burke for the Stubby Piledriver, but then it gets reversed and Stubbs tumbles out of the ring. Burke gets back to his feet then leaps outside and into Stubbs which takes both men out. The count slowly moves towards twenty, but both men get in at the last moment. Burke once again looks to put Stubbs away, but given the positioning the ref fails to see Stubbs deliver a low blow. He hefts up Burke and nails him with the Stubby Piledriver. There is a new champion!

Headline: Bad Boys of Australia Gaining Momentum

A little over a year ago a company was created by Australian wrestling veterans Big Daddy Horne and Septimus Stubbs. A company that many didn't expect to see last long given it was made of several unknown rookies and veterans that had yet to have any sort of big break. Australia already had too many companies many had felt and adding another just wouldn't work. Boy how we were all wrong.

Fast forward to over a year later and Bad Boys of Australia are still around and even more so we can hardly call them just a local promotion. They may not be the size of RAW or even APW, but we can easily put them in the same company as DIW and ZEN these days. It has been with the help of the business savvy Septimus Stubbs who has managed to sign some big names as well as develop new talent into a product that really anyone can enjoy.

The growth has also meant that the company will start to add some new shows with big plans in the future. The month of March will be the first to have not one, but two shows separated by a few weeks. The first coming up will be Bad Habit which will feature the following matches down below.

Bad Boys of Australia: Bad Habit

This is the largest crowd to be hosted in Laird Lounge yet. It seems the advertising and positive reviews that BBoA has been getting has spread and the crowd is well over double of what they are used to in the past few months. The announcer table actually had to be moved a bit to make room for the larger numbers and just the overall larger crowd and their noise making makes the whole show feel less low rent.

Reed Buckfield and The Australian People's Party vs The Family

The show starts off with trios action as The Family looks to unleash their brand of violence on Reed Buckfield and his partners tonight, The APP. The experience and team work edge both belong to the family due to the familiarity Eraser and Jester have due to their work together over the years. Vortex meshes very well too and offers a good mix of technical and high flying to the rather straight forward brawling of his partners. The babyfaces attempt to fight back, but for the most part their offense is ineffectual. The Family are like a cat playing with a mouse and Eraser finally ends it when he hits Marcus Kerr with a Rub Out.

Winners: The Family

The Family remain in the ring aside from Vortex who slinks out to harass both Ross Stewart and London Platten before getting a microphone for himself and his cohorts. Eraser quietly stands behind the more animated Vortex and Jester. Jester is laughing nonstop and Vortex slinks around the ring while speaking.

Vortex: "Last year was just the beginning. First there was me, then brother Jester arrived and the family truly was born. Now with brother Eraser we become more unstoppable. The family continues to grow as does your fear...."

He trails off and he leans towards Jester who is still laughing. Vortex slinks over and hands the microphone over before he moves to sort of climb onto the still quiet Eraser who makes no move despite having Vortex curling about him.

Jester: "Mwehehehehehehe, this year we are taking over! No one will be able to stop us and the only way to survive will be to welcome us. Welcome us into you and let us make you one of the family. Eeeeeheheheheheheehehe!"

He drops the microphone and he slips out of the ring. Eraser still has Vortex curled about him as he slips out of the ring and follows Jester to the back.

The former champion comes out with Melissa to a pretty good amount of cheering. He still has a smile on his face even if it seems odd to not see him without the title around his waist for the first time in around a year. The microphone left by The Family is picked up by him and he puts an arm around Melissa as he speaks.

Francis Burke: "I would be a liar if I say it didn't hurt to come out here without the title. For a year I was able to hold onto the title and it has been an honor to be the first champion here."

McGhee has started to see the winning side of things in more recent months and has even shown he can hold his own against some of the top names such as Devilfish. He looks to continue to improve since he first debuted in the promotion and looks good here as he manages to show good bits of offense against Burke who might be a bit off his game due to losing his title and just doesn't have his head fully into the match. Burke turns the tides a few minutes in and starts to get his usual string of offense in and McGhee's attempt to stymy the momentum fails and he fails victim to the Flying Flip Neckbreaker.

Heaven and Hell with Lori vs The Affliction

Heaven and Hell continues to show improvement over the months since they started teaming together. The addition Lori has helped out as well, especially with the way her and Australian Devil just seem to click and work together as a manager/client combo. Even if they do well working together they are dealing with a team that has been together much longer and easily overpower them. High flying moves don't help when most of the match is spent when Heaven and Hell are mostly kept to the mat or are being manhandled by a big bear hug by Anguish. Azazel is taken out by Anguish at one point and Australian Devil is left in the ring with the two bigger men. He tries to fight them off, but soon ends up being hit by The Great Depression and gets pinned by Misery.

Dexter Mattell and his girl come out to the ring after Heaven and Hell are helped to the back. The cocky Mattell poses with his Australian Youth title in front of the booing fans and he retrieves himself a microphone before the pair get into the ring.

Dexter Mattell: "If you are one of the people going 'Who the hell is Michel Bernard?' you are not the only one. This is what things have come to now? This is what I have to deal with? He is stopped by Ceri who takes the microphone and sexily struts around Dexter while speaking.

Ceri Dordevich: "It doesn't matter, baby. It is another win and further proof you are the best thing in this company. That old fart Septimus Stubbs is just keeping that title warm for you and soon you will hold both titles in this company. No one can stop you, baby."

Dexter just grins and he leans in to kiss Ceri and lightly plucks the microphone back and nods.

Dexter Mattell: "You're right. There is no stopping me. This company belongs to me. There is no one that can defeat me. Those freaks can say it is their year, but we all know that two thousand and fourteen will be the year Dexter Mattell rises to the top and never looks back!"

In a way this is something of a mirror match. Both men seem a bit on the cocky side and don't seem to mind being a bit underhanded. Not only that they both have a woman who doesn't mind causing a distraction. That might be why the crowd isn't fully into it. It also gives the match an interesting dynamic since it seems both end up cancelling out the advantage they might usually have against someone that usually tries to keep things clean. Dexter just seems to be a bit better at what he does and the champ eventually gets Michel to tap to the STF.

Taniko Jo shouts orders to both big men as they eventually isolate Switchblade and start to work him over. Things are not going well until Harley Principle comes out and he starts to chase Taniko around. It causes Bob to come off the apron and go after him and the referee is distracted by the chaos. Sulphur in turn gets slightly distracted as he tries to check on his manager only to get attacked by Switchblade. He punches on the big man and manages to get him to one leg with a dropkick. He tags in Frankie who comes in and nails a swinging neckbreaker on the dazed Sulphur and quickly covers. The two biggest fan favorites take on one another with more than likely a title shot hanging in the balance. It is a fast paced match from the start and the crowd is drawn in by the two workers who actually compliment one another rather well. Neither man manages to stay in control for a long time and this match gets dangerously closer and closer to the time limit. Devilfish already has felt the burn of a time limit draw in a big match and he starts to try and put away Alyx. Going into panic mode might be the mistake that costs him the match because he lets himself get caught by a surprise Super Kick from Alyx while coming off the top rope and his knocked out cold. There are a few cheers mixed in perhaps from the fans that have been here from the start, but the are mostly drowned out. The always angry looking Septimus gets himself a microphone and climbs into the ring. He holds up the belt in one hand and begins to speak.

Septimus Stubbs: "Take a look at this, shitlicks. Believe it or not this is my first title in a career that started before some of you were soup in yer momma's crotch. Hatemonger comes out swinging, but Septimus Stubbs doesn't back down at all. This is nothing like the previous match which was fast paced and flashy. This is a fist fight that has an occasional wrestling move thrown in. To his credit, Septimus takes everything Hatemonger throws at him and doesn't stay down. The old man is resilient and it seems he may be the better conditioned one because Hatemonger starts to look a bit worn down as the match continues. A missed corner charge sees Hatemonger hit the turnbuckles a bit hard and he twirls about and ends up in the waiting arms of Septimus who locks him up into a Stubby Piledriver and gets the win.

Headline: Double Dose of Bad Boys in March

It looks like if you can't get enough of Bad Boys of Australia you are in luck. Instead of waiting a whole month for their next show March 2014 will be one of the four selected months where they will be running a second show. Big Daddy Horne and Septimus Stubbs look to be testing the waters to see how profitable it may be and if the months with two shows do well enough we could see the schedule expand even more. There is even words of one of those months hosting another big tournament similar to the trios one they held last year.

Payback's a Bitch is the first show this year also to feature talent from another company. Septimus did not shy away in making friends with ZEN and APW and using some of their talent to help out shows, but it seems now that they have grown more the booker is attempting to bring less talent in aside from the Baddest of the Bad tournament as well as the possible tag tournament he is wanting to run. Boo Smithson is listed on the card which can be an assumption he is representing APW and helping out the small promotion for one night only. Even so the veteran is known to be one of the best workers in the ring and to see him go against Septimus Stubbs should make for a good main event. The show proper starts off with two of the better known stars of the company looking to give a good first impression to any of the new fans that have just came out to see Bad Boys of Australia for the first time. Both men are on the agile side, but Devilfish prefers a more high flying offense to Seeker's brawling style. Despite being talented, Seeker often does come off inconsistent and tonight he seems to be doing better than when he faced Alyx last. Even so he is sloppy at times and Devilfish manages to cover for most of it before seemingly making an audible to end the match early as he scores a surprise rollup into a pin for the win.

Devil and Vortex might be the more exciting ones to watch in this match, but Dexter is the one that keeps this match from becoming a total flop fest. He has great presence of mind to keep the flow going and make the other two guys still look good while limiting mistakes that might happen if he were not involved. In turn Dexter also spends a majority of the match in control and managing to keep one out of the ring while working over the other opponent. Lori tends to keep Ceri in check and the pair starting to get into on the outside is what ends up costing Dexter in this match. He is trying to tell Ceri to get the hell away from Lori and then he is nailed by a dropkick from Australian Devil that sends him outside and almost on top of both women. Vortex then quickly slips into the ring and grabs Australian Devil before he fully gets up from landing the dropkick and he nails him with the Swinging DDT and gets the pin. The Mercs vs Felix Harding and Matty Wills with Rose Wills

The Mercs easily own the advantage when it comes to experience. Both have been a team for a few years in ZEN before joining Bad Boys of Australia and they both have been wrestling longer than there opponents, but really the new team of Felix and Matty are no slouches in the ring. They do have miscues that you might expect for two guys that haven't tagged before, but overall they hold their own against the dangerous duo of The Mercs. Both even get some good bits of offense in and force The Mercs to regroup a few times.

The more seasoned duo end up gaining the advantage through questionable tactics as Eraser tugs down the ropes when Wills is looking to bounce off them. Instead he tumbles out and Rose goes to check on him. While the ref is somewhat distracted and lecturing Eraser, Jester low blows Felix and then tags Eraser in so both of them can set up Harding and put him away with The Hit. Both these men have seen their career in the past few months go in separate directions. Alyx has been experiencing good luck by being part of the winning trio in the Baddest of the Bad tournament and now has a title shot coming up against Septimus Stubbs. Rheur has seen his run at the top putter out due to a flop of a manager and his stable mates leaving the company. While he can still deliver in the ring, his lack of personality might keep him from getting back to the top. Even so he shows a good vicious streak that make people believe he might be able to put Alyx away with his technical prowess. The problem is Alyx always just needs that split second to turn the tide and he does so when he ducks a clothesline from Rheur. After the win Alyx calls for a microphone. He is a bit out of breath and he is still smiling despite being rather worn out.

Alyx Macquarie: "Now that? That is a tough match, but a good warm up for me. Stubbs, keep that title nice and warm for me. I don't know if you are ducking me, but if you think you will have an easy time with Boo you will be wrong. As much as I like Boo I hope you keep the title, Stubby. I want to be the one to take that title. I want to lift it up and say I beat one of the toughest men to ever grace a ring in Australia to get that title. I want to prove I am a deserving champ!"

The fans react pretty well to his words and Alyx leaves to slap hands with a few people before disappearing into the back.

Francis Burke with Melissa Abernathy vs Michel Bernard with Jaime G

Francis continues to regain momentum and a possible chance for a rematch to get his title back while Michel Bernard is starting to show he has a good future in the business once he gets more time under his belt. He actually starts out in control for the early part of the match and looks like he might get an easy win, but then he has to start showboating to the point even Jaime G is telling him to stop. He should have listened because Francis manages to mount a comeback that Michel can never quash and instead of getting a big victory he falls victim to the Flying Flip Neckbreaker.

The Affliction vs Rough and Tumble

The Affliction get their first real test and they seem up for it. They actually overpower Frankie and Switchblade to start and they keep the pair from ever gaining an advantage for long. Misery does most of the work for his team to also help make things flow better as Anguish is mostly brought in to deliver a few power moves that don't involve anything flashy before he tags back out. Frankie finally gets Switchblade tagged in and the small fighter manages to take down Misery then blasts Anguish and knocks him off the apron before he can get in to help his partner. Frankie starts to recover and the pair start to take it to the bigger team and start to get rolling. Anguish starts to get back into the ring and Frankie goes to try and knock him back out, but ends up flipped up and over the ropes to go crashing on the outside. Anguish then attacks Switchblade from the back while he is distracted by Misery and duo put Switchblade away with The Great Depression.

http://imageshack.us/a/img14/8195/septimusstubbs.jpg

The main event is announced to be next, but Septimus Stubbs emerges with a microphone in hand before introductions can be made.

Septimus Stubbs: "Wait a damn moment here, twatface. I got something to say to some of the shitheads in back. First of all Boo Smithson can wrestle, but he is too soft and that is why he hasn't ever been shit no matter where he goes. He needs others to carry him."

He continues his rant as he finally reaches the ring and climbs in.

Septimus Stubbs: "Alyx Macquarie can eat a bag of dicks too. He wants this title so bad and thinks he can beat me? I am old kid, but I still have more talent in my damn pinky than you have in that boy band reject body of yers. Devilfish? **** you, I am not afraid of any shithead that hides behind a mask. Dude and man me all you want. You are just a kid in a man's world and I will rip that damn mask off yer face and shove it up yer ass!"

He tosses the mic away and starts cursing at the referee and holding up his title as the crowd is a mix of boos and laughter. Some people like naughty old men apparently.

Septimus Stubbs vs Boo Smithson

Boo may act meek when not wrestling, but the moment that bell rings he becomes more intense and he starts to give Septimus more than he might have anticipated. The elder fighter is caught off guard and actually has to bail out of the ring to recoup as the fans get behind Boo. Even when taking on a man like Stubbs who is pretty much a straight up brawler, Boo is able to also make a match look more than just a fistfight. Just how he carries himself and makes the others look in the ring really show how valuable of a person he can be to any company.

A few mistakes from Boo later on allow Septimus to start gaining momentum and the old brawler doesn't even relent. Boo is soon treated like a ragdoll for a bit before he ends up eating a Stubby Piledriver. The rather angry old man then shouts at the fans and holds up his title high.
