All Star Wrestling is a British independent wrestling promotion based in Liverpool, England. It is the second most well known promotion in British wrestling history, second to the coalition of promotions known as Joint Promotions.

The promotion was originally founded under the banner Wrestling Enterprises, it remained that way from 1970 - 1984 before being taken over and repackaged as All Star Wrestling. In the mid to late 80's they were part of the biggest promotion war ever seen in professional wrestling when they went head to head with Joint Promotions, All Star Wrestling stole many champions and top performers from Joint Promotions including their World Champion at the time, Johnny Saint. Eventually Joint Promotions lost their television deal with ITV due to massive slumps in the ratings and this allowed ASW to snap up the television deal and put on a weekly show, prime time on one of the biggest networks in England.

Eventually the boom period in British professional wrestling wore off and ASW television deal ended. By this time they had built a large fan base and continued getting record attendance figures for several years while Joint Promotions kept gradually losing more and more money. In 1993 the biggest draw in ASW, Kendo Nagaski hung up his boots and ended all ongoing storylines, the retirement show drew great attendance but following the show the fan base off ASW quickly deteriorated and they soon found themselves in a worse position than before they capitalized on the boom period.

In 1994, Joint Promotions is currently on a part time schedule and have very little money with the threat of bankruptcy scaring of many workers and investors. NWA UK Hammerlock has been running for over a year but has failed to build up much of a fanbase. The third an final British promotion, ASW has lost most worker to retirement or the Japanese, Mexican and American wrestling scenes due to the much higher pay scale foreign promotions can offer them. ASW has lost a huge chunk of it's fanbase and is in a bad financial position, someone needs to bring the British Indy scene up from the ashes, ASW once again needs repackaging.

With ASW in need of a new owner, Brian Dixon cut ties with all current workers, auctioned off all memorabilia and assets and declared the promotion as up for sale. On July 1st 1994 the announcement was made that a small fee was agreed between Brian Dixon and unknown fan Dana White and the ownership change was made official. Dana White, currently living in Las Vegas is the co-owner of three successful gyms, he is quite well known in America for being a trainer/manager for several MMA fighters. He did a short interview for ITV news where he declared he is a massive wrestling fan and this is going to be a part time project of his, he declared he wants to get ASW to the level it was during the boom period for British wrestling. He close the interview by answering a question about the style of wrestling he will bring to ASW, he answered saying he wants the best wrestlers from all around the world competing in this one promotion, he wants a large range of different styles to keep fans intrigued. He guaranteed by this time next year ASW wrestling will be the home to the best Indy wrestlers from all over the world.

He caught the eye of the upper management when he delivered an amazing promo early on in his WCW carear where he stated: "Do you know what my New Year's resolution is going to be? To wake up a half an hour earlier so I can hate you more." He is the current holder of the WCW Television Championship, a title which he has held once before. Regal is sure to be a big star in the resurrected ASW.
