Hey guys, just a quick one to apologise for not having the show up yet. Work was mega busy for me last week, and the weekend kind of got away from me. As such, I only have three segments written up... I know, I'm rubbish. :o

I'm currently hoping to have the show wrapped up by Tuesday/Wednesday. This is actually one of my favourite shows that I've booked recently in this dynasty, so not having the time to write it has been a bit frustrating. Sorry for the delay, but hopefully you'll enjoy the show once it's finally posted.

Thanks for your patience.

So I heard that none of you could make the live show in Florida earlier in the week? Well luckily I have a copy of the DVD, so you can catch up :p (Seriously sorry this wasn't up earlier, work and stuff... excuses... yeah. Enjoy the show :))

Florida Bay International Pro Wrestling: Law Enforcement

Rainbow Bar & Grill, Florida Bay

Saturday W4, June

43 people showed up

Announce Team:

http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx212/Cverse_Rerender/sebsplex/HarveyManners.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/EveRuncord_zpsa1ab512c.jpg

Harvey Manners: “Hello Ladies and Gentleman, and welcome once again to the Rainbow Bar & Grill here on the Florida Bay. My name is Harvey Manners and joining me at the announce desk for ‘Law Enforcement’ is the lovely Eve Runcord...”

Eve Runcord: “Thanks Harvey. We come to you on the back of a disappointing night at ‘Enhanced Interrogation’, where Nomad somehow walked away with his Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship reign still intact.”

Harvey Manners: “I thought we had a new champion on more than one occasion in that match, but no more so when Alan Parent had that Parental Lock locked in on the man on his way down to the ring...”

Eve Runcord: “I don’t think Alan Parent as Champion would be any better than Nomad, I think we owe Cal a huge thanks for not tapping out...”

Cal Sanders is indeed making his way out from behind the curtain. The Canadian pauses briefly and looks over his shoulder, presumably wary of yet more Davie Renluenn interference... but on this occasion none seems to be forthcoming. Cal continues down to the ring and grabs a microphone, before another brief pause... but still no sign of Renluenn. The ‘Leaping Lumberjack’ allows a small grin to creep across his lips before he addresses the crowd.

Cal Sanders: “Right then... with what’s been happening over the past few months, I’ve got a lot to get off my chest. First of all...”

However before Cal can get into full flow, a figure appears from behind the curtain with a microphone already in hand. Not wasting a second, the new arrival cuts right across the Canadians promo.

Davie Renluenn: “You think you’ve got a lot to get off your chest? After you failed to win your one-thousandth shot at the title, I think you’ve lost your right to complain. I on the other hand have some legitimate grievances I want to air...”

Davie Renluenn has by this point made his way down to the ring, and briefly pauses as he jumps onto the apron and climbs into the ring, joining Cal Sanders... who is staring daggers through Renluenn, not that Davie seems to have noticed.

Davie Renluenn: “Like why yet again I am left fighting some nobody in the middle of the card, while some nobodies battle it out for a title shot in the Main Event. I’m on a hot streak, the Champion is scared of facing me... and these fans hang on to my every word.”

The fans immediately begin booing Renluenn, letting him know that they disagree with what he’s saying. However, as usual, Davie seems oblivious to this reaction.

Davie Renluenn: “Yet the people who book this company insist on giving people like you chance after chance in my spot. So what’s your excuse this time Cal? Did you have an off night... again? Did the lights get in your eyes? Or have you finally realised that you are just not good enough?”

The normally calm and collected Cal Sanders is beginning to show signs of frustration at this point, presumably having been worn down by the continual interruptions and insults from Davie Renluenn over the past few months. A fact that Davie Renluenn continues to be oblivious to...

Davie Renluenn: “Because you aren’t good enough to win the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship Cal, that’s a fact. Just like the fact that every show you come out here and bore this crowd to death, and the fact that you’re presence here is holding back some genuinely talented wrestlers from getting the spot that they deserve. So why don’t you do us all a favour and go back to Toronto?”

Cal Sanders: “Toronto? .... I’m from Winnipeg you idiot!”

And Cal Sanders finally snaps... landing a heavy right hand on Renluenn, and quickly gaining the advantage in the brawl. The crowd give a small pop as Sanders finally gets some retribution after months of being poked and taunted by Renluenn.

Rating: E+

Eve Runcord: “Yes! Get him Cal!”

Harvey Manners: “Cal Sanders finally getting some revenge on Davie Renluenn after months of taunting!”

Eve Runcord: “Renluenn finally getting his comeuppance!”

Things are looking bad for Renluenn, as he can’t get to grips with an aggressive Cal Sanders. However, just when it looks like Sanders will get some real damage done, Canadian Crusher comes stomping out from the back and pulls Sanders off of Renluenn. Davie immediately rolls from the ring and staggers to the back, passing Paranoia en route.

Cal Sanders vs Paranoia vs Canadian Crusher

  • The match starts with Canadian Crusher beating on Sanders, having pulled the Canadian off of Renluenn.
  • Paranoia then gets involved, jumping on Candian Crusher from behind and applying a Sleeper Hold. Crusher immediately begins struggling, but Paranoia desperately hangs on. Eventually Crusher is able to throw the Paratrooper off, sending him crashing to the mat.
  • From this point Crusher is able to take control of the match, beating on his opponents in turn. Sanders is occasionally able to raise some resistance, but the power of Canadian Crusher is always able to put an end to his resistance.
  • One of the most impressive spots of the match sees Crusher hauling Paranoia up into position for a Military Press. Seeing Sanders return to his feet, Crusher throws Paranoia forwards right on top of Sanders, leaving both men down.
  • Crusher hauls Paranoia back to his feet and nails the Full Nelson Slam, before letting out a primal scream.
  • Seeing Sanders pulling himself up with the assistance of the ropes, Crusher charges at the ‘Leaping Lumberjack’. Showing great awareness, Sanders is able to pull the ropes down to send the oncoming Canadian Crusher flying over the top rope and crashing to the outside.
  • Seeing Paranoia down, Sanders quickly pulls himself to the top rope and nails the Frog Splash. Crawling into the cover, Sanders gets the three counts just before Canadian Crusher can get back in the ring.

In an extremely poor match, Cal Sanders defeated Canadian Crusher and Paranoia in 8:30 when Cal Sanders defeated Paranoia by pinfall with a Frog Splash.

Rating: E

Eve Runcord: “A big win for Cal Sanders there. I thought Canadian Crusher had that in the bag!”

Harvey Manners: “Crusher was impressive throughout, and really dominated his two opponents at times… however some quick thinking from Sanders proved enough to allow the ‘Leaping Lumberjack’ to take advantage of the triple threat conditions…”

Eve Runcord: “These multi-man matches seem to have a habit of producing winners from nowhere…”

Harvey Manners: “And of taking seeming victories away from competitors, such as this man. Alan Parent looked to have the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship won at ‘Enhanced Interrogation’, but due to the fatal four way stipulation he had the opportunity snatched from him.”

Alan Parent and Kammy Ling appear from behind the curtain, looking less happy than in previous weeks. The two quickly enter the ring, with Kammy Ling grabbing a microphone to talk on behalf of her client.

Kammy Ling: “At ‘Enhanced Intewogation’, I pwomised that Alan Pawent would become the Flowida Bay Heavyweight Champion. In gweat twavesty, that didn’t happen… and there’s only one person to blame... and that’s Skip Beau! Alan Pawent should be champion! He had the Pawental Lock locked in and Cal Sanders was tapping out… before Skip Beau stuck his nose in… Back in Japan we have saying: ‘the nail that stands out will be hammered down’. By diswespecting Puwowesu and pweventing Alan Pawent from becoming Flowida Bay Heavyweight Champion, Skip Beau has made himself stand out... and Alan Pawent will become hammer than knocks him down, and we will prove once and for all that Puwowesu rules! And you stooped Amewicans will finally wealise why Alan Pawent is big in Japan!”

Rating: E-

Eve Runcord: “She can’t seriously hold a grudge against Skip Beau for him trying to save his own championship ambitions… even if it was at the expense of her client.”

Harvey Manners: “I think she does. She is right that Cal Sanders was about to tap out before Skip Beau intervened, and that would have made Alan Parent Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion…”

Eve Runcord: “I’m not sure Skip Beau is a man Alan Parent wants to be going after. He must have 100 pounds on him…”

Harvey Manners: “Maybe so, but I don’t think we’ve seen the end of this one…”

Paradox vs Joffy Laine

  • Both men came into this match with a huge point to prove. For Joffy Laine it was about getting back the loss that he suffered to Paradox over 3 months ago at ‘Fight For Justice’.
  • For Paradox it was about trying to build some sort of momentum for his Paratrooper stable. The group had failed to pick up a win since Paradox’s last match with Laine, and as leader of the stable Paradox was keen to try and put an end to this run as soon as possible.
  • With both men having so much to gain, it was little surprise that they both looked to go on the attack from the opening bell.
  • Paradox looked to use his speed to try and take Joffy Laine off balance, but the Texan’s extra size and power allowed him to negate any speed advantage and quickly take control of the match.
  • Laine hit a number of high impact moves and looked to have the match in control. However his success would quickly go to his head, as he took too long setting up a Corner Splash and ended up eating nothing but turnbuckle as Paradox was able to roll out of the way.
  • Paradox looked to take advantage of the situation as he attempted a number of pinning combinations, earning a series of one and two counts, before nailing a dropkick to take Laine off his feet.
  • Despite a nice range of moves, Paradox could never quite do enough to put Joffy Laine away. This allowed the Texan to battle his way back into the match, as he managed to catch an onrushing Paradox with a Belly to Belly Suplex to turn the tide of the match.
  • Having seemingly learnt his lesson from earlier in the match, Joffy Laine was this time able to successfully land a Corner Splash on his prone opponent. Paradox staggered out of the corner, right into a Death Spiral from Joffy Laine… which proved more than enough to pick up the three count.

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Joffy Laine defeated Paradox in 7:42 by pinfall with a Death Spiral.

Rating: E

Harvey Manners: “And the Paratroopers recent struggles continue…”

Eve Runcord: “Paradox put up a good fight there though… Joffy Laine’s extra power just proved too much for the paratrooper in the end.”

Harvey Manners: “Is Paradigm the man to get the Paratroopers back on track? He may find things difficult, as he faces the ‘Purporesu Master’ Alan Parent…”

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/Paradigm_zps954d67b3.jpghttp://www2.picturepush.com/photo/a/6229145/1024/CZCW/VS.jpghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/AlanParent_zps08669c68.jpgw/http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff5/bennyd81/RTG/KammyLing_zpsd8a4e591.jpg

Paradigm vs Alan Parent w/ Kammy Ling

  • Alan Parent came into this match with a chip on his shoulder, after having the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship stolen away from him last time out.
  • Paradigm struggled to live with the ‘Puroresu Master’, as Parent showed off his wide variety of painful submission holds and deadly strikes.
  • Despite the impressive arsenal of moves on display, the Florida Bay crowd still didn’t warm to Parent and his ‘Puwowesu’ style, with large portions of the crowd vocal of their dislike of having to watch Parent wrestle.
  • Despite this, Parent was able to lock in his Parental Lock (Dragon Sleeper) and force Paradigm to tap out for an impressive victory.

In an extremely poor match, Alan Parent defeated Paradigm in 7:11 by submission with a Parental Lock.

Rating: E-

Eve Runcord: “The Paratroopers just can’t catch a break…”

Harvey Manners: “That was a match between two men with very different objectives. Alan Parent was desperate to prove he deserves a one on one title shot, whereas Paradigm was just desperate for a win…”

Eve Runcord: “Speaking of title shots, here comes the man who is somehow still Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion…”

Harvey Manners: “You and I may not like Nomad’s methods, but the man has had some major obstacles thrown in front of him in recent weeks and he is continually finding ways to get around them…”

Nomad is indeed on his way to the ring, and the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion is wearing an even more smug expression than usual. Nomad has a real swagger in his step, as he bad mouths the Florida Bay fans before grabbing a microphone and entering the ring.

Nomad: “Well isn’t this a turn up for the books… ‘Enhanced Interrogation’ was meant to see the end of my title reign. The numbers were stacked against me, I was facing two men who I had screwed in my last two title defences... odds like that would have done for a lesser wrestler, and yet here I am stood before you still the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion.”

The crowd immediately begin booing Nomad following this show of arrogance, not that this seems to worry the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion one little bit.

Nomad: “And the funny thing is that by trying to stack the odds against me so badly at ‘Enhanced Interrogation’, the people who run this company have left themselves with nobody worthy of challenging me. I’ve beaten everyone there is to beat in this company, so they’ve thrown an 18 year old kid into a title match. To call it a mismatch is doing my talents a disservice… no, I think it’s time for FBI wrestling should just do the honourable thing and accept that I am going to hold onto this belt until the day I leave this company, and…”

At this point Nomad is cut off by the arrival of Tex Tagan and Joffy Laine. The two Texans catch Nomad’s attention as they make their way down to the ring, and as they enter the ring one might even say that the champion is looking a little nervous.

Tex Tagan: “Now I must be hearin’ things… ‘cos I could have sworn I just heard you say that you’d ‘beaten everyone there is to beat’. Now, last time I checked I was unbeaten in this here company… so you ain’t beaten me!”

Nomad: “Now look…”

Tex Tagan: “You’ve had your time to talk. Now I’ve spent the last few months beatin’ asses and askin’ for the title shot I deserve. Well I’m done askin’ nicely, now I’m demanding a title shot. And if you don’t agree to give me one… well, me and Joffy here will have to introduce you to some of our famous Southern Hospitality…”

Nomad: (gulps) “You have a Number One Contenders Match tonight…”

Tex Tagan: “I shouldn’t have to fight no Number One Contenders Match! There ain’t nobody in this company who can match up to me, I’ve proved it. Whoevers agreed to this match must have a death wish…”

Nomad and Tagan look as if they might continue arguing all night, when a previously unseen wrestler appears from behind the curtain to interrupt the party…

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d105/jsilver536/KipKeenan.jpg

New kid on the block...

Unidentified Wrestler: “Well now seems like as good a time to introduce myself as any…”

The newly arrived wrestler wears a confident smile on his face as he surveys the wrestlers in the ring from afar. On commentary, Harvey Manners fills in those who have bought the DVD on who they are watching debut in FBIPW.

Harvey Manners: “That’s Kip Keenan, he’s been making waves working down in IPW with Nemesis! What’s he doing here?”[

Tex Tagan doesn’t seem as excited as Harvey Manners at the arrival of Kip Keenan…

Tex Tagan “So you’re my victim for tonight then powderpuff?”

Kip Keenan: (never breaking his smile) “I love the tough guy act… it’s so… original! I face bigger guys than you most weeks back in IPW, beat most of the as well… even if they are armed to the teeth with Steel Chairs and the like. So while you may have built something of a reputation as a violent individual, you’re looking at someone who’s never been afraid of a little violence. So you better bring your best tonight, or that title shot you want so badly might just slip through your fingers…”

Tex Tagan: “You may think things are violent in whatever hellhole you’ve dragged yourself out of, but you’ve never experienced anything like me… but where are my manners? You’re new here! And since I will be your first opponent here in FBIPW, I think it’s only right that I treat you to a little of my famous Southern Hospitality…”

The two men engage in a brief staredown, until Nomad cuts across them as he exits the ring.

Nomad: “You two can argue and posture all you want, because in the end it will be irrelevant. You (pointing at Tex Tagan) can win tonight, or you (pointing at Kip Keenan) can win tonight… it doesn’t matter, because when this title is on the line in two weeks time, there will only be one winner… because like it or not, I control the destiny of this title, and there’s nothing either of you, or the people who run this company, can do about it…”

Nomad, Tex Tagan and Joffy Laine Promo: Rating: E

Kip Keenan Debut: Rating: E-

Harvey Manners: “Tensions running high between those three men…”

Eve Runcord: “Do you think Kip Keenan can really knock off Tex Tagan?”

Harvey Manners: “As Kip Keenan said himself, he’s no stranger to violence having wrestled in IPW for the past year… but there’s a reason Tex Tagan is undefeated in FBIPW…”

Eve Runcord: “So what you’re saying is that you’re going to cop out of making a choice?”

Harvey Manners: “I’m saying that everyone will have to watch tonight’s Main Event to find out what happens!”

Skip Beau vs Davie Renluenn

  • Skip Beau used his size to great effect in this match, as he took control of the contest in the early goings with a series of power moves.
  • Renluenn struggled to impose himself on the match, as Beau simply overpowered him.
  • Beau looked to have things in hand, until Alan Parent appeared from the back and moved down to ringside.
  • Beau tried to ignore the ‘Puroresu Master’, but referee Charles Hapstander kept a close eye on Parent.
  • Renluenn looked in real trouble as Beau hit a Belly To Belly Suplex, but before Beau could attempt the pin Alan Parent hopped onto the apron for the distraction.
  • Referee Charles Hapstander immediately ran over to try and get Alan Parent off the apron, and while he was distracted Kammy Ling slid into the ring behind Skip Beau and delivered a low blow to take the big man off his feet.
  • With the dirty work done Parent dropped down off the apron, and Charles Hapstander turned back to the action just in time to see a recovered Davie Renluenn delivering a Forward Russian Legsweep to a depleted Skip Beau. Charles Hapstander hesitated, but as he hadn’t seen what had happened he had no choice but to count the three.

In an extremely poor match, Davie Renluenn defeated Skip Beau in 8:27 by pinfall with a Forward Russian Legsweep following interference from Alan Parent.

Rating: E

Harvey Manners: “I think we’ve just seen confirmation… Kammy Ling does hold Skip Beau responsible for costing Alan Parent the title, and she does hold a grudge about it…”

Eve Runcord: “Skip Beau had that match in hand… I can’t help but feel he’ll be looking for retribution for this…”

Harvey Manners: “Skip Beau is 6’8 and nearly 300lb… he’s not a guy I would go around pissing off. I hope the ‘Puroresu Master’ knows what he’s getting himself in for.”

Eve Runcord: “Alan Parent is delusional. He’ll probably be expecting a celebration party next show…”

Stanley Carpenter vs Nomad ©

Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship

  • Nomad clearly had his mind on other things in the early goings of this match, and didn’t pay enough attention to his young opponent. This allowed Carpenter to surprise Nomad with some nice Dropkicks and Clotheslines to take control of the early stages of the match.
  • This seemed to wake the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion to the fact that if he wasn’t careful he could lose his title tonight, and Nomad finally pulled his game back together and began stringing some moves together.
  • The momentum went back and forth, with young Stanley Carpenter giving Nomad as good as he got. The action was fast paced, and the two men showed great chemistry in the ring together.
  • While Carpenter’s youthful exuberance had served him well in the early part of this match, it would also prove his undoing. After connecting with an Enzuigiri, the youngster quickly headed to the top rope. Carpenter then attempted a Flying Dropkick on a rising Nomad… but the champion was able to roll away from the impact and send Carpenter crashing to the canvas.
  • Carpenter quickly battled back to his feet, but moved right into a Drift Shift that saw Nomad retain the title.

In an awful match that was completely devoid of heat, Nomad defeated Stanley Carpenter in 7:44 by pinfall with a Drift Shift. Nomad makes defence number 6 of his Florida Bay Heavyweight title.

Rating: E+

Harvey Manners: “Nomad retains… but the real story was the impressive performance by young Stanley Carpenter…”

Eve Runcord: “I honestly thought he had him once or twice in that match… that young man has got a bright future here in FBIPW.”

Harvey Manners: “I couldn’t agree more, but like you said that’s in the future… let’s move back to the present where one of these two men will be named the next challenger for Nomad’s Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship. Will Tex Tagan finally get the title shot he’s been craving, or will Kip Keenan make the most explosive debut in FBIPW history?”

Kip Keenan vs Tex Tagan

Number One Contenders Match

  • Tex Tagan came into this match with his usual air of confidence, but, unlike in previous weeks, his opponent didn’t seem intimidated by the Texan.
  • Kip Keenan took the fight to Tagan from off, and this one quickly descended into a brawl. A style which seemed to suit both men.
  • The action went back and forth, even spilling to the outside on occasion, with referee Charles Hapstander struggling to retain control.
  • Both men had opportunities to pick up the win, before a Double Clothesline around the 8 minute mark left both men down.
  • As the two men slowly struggled back to their feet, visibly feeling the effects of a physical encounter, Nomad came running down to the ring.
  • Charles Hapstander tried to remove Nomad from the ring, but the Florida Bay Heavyweight Champion ignored the referees warnings and instead delivered a shot to the rising Tex Tagan’s head with his Championship Belt.
  • Not content with his work, Nomad turned around and delivered a second title belt shot… this time to the cranium of Kip Keenan.
  • With both men down, Charles Hapstander had no choice to declare this one a no contest.

In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, the match was declared a no contest after 8:43 following interference from Nomad.

Rating: D-

Eve Runcord: “What the hell? Nomad has just had this number one contenders match thrown out!”

Harvey Manners: “Nomad declared that he alone controlled the destiny of the Florida Bay Heavyweight Championship… and I guess he just showed that here tonight…”

Eve Runcord: “But who’s the number one contender?”

As the commentators discuss the shocking conclusion to the Main Event, Joffy Laine slides into the ring… presumably to try and get some revenge for the attack on Tex Tagan. Unfortunately for Joffy, Nomad sees him coming and gives him a title shot to the face for his troubles. Surveying the destruction around him, Nomad smirks arrogantly as he raises his title high above his head.

Harvey Manners: “Nomad always seems one step ahead of his competitors, and he has proved it again tonight as he finds himself standing tall above the rest of FBIPW…”

Eve Runcord: “I don’t think this is the last we hear of this story…”

Harvey Manners: “Neither do I… who lies in wait for Nomad? Tex Tagan? Kip Keenan? Or somebody completely different. To find out be sure to join us for ‘Federal Investigation’. Thank you for watching and goodnight!”

Cal Sanders: “Toronto? .... I’m from Winnipeg you idiot!”

...so good...

That was a sweet show. I love Nomad's utter disregard for rules and his supposed control over the title scene...can't wait for Kip or Tex to finally take the title off of him.

I also love how you've characterised Kip! He's just so coolly bad ass..."I get regularly beaten with chairs...what of it?"

Thanks guys :)

I honestly struggled to write bits of the show, as it had been over a week since I ran it by the time I actually had time to sit down and write it, so I'm glad it came across okay.

I tend to dot a few stupid references to pro wrestling/popular culture in my writing, so I'm glad you picked up on the Jericho thing. As soon as I read that Cal Sanders was from Winnipeg in his bio, it was something that immediately popped into my head. I got a giggle out of it, and I'm glad that it seems you did as well. :)

I'm actually probably most happy that you liked what I did with Kip Keenan. I generally struggle to characterise babyfaces and make them interesting, so for you to enjoy a babyface of mine so early is a really good sign for me. I honestly just find Heel's much more interesting to write. I'm not sure what that says about me as a person, but we'll just brush over that. :p Case in point,I have two characters I want to bring in (characters not workers) when I make the jump to small, both are Heel characters. I have a possible Heel stable in mind for down the road (I'm talking a made for TV stable... so a long way down the road :p), and I actually have a possible turn in mind that I might do for one of my current faces down the road.

I mean looking at my roster, in terms of faces I have Sanders having his patience tested by Davie Renluenn, Skip Beau being... big, the Paratroopers sucking and my RTG character gaining experience. I think my preference for writing Heels has already come across. :o

“Timing is everything...”

I could not have asked to end June on a better note. On the eve of my six month review, we managed to put on our best show to date! While that was achieved primarily on the back of the Main Event between Tex Tagan and Kip Keenan, which was the best match in the company’s short history, there was a lot of other positive points coming out of the show. Kip Keenan’s debut went well, Cal Sanders finally standing up to Davie Renluenn seemed to go over well and I put on a pretty good match with Nomad in the most high profile match of my career to date... and it was all done in front of the second biggest crowd that FBIPW has ever drawn. This should buy me some breathing space in my meeting with Section Chief Davies next week...

July also started out on a positive note, as the accounts showed that we had managed to turn a $945 profit for the month. This leaves us with just under $10k in the bank after six months of operation, not bad considering we started all of this with only $1k. I think the first six months have been fairly successful, but I’m hoping that there’s a lot more to come...

OOC:

Sorry for the delay in getting the previous show up, I’ll try to keep it to at least one show a week going forwards. Thank you to Psycho Sam and shawn waters for their kind words about the show, and I hope their reaction is indicative of the general feeling towards the show. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read the show, and if anyone has any feedback or constructive criticism I always welcome it. :)

"Operation Lullaby"

Case Notes – Entry #17

Filed By: Ted McCulloch

Florida Bay International Pro Wrestling – May-June 2013

Promotion Development

May and June proved to be very positive months for FBIPW. Our show quality has continued to improve, best illustrated by ‘Law Enforcement, which has led to us drawing higher crowds. We continued our two shows per month experiment during May and June, while the experiment has been successful in improving our show quality, in previous months it has also caused us to lose money due to the extra appearance fees. However May and June saw us turn a profit while running two shows in a month for the first time. In May we managed a profit of just $24, but in June we made a much healthier $945. The bank balance currently sits at just under the $10k target I was set for year end of 2014, and if we continue our current progress we should have achieved this mark comfortable by the final quarter of 2013.

Agent Usage

Special Agent Cardillo and Special Agent Piercy have continued in their roles as Main Event Heel’s over the previous two months. Special Agent Cardillo has been booked strongly over this period with a 4-0 record, although these have all been in the middle of the card. He has also been involved in a long running storyline with Cal Sanders, which kicked up a gear at ‘Law Enforcement’. Expect Special Agent Cardillo to feature prominently in the coming months.

Special Agent Piercy has moved up the card over the past two months, moving away from his storyline with the Paratroopers and into the title picture. His record in May and June was 3 wins and 1 draw, and Special Agent Piercy remains undefeated in FBIPW. Special Agent Piercy’s match with Kip Keenan in the Main Event of ‘Law Enforcement’ was also the best match in FBIPW history. Expect Special Agent Piercy to remain in the title picture over the coming months.

Junior Agent Bruin has continued to do solid work in her role as Colour Commentator. She will remain in this role until such time as the SWF decide to launch a womens division. I remain convinced that this remains our best shot at getting Junior Agent Bruin noticed, and hired, by the SWF at the current time.

Future Plans

  • With the two show per month experiment now yielding results, both quality wise and financially, this will extend over the coming months.
  • Both Special Agent Cardillo and Special Agent Piercy will feature heavily in FBIPW shows over the Summer months, with both men featuring in prominent storylines.
  • With the recent improvement in show quality, I hope to report continued improvement in our fan base for the next report.

"Operation Lullaby"

Case Note – SWF Entry #18

Filed By: Ted McCulloch

Apparently pulling their lowest buy rate in over a decade did little to prompt the SWF into a change of strategy, as June saw the company continue to prioritise Supreme TV-exclusive feuds in favour of building to PPV’s. The ‘make people pay for the money matches’ philosophy seems to have been well and truly dropped by Supreme this year, evidenced once again by the continuation of the Jack Bruce and Christian Faith feud. These two men have been feuding for nearly three months now, and have been on opposing sides of the ring no fewer than six times... all on free TV. These are two of the most popular and marketable wrestlers in the world, and they are spamming matches between the two of them... for free. In singles competition the record stands at 2-2 heading into July, so one can only hope that this has all been building to a ‘once and for all’ show down on the grandest stage of them all... but this hasn’t been announced yet.

While PPV buy rates have plummeted in 2013, Supreme TV ratings have been building throughout the year... and why wouldn’t they? Going into ‘Times Of Trouble’, the best eight matches the SWF had put on in 2013 had all taken place on Supreme TV! While Rich Money and Remo’s spectacular match at ‘Times Of Trouble’ has made it eight of the top nine, the point still holds true.

Despite Money & Remo’s classic match, the buy rate for ‘Times Of Trouble’ was still terribly low. For a company pushing into the 4’s this time last year, the fact that they haven’t pulled anything above a 3.0 since January should be sending alarm bells ringing. In fairness to the company, they did at least try to create a little intrigue with the Money/Remo feud, with a tag match incorporating the Bruce/Faith feud to kick June off with a bang and then a Money/Remo Main Event that went to a no contest two days before the PPV. However despite being the first match to receive a decent build in months, Money and Remo weren’t even given the Main Event slot.

Instead that was given to the SWF World Heavyweight Championship match between the World Champion Steve Frehley and Marat Khoklov... whose contract means that he doesn’t work outside of PPV’s. This stipulation limits the amount of build and hype any Khoklov match can receive, but there are ways to work around it. They could have tried hype videos, or giving Frehley a bunch of promo time to hype how dangerous Khoklov is to his title... but Frehley didn’t mention the title match throughout the month. The match was announced by the commentary team two weeks before ‘Times Of Trouble’ during Frehley’s match against Vengeance in the semi-main event of the night, and then wasn’t mentioned again on Supreme TV the following week. So the Main Event of the PPV taking place a month before SWF’s biggest PPV of the year received precisely one passing mention on commentary during another match... and the SWF seriously expect people to buy this PPV?

With ‘The Supreme Challenge’ only two weeks away, no matches have been officially confirmed by the company. A few have been teased on Supreme TV, but given the SWF’s current booking strategy these matches could just as easily take place next week. One rumour going around the internet is Brandon James being touted as a possible challenger for Frehley’s SWF World Heavyweight Championship. The two have been involved in a number of confrontations over the past few weeks, but will the SWF follow through with the feud, or just throw another random ‘big name’ opponent in front of Frehley?

I remain concerned by the SWF’s blatant disregard towards the success of their own PPV’s. These should represent a significant chunk of the company’s income, so their failure should be raising more alarm bells than it has done to date. My only thought is that the company must be banking on a hugely successful Supreme Challenge, and that they plan to ‘stack the card’. However if this fails to materialise over the next week or two, I would recommend a closer investigation into just how the SWF have been making their money...

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey guys,

Unfortunately I come to you as the bearer of bad news. Yesterday, for the second time in three years, my laptop decided to die on me... and for the second time this has caused the premature end of one of my TEW diaries. :(

This is very frustrating for me personally, as I had some really fun ideas for the growth of FBIPW (both in terms of new characters/character development and in terms of the presentation of the diary), and was really looking forward to growing the diary in that way. I had also finished writing 'Federal Investigation' on Saturday night, but decided against posting it right away (which with hind sight I now regret), and had planned to post it yesterday morning after a quick proof read. Unfortunately yesterday my laptop refused to turn on at all, and despite my best efforts I couldn't persuade it to change it's mind. This means I have lost the save file, which I rather absent mindedly failed to back up.

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who supported me during this diary. It has definitely had the best following of any of my diaries to date, which gives me great motivation to try something new (once I've sorted out transferring my TEW licence to my new laptop). It was certainly a fun idea that got my creative juices flowing... and I can only apologise that this ended so abruptly, and just hope that you enjoyed the ride while it lasted.

Thanks again.

Just stumbled across this diary through falling down a rabbit hole, and read the first 8 pages so far! Replying so it comes to the top of the 2013 dynasties list and I can find it again easily to finish! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
