Unright's Watcher Diary

I loaded up and started the Effingverse from i effin rule. Then I imported in the companies and workers from the default CornellVerse and from Genaldi's real world 2001 mod.

Starting date is set for March 1920. New worker frequency is set to Very High until some of the pre-made workers start joining the game.

<strong>Recap/Notes:</strong></p><p>

The big news, of course, is that Don Loomis decided to trailblaze and opened up the very first wrestling company called Southern Pro Wrestling. His lifelong buddy Frank Norris is running things and the preset roster is destined for great things as they will make up the majority of the first shows. The first instinct was to go with Australian actor Levi Andrews as the franchise since he might be well-known, but that quickly soured once they saw him in action. Brit Sir Anthony Henry soon won the ambitiously named SPW World title and had a good run, but Florida-born brutish Herman Lyttle hit the Face Crusher to end the year with the title after a good string of top matches. </p><p> </p><p>

One of Loomis' opening roster decided to branch out and try to open a fed in a seperate territory and lo, Joe Boone's Simply Awesome Wrestling was born and run by fellow SPW star Daniel Loiselle. The roster is extremely similar (they even hired Loomis and Norris as a sign of good faith), but features a few differences. In their only card they seized upon these differences by having SAW exclusives Gabriel Hayes and Duane Smith win their singles titles. </p><p> </p><p>

Near the end of the year, another new promotion sprang up. This time in Hawaii of all places. SPW stars Friedrich Herzog and Saita Kuroki own and run the company, known as Kanzen Pro, and have promised never to run shows in SPW's territory. The one thing they've been good on is promoting themselves and thus they are technically the top influencial wrestling promotion despite not running a show yet.</p>

Recap/Notes:

1921 has ended and I'm not sure where to begin. The two major news stories are the rise of Herman Lyttle as one of the emerging stars and the debut of 3 new promotions. Sort of.

Herman Lyttle has spent most of the year carrying Southern Pro Wrestling as their World champion before losing the title to Emilio Suarez who he's been sharing the majority of his awesome matches with. He's also been headlining shows for Rocky Mountain Wrestling in the North West and in the South West's Simple Awesome Wrestling before quitting late in the year. He has been a welcome humble champion in the face of some huge emerging egos. The most notorious two are Dale Allen and Anthony Michaels. Both of whom have been politicking heavily backstage and setting horrible precedents like Michaels quitting immediately after being booked to lose the RMW Tag titles. Lyttle and Allen are reputed to have a immense dislike of each other.

Speaking of dislike, lifelong friends Don Loomis and Frank Norris have some simmering tension between them, apparently stemming from some unknown indicident at Simply Awesome Wrestling. Both are being professional and are still running SPW together, but nerves are frayed.

In promotion news, there is some new competition but SPW is holding strong as the top wrestling company in the world. Rocky Mountain Wrestling (owned and run by Gabriel Hayes and the British Sir Anthony Henry) has been running some successful shows in Alaska while Pro Wrestling MAX (their capital letters, not mine) opened up shop in Arizona and are loosely affiliated with Southern Pro Wrestling (a working agreement). They are competing directly with the floundering Simply Awesome Wrestling. There has been much speculation as to why SAW is floundering. Some say it's Daniel Loiselle's poor booking and inability to keep big stars like Lyttle and Allen other say that it's comedic stylings are misunderstood by a public craving a more traditional product.

The mysterious island promotion Kanzen Pro still has yet to hold a show or even hire a wrestler. Interviews with booker Saita Kuroki reveals that he doesn't want just another promotion of brawlers and strongmen. He is looking for more athletic wrestlers and he has yet to find anyone that fits the bill. He says he is willing to be patient. In international news, several independent wrestling shows have been popping up around the world, most notably in Japan, Mexico, and Canada. There doesn't appear to be any overall organization or governing body, but very recently an "official" registered promotion opened in Canada called the Canadian Women's Wrestling Federation. However it is widely considered to be a dummy tax company not worth writing about except for the strange story surrounding Bonnie Dale. Ms. Dale was a commentator for SAW for abruptly quitting in the middle of some scandal involving immoral behavior. Days later, the CWWF opens up and declares themselves openly hostile with SAW. The story has cooled, but heads are being scratched.

I'll be following. I love seeing all the ways this universe branches out. Always noticed that Kanzen is one of the companies that takes quite a while to get a roster together.

How many companies are in the database total with you?

Thanks for following. I love watcher/early effingverse diaries and I didn't see any ongoing ones, so I figures I'd start one up.

Kanzen Pro has some Hiring Rules built in. New hires must be unemployed, max-size of Middleweight, and must use a style of spot monkey/luchador/cruiserweight/Japanese junior. Which means that they are waaay ahead of their time. Similarly, the CWWF won't be running any shows for a while either. There are currently only 6 female wrestlers, only two of which can work in Canada. Both federations will gain money, but lose prestige.

I have 195 companies in the database. Most have specific start dates, but some are random.

Recap/Notes:

1922 was a odd year in wrestling, a transitional year. Some of the earlier companies like Southern Pro Wrestling and Rocky Mountain Wrestling have found their grove and have really gotten to work on developing the skills of their roster and climbing that overness and prestige ladder to success. SPW in particular is leading the way by becoming the first regional promotion. Which means that they have to expand and concur new markets to be able to grow further. Though for reasons of their own, they've kept their roster relatively small.

Several new promotions rose up this year in many new markets. In Mexico, Fantastic Entertainment Wrestling (FEW) is attracting a new style of wrestler: the luchador, both masked and unmasked. While in Europe, a notorious asshole named Noach Van Der Wath opened Pride of Germany (PoG) where he has been ruthlessly bullying his employees.

However it's been a darker year as well. SPW mainstay and Kanzen Pro "owner" Friedrich Herzog has broken his leg during a match and was out for 6 months. Pro Wrestling MAX's World champion Jerome Sapir sustained a hernia, forcing him to relinquish his title. A young Japanese wrestler (Kiyohira Arai) was killed in a tragic javelin accident. Two wrestlers were involved in minor police incidents and another was caught with steroids.
