PFElton Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 SWF The World Is Watching - Thursday, Week 3 April, 1997 Maryland Wood - Baltimore, Maryland Attendance: 30,000 - SOLD OUT PRE-SHOW MATCH: Adonis Vs. Alex Pierce - Adonis' punishment for his behavior continues with this job to Alex Pierce, the rugged old brawler easily getting the better of him. Powerbomb for the pin. Final Score: D PRE-SHOW SEGMENT: A car arrives in the parking lot and Christian Faith steps out of it, grabbing his gear and heading to the back. Final Score: B Rick Horn Vs. Rory McCallum - I am almost in total shock as to how good this match was. Rick Horn and Rory McCallum went together like peas and carrots in this fistfight, and it had an old-fashioned no holds barred feel to it. Plenty of eye rakes, choke holds, turnbuckle chokes with the boot, and dropping the opponent's neck on the ropes. The fans got behind Rick and were disappointed when Rory ducked a clothesline and turned to catch him in a Sleeper for the submission. The crowd threw heat at him and he threw it right back. Final Score: C+ The crowd pops big time when Sean McFly's face appears on the Supreme Screen, Victoria hanging on his shoulder. Sean says in a very solemn tone that beating Bruce has become his everything, and that he needs to prove to the world that the Giant isn't as tough as everyone thinks he is. Final Score: B SWF North American Title Match, Captain USA Vs. Honest Frank - Honest Frank's heel work is what made this match decent, acting as if he would allow Captain USA to wave the flag before the match then attacking, acting as if to let Captain stand then putting a few more boots on, etc. Captain USA would lose the war with Beautiful Babetter jumping on the ropes to argue with him in distraction to allow Frank to roll him up for the pinfall and title change. Final Score: C- Masked Patriot Vs. Sam Keith - This match started strong and ended weak, with Masked Patriot running out of fuel five minutes too early. Sam Keith ended up carrying the rest of the contest by slapping on various submissions, including his Proton Lock for the tap-out. This contest could have been so much more if it didn't have to finish with a series of anticlimactic holds. Final Score: C Bruce the Giant Vs. Sean McFly - Everyone knows that Bruce the Giant's matches come off good not because of his limited in-ring ability but because of the crowd's reaction, and this one fell in the same way even with Sean's impeccable ability softening it. Bruce overpowered him from the getgo and every trick Sean had up his sleeve failed; his crossbody's were caught and turned in to slams, his Leg Sweeps simply bounced off, he couldn't even get a headlock on, and a back suplex resulted in Bruce just falling on him for a very near fall. At the last Sean managed to bring down the Giant by dropkicking his knee, but Bruce got back up before Sean could pop off a Flying Elbow and hit a Giant Chokeslam from the top turnbuckle to collect the pinfall. Final Score: B- Bruce acted as if he never heard the bell, lifting Sean up for another Giant Chokeslam; and when Victoria got in the ring to beg him to stop he only laughed his terrible laugh and hit a third Giant Chokeslam. This was, of course, followed by a fourth Giant Chokeslam while Victoria sobbed in the corner, and only a small army of staff managed to call him off from a fifth while medical personnel tended to Sean McFly. The crowd was ready to riot. Final Score: B+ Christian Faith Vs. Mr. Supreme - This match carried the card in terms of length. Christian indeed did the most asking if Mr. Supreme quit or not, and yet Supreme hit some key reversals in moments when Christian Faith dropped his guard. Eventually Supreme got the upper hand and it was Christian who had to fight dirty to keep in the game with a lowblow of his own. The match spilled to the outside and Mr. Supreme toe-dropped Christian Faith on to the steel steps, knocking him out cold. With Faith unable to answer the question if he quit or not the referee called for the bell and Mr. Supreme's victory. Final Score: B- A really cool video package plays for the Street Brothers, from their early days in the SWF to them winning the Tag Team Titles together. It finished with a quick recap of their feud. Final Score: B SWF World Heavyweight Title Match, Sid Streets Vs. Dusty Streets - The brothers went berserk on each other before the bell, resulting in a wild opening brawl that Dusty came out on top of after an eye-rake. Dusty took his time attacking his brother and kept control the majority of the match by going after Sid's arms, but the Champion shoved off a headlock and went through a sequence of shoulder tackles. Even Emma Chase trying to get his attention by leaning wayyyy over the ring ropes didn't work as a bodyslam preceded the Road to Freedom for the pinfall victory. Final Score: B- This was a better show than I thought the SWF was capable of anymore. There was no stand-out super matches but the skits between them were. Final Rating: B-
PFElton Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 The Elton Sheets - Saturday, Week 3 April, 1997 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -The buy rate for SWF The World Is Watching has been reported as a 0.85, up from Awesome Impact's 0.76. -We unfortunately have to report that Vin Tanner's knee surgery did not go over well. Tanner suffered a shattered knee during a six-man tag match in February and knew the experimental binding may not go as planned. While he is in no serious risk the knee is not expected to recover as planned or on the original timetable. Nonetheless, he signed a written contract to DAVE last week. -The hour of judgement has come and gone in Allentown, Pennsylvania and the results are stunning. Aside from Jerry Eisen and Phil Vibert we can confirm the other six attendees to be: Dick the Devastator, XFW Owner Duncan Kendall, Pat Deacon, RPW Owner Preston Holt, Rocky Streets, and NYCW Owner The Stomper. The meeting was four hours, and the participants joined Phil Vibert in a press conference shortly thereafter. The dozen or so reporters included personnel from ACE and GNN Total Sports as well as America-Sports-1 and other, more minor journalism organizations(big shoutout to our competitors Canadiaction.com and WorldWrestlingFeatured.net!). -Phil Vibert's opening statements revolved around the bombshell of securing a Pay-Per-View agreement with American Option. Vibert says he and all of DAVE are very excited to join the "Supreme" pay-per-view market and bring DAVE to fans across the country. Vibert said that with the ending of "the media-titled" East Coast Wars DAVE can now rise to compete with "more established competitors". Phil Vibert says he considers DAVE's hardcore reputation to be too exclusive of the other components of his product and says he and his wrestlers are more than prepared to provide an alternative. With The Stomper and Preston Holt stepping up, Phil Vibert then announced the creation of a nationwide "umbrella" organization called the American Coalition of Independents, designed to better protect the independent-level. Phil Vibert says The Stomper's New York City Wrestling and Preston Holt's Rapid Pro Wrestling are the two founding members before closing the Press Conference with no Q-and-A with reporters. There will undoubtedly be tons of details emerging in the coming days and weeks and we will do our best to stay on top of the news. The creation of this American Coalition of Independents is unprecedented and one can only imagine the speculation that will swarm our forums and others. As of this writing, SWF.com has not provided a preview.
PFElton Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 SWF Supreme TV Results - Tuesday, Week 4 April, 1997 Waterloo University Arena - Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Attendance: 3,658 Sam Keith gets some heat from the Canadian fans when he heads to the ring, looking quite dapper. Sam Keith says Masked Patriot is nothing but an oversized punk like the rest of the oversized punks on the roster, and that the only challenge around for him is regaining the SWF World Heavyweight Title. Final Score: C Colin Kennedy Vs. Bruce the Giant - Bruce only needs a couple of minutes to rip Colin apart with bearhugs and headbutts and clubbing fists. Giant Chokeslam for the pinfall. The Canadian fans give him nowhere the same heat he gets Stateside. Final Score: D+ Bruce gets a microphone and says he's never had more fun then breaking Sean McFly apart and watching Victoria Stone cry. Bruce says he's going to break everyone else until he gets the SWF Title. The line about Victoria Stone garnered plenty of abuse - the only line to do so. Final Score: B- SWF World Tag Team Titles Match, Perfect Storm Vs. Cap'n Crush/No Way Jose - Pretty standard tag team bout with Champs Perfect Storm getting in all their high spots - until the young duo of Reece Clark and Ethan Phillips attack the champs and give Perfect Storm the DQ victory. Futureshock bolts as quick as they came while Perfect Storm recover in the ring. Final Score: C- In the locker room the Street Brothers are being held apart by staff, throwing taunts at each other and proclaiming their friend (Skull Das Bones or Alex Pierce) will win tonight. Final Score: C Alex Pierce Vs. Skull Das Bones - Alex Pierce started strong, reversing a suplex and a few other basic maneuvers; but Skull doesn't take all that long to get rolling, whipping out a huge Swinging DDT to stop the older brawler in his tracks. Some stiff strikes follow before the Vengeance Drop gets the pinfall. Crowd was really dead. Final Score: D+ On the stage Tommy Cornell comes for an interview with Danny Jillefski. Tommy says there's nothing honest about Honest Frank and says he wants another title shot. Final Score: D Mr. Supreme Vs. Flare - A pretty high-flying bout like the ones we saw in their feud a couple months ago. Flare wows the crowd with his flying lariats but Supreme catches one and turns it in to a Crossface. Not long after comes the Simply Supreme Suplex for the pinfall. Final Score: C Christian Faith's music hits and the champ charges the ring - with relatively little fanfare - and attacks Mr. Supreme, tackling him and pummeling him with punches. They eventually roll out to ringside where security manages to pull them apart. Final Score: C Um, no. This show didn't work because going from 12,000 to 4,000 with a relatively unfamiliar crowd is not the way to follow up a PPV. Final Rating: C
Big Roguey Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 Been reading along. Great work here PFElton. I like how the booking is done with the top stars being protected. And the ACoI is a nice touch, did anything happen in the game to prompt that happening or was it planned from the beginning?
PFElton Posted March 12, 2013 Author Posted March 12, 2013 Hey MichiganHero, I really appreciate the compliment. You're a lone voice in what I've privately nicknamed The Silent Observers. xD The logic behind the creation of the ACI is the fashion of the ending of the East Coast Wars. Unlike in canon, DAVE has not bought the other three out; DAVE has simply grown exponentially (maybe a little too fast) and the "War" is irrelevant. My thinking was ACI being a concoction between Phil and Jerry to gain the wide support of what's left of the Indies and the support of some respected old-timers. Further, it simply makes sense for the Indies to create a failsafe against the monstrous SWF. So in short, no, nothing happened mechanically to lead me to that conclusion, I just thought it would make sense for Vibert to demonstrate himself as a liberator, not a conqueror, to the Indies while he prepares for the fight of his life.

Sid 'the Kid' says he will be watching the Beat-The-Clock challenge closely, and though his respects his opponents he's beaten them all one after another for the Title and he'll beat them again. Really basic promo but everything was worded well and Sid had the crowd begging for more. Final Score: B+</span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> Ethan Philips Vs. Stuart Storm - Stick to the tag teaming, guys. This match was so void of any real rhyme or reason, Stuart trying to lead Ethan around to hit all his, well, tag team spots that made so sense with just one guy doing them. The only reaction from the crowd was Ethan Phillips pulling the tights to get the pin with a rollup and even that was pretty minute. Final Score: D-</span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> Honest Frank comes to the stage (with Beautiful Babette in tow) for an interview with Danny Jillefski. Final Score: C-</span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> Beat-The-Clock Challenge, Bruce the Giant Vs. Alex Pierce - Bruce and Alex had a pretty OK slugfest here; if only Pierce sold Bruce's attack more it may have been a bit more buyable. Alex tries to fistfight with the big man and that fails (as did any and all attempt at applying a hold or performing a slam), causing him to eat a big boot and take a Giant Chokeslam for the pinfall. Time set: 7:54. Final Score: C</span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> On the Supreme Screen, Rory McCallum and Danny bruce wish Masked Patriot poor luck in his upcoming match, with Rory calling him a "ninny" in between his snarlish lines. Masked Patriot - Streets had no trouble taking charge of the early match, reversing holds with ease and adding insult to injury by slapping the back of Masked Patriot's head every time. Masked Patriot finally reversed a reversed wristlock and turned it in to a shoulder tackle that got a nice pop to get back in the game. Dusty Streets slowly lost control (and composure when he saw he hadn't beaten Bruce's time), but regained focus from a temper tantrum just in time to take a big clothesline. A running faceplant got Masked Patriot worked up and the Patriot Slam actually scored the pinfall, 123. Fans were a bit stunned. Final Score: C</span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> Beat-The-Clock-Challenge, Sam Keith Vs. Christian Faith - Sam, apparently unaware of who his opponent was going to be, grew irate when Christian Faith's music hits; naturally, he went berserk on the champ, going from strike to hold back to striking sequence. Of course Christian returned it and all his moves came with it, from jawbreakers to neckbreakers to hip tosses. The dreaded Ref bump happened when Sam Keith shoved the referee in front of a running back elbow, and Mr. Supreme wasted little time hitting the ring and clobbering Faith with a chair. Sam Keith applied the Proton Lock while the crowd counted down the time for the Beat-The-Clock Challenge, and the referee did stir to see Christian Faith tapping; unfortunately for Sam Keith, it was 8 seconds too late. Final Score: B-</span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#4169E1;"> What a really different-seeming show. PFElton Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Hey guys. Here's what I think I'm going to do: I think I'm going to take a hiatus from this diary and take off on a Real-World Diary. I know things are just starting to get interesting on this one but I've really burnt myself out and I think a fun Monday Night War diary would be a welcome change of pace. This is by no means the end of this diary because I think there is a good story to tell. Catch you guys in my new Diary.
