LSWA: The Mid-South Will Rise [ThunderVerse]

Hello, my name is Frank Kubrick, and I've wrestled all over the world. I wrestled in the WWWE, I made my name in UPJ. Hell, I even wrestled in the finals of the first ever Ozeki Summit back in '90. Gave Ichiro Mishima the a$$whipping of his life, too. Thing is, you can take Frank Kubrick out of the Lone Star State, but you can't ever take the Lone Star State out of good ol' Frank Kubrick!

You see, I've seen the WWWE rise from up north, and they fell. I've seen the RAWA rise in the Carolinas, and they fell. I've seen the AWF rise from Hollywood today, but I'm sure they'll fall. Same with those heartless fools up in Boston, PWI. Integrity my a$$. Shane Allman makes Turner Paige look like a choir boy. What makes them all temporary is they didn't have, or don't have, any Texas.

This state grounds you and it gives you the strength to accomplish greatness. When you're from Texas, you know you're going to make it or die in flames trying. But either way, you know it's going to be one hell of a ride! This is the story of my ride - to try and make the Mid-South rise with my vision of Texas Wrasslin', the Lone Star Wrestling Alliance!

Roster A-D

http://i1254.photobucket.com/albums/hh611/AXEMantis/e65b9565.jpg

I searched high and low for wrestlers that fit what my idea of Texas wrasslin' was and here's what I came up with. Let's see if this motley crew can get the job done and take the Mid-South to where it belongs - right next to Tri-State and the Southwest when you think about regions for wrasslin' in the good ol' US of A.

ARES

Finisher: High Release German Suplex

TEW.com Profile: Ares is a native of Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, and is unbelievably tough. Despite his short frame, Ares weighs in at 270 pounds and can throw men overhead at a moments notice with explosive suplexes. Street smart and animalistic, thanks to his pure aggression Ares was one of the first stars in PWSUX, despite not being overtly hardcore in nature. A falling out with owner Derrick Moore over Moore’s breaching of a verbal agreement, Ares left the company in 2007, and moved to LETHAL in Japan. While never competing in the most hardcore bouts the company had to offer, Ares again gained a following purely down to his unstoppable barrage and explosiveness. In 2010, finding himself limited by the product, Ares headed back to the United States.

Frank's Take: Flat out, this boy is shoe leather tough and twice as ugly. He's willing to take on anyone even though he's not the tallest guy, and he's one ornery hombre to boot. I think this guy's gotta lot to offer LSWA.

<a href="http://smg.beta.photobucket.com/user/gbasalmon/media/ThunderVerse/Workers/PrincipeAzteca.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/gbasalmon/ThunderVerse/Workers/th_PrincipeAzteca.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo PrincipeAzteca.jpg"></a>

AZTEC PRINCE

Finisher: Blood Call (top-rope senton)

TEW.com Profile: Eduardo Ruiz is a young Mexican wrestler with a bright future who is currently wrestling as Príncipe Azteca II. His father, the original Príncipe Azteca, had a decent career wrestling in CLLM and in a number of smaller regional promotions across Mexico. The man under the second iteration of the mask is hoping that he'll be able to surpass his father's legacy, and while still a little green, he looks like he might have the skills to become a real star in lucha libre.

Frank's Take: I never wrestled his father, but I heard that he was definitely someone who could handle himself, and his son seems no different. With some seasoning, I think he could be a real player in America.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/gbasalmon/ThunderVerse/Workers/BearRusev.jpg

BEAR RUSEV

Finisher: Bear Trap (running powerslam)

TEW.com Profile: Bear Rusev is a big Bulgarian-American brawler named after the legendary Bulgarian boxer Alexsandr Rusev. A former strongman, a one-time boxer and a man with one of the hardest punches in the business, Rusev cuts a formidable figure in the ring. As one might expect, Rusev's game is almost entirely strike-based, and against technical wrestlers his shortcomings become glaringly apparent. Outside of the ring, Rusev is a chess afficionado and was once one of the finest young players in the United States.

Frank's Take: If we give this guy a mouthpiece, I think he could go far. He hits like a ton of bricks, which I can definitely respect. Kinda like Aztec Prince, once he gets some more seasoning he'll be just fine.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/gbasalmon/ThunderVerse/Workers/Blue-EyedBobby.jpg

"BLUE-EYED" BOBBY BENTON

Finisher: Bobby Press Slam (gorilla press slam)

TEW.com Profile: Bobby Benton is one of those annoying people that is happy all the time. An extremely likeable individual, no one dared to risk hurting his feelings by telling "Blue-Eyed" Bobby that he lacked the physique, the agility and the stamina to be a professional wrestler. So, without a naysayer in sight, Bobby worked his way through a local wrestling school and debuted in the summer of 2011. As it happens, Benton's love for the sport seems to have set him in good stead and despite his failings he is actually a decent prospect. Charismatic, and probably the world's most natural babyface, Bobby might not ever make it to the top of the card, but he is bound to have a fun career all the same!

Frank's Take: Every promotion needs a few guys whose reason for being is staring up at the lights for three seconds every night. Unless he hits some sort of developmental jackpot, I don't foresee Bobby here ever amounting to much more than a job-boy. Plus, he's so damn cheery all the time!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/gbasalmon/ThunderVerse/Workers/ChadZuma.jpg

CHAD ZUMA

Finishers: Z-Bomb (sit-out powerbomb); Clothesline from Cape Town (short-arm clothesline)

TEW.com Profile: Chad Zuma is a South African professional wrestler who revolutionised the sport in his home country. Until the mid-2000s wrestling in South Africa largely consisted of American touring promotions and local feds trying to emulate what they had seen on TV. Having wrestled as local talent on some of these events, including one of the WWWE's last ever touring shows in late 2000, Chad Zuma had already learnt from some of the world's best. The son of an influential Johannesburg businesswoman, Zuma and his mother went on to form the first nationally televised African wrestling promotion in a deal with one of the country's biggest networks. After ten years as the face of South African wrestling, Zuma finally left his country behind in 2012 to a 20,000 strong standing ovation. Zuma's destination was America, where he hopes his success overseas will inspire his fellow South Africans to join the sport he loves.

Frank's Take: I see money in this guy. He's got a history of carrying a whole company on his back, even if it was all the way across the Atlantic. If we position him right, he could take us far.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/gbasalmon/ThunderVerse/Workers/DanielAzaria.jpg

"DARK HORSE" DANIEL AZARIA

Finisher: Full of Pride (piledriver)

TEW.com Profile: Daniel Azaria is the first man to ever train under the great Puerto Rican star Cordero Calderon. Debuting in the Legacy Wrestling Association in 2010, "Dark Horse" Azaria immediately made his mark by pinning Baby Face Reed in his first match with the company. Much like his mentor, Azaria is a fiery brawler who is intensely proud of his Puerto Rican heritage. In fact, Azaria is so like his mentor that many see him as the ideal candidate to replace him when he retires.

Frank's Take: This kid's got enough heart that he's going to go far in this business. If he's anything like his mentor Calderon, he's a charismatic brawler that will get people behind him real easy. I just hope he's not as much of an egotistical, self-important idiot as Calderon is.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/gbasalmon/ThunderVerse/Workers/DuaneDavies.jpg

"HELLBOY" DUANE DAVIES

Finisher: Hangin' With Helboy (hanging neckbreaker)

TEW.com Profile: Orlando-born professional wrestler "Hellboy" Duane Davies makes up one-half of brawling tag team The Street Survivors. The southern duo first debuted in the WWWE shortly before its closure, and have since gone on to wrestle in every major indy promotion in the States. Street Survivor matches are usually hard-hitting and more than a little rugged, often ending with one or both of the pair covered in blood.

Frank's Take: This "Hellboy" has been around for a deceptive amount of time. He and his partner go all the way back to the 'E. He's a good hand in the ring and is a fiery brawler, but I just don't see the same spark that his partner has.

A regular on the Canadian independent scene ever since his debut, Chester is a technically sound wrestler who has always lacked the edge to ever become a real force in wrestling. While most of his career has been spent in Canada, Chester has made the occassional appearance in the United States where, more often than not, he is used to help put a rising youngster over, while imparting some his wrestling knowledge at the same time.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

He may not be the flashiest worker around, but he's the kind of guy who could be the glue that holds matches together and invaluable in bringing up what's sure to be some green-as-grass rookies.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Finisher: Kendall Nerve Finch (nerve pinch)</strong></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>TEW.com Profile: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Finch James Kendall is a thirteen year veteran worker from Madison, Wisconsin who is most famous for his run in Pro Wrestling Integrity. In the Boston promotion, F.J. was renowned for being a totally consistent worker. From 2002 – 2010, F.J. was one of the go to guys to work a program with a new wrestler to make him look good, and the highlight of which was a Tag Team Championship win with Lukas Meunecker in 2005.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

While you’re never going to see something spectacular from Kendall, if you want to see somebody turn in a respectable and professional performance time and time again then you can't do a lot better. He departed PWI in 2010 on amicable terms, feeling he'd done all he could in the promotion for the current moment and opted to try his hand elsewhere. After a couple of years on the indy scene, for which Kendall won the 2012 Independent Wrestler of the Year award, the veteran joined GAW for their 2012 winter tour.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Frank's Take: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> There are few things I value more than consistency. If I know I'll get a honest night's work out of you every night, you've got a good shot at stickin' around if I've got anything to say about it. He may not be the prettiest worker in the world, but he sure as hell gets the job done.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>TEW.com Profile: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">"Too Tough" Gino Palermo is an Italian-American wrestler from New York City who has been wrestling on the independent scene since 1994. Outside of losing a few squash matches for the WWWE, Palermo has somehow managed to avoid performing for a big promotion despite some decent wrestling skills.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Frank's Take: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something special about Gino. He's got all the toughness, he's got a bit of charisma, he just hasn't got the break he's needed. At 38, the clock is ticking for him big-time. Maybe we can be that break, if he earns it.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Having had to play the wrestling electrician, alligator catcher, and mystic over the years, Haven was understandably relieved when the WWWE died and he was free to create a character of his own. Starting out on the new indy scene as a 'bad ass' under his own name, Haven impressed enough to be signed to the opening show of the AWF. Released in 2008, feeling that he still wasn't realising his full potential, Haven began wrestling as "Hardcore" Steve Haven, eventually shortened simply to Hardcore Haven, a tough S.O.B. who carried chairs and other weapons to the ring with him.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Frank's Take: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">This guy had the misfortune of getting all of Turner Paige's "creative genius"'s pet ideas thrown at him, but he came out the other side and that I can respect. What I can't respect is people who treat the world like it owes them something. If this guy doesn't tow the line here, you can be sure he'll go right back to caving in tables and swinging chairs in bingo halls.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>"COWBOY" JACK FORD</strong></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>TEW.com Profile: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">"Cowboy" Jack Ford is a veteran professional wrestler from Kansas who has been playing the part of the hard-hitting cowboy since the late 1980s. Old-school even by the standards of the 1980s, Ford initially struggled to become more than an opening level heel even in the few sparse Southern territories. That all changed when maverick promoter Carlton Ohio III teamed Ford up with George 'Slip' McGavin, a comedy clown/mime character. The oddball duo were a surprising hit with fans, as Ford's straight-laced character played the perfect foil for the slapstick behaviour of McGavin.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Although Ford and McGavin have never wrestled higher than the independent scene, they have made a decent career for themselves all the same.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Frank's Take: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Jack's a bit of a hard case; he's never had much of a shot at anything big-time, so he's got some hard miles on him from grinding on the indy scene here down South. Far as I can tell, he's got some knowledge to impart and, by God, he'll do it. Oh, and that Slip McGavin ain't coming anywhere near my LSWA. Rodeo-clown lookin' jacka$$...</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>TEW.com Profile: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Juventud 'Juvi' Rivas is an exciting young luchador from Xalapa, Mexico who has been wrestling across his home country for the past two years. While many of his fellow rookies are taking the high-flying portion of lucha libre to the extreme, Rivas has opted for an all-round approach to his ring game and the result is a style very similar to that of a younger Héctor Yzaguirre. In fact, having made it clear that he is open to work in both Mexico and the United States, Rivas appears to have modelled his early career on the former CLLM champion.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

While Rivas is yet to appear for any of Mexico's name promotions, if he continues to impress on the independent scene he may well make the step up in the next couple of years.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

Green, green, green. Hell, I asked him what his finisher was and you known what he told me? "Senor Kubrick, I haven't won a match yet. I don't know what this finisher is you speak of." Well I'll be damned, he may not win one for a while in LSWA, but he's got that spark of greatness that we'll be fixin' to coax out of him a lot as we go forward.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>TEW.com Profile: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Major Damage has been watching professional wrestling since he was just 6 years old. A huge fan of Terry Thunder, Damage was set to enter wrestling training when he left school before the family occupation - joining the United States military - put an end to his dream. Or so it seemed. When The Major left the services in early 2011 he was introduced to a local wrestler-turned-trainer. Damage threw himself at the training and made real progress over the coming months.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

In December of 2011 Major Damage felt he was ready to enter the world of the sport he had always loved and applied for the first series of Become A Star. Damage just missed out on the selection of sixteen, but he has enough promise to stick around for at least the next few years.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>Frank's Take: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">I respect the hell out of anyone who's put their lives on the line for our country overseas. That being said, this ain't no charity case company. Damage needs to show me something outside of being a flag-waving jobber. He's 28 years old, but still way, way green. I'm not sure he's got enough good years left to turn it around, but I've been proven wrong before.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">

</span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"><strong>TEW.com Profile: </strong></span></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">Coming to you straight from 'The North Shore' bro, "All Night" Mike Santorelli is everything you hate in a human being. Unless of course, you share in his choice of lifestyle. While many would expect Santorelli to be no more than an opening comedy act, he does have a fair amount of talent between the ropes, and matched with his effervescent charisma, he's a handful for many an opponent.</span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;"> </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><span style="font-size:12px;">
