Tony explained the rules for the audience, saying that three men were in the ring at all times, and the first man to score a fall would win the match for his team. Jesse said that could be interesting, as Scotty could pin Booker T and the titles would change hands. All men played to their strengths here, and there were quite a few odd partnerships formed in the interest of winning the belts. At one point, Scott held Hawk up for Booker T to hit the Big Apple Blast, but neither man could agree on who would take the pin, and Animal ended up recovering and tagging out. Everybody here gave it their all, and this ended up as one of the best, most unique tag team matches seen in years. The end of the match came out of nowhere, as the Heat and Steiners wound up fighting with one another over who would win the match, and rolling out of the ring; when Stevie Ray got back on the apron in order to hit a jumping attack, he was hauled back into the ring by Hawk and Animal, quickly hoisted into the Doomsday Device, and pinned while the others had no idea what was going on. As “Iron Man” began blasting over the speakers, they realized it, leaving Scott with an unrepeatable word as the only thing to say about it.

Winners in 9:43 and still WCW World Tag Team champions: The Road Warriors

Rating: B+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DougWilliams.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Finlay.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LannyPoffo.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JPL.jpg
The Ruthless Roundtable vs. JPL

Referee: Randy Anderson

One of the brightest moments of this match is when Lord Steven Regal joins commentary, and he makes a ring attendant spray down the chair and headset with freshener before he sits down. He also only shakes hands with Tony and Jesse with a white rag covering his hands. Regal allows for some funny commentary, but this match isn’t all that good, as JPL basically just runs through Earl Clayton, putting both he and Finlay down with the Pedigree within minutes. As Tony marvels about the devastation of that move, Regal sends a confused Baron Tomas into the ring as well, saying that he is a member of the Roundtable as well. Lord Regal must have been desperate, as Tomas fares worse than the others had before also falling to the Pedigree. With Motorhead playing over the loudspeakers, JPL points toward Regal as a message for him, before as Regal sneers at him. On his way to the ring, the champion takes a moment to hold a fan’s sign up that says “Impeach Bockwinkel!” Jesse cannot veil his annoyance as WCW Commissioner Nick Bockwinkel comes out and sits in on commentary. These two go at one another with reckless abandon, the lack of rules giving them all kinds of time to fight like two bare-knuckled brawlers both in and out of the ring. Whereas last month, the match was decided via a countout, this time around they were able to even go fighting off through the aisle in the crowd! The Toronto crowd are very loud in their pleasure of having the match going on just a fingertip away, and they eventually fight their way over to where the announcers are sitting. Austin slams Gordy’s head down onto the desk, and takes time out to give Bockwinkel a middle finger before smashing Terry’s face down again! The two make their way back to the ring, but Bockwinkel follows them along, incensed at the champion’s disrespect. Austin gets the advantage and looks to lock in the That’s a Wrap reverse figure four leglock, but Terry is able to push him off and send the champion into Nick Patrick! Patrick goes down, falling clear out of the ring, as Gordy gets back to his feet. Terry tries to take advantage of the situation, looking to hook on the Oriental Spike, but Austin frees his arms and grabs backward, dropping him with the Stunner! Austin goes for a pin, but no ref! Austin goes out to wake Patrick, and he fires the referee back into the ring. But Austin turns right into a vicious lariat! Gordy collapses to the mat right after, and the bell rings? Nick Bockwinkel has called for the bell – and he grabs the title, handing it to the barely stirring Gordy! He tells Gary Cappetta to announce Terry as the winner by a knockout, as Austin is getting back to his feet! Jesse Ventura is beside himself on commentary, but Bockwinkel and Robert Parker are helping Terry Gordy up the aisle with the championship, so nobody can do a thing about it!

Winner and NEW WCW United States Heavyweight champion in 11:35: Terry Gordy

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ScottHall.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RicFlair.jpg
The $10,000 Challenge

“Hired Gun” Scott Hall vs. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair

Referee: Randy Anderson

A WCW-licensed duffel bag is shown at ringside alongside Gary Michael Cappetta as the bell sounds, Jesse saying that must be where the money lies. These two put on a clinic, helped a lot by how the two have a strange chemistry against one another. The brash, cocky, young Hall is on full display here, swaggering around as though nothing bothers him; the brash, cocky, veteran Flair is on just as much display, strutting and “Woooo”-ing his way through the opening minutes of the match. Tony seems disgusted by Hall’s black with green trimmed trunks, saying that it stands for the money that he covets so much, which was how we got to this match to begin with. After the two start to break down their arrogant atmosphere on one another, the match becomes more personal, as fighting happens in and around the ring, chops and punches thrown with wild abandon. The end comes about from great resourcefulness, as Flair trips Hall up instead of being lifted into the move that’s not named in WCW yet but most known as the Razor’s Edge, and tries to hook the leg into the figure four. But Hall is able to reach up and pull Flair into a small package, and holding onto the ropes as he does so, gets a very cheap three count.

Winner in 15:45: Scott Hall

Rating: B+

The match may be over, but the fight isn’t, as Hall slips out of the ring quickly after the three but “The Nature Boy” is hot on his tail! He goes into the ring and holds up his prize to the cheering crowd, strutting and pointing out a sign in the crowd that declares “Flair is still the man!” This one isn’t over!

Rating: C+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/EricBischoff.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/MikeTenay.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/BobbyHeenan2.jpg

We head to the secondary announcer’s location, where Eric Bischoff, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, and “Professor” Mike Tenay are standing by. Heenan says that no matter who wins, they’re going to be number two on Ric Flair’s hit list, right after he finishes with Scott Hall; Tenay seems to back youth in Dustin Rhodes, and Eric says that as much as he would like to see the title back in WCW, he can’t help but think Hollywood Hogan has something up his sleeve. This leads to both men going out of their way to try and outdo one another, whether it be with mat wrestling or cheating at one another. Jimmy Hart at ringside yells over his megaphone at a fan with a sign saying “PUSH MARTEL OR I RIOT!”, while applauding one that says “Rick Martel is going to pay the Piper”. The two seem very well matched, but it’s the outside world that influences the ending, as Jimmy and Roddy Piper keep Randy Anderson’s attention on them while “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers slips into the ring and does the damage, blasting Martel with the Bubba Slam, leaving the ring for Piper to get the extremely cheap pinfall.

Winner in 10:30: Roddy Piper

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/TitoSantana.jpg

As Piper and Rogers look to cripple Martel, a surprise comes in the form of Tito Santana! But “The Stinger” keeps the fans active, which keeps the young masked man alive, and he fights back to get the hot tag, and Sting comes in like a house of fire, dealing out damage to Luger and Roberts. A big dropkick and clothesline from Rey and then Sting sends “The Total Package” out of the ring, and Mysterio leaps over the top rope to splash him on the floor! Steamboat goes on to say, though, that he is a fighting man, and his spirit and good will shall lead him to victory. He says that WCW needs a man of strong morality running the ship, and that’s why Ric Flair couldn’t defeat Hogan, because they’re the same type of morality. He closes saying that the same code of honor he uses outside the ring will lead him to victory in it, and to the WCW World’s Heavyweight championship.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpg

From there, we cut to “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes, who is all wound up, talking excitedly about this being one of the biggest chances in his entire young career. But here he is, and he is going to make the best of this golden opportunity. Hogan says that he hopes daddy’s boy, “The Salamander”, and that big, nasty, stupid piece of crap Vader are all prepared for disappointment, because tonight, Hollywood shows that he is the King of Wrestling, period! As all four men brawl, Tommy Young calls for the bell, and the match is underway! He’s finally able to get Pillman and Animal out of the ring, and Austin and Hawk go at it in the corner. For three guys who wrestled hard matches earlier in the night and one who hasn’t been in the ring for a few months, these guys put on a solid match. The crowd are wild to see “The Loose Cannon” again, especially in his old stomping grounds of Canada, and he takes full advantage by giving them an amazing show anytime he’s in the ring. Austin’s prior match has him exhausted and he gets taken down by the Warriors, but he brawls his way out of the situation and makes a hot tag, and Pillman comes in with a springboard dropkick! Brian sticks and moves with both of the champions while Austin catches a breather, but the numbers finally start to get the best of him. Animal shoves him roughly into the turnbuckles, but he isn’t the legal man; Tommy starts trying to pull him away and get him to leave the ring. Behind everyone’s back, however, Austin sneaks back into the ring and grabs Hawk – kick, Stunner! Hawk is down, and when Animal is sent out of the ring, Young turns around to see Brian on top of Hawk! Animal tries to rush back into the ring, but he’s too late – Austin and Pillman are the new World Tag Team champions!! “The Body” is elated on commentary, screaming with joy that the conspiracy has completely backfired – the Blonds are back!

Winners in 9:41 and NEW WCW World Tag Team champions: Steve Austin & Brian Pillman

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/gmc.jpg

With that excitement over with, Gary Michael Cappetta takes to the ring, and he announces that it is now time for our main event of the evening!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickySteamboat.jpg

“The first man down to the ring at this time. Ricky – “The Dragon” – Steeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaamboooooooooat!”

The crowd come alive for “The Dragon”, as Tony reels out information; how Ricky hasn’t held World championship gold since 1989, and after winning the Battlebowl looks to be in the best position to do so again in his career. He says that Ricky has been an amazing athlete all his life, and even at the age of 42, he’s shown no signs of slowing down yet, and is still one of the best in the wrestling world, “a true legend in our sport”. Steamboat slaps the hands of the fans around ringside as he climbs into the ring, prepared for one of the most unique matches he’s ever been a part of.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpg

“The second challenger tonight comes to us from Austin, Texas. He weighs in tonight at two hundred and thirty two pounds. He is ‘The Natural’; Dustin! He enters the ring and shakes hands with his mentor and friend, Ricky Steamboat, and shares a look with him that says everything it needs to: once the bell rings, all bets and friendships are off.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Vader.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/SonnyOnoo.jpg

“Next, coming down to the ring. He is from the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Weighing in tonight at four hundred and fifty pounds; Sonny Onoo presents: ‘The Monster’……… VAAAAADERRRR!”

The sound of Dio yields “The Monster”, flanked by Onoo. Sonny has smiles on his face, but you can tell he is uncomfortable after what happened on Saturday Night. Vader is his usual, intimidating self, however, as he marches to the ring telling all who can hear that tonight is Vader time!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/HulkHogan2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/Queen.jpg

“And finally, the champion. He is the current and defending World’s Heavyweight champion! The Kings of Wrestling present: Hollywooooooood HOOOOGAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!”

Playing the defaced World title like an air guitar, Hollywood Hogan comes out with his Queen at his side. He takes in the jeers of the crowd without a second thought, doing all he can to anger them further as he strides to the ring and his waiting, hungry opponents. As all four men are in the ring, Gary announces the rules of the match: all four men will be in the ring at the same time, and it is one fall to a finish; the man who scores a pinfall or submission over anyone in the matchup will be crowned the WCW World Heavyweight champion! Gary leaves the ring as all four have entered, and when Tommy Young calls for the bell, the match begins!

Rating: C

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWWorldKoW.jpg
http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/HulkHogan2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickySteamboat.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Vader.jpg

WCW World Heavyweight Championship – Four Corners Match

Hollywood Hogan w/The Queen vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes vs. “The Monster” Vader w/Sonny Onoo

Referee: Tommy Young

This very unique match starts out with the four men involved not really knowing where to begin. Everyone gets a big surprise though when out of the back comes “The American Outlaw” Dusty Rhodes! He joins in on commentary to the shock of everyone. Tony tries to play mediator between Dusty and Jesse, who brags up about Dusty’s Road Warriors losing the World Tag Team titles to Pillman and Austin just moments before, but Rhodes plays it in stride. His arm is still in a sling, but he says that it will be ready to go again by next Saturday Night. The match ends up more resembling a tornado tag team match at times, as Dustin and Hogan battle while Steamboat and Vader duke it out as well. They trade off a few times, but a lot of times Vader is left as the man standing, as he uses his size and strength advantages to occasionally just lay everybody out.

The man who really wows the crowd in this one turns out to be “The Natural” who takes the fight to both Hollywood and Vader with a lot of fire, and he’s the first man to actually put a chink in the armor of “The Monster” by knocking him out of the ring. He and Steamboat then do a number on Hogan, working together to punch and chop the champion to the point of begging off of the duo! Ricky and Dustin don’t let up, hitting the champion with a double team suplex, before sending him to the ropes and hitting a double clothesline on him! They yell to the crowd, who are absolutely molten hot for the two, but a double clothesline takes both of them down as Vader steps back into the ring! He again stands alone, yelling to the crowd “Who’s the man?!” and growling. Hollywood comes up behind him, but Vader turns and catches him in the act, before setting him up for the powerbomb! Vader looks ready to go through with the move, when a flying “Dragon” takes him down with a Dustin-assisted leaping chop to the chest!

Both Hogan and Vader are down on the mat, and Dustin and Steamboat are the only men standing! They nod in agreement at one another, shaking hands, before the two finally lock up with one another around the 12 minute mark of the match! From there, we see a good back-and-forth between the two, much like at the end of the Battlebowl last month. Rhodes keeps trying to rattle off big moves, but Steamboat is always able to wriggle free and answer with either a chop or an armdrag takedown. This continues up until “The Monster” awakens from his slumber, and he sees an opportunity; he rushes Ricky from behind, looking to bash him with a chair while Tommy Young is with Sonny Onoo! Dustin sees it, and he shoves Steamboat out of the way – but takes the full force of the chairshot right to the head! Rhodes crumples to the mat, and Steamboat is incensed! He starts striking Vader with rights and lefts, hitting him with punches, chops, and martial arts kicks that finally culminate in a rushing crossbody that sends both men over the top and out of the ring!

Hollywood Hogan now sees his chance.

He slips back into the fray and covers Dustin, cockily counting along with Tommy’s count… 1!

2!

3-KICKOUT!

Hollywood is stunned that Dustin kicked out after that brutal chair shot from Vader! Hogan tries to lift Dustin up to do more damage, but his legs still aren’t even stable enough to hold him up. The champion finally gets him positioned against the ropes, and he grabs Dustin by the face to taunt him, telling him that he’ll never be the champion, that he will always be in his daddy’s shadow. Over at commentary, Dusty jumps up and throws down his headset, Jesse making a lunge to intercept him but, having not expected it, he’s unable to do so, so he sits back down to finish calling the match. As he’s making his way to the ring, Hogan finally paintbrushes Dustin with an arrogant slap!

THAT DOES IT! Rhodes attacks, coming alive with adrenaline and peppering Hogan with punches and “Nature Boy”-esque chops, sending Hogan into the ropes and coming back off with a series of big clotheslines! The champion is rocked, as Steamboat and Vader brawl on the outside, “The Dragon” chasing “The Monster” around the ring with a steel chair! Dustin boogies around the ring, and as Hollywood starts begging off in the middle of the ring, Rhodes shows no mercy and drops a Bionic Elbow onto his head, before lifting him up and hitting the running bulldog! He goes for the pin! 1!

2!

NEW CHAMPIO---NO!!!!

Hogan didn’t kick out – Tommy Young stopped the count when Dusty Rhodes jumped up on the apron! Dustin staggers to his feet, running on pure adrenaline as he screams at his father to let him have his moment, let him win the title! Dusty tells him to go do it, then; he’s here to watch his son achieve his dream, if he can. Dustin is shaken, and it doesn’t help when he turns around into a big boot! Steamboat and Vader are nowhere to be found and therefore none the wiser, as Hollywood drops the big leg! He covers, hooking the leg this time – 1!

2!!!

Dusty yells from the apron, telling his son to come on and win, then, big man!

3!!!!

The exhaustion of the match was just too much, and Dustin struggled a shoulder up just a split second too late! Outside the ring, Vader and Steamboat are brought back to reality by the bell sounding, Vader cursing loudly as he realizes that the match was now over. Steamboat looks disheartened, but his first instinct is to slide into the ring and check on Dustin. Dusty walks over to the two and looks down on them, but then he grabs the World’s title and hands it to Hogan, raising his arm in victory. Tony and Jesse are both audibly upset with how this match played out, as this was very nearly Dustin’s big night, and thanks to, of all people, his father Dusty, it was taken away from him.

Winner in 20:09 and still WCW World Heavyweight champion: Hollywood Hogan

Rating: B+

Notes: “Mean” Gene was starting to get stale, so I changed his gimmick to a Interviewer (Wholesome) and he nailed it, a 100 rating!
Steve Corino was given an Old School Heel (Weasel) gimmick, which rated 96.

Geza Kalman was given an Extremist (Realistic) gimmick, which rated 89.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWlogo.jpg

TFC barely edged out a win here, and I will have his prize PM'd in the near future! Thanks to everyone for participating! I know, I didn't put up a 24 hour notice, but I kinda just wanted to get this one up and done so we can move on. Thanks for reading, and a big welcome to Lloyd!

Now, for serious matters. I want my readers to give me some insight here. I’m considering cutting out the weekly show predictions and only doing PPVs. I’m starting to get behind a lot, and it’s just becoming a bit of clutter. And also, it’ll save on me having to make sure shows are so dynamic, which really isn’t “of the time”. There will still always be a place for fun fan signs, and I love hearing everyone’s thoughts on the shows, but I just feel that it could be done easier. But I’m a democratic kind of guy, so if everybody thinks I’m out of my mind on this one, then this will stay as just what it is right now: a thought. Anyways, Spring Stampede is now done, and we move on to World War 3!

Hogan starts off by saying that the good thing is, he still retained the World title last week at Spring Stampede, and he says that it’s good to have Dusty back in the fold, brothers. He says that was the only good thing about Spring Stampede, however, as thanks to Hawk and Animal’s grandstanding, they’ve lost the Tag titles, and Kip failed him by underestimating “that punk German kid”. A few people start trying to speak up, but Hogan quiets them all down, saying that the last thing they’re going to do is make excuses. Hollywood says that what happened is in the past, and that’s where it’ll stay. He says that tonight, to make up for last Sunday’s defeats, he expects everybody to be on target for the plan, and tonight, they prove why they are the Kings of Wrestling.

Rating: B-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/TonySchiavone.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/BobbyHeenan2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/JesseVentura.jpg

With that, after the show opening we head to Tony, Bobby, and Jesse in the arena, as Schiavone welcomes everyone to WCW Saturday Night! Tony says that Spring Stampede was a huge achievement for WCW, and they’re going to talk a lot more about it later, but Jesse can’t contain himself by saying that the best part of the pay-per-view had to be seen to be believed, as his favorite tag team ever, Brian Pillman and Steve Austin, reunited and saved one another’s jobs by using the Road Warriors’ open challenge against them and taking the World Tag Team championships! Jesse points to a sign in the crowd that says “The Blondes Ride Again!” with a big smile. Heenan says that he was glad to see the titles being taken away from the KoW, but he hopes that WCW can keep up that momentum, as we head forward. Tony says that heading forward is what they intend to do, straight into World War 3, which we will hear more about at the top of the hour. But right now, he says that it’s time to go to our opening contest, as the Armstrong family feud rages on!

Rating: C

Notes: Jesse Ventura was masterful here with improvising, and Bobby Heenan really enjoyed himself as well.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BradArmstrong.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/RobertFuller.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ScottArmstrong.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/BobArmstrong.jpg
Brad Armstrong w/Colonel Robert Parker vs. Scott Armstrong w/Bob Armstrong

Referee: Nick Patrick

These two put on a pretty solid match, the problem is that not many fans are really into this part of the Armstrongs feud… if any of them really are. However, Brad is still one of the better midcard hands around WCW, and so he puts on a semi-solid matchup here. Commentary use much of this match to talk about how at World War 3, WCW officials have signed a match between Bob’s team of Armstrongs against Parker’s team of Armstrongs. Parker gets in an argument with a fan who’s sign asks “Where’s my Chicken Colonel”. Brad does the majority of this as a very clean cut, mat-based matchup, and his brother holds up on that right along with him. The tipping point of the match comes toward the end, when Brad seems to have twisted his ankle, bringing Nick Patrick, Scott, and “Bullet” Bob to his aid… but from behind, Colonel Parker sneaks in and smashes Scott’s knee with a riding crop! He escapes the ring behind everybody’s back, and Brad doesn’t seem to approve in all entirety, but that doesn’t stop him from applying the figure four leglock to get an almost immediate submission victory.

Winner in 7:02: Brad Armstrong

Rating: D+

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianJames.jpg

The match over, brother BG rushes out and joins in the fray, and he convinces Brad to stomp away at Scott! Colonel Parker relishes in the brothers-on-brother beatdown, but he scampers away as “Bullet” Bob enters the ring! He tries to shove his two estranged sons away, telling them that the match is over; saying especially to Brad that he didn’t raise any of them to be this way! He looks to be getting through to Brad somewhat, as he starts looking conflicted and begins to back off. But BG slaps his father across the face! The Stud Stable leave, as Bob calls for some help to come out for Scott.

Rating: D-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ScottSteiner.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickSteiner.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/StevieRay.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BookerT.jpg

Tony sends us to some exclusive footage from Spring Stampede, which shows Harlem Heat watching the World Tag Team title match – the second one of that night. Into the room flies the Steiner Brothers, Scott asking if they’re watching this crap. He says that now the belts aren’t even on Hawk and Animal anymore, and that it’s the Heat’s fault for dropping the ball in the triangle match! Booker and Stevie get into the Steiners’ faces now, saying that if they’d have stayed out of the way, the Heat would have the titles again by now! The first punch is thrown by Scott, and the brawl that breaks out has to be separated by a host of WCW officials. Back to “live” action, the commentators all agree on one thing, that apparently this battle in the tag team division is not over by a long shot.

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RicFlair.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ScottHall.jpg

Out to the ring comes “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, and he wastes no time in calling out “Hired Hand” Scott Hall. Flair still has the duffel bag of money in his hand, and that brings Hall out to the top of the ramp, who tells the “old man” that he needs to give Hall his money and not be a sore loser – just be the loser that Hall made him last Sunday! Flair says that he has a better idea, and he knows exactly how to get Scott to agree to it. He says that he’s going to make Hall beg him for another match, by putting the ball in his court. Hall laughs it off, saying that there is nothing Hall has to prove by facing off with Flair again. Ric says that Hall is entirely correct, Scott has no reason to have to face Flair. So that’s why he’s going to take this ten thousand dollars, and add ten more, making it double or nothing! And then, Flair says that he wants to take the twenty thousand, and hang it up above the ring, where you can only get to it by climbing a ladder! Hall laughs, saying that “this old man must have old timer’s disease, cause he must not know that Scott Hall is the master of the ladder match, mang!” Hall says that he hopes Flair has no problems with losing more of his money, because at World War 3, it’s coming home with the “Hired Hand”!

Rating: B-

Notes: Flair didn’t improvise very well, coming off as somewhat rambling at times.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Sting2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GordonSolie.jpg

Gordon Solie is backstage, and he brings in his guest at this time “The Stinger”! The crowd aren’t exactly keen to this style of wrestling as of yet, but these two go a pretty good way toward bringing them into it. The match is rather short and sweet though, as Guerrero hits a Gory Bomb out of nowhere, before heading to the top rope and hitting a quick, precise Frog Splash for the win. Ventura says that Eddie must not be getting paid by the hour. The crowd seem to enjoy Eddie though, as signs are in the crowd for him saying “Eddie Guerrero is going to unleash some Latino Heat!”, “Who turned on the Latino Heat”, and one simply shouting “LATINO HEAT!” Odd considering he hasn’t ever thought of that nickname, but maybe in the future he will…

Winner in 6:41: Eddie Guerrero

Rating: C-

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/EddieGuerrero.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ArtBarr.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/gmc.jpg

The match over, Eddie brings Gary Cappetta into the ring and uses him to hold the microphone for him as he calls out former partner Art Barr! Barr comes to the ring, and Guerrero tells him that the attack on him at WCW vs. The World is something that he has definitely not forgotten! Eddie says that he’s been picking his spots, and given this all started in Mexico, he can think of nowhere better to have a match with Art than at World War 3 – which is why he already went to officials and has set his next WCW appearance to be in New York for that show, and he’s going to show Art that he hasn’t turned on Barr – he’s just started doing things for himself, and the view is better from all the way on top compared to hanging out with the bottom scum like Barr! Art is speechless, saying that he’s gonna show Eddie at World War 3 that he’s been carrying him around all this time, and he could’ve picked out any partner and had the more success than he and Eddie!

Rating: E+

Notes: Well Gary improvised well, but Art was awful, looking a little like a spaz.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LexLuger.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/JakeRoberts.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg

“Mean Gene” is backstage, and he brings in his guests Jake Roberts and Lex Luger. He says that Sting will be no hero, not at this juncture; and how one of the cures for Sting’s problems will be a dose of the DDT. Luger, however, yells loudly about Sting’s other cure being the Human Torture Rack, and he says that if Sting wants to know how life changing it can be, then in a few short minutes, he’ll be able to ask Tracy Smothers about his time in the Rack.

Rating: B-

Notes: All three men involved improvised well here.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LexLuger.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/TracySmothers.jpg
“The Total Package” Lex Luger vs. Tracy Smothers

Referee: Mark Curtis

Whereas most people would have probably thought to be just a simple squash match, apparently nobody informed Tracy, who puts up a solid fight in this match. He says that the show will be headlined by the new World War 3 battle royal, which will feature not ten, not twenty, not thirty, but sixty of your favorite WCW athletes in an over-the-top rope battle royal! He says that the winner will be given something even better than just a title match like some other companies give out. He says that WCW are going to offer up a new concept called The Spoils of War. He says that The Spoils of War will give the winner one request from WCW corporate; be it for a match, a friend to join WCW, a clause, even a raise, if that is what they desire! The crowd cheer for this idea, and we zoom in on a sign that says “Get Ready for World War!”

Nick moves on then, saying that he also wants to add that two travesties occurred last Sunday. The minor travesty, California Kip being rolled up for a fluke pin by Alex Wright, will be righted at World War 3, as the two will go head-to-head with the TV title on the line again. He says the major travesty will be righted behind closed doors, as he is officially going to strip those delinquents Austin and Pillman of the World Tag Team titles and hand them right back to the Road Warriors!

“OBJECTION!”

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/StevieRichards.jpg

Out to the ring marches WCW’s resident attorney at law, Richard Stevenson! He says that with all due respect, Nick Bockwinkel has no legal right to strip Mr. Austin and Mr. Pillman of the titles that they won last Sunday! Stevenson says that they broke no laws, broke no rules, didn’t even break any bi-laws, by accepting what was a completely clear open challenge for the belts. Richard says that as much as Commissioner Bockwinkel doesn’t like it, there is nothing he can do about it.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BrianPillman3.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/SteveAustin2.jpg

Speaking of the new champions, Steve Austin and “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman start making their way out to the ring! Cappetta gets out of the way, as Austin and Pillman join Nick in the ring. Pillman takes his microphone, and screams out “I’m baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!” drawing a loud cheer from the St. Louis crowd! Brian says that to win these titles back, after such a long, hard year, especially in his “second home” of Canada, was the best homecoming he could have ever had! Austin takes the microphone and addresses Bockwinkel, saying that “We got’cha, boss” with a smirk. Pillman laughs, as Austin says that as much as he’s a man who does his own thing in this ring, he had a feeling that Nick would have some bullcrap plan up his sleeve to try and screw him out of his US title. Austin says that with that in mind, he reached out to someone, which he doesn’t do often; he called up Brian, and had him come to Toronto on a “just in case” basis. He laughs in Nick’s face, telling him that he fell right into their plan – “you don’t think you’re gonna get rid of me just by taking away one title, do ya?” Pillman says that Nick should have known you can’t keep good Blonds down forever! He says that the two have no allegiance to one another, except for wanting to stick it to Bockwinkel and the KoW any chance they get! Austin agrees, saying that he doesn’t trust Brian as far as he can throw him – and that makes him the best partner he could ever win these titles with again! Nick is now fuming, and he says that the two better not get comfortable with having those belts – because next week, they face off with the Road Warriors, and this time, Dusty Rhodes will be back in their corner! Nick wishes them luck – because Hawk and Animal are even more mad than usual, and they’re ready to tear Austin and Pillman limb from limb to get their titles back! The segment ends with Bockwinkel backing out of the ring, still looking as though he has the upper hand in the grand scheme, but Austin and Pillman looking ready to fight to their last in order to show him up!

Ratings: C-, B-

Notes: Pillman was masterful when on the microphone improvising. He’s icing the back of his neck, when he’s approached by “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Flair tells him that he wouldn’t have minded so much the things that Steamboat had to say about him; but he at least could have won the match after talking about “The Nature Boy” like that! Steamboat isn’t in the mood for this, and he immediately gets to his feet and tells Flair that he isn’t going to make any excuses, for either his performance OR his words, but if Flair doesn’t like it, then maybe he should do something about it! Flair and Steamboat rush one another, the commotion quickly drawing officials into the room to keep them apart! When we come back to this show, a graphic comes up advertising that next week, both Flair and Steamboat will go to The Body Shop, where Jesse Ventura is going to try and ease the tensions between the two.

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/CactusJack.jpg

Cactus Jack comes out to the ring, getting a big cheer from the crowd. Vader replies that the only business the two have is that Vader hasn’t killed Jack yet, but that he will grant him this wish if he so chooses. Cactus says that Vader hasn’t killed him yet, and he’s not going to; but at World War 3, the two will go to war yet again, and Jack promises to slay the monster – in a last man standing match! No count outs! No disqualifications! No stopping the match until one man cannot answer a ten count! He also notes that win, lose, or draw, Roberts is heading back to his Mexican commitments after this match, so he will not be in World Championship Wrestling anymore. Sting takes it right to Roberts here, the two putting on a match that is familiar yet different to their one at WCW vs. The World last month. The shorter amount of time they’re being given here is likely the cause of that, as the two craft the matchup at a faster pace. The ending is not in much doubt however, especially when Tony talked of Jake leaving after the show. Sting escapes the DDT by holding the ropes, making Jake land on his back, and Sting quickly grabs his legs and turns him over into the Scorpion Deathlock, pulling “The Snake” on his belly into the center of the ring before sitting down on him, netting a submission victory.

Winner in 11:55: Sting

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/LexLuger.jpg

“The Total Package” hits the ring almost as soon as the bell rings and clobbers Sting with a steel plated forearm smash! He stomps Sting while Roberts collects himself, going over and forcibly taking the microphone from Gary. Jake says that just because he lost here means nothing, because he was leaving WCW again after this match anyways, to go back to Mexico and dominate AAA again. As Luger hoists Sting into the Torture Rack, he says that Sting is as big a fool as they’ve thought, if he thinks that he and Lex were the only ones who have a beef with him. “The Snake” gets right in Sting’s face and tells him that next week, you’re all going to find out the next man who is going to toughen Sting up. Commentary are abuzz with wondering who that could possibly be, as Luger throws Sting to the ground.

Rating: B-

Notes: Jake’s improvising will be missed around WCW, that’s for sure. Nobody ever really gains much of an advantage for much of the match, until Piper and Savage corner Anderson and work him over in their corner. They target Arn’s neck and back more than anything, Bobby asking if they’re trying to put the man out of wrestling. Just as Arn is about to finally come back and make the tag, however, the match is shown to have been a ruse all along; Dusty Rhodes leads Hollywood Hogan, Bubba Rogers, and the Road Warriors into the ring to assault Flair and Anderson, and even Scott Hall comes down to get a few licks in on Flair as well. With all these people in the ring, Tommy Young calls the match off, awarding it to Flair and Anderson by disqualification. The bell sounds repeatedly, trying to restore order but finding none, as Hawk and Animal drill Arn with the Doomsday Device and Flair gets hit with Savage’s flying elbow!

Winners in 11:48 by disqualification: Ric Flair & Arn Anderson

Rating: B

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpg

Out to the ring sprints “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes! He helps get most of the KoW sent off to the back, along with WCW security. Flair and Arn head backstage after thanking him for the support, but Dustin stays in the ring. He says he wants to see his father and Hollywood Hogan out here right now!

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustyRhodes2.jpghttp://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/HulkHogan2.jpg

Almost seeming amused, Hogan comes out, along with a confused looking “American Outlaw”. Dusty looks to take a microphone, but Hogan does first, and he says that “sonny boy” needs to mind his manners, before his big mouth gets him in trouble. Hogan talks down to Dustin completely, saying that he’s the only one who cost himself at Spring Stampede – he can blame anyone he wants, but the fact is, he couldn’t get the job done, jack! Dustin says that he isn’t out here to make excuses, he’s out here for one reason, and one reason only: he is going to willingly give up his spot in the World War 3 match, to challenge Hogan to a World Heavyweight championship match, one-on-one at World War 3!

Dusty gets a microphone, and he tells his son that he needs to think straight, and go back to learning under his “no-good buddies” Flair, Anderson, and Steamboat, for probably a few more years before trying to go for a man like Hollywood. Dustin says that’s the problem, that his father isn’t even behind him! “The Natural” says that if he listens to everyone else for the rest of his life, he’ll never get his shot – but if he goes out there, and he proves himself one-on-one, man-to-man with the best wrestlers in the industry, then he will have done what he’s set out to do, and that’s get respect as his own man, and not just the son of the Dream!

Dusty tries to talk to his son off the microphone, but Hollywood cockily accepts! He says that Dustin’s quest for respect has nothing to do with him, for sure; but he can’t think of an easier title defense than this! As Dusty’s eyes go wide, Hogan says that he has no time for their family drama, and when he crushes Dustin under his boot in the ring at World War 3, then he and Dusty will be able to move onto bigger fish. Dustin, however, isn’t intimidated, and he gets right in their faces, replying that what Hogan doesn’t see, is that this is a win-win situation for Dustin, and a no-win situation for Hogan. Just by taking on the match, Dustin will not only be headlining a major pay-per-view with the biggest name in wrestling and showing the world the kind of fight he has in his heart. If Hogan wins, he gains nothing by beating Dustin – but, Dustin has a chance to win the World Heavyweight championship! Dustin has everything to gain and nothing to lose, while Hogan could lose everything!

Hollywood thinks on that for a moment, before nodding. Dustin is right, and he will give the kid credit – he’s got as good a mind for this business as his father here. But Hogan says that no amount of fight in Dustin’s heart will lead him to victory over the might of Hollywood and the Kings of Wrestling; so what’s he gonna do, brother?! Hogan looks ready to leave the ring, but Rhodes pulls him back, saying that what he’s gonna do… is fight.

The show goes off the air, with Hollywood Hogan and Dustin Rhodes in an intense staredown – and Dusty Rhodes is right in the middle of it, trying to talk sense into both of them!

Rating: B+

Notes: Dustin did a masterful job of improvising here, and Hogan worked the crowd greatly.

http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWMainEvent-1.jpg
WCW Main Event

Commentary: Gordon Solie, Tony Schiavone, Eric Bischoff

Rating: D+

The commentators open the show to talk about what all has happened in the world of WCW this past week.
