Option 7: “Mean Gene” Okerlund’s rumor corner!

A few guys have been getting talked about a lot as of late after being mentioned by Hollywood Hogan a few weeks ago to the Road Warriors. Dusty Rhodes, Hawk, and Animal may think it’s just idle chatter, but perhaps they don’t know Hogan as well as I do – you can’t trust him, even if you’re on his side. What makes me say this? Well, let’s just say that I’ve heard Jimmy Hart humming a particular old Rick Derringer tune that would get him run down by the Warriors if they would ever find him thinking about!

Tony gives a rundown of the night’s huge matches, as there will be a big six man tag team match with Hollywood Hogan, Terry Gordy, and Lex Luger taking on Sting, Steve Austin, and Arn Anderson; a match pitting the Road Warriors against Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham; and the big one, Scott Hall goes up against Ric Flair! Dusty says that he looks for his Kings of Wrestling brothers to overtake WCW tonight, with that momentum heading into the Great American Bash in two weeks at Baltimore. Tenay’s opinion is that no matter who wins, we’re looking forward to seeing some good action. Tony agrees there, and says that let’s head down to the ring and start the evening!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C+</em></p><p><em> Notes: Dusty improvised well, which made up for how badly Tenay did.</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DougWilliams.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/LannyPoffo.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/Juvi.jpg</span><p> <strong>WCW World Cruiserweight Championship Tournament – First Round</strong></p><p><strong> Earl William Clayton w/Baron Tomas vs. Juventud Guerrera</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:8px;">Time Limit: 15:00</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:8px;"> Referee: Nick Patrick</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> An okay little match that has been made bigger by the goings-on involving the Ruthless Roundtable and Juventud over the past few weeks. Gene says that he supposes they figured the feud going on between Ric Flair and Scott Hall was a bigger matchup, but Hollywood says that there is no bigger deal than Hollywood Hogan, and he’s going to take out his frustrations on Anderson, Stink, and “that redneck” tonight! Gene questions Kip about him wearing around his newly fashioned World Television title, given he isn’t the champion, but Hogan says that while he’s the king of Hollywood, California Kip is the champion of television, and he will be until they decide he isn’t! Hollywood says that if Hawk doesn’t get off his back, then he’ll get two other face painted freaks to do what the Road Warriors do! He adds a dig about someone else beating them for the Tag titles – oh wait, they don’t have them anymore! Hawk gets up in an instant and gets in Hogan’s face, telling him that he doesn’t need to give them motivation like this, because the Road Warriors are the best tag team in the history of the business. Hogan says that it isn’t motivation, it’s a promise! Hawk grabs Hogan by the shirt, and that gets Animal off his seat to try and pull the two apart, saying that we don’t need this, and yelling at both of them to calm down! However, a slew of security come in between the two and get the Steiner Brothers taken backstage. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat joins in on commentary, as Tony tries to goad Dusty into talking about what we saw earlier, the argument between Hawk and Hollywood Hogan, but Rhodes brushes it off. Dustin and Barry show in this match that they work well together after two years apart, as they take it to the possibly distracted Road Warriors for this entire match. Dusty says that his charges certainly won’t be distracted during WarGames in Baltimore, so Dustin and Barry better soak it in now. The Warriors are on the defense for a lot of this one, as it’s a very openly paced match. Everyone gets in their licks, as Steamboat puts over the WarGames match along with Dusty. “The Dragon” suddenly goes silent however, when the broadcast booth is attacked by Meng! After Ricky is down, Meng makes his way down to the ring, and behind Mark Curtis’s back, he hits a vicious headbutt to Dustin! Windham chases Meng in anger, but that leaves Dustin alone to be a victim of the Doomsday Device. This match has a strange flow, but the crowd are exceptionally hot for the whole thing no matter who is in the ring. Hollywood does a lot of damage, taking his potshots on Arn, Austin, and Sting when he’s in the ring, but during the rest of the match it’s very evenly matched. As the bout wears on, the managers get involved as well, as Parker especially takes delight in punching Austin as he is down on the ropes. Austin makes a comeback, hitting a Thesz Press on Terry Gordy out of desperation. Austin and Gordy both go for tags, bringing in Hollywood and Anderson, but into the ring also rush Sting and Luger. The pier-six brawl leaves Tommy Young flabbergasted, and he does what he can to try and get people taken out of the ring. Austin and Gordy tumble out of the ring, as Anderson clotheslines “The Total Package” out, leaving Sting and Hogan in the ring! The two trade punches, and the crowd are on their feet! A finger to the eye puts Hollywood in control though, and he sends Sting to the ropes to hit a big clothesline. He rips Sting off the mat and smashes him with the big boot, and he cups his hand to his ear to loud boos from the crowd. He cockily hits the ropes, looking for the leg drop.</p><p> </p><p> BUT WAIT – SPINEBUSTER!</p><p> </p><p> Arn Anderson snuck into the ring, quick as a flash, and he makes the cover! 1! 2! 3! Dusty is speechless, and all Tony can do is scream oh my god – Arn Anderson just pinned Hollywood Hogan!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winners in 17:05: Arn Anderson, Sting, & Steve Austin</em></p><p><em> Rating: B</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The match may be over, but in the aisle, there’s something else going on. Steve Austin has grabbed a microphone, and he addresses Terry Gordy. Austin says that he’s getting sick of seeing Gordy run around like a big shot, like he actually defeated Austin; he says that at the Great American Bash, since Terry wants to talk so much about Texas, then how about they settle things, in a Texas classic – the Bullrope match! Gordy grabs a microphone as well, and he says that as a legend in Texas, he would be glad to show “blond, Hollywood punk” Austin a whipping in a Bullrope match! Gordy says that his title won’t be on the line, but Austin says that the belt hasn’t meant anything to him ever since he and Bockwinkel stole it from him – so it’s accepted!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C+</em></p><p><em> Notes: Both Austin and Gordy improvised well in this segment.</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/gmc.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Gary Michael Cappetta enters the ring to announce the main event of the evening, a single fall match with television time remaining.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <iframe width="320" height="240" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/RBXGxgreM1k?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ScottHall.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Walking down out of the crowd comes “Hired Hand” Scott Hall, a smile on his face and a toothpick in his mouth. This has been one of the best televised matches in the year so far, as these two have a great back-and-forth all throughout the matchup. Hall takes over by using Flair’s aggression against him, ducking a clothesline and hefting Flair into the “Payout” fall-away slam. Hall works Flair over with various strikes and leg locks, as Dusty says that if Hall can weaken Flair’s back and legs, that makes more of a chance he can’t put on the figure four. Scott goes for the super belly-to-back suplex, but Flair elbows his way out of it, and as he pushes off the top rope he forces Hall to land awkwardly on his knee, and then “The Nature Boy” goes to school, whooo! Flair runs through his leg destroying offense, as this time it’s Tony talking about the psychology – not only does it weaken Hall for the figure four, but it also means he can’t lift Ric up for the Financial Edge as easily! Scott is able to get some distance following a cheap shot, but as he stops to pose, out of the back comes Ron Simmons! Ron doesn’t go near the ring, but his mere presence is enough to distract Hall as we go to a commercial break.</p><p> </p><p> When the show comes back, “The Hired Hand” has Flair on his back, and he tells Ron Simmons to “sit back and watch” as he manhandles Flair, slapping him around. Hall hits a punch combination, finishing with spinning around to hit a discus clothesline, but he can’t put “The Nature Boy” away. Hall tries to go for his Financial Edge, but Flair sandbags, making sure he couldn’t be lifted. Ric shoves Hall away, but Hall comes back with a kick to the face, dropping Flair to the mat. Hall again goes to Ron Simmons again though, and Dusty says that he may be making a big mistake that he shouldn’t be making. He goads Ron until he climbs onto the apron, and Hall looks ready to pull a foreign object out of his kneepad! He swings, but Flair ducks – low blow! He pushes Hall over, and locks on the figure four! Simmons drops from the apron, telling Tommy Young to turn around! The punishment to the knee during this match makes Scott scream in pain… and he submits! “The Nature Boy” wins it! Hall rolls out of the ring, and as Tony says that Flair just won this match “in true Horsemen style!” Dusty says that Flair outright cheated, and Tony and all these people are sticking up for it! The match is over though, and Flair celebrates in the ring as WCW Saturday Night comes to a close!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 16:02: Ric Flair</em></p><p><em> Rating: A</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWMainEvent-1.jpg</span><p> <strong>WCW Main Event </strong></p><p> Announcers: Tony Schiavone, Eric Bischoff, Mike Tenay</p><p> Rating: C</p><p> </p><p> Hakushi d. WarGames: Team Horsemen w/Magnum TA vs. Team KoW Outlaws

THE LOD SCREWS UP AND WE WILL HAVE DEMOLITION! OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Sting vs. Lex Luger w/Rick Rude

Have to give him a point on this feud.

Vader w/Sonny Onoo vs. Cactus Jack

Cactus won at WW3, so Vader wins here...right?

Steve Austin vs. Terry Gordy w/Col. Rob Parker

This is Austin's time.

Brian Pillman vs. Randy Savage

Because Savage won their last [?] clash at Uncensored, and so, to even up the series, my man wins here.

JPL vs. Lord Steven Regal w/Baron Tomas

By DQ or Count Out though. This is not ending here.

Juventud Guerrera vs. Ultimo Dragon w/Sonny Onoo

I've been choosing too many babyfaces, and i think that Rey Jr.'s next feud will be with Ultimo, so for the belt it should be even better.

Bob Armstrong vs. BG Armstrong w/Col. Rob Parker

If Bob wins, i will personally give you a e-slap back. :p

Team WCW vs. Team KoW w/Jimmy Hart & Dusty Rhodes

If the KoW above is losing, there isn't nothing better than the KoW here winning [?]

Fun Fan Signs: The Kings are Outlaws!

I CAME HERE FOR DEMOLITION!

DEMOLITION OR REFUNDS!

DEMOLITION OR RIOT!

Tiebreaker Questions:

1. There will be returns/debuts. How many? 2! DEMOLITION! DEMOLITION! DEMOLITION!

2. How many ex-WWF stars will debut? (Only those who haven’t been in WCW recently count) AX AND SMASH, BABY!

3. Who will take the fall in WarGames? Road Warrior Hawk. Hogan will be fed up with his failure and HERE COMES DEMOLITION!

4. Who will start the WarGames match? Arn Anderson and Dusty Rhodes.

5. Name two of the three songs Ozzy Osbourne be playing for the show? (“Crazy Train” is the third one) Hellraiser and No More Tears.

Possible bonus point: Guess something shocking that will happen on this show. Demolition debuting counts...right?

After reading what LordJaguar said about the fifth question, I changed it a little. But nobody needs to change anything, because your answers for #4 work.

Don't know why that question slipped my mind before, maybe I was just too pumped up to have the Ozzman :o

If Sting loses we riot!

We can't get our safety deposit back from the Baltimore Stadium in the event of a riot, so if you feel the need to riot because of anything that happens on this show, please don't :p

Terry was never the same after his coma/blackout...

Yeah, but I've been happy to give him a very nice singles push here. Mick Foley talked in his Have a Nice Day book about how occasionally the old Terry would come out, and I'd like to think that in this case, where he's being given something great to do, that old Gordy would surface.

Cactus won at WW3, so Vader wins here...right?

This is the rubber match, as Vader won back at SuperBrawl.

Thanks to those who've predicted so far! Hoping that until I get the final Saturday Night and the Bash finished being written, there'll be plenty more! Tell all your friends to order the Great American Bash!! :D

Kip ridicules both men on commentary along with Dusty – though Kip says that Johnny’s new manager can come be his Princess of Wrestling – but Tony sticks up for Alex by calling him a hot young star on the rise, and also the real TV champion. Anderson talks first, and he says that Ric is busy getting ready for his big match tonight, but to make no mistake – one less leader still leaves another strong leader in his place. “The Enforcer” talks about WarGames, saying that nobody knows WarGames like Arn Anderson and the Horsemen, not even Dusty Rhodes and not even the Road Warriors. Anderson says that last week, history was made: he became one of the few, perhaps even the only man, to pin both Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan in the ring. Dustin steps in then, saying that this has been a long time coming, and he wants to thank his friend and mentor Arn Anderson for giving them the chance to compete in the WarGames against the Kings of Wrestling, because he knows that if left to their own devices, they never would have done it. Windham takes point next, saying that he’s been out of WCW for a little while, but when Dustin called him up and asked him to come back, he jumped at the chance. Windham talks about how he and Rhodes have almost grown up together in this sport, and how close they’ve always been. Windham puts his hand out, and he shakes Dustin’s hand, saying that if he ever needs the help, he can look to “The Blackjack” Barry Windham for help. “The Dragon” chimes in briefly, saying that the KoW may be able to stand in the kitchen, but once the fire flies, they’ll go up in smoke! Anderson steps in again quickly to add that as much as Dusty has been talking about Dustin backing out of WarGames, the offer is there for his side to back out as well – the life they save just may be their own! Sting pulls Luger’s arms down to his sides, saying that the same is true the other way around – because once you’re in the Scorpion Deathlock, the only way out is to break or submit! Hollywood tells Rhodes that his boys better start picking up the slack, before they get replaced! Roddy Piper is almost in the corner talking to himself, and he finally chimes in to tell Hogan that he doesn’t make decisions like that on his own, it has to pass through ALL of the Trinity to replace people. Bockwinkel doesn’t seem worried about it, saying that he knows Hawk and Animal well enough to know that they are just having an off period. Hogan says that he knows them too, but he knows them more recently than what Nick does – and they aren’t the team they used to be. He also talks about this being the last time JPL and Regal will be getting their hands on one another before their big match at the Great American Bash, and how he won’t be surprised to see his Lordship try and hurt JPL in order to gain an unfair advantage tomorrow night. Tony is wrong, however, as Regal seems pleased to keep his distance from his rival; letting the Earl do most of the heavy lifting of the match, coming in to inflict punishment when they are in control. Steamboat arm drags Paul into a state of complete dizziness, and then hits the top rope to come off with a big chop to the top of Orndorff’s head, getting the pinfall after that.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 12:44: Ricky Steamboat</em></p><p><em> Rating: B-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RoddyPiper.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> As Steamboat is heading up the aisle, out of the back comes “Hot Rod” Roddy Piper! This is the two’s first singles meeting in WCW, and that’s all that matters! The two put on their standard match, but their standard match is incredible. This is the second week in a row that Flair puts forth a classic on Saturday Night, as he and Randy put themselves through an amazing matchup full of psychology, mat wrestling, and huge strikes. There are two major turning points of the match, one being when Flair goes to the top rope. Savage catches him and hurls him off the top, before sprinting to the top himself and hitting a big double axe handle that gets a very close two count! The second one is just as important, as Flair dodges a running knee in the corner, and from there he goes to school… but he’s unable to lock in the figure four, as Savage goes for a small package – again getting a two.</p><p> </p><p> Outside the ring is where the tide turns the most, as a fan holding a sign that reads “King…Ichii?!” turns out to not be a fan at all, as he throws the sign at Savage to distract him before throwing powder into his eyes! A camera just barely catches the blond hair as he runs from security – it was Brian Pillman! Ric Flair takes advantage, sending Savage into the ring and, after ducking a few wild, blind punches, “The Nature Boy” hits a kneebreaker and locks on the figure four leglock in the center of the ring, getting a rare submission victory from Savage in one of the most pure wrestling matches you’ll ever see!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 18:52: Ric Flair</em></p><p><em> Rating: A</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Gimmick and Turn Notes:<p> Cousins Marky and Denny have changed to Hillbilly (Gimmicky) gimmicks, which rated 89 and 96, respectively.</p><p> Theodore R. </strong><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">World Championship Wrestling expansion!</span></strong></p><p>

<em>The rumors of expansion were true, and the fruits of their labor have been sown – WCW are officially considered to be an International entity in professional wrestling! This is what WCW’s corporate offices have been looking forward to ever since last May when Hulk Hogan joined the company, and now on the eve of the Great American Bash, it has become a reality. Now it will be up to them, with all of the talent at their disposal (quite a few of which are both big and also small names who have yet to debut for the new juggernaut of pro wrestling) to keep it up and move forward in this war with the WWF.</em></p><p> </p><p>

It's true, it's true - the last Saturday Night officially pushed us to International size! There are a few quick times when “Bullet Bob” looks ready to unload on his youngest, but this one has never been in doubt – BG lifts his father with a pump handle slam and covers to get what is likely, up to this point, one of the highest profile victories of his career.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 7:01: BG Armstrong</em></p><p><em> Rating: C-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/kow.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> We head backstage, where Hollywood Hogan, Roddy Piper, and Nick Bockwinkel are watching the show on a live monitor. Bockwinkel says that if it breaks them, then we’ll see what’s left standing afterward. Hollywood says that if anyone is going to drop the ball, it’ll be in the main event. Nick says that he has Hall paid well for tonight, so he should do what he does best. Nick also says that what Hollywood asked him for is still a go for Saturday Night. But that quickly turns to a feral brawl, as the ferocity of their punches and kicks are only intensified by the intense cold war that these two men have been a part of over the past few months. The weapons come into play very quickly, as Savage spills out of the ring and Pillman follows him out with a great dive over the top rope. From there it’s all about the weapons around the ring, as Brian drops Savage with a steel chair shot, before choking him with a camera cord! Savage fights back by actually getting under the ring and finding a wrench, and he smacks it against Pillman’s face! Savage comes back into this match with a vengeance, and the two men fight up into the crowd, as security try to hold fans back from becoming victims of a wild punch from either of these men. Pillman starts punching Savage, before backing off and charging, but Savage ducks a leaping clothesline attempt to get this under his control. He punishes Brian, sending him back down toward the ring. Savage slams Brian’s face into the ringpost, before getting on the apron. “Macho Man” drives a double axe handle down onto Pillman’s back, and he fires him into the ring, bringing along a steel chair. He actually wraps it around Pillman’s ankle, and looks like he’s going to stomp on it! But Brian kicks the chair off, hitting Savage with it when he comes off the turnbuckle! Brian jumps up to hit Randy with his Loaded Gun DDT, but Savage counters, bringing Pillman down crotch-first on the ropes! He brings Pillman back off with a belly-to-back suplex, and he quickly heads up to the top rope – and he hits the big elbow drop! He goes for the cover! 1! 2! 3-NO! Pillman’s instinct causes him to be able to kick out! Savage goes out of the ring for a weapon, but Brian is able to hit a baseball slide that sends “Macho Man” into the guardrail. Pillman then takes a leap of faith, as he springboards off the top rope – but Savage moves! Pillman comes down chest-first onto the steel guardrail! Savage isn’t even able to lift Brian to throw him back into the ring, so he just pins him there – and after that, he gets the three count to win the Danger Zone match!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 21:04: Randy Savage</em></p><p><em> Rating: B</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The match might be over, but it’s pretty obvious that something is not good here. JPL gets rolling when he ducks a clothesline and comes back with a running high knee, and with Regal’s brains scrambled, he falls victim to the Pedigree to put the end to this feud once and for all. These two have had matches in the past, and this one is just as good as they typically have been – but the crowd are rather calm, perhaps by now saving themselves for the two upcoming cage matches later tonight. Contrary to Rick Rude’s pushing from the outside of the ring, Luger never does anything but play this match straight; even on times when he could humiliate his former friend, he doesn’t cheat him. Rude throws his hands up then whenever Sting fights back, and rallies his way into a very good position. Lex fires back with a big powerslam when Sting flies off the turnbuckles at him though, and from there Lex holds the advantage for quite some part of the match. Sting gets held down by Lex’s stomps and rear chinlock, as “The Total Package” uses his massive arms to drain the life out of his opponent. Luger starts to go for an ending sequence after a big running clothesline, but Sting fights back from the Torture Rack! Luger cannot get Sting lifted into the move, and Sting gets back to his feet, hitting kicks and chops to Luger’s big upper body! Sting gets Luger backed into the turnbuckle, and he heads up, howling to his Little Stingers before punching Lex, the crowd counting along! He lifts Luger up and hits a big reverse atomic drop, that sends him sprawling into the turnbuckle – Stinger Splash! Sting fires his former friend into the opposite corner – but no! As Nick Patrick turned to watch Luger, Rick Rude smacks Sting in the back of the head with a black baseball bat! That must have been lying around since back during the Danger Zone match! Sting doesn’t go down, he just staggers forward, shakily. Luger rushes forward and blasts Sting with a running forearm, and he falls on top for the cover – and gets a very unpopular three count! The crowd are very upset, but as Luger looks confused, Rude soaks in the jeers, all the way to the locker room.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winner in 11:34: Lex Luger</em></p><p><em> Rating: B-</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RonSimmons.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/BobbyEaton2.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/AlexWright.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RickMartel.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/vs.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/kow.jpg</span><p> <strong>Team WCW vs. Team KoW</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:8px;">Time Limit: 30:00</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:8px;"> Referee: Charles Robinson</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> This is just thrown into here in order to cool people down in between the previous match and the cage matches, and it does its job well. In The Jeep’s place turns out to be “Hot Rod” Roddy Piper! Piper’s presence throws off the WCW team completely, though they all do well at holding their own – especially Martel, who has fought Piper enough times as of late to be used to his antics. He talks about how he made sure to turn off the phone line at his home so his wife couldn’t order the show and see what he’s about to go through, because it would mentally scar his family forever. Funk tells him that he doesn’t have to worry about some big son of a bitch like Vader, because he doesn’t have the heart to do this! It spills between the two rings, as Sonny Onoo watches, worried, from the outside. If you’re looking for top wristlocks and headlocks, this is not the match for you. There may be no weapons on hand for either of them to grab, which comes to the detriment of Jack a few times when Vader slams him with some hard right hands, but each man gives as well as he gets. Referee Mark Curtis just tries to stay out of harm’s way as best as he can, but he has a few close calls when Vader whips Cactus back and forth across the ring and into the cage. Cactus is bleeding profusely, the hard steel mesh digging into his forehead. Vader spends much of this match punishing the neck and left shoulder of Cactus. The worst comes when Jack is in between the rings, and Vader grabs the arm and kicks Jack’s legs out from under him, making the arm roughly rip against the strand of ropes! Afterwards his arm hangs limply, as Vader punishes it further by slamming it into the cage! The cage comes in handy as Vader tries to lift Jack for a powerbomb, as he is able to grab onto the mesh and block the move – before kicking Vader away, then slamming him into the steel! Vader’s mask gets caught on the cage, ripping off of his face, and one more smash into it rips a part of his forehead off as well! Tony worries about this becoming graphic, but Jesse says that when the cage starts lowering, the kids better be in bed. Vader regains the advantage when he blocks the cage slam, and he shoves Jack off like a bug. He comes in for a vicious bodycheck, but Jack turns it into a drop toehold into the turnbuckle pad! Vader goes down holding his face, as Jack gets an idea. He goes into the other ring and climbs the turnbuckle, and he uses the roof of the cage to balance himself as he walks across the top ropes between the rings, yelling out “Bang bang!” before dropping a big elbow! He stays on top with his still good right arm, and Mark Curtis counts – 1! 2! 3! Cactus Jack wins the match! Hollywood and Hart are just in general obnoxious about the fact that they skated by without having to defend the World title tonight, because he’s such a big star that he’s above WCW and their petty games. He says that he may as well just go to his big house on the Hollywood Hill right now, and leave Baltimore behind him, because WCW has never and will never give him anyone who can be a challenge! Jimmy Hart makes the mistake of coming back for the belt, as Luger catches him before he can hit him with the megaphone. He lifts Hart into the Torture Rack! The first man eager to climb into the ring is “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes, who gets into the cage while his partners are still debating strategy. He’s joined in the ring by “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, though Dustin seems upset that it wasn’t his father. Jesse says that is a strategic move, making Dustin wait for what he wants. The first five minutes of the match begin with the two locking up, Dustin applying a side headlock off of that. Orndorff hits a few elbows to the ribs, shoving Rhodes off almost into the cage, but he stops short. Paul follows him up however, and a knee to the back puts the veteran in control. The fans begin chanting “Paula” to irritate Orndorff, but he isn’t as bothered by it as usual, keeping on task by dropping a knee onto Dustin’s midsection. Orndorff moves to the neck, putting on a neck vice that starts twisting Dustin’s head off. The Horsemen team are shown looking worried, as a sign is seen behind them saying “Horsemen Ride Together”. Orndorff sets Dustin up for his jumping piledriver, but Rhodes backdrops out of it, Orndorff’s feet skimming the top of the cage! Dustin hits a run of clotheslines, before sending Paul into the corner. He goes up and starts punching as the crowd chants along to ten, as now it’s the Outlaw’s side who are looking worried. The clock ticks away as Dusty and Ric meet at the middle for the coin flip – and to everyone’s surprise, Flair’s team wins the flip! Dustin hits a bulldog, as Barry Windham enters the ring. Windham and Dustin work over Orndorff as the first two minute period begins. Tony reminds fans that there is no way for Paul to give up at this point, as there are no pinfalls or submissions in WarGames, there is only fighting until everyone is in the ring.</p><p> </p><p> Orndorff’s strategy devolves into cheat-and-run tactics, as he pokes Dustin in the eye and fires Windham off into the second ring. Rhodes is the first to taste the steel cage in this match, as Orndorff sends him into it before turning and putting Windham back down with some powder to the eyes which Orndorff pulled from his boot. Ventura says that this is a do or die moment for “Mr. Wonderful” and he’s doing well with it. But Windham gets the powder out of his eyes as Dustin makes his comeback, and together the two throw Paul into the cage! Two minutes have passed though, and into the match storms the big “Guardian Angel” Bubba Rogers! As he enters the ring, a sign in the crowd can be seen saying “The Kings are Outlaws!” Rogers targets Windham, as Dustin and Orndorff battle off into the other ring. The big man battle is one of hard hitting fists, as the two throw bombs at one another. Dustin and Orndorff tie up again, but it ends as Orndorff rakes the bleeding face of Rhodes and hits a drop toehold before cinching in a camel clutch. Dustin fights his way to his feet though, and he lifts Paul up on his back, before slamming him into the cage back-first! Windham tastes the cage due to Rogers, who then sends Barry into the ropes. Windham ducks a clothesline though, and he fires back with his own lariat!</p><p> </p><p> “The Enforcer” enters the ring next, and he goes over to help Barry keep Bubba down on the mat. The two former Horsemen teammates work well together at this, as they slam Rogers with a double team suplex. As they rejoin Dustin in the first ring, Rhodes sends Orndorff into the ropes. When he rebounds, Anderson picks him up and spins around, and Barry helps drive him down with an assisted spinebuster! Paul is down on the mat, writhing in pain, as Barry turns and locks a cross-ring Clawhold on Rogers! Ventura says that the Iron Claw is the Blackjack coming out in Windham, as he squeezes the temples of “The Guardian Angel” with no remorse to be shown! The hold is broken by an attack from behind when Hawk enters the ring. The Road Warrior – who earlier in the match was seen furiously ripping up a fan’s three signs that mentioned Demolition – takes his anger out on Windham, hurling the Texan into the cage with brute force. Hawk enters the other ring and lays out both Arn and Dustin with a vicious double clothesline, before sticking his tongue out and screaming, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd. Rogers comes back into the thick of things, avalanching Anderson in the turnbuckle! Rhodes starts fighting back against Hawk, but it’s a futile attempt, as the fresh man simply shoves him away, and slams him into the turnbuckles before slamming him into the cage! The Kings of Wrestling have an advantage as the next two minute period begins.</p><p> </p><p> “The Dragon” enters the ring, and he staggers Hawk back against the cage with a dropkick. Steamboat sticks and moves on his larger foe, until he can get some backup, which comes in the form of Windham. Barry and Ricky go after Hawk with their speed and strength combination, as Orndorff tries to take advantage on the tired Dustin. Paul hits the Boogie Woogie Elbow Drop, but stands back up to a big left fist from Anderson! Rogers grabs Arn from behind then and throws him to the ropes, and he hits him with the sidewalk slam! Animal enters the ring next, and he immediately helps Hawk. With both Road Warriors in the ring, this match becomes a massacre, as they bulldoze everyone on the opposing team together, as Dusty cheers on from the outside. “The Nature Boy” looks worried now, as the Kings of Wrestling start maiming each and every one of his partners in the ring. Dustin takes a majority of punishment, but they make sure to save some for Steamboat, Anderson, and Windham as well, especially when Rogers lifts Steamboat and hits him with a Steve Austin-esque Stungun that rakes his face into the steel cage! Animal heaves Dustin up in a gorilla press, and he hurls him like a javelin from one ring to the other!</p><p> </p><p> As Orndorff plants Windham with the jumping piledriver, the cage door opens for the final time on the Horsemen side, and Ric Flair rushes into the ring! But he quickly becomes hesitant, as it’s four-on-one odds! The Road Warriors seem to be licking their lips, as Flair keeps his back to the cage. He kicks at Rogers when he gets too close, and even throws a few chops to keep everyone at bay for a few moments, but the numbers catch up to him, and this two minute period stays just how the previous one ended: the KoW putting the pain on their opponents. Tony says that the Road Warriors have made all the difference here, as their teamwork and WarGames experience is what has led us to this place in the match. The crowd boo loudly as the KoW members all taunt and stomp at their foes. However, slowly, something is happening; while the KoW are all smiles at their handiwork, all five of their rivals have slowly crawled and clawed their way to the center ropes in their respective rings. And this means, when they all rise to their feet, there is nobody who can get them from behind – and with a loud swell from the crowd, the tide turns in a hurry! Ric and Arn take it to the Road Warriors, as Dustin peppers Rogers with elbows to the head, staggering the big man, and Windham shoves the tired Orndorff into the corner and blasts him with rights and lefts! Dusty starts to lose his confidence on the outside of the ring, as the clock ticks down until he has to enter the ring! We have made a complete turnaround from when Ric Flair had to enter the ring at a complete disadvantage, as now Dusty is facing the same thing! Flair and Anderson lock Animal and Hawk, respectively, into simultaneous figure four leglocks in the second ring, as Dustin, Steamboat, and Windham keep Orndorff and Rogers rocking with hard punches and slams into the cage! Bubba is bleeding profusely now as well, and after a bulldog from Dustin, “The Guardian Angel” is down! Flair and Arn release the Road Warriors and are joined by all three of their teammates, as the clock strikes time, and they all wait in front of the door for “The American Outlaw” to climb into the ring – it’s time for the match beyond to begin!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Match Beyond</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> The crowd are pumped, and a quick look around the crowd shows a sign saying “The Match Beyond!” The numbers may add up to five against five, but it isn’t looking that way as Dusty Rhodes throws a fit on the outside of the ring, looking up at all five of his opponents and no backup whatsoever! Tony and Jesse are almost ecstatic, Schiavone in particular saying that this is what Dusty has had coming ever since last October at Halloween Havoc! The referees force Dusty into the ring, but not before his welcoming party gets split in half, as Rogers and Animal split away Anderson and Windham. Dusty enters the ring and goes face to face with Steamboat, who rushes him. Dusty dodges though, and he claps “The Dragon” on the forehead with an elbow. The fans boo this, though, unlike all the other times this has ever happened in Dusty’s career! Flair follows suit, and Dusty throws punches with his old rival! Ric turns around and chops Hawk in the other ring, though, as Dusty gets turned around and comes man to man with his own son! Dustin is bleeding, but he has a look of intense focus in his eyes, as he stares down the man who has made his life such a living hell for months, his own father! Dusty tries to run to the other ring, but Anderson kicks him away, keeping he and Dustin alone in the first ring! His whole world seeming to come down around him, Dusty does what he can – and he offers his son a hug. Dustin is completely baffled, looking as though he has lost all of his motivation. He looks out to the crowd, who are telling him to hit him! Jesse begins to wonder, now that Dustin has what he wanted, his father in the ring, can he do anything about it? Dusty urges him to “come on, son” and to “do the right thing!” A battle is going on inside Dustin’s mind and heart – what does he do? He reaches out and hugs his father back! Dusty and Dustin hug it out in the ring, as the crowd are stunned – has Dustin turned on his friends to join with his father?! The answer comes just a moment later when Dustin turns to his now year-long mentor, Arn Anderson…</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> …… Wait for it ……</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> … <em>and then flips his father with a belly-to-belly suplex!</em> It was all a ruse from the beginning, as Dustin pounds his hands on the mat, screaming at his father to come on, old man! Dusty’s shock doesn’t last long, before he charges at his son, tackling him to the ground, and he starts punching him! The Rhodes family saga has erupted into a flurry of punches, as Dustin rolls his father over and hits punches of his own! Dusty is down on the mat, as Dustin gets up and looks poised – he bounces off the ropes to hit his father with his own Bionic Elbow – but a ring-shaking clothesline from Hawk stops that! Hawk gets pulled aside and thrown face-first into the cage by Barry, but now Animal has grabbed Dustin from behind – his father gets up and paintbrushes him with a hard slap! Dusty yells at his son that he would be <em>nothing</em> if not for him! He grabs Dustin by his face and tells him that he is the fruit of his loins, and he needs taught to respect that!</p><p> </p><p> But speaking of those loins, Dusty’s tangent suddenly gets cut off by a low blow, as Ric Flair came up from behind and nailed Dusty right in the tree of his loins! Dustin fights out of Animal’s grasp, and he shoves him into the cage! Flair and the elder Rhodes resume their long-standing battle, as Dusty puts Ric’s face into the cage, and by now the only person not busted wide open is Dusty himself. Anderson comes back and helps his best friend, but double elbows to the forehead put them both down – some things never change, apparently. Steamboat jumps off the second turnbuckle and puts Orndorff on the mat with a tomahawk chop, as this match is beginning to just resemble chaos. Windham and Anderson work together to keep the Road Warriors busy, and at long last, Dusty tastes the steel, courtesy of Dustin! The young Rhodes then hits a bulldog, and he stands up to cheer in excitement as the crowd cheer along with him!</p><p> </p><p> Neither side look poised to make the other submit, however. With all that’s going on, they’re all fighting and fighting; though the crowd gasp when Windham gets hit with a belly-to-back version of the Doomsday Device, Tony crying that was how the Road Warriors broke JJ Dillon’s arm to won the very first WarGames match! Windham doesn’t give up though, and his partners all join in to keep the Warriors from inflicting more damage on him. Barry and Ricky team up to take on Hawk and Animal now, as Anderson keeps Orndorff out of the major battle in the first ring. Dustin looks like he’s ready to lock in the figure four on his own father! But Rogers breaks away to come over and put a stop to that. Dusty gets back to his feet, as the crowd cheer – Jesse notices it first, and Tony asks just what HE is doing out here?!?</p><p> </p><p> Bobby “The Brain” Heenan comes out of the back and he walks right down to the side of the cage! He shoves Tommy Young aside, and with assistance from the inside, the door is pulled open just far enough for him to slip Ric Flair the old Horsemen standby, a tire iron! Flair turns and he smacks it against the knee of Dusty Rhodes, who drops in a heap! Flair throws it to Anderson, who bashes Orndorff with it, as Flair drops a knee on Dusty’s leg. He then quickly locks on the Figure Four! Arn shoves the weapon under the ring skirting between the rings, and it’s no time at all before “The American Outlaw” cannot take the punishment and surrenders the match!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Winners in 27:06: Team Horsemen</em></p><p><em> Rating: B+</em></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/RicFlair.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/ArnAnderson.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/DustinRhodes.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/BobbyHeenan3.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWs/GeneOkerlund.jpg</span> </div><p></p><p></p><p> The celebration in the ring goes on as the cage is lifted back into the rafters, and out of the back comes “Mean” Gene Okerlund. He says that there’s only one thing left, and that is to first congratulate these men on their huge victory tonight, but also, as he turns to Ric Flair, to announce the official fourth Horseman! “The Nature Boy” is all smiles, and he says first a big thank you to Ricky and Barry for being there for them during WarGames, but if they don’t mind, the stage is set for the Horsemen. While they would make fine additions to the group, there is just too much bad blood for either of them to be a part of this. A sign in the crowd can be seen as the two of them shake hands with Dustin and walk to the back which says “Enforcer? I barely know her!” which I’m sure draws a laugh from some people around that part of the crowd. Dustin briefly takes the microphone, again thanking Ricky and Barry, but then saying that he feels so very honored to be a part of this huge occasion. He says that winning the match over his father’s team means so much to him, and especially that he was able to do it along with his friends, his partners, and his mentors, Ric and Arn. A sign in the crowd says that “The Four Horsemen ride again”.</p><p> </p><p> Anderson takes the stage next, and he says that he and Flair went through quite the screening process to find the new lineup of the Horsemen. He says that they have shown the Kings of Wrestling up in the ring, and now they’re going to do what the KoW aren’t willing to do: pave the way for the next generation. He says that Ric and himself aren’t spring chickens anymore, and they will be taking on two young protégés who will carry on in their name far into the new millennium. He adds that this lineup of the Four Horsemen are all about tradition and family, just as the original was. He says that his cousin, Ric, and himself, are already family. But their time of wrestling families are gone, and now it’s about the next generation. And with that, there are two huge wrestling families who are becoming a part of something greater than anyone, the elite, the Horsemen! First, he wants to officially introduce and induct one of the greatest Canadian athletes ever, and someone who’s family are one of the greatest in this sport – ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Four Horsemen: <strong>Owen Hart!!!</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/OwenHart.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Gene is shocked, and both Tony and Jesse say that this is huge! Bobby Heenan steps in, and after Gene asks him what he’s doing here, Bobby says that he is here as a manager – if Nick Bockwinkel thought he knew it all, it was only because he learned it from “The Brain”! Bobby says that he is managing the Four Horsemen from here on, and his gift to the group was someone from “one of his former contacts” this soon to be legendary member of the Hart clan! Owen makes his way into the ring, and he says that he has shown in the past to be one of the best; but elsewhere, he can only be “just another Hart” whereas here, he is his own man, he is an elite man, he is one of the legendary Four Horsemen!</p><p> </p><p> Arn Anderson takes the microphone then, and he says that he is now going to introduce, officially, the fourth Horseman. He says that this man impressed him since the first day he saw him come into WCW, and that has only been made more in the days that followed. Another man from one of the greatest wrestling families in history, and a great native of the state of Texas. A natural talent from his first days. Here he is!</p><p> </p><p> Dustin Rhodes steps forward, feeling like this is the greatest night in his life, as he raises the four fingers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Until another man attacks him from behind with the earlier discarded tire iron! </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/EddieGuerrero2.jpg</span> </div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> OH MY GOD!! Bobby shoves Gene aside, and hands the mic to Flair, and he makes the order – attack! All four of them put the boots to Dustin, Flair finally looking him in the eyes to say that he never was a Horseman! He never will be a Horseman! He’s a Rhodes, and that means he and his family name are TRASH! He says that Dustin was the only one stupid enough to think he was one of them, because he and Arn never told him he would ever be one of them – so introducing the fourth Horseman – EDDY! GUERRERO! The five men in the ring raise their arms, all showing the Symbol of Excellence, the four fingers lifted high into the air! Music plays for them over the loudspeakers, and the pay-per-view ends with exactly what Arn Anderson warned: the Four Horsemen have come, and people wouldn’t like what that means.</p><p> </p><p> Especially “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/4h.jpg</span><p> <iframe width="460" height="259" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/PZ7Y_4zcnWE?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> </p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><em>Rating: C+ (Owen introduction), B- (attack)</em></p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Gimmick and Turn Notes:<p> A lot of things going on here this time.</p><p> The 1-2-3- Kid, now Syxx, has debuted with a Cocky (Weasel) gimmick, rating 82.</p><p> Devon King is debuted with an Obsessive Fan gimmick, rating 92!</p><p> Vader’s new gimmick is a Man Beast (Brute), which rated an amazing 95!</p><p> Lex Luger has turned face, which was a complete success.</p><p> Bobby Heenan’s new gimmick is Old School Heel (Weasel), which scored 100!</p><p> Owen Hart has debuted with a Show Stealer (Cocky) gimmick, rating 95.</p><p> Eddy Guerrero has debuted with Latino Heat gimmick, rating 88.</p><p> Ric Flair and Arn Anderson both turned heel, to complete success all around.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/WCW-94/WCWlogo.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p>

<p>I have no shame in admitting that I didn't think any of that was going to happen, that was a very good PPV and an effective way of using swerves. I'm surprised Juvi vs Ultimo Dragon didn't get a better match rating, but then again I'm sure neither are that over and your product probably rates more on popularity than performance.</p><p> </p><p>

Considering you toy with gimmicks a lot, I'm thinking Dustin will become a lone wolf, go round the bend and start painting himself gold. He could even form a stable of weirdos and outcasts, just make sure it's better than the Dungeon Of Doom. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>...I was right about the Flair/Arn swerve, if nothing else (though it didn't happen during the match like I expected.) The way you've been playing it, I could smell that Dustin was being set up; some of Arn's comments when Dustin was trying to convince him to "get the band back together" were definite foreshadowing in my eyes. Plus, he's a <em>Rhodes</em>. </p><p> </p><p> Love the additions of Owen, Eddie and Heenan. That's one badass lineup, and it should hopefully help Owen and Eddie get over huge.</p><p> </p><p> Also:</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>As Nick Patrick turned to watch Luger, Rick Rude smacks Sting in the back of the head <strong>with a black baseball bat</strong>! </div></blockquote><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p>
