Larry does what he can to draw them out of the match, but they are relentlessly behind Brian. With Elizabeth cheering and clapping on at ringside, Zbyszko puts up a good fight but in the end he's no match for the high flying offense of Pillman. This one ends with the Loaded Gun DDT followed by a springboard legdrop.</p><p> </p><p> “Mean” Gene comes out to meet the victorious duo at the top of the aisle, and he wastes no time in talking about how gorgeous Elizabeth has been looking as of late, almost radiant in the presence of Brian and his Pillmaniacs. She smiles, saying that it's just great to be around a guy who will let her talk and be herself rather than try to hold down her light. Brian steps in and says that it's men like Randy Savage who use women to get ahead in life and wrestling. He says that Savage used Liz to get noticed, he used her to further his career back when he was irrelevant, and when he had no more use for her, he threw her to the side. Brian says that is why he brought her back to wrestling – to give her the chance for revenge, not just for herself but also for Terri Rhodes, who Savage used just to get under Dustin's skin. Pillman says that he and the Pillmaniacs have respect for their women unlike men who act like spoiled little boys, and they will teach Randy that respect at the Great American Bash in six days. Ekmo and Kimo use their significant size to their advantage, and the brothers' only answer to that is their experience in teaming and wrestling in general to use that same size against them. However, just as they are starting to get rolling, <strong>Bubba Rogers</strong> emerges from the back and hits Brad with a Bubba Slam to draw a disqualification!</p><p> </p><p> The attack is on, and it appears that Colonel Parker only signed this match in order to trap Brad and BG! However, (puns intended) the Heat are on fire right now, and Sexton and Scott just have nothing to answer the flames. Rick trips up Stevie as he ran the ropes and that leads to a point where Impact is able to take over, but he misses a middle rope splash. Booker makes the tag, and a missile dropkick ends up wrapping Steele up for the loss.</p><p> </p><p> Rick takes atttention at ringside as he berates his pupils, but the brothers are also stopped in the aisle by <strong>Woman</strong>. She seems to be attempting to seduce them, and nearby cameras pick up her saying that the two can “Have anything in the world that they want” if they call off the title match on Sunday. When Booker and Stevie shove her away and refuse, that's when <strong>Vader</strong> and <strong>The Giant</strong> appear out of the darkness of the arena to assault the duo! Woman even adds a high heeled kick to Stevie's ribs, as Booker is thrown into the guardrail! WCW security rush onto the scene to break this attack up, and trainers tend to Harlem Heat as Tony says that we have to take a commercial break. This match goes all over the ring, with first the WCW team getting the advantage on Jarrett by pinballing him around their corner. But Woman and Syxx outwit Mysterio as she pulls him out of the way from a leaping dive to the outside, and the KoW team decimate Rey's left knee. Jeff locks him in a figure four leglock, but Mysterio refuses to submit. He finally escapes it by reaching the ropes, and fights back with a series of roll-ups before hitting a headscissor takedown! Scott Steiner gets tagged in along with Kip, but it quickly becomes an eight man brawl. Referee Tommy Young – who is questioned earlier in the match as to why he is officiating here, as he's usually only the official in second hour main event matches and World title matches – gets bumped into by Jarrett, but doesn't go down. He does, however, end up missing the moment when Syxx blasts Mysterio with the Cruiserweight title belt, and he wraps up Rey in a disgusting looking roll-up where he hooks the legs while straddling Rey's face, and Tommy counts the pin as Syxx holds his tongue out. The bell is sounded, but Tony notes that not only was there the attack with the title belt, but also neither of those two were the legal men in the ring! The question is finally asked out loud; is Tommy Young handing matches to the Kings of Wrestling?</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 17:28</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Woman and Kip are a good pairing.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: C</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/pyro.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">A Point to Prove in Black and White</span></strong></span></p><p> <strong>“President Piper”</strong> is out in the ring after the fireworks go off around the stage, and Tony barely has time to welcome everyone to hour two as Roddy is talking about how dominant the Kings of Wrestling are looking after that huge win they just picked up. Piper says that he has something more to talk about tonight though, and that's the WarGames coming up next month at Bash at the Beach. He says that he saw the WCW sign-up sheet back there, and he laughed at it – because Lex Luger is the only name on it so far. Piper admires Lex's combination of courage and stupidity, and says that some would claim that's because we have the Great American Bash to get through before then, but he personally thinks that WCW's stars are simply…. afraid! They are afraid to be the men who lose World Championship Wrestling to the Kings of Wrestling, and afraid because they know the KoW is the greatest force in all of professional wrestling! “Hot Rod” then changes gears, and he says that he wants to prove a point to everyone out there, regarding the man in the rafters, Sting. Piper waits for the cheers to die down before breaking some bad news: that there is only one real Sting, and he's the man walking around with the World title! Piper says that people have speculated a lot about who the Sting Army are, but says that it doesn't matter, because anyone could be the Sting Army! Piper then calls for some others to come to the ring, and out walk four men, all wearing the Sting mask and trenchcoat, carrying black baseball bats. Piper says that as far as the crowd knows, any one of these men are Sting. He then asks them to take off their masks one at a time, and the crowd gets more and more impatient with each reveal. As Larry Zbyszko, <strong>Paul Orndorff</strong>, and <strong>Barry Darsow</strong> remove masks, the crowd get more excited for the final man, hoping to see who the man is who holds the World title…. but the mask comes off to see <strong>Randy Savage</strong>. Piper says that it doesn't matter what mask or facepaint you look under, it's obvious that the power will always lie in the Kings of Wrestling, “And that's the facts, jack!”</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Rating: B+</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Search Continues</span></strong></span></p><p> Meanwhile, Scott Hall appears to have gone back into the rafters, and he is walking around yelling “Hey yo, Stinger! Rogers drills Malenko on the cold, hard floor with a slam, and chokes him out. Tony and Jesse wonder what this was all about, but Parker is met in the aisle by <strong>Clay Douglas</strong>, who shakes his hand and delivers a stack of bills to Parker and Rogers! Douglas stomps on the down Malenko and a nearby camera hears him telling Dean that “[Clay is] the new 'Ice Man'! You're old news, Dean! It's my time for it now!” Another hard stomp, as Douglas is urged away by security. He has a big smile on his face as Malenko gets checked out on the floor by trainers.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: Clay was very underwhelming as the mastermind behind this attack.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: D</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Hot Tips</span></strong></span></p><p> Speaking of people who were attacked in aisles, Mike Tenay is backstage with Harlem Heat. They are all bandaged up, but they're also very fired up, and highly upset at the Monsters. “Fe, fi, fo, fum, I smell some suckas who wanna come git' 'sum!” says Booker T. Stevie echoes this idea, saying that Vader and Giant have been “white collarin' theyselves” all this time, that they've been getting by on intimidation and power. “We ain't scared'a nuthin'!” Booker says, and he says that if they were gonnna let Woman off with a warning, but after tonight, they're gonna have a surprise “that's gon' neuter her like the lil' bitch she is!” Tenay is shocked, saying that this could change everything. He tries to get more information, but the Heat shoo him out of the room, saying that he'll have to find out along with everybody else on Sunday!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Rating: B-</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Ron Simmons vs. “Latino Heat” Eddy Guerrero w/Bobby Heenan </span></strong></span></p><p> Eddy runs rings around Simmons in this one, flying like a bird to keep the muscular Ron looking like a block of ice. However, once Ron catches him, the offense turns into high impact, hard-hitting slams and tackles. Simmons seems to be sweating profusely during this match, and Guerrero slips down his back, and runs afoul of Mark Curtis. But Ron's attention is taken by Paul Orndorff, who nails Ron in the stomach with a baseball bat! “Mr. Wonderful” hides under the ring as Eddy catches a small package pin, and with the pain going on in the ribs, Simmons is just unable to kick out before the three. Commentary wonder if Guerrero even saw what happened, given that the Horsemen also have no love lost for the Kings of Wrestling.</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Match Time: 7:58</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: Ron is just beginning to hit time decline.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: B</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Finding Prey</span></strong></span></p><p> We rejoin Scott Hall in the rafters, and it appears that he has found something. But when he turns this one around, he has a Sting mask on… and he pulls it off to find <strong>The Great Muta</strong>! As soon as the mask was off, before Scott could even process what was going on, Muta sprays Hall in the eyes with green mist!</p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Rating: C-</em></span></p></div><p></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Giant w/Woman vs. “The Total Package” Lex Luger</span></strong></span></p><p> It's main event time, and the crowd are all about this one. Tony relays the history: The Giant debuted at the 1995 Bash at the Beach by helping Hollywood Hogan retain the World title when he was about to lose to Lex Luger. Since then, the two haven't had any chances to get in the ring, but it appears Luger hasn't forgotten that. And then, when “The Total Package” became the first man in WCW to knock Giant off his feet at World War 3, that set The Giant over the edge. Jesse says that nobody has slammed The Giant yet, he's only been knocked down, but if anyone can do it, it may be Luger. </p><p> However, this is a slow, plodding match. Giant's power moves and heavy, impactful slams go into effect as soon as he is done weathering the storm of Luger's clotheslines, punches, and kicks. Lex attempts a slam way too early, which put him in quite the predicament. Giant walks over Luger's chiseled ribs and locks in a rear chinlock, but when Luger starts coming back, that's when some extra bodies come flooding toward the ring. Roddy Piper leads the Sting Army down to ringside, and as Tommy Young admonishes the World champion for appearing, the others slip into the ring and begin stomping on Luger. This continues until the lights go out… </p><p> </p><p> And when they come back on…. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/sting3.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Sting! Despite Tommy's objections, Mark calls for the bell, throwing this whole match out. </p><p> </p><p> The crowd may not have liked that call, preferring to have seen a winner between Luger and Giant, but the buzz is strong for Sting being in the ring. Curtis and Young argue out of the arena, as the tension could be cut with a knife in the ring. Luger finally comes into the staredown, as Piper steps out of the ring. Sting turns his attention to the other Stings in the ring, and he finally nails one with a baseball bat! Sting grabs the man by the back of the jacket, as the other Stings scurry away, along with Piper! They watch from the top of the aisle as Sting unmasks the man, revealing… </p><p> </p><p><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/stevecorino.jpg</span></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Jesse doesn't even know who he is, but Tony says that he thinks he saw this kid about a year ago appearing in WCW; apparently the Kings of Wrestling took him under their wing to be one of the Sting Army! The man is thrown aside, and The Giant grabs Sting from behind. Luger attacks Giant! He and Sting start working together, just like the old days, kicking and punching the big man into the ropes! More punches! More kicks! And between the two of them, they grab onto the woozy Giant… </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <em>…. Cage Match

Steve Austin vs. Ric Flair

Comments: Naitch is already riding high after winning WW3. This would be a career defining win for Austin, similar to Dustin's win over Ric at Starrcade (maybe my favorite match in not just this diary, but any diary ever.)

World Heavyweight Championship match

“Sting” vs. The Great Muta

Comments: Still not sure who's playing the world champion version of "Sting", but he'll still be the champ heading into BATB and the War Games match.

Texas Bullrope Match

Barry Windham vs. Dustin Rhodes

Comments: I'm undecided on this one, but I kind of feel like Barry needs the win more.

Last Man Standing Match

Randy Savage vs. Brian Pillman

Comments: I could see Liz turning on Pillman and it all being a ruse, but I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Papers on a Pole Match

Scott Hall vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Comments: At least it's not Judy Bagwell on a pole, amirite?

World Tag Team Championship match

The Kings' Monsters vs. Harlem Heat

Comments: Sorry, suckas.

World Cruiserweight Championship match

Syxx vs. Rey Mysterio Jr.

Comments: Go Rey!

Paul Orndorff vs. Ron Simmons

Comments:...DAMN!

The Steiner Brothers vs. Jeff Jarrett and California Kip

Comments: Unless one of the Steiners winds up turning heel after all, I think they need to win here. JJ and Kip are the KOW B-team (or C-team) anyway.

WCW Worldwide pre-show:

Ultimo Dragon & Coach Irvin Alexander vs. The Annihilator & Psychosis

Comments: It took me far longer than it should have to pick up on your little IRS/CIA gag. :o

WCW Worldwide pre-show:

The Stud Stable vs. Bobby Eaton & The Armstrong Brothers

Comments:

WCW Worldwide pre-show:

WCW World Television Championship

Chris Jericho vs. 2 Cold Scorpio

Comments: Jericho shall claim Dawn Marie!

Tiebreaker Question: How long will the cage match last? Uh...35:03.

Highest to the correct answer without going over will win in the event of a tie.

It's taken me damn near a month to get through this entire diary. I've gone from wanting to do my own diary in this time frame to not even wanting to attempt to touch what you've done here. Masterful booking and writing. That being said I can't wait to see what comes next. Kinda bummed I've got to wait now for th next show. I've enjoyed binge reading this when I've had the time.

Tony wishes everyone a happy Father's Day from WCW, and hopes that “dear old dads everywhere” enjoy the action that only WCW can bring you! Mike talks about how he will be backstage shortly on WCW Live on compuserve for those online to hear some extra thoughts from some of the competitors tonight, as well as Gene getting words from a few individuals this evening as well. Jesse says that he's just here for the action, not the words; he wants to get right down to business. They talk about some of the matches coming up tonight, as well as Lex Luger, WCW Championship Committee Representative Magnum TA, and WCW's Executive Vice President in charge Roddy Piper all being in the building tonight as well. Mike and Gene mention that we have already had some great action on Worldwide, filling in those who may have missed the show while setting up the pay-per-view that <strong>the Stud Stable and team of Ultimo Dragon and Coach Alexander were victorious</strong> in their matches, while <strong>Chris Jericho and 2 Cold Scorpio suffered another heart-breaking time limit draw</strong>. Back to the topic of this show, Jesse ponders the question of what tonight could hold for next month's Bash at the Beach, when everything is on the line in WarGames. Mike talks about this being Rey's second chance to win the Cruiserweight title, as his first chance went to a draw with then-champion Ultimo Dragon last October. Syxx is game though, and he grounds Mysterio right out of the bell with his mat wrestling and cheating style. Rey continues to keep trying to up the speed of the bout to his level, but Syxx brings it back down each time. Mike talks about how the Great American Bash is the first anniversary of the WCW Cruiserweight championship, and what an honor it will be for the title and for Mysterio to bring it back out of the Kings of Wrestling tonight. Syxx starts feeling pretty good about himself when he powerbombs Mysterio off an attempted hurricanrana, but when he goes for his insulting crotch smash in the corner, Rey slips out of the way! Mysterio gets into the ring with a springboard dropkick, and the bout looks like it could go on for a long while. But Woman gets up on the apron, and she tries to hit Mysterio with her high heeled shoe, but Rey ducks and it catches Syxx right in the eye! Giant says that the anger he feels over what closed last Monday's Nitro will become the Monsters snuffing out the Harlem Heat! Jarrett and Kip go to work all over “The Dog-Faced Gremlin” with some very slick double team work, as even Schiavone has to admit that he is impressed by the tandem. They work an abdominal stretch with Jeff holding Rick in the move while Kip provides the assist from the outside of the ring, until Nick Patrick catches them and breaks it up – leading to Rick hip tossing Jeff and making the hot tag to Scott! Scott Steiner is going crazy on both men, hitting slams, clotheslines, and even pulling the flipping bodyslam out of the mothballs of his repertoire on Jeff! From then on, Woman stays in her corner, with Jacqueline occasionally being seen looking in her direction! Inside the ring, however, the match tells a different story, as four big men brawl repeatedly. A lot of punching and kicking happens in this match, but the crowd are rabid for all of it. Giant decimates Booker T with a vicious clothesline, but Stevie helps break up the pin. As the match goes on, Jesse wonders if all this brawling may actually favor the Heat, as they grew up street fighting like this, while Giant and Vader just hit hard while doing it. This one goes crazy more often than not, with Randy Anderson getting swallowed in the middle of a big Vader splash at one point. Woman looks like she wants to interfere, but Jackie keeps her at bay. It doesn't seem to have been needed either way, as Giant drills big Stevie with a chokeslam. But he sees Booker making a move, and takes a running start – and throws a dropkick?!? But Booker moves, and Vader gets hit by the Giant's dropkick! Booker and Stevie work together to send an angry Giant out of the ring, and as Booker holds Giant off by hitting him with a chair, Randy Anderson comes to, and does the only thing he sees: count the three for Stevie pinning Vader! It's over, we have new champions! Woman screams! This is the third match her KoW guys have lost already tonight, and the second set of championships! Despite how good both men are in the ring, they just never find a way to work together, especially not with the pole stipulation involved. Hall walks through this one, and it really helps that Kim is out there doing all she can to screw with her husband from the outside. Just to close off the agony for you all reading this, let's just skip to the ending. Hall sets up the Outsider's Edge, but Page is able to backdrop him out of the ring. As Dallas goes toward the pole, Scott starts to get up, but he and Kimberly end up tripping over one another from where she had been trying to help him back up! Dallas is able to mount the turnbuckles, and after holding up the sign of the Diamond, he pulls the papers down from the pole!</p><p> </p><p> Hall shakes his head, muttering a few words that our cameras don't catch. Kimberly slides into the ring and starts celebrating with Dallas? He looks at her like she's crazy, as he gets a microphone. Ric says that Luger and Piper and WarGames is on the docket for the Horsemen, but tonight, we have pride on the line. He says that he and Steve Austin have been going around and around for years, and tonight is the night that the two see who the better man is! Gene asks Flair what if he and Austin end up injuring one another tonight, what about WarGames? Ric tells him that he's the sixty minute man, he doesn't get injured! The women on the outside end up as a major focus, as Woman keeps interfering – with Tony saying that she could face some serious repercussions from the bosses of the Kings of Wrestling if each and every one of her clients within the group were to lose their matches tonight – and Savage gets in the face of Elizabeth quite often. “Macho Man” hits the double axe handle to the ring barricade to begin working over Pillman's throat, and he even hits the elbow, but the Pillmaniacs in the arena will him back to his feet before the ten count is registered. Brian comes back by hitting a Loaded Gun DDT on the floor, but Randy uses the ring steps to climb to his feet. “The Loose Cannon” hits Air Pillman back in the ring, but Savage is again able to get to his feet. A big top rope superplex from Brian to Savage into the center of the ring leaves both men on the mat, and Tommy begins the ten count. As the count keeps going, Brian seems like he's trying to get to the ropes to get up, but Young is in his path. As Savage crawls to his feet, the count reaches ten, with Brian just getting off his knees a split second too late! The KoW's Sting continues to be a mystery, though Jesse still could swear that his wrestling style seems familiar, as Sting comes off the top rope with a single arm axe handle. Muta is no slouch though, and he takes over for a few minutes with a series of palm strikes, thrust kicks, and gets a close near fall with his power elbow drop. The two remaining members of the Sting Army emerge from under the ring and distract Muta from performing his moonsault, which leads to the Sting in the ring hitting a sharp hangman's neckbreaker that Muta only escapes by getting his foot on the ropes. Muta comes the closest of any man has to revealing who this masked Sting is, taking him to the limit by locking in a Mutalock to cause some growls of pain. Muta begins tearing apart the mask, and manages to reveal some of his jet black hair, and that's when one of the Army gets on the apron, causing a full distraction on Tommy. Young turns slightly and seems to see the other Sting hit Muta with a baseball bat – but no disqualification is called. Instead, the champion shoots a half-nelson pin and manages to hold the semi-conscious Muta's shoulders down for a three count to retain the championship in a match that this short description did no justice for. One of the Army members covers the champion's ripped mask as they head to the backstage area quickly.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Winner in 10:57: “Sting”</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Note: The match had a huge bonus thanks to the title being involved.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: A (91)</em></span></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/magnumta.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/tommyyoung.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/roddypiper3.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Magnum TA comes out very shortly after the bell has sounded, and he stops Tommy Young in his tracks. Magnum tells him to get back in the ring, and he takes a microphone. He says that over the years, he's always known Tommy as a straight shooting official, which is why he's always been given the position of main event's official. But lately, he says, there's been a lot of calls for Tommy to not get those positions. Young, to his credit, looks shocked, as Magnum says that it's time for Tommy to tell everyone just what's happening – if he's gone to the KoW! Roddy Piper interrupts, saying that Magnum is paranoid! Piper tells Tommy that he doesn't have to answer any questions, just head back to his limo, because apparently WCW aren't letting him officiate the cage match for some reason. TA asks why Tommy has a limo! Piper tells him that it's obvious that Magnum and WCW haven't been paying Young enough to really live up his life! Tommy looks down at the floor, as Piper says that he, Harley, and Tommy go way back, and when they finally realized how little WCW appreciated Tommy, they took him in! Young finally screams that's enough! He says that for the past few months, he's taken money from Roddy, and let it compromise his pride, but no more! He digs in his pocket and throws bills at Piper, saying this was his payment for screwing over Brian and Muta tonight, and says that he has been the best official in the business for a long time, and he's done doing the dirty work! Tommy then turns to Magnum, and says that as his apology, he will personally officiate at WarGames, and call it right down the middle! Piper leaves in a huff, saying that all of them will regret this, as Tommy and Magnum shake hands. It then shows Windham attacking Ricky Steamboat and Terri Rhodes, as well as choking Dustin with a bullrope. Dustin made the challenge for this match, and here we go!</p><p> </p><p> Dustin Rhodes charges the ring to attack his former friend, not even waiting for being tied together. Tony talks about the emotion involved in this bout, as Mark Curtis finally gets them separated and laced together with the rope. Barry quickly gains an edge using his weight advantage, leaning over Dustin to put him on the mat with power slams. Barry tries to quickly touch all four corners, but Rhodes cuts him off by whipping him with the rope! This match becomes bloody later on when Windham uses the cowbell to bash Dustin in the forehead, and then uses the edge of the bell to dig into his face, and then Barry gets bloodied when Dustin pulls him into the ringpost on the outside! With the match becoming a mess, each man gets more and more worn down and the turnbuckle spots get more and more desperate. Windham hits the superplex, but while dragging Rhodes, both men touch three of the corners. As Barry heads toward the fourth, “The Natural” gets to his feet and they begin a tug-of-war with the rope. With a loud scream, Dustin uses all the strength in his body to pull Windham off-balance before hitting the running bulldog! Barry is out on the mat, and Dustin is able to touch the fourth one! He picks up a big win over his former partner, and he says into the camera that next he's coming for the Kings and his title at WarGames!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Winner in 21:35: Dustin Rhodes</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: The crowd went cold during the segment involving Tommy Young and then the few minutes involved for this match's hype video.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Ratings: B / B</em></span></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/banner.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/roddypiper3.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/scotthall2.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We are backstage in the KoW's locker room, as Roddy Piper meets up with Scott Hall. Kimberly is pounding on the door, asking to be let in, as Piper calls for security to throw her out. Piper says that he has something to throw past Hall – telling him that he wants Scott to be in WarGames for the Kings of Wrestling. To Roddy's surprise, Scott passes on the opportunity; and reminding Piper that his last check didn't clear yet. Piper says that this is about more than money, it's about life! It's personal! But Hall scoffs, angering Roddy by saying “Nothing is personal mang, it's all about business and getting the green.” Piper is furious, telling Hall to get out, and says that maybe some time on the outside, the “real outside” instead of faking being an outsider, will remind Scott of who brought him to the dance! Scott leaves the locker room, saying that Roddy and the Kings will regret messing with “Da Bad Guy” and his money!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Notes: This segment was fairly short, though they got all necessary points across.</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Rating: B</em></span></p></div><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/banner.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="35691" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/ricflair.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/bobbyheenan.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/vs.jpg</span><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/steveaustin3.jpg</span><p> <strong>“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair w/Bobby Heenan vs. Steve Austin</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:8px;">Time Limit: TV Time Remaining</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:8px;"> Referee: Mark Curtis</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> We start with a hype video that shows the course of this feud; from Austin defeating Owen Hart a few months ago, to him going through each one of the Horsemen en route to being decimated by them at Uncensored. With the new wrinkle added of the two of them potentially being in WarGames next month, do they go all out to destroy one another tonight, or do they put WCW ahead of their own egos and just see who the better man is? At the Great American Bash, they get an appetizer of the steel cage, making certain that this bout is one-on-one!</p><p> </p><p> We then join Gary Cappetta in the ring, as he goes over the rules of this match: there are none. The only way to win this bout is by pinfall or submission. He notes that the referee in charge of this bout is Mark Curtis, which sparks discussion between Tony and Jesse regarding Tommy Young earlier this evening.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="220" height="165" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0q-NpcYtQAc?rel=0&controls=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/0q-NpcYtQAc?rel=0&controls=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> Steve Austin powerwalks out to the ring and poses on the four turnbuckles to the cheering crowd. Tony and Jesse comment on how big the cheers are for Austin, and wonder what happens if he does not win this bout. Tony points out that Magnum TA has said that Austin is roughly the #5 ranked challenger for the World title, while Flair is #2 after his World War 3 victory, so as Jesse claims, there is a much bigger gain for Austin to win than there is for Flair to lose in the grand scheme of the championship hierarchy.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="220" height="165" src="</p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZHQTLLgBF78?rel=0&controls=0" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZHQTLLgBF78?rel=0&controls=0"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div><p></p><p></p><p> With “Also Sprach Zarathrusta” blaring over the PA system, the hanging cage is bathed in spotlights – as is the entrance way, as the camera zooms up the aisle to see “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair make his entrance into the arena! With Bobby “The Brain” at his back and a sparkly shine on his blue robe, Ric makes his way down to the ring and locks eyes with Austin. Heenan makes Mark Curtis hold the ropes open for Flair as he struts into the ring, and as the music fades, the cage begins to lower around the two men. Crew members help guide it around the ropes and turnbuckles, and the bell sounds. This match has begun!</p><p> </p><p> The staredown is just as intense as the initial lockup, which Austin would have won had Flair not immediately broken the match's rules to hit him low. He takes over right away, locking in a side headlock to try showing dominance in this match. But just because Flair is the “Dirtiest Player in the Game” doesn't mean Austin doesn't know how to bend the rules as well, as he reaches up and rakes Flair's eyes to escape, before casually tossing Ric face first into the steel mesh of the cage! Austin runs all over Flair, doing all he can to try to bust him open – as if it takes a lot given all the scar tissue that resides on Ric's forehead. Heenan screams at ringside, pleading with Austin to release Flair, but there is no give in Austin's relentless assault. </p><p> </p><p> Flair finds himself back in control as he falls over when Steve charged, and Austin slams into the turnbuckle. Ric delivers a very delayed vertical suplex that puts him in charge of the match, and from there it's all the classic Flair offense. Pointed knee drops, knee breakers, a belly to back suplex, and a sharp elbow drop all net Flair a two count, but not quite good enough to put Austin away. A knee drop that is a low blow gives him a lot closer two count, but Steve's resilience shines through all over again as he keeps kicking out, and the crowd will him on as much as they can. </p><p> </p><p> “The Nature Boy” finally locks in the figure four leglock, and you can just hear Bobby Heenan outside the ring cheering and yelling for Flair to finish this match off. Flair strains to put as much pressure on the hold as he can, lifting his hips up and down on the mat. He reaches back to grab the ropes, but he's just a little too far from them, and Austin doesn't allow him to move any further toward them. But if Flair is unable to reach the ropes, so is Austin, so the only way he can escape this is to turn the pressure back on Ric by rolling the hold over. Flair keeps it his way as long as he possibly can, but eventually Austin manages to flip it, forcing Flair to relinquish the hold! </p><p> </p><p> Steve begins rallying back, fighting out of a side headlock with a belly to back suplex before dropping an elbow to the forehead for a two count. Austin whips Flair into the turnbuckle and stomps him down to the mat, before flipping him off. The crowd are eating all of this up, as Tony talks about how big a star Austin will be in the future of WCW. Austin goes for the Stunner, but Flair shoves him off into the ropes. Ric ducks a clothesline, but Austin just picks up steam before jumping up into a Lou Thesz Press, punching Flair in the face after the takedown! A knee drop off the ropes scores Austin another two count, as Steve goes for another Stunner – this time getting it!</p><p> </p><p> However, Austin is unable to go for a cover, as the cage is slowly raising around them. Confused, Tony and Jesse start asking for people to find out what is happening, but no answers arrive. Until Austin finally gets himself back on track, Flair trips him up, putting his feet up on the ropes – and he scores a three count! What just happened?!</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:right;"><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em>Winner in 37:15: Ric Flair</em></span></p><p><span style="font-size:8px;"><em> Notes: The crowd were somehow both cold and burned out. The World champion has replaced his ripped mask from earlier. The five men do a big beatdown on both Austin and Flair, with both Woman and Harley Race forcing Bobby to backpedal out of the arena. Orndorff and Windham drill Flair with a spike piledriver as Savage comes crashing down on Austin with a flying elbow drop. Piper laughs as he stomps on Flair. But the laughing ends quickly when Lex Luger arrives! He races down to the ring, and starts throwing punches at everything that moves! He starts making headway against the KoW, even shoving Harley down off the ring apron. </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/sting3.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> And look, there's Sting! He's up in the rafters! Tony says it has to be the real one, because the other one is down in the ring, trading punches with Luger! “Sting” is finally sent to the mat, and he rolls out of the ring as “The Total Package” finally notices Sting watching on from the rafters. He starts calling for Sting to come down and help.</p><p> </p><p> But there is no look in Sting's eyes that says he plans on doing anything, and Luger is eventually hammered in the back by “Sting” and his baseball bat. When the camera shifts back up to the rafters, Sting has disappeared back into the shadows. Luger, Flair, and Austin are left lying face-down in the middle of the ring, and Piper spraypaints each of their backs with the “KoW” letters. </p><p> </p><p> “Hot Rod”, “President Piper”, Roddy Piper takes a microphone as the crowd sends boos to the Kings of Wrestling from all over the arena. Roddy says that it looks like WCW just can't get themselves together enough to fend off the KoW, as per usual! He says that this is the same type of result you will all witness at Bash at the Beach. Piper says that while Magnum and WCW are going out of their way to make it seem competitive to get onto their WarGames team, he plans on changing his own trend. Roddy tells everyone that instead of his usual manipulating ways to keep his participants hidden, he is just so excited to get it over with that he's going to announce his five men right now! Each man steps forward as his name is called.</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/stingmask.jpg</span><p> “Our World Heavyweight champion, Sting!”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/paulorndorff.jpg</span></p><p> “My good, best, longest time friend, 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff!”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/randysavage.jpg</span></p><p> “None other than 'The Macho Man' himself, Randy Savage!”</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i1325.photobucket.com/albums/u628/beejus1/wcw-95/roddypiper3.jpg</span></p><p> “The greatest promoter in the history of wrestling, and the man who will still be your WCW Vice President after Bash at the Beach, myself!”</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Roddy takes a moment to soak in the moment, before making one of the biggest announcements in WCW's long, storied history… </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>“And Hollywood Hulk Hogan!”</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> What?!?</p><p> </p><p> The Kings of Wrestling's music begins to play, as Tony and Jesse are both speechless, Tony just barely able to wish people a good night and to join them for Nitro, as the KoW raise their arms in the ring. <p>Another great PPV, Beej. I can really see a lot of story arcs entering their final stages as this great work nears completion, and while I'll be very sad to see it go, I'm also looking forward to the grand finale that will be Bash at the Beach. (I don't think you've come out and said that this is the case, but at this point I would be beyond surprised if it went any other way.)</p><p> </p><p>

Hogan being on Team KOW is interesting. Obviously Hulk was going to have some part to play in the end of this storyline, but I'm still trying to work out where he fits in. I highly doubt everything is square with he and his former stablemates, but no one in WCW has any reason to trust him. And what will Sting's role be? He's obviously going to have some major role in this War Games match. My money is on him being part of Team WCW and winning the match, but it's also feasible that he could not actually be in the match officially and instead runs in at a critical moment.</p><p> </p><p>

The Kings are threatening to destroy themselves without WCW needing to do much of anything, but something's gotta happen to at least present the illusion of unity before we make it to War Games.</p><p> </p><p>

Vader vs. Giant at BATB? Sign me up. It'll probably be "bowling shoe ugly" as JR would say, but sometimes two behemoths just gotta beat the crap out of each other!</p><p> </p><p>

Magnum is a moron. You can't allow Tommy Young to officiate War Games after that! What if it was all a ploy?!?!</p>

<p>Hogan being on Team KOW is interesting to me as well. The first thought that popped into my head was that Hogan turns on the Kings, turns face, and saves the day for WCW. However, the second thought that popped into my head was that considering Beejus' track record for pulling off some great surprises...that might indeed be too obvious to be what actually goes down.</p><p> </p><p>

Overall this was a stacked card from top to bottom--you really do have a ridiculously talented roster and you are using it well.</p><p> </p><p>

Great show, Beejus!--And as always I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.</p>

<p>Okay, so here's my mission statement. I was trying to be all secretive about it because I felt that nobody would keep reading if I said when the end would come, but here's the long and short of it - I'm kinda tired of the War. After 2+ years of writing this game, it's time to close the book, and get to move onto something new on TEW16.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>However, I always said that this story <em>would</em> have an ending. And that ending will be Bash at the Beach 1996 at the WarGames.</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Bash 96 has been one of those points that I always felt that I was going to close the game at, because I love the synergy of how it all started at the Bash, and it will all end at the Bash. TEW16 being released forced my hand a little, as I wasn't going to announce anything until it was over and done in the past, but now I feel it's time to just be open about it. I've had quite a few other potential stopping points, those being Starrcade 94, Bash 95, Starrcade 95, Starrcade 96, and I even had a moment where I was going to end this in April 96 (because I wasn't sure if I could pull off the final months; I would have simply moved WarGames to the renamed Sin PPV instead of having Spring Stampede) but I always moved forward to see where I could take the story - and the perfect two year arc just feels perfect.</p><p> </p><p>

That said, I really do hope that anyone still keeping up will continue with me for the final month of War of the Thrones. I'm not going to spill the beans on what my future project will be (only a very, very select few know, and I've hopefully managed to swear them to public secrecy) but let's just enjoy the final shows here until moving on to other things. </p><p> </p><p>

So with one month to go, this means that there will be four more episodes of Nitro to go, along with everyone's favorite Hotline, plus the Bash itself. And yes, there will still be a prediction card for everyone to win a prize on. After all, the story could end with either the Kings being dismantled by losing the match or it could be that the KoW win and take over all of WCW! What will that final prediction prize be? Only I know, and it's staying that way until the final winner is chosen. So I hope to have people show this finale month the same kind of love that you've all shown throughout the course of this game, and then here's hoping that you all keep reading along when I take my writing out of this ghost town and move into the <em>new</em> place to be, the TEW16 Dynasty Board.</p>

June 17th, 1996 (June week 3)

Held at: E.A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Kentucky (Great Lakes)

Commentary: Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura

Attendance: 8,000 (sold out!)

Show Runtime: Two Hours

Rating: B+

This show increased our popularity in 16 regions.

WCW Magazine Stillshots from Great American Bash

One night removed from the Great American Bash, we open the show with stillframes provided by WCW Magazine. We see images from all throughout the evening, as Barry Windham fell to Dustin Rhodes, Vader and The Giant lost the World Tag titles before getting in a brawl backstage, Ric Flair cheated Steve Austin out of his victory, and Roddy Piper announced that Hollywood Hogan would be back on the Kings of Wrestling side at War Games! With July 14 and Bash at the Beach looming ever closer, what will happen tonight on Monday Nitro?!?

Notes: This segment starts a long line of things the crowd felt were over too quickly.

Rating: B

The Kings' Victory Feast, Interrupted

“Hot Rod” Roddy Piper opens the show in the ring alongside “Macho Man” Randy Savage with a smiling Woman at his side, Sting carrying the World championship, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, Harley Race, and a visibly furious Giant standing with his massive arms crossed over his chest behind them. Savage has the microphone to start, saying that the Kings of Wrestling are the top of the top, cream of the crop, oh yeah! He tells the crowd that with the team they've put together, there's no way that WCW can stop them in War Games, the World title is going to stay in the camp and they're going to have to bow down to the Kings once and for all yeah! He points out his big win to “crush the new 'mania” last night over Brian Pillman, telling Brian to go sit at home, and take Liz with him! He hands the mic to Orndorff, who talks about how glad he is to finally have “that big meathead” Simmons behind him, and he is proud to be one of his good friend Roddy's hand-picked representatives for War Games. “President Piper” finally is handed the microphone, and he talks about how proud he is of his Kings last night. He says that there's been a little house cleaning, they've gotten rid of some riffraff losers – namely, Vader and Hall. Piper reiterates that yes, he has been in contact with Hollywood, and after a few months of being out making movies again, Hollywood Hogan has seen the errors of his ways and knows who the boss is around here! Piper says that with the power of he, Hogan, Savage, the real Sting, and “Mr. Wonderful”, there is no way any force from WCW could ever defeat them! He calls WCW second-rate, and adds that the KoW have been involved in two different War Games matches and when they weren't being led by a has-been like Dusty, they won easily! “So now, when we are at full, no drawbacks, no muss, no fuss, full powerful strength, what chance do any of you actually have?”

It would have ended there, but

fills the air, and Steve Austin crashes the party! He says that Piper talks a good game and always has, but to say that when the Kings won War Games they were at “full strength” is laughable; “Hell son, the only person on your team then who is still there now is you!” Austin says that this time, the WCW they're facing are a lot different; whereas that was mostly older men involved, this time the Kings will be facing the young, hungry talent who are tired of the old guard crap! He says that if the Kings want a preview, why don't one of them step foot in the ring tonight?! He points out that he has someone in there right now who's puffing his chest all up because he somehow won a big match last night, and it'd be his privilege to bring “The Nacho Man” back down to size! Piper says that if Austin wants to face Savage, pull double duty tonight, that's his grave he's digging! Savage leans over the top rope pointing at Austin, screaming “Let's do it! Let's do it now!” as Austin flips the lot of them off from the aisle! We have a huge main event now!

Notes: Piper improvised well, and Savage was superb off-script. Randy's performance stood out as being good. Austin also improvised well.

Rating: A

Breathless Commentators

When we return from a commercial break, Tony Schiavone, Jesse “The Body” Ventura, and “Professor” Mike Tenay seem completely overwhelmed already with this evening! They say that the show was set to have two big War Games qualifying matches, Steve Austin facing Johnny B. Badd and Arn Anderson going one-on-one against Lex Luger. However, they called Magnum TA during the break, and Austin will now be wrestling Johnny B. Badd for War Games qualifying this Friday night on WCW Prime, and Austin will indeed wrestle Randy Savage in tonight's main event!

Rating: C+

WCW World Cruiserweight Championship

Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. “Das Wunderkind” Alex Wright

With Mike Tenay on commentary, he talks about how great it is to have a Cruiserweight title match not featuring Syxx and his “perverted antics” as we can get back to great, fast paced action. That is exactly what this match features, as Wright and Mysterio give it their all in a nice little display. Alex may at one time have been destined for success, but as Tony says, he followed the wrong path by listening to Johnny B. Badd. Rey flips behind Wright when he went for his German Suplex, hits the ropes and snaps off a beautiful hurricanrana to score a pinfall and retain his newly won title.

Match Time: 7:07

Rating: C+

WCW United States Tag Team Championships

The Vyle Brothers vs. The Chain Gang w/Harley Race

As Tenay heads back to prepare for his later interviews, Tony talks about the big stipulation involved in this match: if the Brothers win, the Devon will land a singles match against Harley Race. Devon and Mongo Vyle fight hard, but they very obviously are at a huge experience disadvantage compared to the Chain Gang. “Smasher” Barry and “Beast” Brian are just a little too big and a little too brutal in their quest for gaining gold. Randy Anderson ends up eating a clothesline from Mongo, and that's when the heavy steel chain becomes involved. Adams whips Mongo with it, punching him with the chain wrapped around his fist to throw him out of the ring, and then the two set up Devon for the Hard Ride. But there is a huge save made – by The Road Warriors!! Hawk and Animal are back, and they shove Adams off the ropes and double clothesline Darsow with the chain! Anderson comes back around to see Barry being covered by Devon, and he counts the three!

As Harley is stomping around the ring, he stops and looks back into the ring – and Devon is staring him down, a huge smile on his face! The match will be made, Devon Vyle will get to go head to head with the thorn in his side, Harley Race!

Match Time: 7:39

Notes: The Road Warriors brought back their Power & Paint (Brute) gimmicks, scoring an A for Animal and an A* (100) for Hawk.

Diamonds Cut Deep

“The People's Champion” Diamond Dallas Page vs. The Boulder w/Dr. Karnage

Diamond Dallas Page is backstage with Mike Tenay. Mike asks him about his win last night over Scott Hall, with Dallas says that a huge weight has been lifted off of his neck by not having Kimberly siphoning money off of him. Page tells Mike that he can't wait to get into his qualifying match for War Games in the next month, as he is excited to force them out. When Tenay asks Dallas his thoughts for Hogan returning, Page says that it was when he was screwed out of defeating Hogan that the fans started dubbing him “The People's Champion”, so if he can get into War Games and win the World championship, then he'll fully live up to the name!

The returning Dungeon of Doom member The Boulder is in the ring to face Dallas tonight, and despite what Dr. Karnage tries to do from the outside, the result is not in much question. King Puma comes out and forces Karnage to leave, and Tony says that Page is “The Master of the Diamond Cutter” as he drops Boulder with it en route to scoring the pin.

Match Time: 5:29

Notes: The promo was short, but Page came out of the match looking good. Road agent The Assassin felt it was a well executed squash.

Ratings: B / C

Throwing Away the Leftovers

Syxx is seen backstage, as he enters the Kings of Wrestling dressing room. He runs into Roddy Piper, who stops Syxx in his tracks by asking him what he's doing here. Syxx is confused, but Piper clears it up by saying that he lost his title and then his “best buddy” lost his head, and that was one more strike than he deserved. Roddy calls for security, and they start pulling Syxx out of the room! He complains loudly, saying “This is no way to treat someone with a guaranteed title match!” but Piper pays him no mind. It looks like some more of the so-called useless members are thrown out of the KoW!

Rating: B-

A Grand Return to Form

“Mean” Gene is backstage, and he has run into Hawk and Animal! He welcomes them back to WCW, but Animal says that they aren't back for just any reason – they're here to fight! Hawk tells 'em that the Chain Gang tried to be big men and take the Warriors out, but they could only send them away for a month. Animal says that when they get Brian and Barry in the ring, they'll be putting them out on a slab! Hawk closes with the trademark “What a rush!”

Rating: C+

Falls Count Anywhere in the Building

Terry Gordy vs. Cactus Jack

There's nothing quite like a Cactus Jack falls count anywhere match, and with a such willing participant as “Bam Bam” Gordy, magic can happen. It certainly does, as they brawl up the aisle and into the backstage, then back down the aisle and back into the ring. Back out of the ring, and Jack is able to hit an upside down body attack before dropping his apron elbow with a chair to finally score a victory, shouting a loud “Bang bang!” to the cheering crowd! What will be next for Cactus Jack?

Match Time: 12:12

Welcome to Hour #2…. with a recap video!

Instead of just the commentators talking, we get the fireworks display but Tony throws us to a video package. It goes clear back to Bash at the Beach 1994, when Roddy Piper debuted in WCW to help Hollywood Hogan win the World Heavyweight title. It then shows Piper and Savage beating Hogan down at Starrcade, but then him announcing Hollywood as being in the KoW's side at War Games. The question is, is Hogan really on the Kings of Wrestling team? The only way to find out will be to order Bash at the Beach on July 14th!

Notes: The video was a little too cut and dry, it could have featured more footage.

Rating: B+

War Games is Approaching

“Mean” Gene is in the ring when we come back, and he welcomes everyone to hour two of Monday Nitro. He then brings out his guests at this time, WCW Commissioner Magnum TA and “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes! Magnum says that War is coming, and he can't wait! Magnum tells everyone to keep watching WCW television to find out who the five men are who will be in War Games for WCW, as Dustin says that he swears he will be on the War Games team for the third year in a row. Rhodes says that as soon as Magnum makes the announcement, he'll be in the ring giving it his all, and he will be one of the elite men who put the final nail in the coffin of the Kings of Wrestling!

Notes: Dustin really enjoyed the freedom of being unscripted and performed well, while Magnum had some masterful crowd interactions. But again, they were rushed.

Rating: B-

“Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko vs. Rick Martel

A big match between two veterans of the sport, albeit two with vastly different views as Zbyszko represents the Kings of Wrestling and trying to stay on top of the business over the young stars coming up, while Martel has been trying to help the young men learn and become better. What's unexpected is just how well this match plays out, as Larry's stalling ways really infuriates the Kentucky crowd and they are calling for Martel to deliver Larry's blood. They are made even more furious at Zybszko when that blood is not handed out thanks to the massive Wrath, as he enters the ring and decimates Martel right in front of referee Nick Patrick to cause a disqualification.

Tony says that this is what happened the last time Martel was in the ring with someone from the KoW, but this time there's some help on the way – Chris Candido rushes out, with Tammy following right behind, and he helps Martel to hit a big double dropkick to send Wrath out of the ring! With the numbers now against him, Zbyszko disappears from the ring in a hurry, as Chris and Rick shake hands and tell the KoW duo to bring it back now that the odds are even!

Match Time: 8:28

This Week on WCW Prime

To fill in those who missed the announcement earlier, a graphic comes up telling fans to tune into WCW Prime this Friday night to see the War Games qualifying match between Johnny B. Badd and Steve Austin!

Rating: B-

WarGames Qualifying Match

“The Total Package” Lex Luger vs. “The Enforcer” Arn Anderson w/Bobby Heenan

Up next is a big match between two men who know one another very, very well. Tony talks about how these guys have been wrestling either together or against one another for almost ten years now, and they've both only gotten better – and either of them would be great representatives in War Games. Anderson works over Luger's powerful arm, which Jesse calls correctly as the classic Anderson strategy. But the crowd are all for “The Total Package” and he responds by powering Arn into a gorilla press slam! From there it becomes a series of clotheslines, a big power slam, and finally the Torture Rack causing the submission and Lex's ticket being punched for Bash at the Beach!

Lex Luger gets a microphone after the match and says that while he respects Arn Anderson very much, there was no way he was missing out on War Games on the fourteenth! He says that he wants to be in the cage against Roddy Piper… against that bogus Sting… against Hollywood Hogan! And he will Rack all of them to win the World Heavyweight title back for World Championship Wrestling!

Match Time: 10:04

Notes: The promo was short.

Ratings: B / B

Steve Austin vs. “Macho Man” Randy Savage w/Woman

We head to commercial with Randy Savage seen walking to the ring, hyping himself up as he talks to Woman about being the “best” “top” “greatest in the world” etc., etc.

When we come back, Steve Austin is on his way to the ring. The bell sounds as soon as Savage gets there and jumps through the ropes, because both intense men rush to one another and start throwing wild haymakers! This match isn't the wild brawl that Cactus and Gordy let on, but it isn't far off, as Jesse calls this “a war of attrition” because neither man would ever willingly give this match up. Savage takes over with his trademark over-the-top-rope hangman neck snap, going to work on Austin with a headlock. He keeps breaking it in order to deliver more punishment, driving numerous standing elbow drops onto Austin to a near fall. Steve is finally able to get some distance between them by sending Savage into the ropes, and the two collide head to head. As Tommy Young delivers a count on both men, they crawl to their feet and throw fists again. But when things get a little too heated, Tommy has to get between the two – and he pays for the past few months of being on the wrong side of the tracks, as the already untrusting Austin wastes no time in delivering a Stunner to Tommy Young! The match continues, but as soon as Tommy has half a wit back to him, the bell is called for, and Austin is disqualified.

The crowd aren't very happy about that, and boo louder when security come out to pull Austin away. Savage and Woman are laughing at Austin in the ring, but “American Made” causes them to stop laughing! “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman and Miss Elizabeth come out to the cheers of all his Pillmaniacs! Savage tells him to get out of here, because he's already proven that he's the better man every time they've gotten in the ring! Brian has his own microphone, and he points out that Savage has never beaten Pillman one-on-one without controversy, no matter how many falls he may get on him. Brian says that it's time they solve this once and for all, and they will see who the better man finally is next week on Monday Nitro! Brian says that he already spoke to Magnum, and facing Savage will count as his qualification match for War Games. “But it won't prove who the better man is by having one single fall to cheat the other out of! So next week, prove you or I are the true top of this game by going in that ring for thirty long, grueling minutes in an Iron Man Challenge!” Savage tells Pillman that if he wants it, he's got it, and Savage is going to break him in half for all of a half hour! What an announcement, so make sure to tune into Nitro next week!

Match Time: 11:56

Notes: Savage backstage was considered not long enough. Savage and Austin just didn't click. Woman did some good work at ringside, but the crowd were just burned out. Pillman worked the crowd well with his promo, and Savage really enjoyed going off-script with Brian, though again, the segment was thought to be too abrupt.

First of all, I'll be sad to this one go, but it's a testament to your writing and your commitment that you could even plan a conclusion to a diary. Plus, it gives you more time to continue that sweet attitude era diary.

On to the show! Interesting to see how Austin and Pillman were screwed, but I'm guessing they get their revenge at War Games. Speaking of War Games, I hope we get room for Cactus on the team, even though he feels kinda swept aside at this point. But, we'll probably get lame old Dustin. EDIT: I forgot Lex!

Surprised to see the KOW fall apart so early as well, with the status of Hall and the Giants up in the arm. Interesting to see Vader turn face though, as it seemed that Giant may have been the one turning during the build.

Anyways, I'm excited to see this show, but not excited to this one conclude. Keep up the good stuff

Will the power of Pillmania be enough for Brian to earn his way into WarGames?! Tune into Monday Nitro to find out!

Option 3: What the world ISN’T watching!

The Heartbroke Joke kicked the corpse of Mean Mark Callous into a loss while JPL defeated the Samoan sumo wrestler. Sources tell us that this is going to become a long-running feud between the two. Does anyone care? We know you sure don't; make sure to keep watching WCW to see who enters WarGames!

Option 4: Last weekend’s WCW Disney/MGM taping results!

WCW Prime: B-

Steve Armstrong with a Texas Cloverleaf (D-) … Tenay interviews Douglas after the match, and he shows no remorse toward Dean Malenko for paying Bubba Rogers to beat him up (D+) … Gene interviews Steve Austin, who says all the Kings of Wrestling do is make him want to punch them in their old, smug faces, and when he gets into WarGames with them, that's exactly what he'll do! (B) … The LadyKillers d. WCW Worldwide: B- The Panel: Tony Schiavone, Gene Okerlund, Ted DiBiase, Theodore R. Long

The Panel open the show talking about WarGames, and how Roddy Piper announced the entire team at the Great American Bash last week – including Hollywood Hogan! Meanwhile, WCW have held two qualifying matches so far, and so Lex Luger and Steve Austin are officially on the WCW team (B) … Diamond Dallas Page d. Mike Enos (C+) … Bam Bam Bigelow d. Shawn Stasiak (D+) … Chris Jericho d. David Cash to retain the TV title © … Cactus Jack meets with The Panel for an interview, where he says that watching the Great American Bash, he was filled with something that a man had never filled him with before – Pillmania! Juventud Guerrera; Chris Jericho took Long's place on commentary, talking bad about Scorpio every chance he could © … The Panel interview The Road Warriors, who say that the Chain Gang could only put them out of action for a few weeks; while they intend to put Barry and Brian out in the morgue! (C+) … Owen Hart and Arn Anderson d. The Armstrong Brothers (B) … Gene interviews Owen and Bobby Heenan after the match, asking Owen if he even talks to his family anymore after joining with “these snakes and this weasel”. Owen says that his family is behind him one hundred percent in joining with the Four Horsemen and have been for the entire time, saying that he will be happy to join WarGames and fight for this way of life (B) … The Panel discuss the Iron Man Challenge tomorrow on Nitro to end the show (C+)

Option 5: Mean Gene’s backstage pass!

Backstage at Disney, Steve Corino and Tyler Karlet seem to have made friends. Also, Johnny B. Badd had brought in alcohol for everyone. And Randy Savage seems to have taken a shine to young Shawn Stasiak. Diamond Dallas Page has signed on a new, years long contract with WCW. But he apparently hasn't been the only one – another man has signed on the dotted line, and while I haven't confirmed who it is, a few of the people who know about these things have been restructuring the Bash at the Beach card a little bit in order to make sure this big star gets fit onto it!

Option 6: The Monday Night War Neilson ratings!

Nitro drew the same 7.83 rating that it did the week before, however Raw suffered to a 4.34 rating.

Option 7: Tony Schiavone’s moment of the week!

Seeing so many stars of WCW join together to offer to take on the Kings of Wrestling is music to our ears! It doesn't seem to matter whether the person is beloved or hated by fans, most everyone has stepped up in order to take down this threat once and for all! We can only hope that as Bash at the Beach draws closer, it will be enough to eliminate them in WarGames!

Option 8: Mike Tenay’s International Report!

Keiji Mutoh, or The Great Muta as he's more known to our US fans, seems badly in need of a break from action. He went from wrestling at the Great American Bash last Sunday straight into a hard-hitting match at the Naruto Motorboat Race Place the very next night against Jushin Thunder Liger. Muta won the match against Liger, but it was evident that he needs a day or so to recover from that travel schedule if he's going to remain at 100%!

Option 9: A special gift from the WCW Catalog!

Earn an exclusive signed Sting t-shirt by entering the WCW Catalog's “I Stand With Sting” giveaway! Send a postcard with your name, address, and $5 to the address you were given on WCW programming to enter! But do it fast, because this giveaway won't last long!

Held at: St. Louis Arena in St. Louis, Missouri (Mid West)

Commentary: Tony Schiavone and Jesse “The Body” Ventura

Attendance: 10,000 (sold out!)

Show Runtime: Two Hours

Wild Horses

From the opening video we head straight to the ring, where The Four Horsemen have gathered. Bobby Heenan is urging the fans to stop chanting “Weasel” at him, as Eddy Guerrero stands on the second turnbuckle and winks at a lady in the front row. Arn Anderson and Owen Hart stand stoically in the center of the ring as “The Nature Boy” speaks. He says that everyone told him he wouldn't be able to win World War 3, quoting “You're just too old Naitch, give it up!” He quotes it again in regards to taking on Steve Austin in a steel cage, before asking “Who's laughing now? Woooo!” Flair says that with Austin behind the Horsemen, it's time to look ahead to War Games. Ric tells everyone that there is a conspiracy against the Horsemen as only he and Arn were allowed qualifying matches, and says that it doesn't matter that “The Enforcer” got knocked out with a foreign object last week; “Because if there's one Horsemen, there's all four of us!” Ric says that he will be happy to represent WCW just like he always has, but that Magnum needs to let him know who the sacrificial lamb is to fall to “The Nature Boy”!

Commissioner Magnum TA emerges from the back with a microphone of his own, and he has something else he wants to address to one of the Horsemen. He calls out to Owen, saying that he heard what Hart had to say last week about how his family is one hundred percent behind him. Owen nods, saying they are; but Magnum tells everyone that he's heard things a lot differently. He moves on then, infuriating Owen who started asking who he talked to. Magnum turns his attention to Flair, saying that Ric is promised a War Games qualifying match, and he will receive one next week on Nitro… in a Starrcade rematch, against this man! Out of the back comes “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes, and Flair actually looks afraid for a second! He regains his cool by convening with “The Brain” for a moment, before saying that he will be happy to right the wrong that he suffered at Starrcade, by proving once and for all that “any fluke can happen, but to be The Man, you have to beat The Man. And Dustin, you may have been the winner that night, but one thing you still have to prove is that you can be The Man. Wooooo!” Dustin looks like he could be ready to charge the ring right now, but he holds off, with Magnum telling everyone to tune in next week to see which of these men will enter the double ring, steel cell that is War Games!

Notes: Bobby helped Flair in this one, and Ric really looked good. “The Brain” had a pretty stale gimmick for a while now, but it's been changed to simply The Brain gimmick, and he rated a B+ at it. When Magnum came out, he did some masterful improvising with Ric.

Kingly Desires

From one power to another as now we join the (hopefully) interim WCW Vice President “Hot Rod” Roddy Piper. Harley Race, “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff, and The Giant are standing with him, and Piper seems none too pleased. He says that “We have promised Hogan, now all everyone wants to talk about is Hogan this, Hogan that! The thing everyone should be talking about is the Kings of Wrestling, most dominant group in wrestling, and some of the prettiest too!” He mugs for the camera before getting serious, as Orndorff says that there's no worries at War Games; “Hollywood will either do what's best for us, or we'll do what's best for us and put him right back on his butt, and this time no crawling back to the Kings!” Harley has a different match in mind, as he looks ahead to his former pupil, Devon King. Race talks about having taught Devon everything he knows, but not everything that Harley knows. Harley laughs, saying that he may have lost a step or two since he's been out of the game, but that's still enough to show some little upstart just how wet behind the ears they actually are! Piper mentions Vader, “that big, dumb ingrate”. He mocks Vader, saying that he needs to check his watch, because “Vader Time was over back around the same time as Howdy Doody,” with Giant snarling and screaming that it's time for Vader to come crashing back to Earth, courtesy of a true monster, The Giant! “President Piper” smiles, saying that on the fourteenth of July, there will be fireworks again – but it'll actually be the bombs that the Kings of Wrestling drop on World Championship Wrestling!

Notes: Piper looked good and Giant came across well, but with lesser members of the group on hand it fell short of the Horsemen promo before it.

Jeff Jarrett w/Woman vs. “The Monster” Vader

“The Monster” finds himself being given thunderous cheers for probably the first time in his career by the WCW crowd, as he enters the ring to face off with a member of his former brethren. Tony points out that these two were not only in the KoW together, they also had joined Brian Pillman's New World Order, and both turned on Brian at the first chance they got. Jarrett tries his best to take “The Monster” down a peg, but Vader is nigh unstoppable. He decimates Jarrett with powerful strikes, and rises right back to his feet when Jeff turns away to strut following a guillotine body splash. Jarrett's strut ends when Vader takes his head off with a clothesline, before hitting the Vader Bomb splash to pick up a relatively sweat-free victory.

“Mean” Gene comes out to catch Vader on his way back to the dressing room, and he asks Vader for a few words about The Giant. “The Monster” minces no words, saying that all along, Vader has wanted one thing: a championship back around his waist. He talks about how Piper is making big promises and manipulating everyone in the Kings of Wrestling, but only on Piper's own terms. Vader says how he was feeling pretty down and out after he was cost the World title by Randy Savage, and that's when Roddy got in his ear and convinced him that it wasn't Vader Time anymore, and that's when he agreed to team with Giant to win the Tag titles. Gene asks about that, with Vader saying that he hoped he could get through to Giant, because he's still young enough to learn, but the only thing in those eyes was the lies that he's been told by Hogan and Piper. “No more!” Vader screams, saying that “The Monster” has woken back up, and he will walk into Bash at the Beach and lay The Giant to waste! Because it doesn't matter who he's fighting alongside or if the crowd chants his name or not, the only thing that's constant is that he's the man! Vader's the man! And it is Vader Time!

Match Time: 9:21

Notes: Vader had the crowd in the palm of his hand with his improvising, and especially with donning his new Man Beast (Brute) gimmick, which scored a perfect 100! Gene also worked the crowd well. The match suffered from slightly short length.

Rating: B / B

The Road Warriors vs. The Wild Samoan Boyz w/Col. Robert Parker

Tony wonders aloud if this match wasn't granted by Piper in order to weaken Hawk and Animal as they walk toward Bash at the Beach to take on the Chain Gang, with likely a big reward for Colonel Parker if his Samoans are able to maim or injure one of them. Ekmo and Kimo do what they can in order to ensure just that, as they rip and tear at the Warriors' limbs and face, trying to cause as much damage as they can. However, the Road Warriors are not called “The Monsters of the Midway” for nothing, and Hawk would probably say they aren't that good looking anyways; so they are able to withstand the pain and brawl back against the tide, punching and kicking the Samoans into a dominant position before hitting Ekmo with the Doomsday Device. Animal makes the pin to pick up a big return victory for the team.

The bell has just sounded by the time that The Chain Gang have hit the ring, armed with their heavy biker chains! Brian and Barry attack Hawk and Animal, but the Road Warriors are ready, ripping chains of their own out from their shoulderpads! WCW security hit the ring in order to stop the two teams from ripping one another apart only three weeks away from their big Chains match at Bash at the Beach!

Match Time: 8:17

Notes: Animal looked good in this short match. He and Hawk still have such excellent chemistry. The crowd are burned out already after Vader's hot promo.

I Am Iron (Macho) Man

Backstage in a dressing room, we zoom in on “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Woman is not with him at the moment, and in a rare time, we see him by his lonesome. He talks directly to the camera but addresses Brian Pillman. Savage says that people told him years ago that his time had come, but he has gone above and beyond, to infinity and beyond to show that they were all wrong. He talks about how people, even his ex-wife, said he was crazy, off his rocker, certifiably and justifiably insane, but the truth of the matter is that he's just crazy like a fox. At that point, Woman bursts into the room holding Elizabeth! Savage looks his ex-wife in the eyes and tells her that she's gone too far aligning with Pillman against him, telling her that she should have been happy with the alimony and just stayed at home, yeah! Elizabeth tells him that he's the one who went too far, but he screams at her to shut up! He doesn't grab her, but he almost hits her as he says that what he did was none of her concern ever since the papers were signed, sealed, and delivered! He says that she is probably the one who called Brian, hyping him up to think he could defeat “The Macho Man” in an Iron Man match, but he screams that he is the iron man! And he'll prove it again, and again, and again – but she won't be there to see any of it. The camera turns and we find that he wasn't actually in a dressing room at all, but a hallway, and there's a door leading to the outside! He and Woman force Elizabeth out the door, and slam it shut behind them! Liz pounds on the door, screaming for someone, anyone to let her back in! It looks like Miss Elizabeth won't have any bearing on the main event tonight whatsoever, thanks to Randy Savage and Woman!

Notes: Savage really used the freedom off-script to his advantage and came across well, even if the promo did seem short before the action part.

A Cowboy Tips His Hat

We have a sit-down interview now, as Mike Tenay speaks with Barry Windham. He hasn't been seen since the Great American Bash, which he talks about as having been one of his proudest losses. He says that he made Dustin's life Hell, and he tried to show that Rhodes was just not ready… but he was. Barry warns Dustin though, that he may have lost a match, but that he will be back in WCW sooner than “The Natural” may want.

The Giant w/Woman vs. Bam Bam Bigelow

Bam Bam Bigelow is a monster in his own right, one of the best big men in the business, and also a former partner of Vader. And in this match, The Giant overclasses him in every way. Giant clobbers Bigelow with heavy right hands, and easily bodyslams him to the mat. Giant casually hefts Bam Bam up off the mat and drills him with a ring shaking Chokeslam, and makes the cover with only one foot on the chest.

Giant looks ready to send more of a message, getting with Woman who pulls out a Vader-esque red mask. Giant places it on Bigelow's head, and lifts him into another Chokeslam! Officials are trying to come out and get Giant to leave, but there's no way they are going to make him do something he doesn't want to do! He sets Bigelow up for a third Chokeslam, but that's when “The Monster” emerges from the back! He gets right into Giant's face and shoves him away from Bigelow, but before they can go to blows, Woman screams at Giant to “Stick with the plan!” Giant laughs at Vader, who is ready to fight right now, but Giant steps over the top rope and leaves with no further incident. Medical personnel begin checking on Bigelow, as Vader flexes and calls for Giant to come back and fight!

Match Time: 5:17

Notes: The match and confrontation were both too short, and the crowd are now cold.

Welcome to Hour #2!

After another fireworks display around the arena, we go to Tony Schiavone and Jesse Ventura. They talk about the action that we've seen already, and says that there is still a lot coming yet. Gene Okerlund and Mike Tenay chime in from backstage at the interview area, as they are also excited for the rest of this evening as “The Loose Cannon” takes on “The Macho Man” in our main event, a match that is guaranteed to be a half hour long between the two. The best man will truly win, right here tonight!

Notes: This really fell flat after the last segment.

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

Lord Steven Regal w/Sir Tyler Karlet vs. Billy Kidman

Billy Kidman finally gets his promised title match, only because “his Lordship” was getting close to the thirty day mark that a champion must defend his title. Kidman takes the fight straight to the overconfident champion, proving that Regal's nose shouldn't be nearly as high as it was the start this match. However, before the match can get too far in, Syxx is seen walking up through the audience. He is on the other side of the barricade, and he reaches over to grab the United States title off the timekeeper's table! But he can't get very far, as in a flash Rey Mysterio Jr. hits the ringside area and starts pulling Syxx over the railing, fighting with him around the ring! In the chaos outside, Kidman's mind gets unfocused, and Regal trips him up, putting his feet on the ropes – with Karlet holding his feet on the ropes as well – to score a three count. Regal sends the massive Karlet over to retrieve the championship and the two make off like thieves in the night, and security are trying to break Syxx and Mysterio up as Billy is left shaking his head.

Big Bubba Rogers w/Col. Robert Parker vs. “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes

This is billed as a “warm-up” match for Dustin before he takes on Ric Flair next week, but Tony says that much like earlier tonight this seems like a match where “President Piper” is likely using the Stud Stable in order to try hurting another member of WCW. However this one goes about as well as the last one did, as Dustin runs through Rogers before hitting the running bulldog. Jesse points out that Tommy Young was the official in this match, and he called things completely down the middle; so perhaps he will in fact be the best to officiate at War Games.

Match Time: 6:50

Notes: The crowd are a little tired, but Parker definitely did some good work at ringside.

Pillmania is Iron-clad

“Mean” Gene Okerlund is out in the aisle to tell fans to call the WCW Hotline for news about someone who has left World Championship Wrestling this past week. Gene then brings out Brian Pillman, who slaps hands with Dustin Rhodes as the two pass. Gene asks Brian about his Iron Man match tonight, but Brian just screams about how sorry he's going to be to WCW and the Kings of Wrestling – because tonight, he's going to embarrass a legend by once and for all proving that Randy Savage is not the force he once was in professional wrestling! Brian says that he has never wanted to be “the new Macho Man” because he is the first, only, and best Brian Pillman there will ever be! Okerlund asks Brian then about Miss Elizabeth, asking if her being forced out of the building changes Brian's game plan for the match. Pillman says that it changes nothing; he's been happy hanging around with Liz for the past month, but she's only one of the many, many Pillmaniacs out there who are cheering him on. He says that as long as the Pillmaniacs keep their trust low, spirits high, and cannon ready to fire, there's no way he can lose!

Notes: Brian really performed well, clearly happy not being scripted. Gene also improvised well, but surprisingly the promo fell flat compared to the last match.

Iron Man Challenge – Brian Pillman's War Games Qualifying Match

“Macho Man” Randy Savage w/Woman vs. “Loose Cannon” Brian Pillman

Brian awaits Randy in the ring when we come back from commercial break, and the two slow the match down. Tony talks about how normally you wouldn't see a feeling out process between men who have wrestled one another this often, but these two are veterans who know what it takes to wrestle for thirty minutes. “Macho Man” strikes first blood by taking the first fall, hitting the Flying Elbow to get a pinfall. Savage then takes a second fall by getting a count out after Woman interjected herself, kicking Brian low and causing him to not be able to re-enter the ring. At 2-0, Savage begins playing keep-away, frustrating Brian with long headlocks. Savage slips into a sleeper hold, but Pillman kicks off the top turnbuckle and gets a pin to get on the board! Brian is later able to hit a dropkick as Savage came off the top rope and scores another quick pin! The final few minutes then is a scramble for each man as they try to get that final elusive win. And with ten seconds remaining, Pillman hits a superplex from the top rope! Each man hooks one another's legs, but both's shoulders are down – and there's a three count! But Brian just pulled his shoulder off the mat at the final split second, and he picks up the victory!

Randy Savage is enraged! He motions to Woman, who slides him a chair. Before a winded Brian can leave the ring, Savage hammers Pillman with the chair! Out of the back strolls Roddy Piper, The Giant, Paul Orndorff, and Sting – no way is it the real one, it's the one carrying the World title. Brian may have won his place into War Games, but he could lose a lot right here with these type of odds. The five men begin pounding on Brian, leaving him laying with Sting's baseball bat. It looks like it'd be pointless to try and get in the way of this – but out of nowhere bursts Cactus Jack! Cactus said that he felt “filled with Pillmania” a few nights ago, and he tries to rescue Brian from the attack. However, Giant catches Jack with the bat, which actually cracks with the sheer force! The camera zooms in on the splinters on the canvas, as the KoW split off and stomp on both men. Tony notes that Cactus will have a qualifying match next week, if he can make it through this! The crowd cheers loudly however when Steve Austin comes down to the ring! He is armed with a chair of his own, and he hits Giant with it to knock him out of the ring! Austin tackles Sting, punching him and ripping at the mask! A loud cheer comes up as the mask seems to be ripping, but that's when Piper and Savage get Austin away from him. Piper has something around his knuckles as he punches Austin right between the eyes. From there, it's all the KoW, as all three men from WCW are taken apart in the ring, namely by The Giant. The three are left lying in the middle of the ring as the Kings of Wrestling stand over them, and on that somber note, the show fades out to black – with the sound of the fans loudly chanting “We want Sting! We want Sting!”

Notes: Both men seemed to be holding back. The crowd were a little cold yet here. Savage really is suffering from decline, and his stamina did not hold up in this long match.
