History of Professional Wrestling

Prologue

It's the year 1908. The world is changing at a quick pace and with it comes new sports. One of those sports was Professional Wrestling. A 35-year old man named Hiruzen Aoki was the one who decided to start the whole business. One cold sunday morning in December of 1907 he was watching sumo training at a local training ground when he saw something that changed his whole life.

Two of the wrestlers were practicing their skills in a small spar where they told what they were going to do next. Hiruzen got closer to the wrestlers and watched them closely. That was when he saw his future. He wanted to create a new sport which would be scripted and would feature realistic action.

A few weeks after the happening he decided that this is it. He set up Japanese Championship Wrestling and this is the history of JCW and the rest of the modern wrestling.

(OOC. So yeah. I decided to do a TEW 13 diary after finally buying it. I couldn't decide which promotion to play so my choice was to create a watcher game right from the beginning.)

Chapter 1. Settling In

1.1 The First Ones.

In the beginning of the 1908 Hiruzen Aoki began to advertise his upcoming business and by the end of March he had already gotten a roster of ok wrestlers. They were young and interested in the sport and they would be the true pioneers of Professional Wrestling.

March turned to April and Aoki thought it was time to have the first event. It was called JCW Strength Test. The show only drew 18 people to the crowd but it was seen as a complete success. JCW even crowned champions at the event and so we had the first champions in the business. Here is the card in full:

After the show Hiruzen Aoki had a small interview in the local newspaper where he advertised their next event and gave a brief description about Professional Wrestling. This was the first time Wrestling was talken about in the media. People saw Aoki as a fine young man with a dream and the interview gave a brief boost to the company.

However the buzz about JCW calmed down before they held their next event. They continued from where they started and held shows monthly for the rest of the year.

1.2 The Rest of the Year

It's already the July of 1908 and Hiruzen Aoki with the Japanese Championship Wrestling had left their mark. They continued to train new wrestlers and they were ready as ever for the next show. The show had their lowest attendance to date but the show itself was another success.

K.K: Indeed you are. I am the current JCW Triple Crown Champion and I'm the best wrestler at the moment without a doubt!

H.S: Is there something else you want to say to the readers?

1.3 The rise of wrestling

And so began the year 1909. JCW was the only active wrestling company and they provided solid wrestling with small amounts of acting involved. Their popularity was on a steady rise and they prepared for the year by training more wrestlers and by taking their shows to a new level with safer rings which make a better sound and keep the wrestlers safe.

The next event held by JCW was another milestone for them. They had 98 people in the crowd and they had gathered such popularity in a little under a year. This was a vocal point in their rise as their attendance numbers kept rising in big numbers. Kyushichi Kawai was still their top star alongside with Hiruzen Aoki and Yoshiteru Aida. There was a lot of talk about Professional Wrestling migrating to other countries but still no one had made a move in USA or anywhere else in the world.

That was the point when things really started to change. One of those 173 spectators was an American man named Leroy Baroni and he was the one to spread the sport of Professional Wrestling. He started his own company named Lethal Ring, or L-Ring for short. He started gathering workers and was soon ready to set up their first event. While L-Ring was setting up their operation JCW continued their strong rise and held events monthly.

In the middle of the July of 1909, the wrestling world got their first bit of negative popularity after their current Triple Crown Champion Shoyo Nobunaga was involved in an incident with the police. He was drunk at a local park and had to spend a night at the jail. Hiruzen Aoki was furious about the incident but didn't want to lose one of their best wrestlers. "Shoyo may be a beast in the ring but he seems to have a lot of trouble with the police! This was not the first time for him..." was said by Aoki after the incident. This left a clear mark to Shoyo's image but it also helped him to gather a lot of heat as a heel and made him one of the best heels of the early years of wrestling.

1.4 Flight of JCW

As JCW continued their rise, L-Ring was in deep trouble. They just couldn't draw people to their shows but atleast they somehow managed to make profit. There were now clear top wrestlers in USA and Japan. USA's top star was Roger St. Pierre who could brawl with anyone. Shoyo Nobunaga was a bit different case. He wasn't that big and neither was he strong. He won his matches with his speed and brains.

During the year of 1909 the Universal Wrestling Association was set up. They had a group of wrestling fans from both Japan and USA who were the jury for the first ever Wrestling Awards.

Wrestling Awards 1909

Wrestler of the Year: Kyuso Mashita

- This was truly thought to be a huge surprise. Mashita had a negative record for the year (4-0-7) and he didn't hold any titles. What instead made him the best wrestler of the year was the amount of great matches he had.

Young Wrestler of the Year: Shoyo Nobunaga

- Many people thought of the Wrestling Awards as a joke after they revealed the Young Wrestler of the Year. Nobunaga was the JCW Triple Crown champion and also the JCW International Tag Team Champion. He had almost a perfect year with a record of 10-0-1.

Independent Wrestler of the Year: Christophe Dubé

- This must have been the most surprising award given to all the wrestling fans. Most people hadn't even heard about the independent circuit of wrestling. Dubé had a strong year going 7-0-1. He is easily one of the most talented wrestlers in the world but is being held back by not making a contract with a bigger promotion.

Company of the Year: Japanese Championship Wrestling

- Not much of a surprise here. JCW held great shows monthly bringing the best wrestling in the world to all the fans who went to see them.

Match of the Year: Shoyo Nobunaga defeated Hiruzen Aoki at JCW Air Dragon Air! II (70)

- This is by far the best match seen in the short history of wrestling. Aoki and Nobunaga had a real war which ended to a devastating move called "Powerbomb" by Nobunaga.

Show of the Year: JCW Air Dragon Air! II (63)

- JCW Air Dragon Air! II was truly wrestling at it's finest. Headlined by Shoyo Nobunaga and Hiruzen Aoki for the JCW Triple Crown Title.

And so came to an end the year of 1909. At the end of the year the wrestling world had 287 registered wrestlers around the world. The biggest problem was the small amount of active promotions but there seems to be a bit of a change coming to that.

(OOC. I think I've made a big mistake. I made a new database back when I made the setting for this game and forgot completely about the game world settings when I started. I've only set the importance settings etc. for a few different places where I was thinking about doing the first company... Is there a way to fix this now?)

The date was 17th of May 1910 when wrestling fans had a good reason to get exited. There had been some talk between Leroy Baroni of L-Ring and Ricky Bobish of SCCW. Soon things got heated up and Baroni declared a "war" between the two. They now fight for popularity in the south east areas of USA. The local press was interested in the story and Baroni even got a bit of space from the newspaper. "Bobish didn't respect me. I offered him a deal where we would exchange talent and co-work as much as possible. He just told me to go f**k myself! You just made an enemy instead of a friend! The war is on!".

So what were the biggest moments of the first half of 1910? The biggest moment without arguing is the JCW Triple Crown title win of Hiruzen Aoki. After having numerous fights as a contender for the belt he was unable to do it for 2 years and then he finally captured it after a phenomenal match with Shoyo Nobunaga. The other memorable moments include the starting of the war between SCCW and L-Ring and the expanding of wrestling as a business. There were now independent shows held everywhere in the world!
