IMPACT WEEK 4 OF JANUARY 2006

 

 

Impact starts the same way it did last week, as Chris Jericho comes down to the middle of the ring, and grabs a microphone. “Samoa Joe, I want to fight you at Against All Odds for the X-Division championship. I have defeated two of the so called best, so if you are man enough, meet me in the middle of the ring next week!”

-Jericho + Microphone = GOLD! Great way to kick of the show again. Segment Rating: B+

 

Match 1: Aj Styles vs. James Storm

In a bout that had great heat and good action, A.J. Styles defeated James Storm in 11:38 by pinfall with a Styles Clash.

-Both these guys gave a great opening match. Match Rating: B-

 

Match 2: Abyss vs. Raven

In a bout that had great heat and good action, Raven defeated Abyss in 15:26 by pinfall with an Evenflow DDT.

-Disappinting contest for the fans after such a hot opening. Abyss has not had a good match yet here on impact wresting. Match Rating: C

 

A video is played hyping the fatal fourway main event for tonight. All men talk about how much it means to be champion.

-Segment Rating: B-

 

Match 3: The James Gang vs. Brock Lesnar and Jeff Jarrett

In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Brock Lesnar and Jeff Jarrett defeated The James Gang in 12:52 when Brock Lesnar defeated Kip James by pinfall with a F-5.

-Brock Lesnar and Jeff Jarrett both continue to build momentum here. Match Rating: B-

 

After the match, Brock Lesnar is in the ring, and calls out Rhino to face him. As soon as Rhino appears he gets jumped by Jeff Jarrett, who had been lying down outside the ring. The ambush leaves Rhino down and out. Brock then challenges Rhino to a match at Against All Odds.

-These two guys deliver again, looking forward to see if their match will deliver. Segment Rating: B

 

Match 4: Christian Cage vs. Christopher Daniels vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Sting (Main Event, Match Of The Night)

In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Sting defeated Christopher Daniels, Jeff Hardy and Christian Cage in a Fatal Fourway match in 20:06 when Sting defeated Christopher Daniels by submission with a Scorpion Deathlock.

-Sting will be the next challenger for the NWA World Heavyweight championship. Match Rating: B

WRESTLING NEWS ROUNDUP:

 

-WWE Star Shawn Michaels is rumored to have a heel turn soon. The turn is to help balance the promotion.

 

-ROH Champion Bryan Danielson was on 105.3 Radio earlier this week. He mentioned he gets nervous before matches, and enjoys listening to Jazz to help him focus.

 

-Impact drew a 1.58 rating on Spike TV.

 

-WWE have called up CM Punk to their main roster.

 

-WWE held the royal rumble last night. The main events saw John Cena defeating Triple H to retain the WWE title, and JBL winning the royal rumble. The event received a B+ rating, being called one of the best Rumble PPVs in recent history.

-This is the last impact before Against All Odds, and Samoa Joe has a response to Chris Jerichos challenge!

IMPACT WEEK 1 OF FEBUARY:

 

We are live in front of 3.600 people at the Hart Center Arena, welcome to Impact Wrestling!

 

Brock Lesnar comes down to the ring. He takes a microphone and calls out Rhino. They have a big argument, going back and forth on the microphone, before things take a violent turn and they start brawling. A whole host of staff hit the ring to break them up. Rhino accepts the challenge made by Brock Lesnar, and the two will face off at Against All Odds.

-I`m hoping this match does not fail to live up to expectations. These guys have been delivering great promos, but their in ring work can be questionable. Segment Rating: B

 

Match 1: Chris Sabin vs. Roderick Strong

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Chris Sabin defeated Roderick Strong in 7:51 by submission.

-Sabin continues to bulid momentum here, I believe he has a very bright future in TNA. Match Rating: C

Match 2: Team 3D vs. Team Canada

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, Team 3D defeated Team Canada in 12:23 when Brother Devon defeated Bobby Roode by pinfall with a Lifting Reverse DDT. After the match, Brother Ray grabs the microphone and challenges America`s Most Wanted to a tag team Street Fight for Against All Odds!

-Team 3D and America`s Most Wanted are the two tops teams here in TNA, and will battle once again. Match Rating: C+

Match 3: BG James vs. Samoa Joe

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, BG James defeated Samoa Joe in 11:39 by pinfall.

-Shock finish here! I thought BG James needed the momentum here more then Samoa Joe. Match Rating: B-

After the match, Chris Jericho comes down to the ring. He looks at Samoa Joe, and asks if he is ready for Sunday. Jeff Hardy`s music hits, and he runs down to the ring, knocking Jericho over the ropes. Hardy says Joe picked him to fight Jericho.

-Hardy and Jericho will compete at Against All Odds. Segment Rating: B-

 

Match 4: Aj Styles vs. Alex Shelly (Match If The Night)

In a bout that had a good crowd and good action, A.J. Styles defeated Alex Shelley in 11:55 by pinfall with a Styles Clash.

-Since it will be Jericho/Hardy at the PPV, Samoa Joe will take on Aj Styles for the X-Division Championship.

 

Match 5: Sting vs. Abyss (Main Event)

In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Sting defeated Abyss in 20:28 by submission with a Scorpion Deathlock.

-Sting builds momentum here and helps Abyss put on a good match. Match Rating: B-

 

After the match, Sting is celebrating his victory in the ring. Jeff Jarrett runs in and attacks, beating Sting down into the mat.

-Segment Rating: B-

Aj Styles defeated the impressive Alex Shelly, and now has a match against Samoa Joe. Two of the top X-Division stars go one on one, will the Muscle Buster or the Styles Clash be the difference maker?

 

Brock Lesnars TNA Pay Per View Debut:

Rhino vs. Brock Lesnar

Last Month at Final Resolution, Brock Lesnar helped Jeff Jarrett defeat Rhino to retain his belt. This is the TNA Pay Per View debut of Brock Lesnar and he has a big challenge facing Rhino.

 

Chris Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy

Chris Jericho said he was the best in TNA, and issued a challenge to Samoa Joe. Jeff Hardy accepted the challenge instead, saying Chris Jericho has not beat the best in TNA. Will Chris Jericho be victorious, or will Jeff Hardy be able to shut him up?

<p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">NEWS FROM TNA WRESTLING:</span></p><p>

-Against All Odds got a buy rate of 0.59. This is 0.08 up from Final Resolution. The event earned 119,888 dollars in Pay per View revenue. </p><p> </p><p>

-Backstage sources from TNA say last night Brock Lesnar was very hard to work with. The original finish for the match was planned to be Brock Lesnar and Rhino brawling all over the arena, and the ref calling for the bell. Brock however felt that would ruin his comeback match on PPV, and TNA officials gave him the victory through DQ instead.</p><p> </p><p>

-TNA higher ups are considering competitors for the next NWA Heavyweight Championship match against Jeff Jarrett. Top names being thrown around include Christian Cage, Jeff Hardy, and a rematch for Sting.</p><p> </p><p>

-TNA house shows have been drawing an average of 650 people, and earning an average of $3,500 per show.</p>

Impact opens up, as Jeff Jarrett comes down to the ring. He takes a microphone and starts talking to the crowd, getting booed very loudly, having to stop talking a few times because he couldn’t be heard. Jeff Jarrett says he defeated the legend Sting, and that he (Jeff Jarrett), should be called “the Icon”. Christian Cage comes down to the ring, and calls Jeff Jarrett a coward. They have a big argument, going back and forth on the microphone, before agreeing to face each other later on in a singles match.</p><p>

<em>-Jeff Jarrett is improving at his acting and his charisma. Good way to start the show, getting fans interested in the main event. Segment Rating: B</em></p><p> </p><p>

Match 1: The Naturals vs. Austin Aries & Roderick Strong</p><p>

In a match that had some good action and average heat, The Naturals defeated Austin Aries & Roderick Strong in 11:49 when Andy Douglas defeated Roderick Strong by submission.</p><p>

Match 2: Kip James vs. Monty Brown</p><p>

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Kip James defeated Monty Brown in 12:14 by pinfall.</p><p>

<em>-This match was a stinker! Following both of the Team 3D and America`s Most Wanted tag matches, I expected this match to be really good. It was the worst match of the night. Match Rating: C </em></p><p> </p><p>

WRESTLING NEWS ROUNDUP:</p><p> </p><p>

-Impact drew a 1.59 rating on Spike, down from the last episode which received a rating of 1.61.</p><p> </p><p>

-Ring Of Honor held "Unscripted II" Saturday night in New England, in front of a sell out crowd of 1,800. The main event was Bryan Danielson defeating Delirious to retain the ROH World Heavyweight title(B- Rating). The event received a B- rating overall. Rumors are that TNA is interested in hiring Bryan Danielson.</p><p> </p><p>

-WWE held "No Way Out 2006" from Yankee Stadium in front of a crowd of 44,433. The PPV Buy Rate of the show was 2.39. Main events of the night saw Ric Flair defeating The Undertaker(B+ Rating), and Batista defeating Randy Orton to retain the World Heavyweight title (B- Rating). The event had a B rating overall.</p>

In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Chris Jericho defeated Raven in 14:32 by pinfall with a Codebreaker.</p><p>

In a bout that had great heat and great wrestling action, Sting and Team 3D drew with Planet Jarrett (Jeff Jarrett, Chris Harris and James Storm) in a Sixman Tag Team match in 17:57 following a double disqualification.</p><p>

<em>-Great match here, and the double DQ finish keeps both Sting and Jeff Jarrett looking strong. Match Rating: B-</em></p><p> </p><p>

Match 4: Rhino vs. Abyss (Main Event)</p><p>

In a bout that had great heat and good action, Rhino defeated Abyss in 13:24 by pinfall with a Gore.</p><p>

<em>-An alright match, knew it would be a disappointing main event with Abyss though. Match Rating: C+</em></p><p> </p><p>

After the match, Jeff Jarrett and Brock Lesnar assault Rhino. The lights go out, and Sting appears in the ring to make the save. The show ends with Sting and Rhino standing tall in the ring.</p><p>

<em>-Great ending to Impact, helping the fans and viewers forget about the main event. Jarrett/Sting continues here, and it gives Brock Lesnar some air time. Segment Rating: B</em></p><p> </p><p>

-Many WWE higher ups are worried about Ric Flair, and that he is heading for injury. Ric Flair is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, and recently put on an A rated match with Edge on RAW. WWE is worried if Ric Flair were to be injured, that they would loss a top talent.

 

-The Rock last night told the world he will return to the world of wrestling. After a hiatus, the 7 time WWE champion revealed that he has been training and getting into shape for the ring. Rumors are the top companies are all preparing deals for the rock.

 

-Word from an unnamed source in TNA is that Jeff Jarrett is ready to drop the title, and deciding on who he will drop it too.

 

-TNA Impact received a 1.59 rating on Spike TV last episode, the same rating as the week before.
