I'm currently enjoying a game save where I'm trying to go from local to global. I thought I'd turn it into a diary where I mostly just post results and general news. This is partly to help me enjoy the save but also to provide backstory as if I manage to reach national I might turn it into a more comprehensive diary where I post each show. I thought that if I do reach national it would seem very random to start a diary with it then when its in 2020 or something like that, this way people will be able to see how the promotion and the game world in general has progressed.

So for now I'm going to stick to posting general updates, it might not be the most exciting read so I'm definitely not expecting many comments, that said, if anybody wants to know anything about what is happening in other promotions or things like that then feel free to ask. Also this will be the first game save on any TEW that I've been a promotion lower than cult, so if I'm doing something wrong then feel free to let me know/ridicule me for it. Posts will probably be very short but pretty quick depending on how fast I play. Got the next few days very free so I imagine I will get at least the first couple of years (20ish shows) done.

P.S This is in no way signaling the end of my Simply Awesome Wrestling diary. On the contrary I'm the most ahead in terms of writing than I've ever been with that so not only has season two just started but I should hopefully be starting a collaboration diary with 20LEgend in the near future.

Lethal Ring News

A monthly event has been scheduled for the second friday of the month. Lethal Ring 1 will take place next week and will see the crowning of the first ever Middleweight Champion.

Sources from within the company believe that three men are being considered for the title: Merle O'Curle, Barry Griffin and Greg Gauge.

Apparently creative believe Greg Gauge has the most long term potential but there are doubts whether he is popular enough to main event most shows, the first ever champion is bound to be somebody they wish to build the company around so they need to not only be good in the ring but must be able to get over with the UK fans quickly. Merle has been said to fit into the style that Lethal Ring want to have, his technical skills and in particular his submissions are thought to be one of the best in Europe. Barry on the other hand is perhaps the weakest of the choice but rumours have it creative are keen to put the belt on somebody who they can trust to stick around, Barry may therefore be the safest choice.

Other company news suggest that the next division to be added will be a lightweight division. This is due to a lack of heavyweights in the UK that are strong enough in ring competitors to suit the Lethal Ring style.

Interesting, I'm used to L-RING being in Hawaii. I'm on board to see how you tackle the dregs of the CVerse British wrestling scene.

...or if the legendary Jeff Amazon gets hired by L-Ring. :p

Seriously, I'm looking forward to this. Enjoyed CCW and still make it a point to pass by SAW from time to time, so be assured I'll be reading this one too. :)

Although the show reportedly took the company into debt it is believed that once the sponsorship money comes in they will have made a small profit.

February 2013

Lethal Ring News

Just days after becoming the first champion in Lethal Ring history "The Irish Stretching Machine"

Merle O'Curle

has accepted an offer to tour Japan with PGHW. Presumably this threw a spanner in the works for the creative team at L-Ring.

It's no surprise then that Lethal Ring 2 ended with

Barry Griffin

being crowned the new Middleweight Champion, by defeating Merle in his second and last show for the company.

New Middleweight Champion

Questions surround Barry, will he be a big enough draw to carry the company? Will he be able to keep up with the intensity needed to thrive in the Lethal Ring? Only time will tell but clearly the faith has been put him in particular to avoid another situation where the company is left high and dry.

Lethal Ring 2 received a very positive D rating, with the main event scoring a D+.

World News

Lethal Ring's only rival in Britain, 21st Century Wrestling, seem to be doing quite well, they just received a B- for a show. Although they are the opposite of what Lethal Ring stand for there is probably space in Britian for the two of them, hopefully both will find success.

Across the pond

Steve Frehley

reigns supreme, defending his title twice in SWF. In TCW

Wolf Hawkins

has defended his title at both PPV's. They both scored a B+ and have kept TCW from falling down to cult. USPW on the other hand have not been so lucky

April 2013

Lethal Ring News

Barry Griffin's reign as Middleweight Champion seems to be going well. After defending the title on both Lethal Ring 3 and 4 with the shows being rated at E+ and D-, neither were earth shattering shows but the company seems satisfied with its consistent growth both in terms of popularity and financially.

Reports suggest that creative are high on Barry, probably because he stepped up in Merle's absence as a reliable performer, other reasons rumored are that the company like having an English Champion as the face of the Lancashire based company and that he is a positive influence backstage.

World News

In other news 21st Century keep on doing pretty well receiving mostly C+ or B-. Dark Angel seems to be doing very well as their world champion. Apparently a friendly rivalry between the two British companies exist with Lethal Ring stating that "there aren't many wrestlers in Jeff's company that could keep up in our ring, but Angel is an exception."

In America there have been no real shocks, Frehley and Hawkins are both still World Champions. TCW however have joined USPW at Cult level leaving SWF with a clear dominance.

July 2013

Lethal Ring News

The last three months have brought both good and bad news for Lethal Ring.

In May, after Lethal Ring 5, the company officially grew to Small level. It is beieved the extra sponsorship money will be used to run longer shows to help build up both the middleweight division and the future lightweight division.

The bad news however is that after 4 successful defenses of the Middleweight title, Barry Griffin has done the unexpected and walked out on Lethal Ring to wrestle in Japan just as Merle O'Curle did six months earlier.

Creative were reportedly angry with the situation, as all of their faith was in Barry, it left them with no immediate prospects with the momentum to become champion.

Their response was to run a two month long tournament to build up and crown a new champion. The winner was the wrestler that although not considered for the belt beforehand, provided the most consistently good performances; Walter Morgan.

New Middleweight Champion

http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/christmas_ape/Lethal%20Ring/WalterMorgan_zps3019f42a.jpg

The company experimented with running two shows in July by adding an annual event named 'Kings of Wrestling', which will run every 4th Sunday of July. Reportedly the company still managed to make a profit despite running two shows so it is believed that this will become the norm in Lethal Ring.

The final piece of news saw the L-Ring return of Merle O'Curle, his commitments in Japan left him busy on Fridays for Lethal Ring but he made a suprise return for Kings of Wrestling. The belief is that Merle will continue to work for both PGHW and Lethal Ring. The question raised by this is how much of a push will Merle get if he can only be used on half of the shows.

World News

Wolf Hawkins and Steve Frehley are both STILL world champions, two pretty long reigns there. Frehleys reign has been very successful helping guide SWF even further ahead of their rivals, TCW however have lost their time slot for Total Wrestling and appear to be in real trouble.

September 2013

Lethal Ring News

With Walter Morgan as Middleweight Champion, Lethal Ring have continued to make steady growth. Their last few shows rated as followed:

Lethal Ring 8- D-

Gladiators- D+

Lethal Ring 9- D

Times of Trouble- D+

Rumours suggest that the company initially planed on having Lethal Ring as the flagship show with the annual events such as Gladiators and Times of Trouble being used to build up the next Lethal Ring. However the opposite seems to have happened most probably because of the availability of Merle O'Curle and Greg Gauge who are both busy on Fridays and so miss Lethal Ring.

Merle in particular has put on some great matches (mostly C-), with results like this is it's likely that creative will easily forget about him leaving them to tour in Japan. Financially the company are also doing well with steady profits.

World News

In America SWF are still at top with Steve Frehley as champion. TCW are still failing quite bad but have taken the belt off Wolf Hawkins and given it to John Anderson. This move has surprised many fans, time will tell if it pays off. Nicky Champion has helped USPW out of their bad fortunes. They now have risen past TCW. So although both are them are at Cult, USPW look more ready to make the jump back up.

November 2013

Lethal Ring News

October and November were both strong months for Lethal Ring and saw the Middleweight Title change hands twice.

At Lethal Ring 10 Walter Morgan was defeated after three title defenses. The fourth Middleweight Champion in Lethal Ring History... Harley Neill. Sources suggest that although Walter's reign was successful, at 39 years old they don't view him as a wise long term investment.

New Champion

However at the very next show, Adrenaline Rush, Merle O'Curle was rewarded for his recent form with a title win. Reports suggest that the plan was always to get the belt to Merle but that the company is saving Morgan vs O'Curle for later down the line.

New Champion

At Lethal Ring 11, Greg Gauge defeated Harley Neill to become the number one contender, he is set to challenge for the belt at Wrestling Spirit. Rumour has it the company are trying to build up this annual event to become a big deal and believe that a showdown between these two could break company records. The company are apparently going all out with this show, even hiring in minor celebrities and local bands to appear. Apparently if this event is a financial success, Lethal Ring will begin to properly bolster it's Lightweight division and possible add a second belt.

Lethal Ring News

Reports coming in suggest that Wrestling Spirit was a complete success. The company are aiming to turn it into their biggest annual show and appear to be well on their way to doing so. The show itself has been rated a C- which is there highest score to date. The main event was also the highest rated match Lethal Ring have ever achieved with many reviews impressed how the company are putting on matches that could rival rival some much bigger promotions.

On the back of the shows financial success several lightweight workers have been brought in, although no names have yet been revealed a tournament is expected to begin soon to crown the first ever Lightweight Champion.

The company has also been considering opening up its very own dojo, it's no surprise that they feel a need to develop some young British talent but questions remain over the financial aspects of it.

Lethal Ring News

After the success of Wrestling Spirit lightweights such as Jase Cole, Cristopher Lister and Petey Barnes were brought in to compete in a tournament to crown the first ever Lightweight Champion. At January's annual event Survival of the Fittest the company gave the belt to the most experienced worker in the division UK Dragon

First Lightweight Champion

The show has been rated a C- but the lightweight match (D+) was out shined by the battle between Middleweights Merle O'Curle and Walter Morgan which received a C+. Apparently the company have so far been disappointing with the performances of the new division as the long term plan is to push them equally.

The February event Clobbering Time continued this trend, the Lightweight title was defended when UK Dragon defeated Jase Cole but the main event was given to Harley Neill's shot at the Middleweight Champion. Once again the Lightweight match has been rated at D+ with the main event scoring a C+. The main event saw a shock win by Harley to become a two time Middleweight Champion. Sources suggest that Lethal Ring are still planning on pushing Merle as the face of the company but wanted to reward Neill for some good recent performance, another reason could be that despite Merle's mega push Neill manages to be even more popular with the British fans.

May 2014

Lethal Ring News

The past three months have seen some impressive shows come out of Lethal Ring who are now consistently selling out The Cobra Den which can hold up to 1000 people.

As expected Harley Neill dropped the title back to Merle O'Curle only one month afer winning it. The match headlined L-Ring's March annual event No Turning Back and received a C+ rating.

3 Time Middleweight Champion

Merle's reign appears to be going as successful as his last, his victory at No Turning Back and his first defense at the May event Wrestling Summit both received C+ ratings. In between those two events was the April annual event named Battle for Respect. This saw the Middleweight champion take on the Lightweight champion in an event which is rumoured to become a Lethal Ring tradition. Merle defeated UK Dragon in a clear sign that the company have more faith with the Middleweight division.

Lethal Ring's monthly show with the same name has now reached it's 18th show. The company has steadily rising from the 42nd biggest promotion to the 32nd and this growth shows no sign of stopping.

August 2014

Lethal Ring News

July was a busy month for the second biggest British promotion. Kings of Wrestling saw Merle O'Curle defend his Middleweight Title against Harley Neill, the match, which was Neill's rematch was rated a C+ and helped push L-Ring to regional size. Using the momentum of the recent rise the company wasted no time in forging new working agreements with two American promotions TCW and CZCW.

August saw a milestone in the company, Lethal Ring 20 received a C rating and was headlined by Merle O'Curle vs Greg Gauge II. The match has been praised by many experts who have rated the match B-, which makes it the highest rated match the company has put on, beating the record that O'Curle vs Gauge I set.

The company seems to be using it's key talent such as O'Curle, Gauge and Neill perfectly, because the Lethal Ring fans care more for the actual performance over the popularity, all it takes is for any wrestler who is competent in the ring to face one of the top guys to produce a fairly good rating. One thing the company is reportedly unhappy with though is the performance of the Lightweight division, there appear to be no wrestlers on the roster other than UK Dragon who can perform consistently well, hopefully the new working agreements will change this as both CZCW and TCW have plenty of talented Lightweights, it may be sometime before we see Wolf Hawkins in Lethal Ring but there are many realistic options that are leaving L-Ring fans drooling.

October 2014

Lethal Ring News

The last two months have seen Lethal Ring shaken up after the working agreements with CZCW and TCW.

Mikey James has been brought in from CZCW to help spark some improvement in the Lightweight division. The company will be pleased that his feud with UK Dragon over the title has resulted in some of the best results the division has seen, it has also helped legitimize Dragon. On the other hand the division has still been out shined by it's Middleweight counterpart with Merle vs Gauge 3 achieving another B- rating. Not only that but at October's annual event Code of Honour, the Middleweight division achieved the highest rating in the promotions history when Merle O'Curle defended his title against none other than TCW's Aaron Andrews. Andrews is believed to have signed on for another four matches.

Reportedly the company is deciding whether to give Andrews a short title reign whilst at L-Ring, on one hand it would add prestige to the belt if it were to be held by such a relatively big name but on the other hand it seems a shame for Merle to drop the belt to someone not on the L-Ring roster.

World News

21st Century Wrestling has continued to pull out decent if not spectacular shows. The promotion remains at Cult level and is the 6th biggest promotion in the world. It's often strange however that the 6th biggest promotion rarely get B ratings whereas Lethal Ring, the 23rd biggest promotion are consistently getting C+ and B-.

In American the tables have turned in the battle for national status. Not long ago TCW looked in real trouble but John Anderson has managed to put on some great matches to help lead them past USPW and into national size. Anderson has defended the belt 11 times and raised the belts prestige to an A*, making it the most prestigious belt in the world.

Despite this, SWF remain in full control of the American scene, John Anderson's 11 defenses is impressive until you remember that Steve Frehley defended the belt 20 times! His reign has only now just come to an end when he finally met his match in Vengeance.

Lethal Ring News

Now L-Ring have added a third show each month they have began to experiment more with some of those shows and there is no better example than their last show Proving Ground. For the first time in Lethal Ring history the show was focused on the Lightweights and featured the quarter final of a tournament to decide who will challenge UK Dragon next week at Wrestling Spirit. The company scouted far and wide to bring in many new names to take part in the competition and rumour has it that after 9 successful defences, Dragon may finally drop the belt next week.

In the tournament itself Gordon Leve, Razor Valentine, Ultra Fly and Red Dragon all qualified for the semi finals which will take place at Wrestling Spirit. The main event saw UK Dragon take on Aaron Andrews who was the only Middleweight at the show. Despite all the new names the show failed to impress many people. Scoring a D, it has been rated the worst Lethal Ring show since August of 2013. News like this does not bode well for the future of the Lightweight division.

December 2014

Lethal Ring News

After the lackluster Proving Ground, Lethal Ring had plenty riding on Wrestling Spirit, especially because they plan on making this event their biggest show of the year.

Rumour had it creative were ready to pull the trigger on a lightweight title switch but changed plans to keep the belt on UK Dragon, who defeated Red Dragon. Whether Red Dragon was the man being built up to finally take the belt is unclear, what is clear however is that the lightweight division has failed to find the success of its middleweight counterpart. This could be down to many things but is probably mostly due to a limited talent pool, the division advertised itself as a platform for innovative, athletic and flashy wrestling but has turned out more like Middleweight-lite.

The main event of Wrestling Spirit saw Merle O'Curle defeat both Greg Gauge and Walter Morgan in a triple threat for the middleweight title. The match has been rated an impressive but unspectacular C+. The show as a whole was rated C-. Whilst this is still a pretty good show for a company of their size it hasn't live up to the high expectations.

The year will end this month with All for One and despite the lackluster final couple of months the year on a whole has seen impressive growth. Hopefully the company can keep up the momentum in 2015 and perhaps begin to expand out of the North of England.

End of 2014

Lethal Ring News

After a disappointing couple of months the year ended on somewhat of a high for the second biggest promotion in the UK. Two new storylines have begun, both centered around the impressively long reigns of Merle O'Curle and UK Dragon. The storyline so far has seen their respective divisions vow to step their game up and dethrone the two long standing champions. Rumour has it creative is yet to decide which wrestlers will come out of this storyline successful but that whomever does impress over the first half of 2015 will have a good chance of taking a belt. Our sources suggest the front runners at the moment to take the Middleweight belt are Greg Gauge and Luke Cool whereas the Lightweight division is very open with names like Ultra Fly, Red Dragon, Peter Barnes and many more all with a chance of being crowned the second ever Lightweight Champion.

Financially L-Ring continue to consistently improve. The promotion has reportedly saved up almost half a million pounds and is now seriously looking into creating a dojo. The company considered this many months ago but decided against it, apparently now the lack of young talent is so clear that this dojo could be crucial for their long term development.

World News

North of the Border Wrestling have dominated most of 2014's end of year awards. Not only are they the Promotion of the Year but Duanne Stone has been crowned Wrestler of the Year. Duanne is also part of the Team of the Year alongside Sean McFly.

Despite their rocky year, TCW also picked up some awards with Bryan Vessey picking up Veteran of the Year and Jay Chord winning Young Wrestler of the Year

SWF on the other hand have struggled in the last few months. Vengeance's title reign has failed to boost the poor ratings that the tail end of Frehley's reign pulled in. The company, which only months ago enjoyed complete dominance of the American scene have now fallen to cult. With SWF, TCW and USPW all at cult level there is a real gap in the market, either for one of those promotions or perhaps an outside competitor such as NOTBW.

January 2015

Lethal Ring News

The year started with some disappointing news for Lethal Ring. Greg Gauge, who has been with the company since its first show has signed a written deal with BHOTWG. L-Ring were already aware that Gauge did not intend on renewing his contract which was set to run out in one years time, apparently Greg felt he had outgrew the company and even the most loyal Lethal Ring fan would be hard pressed to disagree, the son of the legendary Sam Keith has been putting on countless great performances both in L-Ring and on his numerous Japanese tours.

However there are reportedly no hard feelings between the two parties, especially after Greg's last match. Just one night before flying off to Japan Gauge challanged O'Curle for the Middleweight Title. To give some background to this fued it's useful to look at their past matches and to see how important each one was for the company.

http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/christmas_ape/Lethal%20Ring/MerleOCurle_zps3ff2cfb3.jpghttp://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r498/christmas_ape/Lethal%20Ring/GregGauge_zps0cfcb794.jpg

In August 2013, Merle defeated Gauge at Lethal Ring 8, the match received a C- and became the company's highest rated match.

Only two weeks later at Gladiators, Merle again defeated Greg, this match managed to top both the companies match records and show records, scoring a C.

Then at the very first Wrestling Spirit in November 2013, Merle defeated Greg for the third time and the duo once again broke both match and show records.

It wouldn't be until August 2014 that the two would meet again, at L-Ring 20 the two fought for the Middleweight Title. Merle defeated Greg for the fourth time. The match was the companies first ever B- match.

The two would also meet in November, this time in a six man tag team match held in Japan whilst the two were both touring with PGHW. This match would also score a B- and see Greg manage to defeat Merle for the first time, albeit in a tag match.

So it's no wonder that expectation were high for Merle O'Curle vs Greg Gauge V. It was fought at Sweet Pain. The two fought for 30 minutes in an intense Iron Man Match. Greg Gauge scored the first pin and looked on track to become Middleweight Champion on his very last night in Britain. Merle however fought back to win 2-1 and retain his belt against Greg for what many believe will be the last time. Once again, the two broke records for the company, not only has it become the highest rated match in company history but the show has received L-Ring's first ever B- for a show rating.

Greg Gauge has now left Lethal Ring, but his feud with Merle O'Curle will forever be remembered as the rivalry which turned the company from literally the smallest promotion in the world to one of the fastest growing regional promotions.

As one chapter of Lethal Ring's history concludes, it creates the question, what will the next great rivalry be?

May 2015

Lethal Ring News

The departure of Greg Gauge has left a pretty big hole in Lethal Ring's main event scene. 4 months since his departure, the company continue to grow in popularity but are yet to put on a show which received higher than a C rating in 2015. The company has filled in the talent gap using their working agreements with both TCW and CZW. One special trade brought the TCW World Heavyweight Champion, John Anderson to the Lethal Ring but even the champion couldn't pull in the type of ratings that O'Curle vs Gauge brought in.

There are signs that the company have began to read the writing on the wall, with many of their top talent nearing the end of their career a shift in focus towards the younger talent has occurred. This was sparked by the opening of the Lethal Ring Dojo and the signing of the first ever graduate Samuel Phillips. Phillips is currently a rather average in ring competitor and will have a lot of work ahead of him to fit in with the Lethal roster however at the age of 19 there is plenty of time for this to happen.

Merle O'Curle has now defended the Middleweight Title 15 times, and his Lightweight counterpart, UK Dragon, has achieved 16 title defenses. Rumour has it that the creative team have plans for both men to drop the title by the end of the year but at this point there are no obvious contenders.
