Week 4, December, 2001

Live from the Cumberland Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, North Carolina

Attendance: 8.500 (sellout)

As the last edition of WCW Monday Nitro before the biggest event of the year, Starrcade, goes live and on the air we join our announce team of Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes at the announce table.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TonySchiavone3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeTenay3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DustyRhodes.jpg

Tony welcomes everyone to the show and says that with just a few short days to go before Starrcade things are bound to get heated and intense before the night is out. He talks about the huge main event tonight where The Outsiders will face off against Sting and Booker T, as well as the three on one handicap match that Eric Bischoff has set up for Goldberg, and he speculates that Bischoff has made these matches to weaken his enemies here just days before Starrcade. Mike Tenay jumps in and talks about how all of the matches on the show tonight, except for one, is in one way or another a preview of what it is store for everyone Friday night at Starrcade, and Dusty Rhodes says he can't wait for Starrcade, the Granddaddy of them all, to come around and he expects the show tonight to be huge. Eric Bischoff's music then suddely starts playing and seconds later the owner of WCW emerges from the backstage area to the sound of 8.500 people booing him.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpg

Bischoff doesn't seem to care much about that, however, as he just smirks arrogantly as he makes his way down the entrance ramp toward the ring, stopping once or twice along to the way to exchange insults with a few of the fans. Once inside the ring, Bischoff calls for a mic and, naturally, the WCW owner receives one promptly. Bischoff waits for the boos to die down and then he says that, with Starrcade just a few days away now, he could be out here to talk about any number of things, but he is actually just here to talk about one thing; Diamond Dallas Page. But he would rather say what he has to say to DDP's face, so he demands that Diamond Dallas Page comes out here so he can do just that. A few moments pass and a loud "DDP" chant is heard echoing through the arena and then....."Self High Five!"

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DiamondDallasPage.jpg

The crowd cheers loudly as Diamond Dallas Page's music hits and seconds later the man himself walks out onto the stage to even more cheers from the fans in attendance. Eric Bischoff tells the fans to shut the hell up because he has something to say which, of course, prompts the fans to boo the WCW once again. Bischoff says that it is now official that Diamond Dallas Page will NOT be on the Starrcade card, and that DDP has no one to blame for that but himself. Page shoots back that, while there was nothing he wanted more than to be a part of the biggest event of the year, he was not about to sell out to accomplish that goal. DDP says that he has been around WCW long enough to know that no good can come from making any kind of deals with Eric Bischoff. He says that he hates the fact that he won't get to compete at Starrcade, but it the alternative was to get in bed with Bischoff and The Elite...then he has no regrets. Eric Bischoff says that there was someone else who thought that same thing, Lex Luger, and look what happened to him; in a few short days, at Starrcade, he will wrestle his very last match ever because Sean O'Haire is going to end his miserable career. And if DDP isn't careful he could very well be next in line to suffer that same fate. Bischoff says that, as of right now, DDP has found himself in the one place that absolutely do NOT want to be and that is the position of being his enemy. Diamond Dallas Page considers this for a moment and then tells Bischoff and The Elite to bring it because he's still standing! DDP then throws up the Diamond Cutter sign and...... BANG! ©

We cut to a brief video which Tony Schiavone informs us was filmed earlier today which shows the number one contender to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, "The Man" Goldberg, arriving at the arena. Walking alone, Goldberg looks focused and intense as he makes his way through the backstage area in search of his locker room and Tony, Mike and Dusty talk about the huge World Title match between "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner and Goldberg which will take place at Starrcade, and they pretty much all agree that they want Goldberg to win it, but they also admit that defeating the World Champion is a lot easier said than done. We then cut back to ringside for our first match of the night. (B-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DustinRhodesIggy.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BryanClarke.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ShawnStasiak.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeAwesome3.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TedDiBiase.jpg

Our first match of the night was a preview of the WCW Tag Team Championship title match at Starrcade as one half of each team competed in this one fall to a finish matchup. It was a rather chaotic match with the action taking place both in and around the ring. The finish of the match came when Dustin Rhodes and Bryan Clark we alone in the ring and Clark was setting Rhodes up for a huge powerbomb. Rhodes managed to slip out of it, whoever, and he rolled up a surprised Bryan Clark and just barely got the three count and the win.

Dustin Rhodes defeated Bryan Clark, Shawn Stasiak and Mike Awesome at 8.13 by pinfall when Rhodes pinned Clark with a surprise rollup (C-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChuckPalumbo.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BrianAdams2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LanceStorm2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RoadDogg.jpg

The match may be over but the chaos has only just begun as Chuck Palumbo, Brian Adams, Lance Storm and BG James all make their way down to the ring and a huge eight man brawl ensues between the four teams who will compete for the WCW Tag Team Championship at Starrcade. Neither team is getting any kind of clear upper hand, however, and eventually a large number of officials and referee's makes their way down to the ring to break up the fight. As the officials slowly but surely regain control in the ring, Tony Schiavove assures us that it will be on at Starrcade when we finally crowd new Tag Team Champions! (D)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DiamondDallasPage.jpg

In the back, Diamond Dallas Page is seen relaxing in his locker room when he is suddenly joined by....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JeffJarrett.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett and Sean O'Haire, along with a large number of security guards. Diamond Dallas Page asks what's going on and Bischoff informs him that he has decided to have him removed from the building, saying that Diamond Dallas Page has made his bed and now he has to lie in it. He says that he can't have people like him around if he is not going to be a team player because Starrcade is much too important for Bischoff to allow someone like DDP to screw up his plans. He says that, if he were DDP, he would take this opportunity to think long and hard about his future because if he doesn't....then he may very well not have any future in WCW at all. Bischoff then instructs the guards to escort DDP out of the building and he, Jeff Jarrett and Sean O'Haire all watch with amusement as the guards escort Page out of the building and we cut back to ringside. (C+)

The second match of the night saw the veteran "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan taking on the strange and mysterious newcomer, El Mesías. This one was short and brutal, at least for "Hacksaw", as El Mesías completely dominated the match from start to finish, delivering power move after power move before finally putting Duggan down with his Sitout Crucifix Powerbomb finisher for the win.

El Mesías defeated Jim Duggan at 2.45 by pinfall with a Sitout Crucifix Powerbomb (E)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Rick_Steiner11.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Shane_Douglas7.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BamBamBigelow2.jpg

Following El Mesías' impressive victory we cut backstage where the WCW owner, Eric Bischoff, is with Shane Douglas, Rick Steiner and Bam Bam Bigelow. Bischoff informs the trio that he has booked them in a match against Goldberg tonight for one reason and one reason only; for them to make sure that Goldberg is not 100% by the time Starrcade rolls around. Bischoff says that this is an opportunity for the three of them to impress him and get on his good side and that, if they do their jobs right, there will be opportunities for them down the road. Hell, there might even be a spot in The Elite for one of them. He says that he doesn't care about them winning or losing tonight, all that matters is that Goldberg is not at 100% when the night is over. If they do their jobs right they will be rewarded. But if they fail to do their jobs, they'll find that he is just as capable of taking opportunities away as he is of handing them out. With that final message delivered, Bischoff walks away and we cut back to ringside. (D+)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BuffBagwell2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeSanders.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/StacyKieblerHeel.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChrisKanyon4.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DaveyBoySmith.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChavoGuerreroJr.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Vampiro10.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Aries.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DaffneyUnger.jpg

The third match of the night was a three way tag team match featuring the six men who will compete in the United States Championship number one contender Ladder match at Starrcade. Much like the four way match earlier tonight this was a rather chaotic match and the deciding factor ended up being which team was the best at putting aside their differences and working together. Mike Sanders and Buff Bagwell absolutely could not work together and their huge ego's had them at each other's throats more often than not. The very weird Vampiro did not seem at all interested in working with Chavo Guerrero Jr., in spite of Chavo's best attempts to persuade him, and so it was perhaps unsurprising that it was the team of Kanyon and "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith who picked up the win Kanyon hit the Kanyon Cutter on Vampiro while Bagwell and Sanders were arguing with each other outside the ring. Kanyon covered Vampiro and in spite of Daffney's screaming and Aries' attempt to get Chavo back in the ring to break up the pin, Kanyon managed to pick up the win for his team.

Kanyon and Davey Boy Smith defeated Vampiro and Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Mike Sanders and Buff Bagwell at 10.08 by pinfall when Kanyon pinned Vampiro following a Kanyon Cutter (C-)

In the back, Booker T is getting ready for his match later tonight when Sting walks in. The Stinger says that it is an honor to be teaming with Booker T here tonight because, unlike The Elite and The Outsiders who only care about themselves, Booker T actually and genuinely cares about what is best for WCW. Booker T replies that he respects Sting as well and that it's time for them to take care of business here tonight, and Sting says that he hopes that Booker T goes on to win the number one contenders match at Starrcade because nobody deserves a shot at the World Title more than Booker T. Sting then promises Booker that there will come a time when people like him, people who honor and respect the rules, will once again be the stars of the show. He says that he will cleanse the corruption from WCW by any means necessary because that is what must be done if WCW is to not just survive, but to prosper once again. Sting then turns and walks away, leaving Booker T looking somewhat...pensive... in regards to the new dark edge that Sting has been showing in recent weeks. We then cut back to ringside once again. (B-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Shane_Douglas7.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Rick_Steiner11.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BamBamBigelow2.jpg

The fourth match of the night was the handicap match that saw Goldberg taking on no less than three opponents at once. WCW owner Eric Bischoff had decided that there was to be no tags required for Douglas, Steiner and Bam Bam Bigelow, meaning that Goldberg was fighthing all three men at the same time, all the time. Naturally this made things even more difficult for the number one contender, and after a strong initial flurry from Goldberg, the trio slowly but surely took control of the match, using their strength in numbers to constantly get the jump on Goldberg. But no matter what they did they could not keep Goldberg down as he kept kicking out, kept fighting back. But as if the deck wasn't already stacked against Goldberg....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottSteiner.jpg

The WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Scott Steiner, made his way down to the ring with the World Title belt in his hands. Steiner slid into the ring and stalked an unaware Goldberg until....BAM! Scott Steiner just nailed Goldberg in the head with the WCW World Title belt, busting him open! Goldberg goes down in a heap as blood began to pour down his face and Shane Douglas crawled into a cover

Somehow, some way Goldberg kicked out!!! With the crowd going absolutely insane, Goldberg slowly began to stir and get back up to his feet and "Big Poppa Pump" absolutely cannot believe his eyes! Steiner charged at Goldberg, looking blast him with the World Title belt a second time but Goldberg backbody dropped Steiner over the top rope and to the outside. Then, almost in the same movement, Goldberg charged toward Shane Douglas and....SPEAR!!!! Goldberg then covered Douglas and...

The match is over and Goldberg is declared the winner of the match...but Scott Steiner is back in the ring and he attacks Goldberg from behind with a hard shot with the World Title belt to the back of his head and Goldberg goes down again. Wasting no time, Scott Steiner applies the Steiner Recliner and puts as much pressure on the hold as he possibly can and Goldberg is screaming in pain as blood continues to pour down his face. The referee is pleading with Steiner to release the hold, but Steiner just ignores him and keeps punishing Goldberg. After several long, excruciating moments, Steiner finally releases the hold and Goldberg looks to be almost unconscious. Steiner then hoists the WCW World Heavyweight Championship title belt high above his head, screaming that the title belongs with him. Steiner then kicks Goldberg a couple of times for good measure before finally leaving the ring, allowing the medics to check on the still bleeding Goldberg. (B-)

As the medics are attending to Goldberg in the ring a hype graphic pops up on screen, reminding everyone of the huge main event that is coming up next as Sting and Booker T teams up to take on The Outsiders, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Tony Schiavone informs us that that match is coming up next! (B-)

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottHall2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Sting24.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BookerT.jpg

The huge main event of the evening saw four of the biggest stars in the company face off against each other and the match did not disappoint. The Outsiders had a clear advantage in terms of their experience teaming with each other, but Booker T and Sting worked together effortlessly to nicely counter The Outsiders' experience advantage. The match went back and forth and was everything that you both expected and hoped for as all four men looked strong in this one. Unfortunately, but not altogether unepectedly, the match did eventually break down into outright chaos as....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RicFlair2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JeffJarrett.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett and Sean O'Haire all made their way down to the ring. Ric Flair and Sting locked up outside the ring, giving the fans an early preview of Starrcade where they will go one on one. Jeff Jarrett and Sean O'Haire targeted Kevin Nash, looking to soften him up before the World Title number one contender match at Starrcade. Surprisingly the referee didn't call for a DQ--most likely because he had been instructed by Eric Bischoff not to do so--and Scott Hall had used this chaos to grab a steel chair outside the ring and was now stalking Booker T...but then....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ReyMysterioMask.jpg

Rey Misterio Jr. made his way down to the ring and Tony Schiavone reminded everyone of the beating that Misterio took at the hands of The Outsiders, and especially Scott Hall, last week on Monday Nitro, and Mike Tenay and Dusty Rhodes were both surprised that Rey was even able to be here tonight following that beating. Rey Misterio Jr. managed to get to the ring just in time to prevent Hall from using the steel chair on Booker T by grabbing the from behind Hall and pulling it out of his hands. Surprised, Hall turned around to see Rey Misterio standing there and Hall looked pissed! Rey slid out of the ring again and Hall walked over to the ropes, pointed to Rey and told him that he just made the biggest mistake of his life. A clearly frustrated Scott Hall then turned around and walked right into a....BOOKEND! Booker T got all of that and he immediately covered Hall...

Booker T and Sting defeated The Outsiders at 13.09 by pinfall when Booker T pinned Scott Hall following a Bookend (B)

With Booker T standing tall in the ring as the winner of the match, there is still fighthing going on all around the ring as things have broken down into all out chaos. But then, with literally just seconds left of the broadcast.....

The crowd goes absolutely insane, but Tony Schiavone informs that, unfortunately, we are out time! Don't forget to tune in this Friday night for WCW Starrcade 2001!

Starrcade Surprises?

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/WCWStarrcade99.jpg

It is no secret that WCW is looking to go all out in order to ensure that Starrcade is the big success that the company needs it's biggest, most historic pay per view to be, and rumor has it that at least two new wrestlers are set to debut during the big event. According to our sources both wrestlers are said to be "big names" and both wrestlers are also said to have signed on with WCW for more than just an appearance at Starrcade. Who will it be and what impact will they have on the big event? You'll have to tune in to find out.

"Hacksaw" Causing Problems?

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JimDuggan2.jpg

Ever since WCW's return from hiatus, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan has been losing match after match on Nitro, and on the most recent edition of Monday Nitro, Duggan was squashed in a quick match by the newcomer, El Mesías. The rumor going around is that management feels that "Hacksaw" has reached the end of his usefulness and that they intended for his match against El Mesías to be his last in WCW. Supposedly the plan was to send Duggan to the WCW Power Plant where he was to serve as a trainer for the young talent there for the remainder of his contract, but apparently Duggan has refused this on the grounds that he didn't feel that he had anything to offer as a trainer. The word going around is that management is far from happy with Duggan, but that they have decided to respect his wishes by not sending him to the Power Plant for the time being.

Women's Wrestling in WCW?

There is a rumor going around that WCW management has been talking about creating a Women's division and a Women's Championship in WCW. With the popularity of women's wrestling seemingly on the rise, the feeling is that WCW management wants to get in on the "ground floor" and they have already begun signing several talented young women to development contracts with the WCW Power Plant. While a potential women's division isn't expected to happen right away, word is that talks about such a division has going on ever since WCW returned from hiatus, and at this point it is expected to be a matter of when it happens and not if it happens.

HOW COULD YOU CUT THE SHOW OFF THERE!!!!!!!! :o

Blimey, that was a good show... I was actually thinking you're sort of missing a new name really, so hopefully Starrcade delivers on that front. I was never a massive fan of WCW, and I never really rated the likes of Stiener, Nash, Hall and Jarrett as top level talent. Sting, Goldberg and Booker T aside, there seems to be a gap for a big name... Hopefully someone like HBK!!! :D

Looking forward to the Starrcade preview, and looking forward to see what you do with your new possible Womens Division. I think you could have a very successful one!

Storm faces a long night at Starrcade, competing not just once but twice during the event, and while Hugh Morrus certainly got this opportunity somewhat out of left field, it would still be a big mistake for anyone to count him out. Lance Storm has dominated the US Title division since winning the title more than six months ago and he has to be considered the odds on favorite to win this one, but Hugh Morrus has proved himself time and time again as a tough competitor and he will be looking to make the most of this huge opportunity.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/WCWCW.jpg

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChavoGuerreroJr.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ShaneHelms.jpg

This one has a bit more of a build to it than the US Title match as the challenger, Shane Helms, has been on the wrong side of bad luck and circumstance two times in a row when challenging for the Cruiserweight Championship. Helms was caught off guard by Chavo Guerrero Jr. during the chaos at Mayhem when Scott Hall ended up getting into a psychical confrontation with the then Cruiserweight Champion Rey Misterio Jr., and Chavo Guerrero Jr. ended up walking out with the Cruiserweight Championship. Two weeks later on Monday Nitro, Shane Helms received a one on one rematch against Chavo Guerrero Jr., who would cheat in order to beat Helms who, for the second time in a row, lost his opportunity to become Cruiserweight Champion through no fault of his own. At Starrcade, Shane Helms will receive his third, and presumably final, shot at the Cruiserweight Championship when the challenges Chavo Guerrero Jr. Will Shane Helms finally recapture the Cruiserweight Title that has been eluding him? Or will the crafty Chavo Guerrero Jr. once again find a way to come out ahead?

WCW United States Championship Number One Contender Ladder Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BuffBagwell2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Vampiro10.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChavoGuerreroJr.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChrisKanyon4.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DaveyBoySmith.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeSanders.jpg

Six men. And a huge match like this, at the biggest event of the year, is a great place to do exactly that. The question is; who will the one to pull it off? The always cocky and arrogant Buf "Buff Daddy" Bagwell? The equally cocky and arrogant Mike Sanders? Will it be the strange Vampiro? The, at times, unpredictable Kanyon? The veteran Davey Boy Smith? A tournament was set up featuring eight teams. Those teams were drawn against each other in four qualifying matches and the winners of those matches advanced to the Tag Team Championship title elimination match at Starrcade. But who will be the last team standing? KroniK is by far the most experienced team in this match and experience could be a major deciding factor in a match like this one. Their rough and tough in-ring style should also serve them well in this one. The Impact Players, Lance Storm and Mike Awesome, have been on a roll ever since WCW returned from hiatus, winning the majority of their matches. The team brings a great mix of technical wrestling and power and strength, and with Ted DiBiase as their manager this is a team that one should never count out. Perfect Event, Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak, is by far the least experienced team in this one, but what they lack in experience they make up for in youth, hunger and determination. They are the dark horse in this match to be sure, but a dangerous one at that. Sons of the South, Dustin Rhodes and BG James, are no doubt the crowd favorites in this one, and they have already shown signs of having the potential to become a great tag team in WCW. They possess the unique combination of having both youth and experience at the same time, and with the support of the fans to help them along, this team will be one to watch--both in this match and in the years to come.

Unsanctioned Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LexLuger5.jpg

A match with absolutely no rules, and a match which Eric Bischoff has declared to be Lex Luger's last match--not just in WCW, but his last match ever due to the damage that Sean O'Haire will inflict upon him. It is also the culmination of a feud between Lex Luger and Eric Bischoff that began when "The Total Package" turned on the nWo back at Souled Out by refusing to attack Sting with a steel chair, and Bischoff has been determined to make Luger pay for that ever since. Sean O'Haire entered the picture when he, while wearing a mask, surprisingly appeared during Lex Luger's World Heavyweight Championship match against "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner on Monday Nitro, costing Luger the match, the World Title and his career in WCW in one fell swoop. Will Lex Luger win his last match ever in WCW and finally stick it to Eric Bischoff and The Elite once and for all? Or will Eric Bischoff's prediction about Sean O'Haire ending Luger's in-ring career forever at Starrcade come true?

Grudge Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottHall2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ReyMysterioMask.jpg

One word pretty much sums up what this feud has been all about so far; respect. It all began one month ago during the Cruiserweight Championship title match at Mayhem when Scott Hall decided that he wanted to cut a promo in the ring...while the match was still going on. Angered by the complete lack of respect shown by Scott Hall, Rey Misterio Jr., who was the Cruiserweight Champion at the time, confronted Hall in the ring. Things would eventually get psychical and Rey Misterio Jr. ended up throwing Hall out of the ring, allowing the Cruiserweght Title match to continue. But Scott Hall was far from done disrespecting Rey Misterio Jr, attacking Rey and preventing him from getting into the ring to break up Chavo Guerrero Jr.'s pinfall attempt, costing Misterio the Cruiserweight Championship. Scott Hall has continued to taunt and disrespect Rey Misterio Jr. every chance he gets, even going so far as to outright attack Rey Misterio on two seperate occasions. But in spite of all of this Rey Misterio Jr. refuses to back down and he is hellbent on forcing Scott Hall to respect him. Will Rey Misterio Jr. shock the world by defeating Scott Hall and Starrcade? Or will Scott Hall once again get the last laugh of the night?

Grudge Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RicFlair2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Sting24.jpg

Ever since returning to WCW the night after Mayhem, Sting has been on a mission to "cleanse the corruption from WCW once and for all", and Sting immediately put all of his focus and attention on one man; "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Sting believes that Ric Flair is a prime example of the corruption that he believes has been allowed to run wild through WCW, and he says that he lost all respect for Ric Flair when he joined with Eric Bischoff and The Elite. Sting has repeatedly vowed that he will do whatever it takes to ensure WCW's future success, even if it means getting rid of a man he once respected more than anyone else in the business. Ric Flair, on the other hand, was absolutely outraged by what he perceived as a lack of respect from Sting, claiming that if it wasn't for him carrying the company on his back all of those years, WCW would never have gotten to the level it did. Will Sting's mission to cleanse the corruption from WCW continue at Starrcade? Eric Bischoff's Elite has sought to dominate WCW ever since their creation following the split of the nWo when Kevin Nash and Scott Hall went their own way, and they have been largely successful with Scott Steiner holding the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Booker T and Kevin Nash have both been on impressive runs since WCW's return, winning the vast majority of their matches, and they now both get a well deserved opportunity to earn themselves a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. But The Elite will have a strong presence in this match as well as Eric Bischoff decided to add "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett to the mix to represent The Elite and ensure that neither Kevin Nash nor Booker T will get the shot at the WCW World Title that they both are so determined to get. Will Jeff Jarrett succeed in the task he has been assigned by Eric Bischoff? Or will Booker T earn himself a chance to reclaim the World Title that the current champion, Scott Steiner, took from him under questionable circumstances months ago? That is a pretty good way to describe the World Title main event as Scott Steiner defends the title against Goldberg. Both men have been nothing short of outstanding ever since WCW's return from hiatus. Scott Steiner is the reigning WCW World Heavyweight Champion, having had successful title defenses against Booker T, Lex Luger and Sting. He has an impressive match record of 20 and 3, and he has only been pinned once, by Sting. The challenger, Goldberg, is undefeated since WCW's return with an amazing 19-0 match record. But something's got to give in this one. One man will win, one man will lose. Will "Big Poppa Pump"' be the first man to defeat Goldberg in the new era of WCW and continue his reign as WCW World Heavyweight Champion? Or will Goldberg continue his winning streak by defeating Scott Steiner and capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Championship?

Just a brief update on Starrcade. The show is coming along nicely (by far the most I've written for a single show so far) and I'm expecting to finish it up during weekend so expect Starrcade to be up during the weekend or on Monday at the latest. I'll post an officialy 24 hour warning when I know for sure when the show is going up.

Also, I'm planning to give out a couple of bonus prizes for this show, since it's Starrcade and all, so be sure to get your predictions in if you want to play.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

"Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner © vs. "Daa Man" Goldberg

Goldberg needs to get the big win here. I hope Steiner takes time off after Starrcade so he isn't forced into a meaningless midcard feud with someone after being a built up as a credible main eventer for the last few months.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contender Match

Booker T vs. "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash vs. "The Chosen One" Jeff Jarrett

I assume Nash refuses to lose cleanly in this if he does have creative control, so I expect Jarrett to pin Booker.

Grudge Match

Sting vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair

Sting needs a win.

Grudge Match

Rey Misterio Jr. vs. Scott Hall

I can see Rey getting an upset win over Hall, but I also assume Hall has creative control and wouldn't lose to someone like Rey Mysterio clean.

Unsanctioned Match

"The Total Package" Lex Luger vs. "The Future" Sean O'Haire

He's been getting a pretty decent push, while you seemed to be phasing out Luger, a surprise win by O'Haire only helps him move up the card to at least being a upper-midcard threat.

WCW Tag Team Championship Four Way Elimination Match

The Impact Players (Lance Storm and Mike Awesome) vs. Sons Of The South (BG James and Dustin Rhodes) vs. KroniK vs. Perfect Event (Chuck Palumbo and Shawn Stasiak)

I don't know about you but the "greatest" WCW team of All-Time, Mike Enos and Wayne Bloom aren't in this match. If they were you could surely bet they'd walkout of this stacked match with the tag titles.

Grudge Match

WCW United States Championship Number One Contender Ladder Match

Vampiro vs. Kanyon vs. Mike Sanders vs. "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. vs. Buff Bagwell

You're giving him a decent push already, might aswell continue it. Davey Boy could even unofficially rename it the "European Championship" if he won the belt.

WCW United States Championship

Lance Storm © vs. Hugh Morrus

Storm's been awesome.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

Chavo Guerrero Jr. © vs. Shane Helms

Could go either way.

The Cruiserweight Championship Number One Contender Battle Royal saw both Shannon Moore and Evan Karagias make their returns to the WCW main roster, as well as the debut of one Yoshihiro Tajiri, but the biggest surprise in this one was the debut/return of the great Jushin Thunder Liger. The action in this one was fast paced and the newcomer Yoshihiro Tajiri quickly proved himself to be absolutely lethal inside the ring, eliminating both Norman Smiley and Disco Inferno within the first minute of the match. Air Paris was the next to go as he was eliminated by both members of the Jung Dragons who then, in turn, were eliminated by Billy Kidman and Marty Jannetty. Jushin Thunder Liger then eliminated Crowbar, while Air Styles eliminated Evan Karagias. Yoshihiro Tajiri continued to look impressive, eliminating Shannon Moore and Alex Wright, and Marty Jannetty eliminated Jamie Knoble, only to be eliminated himself by Jushin Thunder Liger. That brought us down to a final four of Jushin Thunder Liger, Billy Kidman, Yoshihiro Tajiri and Air Styles. Styles was then eliminated by Yoshihiro Tajiri, and then there was three. Billy Kidman then managed to eliminate Yoshihiro Tajiri, putting an end to an otherwise very impressive debut and bringing us down to just two. Kidman and Liger went back and forth, both men coming close to eliminating the other, but in the end it would be Billy Kidman who just barely managed to eliminate Jushin Thunder Liger and securing the hard fought victory and a future shot at the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

Billy Kidman won a 15 man battle royal at 11.08 when he was the last man standing. Tony says that they have a huge show in store for everyone tonight as the biggest event in professional wrestling is back, and he cannot wait to get things under way. Mike Tenay then chimes in, saying that six months ago most people never thought they would ever see another WCW event, much less another Starrcade, yet here we are and this show will more than live up to the illustrious reputation that Starrcade has built up over the years. Dusty Rhodes adds that literally every single match tonight has huge implications for the present and the future of WCW, and that by the end of the night, when all is said and done, the entire landscape of World Championship Wrestling as we know it could very well be changed forever. Tony agrees with Dusty, saying that there is just so much on the line tonight; titles, careers, respect, honor, opportunity....everything is on the line and it is all coming to you right now! After an impressive series of power moves, Morrus hit a powerslam and, with Storm down on the mat, Hugh Morrus climbed to the top rope, looking to hit a top rope moonsault and put the champion away before he could even mount any offense. But as Morrus got to the top rope he was suddenly distracted by Ted DiBiase at ringside. The two briefly exchanged words and Morrus then went to hit the moonsault, but the momentary distraction was all Storm needed to roll out of the way. The US Champion was now in firm control of the match, using his usual mix of technical wrestling and submission moves to wear the challenger down, with Ted DiBiase cheering his man on approvingly at ringside. Hugh Morrus would eventually battle back into it, and just as it looked like Morrus was in firm control of the match once again, Lance Storm pulled out a roll-through from out of nowhere as Morrus bounced off the ropes, and before Morrus even knew what was going on, the champion had the Canadian Maple Leaf locked in tight. Morrus struggled against it for a while, but in the end he was forced to tap out like so many others before him.

Lance Storm defeated Hugh Morrus at 10.17 by submission with the Canadian Maple Leaf. Dusty seems more concerned, however, saying that he doesn't like the look in Hugh Morrus' eyes, claiming that it is the look of a broken man. Tony and Mike argue that Morrus is just disappointed, and rightfully so, but Dusty seems to think that it goes a lot deeper than that. Tony then says that WCW's new backstage interviewer is standing by in the back with one of the three men who will compete for a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship later tonight, "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JoeyStyles2000.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/KevinNash2002.jpg

As we cut to the back we see that WCW's new interviewer is none other than the former voice of ECW, Joey Styles. Styles is standing by with "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash, who has a look on his face that is all business here tonight. Joey asks Nash about his thoughts on his match later tonight against Booker T and Jeff Jarrett, and Nash says that it's real simple; he's gonna go out there, kick some ass, win the match and earn himself a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Then he's gonna go on to face whoever the champion is after tonight, Scott Steiner or Goldberg, and he's gonna kick their ass too and win his sixth WCW World Championship. Joey asks Nash about his competition, but Nash brushes off the question by saying that he is the biggest, the toughest and the baddest man in this match and he's not gonna let anything stand in his way, Booker and Jarrett included. Joey thanks Nash for his time and we then cut back to ringside as the second match of the night is about to get under way. (C+)

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/WCWCW.jpg

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChavoGuerreroJr.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ShaneHelms.jpg

The second match of the night was also the second title match of the night as Chavo Guerrero Jr. defended his Cruiserweight Championship against Shane Helms. Much like Hugh Morrus in the previous match, Shane Helms came out on fire for this one, determined to not become a victim of circumstance for the third time in a row when competing for the Cruiserweight Championship. This one went back and forth throughout the match, with both men pulling off some impressive counter moves to constantly keep their opponent guessing. Both men scored several near-falls during the match, and it truly seemed as though the match could end at any moment, and that both men were more than capable of winning it. The biggest surprise in this match came at the very end of the when Chavo Guerrero Jr. had Shane Helms locked in the Gory Special, but Helms refused to submit so Chavo, in a moment of brilliance, turned the Gory Special submission move into a Gory Bomb, planting Helms and picking up the three count and the win. The surprise? Chavo Guerrero Jr. won a match WITHOUT cheating.

Chavo Guerrero Jr. defeated Shane Helms at 8.07 by pinfall with a Gory Bomb. Mike Tenay in particular praises the champion, Chavo Guerrero Jr., on the simple-yet-genius way he turned the Gory Special submission maneuver into a Gory Bomb, no doubt catching the challenger completely off guard. Tony then says that the Unsanctioned Match between "The Total Package" Lex Luger and The Elite's Sean O'Haire is coming up next, and there is a strong hint of sadness in his voice as he reminds everyone that, no matter who wins tonight, this will be Lex Luger's final match ever in WCW. A video then starts playing, highlighting the key events that has led us to this match here tonight.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LexLuger5.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

The video starts off with footage from Souled Out when Lex Luger turned on the nWo by refusing to attack Sting with a steel chair. It transitions into shots of Eric Bischoff announcing the birth of The Elite, and the weeks and months of punishment and brutal attacks that followed as Bischoff did everything he possibly could do to make Luger pay for turning his back on him. Then we get footage of Luger's one on one World Heavyweight Championship title match against "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner, the match in which Luger would either win the World Championship, or his WCW contract would be voided. We see shots of a masked man suddenly making his way down to the ring, getting involved in the match and screwing Luger out of the match, the World Title and his career in WCW. Then we see the footage of the masked man unmasking himself to reveal that he was, in fact, Sean O'Haire. From there we go to footage from Mayhem where Luger was in attendance among the crowd, and would eventually involve himself in the man event, helping to ensure a fair fight for Booker T and Goldberg, who would go on to win the match. The video comes to an end with footage of Eric Bischoff "offering" Luger the Unsanctioned Match at Starrcade, with the deal being that Bischoff would not press charges against Luger for his actions at Mayhem IF he accepted the match, and Eric Bischoff's voice is heard saying that Sean O'Haire will not only end Luger's career in WCW, but he will end his career PERIOD because after what O'Haire does to Luger at Starrcade, he will never be able to wrestle again. ©

Unsanctioned Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LexLuger5.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

Lex Luger received a great reaction from the sell-out crowd as he made his way to the ring for his last match ever in WCW, and he was more than ready to fight as he attacked Sean O'Haire as soon as he entered the ring. Luger pummeled O'Haire for a bit and then threw him over the top rope. Luger followed after, grabbing a steel chair and slamming it across O'Haire's back while the announcers reminded everyone that since this was an Unsanctioned match, there literally were no rules for the referee to enforce. Luger used the chair a few more times on O'Haire and continued to dominate the early parts of this one, but Sean O'Haire would eventually fight his way back to it, proving why Eric Bischoff has dubbed him "The Future". It was far from a pretty much as both men were looking to do as much damage as possible with everything they did and so both men did a lot of power moves. The finish of this intense, hard-hitting matchup came when "The Total Package" managed to get Sean O'Haire up in the Torture Rack....but Sean O'Haire refused to submit! Luger continued applying more and more pressure, looking almost like he was going to break O'Haire in half, but still O'Haire did not submit. O'Haire eventually managed to fight his way out of the Rack and he tossed Luger out of the ring, followed him out as fast as his aching body would let him, and delivered a brutal looking piledriver to Luger on the floor, much to the shock of both the fans and the announcers. O'Haire then rolled a limp Luger back into the ring and positioned him in the middle of the ring before heading up to the top rope. The crowd gives Luger a standing ovation and the announcers talk Luger and his accomplishments up, saying that it is a damn shame that WCW is losing a great talent like Luger all because of Eric Bischoff's out of control ego. Luger then leaves the ring and slowly makes his way toward the back, slapping hands with several fans along he way. Tony Schiavone then suddenly cuts in and says that he has just received word that something is going on in the back....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpg

In the back, the number one contender to the WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Goldberg, is down on the floor. Several medics are attending to him as, apparently, Goldberg was jumped from behind by someone just moments ago. Someone is heard asking Goldberg who attacked him, and Goldberg says that he didn't see who it was, but when he finds out who did it that person is going to be next! Tony, Mike and Dusty speculate as to who could have attacked Goldberg, and all them quickly agree that Eric Bischoff and The Elite must have had something to do with it, with Dusty Rhodes saying that this is exactly the kind of thing Eric Bischoff would do to weaken Goldberg up before his World Title match against Scott Steiner later tonight. (B-)

WCW Tag Team Championship

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/WCWWorldTag.jpg

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RoadDogg.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DustinRhodesIggy.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BryanClarke.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BrianAdams2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ShawnStasiak.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChuckPalumbo.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/LanceStorm2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeAwesome3.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TedDiBiase.jpg

Back in the ring it was time to crown new WCW Tag Team Champions as Sons of the South, KroniK, Perfect Event and The Impact Players did battle in this four team elimination match. With all eight men in the ring at one time, this one started out with utter chaos as bodies were flying everywhere. The chaos continued for most of the match, but the first elimination came when Mike Awesome hit the Awesome Bomb on Shawn Stasiak and covered him. BG James had every opportunity to break up the pin, but no reason to do so, and since Chuck Palumbo was pre-occupied with Brian Adams outside the ring, Mike Awesome pinned Shawn Stasiak and eliminated Perfect Event from the match around the four minute mark.

The second elimination came around the 7 minute mark when both members of KroniK were alone in the ring with Dustin Rhodes, while The Impact Players were double teaming BG James outside the ring. Then he ducked a Bryan Clark clothesline, quickly rolled him up from behind and just barely scored a pinfall, eliminating KroniK from the match.

Unhappy with this, KroniK grabbed Dustin Rhodes and hit their High Times double chokeslam finisher on him before they left the ring, putting the Sons of the South at a serious disadvantage and handing The Impact Players one hell of an opportunity to win the match. The Impact Players did their best to capitalize, but Rhodes and BG James refused to stay down and they kept fighting back. But then, just as it looked as though BG James was close to completing an impressive comeback, Storm dodged a charging BG James and as BG turned back around he was rocked by a perfectly placed Superkick to his jaw. Jarrett says that what Nash and Booker T doesn't understand is that he is better than them. There is a reason why he is in The Elite and they aren't, and tonight he is going to show them exactly what that reason is. So choke on that, slapnuts! Joey then turns to Eric Bischoff and asks him about the attack on Goldberg earlier tonight and whether there is any word on who was behind it, and Bischoff seems to be completely surprised by this question, saying that he didn't even know Goldberg had been attacked. Joey asks if Goldberg will be well enough to compete tonight, but Bischoff just repeats that this is the first he has heard of the attack so he doesn't know anything about it. Joey doesn't seem entirely convinced, but it is all he is getting as Bischoff and Jarrett walks off and we cut back to ringside ©

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottHall2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ReyMysterioMask.jpg

The crowd was firmly behind Rey Misterio Jr. in this one, even more so when after Scott Hall threw his trademark toothpick in Rey's face at the beginning of the match, continuing to disrespect him. The match kicked off with Rey Misterio unleashing an impressive flurry of lightning quick moves on Hall, staggering the bigger man and keeping him off balance, but Hall would eventually manage to slow the pace of the match down and take control of it. The next several minutes saw Hall in complete control, so much so that he quickly became overconfident, taunting Rey Misterio, slapping the back of his head--the usual Scott Hall antics. But Rey proved resilient, and while Hall got several near-falls, Rey kepts kicking out, kept surviving, much to Scott Hall's growing frustration. Hall's frustration at his inability to put Misterio away eventually led to the veteran making some unusual, uncharacteristic mistakes which Rey Misterio Jr. was quick to capitalize on and fight his way back into the match. The next several minutes was a back and forth affair, with Hall still in the drivers seat more often than not, but with Misterio constantly surpising him and even picking up a couple of near-falls with out of the blue rollup pin attempts. The finish to this one finally came when Scott Hall got Rey up into position for the Outsiders Edge....but Rey slipped out the back, quickly bounced off the ropes and dropkicked Hall in the back, propelling him forward and he accidentally ran into the referee who went down. Rey signalled to the crowd that the end was near, but as he did so Scott Hall reached into his trunks, pulled something out and put it on his right hand. Rey bounced off the ropes again and ran right at Hall, who turned around just in time to clock Rey Misterio in the head with a right handed punch--but what was that on his hand?...brass knucks! The crowd booed loudly as Hall got rid of the evidence and then, just as the referee got back to his feet, Hall picked Rey up and delivered an Outsiders Edge which was enough for the three count and the win.

Scott Hall defeated Rey Misterio Jr. at 14.46 by pinfall with an Outsiders Edge after using a pair of brass knucks behind the referee's back (C+)

The match is over and Scott Hall is the official winner, but neither the fans nor our announcers are happy about it.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TonySchiavone3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeTenay3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DustyRhodes.jpg

As we cut to the announce booth Tony Schiavone is talking about how wrong it is for Scott Hall to steal a win here tonight at the biggest show of the year. Mike Tenay says that Rey Misterio Jr. has every reason to be proud of his performance here tonight and that, yes, Rey definitely deserve to win it, especially after seeing what Scott Hall did to win. Dusty Rhodes adds that Scott Hall only cares about himself and that he will do whatever it takes to win, even if that means cheating to steal a win at the biggest event in professional wrestling. Joey asks Steiner about his thoughts on facing Goldberg tonight, Goldberg's new streak and his chances of retaining the title here tonight. Steiner, who is proudly displaying the World Title belt across his shoulder, says that Goldberg is nothing but a punk ass bitch who will be begging for mercy before the night is out. Steiner says that there is a reason he's the World Champion, and it's that he is better than everyone else. He's "Big Poppa Pump", "Freakzilla", "The Genetic Freak", and there is no one in this company who can beat him. Booker T couldn't do it. Lex Luger couldn't do it. Sting couldn't do it. Diamond Dallas Page couldn't do it. And tonight...Goldberg can't do it. Joey asks Steiner about the attack on Goldberg earlier tonight, but that just seems to piss the World Champion off as he grabs Joey by the collar of his shirt and screams at him that he doesn't need anyone's help to defeat Goldberg here tonight, and that Joey should be careful not to throw accusations like that around because Steiner will make him his bitch! The World Champion then walks off, bringing the interview to an abrupt end. (C+)

US Title Number One Contender Ladder Match

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeSanders.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/StacyKieblerHeel.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BamBamBigelow2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Vampiro10.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Aries.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DaffneyUnger.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BuffBagwell2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChrisKanyon4.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DaveyBoySmith.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ChavoGuerreroJr.jpg

This one started off with action both in and out of the ring. As the six men involved in the match got things going inside the ring a heated argument quickly began outside the ring between Stacy Keibler and Daffney as both women apparently resented the other's presence at ringside. Bam Bam Bigelow then stepped in front of Stacy and stared at Daffney, and that was when Aries suddenly lunged himself at Bigelow and all hell broke loose as Daffney tacked Stacy as well. This brought a bunch of referee's down to the ring and they escorted them all to the back, and everyone could finally turn all of their focus on the action in the ring. This was a very even match and everyone had their moments to shine during this one, and everyone had their hand on the US Title match contract that hung high above the ring at least once. The finish to this one came after an exciting sequence where Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Buff Bagwell first seemingly took each other out of contention as the two met each other at the top of the ladder and exchanged punches until they both fell and landed hard on the floor of the ring. "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith then began to climb the ladder, but as he neared the top Mike Sanders began climbing the other side of the ladder and then it was their turn to exchange punches at the top of the ladder. The Bulldog won the slugfest and shoved Sanders off the ladder and the crowd roared with excitement as the veteran reached for the US Title shot contract....only to have Vampiro kick the ladder out from under him, sending Davey Boy falling all the way down and landing hard on the mat. With the crowd booing loudly, Vampiro repositioned the ladder underneath the US Title shot contract and began climbing it....but then Kanyon slowly began climbing the other side of the ladder, much to the crowd's delight. Vampiro tried repeatedly to kick Kanyon off the ladder, but Kanyon took the blows and kept on climbing anyway. With both men visibly exhausted from the grueling match, the two began trading haymakers at the top of the ladder, both men teetering precariously with every blow. This continued for several seconds until the single most crazy moment of the entire match took place as Kanyon suddenly grabbed Vampiro and.....KANYON CUTTER OFF THE TOP OF THE LADDER!!!! The crowd absolutely could not believe what they had just witnessed, but their excitement at the incredible moment quickly turned into boos as Chavo Guerrero Jr. was back in the ring and was slowly climbing the ladder. Tony Schiavone commented that Chavo is going to steal a win here, but before Chavo can get even halfway up the ladder Kanyon was somehow back to his feet and he grabbed Chavo, pulled him off the ladder and.....KANYON CUTTER! Kanyon then climbed the ladder as Mike Sanders and Davey Boy Smith slowly began to stir back to life...but it was too late! Finally Dusty Rhodes adds that it was obvious to him that all six men wanted to win this one badly and they put it all on the line, but unfortunately for everyone who wasn't Kanyon, there could only be one winner. The chance to become the new number one contender at the biggest event of the year is truly special to him, and he's gonna do everything he can to make sure that he is successful tonight. Booker says that he is not just fighting for himself tonight--he's fighting for everyone in the locker room, and for all of the fans, who are sick and tired of watching Eric Bischoff stacking the deck in his favor, or of watching Kevin Nash plot and scheme to get the things he wants. Dusty says you have to respect a man like that, and he hopes that Booker will be victorious here tonight. The finish to this one almost came after Booker T caught Kevin Nash with the Bookend, and only a last minute save by Jeff Jarrett kept the match from ending right then and there. Kevin Nash just blasted Booker T over the head with Jeff Jarrett's guitar! With Booker T down and seemingly unconscious, or at least close to it, Nash went to cover him but changed his mind when he saw Jeff Jarrett moving toward him. Tony says that even though he knows that there are no disqualifications in a three way match, he still doesn't think that Nash should have done what he did. Mike Tenay agrees, but says that Kevin Nash has never been known to play by the rules, so why wouldn't he use the guitar when it wasn't even illegal? Dusty rounds things off by saying that since Nash didn't technically break the rules it is hard to blame him for his actions, and Jeff Jarrett certainly would have done the same if he'd had the opportunity. Tony says that that match is, of course, still to come later tonight, but up next is the match between Sting and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Mike Tenay chimes in and says that this match is a deeply personal one between two men who, at one point, probably respected each other more than they respected anyone else in this business, but all of that changed the night where Ric Flair chose to join Eric Bischoff and The Elite. Dusty adds that Sting has outright said that he lost all respect for Ric Flair when he joined The Elite, and Tony continues by saying that Sting even went as far as to say that Ric Flair was a perfect example of everything that was wrong with WCW today--something that "The Nature Boy" did not respond well to at all. Once in the ring, Flair posed for the crowd, demanding their praise and respect but he got nothing but boos for his efforts, which only seemed to infuriate "The Nature Boy". Flair eventually took off his robe and handed it to a staff member at ringside, but not without first warning the staff member about what would happen if he did not take proper care of "The Nature Boy"'s robe. Sting walked to the ring at a steady pace, keeping his eyes locked firmly on Flair in the ring while Mike Tenay commented that, with the mission Sting has been on since returning to the company, it is almost as if he has become the conscience of WCW. Sting entered the ring, and Ric Flair immediately left it, standing outside the ring and looking up at Sting as he rather menacingly pointed at Flair with his trusty black baseball bat.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RicFlair2.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/Sting24.jpg

Once Ric Flair had reluctantly gotten back into the ring, the bell finally sounded and the match officially got under way with Sting dominating the early goings. For a moment or two it looked as though Sting was going to make quick work of "The Nature Boy", but a well-placed thumb in Sting's eye got "the dirtiest player in the game" back into the match and from that point on this one was as tightly contested as a match could possibly be, the momentum swinging back and forth throughout. The rythm of the match seemed to remain the same; Sting would start to dominate the match, but Ric Flair would always find a way to turn things back in his favor--almost always by either bending or outright breaking the rules, fully living up to the "dirtiest player in the game" moniker. This would also end up being the longest match of the night, lasting just over 17 minutes, but the finish to this one finally came about when Sting, after another spell of dominance in the match, was looking down at Ric Flair who was on his knees, begging off....but then suddenly tried to poke Sting in the eye again, but this time Sting had "The Nature Boy" scouted. Sting took a step backwards, avoiding contact, and Flair then began to chop away on Sting's chest....to NO avail whatsoever! Flair, realizing that he was in trouble, began to beg off again, but Sting showed no hesitation and no mercy, pummeling Flair with rights and lefts. Sting whipped Flair into the turnbuckle and...STINGER SPLASH!!! Then he whipped Flair into the opposite corner and followed in with another Stinger Splash! Flair stumbled out of the corner on shaky legs, and Sting grabbed him from behind and....SCORPION DEATHDROP!!!! The crowd went nuts as Flair looked to be completely out of it...but Sting did not go for the cover, opting instead to grab Flair's legs and....SCORPION DEATHLOCK!!! Flair is tapping repeatedly, but Sting keeps the hold locked in tight, despite the referee admonishing him to break the hold. After a few moments of excruciating pain for "The Nature Boy", Sting finally releases the hold, but instead of celebrating his victory he just stares down at Flair and the camera is close enough for us to be able to hear Sting saying that "this is just the beginning". Sting then turns and leaves the ring and we cut back to Tony, Mike and Dusty at the announce table.

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/TonySchiavone3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/MikeTenay3.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DustyRhodes.jpg

At the announce table, Tony Schiavone says that he is not at all sure what to think about this new dark edge that Sting seems to have about him, pointing to what he just did to Ric Flair as a perfect example of why he is unsure. Mike Tenay agrees that Sting seems to be in a very dangerous place right now, but maybe he has to be in order to deal with the likes of Eric Bischoff and The Elite. Dusty adds that he has followed Sting's career for a long time and he knows Sting to be a kind and decent man, but he is seeing a whole new side to him, and much like Tony, he doesn't quite know what to make of it. Tony then says that even though tonight has already been absolutely huge, we still have the biggest match of them all yet to come as "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner defends the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against "The Man" Goldberg. He also mentions that Goldberg was attacked earlier tonight by someone, no one seems to know who, and he wonders what kind of condition Goldberg will be in since we haven't really gotten an update on that, but that match is coming up next!

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottSteiner.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpg

As the ring gets cleared out for the main event a brief video is shown highlighting the upcoming match event matchup between Scott Steiner and Goldberg and showing us how we got to this point. We see footage from Mayhem where Goldberg and Booker T won the tag team match against Scott Steiner and Jeff Jarrett when Goldberg pinned Jarrett and earned himself the title shot that he is receiving tonight. We also see highlights of what has happened over the past four weeks on Monday Nitro, with Goldberg and The Elite battling and it ends with shots from this past Monday Nitro of a bloodied Goldberg locked in the Steiner Recliner. As the video comes to an end we cut back to ringside for the introductions for tonight's main event. (B+)

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship!...Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by the WCW owner, Eric Bischoff...weighing in at two hundred seventy six pounds...he is the reigning WCW World Heavyweight Champion....representing The Elite..."Big Poppa Pump" SCOTT STEINER!!!!

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottSteiner.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpg

Scott Steiner and Eric Bischoff made their way out from the back to nothing but boos from the crowd. With the WCW World Title belt wrapped around his waist, Scott Steiner posed and flexed at the top of the ramp, and Tony Schiavone commented Eric Bischoff was looking entirely too relaxed, confident and even cocky, considering that Steiner was about to put the WCW World Title on the line. Steiner and Bischoff made their way to the ring and the confident expression on Bischoff's face never went away, and the announcers once again wondered about the condition of Goldberg following the attack earlier tonight and if perhaps that was the reason for Bischoff's cocky attitude.

"And introducing the challenger...weighing in at two hundred eighty five pounds.....GOLDBERG!!!!!!

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpg

The crowd went absolutely nuts as Goldberg's music hit and they followed "The Man" on the big screen as he made his way through the backstage area toward the entrance ramp. Then the fireworks went off and standing right in the middle of it all...was Goldberg! Goldberg marched down to the ring, seemingly looking no worse for wear in spite of the attack earlier on, but Mike Tenay speculated if perhaps Goldberg was simply hiding the effects of the attack so as to not put a bullseye on himself for Scott Steiner to target. Goldberg entered the ring looking as intense as he has ever looked, which is really saying a lot, and excitement and anticipation filled the air as this one was about to get under way.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/WCWWorld3.jpg

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/ScottSteiner.jpgw/http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/EricBischoff3.jpgvs.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/BillGoldberg2.jpg

As the bell sounded and this one got under way Steiner and Goldberg met each other in the middle of the ring for an intense staredown as the noise level in the building rose to an all new high. Neither man looked the slightest bit intimidated, and neither man wanted to be the one to break the staredown so it went on for quite a while until they finally locked up in a collar and elbow tie-up...but neither man was able to force the other one backwards as both men stood their ground and the announcers talked about how evenly matched these two men were psychically. Steiner and Goldberg broke up the tie-up, only to lock up again moments later, both men equally determined to prove their superior strength. While this was going on in the ring, Eric Bischoff decided that he was going to join Tony, Mike and Dusty at the announce table rather than simply hanging out at ringside and the first thing Bischoff said after putting his headset on was Tony, Mike and Dusty were dead wrong--Steiner and Goldberg weren't evenly matched at all, Steiner was simply toying with Goldberg. Tony Schiavone doubted that, but Bischoff told them all to just wait and see. Almost on cue Steiner took control in the ring, but it wasn't due to superior strength--he simply kneed Goldberg in the gut, abandoning the test of strength. With Goldberg momentarily stunned, Steiner seized the opportunity to put himself firmly in control of the match by pummeling Goldberg with several stiff right hand punches before taking the challenger down with a perfectly executed belly to belly suplex, much to the delight of Eric Bischoff who was quick to say "I told you so" to his fellow announcers. With Goldberg down on the mat, Steiner got himself in position to drop an elbow on him, but "Big Poppa Pump" first took the time to show off his bicep, and kissing it, before finally dropping the elbow...but Goldberg moved out of the way! Steiner pounded the mat in frustration and quickly got back to his feet, but Goldberg was waiting for him and....SPEAR!!!!! The crowd went absolutely nuts as Goldberg speared Steiner--could this one be over already?!?

But it wasn't as Steiner, much to his own credit, had the wherewithal to roll out of the ring and Eric Bischoff could be heard breathing a sigh of relief as he did so, and saying that what Steiner just did was the mark of a great champion. Not one to hang around for long, Goldberg left the ring to bring the champion back inside, but Steiner threw a vicious elbow right in Goldberg's face, and he followed up by slamming Goldberg's head into the ring apron and then rish whipping him hard into the steel post. Steiner rolled Goldberg back into the ring and he now found himself in complete control of the match. Steiner controlled the next several minutes of the match, going through pretty much his entire repertoire of suplex variations, each one executed to perfection and slowly wearing Goldberg down, with Eric Bischoff praising him every step of the way on commentary. Steiner picked up a couple of two counts along the way, but the three count really hadn't come close yet. Steiner hit a picture perfect belly to back suplex on Goldberg and then, obviously feeling good about himself and his chances, "Big Poppa Pump" started doing push ups in the middle of the ring, much to Bischoff's amusement as he could be heard laughing and sarcastically asking Tony if Steiner and Goldberg looked evenly matched now. Steiner then pulled Goldberg to his feet and....STEINER FLATLINER!!!

1...

2...

NO!!!

Goldberg managed to kick out, much to Steiner's frustration. Steiner pulled Goldberg back up again and went for another Flatliner, but this time Goldberg was able to push him off and as Steiner spun back around, Goldberg absolutely levelled him with a stiff clothesline. Steiner popped back up again only to walk right into a superkick, sending him back down. But Steiner showed his resilience by getting back to his feet again, but this time Goldberg hoisted Steiner up and brought him back down again hard with a powerful spinebuster and this time Steiner didn't pop right back up. On commentary, Tony was heard asking Bischoff if he still believed they're weren't evenly matched, but Bischoff just told him to shut up if he wanted to keep his job. Goldberg positioned himself in the corner of the ring, and there he waited for Steiner to get back to his feet while the crowd roared with excitement--they knew what was going to come next. Steiner slowly got back to his feet, Goldberg charged at him and.....NO!!! Steiner just barely managed at the last second to avoid contact, and Goldberg crashed face-first into the middle turnbuckle. "Get him, Scotty!" Bischoff was heard saying on commentary, and that was exactly what Steiner did as he pulled Goldberg to his feet and hit another perfect belly to belly suplex, which saw Goldberg now positioned at the very center of the ring. Steiner turned Goldberg onto his stomach and....STEINER RECLINER!!!! Steiner had it locked in and Eric Bischoff smugly concluded that "this one is over", but Goldberg wasn't tapping out or giving up--he was trying to get to the ropes, and much to Steiner's surprise he was actually getting there. Steiner tried to fight against it by applying as much pressure as he possibly could, but Goldberg still managed to get to the ropes, but Steiner kept the Steiner Recliner locked in until just before the five count, coming dangerously close to disqualification, although it did not seem to bother him one bit. With Goldberg down and in pain, Steiner took a moment to flex his muscles for the fans, who responded by sending a chorus of boos the champion's way. Steiner then turned his attention back to Goldberg, pulling him to his feet and irish whipping him into the ropes.....SPEAR!!!!!! Goldberg somehow found the strength to spear Steiner and he damn near cut him in half! With Steiner down and Eric Bischoff completely silent on commentary, Goldberg slowly crawled into the cover...

1....

2....

NO!!! Steiner kicked out!

Goldberg, seemingly having gotten his second wind, jumped to his feet, snarled at the camera, and then pointed to the sky, signalling that this one was just about over. At the same time Eric Bischoff left the announce table and frantically motioned toward the back and a few seconds later.....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RoddyPiper6.jpg

ROWDY RODDY PIPER!!! The crowd doesn't really know how to react to seeing Piper back in WCW, and the announcers doesn't quite know what to make of it either as they wonder if Piper was the one who attacked Goldberg earlier tonight. Piper slid into the ring and, sure enough, he blasted Goldberg from behind just as Goldberg was about to hoist Steiner up for the Jackhammer. The referee had his hand in the air, just about to call for the disqualification, but Bischoff stopped him and informed him in no uncertain terms that he would NOT be doing that. All the while Roddy Piper continued his attack on Goldberg and Scott Steiner had joined in as well, and the referee had no choice but to stand there and watch, as per Eric Bischoff's instructions. But then, coming through the crowd toward the ring....

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/DiamondDallasPage.jpg

IT'S DDP! Diamond Dallas Page jumped the guard rail and quickly slid into the ring, coming to Goldberg's aid, and Eric Bischoff's eyes went wide as he saw DDP grabbing Roddy Piper and tossing him to the outside. DDP left the ring again and began trading punches with Piper outside the ring, and DDP's surprise appearance was enough to draw Steiner's attention away from Goldberg for just long enough that Goldberg was able to get back to his feet again, and as Steiner turned around....SPEAR!!! A third Spear on Steiner! Goldberg quickly got back to his feet, pulled Steiner up as well and....JACKHAMMER!!!! Bischoff again frantically motioned toward the back as Goldberg was about to cover Steiner and the cavalry was quick to show up......

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/RicFlair2.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/JeffJarrett.jpghttp://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t1/bigdaddycool2sweet/Euro%20Wrestling/WCW/SeanOHaire2001.jpg

Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett and Sean O'Haire quickly rushed toward the ring as Goldberg covered Steiner.....

1.....

The remaining Elite members were about halfway down the entrance ramp....

2....

Sean O'Haire was the fastest down the ramp and he quickly slid into the ring and hurried toward Goldberg and Steiner.....

3!!!!!!!

O'Haire got there a moment too late!

NEW CHAMPION!!!!!!

Goldberg defeated Scott Steiner at 13.07 by pinfall with a Jackhammer. Goldberg vs Steiner was such a exciting read, I actually thought Steiner was going to pull of some sort of upset with all the stuff going on. I only hope Steiner isn't forced into some midcard feud now that Goldberg and Nash are set to collide. Big Papa Pump needs to get re-energized with some freaks.

Easily the best dynasty I've ever read.

Awesome write up for the main event! It sucks that the rating was a C+ as that easily would have generated a much higher rating in real life. I really enjoy your take on the new WCW as it's realistic. Looking forward to what you have in store for the new year. Great job!

Show Of The Year: WCW Starrcade (headlined by Goldberg vs. Scott Stiener for the WCW World Heavyweight Title) (WCW)

(in my opinion at least) :D

Was a great show man, and a fantastic Main Event which I could genuinely see going either way as it progressed. Match rating would/could have been higher if it was longer perhaps? And I now can't wait for G'Berg vs Nash!!!!
