Favorite games thread

Out of sheer curiosity, I'd like to know what you guys' favorite games are (apart from TEW/WMMA obviously; that's kind of a given on these forums). I know they do this almost everywhere, but I find that you get interesting results on these kind of (specialised) forums. You can debate some choices, but we all know it's subjective by definition. A lot comes from the direct experiences induced by these games, and you weren't there when that person played it. The title of the thread, btw, is "favorite games", not best games.

Perhaps it's best to just fill 5 prominent games of your life, and name top games for their respective genres (obviously excluding those that made the top 5 list). I made a template you can fill in, but be free to use your own or just type some names, it matters not. It doesn't need to be ranked: just 5 games you love(d) the most, taking into account the time they were released or the prestige. Graphics therefore shouldn't be a big factor imo. Update the post if you change your list to keep it manageable.

TOP 5 GAMES:

 1. - Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
 2. - Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
 3. - Crusader Kings II
 4. - Goldeneye 64
 5. - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

- Sam & Max Save the World

- Mount & Blade (as RPG is full up :p)

PUZZLE/ABSTRACT/CASUAL:

- Portal

- Lemmings

My Top 5: (note I haven't played as many as others have)

1. Batman Arkham Asylum- As much as BAC is a better game then BAA, BAA was the first in the series and really made me love open world type games.

2. Minecraft- Probably my second most played game of all time, behind WMMA 3, although I haven't played it much recently to overplaying it or the fact that the frames go low a lot at times.

3. Payday- Just the type of game I wanted, and a masterpiece, imho. Plus overkill is awesome.

4. GTA 4- So I have never played GTA 4 before, but have seen loads of MP videos (The Let's Play group for one), and they are very funny, not only because of the people, but the game itself, you can't find a truck rolling over during a game of cops n' robbers not funny.

5. LOST Via Domus- One reason and one reason only, first game I have ever 100%.

Hard to narrow it down because I have played numerous games over numerous platforms, but if I have to go by sheer time played then

1. Diablo 2 ( was still playing this 7 years after it came out )

2. Civilization ( have played every incarnation of the series, although the earlier ones were probably played by me the most)

3. World of Warcraft - Have almost 5 years of time playing this.

4. Yu-gi-Oh - Have played pretty much all the titles that came out for the Nintendo platforms and playstation portable- easily well over a couple thousand hours all told.

5. almost sad to say this, but Pokémon - have also played for well over a thousand hours across all the Gameboy and Nintendo portable versions that have come out over the last decade.

RPG wise

Mass Effect series ( although really, all of Bioware's titles were must plays for me, at least till the recent decline in quality)

The D&D gold box games back in the late 90's

Neverwinter Nights

Bards Tale

Fallout

Ultima series

All time

Diablo 2

X-com ( original)

Master of Orion 2

Civilization

Ultima 4

Recently ( aka the past year or so) my favorites

Skyrim

Xcom ( new version)

Star Trek Online

Batman Arkham City

Diablo 3

This is tough...

Top 5 Games:

1. Skyrim

2. GTA: San Andreas (This and GTA Vice City probably have the two best soundtracks ever. Not sure why GTA IV's soundtrack sucked so bad.)

3. Saints Row 2 (I hardly ever play the missions in this game and have never beaten it because I just enjoy going around doing the diversions and killing people.).

4. Final Fantasy VII

5. Super Mario Brothers III

according to this from their website

Our dev team has been squashing bugs left and right, and we released a game update yesterday. On Steam, this update is applied automatically and you can see our release notes in the Announcement section of our Steam page. The updated DRM-free version is available on our HBS Account Site. Just login and download the game again. The release notes are also available on http://shadowrun-returns.wikispaces.com/Release+Notes and we’re looking to find a way for you to be able subscribe to that page so you can get automatic updates in your inbox.

you would download the game again from the downloads section and it would be the updated version.

My top 5 would have to be:

1. Final Fantasy X (I think I played Blitzball more than the actual game, same with the card games in the ones before it.)

2. Super Mario World on SNES

3. MVP Baseball 2005

4. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

5. Aerobiz Supersonic on SNES (Played many a marathon games with my brother and cousin over the years.)

Civ 2 and Goldeneye would be up there too. The original Halo only because of the 8 player games we would play on baseball trips when it came out.
