Both men showcased impressive chain wrestling skills early, and Nitro eventually gained the advantage with a side headlock. Gunn pushed him off into the ropes and he received a back body drop! Nitro got up quickly nursing his back and ran at Gunn, who pulled down the top rope sending the Hollywood superstar hurtling to the floor!</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">Melina rushed over to her man to make sure he was okay, helping him up in the process. She let out a piercing scream as Gunn hit a baseball slide, sending Nitro into the barricade! Billy went outside the ring to continue his pursuit, slamming Johnny’s head into the barricade before throwing him back in the ring. Billy picked him up and received an eye rake for his efforts, giving Nitro some control. He hit a couple of European uppercuts and used dirty tactics like rubbing his elbow in Gunn’s face to keep him in control of the matchup.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">Nitro showed off a variety of interesting moves, such as a standing shooting star press which got a two count. He picked up Gunn and went for a back suplex, but Gunn flipped out the back of it. Nitro caught him off guard with a capoeira kick which shook his skull and drew “ooh”s from the crowd. Nitro hooked the leg again, but Gunn was able to kick out. Nitro was starting to get frustrated, and Gunn capitalized by hitting him with a scoop slam after ducking a punch. He followed that up with a fallaway slam, but was unable to capitalize.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">The two met on their feet and Gunn was able to reverse an Irish whip into the corner. He ran at Gunn and hit a Stinger splash, dazing his opponent. Billy hit a powerslam to Nitro, but Melina got up on the apron! With the referee distracted, Gunn wasn’t able to get the three count. He walked over to her and with the referee trying to push Gunn away, Melina slapped him across the face! Bubba Ray came in and saw some success, but Shelton was able to use his athleticism to hit a springboard dropkick to his chest! He made the tag to Rodney Mack.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">Mack beat up on Bubba Ray a bit more, but when D-Von was tagged in, he got back in the fight. He hit a reverse DDT which got a two count, but he stayed on the attack. He tagged in Bubba Ray, who looked for the Bubba Cutter, but was pushed off and turned around into a running big boot instead. Mack only got a two count, but tagged Benjamin in. Shelton continued the roll, making sure that Bubba was unable to tag out following his mistake against Mack. He went for a T-Bone Suplex, but Bubba landed a couple of elbows to the head and a scoop slam. He tagged in D-Von, who came in off the hot tag and cleared the ring.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">The champions fought back with flawless tag team work, tagging in and out frequently to preserve strength. The finish came when Shelton was unable to avoid hitting Mack as Bubba ducked a flying lariat. He whipped Benoit hard into the opposite turnbuckle, sending him bouncing off of it and to the ground. Batista let out a roar as Flair applauded, the crowd turning up the volume of their boos. Batista locked the former WWE Champion in a rear chinlock. “The Animal” dominated this part of the early going.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">Continuing his assault on the neck area of Chris Benoit, he locked in a Dragon sleeper, which Benoit eventually was able to twist his way out of. He ran forward and pushed Batista into the corner, but the referee broke them up and that was all Batista needed to hit another knee lift. Benoit shrugged this one off, however, and hit a dropkick to Batista’s knee. He then hit a pair of snap suplexes and bounced off the ropes but was nearly decapitated by a gigantic clothesline from Batista! He made the cover, but Benoit threw his shoulder up.</span><br id=""><br id=""><span style="font-family: calibri,arial,sans-serif; color: #ff0000;">“The Rabid Wolverine” looked essentially out on his feet as Batista lifted him up. Out of nowhere, Benoit used a Dragon screw to bring Batista down and looked to lock in a Sharpshooter! Batista shoved Benoit across the ring with his massive legs, but Benoit rushed back toward him. Batista tried to lay him out with a huge clothesline again, but Benoit caught his arm and slowly but surely locked in the Crippler Crossface! Batista crawled ever closer to the ropes and was within fingertips as the referee looked toward him. I'm also about to book Judgment Day in-game, which I'm hoping turns out to be as good as Backlash was rating-wise. Angle/Guerrero for the belt should be a good one.
