C-Verse 2008 (HYPE/BETA)

Recommended Posts

A Little Info...

Me and Stennick have collaborated on this mod due to our love of the CVerse's 2008 edition. This is a mod that has been in the works for a decent amount of time now. I believe the first talks between me and Stennick contacted each other about the mod was around March but it wasn't until recently when it started looking like there was the possibility of a release.

Important Information

This is not a straight conversion of the 2008 data, it is a mod scenario. That being said everything is nearly identical to the 08 data with the exception of a popularity overhaul and some stat tweaks. As the data in each edition of TEW has slightly modified stats/popularity of workers and companies in order for it to work best with 2013 we needed to do the same. Also one thing that was changed (that was probably the biggest) were super rookies. Of course guys like Jay Chord, The Keiths, DWN, etc will still be great workers they have been scaled down from their 2008 counterparts and are much more in line with the 2013 versions (but not quite) This also includes every wrestler in the TEW13 database that wasn't around in 08 like the GSW/IPW guys, most of Australia, etc so don't be surprised to see a few guys hanging around in spots where they didn't exist previously. There are a couple of narratives in the game, but nothing that should be too earth shattering. Also have been trying to fix bios with references to events after the start date (2008) and while I spent a great deal of time on them, I am sure that some slipped through the cracks. This is not a full release as of yet and we would love it if you would PLEASE REPORT ANY ERRORS IN THIS THREAD.

There is no pic pack but off the top of my head I know Spirit of the Lizard (Inejiro Yoshizawa) and Spirit of the Shark (Noritoshi Miura) got character changes in 2013 but unless I'm mistaken their new renders (w/o the gimmick) use their old names so unless you were aware of this still have both sets of pictures one set will override the other.

Also still trying to weed out title lineage issues so report those as you find them please. Recently cleared out OLLIE's women's title lineage right after I uploaded the data.

THE GAME WORLD

USA

-DaVE went out of business in mid 2007 and the effect is being seen all around the USA. There are new promotions made from the ashes of the company, filled with bright young talent like the FCW promotion in Puerto Rico run by Shawn Gonzalez and Pureto Rican Power and PSW was started by Mitch Naess in an attempt to resurrect the hardcore feeling of DaVE. Phil Vibert and Nemesis have both seemingly disappeared from wrestling and it is unknown when either of them will be back, if ever.

- USPW is the fastest rising promotion in the West and it was solidified when they made the massive signing of former TCW World Champion Liberty, wrestling under the name James Justice. They were also beneficiaries of the DaVE collapse when they brought in Hardcore Icon Chris Caulfield in Mid 2007. Along with the rising star Nicky Champion, the new acquisitions have gotten USPW noticed and they could very well become a threat to the Big Two very soon.

- Speaking of the Big Two TCW is as close as they have ever been to the SWF on the back of The Syndicate stable drawing in interest to the promotion. The storyline really took a turn when Pro Wrestling Legend and former SWF booker Sam Keith debuted in the Summer as a surprise member of the stable. TCW is incredibly hot right now and have a host of emerging babyfaces to fight the stable. In addition to The Syndicate, TCW has also added a number of former DaVE stars to beef up their talent roster including Eddie Peak, Sammy Bach, and Joey Minnesota.

- In the SWF Jack Bruce reigns supreme, but the biggest development has been the heel turn of Skull DeBones into a monster, calling himself Vengeance after destroying Christian Faith. The undercard is packed with tons of young talent like the Amazing Bumfholes, Marc DuBois, High Concept, and Valiant as well as DaVE alumni Jack Giedroyc and "Big Money" Brandon James, the former Big Cat Brandon who is managed by Emma Chase. Rich Money and Lobster Warrior are also creeping their way into the main event scene alongside young stars like Steve Frehley and Remo.

Canada

- NOTBPW is dealing with the exile of Edd Stone from the Family business but other than that it's business as usual for NOTBPW. Johnny Bloodstone is in the midst of his first title reign, and Sean McFly is out injured. In CGC Eric Tyler made his return after the death of DaVE and along with Elite, are a constant threat to the DeColt Family. There are rumors that both Dan Stone Sr and George DeColt could hand over their respective companies to one of their sons soon, on their way out of the business.

Mexico

- Mexico had been in a bit of a holding pattern since the draft, but SOTBPW has comfortably been established as the top promotion in the country. Though they have yet to dominate the Mexican industry, there are rumors that stars may soon be flocking to SOTBPW due to all of their mainstream coverage and press.

British Isles

- Jeff Nova's 21CW has put a stranglehold on the market in the British Isles. They have TV and have cherry picked virtually every talented wrestler in the company that they wanted. MoSC and ROF are struggling to survive, and with 21CW potentially calling for any breakout stars they might find, neither promotion could have long to survive. Many insiders have compared it to the late 70s in the US, with the way SWF totally dominated the competition.

Europe

- In 2007 when Louis Figo Manico decided to close UCR and take a hiatus, a war broke out between its former employees and its remains split between two promotions. UEW is the more traditional and "workrate" oriented company headed by Owner Ali Bloxsome and Booker Joey Beauchamp. The other company is EWA who is run by Byron and focuses on Giant wrestlers and entertainment (Muscles!). This very bitter war for Europe has also split the former UCR fans and neither company so far has been able to replicate the success of UCR. Only time will tell which company made the right decision but for now it is dead even between the two.

Japan

- BHOTWG was hurt badly by the INSPIRE walkout, but has somehow managed to stay on top in the country for now, even despite those departures in addition to Bruce The Giant in the Fall of 2006. This was accomplished by the rise of a few younger wrestlers coming into their own such as Hiroaki Nakasawa, Kinnojo Horri, and the tandem of Black Magic (Yasuhiko Taira and Yasunobu Masuno), in addition to their newly resurgent Junior division that boasts stars such as Sensational Dragon, Marihito Masuko, Elemental III, as well as veterans like Black Cobra and Golden Scorpion.

- PGHW is inching closer and closer to the top of the Japanese mountain thanks to their amazing matches seemingly every show. There are concerns about their current crop of main eventers potentially breaking down soon, but they look like they are in great shape for the future with stars like PRIDE Koiso, Kozue Kawashima, and Masaru Ugaki making waves and being seen as future stars. It only seems like a matter of time before they enjoy their time on top.

- INSPIRE started off hot due to the massive amount of name value their wrestlers had, but could not maintain it due to their approach being little more than worked MMA which meant they were (unsuccessfully) competing with the giant ALPHA-1 company. They have changed their approach slightly and are still considered one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world. Stars like Marat Khoklov, Tadiyuki Kikkawa, Mike Watson, and Raul Huges ensure that there is never a shortage of star power on their roster.

- The smaller companies in the country boast talented young workers such as Magnum Kobe and Emerald Angel in WLW, as well as Takayuki 2000, Hiroyasu Gakusha, and Mabuchi Furusawa in GCG. WEXXV is still your company if you love blood and weapons in the East, and yes Larry Wood does occasionally get tacks in his beard. :p

Australia

- Seemingly out of the blue there was a discovery of wrestling down under. The biggest promotion is APW who had their pick of every wrestler in the country to choose from after the simultaneous deaths of every other company due to James J McMinister buying them out. They boast about as good of a roster as you can have with the talent pool in Australia. There was also a new promotion opened at the end of 2007 in the form of ZEN who promote a fun atmosphere with high flying and fast paced wrestling.

This is fantastic I just got home from being out of town with work for the last week, I'm home tonight and head back out tomorrow for another week. I'm glad that I'll be able to download this data and play with it tonight. I'll report back any thing I find. I knew you were close to releasing this and I'm glad we stuck with the not really releasing until we are nearly done with it. I'm excited to read what everyone thinks about this from what I've played in testing this is one of the better mods everything you might love about 08 but also feeling fresh.

<p>So far it looks great (been having fun just nosing around the data). Just a couple of things I noticed.....</p><p> </p><p>

1) Stan Manna is in the date twice. Once as Stan Manna, and then again as Stan "The Man" Manna. I haven't seen any other duplicates yet, but it might be worth checking.</p><p> </p><p>

2) More of a question than a problem with the data....will the beginning storylines be added to/fleshed out in feds where they are gonna be important (SWF for example)?</p><p> </p><p>

Again, the mod looks great from what I've seen so far -- looking forwards to playing quite a long save from this one.</p>

Thanks no idea how I didn't catch Stan Manna that issue is fixed.

I didn't plan on adding more starting storylines since we don't know for sure what exactly was happening but I suppose I could add one for SWF and CGC since they seem to have pretty defined stories. I didn't want to add too many to influence how people might book the companies because I think that the 2008 version especially has a lot of flexibility with the big companies

Revised data should be out some time today.

<p>Loaded up it up to test out a MAW game and noticed a few things:</p><p> </p><p>

1) Antonio and Max Mayhem's MAW contracts lacked pictures while their normal profiles had them.</p><p> </p><p>

2) Super Sonic lacks a picture</p><p> </p><p>

3) Stretch the Chicken boy has gazed into his future and has foreseen his Disturbed gimmick and decided to debut it 3 years ahead of schedule.</p>

Very cool. Always like seeing prior versions of the C-Verse done for the current game. And this one could potentially help me two ways. I haven't gotten much into TEW13 due to the storyline issue and this could be a good catalyst for me to take another swing at it. And being that this is 2008, I could take another swing at INSPIRE. I tried them back then and never got anywhere but I still have my notes about what I intended with them team wise and a match rotation to work from. Maybe I could finally get all that off the ground with this mod.

Brother Cappy you're right 2008 may be one of the greatest years in all of the C Verse. You had the Syndicate that had just formed in TCW, in USPW Chris Caulfield and James Justice have just helped launch USPW into cult status and make them a major player. SWF's tag division is at its height. To my personally it never got better than that year.

When doing the data I tried to include a lot of the alt characters that are in current TEW. Wouldn't this be the same as playing in 1993 and Cactus Jack gazing into his future and becoming Mankind? Or what about Issac Yankem DDS becoming Kane in 1994 instead of 1997. </p><p> </p><p> I believe that in most cases the mantra around here is that once we start playing the game "canon" goes out of the window and it becomes its own separate universe. Just like in reality altering one single event could alter anything. </p><p> </p><p> I will look into it and see what percentage the character's likelihood of debuting is though.</p>

Already noted for both men, actually changed it earlier and went looking for more alter egos with wrong picture names that would cause no pics to show up. I haven't found any yet</p><p> </p><p> 2. My data also has a picture for Sonic so I'll upload an updated pic pack with him in it as well</p><p> </p><p> 3. Since he uses Disturbed from 2011 on I made it his default with Stretch as his mandatory (100%) alter ego until he reaches the age where he debuts Disturbed which I believe is 25 for him. It makes the AI use stretch, and users can do it manually if they want. It also helps that long term games will ensure that he has the (what I believe to be necessary, others would disagree <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) character change.</p><p> </p><p> Will try to get the new data up in a few</p>

<p>Updated with newest data and pics</p><p> </p><p>

Also slightly modified Danger Kumasaka and now he seems to consistently take over PGHW. It wasn't really intentional but it makes a lot of sense for them to go in that direction. I've always hated the idea that Seiji will inherit the company in his rookie year, or if he's in development it will go to a random worker so this is just a personal issue resolved.</p>

  • 2 weeks later...
Just an update, I will be adding <a href="http://greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525734" rel="external nofollow">Mammoth's Gimmick File</a> to the next release which means I'm (slowly) going through every worker in the database and changing their contract and default gimmicks. I still think that the game world plays well enough that there is no need for another update until I am finished with all of the gimmicks, but I am still finding small things while going through every worker again so the next update should be much cleaner.
