CrazyEddie
"In what is considered an absolute shocker in the world of wrestling, Paul Heyman has been signed by the WWF to be their head booker. Heyman had been running ECW since summer 1993, and was rumored to be in line to purchase a majority of the promotion from founder Tod Gordon, but apparently he was given an offer he couldn't refuse by WWF Owner Vince McMahon. McMahon clearly wants to shake things up in a stagnant WWF, that has lost ground to WCW and their new Monday night show Nitro, and just recently lost two more of their top stars, Razor Ramon and Diesel to the competition as well. Heyman has been known for his revolutionary and more adult oriented booking style as of late. How that will transfer to the WWF is anyone's guess. As far as ECW? When I spoke with founder Tod Gordon this morning, he told me that he will take the reins back as head booker, and that his immediate goal is to get ECW on Pay Per View, and to continue to grow their rabid Philadelphia fanbase. Will some of the ECW mainstays jump to join Paul for bigger money and bigger stardom? Will Gordon purge the roster and bring in some fresh meat? Can ECW survive? Stay tuned..." - Dave Meltzer, The Wrestling Observer
