Was feeling a bit motivated this morning to tackle some of the administrative duties.

All pages have been updated as of 12:35 PM (Eastern US) on December 15, reflecting training, movesets, and new entrants.

RazorSharp/deandean88: Your pages are now live on the website. Once you send in training and/or trait points, I'll have a moveset developed for you unless you send me one of your own.

Eidenhoek: Your training and game-generated moveset is available for viewing.

Note that I've also tweaked Phoenix's moveset some to expand his attacking options.

We're now at 16 confirmed, with at least two more possible (one will likely be in within the next week). Nine days to go before the tentative deadline.

The projected start of Season Seven is slated to occur on Tuesday, January 7, 2014. The projected ending date of the season will be posted once I have a schedule finalized based on the number of entrants we'll have, but figure it to be sometime in April.

And so the Twitters start up again... <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Next batch of matches will be posted tomorrow barring circumstances. By my records, only four of the twelve who started this preseason still need full matches written out (Sean Lyaskaris, Phoenix, Thor Hammerskald, and Diamond because we've retconned Blue). Three of those matches are specialty bouts. Each batch has two full matches scheduled.

Something to look forward to this week.

@CallOfKing Was that even supposed to be funny?

@CallOfKing (via Twitlonger) Let me set you straight, even though you're probably too thick to understand what I am about to tell you. You thinking being "straight-edge" is going to make you stronger? Pitiful. You call yourself an atheist but you worship a false paradigm that sobriety leads to discipline. You think your beliefs make you a unique and special snowflake, but let's be honest here, there's thousands of people just like you, self-deluded fools conforming with a so-called counter-culture movement. And I know why you do it. Because it's easier to live with blinders over your eyes than accept the reality of the world around you. And that reality is this: Despite your teetotaling, you are an addict to your own over-inflated ego. Through your mindless message you try to lead man to a path that is unnatural to his nature. You see drugs, alcohol, and the like as some kind of monster to be avoided. But you are wrong. The real monster is man himself. No rational mind can deny it; what else but "monster" can you call a species that drops bombs on each other just to see how long it takes from them to die from radiation poisoning? When you deny the monstrous nature of man, you stop becoming a man. You become a lamb fit only for slaughter. And the monsters... The monsters are always hungry. #CarpeMundusPerJugulum

Season Seven, 21 days before start of season

League Headquarters: Chicago, Illinois

December 17, 2013

THE LEAGUE: PRESEASON (CONTINUED)

Ben Williams (3-3, 200 OVR) vs. Judah Snow (1-0, 300 OVR)

This ended up being little more than a lengthy squash match. Snow dominated most of the match, hitting a pair of Snow Plows that Williams escaped from, and a couple of minutes later, a Snowplex as well. Williams somehow got a shoulder up from that finisher, and Snow made him pay with a third Snow Plow that nearly dumped Williams out of the ring. It was academic from there, as Snow pinned the youngster in 8:17 to put an end to the match.

EUROPEAN RULES MATCH: The Scotsman (3-4, 200 OVR) vs. Thor Hammerskald (0-1, 300 OVR)

Bob Sinclair: Coming up next is a new style of match for The League this year, a style termed as European Rules.

Frankie Garnett: So, what, no ref bumps, strict rules enforcement, Old School mentality?

Tori Montgomery: Not exactly, Frankie. European rules can be considered a hybrid of MMA and wrestling. The match is split into five-minute "rounds," with the winner of two falls winning the match. It should be noted that pins and submissions count as one fall, but countouts and disqualifications count as two. So if you get counted out or DQ'ed, the match is over immediately. Of course, the ref can stop the fight at any point if he feels that one competitor cannot continue due to a risk of their health.

Frankie Garnett: That has to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Bob Sinclair: Honestly, I'm interested to see how this works in action. And it only seems fitting that a pair of European natives get to demonstrate this match style for us. It's The Scotsman taking on the defending League Champion, Thor Hammerskald, and the match starts right now!

Frankie Garnett: I’d almost say a 10-8 round for Scotsman; Thor got basically no offense in at all.

Tori Montgomery: After that first round, I'd say these two are about even. Scotsman was being pounded early but with the beating he dished out this round, I think these two are back on equal footing now.

Bob Sinclair: We'll find out shortly as we prepare for round three, and Thor looks like he wants to end this one right now!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, for crying out loud!

Tori Montgomery: Scotsman apparently gives zero cares for the rulesets, he'll settle for beating you into a bloody pulp!

Bob Sinclair: It is effective, at any rate...

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, the referee has stopped this match due to the excessive blood loss. Therefore, your winner, at twenty-eight minutes and fifty-five seconds...The Scotsman!

Frankie Garnett: And we're considering letting him into The League? I'm beginning to think he is little better than Maxx Skabb or Psycho Sam!

Bob Sinclair: Be that as it may, Frankie, Scotsman picks up a much-needed win and gives himself a slight cushion heading into the final batch of matches in the preseason!

Bob Sinclair: Moving ahead, while our ring crew replaces the blood-soaked mat from the previous match, we have a Submission match and quite frankly, I think this is going to be a one-sided affair.

Frankie Garnett: You mean that Ben Williams has no known submission finishers while his opponent has one of the most lethal Figure Fours in League History?

Bob Sinclair: Yes, that's exactly what I mean.

Tori Montgomery: There's no doubt the contest heavily favors Sean Lyaskaris in this one, but stranger things have happened in The League.

Frankie Garnett: Heck with that...always bet on Sean!

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, you do know there's no wagering on preseason matches, right?

Frankie Garnett: Since when has that stopped me?

Bob Sinclair: He does have a point there. In any event, the mat has been changed, the principals are in the ring...and we are underway!

For those that are wondering, a Cthulhu Clutch is a chickenwing cobra clutch with a body triangle scissors. And yes, a chickenwing cobra clutch is possible. You basically wrap your opponent's strong-side arm around his own neck, but instead of a quarter nelson your strong arm is put across the back of the neck like a brace and holds on to the opponent's wrist, so your weak-side arm (which would be holding the opponent's strong-side arm in a normal cobra clutch) would be free to apply the chickenwing. It's a move I developed back when I planned on being a wrestler, before my post-athsmatic cardio and back problems put an end to that.

"@DS5 Me being straightedge doesn't make me "stronger", b/c honestly, I have always been better than all of you, just like how I'm better than past & future members of the League. Not being straightedge makes you weak. I don't need to find myself at the bottom of a bottle to assuage my insecurities, which is something you mindless baboons do. & you William KING, are aptly named. So enjoy your rum, b/c soon, I will erase you & your name from the League."

But bro, THAT was awesome. & it was kinda supposed to be funny. I couldn't think of anything…

I’m fat. I’m slow. I can’t wrestle. I’m ugly. I can’t get laid.

Now that I’ve effectively eliminated all the obvious things people in The League are going to say about me, I’ll clue everyone in on who and what I actually am.

I’m a bastard, in the truest sense of the word. Yes, I’m an illegitimate child, but don’t take that to mean I wasn’t cared for. No, my father made sure I never went without. You see, he had a wife, his own kids and cushy life, but he always sent me birthday cards, Christmas presents, and gave my mother money to take care of me. But none of that would change the truth; I was a bastard.

When I was young, I was embarrassed of being a bastard. When it was ‘bring your dad to school’ day, I would beg my mother to keep me home. It wasn’t until I was older that I learned to embrace the gift I was given.

Throughout history bastards weren’t considered part of any lineage and would never have a claim on their father’s estate, unless everyone ahead of them in the line of succession was dead or they were made legitimate.

To me, this was freedom. I was given the chance to form my own path, to create for myself and do it all in my own image. But all this meant was that I wasn’t bound to a father or a mother, the real release came from the word of God.

Deuteronomy 23:2 states that “a bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even in his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord”.

So because I’m a bastard me and all of my children are forbidden from worship and therefore will not be accepted into heaven. This may terrify some of you; make you question everything you believe in, but me? This made me smile.

You see, I firmly believe that all men are created evil and it is the promise of heaven as a reward that encourages men to do the right thing. So what happens when you can simply act as you please? Sweet, sweet freedom. Now I can be the man I always knew that I was. I don’t have to follow any codes or guidelines that try and force me to be good or nice. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some lunatic murdering rapist who is set out to **** the world up. Oh no, I would much rather **** it up within the laws, more fun that way. No facetious niceties, or happy play along. I can just be simple, evil me.

You see, when it comes to the world, the bottom is full of people who are good and nice. But in the end, it’s the cream and the bastards who rise…and I’m the goddamn king of bastards!

@CallofKing I don't assuage my insecurities because I don't have any.

@CallOfKing You want to talk about insecurity, let's talk about insecurity. Insecurity is assuming that not being straightedge makes you an alcoholic.

@CallOfKing Insecurity is assuming that people who are against you are doing so only because they are alcoholics.

@CallOfKing You know, there was a guy in the 1930s and 40s who didn't smoke or drink and thought he was a messiah too. People listened to him and made him a leader. Didn't turn out well.

@CallOfKing I am no messiah. I am better than a messiah. I am the weapon that kills messiahs. I am Man. #CarpeMundusPerJugulum

Holy cow, guys...save some of that for when the season starts! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Also, friendly reminder for you lurkers debating on joining in...you have just under a week to get your applications mailed to me to get in for Season Seven! Owning WS3 or even having the demo isn't necessary, but it may help if you're unsure of how the mechanics work.

Two things:

1) With the addition of a new attribute/trait in the database, I will be adding that to the spreadsheet this afternoon. That trait, for those who may not know, is as follows:

Impact Player: Any Impact move (not including variants like Lifting, etc.) gain a 5% bonus to hit (1 TP).

Because of this addition to the game before the season starts, I will allow those folks who have already sent in Trait lists to swap a positive trait out for Impact Player if they so choose.

2) The last of the preseason matches may very well be posted tonight. All have been run and I just need to write out commentary.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the final set of matches in The League's first preseason! A lot rides on these six matches, in particular the two possible contracts for The League for Ben Williams and The Scotsman should they finish with six wins in the preseason.

Frankie Garnett: Bob, we haven't even started the regular season yet, why are you acting like this is the week before the playoffs?

Tori Montgomery: And why are you acting like The Grinch, Frankie?

Frankie Garnett: ....

Bob Sinclair: In any event, it's time to get started with our first match of the evening. This will be a first for The League—a Tables match!

Tori Montgomery: This should be interesting, Bob. I wasn't sold on having Tables matches in The League; we're going to find out how well it works in a League environment shortly.

It wasn't until Blackstone went for the Done Deal that Williams came to life and channeled his inner Scotsman. Eschewing the Twisting Face Crusher, Williams decided to make an example out of his opponent, busting him open and working over the head during the following ten minutes, culminating with the ref calling off the match at 25:35. Sakura kept with him every step of the way, though, and somehow managed to have enough wherewithal to counter an attempted Powerbomb with an Eye Poke, and promptly throw a Holy Hand Grenade at 11:06 that was enough to pin Scotsman and leave him a match short of achieving a League contract!

Bob Sinclair: This is the final match of the preseason, as Ben Williams looks to collect on a League contract if he can get past a League Original, former League Champ, two-time Tag Team Turmoil champ, and perennial contender in The Phoenix.

Tori Montgomery: I don't think Williams has much of a chance. Phoenix's going to come in looking to redeem himself after being medically DQ'd by Scotsman his last time out.

Bob Sinclair: That has to do it! Williams is not moving, and Phoenix motions for the ref to start a count!

Frankie Garnett: Like that is going to keep Ben down with so much on the line!

Bob Sinclair: Ref is up to a count of 5, Williams is just starting to stir...now at six...seven, and Williams has a hold of the ropes. He's using them to pull himself to his feet...and he's back to a vertical base at the count of eight!

(07:21) Ben Williams is in trouble, that Blaze of Glory is locked in deep!

Bob Sinclair: Brilliant move by Phoenix! If a man can't stand on his ankle due to the pain, how can he win this match?

Frankie Garnett: Brilliant? That's as underhanded as they come, Bob!

Bob Sinclair: Oh, and blatantly uppercutting someone in the groin isn't?

Frankie Garnett: I don't have to answer to you!

Bob Sinclair: The ref is already to a count of five, as Phoenix watches from the opposite corner. Tori is giving her client some words of advice as the count continues...he's up to seven now, and Williams cannot put any weight on that ankle!

Frankie Garnett: So he had to resort to cheap tactics to win?

Bob Sinclair: Only you, Frankie...ref is up to nine, Williams making a last-ditch effort to get to his feet, but his ankle gives out on him again! There's ten, it's over!

Frankie Garnett: (Says nothing, throwing his headset down in disgust)

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of seven minutes and thirty-four seconds...The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Folks, that will do it for the preseason. Neither Scotsman nor Williams have earned a League contract, despite their best efforts, and we'll see you in just under three weeks for the proper start of Season Seven!

The Holy Hand Grenade is so good it automatically boosts the match rating by 1. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

In all seriousness, I'm glad I came third. Looking forward to it.

We are now at 17 entrants, as Jaded has returned. Robbie Maynard, however, has not.

Jaded, your page will be live on the site this evening after I get home from work.

Should we end up with an odd number of characters, and since neither Scotsman nor Williams earned a provisional contract, I will likely go into my list of character ideas and use one of them to make the number even. Just an FYI for everyone involved.

EDIT: As promised, Jaded's character is now listed. My editor crashed before I could add him to the main Current Season page, I should have that fixed soonish.
