Tennisbum
Just got this game yesterday. Really enjoying it but man is recruiting tough. I took Pitt my first year and went 9-3 won the conference and on to a GDCF or whatever bowl :D . Next season also 9-3 second in conference to Syracuse. Then it all went down hill 3rd season where all of my recruits start playing. I go 3-9  and look for numerous things to throw in my basement, not to mention I lost to Rutgers.. grrrrr. Any one else have problems recruiting. I can never seem to land over a 3 star player no matter how much money, scouting, or scholarships I throw at them. Not to mention I only seem to land 7 - 8 players a season!
mh2365
That is because no one in the big east has a prestige over 50 in the game. I ended up going into the pstats file and uping the prestige of Pitt, WVU and Louisville into the 60's.
Rene778
I have had problems recruiting in general. It seems to me that the overall recruiting AI is unbalanced (for the lack of a better word). I have improved both the coaching staff and the recruiting service yet there is no similar improvement in my recruits. After a few seasons almost everyone in my league ends up with essentially the same recruits, but they play better than mine (a player development issue perhaps). I think that I will wait for the next release before I play to many more seasons.
slingblade73
I rerated the prestige(both) fairly and my 6 year dynasty is going very well and very realistic.
Tim Plum
don't forget about your school prestige level in recruiting. many of the conferences have similar prestige levels so that may explain your seeing similar recruits. As to playing better that has other issues including gameplan, coaching, strategy, playing time, roster.
Rene778
Thanks for the response Tim. I understand the prestige issue in terms of recruiting. Because of the way I sim seasons I rely heavily on the computer coaches for guidance of strategy in the game. So if all else is equal an improvement in my assistant coaches should produce at least some relative improvement in multiple seasonal results....at least on the field. In terms of recruiting I have consistently done better by not reading the feedback from the services and just going by interest numbers.
Tim Plum
me too. I go by gut feeling.
Rene778
Suppose I should start saving some money...:)
Roll Tide
In terms of recruiting I have consistently done better by not reading the feedback from the services and just going by interest numbers.
That's the best way to recruit! I'll check the email to double check where they say "stop recruiting this guy", normally that means his interest has dropped since the last time to below 7. Rene778
Sometimes I'll get a letter from a recruit with a "connection" to the university. I will pursue this guy and show him around campus and then offer him a scholarship. Almost universally he will sign the letter of intent, but the services almost always show his interest as below 7 (as low as 1). This has been true for both the elite services and mid-range recruit services that are in the game. They seem stupid.
Roll Tide
Rene, I've had a few of those. One season I signed a guy who wrote one of those letters and he signed up with me, but his interest level was a "1". Go figure.
Capital
There's certainly no guarantee because the last 2 letters I received did not sign with me and I recruited them at the heaviest level every week.
mh2365
I'm a little confused by this what do you guys mean you get a letter from a recruit? Where do you see this because I never have.
Rene778
The letter MH comes over the regular e-mail news...if that is what it is. Something like my father went to Toledo I want to attend to.
Miral
When you first advance to the recruiting stage, you should see an email from a guy who wants to come to your school.
mh2365
Wow I've gone through maybe 15 seasons and I have never seen one letter that is from a player.
Tennisbum
I've gotten two letters in my seven seasons so far.. Both guys did join me but I redshirted one and the next season he left, what a bum! My recruiting seems to have gotten better though. Right after my 3-9 season I had the number 32 recruiting class and went 8-4. Then next season had a 40 recruiting class and won the big east again. My team once again is on the rise. Go Panthers I mean Jaguars!
Roll Tide
Wow I've gone through maybe 15 seasons and I have never seen one letter that is from a player.
I didn't see a recruit email until I hit the 50's level with my team. Most of the recruits are a 3 star level and I've gotten most of them.
Biltong
I've only seen these emails when playing as less than above average prestige schools.
Bigmoe
I'm playing as FIU, the first year I went 1-10, 2006 (2-9), and received an e-mail from a player(OLB- 3 star) wanting to come to FIU, since he grew up with my starting OG. I gave him a visit and scholorship early. His interest levle was 10. Then on week 11 interest level went down to 1. He still signed with the school. Hes my only 3-star player. GaryStephen
Perhaps this is supposed to model real life? The "1 interest when they have a personal connection to my school" thing could mean that you know about the personal connection and higher level of recruit interest, but the recruiting services don't.
