As can be expected these two have an absolute brawl with both exchanging hard-hitting blows and power moves. Steiner hits a Frankensteiner on Meng sending him crashing into the referee. The Dog-Faced Gremlin realizes what has happened and attempts to resurrect the ref to no avail. The crowd erupt at the unexpected sight of Piper who comes to the ring and grabs a microphone. Roddy asks the fans if they remember his interview skills which gets an impressive pop. "And if you try and work your nWo magic and screw Sting at Starrcade then you better start running cause half the roster will be after you." Bischoff again tries to interject but Piper cuts him off. "And what about Zbyszko? Who you think he's gonna pick? I'd say someone whose maybe been screwed by the nWo but that is everyone from Arn Anderson to the Steiners, hell even Me." Piper then drops the mic and leaves the ring as Bischoff is left standing with fear in his eyes, realizing that anyone could be Zbyszko's choice, even Piper. The commentary team is going mental mentioning everyone under the sun as Zbyszko's possible choice with names from WCW's past like El Gigante, Abdullah the Butcher and Tully Blanchard are all seriously discussed. Even Zbyszko's former mentor Bruno Sammartino, aged 62 is mentioned by Heenan. Zbyszko adress the crowd. He says his choice is former World Champion (so much for El Gigante). He says he is well known for his past as a villain but in recent times has accepted the fans support. He is also the master of a very well known submission move. Commentary is now convinced it's Terry Funk or possibly Ronnie Garvin. I was there in 1983 and won the gold, I won it 10 years later, hell I'll probably win it in 2003! Hall you can't beat me at my show, in my company, in front of my fans. Woo!" Flair breaks from his promo hits the ropes and elbow drops the ring. "The nWo took everything from me, Hall. You took my best friends career and mocked him. You took my Horsemen. I'll die before I let you take WCW! Hall I blame you for this more than anyone. More than Hogan. More than Nash. More than that weasel Bischoff. Because you're an instigator. You were the first man! You know that both groups are going to be paying close attention to this one. Savage is definitely the better technical wrestler of the two but Luger has the strength advantage which he exploits overpowering Savage. Luger attacks Savage's back with lots of power moves trying to soften him up for the torture rack. Savage fights back attacking Luger's right arm trying to prevent him applying that torture rack. Luger regains control again after countering an Irish Whip sending Savage back first into the post. Luger signals for it, It's Torture Rack time. He locks it in but lets go of Savage's legs with his injured arm, allowing Savage to "accidentally" kick down referee Charles Robinson. Luger releases the hold and Savage falls to the mat in pain. Luger is down on his knees as Scott Hall run downs to the ring baseball bat in hand.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Hall.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Luger looks up just in time to be waffled in the head with the bat and crumples unconscious to the mat. Hall helps Savage up who goes for the Top Rope Elbow. He hits as Charles Robinson comes round to find Savage covering the unconscious Luger. 1-2-3 and it's all over. Half of Nitro next week will be under nWo control. Eddy Guerrero vs. Ultimo Dragon

Eddy Guerrero looked to get a win to gain momentum heading into his title defence this Sunday by beating the man Malenko beat to win the number 1 contendership. In a quick high-flying contest, both men put on a lucha spectacle with plenty of high-flying moves. Guerrero ultimately came out on top after hitting a top rope Frog Splash for the three count.

Winner: Eddy Guerrero by pinfall at 6:49

Alex Wright vs. Dean Malenko

Dean Malenko also was looking to prepare for Guerrero but first had to try and get passed the Wunderkind. Wright went for a lot of his high-flying offence while Malenko used his raw technical prowess to attempt to maintain control. Malenko was dominating this match until he was distracted by Eddy Guerrero coming to ringside.

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Eddy_Guerrero.jpg

Wright tried to take advantage of the situation with an attempted Top Rope Hurracanrana however Malenko countered with a Powerbomb with a rolling pin for the three count.

Winner: Dean Malenko by pinfall at 6:16

Raven is seen backstage as he is interviewed about Benoit's upcoming title match for the Television Title. If Benoit is victorious, he will face Raven at Starrcade. Raven says that Benoit has no chance of beating Saturn tonight and that Raven looks forward to watching Benoit's destruction tonight. "Quote the Raven, Nevermore"

Chris Benoit vs. Perry Saturn [c]

Saturn is all that stands between Benoit and his opportunity to get his hands on Raven. The TV champion aims to defend his title once again and save his ally from the ruthless agression of Benoit. Saturn starts as the aggressor, proving to be a tougher opponent than any of the rest of the Flock. Benoit eventually counters an attempted punch into a brutal German Suplex, Saturn's attempts to block the move knock down the referee. Benoit signals for the Diving Headbutt and climbs the ropes.

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Raven.jpg

Raven runs interference, lead pipe straight to Benoit's skull and he's out. Benoit flops off the top rope. Saturn's back up and climbs the ropes, he hits the Flying Elbowdrop as the referee comes around. The ref counts 1-2-3. Saturn has saved Raven at Starrcade.

Winner: Perry Saturn by pinfall at 15:14

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Hall.jpg

Hall throws Flair about and finishes off with a brutal Outsider's Edge through a table, leaving a bloody mess of Flair on the floor. "See you Sunday, Chico"

Harlem Heat vs. Ray Traylor & Rick Martel

We finish the WCW controlled portion of Nitro with a match with the number 1 contenders to the Tag Team titles against a team who combined have lost a combined total of 6 times in the month of December. Needless to say most expected Harlem Heat to dominate. However, Traylor and Martel put up a hell of a fight, with a performance that rolled back the years. Traylor and Martel managed to isolate Stevie Ray for a while, making quick tags and lots of double teaming. The team also come several times within a heartbeat of beating Harlem Heat. However, it wasn't to be as Booker got the hot tag and cleared house following up with Missile Dropkick on Traylor for the win. The announcers solemnly wish us well in the nWo controlled portion of the show and hope for the future of WCW that Flair wins on Sunday.

Winner: Harlem Heat by pinfall at 11:42 (Booker T over Ray Traylor)

Grade: C-

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Logos/nWo.jpg

The screen becomes static as the nWo establish their control. "The following broadcast has been paid for by the New World Order." The nWo theme blasts out the speakers as Bischoff, Hogan, Nash & Hall enter the ring.

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Eric_Bischoff.jpghttp://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Hollywood_Hogan.jpghttp://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Kevin_Nash.jpghttp://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Hall.jpg

Bischoff welcomes the fans to the dawn of a glorious new era for the nWo and the redefining of the wrestling world as we know it. All the members hype their respective matches at Starrcade, with Bischoff confiming Buff Bagwell vs. Lex Luger. Bischoff and Hogan head to the commentary booth to announce this portion of the show. Bischoff announces on the mic that the next match is to add more of a nWo presence at Starrcade as Vicious and Delicious are going to face the Tag Team Champions with the titles on the line! And in the main event as Sting is too much of a coward to step in the ring at Starrcade, the #1 contender to the US Title, DDP will face "Macho Man" Randy Savage.

The Steiner Brothers [c] vs. Vicious and Delicious

The team of Norton and Bagwell have a chance to advance to Starrcade by beating the Steiners. They take the earlier advantage as Norton in particular dominates Rick Steiner using his raw power. However Bagwell ends up giving Rick the chance he needs to tag Scott Steiner. Scotty flattens Norton and Bagwell, hitting suplex after suplex. He eventually hits a devasting Frankensteiner on Bagwell driving him head first to the mat for the three. Both Hogan and Bishcoff, who had spent the match discussing themselves, are furious.

Winner: The Steiner Brothers by pinfall at 13:50 (Scott Steiner over Buff Bagwell)

Grade: C

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Kevin_Nash.jpg

Nash comes out to the ring confirms he will face The Giant at Starrcade, if Giant isn't a Giant chicken. Cue The Giant who marches to the ring not saying a thing.

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/The_Giant.jpg

He charges Nash and the two begin to brawl. Looks like it's on at Starrcade! Bischoff and Hogan are discussing the possibily of other nWo branded products including nWo toothpaste, nWo timeshares and nWo soda.

Grade: B

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Randy Savage w/ Elizabeth

Our nWo sponsored main event sees Savage who is given a extravagant entrance complete with pyrotechnics facing off with DDP, who gets what sounds suspiciously like Hogan's attempts at playing Smells Like Teenage Spirit, in place of his proper theme. Bischoff even makes a joke about Hogan's guitar playing days, which is met with icy silence from Hollywood. Any way to the match in the ring and Page is quickly rushed by Savage, who clearly was more prepared. Page only had a short space of time to prepare for this match. They exchange holds with Savage dominating the contest. Savage attempts a double axe handle late on the match which Dallas counters into a Diamond Cutter. Page with the pin and the three as Bischoff and Hollywood stop discussing Hogan's upcoming role in 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain and are collectively screaming down the mic for someone to do something.

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page by pinfall at 17:42

Grade: C+

Quickly, Hall, Nash, Hennig and Konnan rush the ring together with Savage they proceed to beat down DDP. As the fans begin to toss trash into the ring Bischoff and Hogan make their way into the ring. The beatdown continues as Page has to be held up to stand when suddenly blackout.

Grade: C+

The fans are screaming as they know what comes next. The lights point to the rafters as deathly figure is seen looking down on the nWo. The camera zooms in and we can see it clearly.

It's Sting!!!

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Sting.jpg

He rappels to the ring, baseball bat in hand as the nWo keep their distance and once he releases his harness he goes straight at the nWo in the ring, flattening everyone in his path with the bat. Eventually only Hogan, Hall, Nash and Bischoff are left standing. Sting decks the Outsiders, grabs the squirming Bischoff and hits the Scorpion Death Drop, the he turns on Hogan and points at him and Hogan looks afraid for the first time in a long time. Hogan is backed into a corner and Sting hits a Stinger splash as the crows erupts. Stinger splash after Stinger splash on Hogan until he falls to the mat and rolls out the ring. Sting is left standing alone the sole survivor. Will the same happen this Sunday?

I'm gonna give this a shot but honestly WCW in 97 looking back was such a cluster ** that I'm surprised I even watched it. I've d/l'd this mod but the lifestyles and the sheer roster size didn't appeal to me. Good luck righting this ship its not too far of course yet :)

It's not too bad once you get into although attitudes and lifestyles are a bit of a challenge. I personally think part of the fun is taking a company like WCW and trying to fix all the stuff that went wrong. Like having a massive roster of talent they don't use. After Starrcade, quite a few people are getting fired.

Also Beejus I just started reading your WCW diary and its awesome and hopefully someday I can catch up with it.

Anyway thanks for reading :D

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Chris_Adams.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Fit_Finlay.jpg

Chris Adams vs. Fit Finlay

Fit Finlay having recently had issues with Regal now faced off against his associate Chris Adams. Adams was no match for the Irishman who made quick work of The Gentleman, finishing him off with a Tombstone Piledriver

Winner: Fit Finlay by pinfall at 5:14

Grade: D-

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Chris_Benoit.jpg & http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Dean_Malenko.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Eddy_Guerrero.jpg & http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Steven_Regal.jpg

Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko vs. Eddy Guerrero & Steven Regal

In an absolute barn burner four of the best up and comers in WCW squared off in tag team action. Two are set to square off for the Cruiserweight title, Regal has his sights on Finlay and Benoit was cruelly denied his chance at Raven on Nitro. These four showed exactly what they can offer WCW, and had the commentary team speculating that all 4 men could well be future WCW World Champions. After a technical clinic, Regal was on the receiving end of a Dragon Suplex and pin by Benoit, and couldn't kick out as Malenko intercepted Guerrero.

Winner: Benoit & Malenko by pinfall at 12:19 (Benoit over Regal)

Grade: C+

Following their victory Malenko and Benoit are heading to the back, as the fans applaud the outstanding match they just had. Malenko, is already in the back as Benoit stop to savour the cheers. Suddenly, Benoit is rushed and assaulted by Raven and Saturn.

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Raven.jpghttp://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Perry_Saturn.jpg

The two continue their assault on Benoit, dragging him to the ring and using a steel chair on a defenceless Benoit. After knocking down Benoit, Raven shuts Benoit's hand in the chair and repeatedly stomps on it. After they are finished Pillmaizing Benoit, Raven and Saturn pose and leave as Benoit lies crippled on the floor.

Grade: D

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Steiner.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Stevie_Ray.jpg

Scott Steiner vs. Stevie Ray

Two halves of the tag team title match at Starrcade faced off here. Scott Steiner has been dominating recently in WCW and that good run of form continued here tonight with a victory over the senior member of Harlem Heat. Scott once again bossed around his opposition, tossing around Stevie like a cruiserweight. Eventually leading to a Frankensteiner which drove Stevie Ray head first into the mat, followed by a three count.

Winner: Scott Steiner by pinfall at 14:44

Grade: C-

Having successfully defeated Stevie Ray, Scott Steiner "asks" for a mic. He proceeds to tell Booker T that at Starrcade that he will have no "sympy" for Harlem Heat in their tag title match. Confusing as always Steiner proceeds to rant for a good length about nothing in particular, although it is somewhat censored. However, the fans enjoy it and it's very entertaining.

Grade: C+

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Raven.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Rey_Mysterio.jpg

Raven vs. Rey Misterio Jnr.

Raven faced off against Rey Misterio Jnr. in an interesting clash of styles. Misterio once again uses his insane high flying skills. Raven was more eager to have a good old fashioned brawl. With Benoit seemingly out of his way for the night, Raven put in a strong showing. Misterio was no push over however showing he is more than capable of mixing it up with the heavyweights. However it was Raven's night as he won following a brutal Piledriver.

Winner: Raven by pinfall at 14:39

Grade: C-

After the match Raven demands a microphone, he speaks to Benoit. Telling him he didn't want to destroy him, he still wants to save him. At Starrcade, Benoit can gain salvation by having a rematch with Saturn, and if Benoit wins he gets Raven next month at Souled Out. However, Raven warns he has an ace in the hole and his "secret weapon" will be watching closely.

Grade: C-

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Curt_Hennig.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Rick_Martel.jpg

Curt Hennig vs. Rick Martel

Rick Martel was trying to bring an end to his month long losing streak here, but the US Champion is not a man to be taken lightly. Two of the most experienced members of the WCW roster, these two had a great match as you could sense that Martel's confidence was boosted by his impressive tag team match last week. However, Hennig eventually took control through his nefarious ways, after an illegal low blow outside of the referee's vision Hennig hit the Hennig-plex for the three count.

Winner: Curt Hennig by pinfall at 10:12

Grade: C+

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/DDP.jpg

We cut to the back where we are presented with DDP. He cuts a promo on Hennig, claiming if Hennig had to cheat to win against Martel, then he doesn't stand a shot against DDP. Furthermore, Page comments on how when he wins the US title at Starrcade, its gonna serve as his stepping stone to the top, the WCW Word Title! The fans are definitely happy with this comment and Page seems popular with the fanbase.

Grade: B+

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Booker_T.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Rick_Steiner.jpg

Booker T vs. Rick Steiner

Our main event saw the other halves of Harlem Heat and the Steiner Brothers face off. Booker T has been in great form recently, undefeated in single competition since the start of December. Rick meanwhile has only had one singles match this month a loss to Meng, with help from Stevie Ray. Suprisingly to some this was the match of the night, impressive given the tag team opener. These two were eager to prove what they had, Booker T in particular going all out. Rick used his usual suplex heavy offence to try and boss around Booker but T wasn't having any of it, replying with quick aggressive offence. The commentary team are singing both men's praises, declaring both to be two of the best in WCW. This match is finally brought to a close by Booker T hitting a Harlem Hangover on Rick Steiner for the three.

Winner: Booker T by pinfall at 14:36

Grade: C+

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Stevie_Ray.jpg

Stevie Ray runs out gingerly, still feeling the effects of his mauling by Scott Steiner. Together Harlem Heat start brutalizing Steiner. The commentary team are up in arms as the fans chant for Scotty Steiner to appear, however for some reason the junior Steiner doesn't appear and Harlem Heat close Saturday Night to a chorus of boos as they stand over an unconscious Rick Steiner

Grade: C

WCW Starrcade 1997

Live from the Glorious Georgia Dome, Atlanta, Georgia

Official Match Card

WCW World Heavyweight Championship

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Belts/WCW_World_nWo.jpg

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Hollywood_Hogan2.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Sting.jpg

Hollywood Hogan [c] vs. Sting

The match a year in the making, Sting stands alone independent of both WCW and nWo. He hasn't has a match in over a year but has made his intentions clear, Hogan and his nWo are on Sting's hit list. Hogan will try anything to retain his title.

nWo TV vs. Hall's World Title Match at SuperBrawl VIII

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Ric_Flair.jpg w/ http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Larry_Zbyszko.jpg vs.http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Hall.jpg w/ http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Eric_Bischoff.jpg

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair w/ "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko vs. Scott Hall w/ Eric Bischoff

The future of WCW programming hangs in the balance as Flair faces off against Scott Hall. Blaming Hall and the nWo for his recent misfortunes, The Nature Boy has made it his personal quest to remove the nWo once and for all and he's starting with the original Outsider. Hall is risking his World Championship match earned at World War 3, on his victory tonight.

The Battle of the Giants

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Kevin_Nash.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/The_Giant.jpg

Kevin Nash vs. The Giant

These two behemoths are two of the tallest professional wrestlers in history so a face off between the two was inevitable. Nash has taken excpetion to The Giant's ring name, calling himself the only real Giant in WCW. This won't be a technical contest and should be close to a street fight as these two air their grievances.

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Belts/WCW_US.jpg

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Curt_Hennig.jpg w/ http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Rick_Rude.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/DDP.jpg

Curt Hennig w/ "Ravishing" Rick Rude vs. Diamond Dallas Page

Curt Hennig issued an open challenge for a US title match at Starrcade. Step forward DDP. Both men are riding high momentum going into this match but it could go either way.

Who is the real "Total Package"?

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Buff_Bagwell.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Lex_Luger.jpg

"The Only Total Package" Buff Bagwell vs. "Total Package" Lex Luger

This match was set up following Buff Bagwell repeated verbal attacks on Luger, culminating in a match being agreed to. Buff has claimed he is a real total package unlike the washed up Luger.

WCW World Tag Team Championship

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Belts/WCW_World_Tag_Team.jpg

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Booker_T.jpg & http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Stevie_Ray.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Rick_Steiner.jpg & http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Steiner.jpg

Harlem Heat vs. The Steiner Brothers

These two teams clashed recently but it has escalated quickly. Stevie Ray & Booker T claim that unlike the Steiners they have had to fight there way to the top. The Steiners took exception and now this battle between brothers look set to head to a climax tonight.

Who scared the Bear?

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Goldberg.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Steve_McMichael.jpg

Goldberg vs. Steve "Mongo" McMichael

Mongo has recently been attacking the young rookie Goldberg. It would appear McMichael feels intimated and insecure in his position and seeks to remove anyway that may take his place. Namely the man with the 10-0 undefeated streak Goldberg.

The Waring Classes

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Fit_Finlay.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Steven_Regal.jpg

Fit Finlay vs. "Lord" Steven Regal

Nothing quite like tension between the classes. Two sides of the same coin, Regal and Finlay have taken a clear disliking to each other. Despite their similar styles, highly technical yet still featuring brawling, these two can't stand each other. Regal was the instigator branding Finlay a no good commoner and a ruffian. Finlay hasn't taken well to being insulted and has challenged Regal to a match.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Belts/WCW_Cruiserweight.jpg

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Dean_Malenko.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Eddy_Guerrero.jpg

Dean Malenko vs. Eddy Guerrero [c]

Two of the most skilled wrestlers in the world square off for one of the most prestigious titles. Malenko and Guerrero unlike most wrestlers haven't engaged in a war of words, letting their in ring skill do the talking. Both men are incredibly skilled, while Guerrero has the speed advantage, the Man of a 1,000 Holds technical prowess is astounding. This should be a hell of a match.

Raven's Rules Match for the WCW World Television Championship

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Belts/WCW_TV.jpg

http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Chris_Benoit.jpg vs. http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Perry_Saturn.jpg w/ http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Raven.jpg

Having been denied his chance against Raven tonight after taking out almost all of the Flock single handed, Benoit can instead earn "Redemption" by defeating Saturn tonight. However, it's a Raven's Rules match. Saturn is going to feel right at home in his master's domain. And with Raven's "Secret Weapon" looming large, will Benoit earn his "Redemption" and the WCW World Television Title?

Chris Jericho vs. Juventud Guerrera vs. Rey Misterio Jnr. vs. Ultimo Dragon

The most recent addition to the Starrcade card sees 4 of the top crusierweights in WCW square off for the chance to face off against the Crusierweight champion at Souled Out next month. This should be a fast paced and frantic opener filled with exciting action.

The four split into pairs as Jericho and Dragon square off and Guerrera and Misterio battle. Jericho gains the upperhand on Dragon, decking him with a spinning heel kick. Misterio and Guerrera have spilt to the floor with Misterio hitting an insane suicide dive on Guerrea. Jericho picks up Dragon and sends him out on top of the brawling luchadores and takes a moment to savour this crowd before hitting a springboard plancha to the outside. Misterio makes it into the ring first and brings Ultimo Dragon with him. The two have a back and forth sequence of close falls, as Jericho and Guerrera brawl on the floor. Jericho drops Guerrera on the steel guardrail stomach first, as the crowd audibly gasps. Dragon has Misterio down and is up top, until Jericho shoves him off the top to the mat, Jericho then hits a lionsault and goes for the liontamer Misterio breaks up the hold with a brutal drop kick to Jericho's head. Misterio gets Dragon on his feet, even though Ultimo can barely stand, and hits a Springboard Hurracanrana, hooking the legs. 3 count he got him! Saturn comes out next with his WCW TV title, and his sinister puppet master Raven. Raven's threat of a secret weapon looms large over this match. Benoit stands in the ring with his eyes locked on both men and the remnants of the Flock stare back. Saturn eventually enters the ring and the referee has to separate the two before the match can begin. Eventually the bell is rung and these to go at it. Both men charge at each other and comes to blows, Saturn eventually flattens Benoit with a short arm clothesline. Saturn eagerly presses his advantage and continues in the assault with repeated elbow drops on Benoit face. We cut to Raven at ringside standing stoically, Dusty tells us he thinks that Raven is a sick weirdo to do the things he does in public. Back in the ring Saturn has picked up Benoit and slams him back down with a crisp T-Bone suplex. The fans are voicing their displeasure at Saturn's success, they came to see Benoit kick his ass. Saturn grabs Benoit and German Suplexes him and now starts to attack his arm and neck, possibly setting up for his dreaded Death Valley Driver at the same time trying to prevent Benoit from using his submission offence. Schiavone notes that these two haven't been using weapons much for a Raven's Rules match. Almost on cue after Benoit kicks out after a strange neckbreaker-fisherman suplex thing at 2. Saturn heads to the ropes and screams at Raven to get him some chairs, Raven complies and inserts 2 chairs into the ring from the ringside area. Saturn grabs one and wedges it at the turnbuckle. He picks up another chair and starts slamming it on Benoit's hands. Benoit is screaming in pain, Saturn must be looking to neutralise Benoit submission offence. He puts Benoit's arm in the chair and repeatedly Pillmanizes it. Saturn picks up a barely conscious Benoit and goes to throw him into the wedged chair but Benoit hooks the front of Saturn's trunks and trips him and he goes headfirst into the chair. Saturn is out! Benoit struggles to his feet his hands limp, he struggles to grab the chair and slams it repeatedly into Saturn who writhes in pain. Raven looks on with a blank face. Benoit tosses down a chair behind him and screams to the crowd it's over as Saturn gets up with his back to Benoit, Benoit locks the arms into a full nelson, then hits a Dragon Suplex driving Saturn head first into a chair. Saturn is knocked out and goes limp. Benoit rolls on top of Saturn. 1 ... 2 ... 3! Benoit wins. He is the new TV Champion and gets to face Raven next month at Souled Out.</p><p> Winner: Chris Benoit by pinfall at 14:22</p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p> </p><p> Benoit is handed his belt and is celebrating in the ring. His eyes lock onto Raven's and the two stare each other down, knowing full well they will face off next month. Benoit smiles as Raven looks almost afraid. Schiavone and Dusty are speculating that Raven's Secret Weapon was an empty threat and just him trying to psych out Benoit. These two are undoubtedly two of the absolute in the world and you can only see the best in WCW, boasts Schiavone. These two quickly lockup and Malenko comes out on top going for a headlock, and taking Guerrero down. Malenko continues to use his technical prowess to dominate the early going hitting suplexes of every variety, and going for submissions to wear down Guerrero. However as Malenko attempts a piledriver Guerrero counters to a backdrop and gains control, hitting all kinds of high-flying offence. Dusty says these two are the future of WCW and he may be right. These two are now trading moves with no real dominator until Malenko counters Guerrero attempt at a running attack with a brutal Spinebuster. Malenko attempts to lock in his Texas Cloverleaf but Guerrero goes for a roll up but only get a two. The two get back to their feet and Guerrero hits a sick Powerbomb and climbs to the top. "He's feeling froggy!" proclaims Schiavone and Guerrero hits his patented Frog Splash. Pinfall and a three count lead to Guerrero defending his title. The crowd weren't too eager to cheer Finlay but were more than happy to boo Lord Regal. These two put in a technical masterclass, with a match almost resembling the technical contests of the Golden Age of British Wrestling. Despite this the fans weren't interested and mercifully it ended quickly as Regal submitted Finlay with the Regal Strech. Heenan is extremely please at Regal's victory while Schiavone and Dusty are more interested promoting Hogan vs. Sting.</p><p> Winner: Steven Regal by submission at 8:34</p><p> <strong>Grade: D+</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37218" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Rick_Steiner.jpg</span><span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Steiner.jpg</span></p><p> We cut to the backstage area and the locker room of The Steiner Brothers. The fans cheer for there heroes. Rick is talking to Scott and is discussing their plan against Harlem Heat, Scotty is more interested in his own thoughts. Rick berates Scotty for not listening and the two argue a little, with Rick making an interesting comment about how he doesn't like those guys that Scotty is hanging with. This infuriates Scotty who says he's looking out for them and storms out the room. People were beginning to turn on the match but then Goldberg took control, and the beat down of Mongo began. Goldberg absolutely dominated and finished Mongo with a Spear. Scott Steiner and Booker T started out and these two showed us why they had been so successful in singles competition nothing could seperate either man as they traded moves back and forth. The fans really got back into the show for this match. Eventually both men broke up and switched with their partners. Rick charge at Stevie and straight away began with the suplex and takedown offence from his amateur days. Stevie was trying to get a more physical brawling type of match but every time Rick had an answer until Stevie got a low blow while Booker distracted the ref. Now Harlem Heat dominated as they quickly tagged with Booker and Stevie hitting all sorts of combination moves including a seldom seen Doomsday Device and the combination bulldog the Steiners use. The crowd is showering them with boos until Rick counters an Sidewalk Slam attempt by Stevie Ray with a desperation clothesline. Both men are down and begin to crawl to their corners as the crowd cheers Rick on, who slowly crawls to his corner only to stop when he sees a set of boots in front of him. He stands up to see Scotty looking back. Rick is hearding shouting at Scotty telling him he needs to tag him Scotty just looks back. He kicks Rick in the gut "He ain't getting up from this" and hits a Steiner Screwdriver on his brother. The crowd audibly gasp. Rick is out and Scott leaves the ring and heads to the back as fans pelt him with their trash. Harlem Heat and Charles Robinson stand still in shock as the commentary team lose their minds. Heenan is over the moon that Scott has ditched his no good brother, while Dusty is sad to see such a staple as the Steiners gone, Schiavone is just silent. Stevie quickly tags Booker who climbs to the top and hits a Harlem Hoangover on a prone Rick Steiner, a three count later and Harlem Heat are the WCW World Tag Team Champions. Schiavone quite rightly says this match will live on in WCW history as the end of the Steiner Brothers.</p><p> Winner: Harlem Heat by pinfall at 12:41 (Booker T over Rick Steiner)</p><p> <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37218" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Buff_Bagwell.jpg</span> vs. <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Lex_Luger.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Buff Bagwell vs. Lex Luger</p><p> </p><p> Arguably the most disappointing match of the night. Page floored Hennig with an atomic drop and signalled for a Diamond Cutter, he's looking to end it early. However, Rude pulled Hennig from the ring to the outside saving his friend. DDP climbs the top rope and hits a suprisingly good splash on both men. Rolling Hennig back into the ring DDP nearly gets put away by a small package by Hennig. Once again these two exchange moves and attempt to gain control. Hennig shows why he is considered one of the best technicians ever putting on a wrestling master class with the less experienced Page, hitting textbook slams and suplexs. Hennig goes for his Hennig Plex but is countered by Page into a Swinging Neckbreaker. DDP calls for the Diamond Cutter again, and picks up Hennig and is about to Diamond Cutter Hennig when he sees Rude on the apron, he goes over and tells Rude to get down. Referee Billy Silverman tries to split these two up and Rude takes advantage and pokes Dallas in the eye above the referee's head. Page recoils and turns into a Hennig Plex. Most went into this expecting a repeat of Bagwell vs. Luger, but Giant and Nash both showcased why they are considered two of the best big men. Nash began on the offence on the larger Giant attacking his legs, trying to rob the Giant of his superior height. In a moment that got cheers from the crowd Nash actually managed to hit a Sidewalk Slam on Giant, much to the fans delight. However, he was less lucky going for a Jacknife, unable to lift the Giant, he was countered into a brutal Alabama Slam. The Giant then overpowered Nash, hitting all kinds of moves some even suprising for a man his size including a Vader Bomb and Moonsault which had the fans on their feet. In the end The Giant managed what many would consider impossible and defeated Nash with a Chokeslam, somehow picking up the massive Nash. The Giant showed exactly why he is a force to be reckoned with.</p><p> Winner: The Giant by pinfall at 14:44</p><p> <strong>Grade: B-</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37218" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p>nWo TV vs. #1 Contender vs. WCW Champion at Superbrawl VIII</p></div><p> </p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Ric_Flair.jpg</span> vs. <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Scott_Hall.jpg</span> w/ <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Eric_Bischoff.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Ric Flair vs. Scott Hall w/ Eric Bischoff</p><p> </p><p> The future of WCW hangs in the balance as nWo tv looms large. Zbyszko is notably absent from Flair's side, with commentary speculating about Zbyszko's loyalties whereas Dusty says he thinks Zbyszko believes Flair won't need any help. Flair and Hall lock up and Flair presses the advantage backing Hall into the corner and chops him on the break. The two lock up again and this time Hall backs Flair into the corner on the break he slicks his hair back and flicks his wrists at Flair to a chorus of boos. They lock up a third time and this time Flair shoves Hall back and lets out a loud "Woooo!" at Hall. Flair begins to press the advantage applying a headlock and driving Hall's face into his knee. Hall goes down and Flair instantly goes after his knees to soften him up for the Figure 4. He drapes Hall's leg on the bottom rope and drops onto it repeatedly. These normally heel tactics have the fans behind Flair. Even Flair's old rival Dusty on commentary is pulling for Naitch. Flair continues his offence Irish Whipping Hall to the corner. Flair grabs a leg and rolls out of the ring pulling Hall next to the post he applies the Figure 4 around the post, Hall writhes in agony. Flair breaks before the five count and Charles Robinson is checking on Hall. Bischoff has been lingering behind Flair and attempts a karate chop, much to Dusty's amusement. Flair nosells and turns to face him as Easy E looks like he has seen a ghost as Flair looks like the same Flair who beat Harley Race 14 years ago. The spirit of what WCW stands for, what the NWA stood for is staring him down. Bischoff tries to run but Flair grabs him, he's waited months for this. He rams Bischoff head first into the post and knocks Eric out. Hall takes advantage and grabs Flair's hair to pull him into the ring. Now Hall is in charge. He whips Flair into the turnbuckle and Flair flips over the top and gets clotheslined on the apron by Hall. Flair falls to the apron and to the floor. Hall isn't wasting any time and goes right after him, rolling Flair into the ring. The Bad Guy presses his advantage hitting Flair with everything he's got but Flair won't stay down. He eventually takes Flair and hits a Super Fall Away Slam. Schiavone declares that's gotta be it. Cover and once again a 2, 2.999 but still only 2. This crowd is 100 percent behind Flair and are becoming increasingly vocal. Bischoff finally gets back to his feet having spent quite a while on the floor and starts to complain to the ref about Flair attacking. Hall has one last resort, and grabs Flair for the Outsider's Edge. As Hall sticks out his arms to pose Flair drops down and low blow! The commentary team and the fans go crazy as Flair has brought himself back into the match. Hall falls to the mat and Flair gets back to his feet. He exits the ring and sneaks up behind Easy E. Flair taps on his shoulder and Eric turns slowly into a manic Flair who promptly decks him with a single punch. Flair stands him back up rips his nWo shirt and begins to chop his chest repeatedly as the crowd cheers Easy E getting his just deserts. Flair then heads into the ring and locks in the Figure Four Leg Lock. Hall struggles frantically trying to escape, screaming in agony desperately clawing to keep his title shot. But it's too much Hall has tapped! Scott Hall has tapped out!!! Flair is going to Superbrawl VIII as the number one contender. The fans go mental as commentary begin to celebrate. 2 members of the founding trio of the nWo are down, 1 to go?</p><p> Winner: Ric Flair by submission at 18:43</p><p> <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37218" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/2lRgaz6zgkg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p></div><p> </p><p> A brief video plays letting us know it is now time the match a year in the making, Hogan vs. Sting is next.</p><p> <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p> </p><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37218" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-size:18px;"><strong>WCW World Heavyweight Championship</strong></span></p></div><p><span style="font-size:18px;"> </span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Belts/WCW_World_nWo.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Hollywood_Hogan2.jpg</span> vs. <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Sting.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> Hollywood Hogan [c] vs. Sting</p><p> </p><p> Michael Buffer is in the ring. "Ladies and gentlemen. Are you Ready?" Cheers "Wrestling fans, are you Rrrrrrrrrrrrreeeady!!!!" Cheers! "For the thousands in attendance and the millions watching around the world. Atlanta, Georgia, Let's Get Ready to Rrrrrrruuuuuuuuuumble!!!!" Hollywood enters first, as the instrumental version of Voodoo Child plays over the speakers the crowd erupts in boos. Hogan comes out as arrogant as ever, playing his belt like a guitar. Hogan is in the ring posing confidently then the lights go out. A white laser effect is mapping out images of Sting's face and scorpions as lightening is heard. Some quite creepy narration plays. "When a man's heart is full of deceit, it burns up, dies and a dark shadow falls over his soul. From the ashes of a once great man has risen a curse. A wrong that must be righted. We look to the skies for a vindicator, someone to strike fear into the black hearts of the same man who created him. The battle between good and evil has begun. Against an army of shadows comes a dark warrior, the purveyor of good with the voice of silence and a mission of justice. This is Sting" The fans are about to explode at this point in anticipation. Then Sting walks down the ramp, face emotionless. This already hot crowd goes thermonuclear. The commentary team can barely be heard as these fans cheer on their chosen champion. He walks to the ring baseball bat in hand, the rest of the nWo can't be seen. Heenan suggests they have jumped the sinking ship like a bunch of rats. Hogan hasn't received this negative reception since Bash at the Beach 1996. These two icons are now standing face to face, Randy Anderson presents the belt to both men, Hogan smiles and motions around his waist. Sting does nothing. The bell is rung and this match is underway. Hogan charges at Sting with a clothesline, and clobbers Sting. Sting doesn't react. Hogan tries again and again no reaction. Hogan is beginning to freak out, again he charges, no reaction. Hogan starts yelling at Sting and Sting clotheslines Hogan knocking Hogan to the mat. Hogan get back up but is once again met by a clothesline and fall back down. Again Hogan gets up but this time Sting grabs him for a vertical suplex and hits it. Sting is in charge and these fans love it. He Irish whips Hogan and hits a kitchen sink knee to the gut. He grabs Hogan and kicks him in the gut. Picks Hollywood back up and hits a Samoan Drop. Hogan rolls to the outside and attempts to take a time out no such luck as Sting runs up to the top rope and hits a splash to Hogan on the outside. Sting quickly pops back up and throws Hogan into the ring, Sting rolls in and grabs the legs, he's going for the Scorpion Deathlock! Hogan powers out and gets to his feet. Hogan begins to fight back now, hitting a scoop slam on Sting and locking in a reverse chinlock. Sting manages to power out but his comeback is halted by a boot to the gut by Hogan who whips Sting into the ropes and hits a big Spinning Side Slam, Ray Traylor would be proud. Hogan follows up with stomps to Sting's face and taunts to the crowd, who respond with jeers for the Hulkster. Hogan picks up Sting and whips him to the corner and hits a superplex and attempts a pin. Only 2! Hogan isn't happy and tells Randy Anderson exactly how he feels. He gets Sting up and punches him once, twice, Irish Whip followed by the Big Boot. We know what's next Hogan off the ropes with the legdrop and the cover. 1-2-Kickout!!! Hogan can't believe it, Andre was beaten with that move and Sting kicked out! Sting gets back to his feet and Hogan backs away in fear, Sting grabs him and whips him into the corner. He charges in, Stinger Splash! Whip to the opposite corner another Stinger Splash! One Handed Bulldog and Sting howls at the crowd and the Little Stingers cheer back. Dusty says Sting is back and he means business. Sting grabs Hogan up and turns him around, Scorpion Death Drop! Sting covers 1-2-3!!!!! Sting Wins. The roof is blown off the arena as this sizzling crowd boils over, Heenan is screaming "YES, YES, YES, HE DID IT!" Dusty is spouting over excited jibberish and Schiavone is speechless. Sting is presented with the WCW World Heavyweight Title and holds it up as pyro erupts throughout the arena. Sting theme plays as the ring is showered in confetti. These people are overcome with excitement.</p><p> Winner: Sting by pinfall at 14:38</p><p> <strong>Grade: A</strong></p><p> </p><p> Tony Schiavone wishes us a good night and encourages us to catch Nitro tomorrow to see how the nWo reacts to its worst night ever. However he is interrupted by the lights shutting out all over the arena. The cheers quieten as fans don't know how to react and what is going. Cameras flash as people try to capture what is happening. A familar but legally distinct guitar riff starts. Suddenly lights come back on but his time they aren't white. They are pink. And standing in the ring face to face with Sting is wrestling's hottest free agent, the man who got screwed for real, who spelt out WCW on WWF's PPV. Sting is face to face with Bret Hart, the fans now lose it. </p><p> <span>http://i881.photobucket.com/albums/ac19/solidliquid777/Roster/Bret_Hart.jpg</span></p><p> Hart looks at Sting looks at the WCW World Heavyweight Title then back to Sting. <p>Awesome Starrcade! Great that you pulled an A out of the main event, which your version was exactly how it should have gone in real life. Bret Hart leaves a bunch of possibilities and should present great matches between Sting and Hart.</p><p> </p><p>

I was really surprised to see Scott Hall in your time decline. Looking forward to the next show!</p>
