WCW 2001: Can Bischoff survive on his own?

Recommended Posts

So I know what you're thinking; Another WCW diary?! I've tossed up the idea of doing this. I had started a dynasty with Genadi's mod for TEW 2010 and it was abandoned after TEW 2013 came out. This will once again be using Genadi's WCW Lives mod for TEW 2013. It begins in May 2001 with Eric Bischoff as owner, backed by Fusient Media Ventures. I hope I'm able to keep a compelling story, I hope everyone gets interested. So without further a due, I present my version of WCW surviving in 2001.

Editor's Note:

I am very far ahead in this game. Please bear with me at the beginning as I have to go back and try to remember all storylines, etc. I may not make very long written shows but I will do my best to keep it exciting. I welcome predictions and I will try to wait awhile before posting shows. I have a lot of them and it will be very tough for me to give plenty of time for predictions. The more I have, the longer I will be more inclined to wait before posting shows.

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="color:#8B0000;">McMahon and the WWF back out of WCW Purchase!</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

In what was thought to be a done deal, Vince McMahon backed out of purchasing World Championship Wrestling from AOL/Time Warner Inc. Indeed WCW was sold, however in a shock offer, Eric Bischoff, backed by a newfound company Fusient Media Ventures, purchased WCW for an unknown sum. In the purchase, they obtain all contracts as well as the video library that McMahon was heard to be most interested in.</p><p> </p><p>

Here's what we know so far;</p><p> </p><p>

- WCW <strong>will not</strong> be on TNT. All TV deals were cancelled upon the buyout.</p><p>

- All contracts transfer over with the new ownership. Workers <em>will</em> have the option to sit out of the remainder of their deals.</p><p>

- WCW pay per view contracts with Time Warner have been cancelled. WCW will have to obtain all new PPV deals if they wish to remain on air.</p><p>

- All current champions will remain; Therefore it is believed that all current champions will be present and are not expected to sit out of their deals.</p><p>

- WCW's first event will be Slamboree held the first week of May 2001. This will <strong>NOT</strong> be aired on PPV due to Time Warner cancelling their contract. It will not be aired at all.</p><p> </p><p>

That's about all we can confirm at the moment. It was rumored that Bischoff had reached out to all veterans on the roster, most notably Ric Flair, Sting, and Kevin Nash about sticking with him to help out the revival. They all are said to be positive and are expected to be present. For how long though, is unknown.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">It has also been confirmed that the WCW Hardcore title has been retired effective immediately. Eric Bischoff has also put out a press release that the WCW Television Title will return and a match will take place at Slamboree to determine the champion.</span></p><p><span style="color:#8B0000;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#8B0000;">

Really looking forward to seeing what you do with WCW, especially since you are playing the same time period as I am. Good luck!

WCW Cruiserweight Title:

"Sugar" Shane Helms © vs Elix Skipper

WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles:

Filthy Animals (Kidman & Rey) © vs Jung Dragons

I'm not really a fan of the Cruiserweight Tag Titles (I got rid of them in my game), mainly because I don't think there are enough teams to have a division. But Rey and Kidman should go over here.

WCW Television Title:

Rick Steiner vs Konnan vs Alex Wright vs Mike Awesome

Tough one. Steiner would make a decent veteran champion I think so I'm going with him, but I could also see Mike Awesome picking up the win.

WCW Tag Team Titles:

Natural Born Thrillers (Palumbo & O'Haire) © vs Mark Jindrak & Shawn Stasiak

WCW United States Title:

Dustin Rhodes vs Lance Storm vs Lex Luger

Either man would make a good champion. Rhodes and Storm for their in ring ability and Luger for his star power, although he doesn't have much left in the tank in terms of in ring skills.

Kevin Nash vs Scott Steiner

I'm a huge Nash fan so I can't go against him here.

WCW World Heavyweight Title:

Sting vs Diamond Dallas Page vs Booker T © vs Ric Flair

Should be a great match and it's really a coin toss here, but I say Booker retains.

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#4169E1;">WCW Slamboree 2001</span></span></strong></p><p><strong>

From the Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY</strong></p><p><strong>

Attendance: 23,000 - Sold Out!!</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#000000;">WCW returns with a bang...Sort of. While it is clearly a packed house with a sellout in the Rupp Arena, and the fans are obviously going nuts for the new possibilities in WCW, the absence of TV cameras is extremely noticeable. There are a couple of cameramen, just so WCW can (hopefully fast) release a tape of their first major event in the new era. It looks nothing more than a big house show. With Bischoff having the entire WCW warehouse, he's opted to go with the Slamboree set from 1997, rather than spend money he doesn't have by making a new set. On with the action, as Bischoff comes out without music and a microphone to a very warm reception from the packed crowd!</span></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#2F4F4F;">Bischoff: Thank you, thank you! Let me start by saying this is a new era of WCW. I've had time to reflect on my past decisions and I only hope to improve upon them. It may be a rocky road ahead for a little while, but if we keep getting fans like you in our arenas, WCW will be just fine! Enough about me...It's about you fans, and WCW! We're starting off the action right now in a cruiserweight title match between Shane Helms and Elix Skipper!</span></p><p><span style="color:#2F4F4F;">

Rating: 74</span></p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>WCW Cruiserweight Title:</p><p>

"Sugar" Shane Helms © vs Elix Skipper</p><p>

- It is clear that WCW is attempting to bring the Cruiserweight division back to the prominence it once had. They started that with Shane Helms and Elix Skipper. It was a fast-paced match where Helms took the win and retained with a Vertebreaker.</p><p>

Winner and still champion: "Sugar" Shane Helms</p><p>

Rating: 29</p><p> </p><p>

WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Titles:</p><p>

Filthy Animals (Kidman & Rey) © vs Jung Dragons</p><p>

- The crowd were quite a bit more into this than they were the first matchup. This was an extremely fast-paced match where both teams highlighted their aerial ability. The Filthy Animals retained after Kidman hit his Shooting Star Press on Yang.</p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Flair For The Gold!</span></strong></p><p>

<span style="color:#0000FF;">Flair: Here we are!!!! The GREATEST wrestling organization in the entire world is back! We're in the heart of dixie with a packed crowd that's hungry for action that they haven't seen in a few years!! We have a main event that's got some of the biggest names in our sport! I've always held a high regard for our World's heavyweight title. The biggest names in this sport's history have held that belt, including yours truely! Tonight, I'm gonna win that belt, and I'm gonna be the 16 time World's Heavyweight Champion! WHHHHOOOOOOO!!!</span></p><p>

Rating: 50</p><p> </p><p>

WCW Television Title:</p><p>

Rick Steiner vs Konnan vs Alex Wright vs Mike Awesome</p><p>

- The return of the Television title to WCW is a huge event. Putting the prestige to the title that was once there, however, will be and uphill climb. Bischoff made the match between 4 competitors he thought would be able to deliver the title back to its glory days. 3 of the 4 men have all held this same title at least once. Mike Awesome showcased his incredible agility, Rick Steiner took it to all competitors with his brawling, Konnan brought his charisma to the match, and Alex Wright brought his quickness. All 4 men actually complimented each other quite well. While Awesome and Steiner were brawling with one another on the outside, Alex Wright shocked everyone when he caught Konnan in a German Suplex, getting the 3 and winning the title for a second time!</p><p>

Winner and new champion: Alex Wright</p><p>

Rating: 48</p><p> </p><p>

WCW Tag Team Titles:</p><p>

Natural Born Thrillers (Palumbo & O'Haire) © vs Mark Jindrak & Shawn Stasiak</p><p>

- A matchup between all 4 men who are rumored to have a bright future among all of them. Palumbo and O'Haire seemed to work better together as they are the current champions. The finish came when O'Haire hit a Seantonbomb on Stasiak to retain their titles.</p><p>

Winners and still champions: Natural Born Thrillers</p><p>

Rating: 37</p><p> </p><p>

WCW United States Title:</p><p>

Dustin Rhodes vs Lance Storm vs Lex Luger</p><p>

- A huge opportunity for all 3 men. Rhodes, finally getting the opportunity to make something of himself on his own. Lance Storm, the former champion who had tons of promise toward the end of the "old" WCW. Many see him becoming the new face and a future World Champion. Lex Luger, the former standout who had such promise. He was once super over as a face, but numerous heel turns killed his momentum. All 3 men look to begin the new WCW era on fire. Luger had the crowd solidly behind him in this match. The finish came when Luger managed to get Rhodes up in the torture rack. Storm was out on the mat and with nowhere to go, Rhodes was forced to tap out.</p><p>

Winner and new champion: Lex Luger</p><p>

Rating: 52</p><p> </p><p>

Kevin Nash vs Scott Steiner</p><p>

- This match was thrown in for no particular reason other than to try and get the fans into it. Nash is the face and Steiner the heel. Both men played the crowd excellently. After Midajah distracted Nash, Steiner was able to get a cheap shot in before locking in the Steiner Recliner. Nash tapped and Steiner won! Looks like Steiner may be back in the title hunt after this win.</p><p>

Winner: Scott Steiner</p><p>

Rating: 60</p><p> </p><p>

WCW World Heavyweight Title:</p><p>

Sting vs Diamond Dallas Page vs Booker T © vs Ric Flair</p><p>

- A highly anticipated contest that the crowd was majorly in to. All men showcased their talents and signature moves in this contest. There were several near falls in the match and many times the fans thought for sure that each man had the match won. Flair was in much better shape here than he was on the "final" WCW Monday Nitro. While Sting and DDP battled one another, Booker T caught Flair with the Book End to get the pinfall and retain his title!!</p><p>

Winner and still champion: Booker T</p><p>

Rating: 70</p><p> </p><p>

Overall show grade: 66</p><p> </p><p>

Nice show! Filthy Animals are one of the best tag teams of this era, honestly, so I hope things continue to go right for them. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Prediction Results:

TheBigBad1013: 5/7

Beejus: 5/7

solidliquid777: 4/7

Warhawk8492: 4/7

Thanks guys for the first set of predictions. I'd say 4 is pretty good for the first one and I'm happy to say that no one was able to predict all correct matches! Hopefully that's a good thing for my dynasty. On with the news!

Post Show review!

-WCW has come to terms with the immediate release of the following talent;

Kimona Wanalaya

Vince Russo

John Laurinaitis

Road Warrior Animal

The Sarge

Sid Vicious

- The release of Sid Vicious is said to be a mutual agreement between Sid and WCW due to his injury. At this point, it is unknown if Sid will even be able to return to an in-ring capacity since suffering that horrible broken leg. Sid was said to have received a very beneficial severance package.

- Vince Russo was reportedly the very first firing that Eric Bischoff wanted to make, however, he was obligated to wait until the start of the offical business week before announcing it. There is no love lost between those two and they are not expected to ever work together again.

- It IS official, WCW was able to reach an agreement with cable provider F/X to bring back WCW Nitro! Unfortunately their product will only be available in the North America market. They are feverishly working to expand to at least Canada and Mexico. WCW Nitro will be held on Friday's in the early evening, however, it will not begin until the start of the new network lineup in June. This means WCW will have an entire month before having a show. WCW is not letting this deter them, however, as they are said to just be pleased to obtain a new TV contract as quick as they did.

- One major focus going into ownership is Eric Bischoff's interest in curbing substance abuse issues at least in his own company. Bischoff is reportedly very sincere in his efforts to assist workers. Implementation in WCW's new wellness policy took effect immediately at Slamboree. This caught many workers off guard during "orientation" a few hours before the show. There were several workers chosen at random. Another new regulation is that Eric Bischoff and Fusient Media will be publicly reporting any offenders. The following workers were found in violation at Slamboree;

Lex Luger (Steroids)

Shawn Stasiak (Steroids)

Mark Jindrak (Steroids)

- All three of these workers were fined an unknown amount. They were also said to be positive of their dealing with President Bischoff and took the opportunity to confront their respective issues.

Mike Awesome (Hard drugs)

- It is unknown exactly what drug was in Awesome's system, but he was suspended 30 days as a result. Bischoff was reportedly extremely disappointed in this test as he was expecting a lot out of Mike Awesome early on. Awesome was reportedly very unhappy with his suspension and believed Bischoff over-reacted. In a way, this shouldn't impact Mike Awesome much, seeing that WCW will be without an event for at least a month.

- WCW was able to sign a PPV deal with subscriber Midcontinent. While this is a small market, they are pleased that Pay Per Views will be available not only in the US, but also in all of Canada and Mexico.

- Slamboree was considered a success although it was not aired on cable or Pay Per View. It was a sellout crowd, and Bischoff is hoping that will carry over to their WCW Nitro taping in June. WCW's production team is working diligently to release Slamboree on VHS/DVD home video as soon as possible.

-Since obtaining all WCW rights and property, Eric Bischoff has decided to re-open the WCW PowerPlant. It is unknown how long it will take before we start to see any workers coming from there. The Sarge was the former trainer there, however, he was let go.

- Ricky Steamboat and Ted Dibiase were signed to contracts with WCW this week. Steamboat not only will work as a road agent, but he will also be the head trainer at the PowerPlant. It is unknown what role Dibiase will play yet in the new WCW.

- The WWF has seemed to have gone on a signing spree. The following were signed to contracts;

Nelson Knight

Luke Williams

Butch Miller

Barry Windham

Samu

Tommy Dreamer

Greg Valentine

Road Warrior Animal (Newly released from WCW)

Glen Ruth

Leatherface

Curt Hennig

Jake Roberts

- WCW was rumored to be also bidding for Curt Hennig. His signing with the WWF comes as a major disappointment to them.

- WWF have recalled youngster Brock Lesnar and Dave Taylor from OVW.

Here is the tenative card for the return of WCW Nitro in June!!

Kronik vs America's Most Wanted

Disco Inferno vs Ernest Miller

WCW Cruiserweight Tag Title Match:

Filthy Animals © vs Kid Romeo& Elix Skipper

Friday, Week 1, June 2001</p><p>

<span style="color:#8B0000;">Wells Fargo Arena - Arizona</span></p><p>

Attendance: 13,563</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><pre class="ipsCode">Pre-Show:

Air Raid d. 3 Count

Fit Finaly d. Jason Jett</pre><div></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

The crowd is totally amped up for the first edition of Nitro since March 2001. There are a few differences such as several "FX" banners around. The arena decoration is pretty plain. There is no special stage set up, rather it's a simple "Nitro" logo above a curtained off structure. The ring has no logo on the mat. The apron features the "World Championship Wrestling" blue design that they used around 1995. Despite the bland features, the crowd is excited for the first televised event in the new WCW. They get even more excited with "Seek and Destroy" blares first thing through the speakers and none other than Sting walks out. He does his signature yell to the crowd and gets a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#A0522D;">Sting: I want to first off, welcome everyone back to WCW Nitro!!!! We may be on a different day of the week, but I can promise everyone here in this arena and everyone watching at home that the action is just gonna be as hot as it was before!</span></p><p><span style="color:#A0522D;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#A0522D;">

Now...Getting down to business...There's a few things that the Stinger's gonna do differently this time around! I'm not going to beat around the bush and kill a lot of time, in fact, I'm just gonna get right down to it...It's been WAAAAAAYYYY too long since the Stinger's held the world title and tonight, I'm calling the World Heavyweight Champion Booker T out TONIGHT!</span></p><p> </p><p>

- The crowd goes nuts at the opportunity but instead of the World Champ's music, "A Space Odyssey 2001" blares and out walks The Nature Boy Ric Flair. Flair gets a good response from the crowd. Flair struts out in his designer suit and classic smile as he walks to the ring. After entering, he takes a moment to say a couple of words to Sting before getting a mic.</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#0000FF;">Flair: Stinger.....There's a couple things that you and I agree on. We both thing this great company, WCW, is the greatest wrestling organization in the world. We both think...Aw hell...You said you weren't gonna waste time, so neither is the Nature Boy, cause pal, the Nature Boy's time is a hell of a lot more important than yours!</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;">

Stinger?!?! You talk about world titles and title shots....Lemme tell you something, the world title wouldn't mean HALF of what it does without the Nature Boy!!! Sting!! I've said it plenty of times before, and I'll say it again tonight....TO BE THE MAN, YOU GOTTA BEAT THE MAN!!! And Stinger?!? Ric Flair's gonna do things different this time around too, and you're not the only one wanting a title shot!!! So big man, tonight it's gonna be you and I, and I can promise you this.....Tonight's match isn't even going to resemble our last encounter!</span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;"> </span></p><p><span style="color:#0000FF;">

In this matchup of established stars (Kronik) and newcomers (Chris Harris and James Storm) was about what you would expect of an opening matchup. Nothing too flashy or jaw dropping. Kronik dominated the matchup, eventually hitting the High Tmes on Chris Harris.</p><p>

- We cut backstage where Scott Steiner is warming up with bands when Jeff Jarrett walks in. Steiner doesn't seem too pleased to see Jarrett though, but Jeff holds up his hands in friendship. Jarrett tells Steiner that though they don't always see eye to eye, they both deserve to be the World Champion instead of that "Slapnut" Booker T. Steiner says if anyone should be world champ, it's him...But they both agree that their energy would be better used in both of them taking out Booker T.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Disco Inferno vs Ernest Miller</span></p><p>

A battle of the mid-cards. It's clear that Eric Bischoff wants to build up the mid-card division for the TV title and he's starting with Disco and The Cat. Both men took turns in a sort of "dance off" but Miller seemed to be the more serious of the two. After quite a few martial artist moves, Miller finished off the Disco one with the Feliner.</p><p>

- Shane Douglas is backstage with a Nitro backdrop. He goes on to give a promo about the US title and Lex Luger. He says the only reason Luger's the US champion is because he wasn't given the opportunity to be in the match. He tells Luger to enjoy his time though, because as soon as he gets his hands on him, it's going to end!</span></p><p> </p><p>

A very fast paced matchup between competitors who complimented each other well. There never was really any doubt in this one as to who would win as Rey Jr. hit Romeo in a springboard hurricanrana for the win.</p><p>

Buff Bagwell vs Lex Luger</span></p><p>

Battle of the bodies was up next. Bagwell spent entirely too much time prancing around and taunting Luger. The US champ, on the other hand, was all business and seems to have a new determination about him. Luger used his sheer strength as the focus of his match, using Military Presses, back drops, powerslams, and clotheslines in his decimation of Bagwell. Luger finally finished it off with a Torture Rack.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Sting vs Ric Flair</span></p><p>

A highly anticipated match, the crowd was hoping this match would be better than their believed "Nitro finale." While it included many of their basic spots, the high energy between both men as well as the hot crowd really helped. Flair was playing the solid heel role in the match but he was getting plenty of cheers. Sting ended up with the babyface comeback and took control. After hitting his patented Stinger Splashes, Flair did his classic "Flair Flop." Sting quickly locked in the Scorpion Deathlock where Flair tapped out.</p><p>

Winner: Sting</p><p>

Rating: 77</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<span style="color:#696969;">- Immediately after the bell and before Sting can even release the deathlock, Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett and DDP hit the ring and blindside Sting. DDP and Jarrett hold up Sting while Steiner gets in a few shots. Flair eventually gets back on his feet and join in. Just when the scene looks hopeless for the Stinger, the crowd comes to life as Booker T and Lex Luger run out from the back. The attackers all bail the ring as soon as Booker and Luger slide in. They check on Sting and taunt the group as they backtrack up the ramp while the first Nitro fades to a close!</span></p><p><span style="color:#696969;">

Many fans had the opinion that the main event between Sting and Ric Flair delivered, however, the rest of the show was pretty bland. Some fans were also confused by the apparent alliance between Scott Steiner, Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, and DDP, as it was never explained. The following workers were found in violation this past Friday night;</p><p> </p><p> Rey Misterio Jr</p><p> Brian Adams</p><p> </p><p> It's reported that both workers tested positive for steroids and both workers were fined and undisclosed amount. Unofficial word coming out of WCW's camp is that Eric Bischoff has a strategy for offenders. It's more or less a "3 strikes" rule. Typically in the case of steroids, for the first offense, workers will be fined. Subsequent offenses are subject to change. If workers test positive for harder substances, Bischoff is said to be quite strict. A first offense (As seen in Mike Awesome's case) will usually garner a 30 day suspension outright. Any other offenses, workers could be fired.</p><p> </p><p> Most of this is a direct result of Bischoff trying to get a stranglehold on the locker room. It's no secret that the backstage area is a total disaster, even with the new ownership. It's also thought that many workers are trying to feel out Bischoff and see what they can get away with. During the match, Torrie seemed to have changed her mind, taking a moment while Kidman was down to plead to Shane Douglas about how sorry she was and asked him to take her back. Kanyon, who's still fully into his "positively Kanyon" persona, probably could have had a better match if he had a more serious gimmick. Kanyon took precious moments out of the match where he potentially could have made the pin, only to taunt the crowd with his "Kanyon Cutter" symbol and yelling "BANG" several times throughout the match. I think the official count for hearing "BANG" was upwards of 30 times. The finish came when Kanyon went for his Kanyon Cutter. Wright reversed it, shoving Kanyon chest-first into the ropes. Kanyon rebounded to Wright, who caught him in the German Suplex, getting the pin. It seems to have gone over well with the fans. The interesting thing about this match was the experience of the two teams. Luger and Sting have held the tag team titles together. While Flair and Steiner seem to be an odd pairing, Scott's former tag experience played a heavy factor in this match. The crowd were into the match quite a bit. The newfound alliance between Flair and Steiner also came through in this match. US Champion Lex Luger and Sting were in solid control of the match. Just when it looked like Luger was going to "Rack" the Nature Boy, DDP and Jeff Jarrett made their impact. Jarrett took out Sting while Steiner distracted the referee. DDP slid in the ring and hit a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere on the unsuspecting Luger. Flair did his best acting by crawling over to Luger and making a pin. Steiner shoved the referee toward them who counted the 3.</p><p> <em>Winners: Flair & Steiner</em></p><p> <strong>Rating: 65</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW World Title Match:</span></strong></p><p><strong> Booker T © vs DDP</strong></p><p> - An awesome match that had the crowd fired up. DDP was already in the ring as he helped in the last match. Booker T took the opportunity to hit the ring and jump DDP. The match immediately began with Booker firmly in charge, taking it straight to the former People's Champion. DDP's alliance, which still have not given a name for themselves, stayed at ringside, letting everyone know that they will be involved in the match. With Booker in charge, all they could do is watch on for the time being. Booker whipped DDP into the ropes and hit a vicious Harlem Sidekick, sending DDP spilling out to the floor. He took the time to regroup with his alliance. Once back in the ring, DDP took control and slowed the match down. DDP used his many signature moves, hitting a stiff discuss clothesline on the World Champion. Both men are down and a mandatory 10 count begins.</p><p> </p><p> At the count of 8, DDP crawls over and gets an arm over Booker.</p><p> 1...</p><p> </p><p> 2....</p><p> </p><p> Kickout!!</p><p> </p><p> Booker gets the fans behind him as he starts to make the comeback. Seeing what's happening, Flair and Steiner react quickly on the outside. Flair jumps up on the apron, but that doesn't last long as Booker quickly clocks him, sending him crashing down to the floor. Steiner's got the referee's attention as Jeff Jarrett grabs his guitar that was still at ringside from his previous match. He gets in the ring behind Booker, who's focused on Steiner. Jarrett winds up and Booker turns.....He ducks and gets out of the way!! He kicks Jarrett in the gut, bounces off the ropes and hits a Scissor kick!! Jarrett rolls out of the ring while Booker breakdances to his feet!!! Booker starts to "Raise the Roof" and the crowd is on fire. DDP is getting to his feet though and is sneaking up on the Champ. Steiner slides in the ring with the belt as the referee approaches him. Steiner levels Mickie Jay, knocking him out cold. Steiner holds the title, waiting as Booker's getting to his feet. Booker turns and Steiner rushes, but Booker ducks again!!! Steiner misses and turns into a crescent kick!! Steiner is knocked out of the ring and DDP now tries to take advantage, going after Booker. DDP goes for a clothesline, but Booker ducks that too. DDP turns and Booker nails the Book End!!!! He makes the cover, but there's no ref!!!!! <p>I don't have a clue what happened with Jarret vs Nash. They don't have good or bad chemistry with one another, and to be honest, it happened so long ago in my game I don't remember the break-down of the match. All I know is, their match bombed rating-wise. It could have been their popularity at the time, their morale, momentum....Not sure what caused such a low rating in their match.</p><p> </p><p>

I will put up the GAB preview tonight, so look for it!</p>

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://pinkozzy.tripod.com/WCW07.gif</span><p> <strong>Pepsi Center - Colorado</strong></p><p><strong> Attendance: 18,007 (Sell Out!)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> -After a huge fireworks display and a panoramic shot of the jam-packed arena, cameras go to the announce position where Tony Shiavone, Mike Tenay, and Dusty Rhodes go over the huge show for WCW! Officially WCW's first Pay Per View since their re-birth, they hype up the show like it's the biggest of the year. Of course, Shiavone proclaims this as the <em>Biggest show in the history of WCW!</em> In the midst of their preview of the show, Kid Romeo's music hits to start off with the Cruiserweight title matchup;</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="37658" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>WCW Cruiserweight Title:</strong></span></p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;">Kid Romeo vs "Sugar" Shane Helms ©</span></p><p> - Both competitors brought their A-game for this match. Not only did they want to showcase the new Cruiserweight division, but they also wanted to do their part in getting the hot crowd even hotter. Word that Eric Bischoff is still on the fence about the Cruiserweight division has all of those in the division not only nervous, but also probably putting on better overall matches. Kid Romeo was able to battle and get a decent amount of offense in, however, it was clear that Shane Helms is the future of the Cruiserweight division as he put away Kid Romeo in relatively easy fashion.</p><p> Winner and <em>still</em> champion: Sugar Shane Helms</p><p> Rating: 45</p><p> </p><p> Ernest Miller vs Buff Bagwell</p><p> - This seemed to be nothing more than a filler matchup. Despite the spot on the card, it wasn't a half-bad match. Bagwell spent the majority of the time taunting and flexing whenever he was able to get Miller down, which negated most of his effectiveness. Miller did his fair share of dancing though, and several times proclaimed that he was gonna "Call Buff's Momma!!" Dusty was heard on commentary pleading that Miller did no such thing, as "Nobody wants to see Buff's momma back on the show!" The climax of the match came when Buff was on the second rope, waiting to hit the Buff Blockbuster. Miller staggered to his feet and turned, but ducked out of the way, causing Bagwell to miss!!! Buff got to one knee but then Miller completely blasted him in the side of the head with a vicious looking Feliner. Miller then pinned Buff for the 3 and the win, shocking many in the crowd and causing The Cat to get a decent pop.</p><p> Winner: Ernest "The Cat" Miller</p><p> Rating: 51</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><em><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">A "new" Nature Boy??</span></strong></em></span></p><p> - Lance Storm is backstage adjusting his gear and preparing for his tag team match when Ric Flair walks in. Flair's all smiles and has a box in his hands. This (As he opens the box) is a taylor-made, 100% custom, $100,000 robe pal!!! Just like me, we're gonna - WWWHHOOOO! - Be stylin' and profilin' as we walk out to that ring to take on Big Sexy and Konnan!!! Nowadays Tag Teams are missing uniformity!! I got you red and white on the robe so it matches your gear, and tonight I'll be wearing blue...It's gonna be great!! I'll tell ya kid, you stick with me and follow my lead, you're gonna be the next World Champion! I'm tellin' ya!</span></p><p> <span style="color:#FF8C00;">Storm: Alright...Well thanks. Robes really aren't my thing, but I agree, there's no tradition in tag teams anymore. I'll wear it tonight..But on my own, I'm not sure if I could be a Nature Boy like you..The long platinum blonde hair just wouldn't work...But one thing's for sure, Kevin Nash and Konnan won't stand a chance against us tonight.</span></p><p> Rating: 54</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#FF0000;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Showtime!</span></strong></span></p><p> Sting: The WCW World Heavyweight Title...Something I've held a time or two! Tonight, I've got to go up against two of the biggest names in this company to get it...Scott Steiner, I'll start with you...You think you're "Big Poppa Pump"....Well guess what?! I'm the STINGER! So you know what I'm gonna do tonight?!? This Stinger's gonna "sting" you and deflate those pumped up muscles of yours! Booker T?!? Well Booker, I've got a lot of respect for you. We've had our fair share of battles over the years and your spot is long over due! Don't let my respect make you believe that I'll go easy on you or back out of the way, because Booker!!! I've not held that title since 1999 and tonight the Stinger's looking to get back on track! IT'S SHOWTIME FOLKS!</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW Television Title:</span></strong></span></p><p> Rick Steiner vs Alex Wright ©</p><p> - A hard hitting contest, at least from Rick Steiner's side of things. Steiner pummeled and beat Alex Wright at ever turn. The grizzled veteran clearly was in charge and looked to be moments away from getting the win to become the new champion. Wright was able to get a burst of energy and used his quickness to mount a comeback. That all changed though when Wright made the mistake of attempting a German Suplex. Steiner, the master of suplexes was too heavy and wasn't worn down enough yet. Steiner reversed it into a belly to belly suplex but Wright flipped to his feet. He then caught Steiner with a huge superkick and pinned him for the shocking 3 and retained his belt!!</p><p> Winner and <em>still</em> champion: Alex Wright</p><p> Rating: 43</p><p> </p><p> Chavo Guerrero Jr & Crowbar vs The Filthy Animals vs The Jung Dragons</p><p> - This was a fun matchup. There was so much going on, so many people flying around, that the fans and cameras had a hard time following it all. This was literally a showcase of the Cruiserweight Tag Team titles...Although the interesting thing was that the titles were not on the line. The finish came when Billy Kidman was able to hit a Shooting Star Press on Crowbar for the pin.</p><p> Winners: Filthy Animals</p><p> Rating: 53</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>WCW Tag Team Titles:</strong></span></span></p><p> Mark Jindrak & Shawn Stasiak vs The Natural Born Thrillers ©</p><p> - The WCW Tag Team Titles were on tap to be defended next. Despite the short time, these two teams have managed to have quite a history. It was a pretty even matchup the entire way through. Mark Jindrak and Sean O'Haire were the legal men in the contest. Each had battled the other to the point they were both down on the mat. During the mandatory 10 count, both men were crawling to their corners to attempt the hot tag to their partner. Jindrak had made it to his corner first and stretched out for the tag to Stasiak. Just as Stasiak was entering the ring, O'Haire made the tag to Palumbo. Both men entered on fire and looked about to collide. Just as they were about to hit one another with a clothesline, Stasiak and Palumbo turned and each blasted their partners instead with a clothesline!!! The crowd was stunned and the referee was stunned! Stasiak and Palumbo smile and embrace. Stasiak gets O'Haire to his feet with Palumbo's help and hits him with a neck breaker. While he makes the pin, Palumbo takes out Mark Jindrak who's attempting to get to his feet. The confused referee counts the 3 and it appears we have new champions....But who?!? Shawn Stasiak and Chuck Palumbo hold up the tag team belts!</p><p> Winners (Technically): Shawn Stasiak & Mark Jindrak</p><p> Rating: 41</p><p> </p><p> Lance Storm & Ric Flair vs Konnan & Kevin Nash</p><p> - Flair and Storm walk out in their robes, but Storm seems a bit more awkward in his. The match went through the classic spots with nothing really standing out. Lance Storm clearly made this match better and Ric Flair kept it entertaining. Nash was his typical self in a match and Konnan was pretty underwhelming. Storm and Flair used underhanded tactics at every turn they could. After a low blow by Flair on Nash, Storm caught Konnan in his rolling half-crab forcing him to submit.</p><p> Winners: Storm & Flair</p><p> Rating: 58</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW United States Title:</span></strong></span></p><p> Jeff Jarrett vs Lex Luger ©</p><p> - One of the two matches the crowd was most looking forward to. Luger's new-found resurgence in WCW has fans excited and Luger is in fantastic shape. His attitude has seemed to change also. It was a surprise to most in WCW how well received Luger has been as a babyface. The crowd has clearly wanted to cheer Luger for some time, but he was booked horribly in the old WCW. The crowd was firmly behind Luger in this match. Jarrett played the classic heel well. Each time Luger appeared to get in control, Jarrett would find some underhanded way to kill his momentum and take over. Jarrett tried it too many times though, as Luger was able to fake out Jarrett. Luger hit a series of clotheslines that got the crowd back on their feet. Luger hit his forearm on Jarrett's head an everyone knew what was coming! The crowd was on their feet in a frenzy and Luger gestured for the Torture Rack! Jarrett staggered to his feet and Luger grabbed hold of him and lifted him to his feet. Luger locked in the Rack and Jarrett was flailing away in agony. Jarrett tapped out and Luger celebrated with his title and the crowd!</p><p> Winner and <em>still</em> champion: Lex Luger</p><p> Rating: 60</p><p> </p><p> <span style="color:#0000FF;"><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WCW World Heavyweight Title:</span></strong></span></p><p> Scott Steiner vs Sting vs Booker T ©</p><p> - By the time this match rolled around, the crowd as hyped up huge. The match started with Booker and Sting mainly teaming up against Steiner. Once they were able to get Steiner down, they turned their attention to one another. Booker was first to attack Sting, as the World Champ clearly recognized everyone as a threat and he wanted to take advantage. With Booker and Sting fighting, Steiner pulled himself to the corner and took a minute to refresh. Steiner walked in and started taking turns hitting each man. Steiner hit a pair of suplexes on Booker and Sting and took some time to do some pushups in the middle of the ring. At about the 15 minute mark, it was still pretty even. All 3 competitors spilled out onto the floor and this is where Steiner's in his element. Steiner choked out Booker with some TV wires which Sting broke up. Steiner and Sting battled on the floor with Sting gaining control. Steiner was thrown into the steel guardrail and Sting took the chance at going for a Stinger Splash. This was a huge mistake as Steiner moved out of the way, crashing his ribs into the cold unforgiving steel. Unbeknownst to the referee, Steiner grabbed his lead pipe and hit Sting across the back with it, pretty much putting the Stinger out of commission. With Sting down, Steiner turned his sights to the World Champ. He rolled Booker into the ring and climbed in. Getting to his feet, Booker was able to get his breath enough to go for a sidekick. Steiner ducked out of the way and as Booker turned, Steiner caught him in an overhead belly to belly suplex! Steiner yelled that the match was over and positioned about Booker. He flexed his huge biceps and then pulled Booker up, hooking him in the Steiner recliner!!!!! Booker fought against it though. Despite being in the center of the ring, Booker was slowly inching his way to the ropes. The crowd was firmly behind Booker and was clapping their hands to give him the needed momentum to make it. Each tiny inch that Booker made, Steiner pulled back more. Booker yelled out in obvious pain but still fought the urge to tap. Booker inched his way but he still had a long way to go. The pain was clear on his face and he stretched his arms out as far as he could....But the pain was too severe and he couldn't take it anymore. Booker had no choice but to tap and the referee signaled for the bell. Scott Steiner is the new champion!!!!!</p><p> Winner and <em>new</em> champion: Scott Steiner</p><p> Rating: 78</p><p> </p><p> After the bell, Steiner yanked the title away from the referee. He held the title up so everyone could see that he was the new champion!</p><p> Rating: 75</p><p> </p><p> Overall show grade: 71</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

<p>Alright, after trying to come up with other ideas on what to do for this dynasty, I took a concept from Captain2, which I really like and it works for his dynasty. Mine is pretty similar because I'm quite far into the game and it's gotten really interesting in my last game year. My current format wasn't working and it dropped my interest. I'm not big into long show write ups and breaking down each little portion of the show. In my view, it's really over done and unless you're a terrific writer (which I am not), the dynasties get boring. So in order to catch up in the years, and hopefully keep this interesting, I'll try this. If it doesn't work and generate some interest, I'll close this dynasty. So, onward with catching up and letting everyone know what's happened with WCW up until this point!</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/xaWUGeb.jpg</span></p><p>

I personally disagree with the 2003 choice. My biggest year so far has been 2003 and I have several workers who have put on great matches. WWE has been spamming their matches to generate high ratings, so this is not an objective win, in my opinion.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/DxGZqMX.jpg?1</span></p><p>

Hogan has dominated the years as the top veteran worker.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/hD7G4Qv.jpg?1</span></p><p>

I don't know that anyone can catch WWE, but I'm trying</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/T48s50Q.jpg?1</span></p><p>

FIP pisses me off. They form around March 2003 and jump up to 14 popularity in a single area to win the award. If not for them, I would have won for 2003.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/AeNFoY7.jpg?1</span></p><p>

Yet more crap...For 2003 (as you will see next), my top rated show was Starrcade, also rated a 92, which ties Vengeance. Of course they go with WWE's show...</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/CrbrFZM.jpg?1</span></p><p>

2003 was by far my biggest year so far. I was able to snag Eddie Guerrero away from WWE and my popularity took off from there. I started by putting the US title on him and then late Summer I put him in a feud with a heel Booker T (who was also world champ). Their feud became liquid fire and took off, really opening up my company. Eddie beat Booker for the belt at Starrcade and their feud is continuing on fire. Up next will be a rundown of my titles and WWE.</p>

<p>Sorry guys, I worked on resizing the pictures. Hopefully this is better.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/GNOj4aE.jpg</span></p><p>

"Flashy" Lance Storm...Maybe that will be his new nickname. Never seen that before, although he's started off 2004 strong and gaining popularity. I'm slowly building him as a World Champ, probably sometime this game year (2004). Teasing a feud with Eddie Guerrero.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/uc3GbXa.jpg</span></p><p>

I'm <em>finally</em> on the brink of leaving Cult status and probably will jump straight to Global when I finally do....That pesky New England territory is the only thing holding me back from leaving Cult.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/uLKmk3x.jpg</span></p><p>

I was actually able to win getting Shawn Michaels to sign with me when he returned. Gave him a run with the title for it. I gave the Macho Man a run with the belt just because he's awesome and he was a transitional champion. Booker T has been my go-to guy for sure.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/8S0sobS.jpg</span></p><p>

Eddie was the US champ going into the Starrcade match. Nitro after Starrcade I had Bischoff strip him of the belt....Trying to decide who to put the US title on now..I'm currently doing a mini-tournament for the belt, which you will see in a later post.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/lWDTxxg.jpg</span></p><p>

I brought back the TV title to use as a platform for next big players. It's done well to get guys ready for the next step.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/kvmboG3.jpg</span></p><p>

The Jung Dragons bailed me out big time. I had just re-signed Brian Adams to reform Kronik and feud with then-champs the Filthy Animals....2 weeks later, Adams decides he's going to retire. In came the Dragons. I've rewarded them with a quite long title reign and I'm not really looking to de-throne them. They've just began a feud with the Hart Foundation (Bret and Bulldog). Yes, I edited Bret Hart to return to the ring following his injury....But I had him return in 2003, so he sat out for a couple years. I brought Bret back after he initially signed with me in a non-wrestling capacity and HBK started a feud with him. They feuded in early 2003 to "end" their feud. Resulted in some good matches. Bret's now in time-decline and he's not that popular, so I've put him in the tag division to help build it up some more. Using him in a support role to help other workers now.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/2ufiEYY.jpg</span></p><p>

In order to keep their high ratings, WWE has completely spammed The Brothers of Destruction vs Two Man Power Trip. 2003 was loaded with their matches.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/aarIsfR.jpg</span></p><p>

It's still January 2004, wk3 in my game, and as you can see, they've already had them face one another 4 times. Their ratings have really dropped, so hopefully their fans are getting tired of them.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/PiJVbCt.jpg</span></p><p>

One thing they have done well is only have 3 different world champions so far into the game. I wish my title prestige would get to 100. Although, the rest of their titles are really in odd shape..Needless to say, WWE will be in serious trouble with Austin, Hogan, Undertaker, Triple H, and the Rock leave/retire. Benoit's contract is up this year and I plan on pushing hard to sign him, just like I did with Eddie.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/kSJLczZ.jpg</span></p><p>

Talk about bizarre, WWE have Austin/Triple H hold the tag titles for a year and a half, only to lose them to Spike Dudley and Saturn. They lost the belts because I signed Saturn....Only to have Bradshaw and Matt Hardy team up to win the belts, who have now held them for over a year.</p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/L9vRePZ.jpg</span></p><p>

The strangeness continues. It looked like they planned on building the Intercontinental division when they put the belt on Regal, but then they have Bubba win it. Short of the World title, the rest of WWE's titles are really in shambles.</p><p> </p><p>

There's a catch-up of the last couple of years. I've really gained leaps and bounds, especially within the last 6 months. I really credit all of that success to Eddie Guerrero. WCW literally took off after he signed. I compare this signing to Hulk Hogan joining WCW in 1994....Eddie was my big steal to put WCW back on the map. My popularity is currently 76 across the board in the US. My undercard has also really carried good matches and their popularity is gaining because of it. Colt Cabana is really rising and he's already pushing me to put him in the main event, even though his popularity doesn't call for it. Bill Goldberg is an interesting cat in my game. He tested positive for steroids in Feb. 2003 and I accidentally fired him. I waited the 6 months and re-signed him in September to a pay per appearance deal because it was cheaper than a written deal. Only did 3 months, well he was still pissed about being fired so he would re-negotiate with me, so he's now gone.</p><p> </p><p>

I released Scott Steiner in June 2002, a year later he signed a development deal with HWA. He's just been recalled by WWE, so it will be interesting to see what they do with him. I tried signing Curt Hennig early in the game, but WWE beat me out in negotiations. He's been doing nothing with them since that time....Whereas if he had signed with me, he would've been World Champion. I'm patiently waiting for his contract to expire. Jericho's contract is also up around the same time as Benoits...I hope to get both Jericho and Benoit to really stick it to WWE.</p>

<span style="text-decoration:underline;">News and Notes:</span></p><p> </p><p>

Expect Shawn Michaels to comment on Kevin Nash. Nash returned to WCW shortly before Starrcade. HBK thought Nash was going to ally with his buddy, but Nash shocked him at Starrcade, almost causing the Showstopper to lose his match against Sting. What will HBK have to say?</p><p> </p><p>

Booker T challenged Eddie Guerrero to a title rematch last week on Nitro. Eddie accepted the match, but he set it for SuperBrawl!!! The two continue their hot feud, but what will happen as we near January's Pay Per View; Sin???</p><p> </p><p>

A mini-US title tournament continues and we're getting closer to crowning a new champion. It's expected to have the title match at Sin. This week, John Cena, The Great Muta, Colt Cabana, RVD, Lance Storm, and Ric Flair all hope to advance to the next round. It's anyone's game!</p><p> </p><p>

WCW continues a great partnership with NJPW and several stars have been traded and shared. The performance of the stars, not only in WCW, but also NJPW is working out nicely with both companies. RVD's recent success in WCW is proof of that. Sting recently ended his tour in New Japan, ending with a match against Scott Hall. Hall was victorious, but the crowd loved the match.</p><p> </p><p>

WCW is looking to expand their viewing areas soon, stay tuned for more information! WCW also seems to be on the brink of growing. It is a very exciting time to be a fan of WCW while they are looking to the future. The other company seems to just be relying on the same old each week. This week on the other show, expect to see the Brothers once again take on the Power Trip, Their World Champion <em>not</em> defend their world title against the Immortal One, and the two "brothers" face each other in the main event.</p>
