On this edition of the newswire we will cover night one, and in a couple of days we will hit everyone with the card for the second night. The first night as already been billed as “The Battle of Long Island”!

It was yet another successful double shot for Ring of Honor in the Midwest! And of course it was capped off in the best way possible, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels defeating The Kings of Wrestling! This feud is definitely far from over and the Kings have announced that they are sending in a member of their ‘kingdom’ into ROH to battle Samoa Joe on May 12 in Long Island and that man is The Necro Butcher! Christopher Daniels himself will also be in singles action as he takes on Claudio Castagnolli of the Kings of Wrestling.

Ring of Honor World Champion Bryan Danielson has told ROH officials that he wants the ROH Tag Team Title match promised him this past weekend, and we have obliged in a massive way! Danielson will team up with NWA World Heavyweight Champion Christian Cage to battle the Ring of Honor Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong! Will Danielson be able to become the ONLY man in ROH history to hold two championships at once?

Despite the heinous attack this past weekend on BJ Whitmer Lacey, Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce are scheduled to appear at the double shot and will team up once more to face ”Classic” Colt Cabana and Ace Steel! Plus, Lacey has petitioned for Jimmy Jacobs to receive a future World Title shot. ROH officials are contemplating her request for when and even if he should receive a shot at the title.

The last big piece of information we have coming out of the weekend is the state of the Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title. ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuiness has been told that he will be out for up to 6 months. This has left ROH officials no choice but to vacate the Pure Wrestling Title and hold an 8-Man Tournament that will start and conclude at the upcoming double shot. The participants will be announced below.

• Jay and Mark Briscoe are now the #1 Contenders to the ROH Tag Team Titles and got their win back over AJ Styles and Matt Sydal. Now they are taking on ROH newcomers The Irish Airborne to prove they are the dominant tag team in the company.

• Speaking of AJ, he will be involved in a Four Corner Survival that will also include Homicide, Chris Hero, and Delirious. The winner will receive a World Title Shot on 6-3-2006 in East Windsor, CT!

• The following 8-men have been signed to be part of the ROH Pure Wrestling Title Tournament; Alex Shelley, Jerry Lynn, Tony Mamaluke, BJ Whitmer, Matt Sydal, former champion Jay Lethal, Jimmy Rave, and Ricky Reyes.

The full Battle of Long Island card

Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship

Austin Aries and Roderick Strong© vs ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson and NWA World Champion Christian Cage

Samoa Joe vs The Necro Butcher

Christopher Daniels vs Claudio Castagnolli

The Briscoes vs The Irish Airborne

ROH World Title #1 Contender’s Four Corner Survival

AJ Styles vs Homicide vs Chris Hero vs Delirious

Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce vs Colt Cabana and Ace Steel

ROH Pure Wrestling Championship Tournament Round One

Jerry Lynn vs Ricky Reyes

Tony Mamaluke vs Jay Lethal

BJ Whitmer vs Jimmy Rave

Matt Sydal vs Alex Shelley

Who do you think should win the ROH Pure Title Tournament?

And, was ROH justified in vacating the ROH Pure Wrestling Title?

Editors Note: I will go ahead like I promised in the newswire and post the tentative card and make a major announcement for the June 17 show in New York. Please feel free to post predictions but keep in mind it wont be a full card yet. Also, I will do my best to post the results for 'The Battle of Long Island' tonight or tomorrow morning. They are already written up. I will attach an updated card though for the 5/13 event along with the name of it AFTER the events of 'The Battle of Long Island' Thanks for those who have read and followed so far. I am actually enjoying this.

ROH Newswire May 3, 2006

As was promised a couple of days ago, today we will begin to shape up the second night of shows up in the North East AND let all of the ROH fans in on a little secret for one of the shows coming up in June!

In June, ROH will hold a one night series against Pro Wrestling NOAH in a “Ring of Honor vs NOAH” challenge series! June 17, 2006 in New York, NY will see the return of KENTA, Naomichi Marufuji, Ricky Marvin, Jun Akiyama and Misruhara Misawa! While all of the matches have not yet been determined for what will be an intriguing night of wrestling, we can confirm that Samoa Joe will be facing off against one of if not the best wrestlers in the world in Mitsuhara Misawa! AND (as if this couldn't get any better!) Low Ki will make an appearance in a Triple Threat Non-Title Match against KENTA and Bryan Danielson!

Speaking of Samoa Joe, he and Christopher Daniels will need to find a third partner for Jersey as they have been challenged by The Kings of Wrestling to a Six-Man Tag Team Match! It promises to be a hard hitting and very volatile match between the men involved in this one.

Ring of Honor World Champion Bryan Danielson will be defending the World Championship he loves so deeply against Jimmy Jacobs! Lacey has been blowing up the phones of ROH officials for days now, stating that she believes Jimmy deserves a shot after what he did to BJ Whitmer at Weekend of Champions Night 2. And ROH officials have decided to grant Lacey her request.

Regardless if they retain the belts or not in Long Island, Austin Aries and Roderick Strong will be competing against Jay and Mark Briscoe in singles matches. It will be Roderick Strong against Jay Briscoe and Austin Aries against Mark Briscoe. ROH officials are still sorting out when the Briscoes will get their much earned and hyped Tag Team Title match against Aries and Strong.

And of course, the semi-finals and finals of the Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament will end, with names being drawn on the night of the even itself.

• They may be taking place in a Four Corner Survival the night before but on 5/13 AJ Styles and Homicide will wrestle in a one-on-one match! They first wrestled in ROH over two years ago and will be looking to tear down the house once more.

• A Tag Team Scramble Match has been signed for the event with tentative participants being so far The Irish Airborne, Jason Blade and Kid Mikaze

The tentative card for 5/13

The Kings of Wrestling (Hero, Daniels, Butcher) vs Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, and ???

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship

Bryan Danielson© vs Jimmy Jacobs

Austin Aries vs Mark Briscoe

Roderick Strong vs Jay Briscoe

Plus, the Semi-Finals and Finals of the ROH Pure Title Tournament.

Ask the fans: What matches would you like to see happen in the ROH vs NOAH Challenge Series? Joe vs Misawa is already signed as well as the 3-Way match but there will be a total of 5 matches in the series. Who would you like to see face Ricky Marvin, Naomichi Marufuji and Jun Akiyama?

OOC: Thanks again for those who continue to read and check this out. At the bottom of this show I will post the full card for the 5/13 event, which has been named 'Kingdom Come'. Enjoy!

http://i751.photobucket.com/albums/xx157/tcox88/ROH1.jpg

Battle of Long Island

Long Island, NY

May 12, 2006

Lacey – “That is exactly what I was talking about Jimmy! The way you and Adam handled BJ in Cleveland is what I want from you, a ruthless side that will help bring money to Lacey’s Angels. I would LOVE it if you can beat Bryan Danielson tomorrow night.”

Jimmy – “You would love me if I became World Champion Lacey?”

Lacey – “No Jimmy. IT. I would love IT if you became World Champion. Think of the money that we could have. And if you want to make me happy Jimmy, then money is what you need to give me. Help me make Lacey’s Angels very, very rich. Remember, this is all business Jimmy.”

Jimmy stood there looking semi-dejected, but after a moment he smiled. What was going on in his twisted mind, no one knew but Jimmy himself.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Samoa Joe – “I am going to make this short and sweet. Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnolli and your so-called ‘Kingdom’…you all need to be ready. Because my name is Samoa Joe, and this is Ring of Honor, MY kingdom, MY playground. You are in MY house and this big bad a** dog doesn’t take too kindly to people trespassing in his yard. And I can guarantee you that my bite is much more severe than my bite. Tonight, I will begin to dismantle your kingdom and will start with the Necro Butcher.”

Jay and Mark Briscoe vs The Irish Airborne

Ring of Honor prides itself in its Tag Team division and wanting to make it stronger than any other company out there. So the decision to start with one of the greatest ROH tag teams and a new breed of teams helped kick off the weekend in front of a hot crowd! Jake and Dave Crist took the match to the former two time ROH Tag Team Champions and showed that they were certainly no pushovers. The experience of the Briscoes did prove to be the undoing of the Irish Airborne however. Jake was taken out by a Cuthroat Suplex and Dave was pinned following a J-Driller from the top rope!

After the match, the fans showed their appreciation for the Airborne, showing them that they are welcome in ROH at anytime.

Jay and Mark Briscoe win by pinfall in 10:32

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Round 1

Jerry Lynn vs Ricky Reyes

Ricky Reyes may not be known for being a great pure wrestler like Jerry Lynn, but he did take the match to the veteran. Lynn was wary of the strikes and kicks of Reyes as he tried to counter them by using his superior speed (which is something great for a man his age) and his experience. It was that experience factor that led Lynn to victory but only after a Cradle to the Grave Piledriver!

Jerry Lynn wins by pinfall in 11:48

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Round 1

BJ Whitmer vs Jimmy Rave

Despite being beaten down and left in a bloody heap last time out, BJ Whitmer came out to the ring for his match with Jimmy Rave with a determined look on his face. He was ready to put the Weekend of Champions behind him and move on in the Pure Title Tournament. But Jimmy Rave (who was looking to prove he was better than Shelley after believing his partner to be a weak link) was determined as well. The two traded offense before BJ took the upper hand and asserted his dominance over his younger opponent. Before he was able to finish off Jimmy, Lacey made her presence known came out to the ring. Paul Turner attempted to throw her out, but her distraction was enough for Jimmy Rave to low blow BJ and cradle him up for a surprise three count and move on to the semi-finals!

BJ was livid and tried to plead his case to the referee. Lacey got into the ring and began to run her mouth. Whitmer grabbed her by the arm and motioned for another Wrist Clutch Exploder, but Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce once more made the save. This time Adam and Jimmy did all of the dirty work and left Whitmer on the mat for the second successive show.

Jimmy Rave wins by pinfall in 14:07

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Round 1

Jay Lethal vs Tony Mamaluke

A former Pure Wrestling Champion, Jay Lethal was the obvious favorite in many fans eyes for this match, but Tony proved that he could not and should not be underestimated. Mamaluke dominated the opening exchanges of the match by using underhanded tactics, and a couple of eye gouges to keep Jay Lethal’s back against the wall. Tony almost had the victory, had the referee not caught his feet on the rope. Lethal finished off the match with a Dragon Suplex that he bridged into a pin to advance.

Jay Lethal wins by pinfall in 11:12

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Round 1

Alex Shelley vs Matt Sydal

It was another edition of Generation Next vs the Embassy, but this time it was in the Pure Title Tournament. Shelley was nearly crowned Pure Champion in 2004 but barely lost out to Doug Williams, so he had a bit of a point to prove. Sydal felt he had his own point to prove by winning his first title in ROH. The match started with a fast pace that was set by Sydal, who was not wanting to be taken to the ground by Shelley. Alex finally was able to get his hands on his opponent and instantly made the match a ground game. Matt was no pushover though, and took his nemesis to the limit. A Shellshock and Border City Stretch was enough for Shelley to advance to the semi-finals and get a win over Generation Next.

Alex Shelley wins by submission in 14:16

Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce vs Colt Cabana and Ace Steel

Two of the three Second City Saints were reunited for a special tag team match against Lacey’s ‘new’ Angels. Colt began the match by pissing off Jimmy and continuously flirting with his love interest Lacey. She looked somewhat disgusted and once more proved a distraction to help her team. Colt and Ace were the more experience tag team and were able to cut off the ring and keep the tag between Jimmy and Pearce limited in the early goings. But Lacey reared her head again which allowed Colt to chase her out of the ring and up onto the apron. Jimmy darted towards Colt and inadvertently knocked him through the timekeepers table! Ace looked on at his partner and was finally put down after Pearce pinned him following a Contra Code from Jimmy.

Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce win by pinfall in 13:25

ROH World Heavyweight Title #1 Contender’s Match

Homicide vs Chris Hero vs AJ Styles vs Delirous

Chris Hero was looking to do whatever he could to bring his Kingdom to the forefront of ROH, and that meant by getting to the ROH World Title. But he would have to go through three ROH stars first. For the beginning portions of the match, it went as a traditional Four Corner Survival with tag and the occasional double team move. But has time progressed the match deteriorated into a wild and crazy brawl. It became apparent that the other three men in the match did NOT want Hero challenging for the World Title and did what they could to prevent that. AJ Styles came very close to winning after a Styles Clash on Chris Hero saw him get a near fall but was broken up by Homicide. Styles got up and got into the face of the ‘187’ and the two began to have a verbal exchange. They finally began to exchange blows and brawl inside the ring. Delirious took the opportunity to cover Hero 1…2…but Hero was able to kick out right as Sinclair’s hand was coming down. Homicide finally eliminated Styles from the ring as well as Hero, and put down Delirious with a Cop Killa to become the #1 contender to the World Title.

Homicide won via pinfall in 17:19

Christopher Daniels vs Claudio Castagnolli

The bell didn’t even have a chance to ring before Daniels was ready to get his hands on Claudio. The ref pushed Daniels back into a corner to try and calm him…but Claudio took advantage of the opening and clocked Daniels with big rights and uppercuts. The two had a very open contest, exchanging the advantage with one another in the early goings. After taking the advantage late in the match, Claudio began to show off and saunter around the ring like the king he thought he was. He set Daniels up for a Riccola Bomb and nailed it EMPHATICALLY. He took his time before covering Daniels 1…2…, but the Fallen Angel was able to get his shoulder up and continue on fighting! Claudio looked to the ref and made sure that the count was indeed 2 and not the 3 that he sought after. He looked down to Daniels and was caught off guard with an inside cradle but was able to kick out himself at 2. Daniels was able to feed off of the adrenaline that began to course through him and nail Claudio with a Last Rites, to set up a B.M.E. to get the victory for himself.

Christopher Daniels wins by pinfall in 17:01

Relaxed Rules Match

Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher

Before the match competitors were announced, Bobby Cruise announced that ROH officials made this contest a ‘relaxed rules’ match. Joe and Necro stood in the ring looking at each other with the “Joe’s gonna kill you” chants coming from the Long Island fans. The bell rang and both men charged at each other like bulls and exchanged clubbing blows on one another with neither man gaining the advantage. Necro used the relaxed rules to his advantage, bringing in a chair to the match, as well as a belt from the shorts he was wearing. It was Joe who was able to get a hold of the belt and after stripping the shirt off of Necro’s back, began to whip and beat him with it! Welts and red marks became very visible on the skin of Butcher. Necro was able to get the upper hand and introduced a table into the contest. Both men fought over the advantage of the match vigorously but it was Joe who would gain it with successive chair shots to the head of Necro. He finished the match off with a Muscle Buster through the table that, ironically, Necro introduced!

Joe stood victorious but after the match was met by Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnolli, and the fourth member of the Kingdom, Kevin Steen! Joe put his fists up and challenged the three men to come and fight him. Before they could, Christopher Daniels and BJ Whitmer entered the ring to even the odds and send the Kingdom into the fans and out the building.

Samoa Joe wins by pinfall in 11:17

Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship Match

Austin Aries and Roderick Strong© vs ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson and NWA World Champion Christian Cage

This was truly a ‘Champions vs Champions’ match and one of the most anticipated Tag Team title matches in ROH history. Aries and Strong had the clear advantage in terms of being a tag team and a cohesive unit, but Danielson and Cage had the advantage in terms of years in the business. Roderick and Danielson started the match off and Danielson (using all that he had learned in his three matches against Roderick) did all that he could to avoid every chop that Strong attempted to throw at him. This frustrated Strong, but allowed Danielson to gain the advantage. The makeshift tag team of World Champions kept the ring cut off and made 3 tags to every 1 that the Tag Team Champions made in the early goings. Strong and Aries were able to finally exert their own bit of dominance in the math and take their first real big advantage over Cage. Roderick was able to turn the chest of Cage red with his brutal knife edge chops and kept Christian reeling. The match finally broke down and Todd Sinclair lost all control of who was the legal man. Christian was able to put Roderick down with an Unprettier and nearly upset the tag team champions, had it not been for the quick feet of Austin Aries who caught Cage in the head with a huge kick, reminiscent of the one he used on Samoa Joe in 2004. Danielson charged into the ring to meet Aries and the two traded blow after blow. Roderick was able to get to his feet and despite the Unprettier, he was able to get Danielson with a Backbreaker Combo and a Gibson Driver. That allowed Aries the time to get up to the top rope and hit the 450 Splash! He hooked Danielson’s leg and was able to pin the ROH World Champion 1…2…3!

Aries and Strong celebrated as both World Champions got to their feet. Christian extended his hand and shook hands with Aries and Strong. Danielson approached them and faked them out and left the ring in a very disrespectful fashion.

Aries and Strong retain the ROH Tag Team Titles by pinfall in 24:50

Quick Results
The Briscoes def. Chris and I have chosen BJ to be our third partner and I can guarantee that we will be out for blood as we look to take down this ‘Kingdom’ of goons in my house. I have spent too many years and shed too much blood to watch my company be destroyed by a group of piss ants who want to make a name for themselves. So tonight, the fans need to be ready to watch those three men get torn apart, get their faces kicked in, and ultimately get the h*** beat out of them. Because my name is Samoa Joe…and Ring of Honor is my playground!”

Colt Cabana vs Adam Pearce vs Tony Mamaluke vs Ricky Reyes

Cabana was in a fighting mood and forgot about many of his comedic tactics and went right after Adam Pearce. The two, of course, were involved in a tag team match the night before and Colt hadn’t forgotten. This allowed though, Reyes and Mamaluke to help Pearce triple team and make frequent tags between the three men. Cabana was clearly the man without a country but did his best to keep himself in the match and not receive too much punishment. Mamaluke held Cabana and waited for Reyes to catch with a kick to the head, but Cabana moved and the vicious kick drilled Mamaluke. Cabana was able to get Reyes out of the ring and get a quick roll-up on Pearce to win the Four Corner Survival and live to fight another day!

Colt Cabana wins by pinfall in 10:53

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Semi-Finals

Jay Lethal vs Alex Shelley

Still feeling that he had an advantage over the other competitors, Lethal entered his semi-final match in a very cocky and confident mood. Shelley though was still looking to outdo Jimmy Rave and bring a singles championship to the Embassy. Both men showcased their technical abilities, with Shelley proving that he did have the edge over Lethal in that area. The contest began to evolve into a series of one-upsmanship as both men attempted high impact and aerial moves that looked to put down their opponent. Shelley was literally ‘shellshocked’ when Lethal was able to get his shoulder up after Shelley had hit him with his signature move. Shelley got a deranged look in his eyes and slapped on the Border City Stretch and applied with a great amount of anger, giving Lethal no choice but to tap out and send Alex Shelley through to finals just like he had done two years ago.

Alex Shelley wins by submission in 12:17

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Semi-Finals

Jerry Lynn vs Jimmy Rave

Prince Nana did all he could to psyche and pump up Rave for a possible Embassy vs Embassy showdown in the finals of the Pure Title Tournament. Lynn was the clear crowd favorite and the New Jersey fans were vocal about their support. Rave did what he could in the early going to keep up with the veteran but Lynn was proving to be no match for the younger competitor. It wasn’t until Nana made his presence known that Jimmy began to get the upperhand. Successive eye gouges kept Lynn on the ropes and Jimmy in the drivers seat as he began to focus on Jerry’s ankle. Twice Rave had Lynn in a heel submission that he called the Heel Hook, but twice Lynn was able to get to the ropes and break the hold. Jimmy looked to finish it off with a ‘Pedigree’, but Lynn was able to twist out of it and get Jimmy with a Cradle to the Grave Piledriver and keep his chances alive of winning the Ring of Honor Pure Championship.

Jerry Lynn wins by pinfall in 14:27

Tag Team Scramble Match

The Irish Airborne vs Matt Sydal and Jack Evans vs Jason Blade and Kid Mikaze vs Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark

Youth was the theme in this scramble match with Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark making their debut on the main show. Sydal and Evans, who have enjoyed moderate success as a tag team in the last couple of shows were considered to be the favorites in this one. The match contained many high aerial dives and all 8 men putting their bodies on the line (especially Jack Evans) to help win the match for their respective team. Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark were able to get the shock victory after Clark hit his awesome 630 Splash on Blade for the win.

Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark won by pinfall in 11:32

Austin Aries vs Mark Briscoe

Two first time matches were about to take place in ROH to help set up the ROH Tag Team Title Match between Generation Next and The Briscoes. Both men traded the advantage early on in the match and exchanged high impact shots. Mark’s determination and bullheadedness kept him from getting the clear advantage and allowed Aries the opportunity to take control. Aries attempted his Brainbuster on a couple of occasions but was unsuccessful, leading him to attempt to submit Mark by locking in the Horns of Aries on a couple of occasions. Mark fought back though and began to take the fight to the tag team champion. Aries was able to set Mark up for the 450 Splash but on his way down Mark moved. Aries rolled away and charged, but Mark caught him off guard with a leg lariat and set him up for the Cuthroat Driver and nailed it! He covered Aries for the 1…2…3!

Mark Briscoe wins by pinfall in 14:16

Jay Briscoe vs Roderick Strong

Roderick had the strength advantage over Jay, but much like in the last match, Jay had the experience edge over the tag team champion. So it was no surprise when Jay took the early advantage and was able to maintain it for most of the match. Roderick began to pelt Jay with Knife Edge Chops and turn the chest of his opponent red, and even began to blister it up a little. Both men turned the match into an all-out brawl and slugfest that spilled in and out of the ring. Roderick caught Jay with a huge running knee and set up him up for a Gibson Driver and nailed it! He covered Jay, but only was able to get a VERY close near fall. Roderick grabbed Jay’s legs and went for the Stronghold, but Jay was able to twist and turn his way out of it. Jay had a burst of adrenaline and caught Roderick with a couple of Yakuza Kicks and followed it up with a J-Driller to score the win over Roderick.

Jay Briscoe wins by pinfall in 13:15

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title Tournament Finals

Pure Wrestling Rules Match

Jerry Lynn vs Alex Shelley

After a long two night tournament, both men were visibly tired and eager to end the match early on. It was set in a Pure Wrestling Rules Match, something that both men had little experience in. They were able to adapt very quickly, showing the intelligence of both wrestlers. The two used an early ropebreak, and continued to adjust their styles of wrestling to the interesting and different rules of the Pure Wrestling Title. Shelley began to take advantage of the match and start to work over the ankle of Lynn that Jimmy Rave started on earlier in the show. Lynn was able to battle back and take the match to Shelley and forced him to use his remaining two ropebreaks and put the younger wrestler in a clear disadvantage! Lynn was able to catch Shelley with a Cradle to the Grave Piledriver and cover him 1…2…, but Lynn lost his concentration when Shelley grabbed the bottom rope and Lynn forgot about the ropebreak rules! Shelley wisely rolled out of the ring as fans began to cheer for Lynn to follow up on the advantage. Shelley used this momentary lapse of judgment to send Lynn head first into the ringpost. They both entered back into the ring before the 20 count was up and Shelley was able to drop Lynn on his head with a Shellshock 1…2… but Lynn was able to kick out this time! Shelley was stunned and this time hit him with a further 2 Shellshocks. He covered Lynn for a 1…2…3! Shelley was awarded the Pure Title and gave Nana a half- hearted embrace.

Alex Shelley wins the ROH Pure Wrestling Championship by pinfall in 18:45

AJ Styles vs Homicide

Both men shook hands at the onset of this match and prepared for what would be an awesome ride for the New Jersey fans. The match started off with both men working a technical masterpiece and showcasing what Ring of Honor wrestling is all about. The two men traded counter attacks and stiff strikes that kept each other on their toes. Neither man was able to get a clear cut advantage with the momentum being traded back and forth for the majority of the opening exchanges, and the crowd dueling in their chants for both AJ and Homicide. Homicide was already the #1 Contender for the ROH World Title, but would have loved to have kept the momentum going against one of the stalwarts of the company. It was his opponent who would strike the first major blow as AJ was able to hit Homicide with his patented Lionsault DDT and gain a near fall from it. AJ followed up his advantage with a variety of high impact strikes and suplexes, and even using a basic Abdominal Stretch, to show just how far he had come in his career and since he first wrestled Homicide. An Ace Crusher, that came out of nowhere, halted all of the momentum AJ had built up and let Homicide catch the few minutes he needed to recuperate and get his adrenaline pumping. The crowd was now firmly behind Homicide and wanted to see him walk away with the ‘W’ and he did all he could to oblige them. Barring using the ghetto fork that he is famously known for, Homicide did all he could to keep AJ down for a three count but the Phenomenal One kept himself in the match and Homicide frustrated. AJ looked to have had the match in his hands when he set Homicide up for a Styles Clash. But the ‘Notorious 187’ was not to be denied as he wriggled out of the move and caught AJ in a Cop Killa and get the 1…2…3!

The two men shook hands again at the end of the match and Homicide requested a mic once AJ had left the ringside area.

Homicide – “Bryan Danielson! Following the handshake, Jimmy darted towards Danielson and was relentless with forearms and clubbing blows to the head and body. Lacey cheered her ‘business investment’ on from ringside and watched as Jimmy picked up a couple of nearfalls that caught Danielson by complete surprise. The champion then got angry and unleashed his fury on the challenger with a barrage of forearm strikes to the head and a stiff number of suplexes! Jimmy did not give up however and kept himself in the match following an eye gouge and a quick rendezvous with Lacey on the outside. Danielson trailed him and the two began to brawl all over the ringside area and at one point even spilled into the hot Edison crowd. Bryan had Jimmy incapacitated in the crowd and entered the ring in an attempt to dive out onto him. But Lacey, beautiful as ever) jumped onto the apron to distract him. Danielson got down and grabbed her by the hair and planted a kiss on her, something that sent Jimmy overboard! He quickly got into the ring and speared Danielson and unleashed a fury of rights and lefts that had Paul Turner threatening to disqualify him had he not let up. Even Lacey was unable to calm Jimmy down as he set up Danielson for a Contra Code! He ran towards the ropes but Bryan was able to halt him momentum and quickly roll backwards and take Jimmy with him and score another flash pinfall, this time with an Ocana Roll!

Danielson made another quick exit with the ROH World Title as Jimmy looked to the ref, still irate over what had just transpired. Lacey looked at him and told him to find a way to take out his aggression…so Jimmy grabbed Paul Turner and hit him with Contra Code! Despite it being No DQ, the match started off very controlled and reminiscent of a traditional 6-Man Tag Match. Joe thought he was going to be starting off the match against Hero, but a quick tag to Castagnolli frustrated the former ROH Champion. Throughout the contest, Hero did everything he could to avoid Joe out of a fear of being torn apart. It only took about 7 or 8 minutes for the match to completely disintegrate into the wild brawl man fans knew it was going to be. Joe still hadn’t gotten his hands on Hero yet, but made sure to punish Castagnolli and the Necro Butcher every chance he got. There were multiple chairs, tables, a barbed wire bat (which helped see the first amounts of blood flow), a part of the ringside barricade and even Necro’s belt once more. BJ Whitmer took the belt from Necro, and after adding more welts to the ones he had the previous night from his match with Joe, handed it to Joe himself and along with Christopher Daniels, were able to corner Chris Hero. Hero pleaded for his life but Joe was not in a very forgiving mood on this occasion. He whipped and pelted Hero with the belt time and time again until Claudio and Necro were able to make the save. BJ was made a non-factor in the match when Necro aided Claudio in a Riccola bomb onto the steel barricade, causing a rather loud “Holy Sh*t!” chant from the fans. Daniels and Joe fought off the three the best they could but the 4th member of the Kingdom Kevin Steen made an appearance and things began to get ugly for the two men. Daniels was taken out after Steen planted him headfirst onto a steel chair with a Package Piledriver, leaving only Samoa Joe left for the Kingdom to eliminate. Joe fought valiantly but his efforts were ultimately in vain as the numbers advantage proved to be too much for him. After a severe beat down by Steen, Claudio and Necro, Hero FINALLY wanted to have himself a piece of Joe. Mercifully, Hero nailed Joe with an emphatic Hero’s Welcome and was able to actually pin him for a 1…2…3!

Hero acted as if he had just won the ROH World Championship, embracing the rest of the Kingdom and dropping to his knees pretending to cry. The fans threw garbage and littered the arena with boos and derogatory chants and middle fingers towards the Kingdom, but the fact was that they had scored a massive win over their rivals, and looked very strong in the process. Hero and the rest of the Kingdom held their hands above them as Hero himself put one foot over the man he conquered.

The Kingdom wins by pinfall in 17:18

Quick Results
Alex Shelley def. The loss at the hands of The Kingdom was as heartbreaking as it was shocking and sent many waves throughout the world of professional wrestling. BJ Whitmer suffered a concussion after taking the Riccola Bomb onto the steel barricade and will not be in East Windsor for the upcoming ‘Ring of Homicide’ event. He has told ROH officials that once he is back at 100% he wants to get his hands on any member of the Kingdom. Samoa Joe has requested the night off before his big match on 6/17, so Christopher Daniels has stepped up and will take on the Kingdom’s Kevin Steen! In order to make sure this is a fair and clean contest, ROH officials have barred ANYONE from ringside unless they are backstage workers, medical, or camera men. We will do all that we can to insure that this order holds true.

Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnolli WILL be in competition as they take on a tag team whose stock is rising in ROH, Matt Sydal and Jack Evans! The Generation Next members have been looking to step outside of the shadow of the ROH Tag Team Champions and a win here would be massive to their credentials.

Ring of Honor World Champion Bryan Danielson will take on one his toughest competitors as he battles #1 Contender ’The Notorious 187’ Homicide! Samoa Joe has said that he will be in the corner of Homicide during this contest as he would love to see the man become the Ring of Honor World Champion. Will this be the defining moment in Homicide’s career? Or will it be the defining moment in the title reign of Bryan Danielson as he looks to head into the 9th month of his title reign?

Speaking of title matches ROH Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong will be defending the ROH Tag Team Titles against the #1 contenders Jay and Mark Briscoe! ROH fans have been waiting since the Briscoes return in February to see these two teams go head-to-head for the gold and in East Windsor, CT they will finally get their wish.

And one final major piece of business from ROH Officials, the attack on Paul Turner by Jimmy Jacobs. ROH Officials will in NO WAY tolerate an attack on referees in any way shape or form. They must be treated with the utmost respect! That is why Jimmy has been fined for his actions. The amount will remain disclosed for now. Lacey has aired her grievances already with ROH Officials and we stand behind our decision. Jimmy Jacobs will not be suspended but it will be sometime before Jimmy is in any position to become a champion in ROH.

• Alex Shelley, who recently became the Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Champion, will team with fellow Embassy member Jimmy Rave and take on Colt Cabana and Delirious! 6-Man Mayhem

Jay Lethal vs Jake Crist vs Dave Crist vs Ricky Reyes vs Jimmy Jacobs vs Tony Mamaluke

It was an interesting and high impact way to kick off what could be a very important night in Ring of Honor. Reyes, who clearly had the strength advantage, used that to his own gain and early on laid out the rest of his competitors with stiff kicks and strikes. It wasn’t all smooth sailing though, as The Irish Airborne used a few double team moves to keep Reyes down and out of the picture for a few moments. A crazed Jimmy Jacobs, who was clearly not happy about the sanctions placed on him by ROH officials made his presence known by delivering a pair of spears on the Airborne and Tony Mamaluke as well. Jay Lethal looked to have had the match won when he set Jacobs up for a Dragon Suplex, but Jimmy was able to reverse it into a Contra Code! Jay reversed the move himself and was able to finally hit Jimmy with the Dragon Suplex for the win/

Jay Lethal wins by pinfall in 11:50

Davey Richards vs Sal Rinauro

Davey Richards had been impressing on the pre-show card with emphatic wins over ROH School Graduates Shane Hagadorn and Derrick Dempsey. It was very clear that he had what it took to step into the ring with the current crop of ROH stars and he took former ROH Tag Team Champion Sal Rinauro to the limit. Rinauro was able to get some offense in on Davey, but it wasn’t enough as Davey proved himself to be too strong. A series of vicious kicks, followed by what he called the ‘DR Driver’, was enough to put down Sal Rinauro for a very impressive Ring of Honor debut, one of the most impressive seen in recent years.

Davey Richards win by pinfall in 9:49

The Embassy of Alex Shelley and Jimmy Rave vs Colt Cabana and Delirious

Alex Shelley made sure he was able to show off his newly won Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Title to the East Windsor crowd. Rave was clearly not impressed, nor was their opponents for the evening. Cabana handpicked Delirious for this match and hoped that the two could form a formidable tag team. Once the bell rang, Delirious was all business and took the fight to the Embassy. Delirious was able to hold his own for the beginning portions of the contest despite numerous attempts to double team him. Cabana was able to inject new life into the match and kept the Embassy on their toes. Prince Nana tried to interfere, but Cabana drug him into the ring and held him for Delirious. The masked man out Nana down and was able to lock in a Cobra Stretch on him before Rave and Shelley could make the save. Delirious and Rave clotheslined one another over the top rope, leaving Cabana and the Pure Wrestling Champion in the ring together. Shelley looked to have the match one by going for a Shellshock, but Cabana wriggled his way free and caught Shelley with a Colt .45! He covered the Pure Champion for a three count!

Cabana celebrated with Delirious and left the ringside area. Rave got into the ring and stared at Shelley for once more taking the fall in a tag team match. A small shoving match took place between the two before Rave slapped Shelley across the face and told him that he was the weak link in the Embassy. Nana, clearly in pain, got back to his feet and did what he could to keep the two men apart for now.

Colt Cabana and Delirious win by pinfall in 14:49

Low Ki vs Jerry Lynn

Both men took part in the tournament to crown the first ROH Champion, and now here they were four years later, competing against one another. Lynn was looking to rebound from losing in the finals of the Pure Wrestling Title Tournament, while Low Ki was looking to use this match as a warm-up for the three-way match he will take part in in 2 weeks’ time. Low Ki clearly thought he was being disrespected by being signed to wrestle an older wrestler such as Jerry Lynn…so Lynn took his arrogance and used it against him. Lynn started the match off by wrestling a great mat and technical game and forcing Low Ki to not use his patented striking ability that was most famously known for. Despite his age, Lynn was working very quickly and keeping Low Ki on edge. He was caught though by a massive kick to the head that sent him reeling and gave Ki the opportunity he was looking for. Ki got Lynn in the corner and unloaded strike after strike that found their mark despite Lynn doing his best to try and cover up and rope-a-dope with Low Ki. Now it was Low Ki who had the clear advantage. He was shocked when Jerry Lynn was somehow able to get his shoulder up from a pin attempt, after Low Ki had caught him with a Tree of Woe Ghetto Stomp! The heart of Lynn was impressing the crowd and they continued to give him the support he needed to try and defeat his younger adversary. Low Ki’s dominance would continue though and after TWO Ki Crushers, Low Ki was able to pin Jerry Lynn and walk away with the victory.

Low Ki wins by in 18:29

The Kings of Wrestling vs Matt Sydal and Jack Evans

Jack Evans and Matt Sydal were the clear favorites in this match, but that didn’t stop Hero and Castagnolli from doing what they could to try and steal the spotlight from them. Despite being littered with boos, Hero soaked up the jeers and used them as the catalyst for the early advantage he and his tag team partner gained. The Kings were able to cut off the ring from Generation Next and keep them from making tags, and at the same time, they were able to make frequent tags themselves. Jack, the main focus of the assault, was finally able to make the tag to bring Sydal into the match, and he was able to make a huge impact for his team. Now it was Generation Next who was able to keep the ring cut off from the Kings and themselves make the frequent and necessary tags. Both teams traded the advantage towards the end of the match despite all four men getting a great amount of offense. Hero was finally able to eliminate Evans with a massive Yakuza kick, and Sydal was put down for the three count following the devastating K.R.S. – 1 finishing move!

The Kings of Wrestling win by pinfall in 19:16

Christopher Daniels vs Kevin Steen

To say that Christopher Daniels was out for revenge in this match was an understatement. Neither man shook hands at the beginning of the match, instead, they opted to start the match off by teeing off on one another with huge right handed shots. Neither man was able to gain the advantage and continued to brawl in the ring. The action even spilled out into the floor and into the fans around the ring. Kevin Steen was able to hold his own against the veteran Christopher Daniels and even got in a good amount off offense while the two were outside of the squared circle. They were able to finally get back into the ring, and Daniels turned the match into a technical bout, giving him a slight advantage. He was shocked when Steen began to keep up with him, and even gain some momentum and keep Daniels on his toes. Steen was able to hit Daniels with a sick Package Piledriver and nearly won the match, had Daniels not gotten his foot on the bottom rope! Steen drug Daniels into the middle of the ring and scaled the top rope! He went for a Senton Bomb but Daniels rolled out of the way, causing Steen to crash hard into the match below. Daniels picked Steen up from the mat and hit him with the Angel’s Wings! 1…2…, but NO! Steen somehow got his shoulder up at the last second, shocking Daniels and sent the fans in Connecticut into a frenzy. Were they about to witness a huge upset? Daniels picked Steen up once more and delivered a second Angel’s Wings, but made to attempt to pin him. He rolled him over, walked to the turnbuckle and hit the beautiful Best Moonsault Ever for the three count!

As Paul Turner raised Daniels hand, Daniels looked down at Steen, realizing that this conflict with the Kings of Wrestling and their Kingdom was going to be much tougher than he or Joe had even initially expected.

Christopher Daniels wins by pinfall in 16:22

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship Match

Bryan Danielson© vs Homicide

This was arguably the most anticipated of Bryan Danielson’s World Title defenses, with possibly the exception of the Lance Storm contest. Samoa Joe, who had the night off, sat at the timekeepers table on the outside. The Code of Honor was followed, and what transpired over the next thirty minutes left the East Windsor crowd on an awesome roller coaster ride. The fans were cheering for Homicide, making him the obvious favorite to win the match. Like most of Danielson’s matches, it began with him trying to impose his will and dominate the match with a strong technical and mat game. This time, however, Homicide was up to the challenge and matched Danielson hold for hold and bewildered the self-proclaimed “best wrestler in the world”. Homicide took it a step further and even had an early advantage over Dragon and was able to stun him with a succession of nearfall attempts. Enraged, Danielson came at Homicide, motivated to prove he was the better wrestler and unleashed a flurry of stiff forearm strikes and uppercuts that rocked the challenger. The match then became an apparent brawl and a human chess match as both me jockeyed for the advantage and searched for the opening that would allow them to hit that one big move! It was Danielson who finally found a breakthrough and after a Regal Plex (that saw a nearfall) and a Roaring Elbow (that also saw anear pin attempt) the American Dragon was finally able to keep the momentum on his side for an extended period of time. He used various submission holds and stiff strikes that Homicide was unable to counter. A Super Back Body Drop saw Danielson attempt Cattle Mutalation. Homicide was, at first, able to keep the champion from bridging and full lock in the move…but the tenacity of Danielson proved to be too much and the submission hold that put away many men was finally locked in. Homicide was able to work his way around the ring and get his feet onto the bottom rope and break the hold. Clearly frustrated, Dragon pulled Homicide into the middle of the ring and began to beat him with a series of MMA elbows! The fans were cheering for Homicide to get out of the hold and after nearly 30 seconds of being pummeled, he was finally able to find enough in his reserves to stop the beating and begin to work his way to his feet. Dragon attempted another Roaring Elbow but Homicide ducked and this time it was he who locked Danielson in a Cattle Mutalation submission hold! The East Windsor fans were begging to see Dragon tap and to have Homicide win the ROH World Title! But Dragon was too close to the ropes and, like Homicide, got his feet on the bottom rope. Homicide was relentless in keeping the advantage and took Danielson down with an Ace Krusher that ended in a nearfall and a devastating Cop Killa! He hooked the far leg 1…2……NO! Dragon was somehow able to kick out of Homicide’s most devastating move! Frustrated, Homicide confirmed with Todd Sinclair that it was a two count. He turned around and ducked yet another attempt at a Roaring Elbow and measured Danielson for a Lariat…but Dragon was able to duck himself. However, he caught Homicide with a cradle and grabbed Homicide’s pants as Todd Sinclair made a 1…2…thr-NO! Homicide kicked out! Both men got to their feet and traded blows back and forth, neither able to gain the upperhand. Homicide finally did went to set Danielson up for a second Cop Killa. Dragon wriggled his way free and bounced Homicide off the ropes and rolled him up a second time. This time, Dragon not only grabbed Homicide’s pants but also the ropes behind him. Sinclair, oblivious to the cheating got down and counted a 1…2…3!

The fans booed and even a couple of empty drink cups were thrown into the ring to show their disgust. Danielson took the World Title and mocked Homicide by extending his hand to follow the Code of Honor. Homicide refused and got into the face of Todd Sinclair. Dragon left and Homicide continued to berate Sinclair for not noticing the clear underhanded tactics by Danielson. Sinclair continued to tell him that he didn’t see anything. Samoa Joe got into the ring and helped keep Homicide calm and cool, but not even the combined efforts of Joe and Julius Smokes kept Homicide calm. It was then that the lights went off and Low Ki’s music played throughout the arena! He sauntered down to the ring and looked at the three men in the ring. He asked for a mic to address his greatest opponent and one of his best friends.

Low Ki – “I saw what happened and let me say I am disgusted. Disgusted you COULDN’T win the ROH Title Homicide. That pale piece of s*** is no better than you. How can you call yourself a Rottweiler? You are nothing more than a little b****!”

Samoa Joe had heard enough and got into Low Ki’s face. The fans were chanting for a match to be had (their first singles match in ROH since the first Glory By Honor), but Low Ki wisely ducked out of the ring before Joe could rip his head off. Homicide picked up the mic.

Homicide – “Be careful what you want to start Low Ki. You know who I am, I am one crazy mutha f****! And I will make sure I take you out if you want to cross me.”

Joe and Homicide stood united, but that was only for a second when Ricky Reyes, and a returning Rocky Romero jumped from the fans with a couple of chairs and leveled the two men in the ring! After the short attack they dropped the chairs and joined Low Ki on the ramp, reuniting the rest of the Rottweilers!

Ring of Honor Tag Team Championship Match

Austin Aries and Roderick Strong© vs Jay and Mark Briscoe

Generation Next were currently the best tag team in ROH, shown by their holding the ROH Tag Team Titles, but Jay and Mark Briscoe were ready to show them who they thought was the best tag team in the promotion. Both teams traded early tags between their partners, with neither side really able to cut off the ring and keep one of their opponents in their half of the ring. Roderick and Jay, much like they did at the last show, exchanged stiff blows and chops that echoed around the arena. Roderick backed Jay into a corner and unloaded multiple Knife Edge Chops that slowly began to turn Jay’s chest blood red. The Briscoes were finally to keep Aries in their half of the ring and began to deliver the double team moves that made them one of the best in the industry. They backed Aries into a corner and both men unloaded with chops and strikes to the head and chest of Austin. They even went as far as to taunt Roderick and bait him into the ring in order to keep their advantage and make assumed tags behind the refs back. Aries was finally able to roll away from the double team attack and nearly make the tag to Roderick, had it not been for a stiff stomp to the back of his head from Mark Briscoe. The younger Briscoe flipped off Strong, causing him to enter the ring. He brushed by Paul Turner and forearmed Mark in the face and once more chopped Jay. Referee Turner got in between Strong and Briscoe and tried to push Roderick out of the ring. While this was going on, Mark was able to drop Aries with a Cuthroat Driver and attempt to pin him. Roderick saw this and did what he could to keep the referee occupied to give Aries the time he needed to recuperate. The ref finally turned around and Mark only got a two count. Aries finally made the tag to Strong and his partner began to control the match and take apart both of the Briscoes with chops and strikes and backbreakers! This gave Aries the few minutes he needed to get his second win and try to get back into the match. He did so after Strong back Jay into a corner and Aries ran and caught him with a massive Dropkick that caught him square in the jaw! Paul Turner lost all control of the match as both teams attempted pin attempts that Turner counted only to a two count. Jay and Mark set Roderick up for a Doomsday Device, but once Mark got onto the top rope Aries was able to crotch him on the rope and send him tumbling to the outside! Strong was able to force his way down and bounced off the ropes and drilled Jay with a huge kick to the face! Aries rolled into the ring and nailed Jay with a Brainbuster! Strong grabbed the legs of Jay Briscoe and got him locked into the Stronghold! Aries stood next to him in anticipation for Mark attempting to enter the ring. He never got the chance to as Jay tapped out to the submission hold!

OOC: So, I know in 2006 KENTA had an extended run in ROH. Now while I am trying to do something different than history (despite using some show names) I am going to follow that a little. I will explain it in the newswire more. His being in ROH in ’06, I feel, made that summer and beginning of Autumn very fun and produced many amazing matches for the company.

http://i751.photobucket.com/albums/xx157/tcox88/ROH1.jpg

ROH Newswire June 5, 2006

It was a very emotional and eventful night in East Windsor this past weekend that saw Bryan Danielson retain the ROH World Title…by the use of less than champion-like tactics. Regardless, he is still the Ring of Honor World Champion and he will be taking part in a Non-Title Triple Threat Match at ‘The International Challenge’ on June 17th against Pro-Wrestling NOAH’s KENTA and the first ROH Champion Low Ki! This promises to be a hard hitting and exciting contest between three of the best wrestlers in the business today. No doubt, if Ki or KENTA were to get a pin over Danielson, they could be in line for a future World Title Shot.

Speaking of Low Ki, fans and friends were shocked when Low Ki and The Rottweilers attacked Samoa Joe and Homicide. Joe (who is already embroiled in another battle) has told ROH officials that he will deal with Low Ki and the Rottweilers in due time. But Homicide is pissed and wants to get revenge on the three men that he used to refer to as friends. BUT, he will have to wait until after ‘The International Challenge’ to get his revenge. Homicide will be taking part in the challenge series with Pro-Wrestling NOAH, and more on that later.

ROH Pure Wrestling Champion Alex Shelley is not happy at all after getting pinned by Colt Cabana in the tag team match this past weekend and has already told ROH officials that he wants Cabana in a singles match…and ROH officials will oblige. So on June 17, Alex Shelley will defend the ROH Pure Wrestling Title against Colt Cabana in his first title defense.

Now, onto the namesake of the event; Ring of Honor is very happy and proud to be welcoming back three NOAH wrestlers and happy to welcome for the first time, Mitsuhara Misawa and Jun Akiyama! We have already signed the Triple Threat Match and Samoa Joe vs Misawa, but we have not yet announced the other three matches…until today!

• Jun Akiyama will take part in what could be an amazing hard hitting contest as he takes on ROH Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong Strong requested to be part of the event and was granted his request. ROH officials were impressed with Roderick taking the initiative and stepped up to the plate for ROH!

• Homicide (as we mentioned above) will be taking part in this series as well and he wrestling the returning Ricky Marvin! Officials were impressed with the outing that Marvin gave back at the 100th Show against Low Ki and was given a second match with the company.

• Naomichi Marufuji’s match was a curious one to throw out to the fans. But after much deliberation, ROH officials have finally come up with an opponent. Since the 100th Show Chris Hero has been hell bent on making his mark on ROH. So now, he will get a chance to do so by going head to head with Marufuji.

• Kevin Steen despite being part of the Kingdom, impressed in his match against Christopher Daniels this past weekend. Now at The International Challenge he and Claudio Castganolli will face Daniels and BJ Whitmer in a tag team match.

On the next edition of the ROH newswire, we will have more information on the rest of the card for The International Challenge in New York, NY. And we will be given some information on the double shot in the Midwest the following weekend. Two World Title Matches are already signed, and KENTA will be joining ROH on an extended loan from Pro-Wrestling NOAH. KENTA has said that he wants to challenge for the ROH World Title, but wants to earn that shot first. ROH Officials will be working to get him opponents during his duration with the company.

Before we close this edition of the newswire, Homicide has a message for Low Ki, the Havana Pitbulls, and Bryan Danielson.

Homicide – “Low Ki! I thought we ran together. You and I were brothers. I brought you back in to Ring of Honor and this is how you repay me? Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero, if it wasn’t for me the two of you would never have made it in this company. And you pieces of s*** are gonna join up with this c*** sucka and attack me? Well guess what, you drew the line in the sand and after The International Challenge, I will be coming for you. And as for you Bryan Danielson…your b**** a** got lucky in Connecticut. But don’t worry, I will be coming after you. I WILL be the Ring of Honor World Champion!”

Hey everyone. I wanted to take a break from the diary for a post or two and see if anyone had any suggestions or ideas, gripes or complaints. I am very open to constructive criticism, so that means no "Hey you suck" lol.

But I really do want to know what you all think about this and if you would like to see anything different. I can tell you that I would like to provide pictures but my computer runs very slow these days, not to mention my wife is working on her masters degree so my time is limited. I have yet to do a prediction contest and if that is something you all would like to see, please let me know. I will continue on posting like I have been until I do have someone who would like to see changes.

You can either reply to this post or feel free to PM me. As I have said before, I am really enjoying this dynasty and where my ROH is headed. I have a few ideas for the rest of the year and even some big matches for 2007 that involve the World Title…if of course I make it that far.

Any advice is of course appreciated and will, hopefully, better serve you all…my ‘ROH fans’!

Thanks guys

Mamaluke may have been in the industry 7 years longer than the young Richards, but that didn’t stop Davey from taking the advantage at the opening bell. Tony was able to get in a small amount of offense, but it was yet another dominating display from the ROH rookie. Stiff kicks and forearms, followed up by the devastating DR-Driver finisher, saw Davey Richards get another victory for his start in ROH, impressing officials and fans once more.

Davey Richards wins by pinall in 8:38

Jay and Mark Briscoe vs Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark

Another set of young ROH stars in Jay Fury and Jerrelle Clark looked to cause a major upset in the beginning of their tenure with the company against Jay and Mark Briscoe. The first two time tag team champions were in a fighting and bad mood after their loss at the hands of Generation Next in the tag title match. Fury and Clark were aware and did what they could at first to avoid the strong style and high impact double team moves of the Briscoes…but eventually the cat caught the mouse. Clark was taken out after a Cutthroat Suplex by Mark, and a Shooting Star/Leg Drop Combination from both brothers on Fury was enough for the Briscoes to get back to winning ways.

Jay and Mark Briscoe win by pinfall in 11:15

Four Corner Survival

Jerry Lynn vs Austin Aries vs Jimmy Jacobs w/ Lacey vs AJ Styles

All four men had a case to want to win tonight, but Jimmy Jacobs seemed more motivated now that Lacey was seemingly healed from the attack by BJ Whitmer a few shows ago. This was your classic ROH Four Corner Survival and lived up to the expectation many of the fans had for it. All four put their bodies on the line, performing various high risk dives to the outside and hitting their opponents with high impact moves, looking to find ways to incapacitate one of their of the other four men in the match. Jimmy, for a few minutes, had the upperhand in the match and surprisingly looked the stronger of the four. AJ Styles though would bring himself back into the match after laying out Aries with a massive discus lariat. Lynn looked to have had the match won after a Cradle Piledriver to Jimmy, but as he covered Jacobs, AJ came off the top with a Spiral Tap! He rolled Jerry out of the ring and covered Jacobs for the 3 count and a hard earned win.

AJ Styles wins by pinfall in 15:55

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Championship Match

Alex Shelley© w/ Prince Nana vs Colt Cabana

Shelley did his best to try and keep himself focused on this match, and not the antics of Nana on the outside, who was more concerned with showing off the Pure Title then his man. Cabana used this small distraction to his advantage and tried to catch Shelley off guard early with a couple of flash pinfall attempts that Shelley was able to get out of. Nana tried to keep the champion calm, but Shelley continued to shrug him off and try to get back at Cabana for making him look foolish. Both men did what they could under the confines of the Pure Wrestling Rules to get and keep an advantage, but the unorthodox style of Cabana made it difficult for Shelley to do so. It wasn’t until Nana tried to get involved that Shelley was able to get himself into the driver’s seat of the match. Shelley tried numerous times to lock Cabana in the Border City Stretch, but the challenger used his final rope break, and found many creative ways to get out of the submission attempt. Finally though, Shelley locked Cabana in the middle of the ring in the Border City Stretch, and left Cabana with no choice but to tap out and allow Shelley to pick up the win.

Nana brought Shelley the Pure Wrestling Title and Shelley took it with a half-hearted smile on his face. The Prince did what he could to help keep Shelley in the moment but there was definitely a little bit of apprehension from the Pure Wrestling Champion.

Alex Shelley wins by submission in 14:59

Kevin Steen and Claudio Castagnolli vs Christopher Daniels and BJ Whitmer

BJ Whitmer may still have unfinished business with Jimmy Jacobs and Lacey, but he was once again drafted by Christopher Daniels in another battle against the Kingdom. Kevin Steen was out to prove a point and started out the match against Chris Daniels. Almost immediately, Steen charged Daniels and began to pummel him with hard right hands that forced the referee to continually intervene. Daniels did his best to fight back and keep himself in the match, but the tenacity and determination of Kevin Steen proved to be too much in the early goings of this one. It didn’t take long for the match to breakdown into a wild brawl (much like many of the matches involving the Kingdom had done before). Steen and Whitmer brawled out into the fans, while Daniels and Castagnolli continued the match in the ring. Still looking to beat respect in Castagnolli, Daniels let his wrestling technique and right hand do the talking, and even cut open Claudio following a shot head first into the ring post. BJ and Steen finally made their way back to the ringside area and BJ made Steen a non-factor with an Exploder Suplex from the ring apron through the timekeepers table on the outside! Claudio looked on in horror, only to find himself on the wrong end of an Angel’s Wings and his shoulders on the mat for a three count!

Christopher Daniels and BJ Whitmer win by pinfall in 15:54

It was intermission time and Samoa Joe stood in the back with a camera, waiting to cut his first promo since the attack by the Rottweilers.

Samoa Joe – “Way back in 2002, I was brought into ROH to face a man named Low Ki. After our match at Glory By Honor, I shook his hand. Fast forward now four years later and the man who many in the locker room looked up to and respected, he has become the one thing he swore to eliminate…and that is disrespect here in Ring of Honor. Now while my attention will be solely focused on my match with Mitsuhara Misawa…and a little pest by the name of Chris Hero, you can bet that I will be coming for you Low Ki, and that does include your two b****** named Rocky Romero and Ricky Reyes. I may not have always seen eye-to-eye with Homicide but now we have a common enemy. And I know that three of you will regret the day that you ever crossed Samoa Joe.”

Homicide vs Ricky Marvin

After impressing in his ROH debut against Low Ki, Ricky Marvin was brought back by ROH officials and now paired up with one of the companies finest in Homicide. The two shook hands, but it was Homicide who started off as the aggressor, coming off his defeat to Bryan Danielson back in Connecticut. It was a fairly open and very intense contest between the two that saw various styles of wrestling employed by the two during their match. Marvin was holding his own very impressively against Homicide, but the ‘Notorious 187’ always seemed to be one step ahead of Marvin, and it was an Ace Krusher and Cop Killa combination that helped Homicide pin his opponent and give Ring of Honor a 1-0 lead in the 5-match series.

Homicide wins by pinfall in 16:47

Chris Hero vs Naomichi Marufuji

Hero felt like he was backed into this contest, but that didn’t keep it from being all the more interesting to the New York crowd. Marufuji forced Hero to wrestle the match and pace that favored himself, but Hero proved that he was up to the task and matched Marufuji move for move in the early stages of the contest. He even caught the NOAH man off guard by out wrestling him for a few minutes and getting a few nearfalls. Then the match turned into a strong style match with both men trading stiff forearm shots and even exchanging Yakuza kicks with one another! Hero was able to nail Marufuji with the ‘Hero’s Welcome’ and thought he had the match won but Marufuji was able to kick out as the ref’s hand was coming down for the third count! Naomichi showed an amazing amount of fighting spirit and was able to fight back and hit the Shiranui to finally put down Chris Hero and bring the series to an even 1-1!

Naomichi Marufuji wins by pinfall in 17:39

Roderick Strong vs Jun Akiyama

This match started out hot and only got hotter! From the opening bell, both men started off hitting each other with wicked chops and strong kicks that made many of the fans cringe in their seats. Akiyama brought his ‘A’ game against one of ROH’s champions and wowed fans by taking Strong to the limit in this contest. Roderick fought back though used his own set of high impact moves to (as always) wow the fans and beat down Akiyama. Akiyama looked to have had the match won, and what a huge win it would have been, but Roderick was able to rally and lock in the Stronghold and get the submission victory over Akiyama and help ROH go up 2-1!

Roderick Strong wins by submission in 14:32

Non-Title

Bryan Danielson vs Low Ki vs KENTA

The crowd was hot for this match before the bell even rang! All three men had an issue with one another; whether it was KENTA pinning both men, or Dragon and Ki’s epic matches dating back to the first few ROH shows. All three men were eager and had a point to prove and wanted to show that they were the best in the world! Ki and KENTA began the match double teaming Danielson with various kicks and strikes, before Ki turned on KENTA and tried to open up an advantage for himself. Each man traded the advantage early on and did their best to keep the other men down. Dragon once again found himself on the losing end of a double team, this time he was held in the corner and being ‘chopped to bits’ by the other two men in the match. Danielson would get back into the driver’s seat and looked to try and make KENTA tap out to the Cattle Mutilation! KETNA looked on the verge of giving up, but Low Ki came from the top rope and double stomped Danielson across the stomach and ribs, breaking up the hold. Bryan got to his feet and Low Ki measured him for a series of stiff kicks to the chest! Before he could hit him with the last kick, KENTA came flying in with a huge Busaki Knee that sent Low Ki out of the ring! KENTA then turned and delivered a massive kick to Danielson and set up for the Go To Sleep! He covered the ROH World Champion and pinned him for the 1, 2, 3, bringing the challenge series to an even 2-2.

KENTA wins by pinfall in 20:37

Dream Match

Samoa Joe vs Mitsuharu Misawa

Last October, Joe lost to Kenta Kobashi…now he was set to face another of the best Japanese wrestlers of our time in Mitsuharu Misawa. Much like the last match, the fans were red hot and the atmosphere in New York was awesome! The match was made all the more important because the winner would win the series for their respective company. The Code of Honor was followed by both men and that gestured was applauded by the fans. After that, the match became all about a series of one-upsmanship. The two traded forearms, kicks, palm strikes, suplexes, basically anything they could use to put down their opponent. The New York crowd was split between who they wanted to see take the victory. Joe was able to hold his own against the much more experience Misawa and provide him with stiff competition. Joe even nailed Misawa with an Island Driver and much to his despair he was only able to get a two count. Joe got Misawa back up and attempted The Choke, but Misawa was able to fight out of it and begin to reassert himself back into the match. Twice Misawa tried to set Joe up for an Emerald Flowsion, but Joe was able to counter those and once more went for The Choke. Misawa got out a second time and caught Joe in the chin with a Roaring Elbow and covered him for the nearest of two counts! Misawa signaled for the Emerald Flowsion, but for a third time Joe was able to counter and this time put him on the top rope and set him up for a Muscle Buster! Misawa though drilled Joe with stiff kicks that knocked him backwards, and then a massive elbow from the top rope! Joe did not go down, but he was staggered. Misawa measured him and a second Roaring Elbow connected and Joe finally went to the ground! Misawa motioned for the Emerald Flowsion and got Joe to his feet. This time he was able to hit it and keep Joe on the ground 1..2..3! NOAH had won the series 3-2!

The crowd got to their feet and showed their appreciation to both men for their hard work and efforts in the ring. Joe, after getting back to his feet, shook hands and showed a great deal of respect to Misawa. Misawa left the ring and as the crowd continued to applaud him and show him the respect he definitely deserved.

Mitsuhara Misawa wins by pinfall in 22:50

Joe went to leave the ring but before he could, The Kingdom made their way out from the back and stood at the top of the entrance ramp! An angered look came over Samoa Joe, and he backed up into the middle of the ring and challenged the four men in front of him to enter the ring. Steen and Butcher charged the ring first and were met by rights and lefts from Joe. Claudio slid in third and the numbers then became too much for Joe to handle. Hero sauntered his way to the ring and grabbed a steel chair from the timekeepers table and a microphone. The other three members held Joe as Hero began to taunt him.

Hero – “The face of Ring of Honor is now bowing before the Kings of Wrestling. On his knees like the dog he is! Where are your friends Joe? Where is the Fallen Angel? Where is BJ Whitmer? Oh that’s right; they are both in the back, beaten down. So that leaves you all alone.” Hero slapped Joe across the face. “Now you have to deal with us by yourself. I came in to Ring of Honor to be the best in professional wrestling, and the only way I can do that is by beating the ‘champ’. So here is my challenge to you Samoa Joe. I don’t care when or where, but I know that I want you! I pinned you at Kingdom Come and I can do it again!” He slapped Joe a second time. “You just let me know Joe. I will be waiting.”

Hero reared back with the chair and drilled Joe hard with it! Joe fell the mat, and for the second time in a little over a month, Chris Hero stood over Samoa Joe like a conquering hero. Maybe I could have done better with the Road Agent notes. And thanks for the heads up on the Strong/Akiyama match. And this time, Chris Hero has sent out a personal challenge himself to Samoa Joe. BUT Hero has also let ROH officials know that he will not be in attendance this weekend in the Midwest due to “scheduling conflicts’. So in Detroit Joe will go one-on-one with The Kingdom’s Kevin Steen. Steen has been impressive in his couple of outings thus far in ROH, so it will be interesting to see how he fairs against Joe.

Samoa Joe has answered Chris Hero’s challenge for ‘anytime, anywhere, any match’, and the match has been signed for DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 4 next month! It will be Joe and Christopher Daniels against Hero and Claudio Castagnolli in a “Come As You Are” Street Fight! Joe and Daniels will be out for blood and will look to end Hero and Castagnolli.

But before we get to Death Before Dishonor 4, we have a Midwest double shot in Detroit and Chicago Ridge! Ring of Honor World Champion Bryan Danielson will have a massive World Title Match in Detroit on 6/23 against ROH Tag Team Champion Austin Aries! Aries is receiving this match after pinning Danielson back at ‘The Battle of Long Island’.

Speaking of the ROH World Title, after having pinned Danielson twice, KENTA will receive a Ring of Honor World Title Shot at a time of his choosing! But this weekend will be a different prospect for him altogether. KENTA has requested to face off against former champions in ROH and in Detroit he will wrestle one-on-one former ROH Tag Team Champion Jay Briscoe!

Homicide, after his win this past weekend, is ready to begin his hunt for Low Ki and The Havana Pitbulls. Low Ki will be with Pro Wrestling NOAH this weekend, so Homicide will team up with Roderick Strong to take on the Pitbulls in a tag team match. Something else we would like to mention about DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 4 is that Low Ki will challenge whoever is the ROH World Champion on that show in Philadelphia, PA!

BJ Whitmer despite aiding Joe in his feud with the Kingdom, has not forgotten about the beating he received at the hands of Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce, and he has recruited Delirious for a tag team match against the men in Detroit in what should be a wild and crazy affair!

• Jerry Lynn looked to have the Four Corner Survival this past weekend won had it not been for AJ Styles. He has put out a challenge to the Phenomenal One and the two will lock horns in Detroit, MI!

• After the events that occurred on the International Challenge DVD, ROH Pure Champion Alex Shelley has challenged Jimmy Rave to a match and has put up his Pure Wrestling Title on the line in order to get it. Whose side will Prince Nana be on? And will Shelley finally be able to get the respect he is requesting from Jimmy Rave?

• A Four Corner Survival has been signed for Detroit and it promises to be a good one. Colt Cabana and Mark Briscoe will be two men in the middle of a war because the other two participants are Christopher Daniels and Claudio Castagnolli!

• And finally, the opening match will see newcomer Davey Richards take on Generation Next’s Matt Sydal! This should be a very entertaining match.

After the spat of the beginning of the last show, Nigel McGuinness has apologized to ROH fans and officials for his actions towards the World Champion, but has not apologized to the World Champion himself. Nigel has sworn that once he is back to 100%, he wants to be able to challenge Bryan Danielson, or whoever is champion for the ROH World Title. Until that time, he will be joining Dave Prazak and Lenny Leonard on commentary on all ROH DVD releases! We still do wish Nigel a speedy and full recovery from his injury.

Full card for The Clash

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship

Bryan Danielson© vs Austin Aries

KENTA vs Jay Briscoe

Samoa Joe vs Kevin Steen

AJ Styles vs Jerry Lynn

Colt Cabana vs Christopher Daniels vs Claudio Castagnolli vs Mark Briscoe

Homicide and Roderick Strong vs The Havana Pitbulls

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Championship

Alex Shelley© vs Jimmy Rave

BJ Whitmer and Delirious vs Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce w/Lacey

Davey Richards vs Matt Sydal

Davey brought to the match his high intensity strikes and kicks in order to deal with the high flying acrobatics of Matt Sydal. It was, in truth, a short match but the two got the crowd hot and tore the house down in the time they wrestled. Sydal looked like he was going to end the match with a Shooting Star Press but Davey was wise to it and rolled out of the way. He got to his feet and drilled Sydal with a massive kick to the side of the head and finished him off with a DR-Driver!

After the match, both men shook hands in a sign of respect to one another, with Sydal asking Davey for a rematch down the road.

Davey Richards wins by pinfall in 7:59

Four Corner Survival

Christopher Daniels vs Colt Cabana vs Claudio Castagnolli vs Mark Briscoe

With his older brother taking place in one of the marquee matches of the night, Mark looked to seal a big victory of his own in this four corner survival. There was the obvious history or Daniels vs Castagnolli and the two of them started off what would end up being a very volatile match! The beginning of the match saw all four men treat this one as a traditional ROH Four Way match, with tags and the occasional double team. However, Claudio was doing all he could to avoid Daniels by either tagging in Cabana and Briscoe, or by getting off the apron to avoid a cheap shot. But then…Daniels was finally able to get in the ring with Castagnolli. Referee Paul Turner couldn’t even stop Daniels from unleashing his rage and fury on someone who has been a thorn in his side for the past few months. It backfired, however, when his rage got the best of him and Claudio was able to get himself back into the match. The match completely broke down and all four men exchanged nearfalls and big moves in an attempt to win the match. Mark risked life and limb but took himself and Cabana out of the match with an amazing Shooting Star to the outside! This led Claudio to catch Daniels with a massive European Uppercut and a Riccola Bomb for the 3-count!

Claudio Castagnolli wins by pinfall in 16:15

Jimmy Jacobs and Adam Pearce w/Lacey vs BJ Whitmer and Delirious

Lacey was a distraction in this match, not for her looks, but because BJ Whitmer was in mood to take her out just like he tried to do back the 100th Show. He chased her around the ring at the beginning of the match, and outside of the ring is where this one started. BJ and Jimmy brawled all over the ringside area and they even went back into the fans and back into the merchandise stand. Delirious and Pearce brawled in the ring, with the crazy masked man getting the better of Adam Pearce throughout most of their entanglement. Delirious tried to end the match early with a Cobra Clutch but once again Lacey got involved. Delirious grabbed her by the hair and talked to her in the jargon only he knew. But before any harm could be done, Jimmy made it back into the ring and speared Delirious! A bloody BJ Whitmer got back into the ring as well and in his hand he had a chain! Paul Turner threatened to DQ BJ if he used it, but his efforts were in vain as BJ attacked Jimmy and Adam with the chain and whipped both men repeatedly with the chain. This time Lacey kept her distance from BJ, not wanting to get herself hurt in the process. Other wrestlers had to charge the ring to keep BJ off of Jimmy when he began to choke Jacobs with the chain!

BJ Whitmer and Delirious vs Adam Pearce and Jimmy Jacobs went to a No Contest in 5:57

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Championship Match

Alex Shelley© vs Jimmy Rave

Prince Nana stood at ringside, but did his best to keep neutral and not show favoritism towards either one of the two wrestlers. Shelley made sure that the match started off as a technical contest, and kept Jimmy on the mat the best that he could. To his credit, Jimmy did try to keep up with Shelley, but in the beginning Shelley was proving to be too much for his ‘partner’. Rave would gain the upperhand by using closed fists behind the ref’s back and even baiting Shelley to used a closed fist on a couple of occasions, causing Shelley to be warned and then be charged his first of three rope breaks. It was clear that Rave would do anything he could to win the Pure Title and that his friendship with Shelley was purely business. Once Shelley was able to calm himself down and get refocused in the match, it was all one-sided. Shelley proved that he had a superior mat game and used it to his advantage. After Rave had exhausted all of his rope breaks, Shelley caught Rave in a Boston Crab in the ropes. And with nowhere to go and no more ropebreaks, Rave was forced to tap out.

Nana applauded Shelley and the efforts of Shelley and brought in the Pure title to him. Nana handed the belt to him and offered him a handshake. Shelley thought about it and simply walked out on Nana, leaving him standing in the ring, confused.

Alex Shelley wins by submission in 14:52

The Havana Pitbulls vs Homicide and Roderick Strong

The Pitbulls were introduced first and waited in the ring while Homicide’s music played and the fans eagerly awaited the arrival of the ‘187’. But everyone was shocked when Homicide and Strong came in through the fans and jumped the Pitbulls, much like they had done to Homicide a couple of weeks ago. This match wasn’t as crazy as the early tag team match but it was a stiff match with all four men dishing out a great deal of punishment to one another. Homicide, and Julius Smokes for that, seemed like they were enjoying finally getting the opportunity to see the Pitbulls get a taste of their own medicine. Strong, fresh off of his huge win against Jun Akiyama, kept his momentum rolling and was able to hold off a couple of double team attempts by the Pitbulls. He was finally taken advantage of by both men, causing Homicide to jump into the match and make the save, allowing this match to breakdown a little. Homicide looked to have set up Reyes for a Lariat, but Romero charged in nailed him a huge running knee. Both Pitbulls then unloaded tandem kicks to the body and head of Homicide, allowing Reyes to get what ended up being a shock win over their former friend!

Smokes tried to get into the ring to help Homicide after the match, but he was the recipient of a beating from the Pitbulls as well! The fans booed them for attacking a non-wrestler, but that only fueled their fire. Homicide pulled the Ghetto Fork out of his boot and chased away the Pitbulls before they could care anymore harm to his manager and friend.

Ricky Reyes and Rocky Romero win by pinfall in 10:32

AJ Styles vs Jerry Lynn

Two men who were on the card for ‘Road to the Title’ over four years ago stepped into the ring against one again, with this time Lynn looking to avenge the loss in ’02 and when AJ ‘stole’ the win in the Four Corner Survival the week before. The match started off like most thought it would, with both men trying to get one up on the other and do what they could to gain an upperhand. Lynn had the experience, but in truth it mattered little with the youth and agility of AJ being showcased. Both men mirrored one another in the early going, showing just how similar in style they were. Lynn would gain the advantage after AJ took a nasty fall on his shoulder, opening up a door for Lynn. Arm bars, cross arm breakers, and even a variation of a Triangle Choke were all used by Lynn, but AJ was proving that he was a very tough competitor and fought through all of the pain. AJ fought back, albeit one handed, and was able to gain some momentum for himself and try to launch a counter attack that could possibly see him get the victory. He attempted a Styles Clash but too much damage had been done to his shoulder and Lynn was able to reverse it and nail a Cradle Piledriver! He covered AJ 1..2..NO! Styles somehow kicked out, much to the shock of Lynn and the crowd. Lynn set him up on the top rope and motioned for a Hurricanrana! He went for it but AJ blocked it and despite all of the damage done to his shoulder, held on to Lynn! AJ then performed an amazing Super Styles Clash! He rolled Lynn over and got the three count!

AJ Styles wins by pinfall in 14:23

Samoa Joe vs Kevin Steen

This match wasn’t pretty to watch at all, especially if you were a fan of Kevin Steen or the Kingdom. Joe was very dominate from the very beginning of the match and took his frustration and anger towards Chris Hero out on Steen. Steen did not just roll over and die for Joe and made a match out of it though, but in large it was an awesome performance from Joe! Stiff forearms and palm strikes and kicks from Joe almost knocked Kevin Steen unconscious but he was somehow able to keep fighting despite the brutal beating Joe was giving him. After a thumb to both of Joe’s eyes, Steen was able to mount some offense of his own and did his best to take the match to Joe. He even was able to get the big man up for a Package Piledriver! The fans began a ‘Holy S***!’ chant after witnessing Steen be able to use his signature move on Joe! He covered Joe, but was only able to get a two count and come agonizingly close to the win. Steen motioned for a second Package Piledriver but Joe bull rushed him into the corner and unloaded a furious assault of strikes and knees that rocked Steen down to the core. Joe brought him out of the corner and connected with an Island Driver. But he did not cover Steen, only wanted to pile on more punishment. He set Steen up in the top rope and delivered a violent Muscle Buster! Once again though, Joe did not cover him and set him up for The Choke! Steen was knocked out and the referee called for the bell, giving Joe the emphatic win!

Samoa Joe wins by KO in 13:57

Special Challenge Match

KENTA vs Jay Briscoe

KENTA has made it his mission to be the best he can in his time in Ring of Honor, and challenging former champions in ROH was the best way to prove it. Jay Briscoe was out to prove himself though that he was not a pushover and that he could go toe-to-toe with someone the caliber of KENTA. In the early goings though, it was KENTA who controlled the match and dictated the pace. Jay had no answer for the kicks that KENTA brought to the match but he made up for it by matching his speed and agility, for the most part. Jay quickly was able to turn the match into a brawl and wrestle a rugged style to help keep KENTA off of his game. Jay quickly transitioned the match down into a pure wrestling match, with both men be able to counter one another and shrug off the other’s moves to try and hit one of their own. Neither man was able to gain a clear advantage for much of the beginning of the contest until Jay nearly took off KENTA’s head with stiff Yakuza Kick! Jay then slowed down the pace and applied various submission holds to keep his opponent grounded. KENTA was able to feed off the energy of the fans and fight his way back into the match. He caught Jay with a series of brutal kicks to the chest and forearms to the face. Jay though, to his credit, ducked a kicked and set KENTA up for the J-Driller and connected with it! He covered KENTA 1…2…, but KENTA was able to get his shoulder up and stay alive in the match. Jay confirmed with the ref that it was indeed a two count and Paul Turner told him multiple times it was. Jay turned around and was caught in the face with a running knee strike from KENTA! He covered Jay and was only able to get a count himself! KENTA motioned for the Go To Sleep and lifted Jay onto his shoulders. Jay wriggled free and bounced off the ropes, going for another Yakuza Kick. KENTA ducked and was able to get his opponent back on his shoulders and this time deliver the Go To Sleep! KENTA covered and got the 1…2…3!

The fans applauded and KENTA waited in the ring for Jay to get back to his feet. KENTA offered him a handshake, but Jay slapped away his hand and walked back to the back by himself. KENTA bowed to the fans to show his appreciation and left the ring as well.

KENTA wins by pinfall in 16:58

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship Match

Bryan Danielson© vs Austin Aries

Danielson was in no fair mood as he and Aries circled each other before the bell rang in this highly anticipated World Title match. This would not be the first time the ROH World Title would be on the line between these two men and they were far from strangers when it came to matches against the other. Both men started off at a deliberately slow pace to not allow the other man to gain an advantage or find a way to cause some serious harm to the other. Both did their best to try and out wrestle the other but both men knew the other so well that they simply cancelled out the others moves. Danielson began to exert his dominance in the match, applying various holds and stretches that torqued Aries’ body in many unnatural positions. He even converted some of those stretches and holds into quick pin attempts but only got nearfalls and one counts. Both men traded pin attempts and roll ups in an attempts to catch the other off guard, but both were wise to the pin attempts and were able to kick out. Aries was finally able to get his first real amount of offense in and capped off a few moments of dominance with a massive Death Valley Driver that sent shockwaves up and down the spine of Bryan Danielson. He covered and only got a two count, but this led to Aries attempting to work over the neck and back of the World Champion. Danielson did what he could to keep Aries at bay and not allow him to assault his neck but the tenacity of Aries proved to be too much for Danielson. A series of headlocks and chinlocks kept the champion grounded and Aries in control. Danielson fought back with a flurry of rapid fire forearms to the face and head of Aries that sent him back into the corner. Danielson was relentless as his adrenaline kicked in and he caught his first of many second wins. He bounced off the ropes and caught Aries in the chin with a huge running forearm! He covered Aries and only managed to get a two count of it. He quickly set Aries up for a Cattle Mutilation but Aries was wise to it and able to get out of it by rolling his way towards the ropes. Danielson used his momentum that he had been gaining now to finally press on with the advantage and not let up with it at all. The match finally spilled out to the floor and both men took turns Irish Whipping each other into the barricade around the ring, with each time getting stronger than the first. The time keeper announced that the match had reached the 30-minute mark. Danielson once again gained the upperhand and dumped Aries into the fans and got back into the ring. He waited for Aries to get up and Danielson hopped up onto the top rope and dove into the fans and crashed down onto Aries! Another round of ‘Holy S***’ rang from the fans and they applauded to show their appreciation for the two men putting their bodies on the line to get the victory. Danielson rolled Aries back into the ring and instead of going for the win the champion put Aries on his shoulders and began to execute an Airplane Spin! Before he could complete to many revolutions though, Aries elbowed him in the head and delivered a massive Crucifix Bomb that dropped Danielson right on the back of his head and neck! Both men were feeling the effects of this match but neither man was willing to back down and give an inch. Aries kept Danielson on his stomach and applied a Crossface submission hold on the champion right in the middle of the ring! The fans started to chant for Danielson to tap out, but the guts and intestinal fortitude of the champion drove him to dig deep and not relinquish his coveted championship so easily. Danielson brought his knees up slightly and rolled Aries back on his back for a flash pinfall attempt 1…2…but Aries quickly released the hold and rolled back to his feet. Both men got up and began to exchange forearms and uppercuts and once again neither man backed down from the other. Aries continued his assault on the neck of Danielson with elbows and stiff shots to the back of his head. Dragon quickly got behind Aries and planted him down hard with a monstrous Regal Plex! He tried to keep his hands locked for a pin attempt but he was too physically drained. This allowed both men to get a minute or two of much needed rest. Dragon got back to his feet first and favored his head and neck. But this did not stop him from delivering a series of kicks to the chest of Aries. He set Aries up backwards on the top rope and followed him up there. He looked out at the fans and fell backwards, delivering a Super Back Body Drop! But this time the move brought damage to both men, especially the neck of Danielson. He was able to roll Aries over 1…2…..thr, but Aries somehow got his shoulder up at the last possible second to keep his hopes alive. Danielson struggled to his feet and tried to psyche himself up for one last assault on his challenger. Bobby Cruise announced that there was 5 more minutes remaining in the 60-minute time limit, causing many of the fans to either cheer louder or urge Aries to get back up and defeat Dragon. Danielson tried to end the match quickly but setting Aries up for the MMA Elbows and began to drop the bombs onto the shoulder, neck, and head of Aries! The fans continued to urge Aries to fight back from the hold he was in. He was able to oblige them and worked his way back to his feet. He forearmed Bryan a few times and Irish Whipped him into the corner. Aries ran and caught Dragon square in the chin with a running missile-like Dropkick! Dragon stumbled forward and Aries grabbed him and set him up for a Brainbuster! He lifted him up and connected with it. He covered…1….2…….NO! Dragon was too close to the ropes and barely got his toes on the bottom rope before the ref could make the three count! Aries was crestfallen, thinking he finally had achieved a feat that no man in ROH history had done. He brought Danielson into the middle of the ring and covered him again 1…2…, but again Danielson kicked out! Aries pulled him into the corner and scaled the top rope. He went for the 450 splash but Danielson moved, and Aries hit the mat hard! Danielson followed up and applied the Cattle Mutilation! ‘Please Don’t Tap’ was the cry from the fans as Cruise announced that they had entered into the final minute of the match! Aries fought and struggled but Dragon would not let go of the hold for anything! Danielson rolled out of the bridge and rolled Aries to his shoulders for a quick pin 1…2…NO! Aries was able to kick out. The time was ticking down but both men once again exchanged cradles and pinfall attempts to try and gain the victory before the clock expired. In the final seconds, both men charged and caught each other with a Roaring Elbow, sending both men down to the mat as the 60-minute time limit expired.

The fans got to their feet and applauded the Herculean-like efforts by both men and their shear tenacity and drive to be the Ring of Honor Champion. The ref gave the World title back to Danielson and both men stared at each other and got nose to nose. Aries extended his hand to follow the Code of Honor. Danielson went to shake it but faked him out and left the ring amidst a chorus of boos and trash talk from the Detroit fans. He paid no attention to them as he left with the title and repeating his now famous phrase of ‘Best in the World!’

The match went to a 60-Minute Time Limit Draw; Bryan Danielson is still Ring of Honor World Champion

Quick Results
Davey Richards def. Can Aries defeat KENTA, or will KENTA be able to continue his impressive run in ROH? And the bigger question is, will Aries be able to keep up with KENTA after his incredible performance last night?

ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson, who we are all sure is physically drained from his match last night, will have one eye ahead for DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 4 in a few weeks’ time, but first he must defend the title against a man who ROH officials feel deserve a second chance at the belt and that man is ’Classic’ Colt Cabana. It will be a great atmosphere for the hometown hero as he challenges for the gold.

The Briscoes are still in pursuit of the ROH Tag Titles despite losing a match back at Ring of Homicide. They will get a chance to get their hands back on the tag team champions IF they can defeat Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong and fellow Generation Next member Matt Sydal. However, if they lose, they will not be able to receive a tag team title shot for at least 6 months!

Samoa Joe and his new found tag team partners of Christopher Daniels and BJ Whitmer will continue their hunt of the Kingdom this Saturday night. Daniels and BJ will take on Kevin Steen and the Necro Butcher, while Joe will get his hands on Castagnolli in a re-match from Weekend of Champions Night 2! This all of course, is leading up to the epic showdown at DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR 4!

Jimmy Jacobs will not be in attendance after the assault that BJ Whitmer gave him last night. We will have an update on him in the coming days, but his partner Adam Pearce has been signed to a 6-Man Tag Team Match alongside of the Havana Pitbulls against Homicide and The Irish Airborne!

• Alex Shelley retained the Pure Title against Jimmy Rave, and now he will be defending the belt against the man he defeated to become the champion, Jerry Lynn.

• Davey Richards will wrestle Jimmy Rave in a match that could help elevate Richards, or show that he isn’t yet ready to take on those who have been in ROH for some time now.

• A newcomer for ROH named Taiji Ishimori of NJPW will make his debut on the main show when he steps into the ring with AJ Styles! This should be a very intriguing match between a young ROH star and man currently at the top of his game.

Full card for Second City Showdown

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Championship

Bryan Danielson© vs Colt Cabana

KENTA vs Austin Aries

Jay and Mark Briscoe vs Roderick Strong and Matt Sydal

Samoa Joe vs Claudio Castagnolli

Christopher Daniels and BJ Whitmer vs Necro Butcher and Kevin Steen

AJ Styles vs Taiji Ishimori

Adam Pearce and The Havana Pitbulls vs Homicide and The Irish Airborne

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Championship

Alex Shelley© vs Jerry Lynn

Davey Richards vs Jimmy Rave

Davey though, was looking to continue his fine form and take down a bigger fish in the ROH pond. Rave started out the brighter of the two, trying his best to out wrestle Davey. Davey proved though that he was up to the challenge and matched Rave move for move, drawing much praise from the Chicago fans. He fought back Rave with stiff kicks and strikes and various suplexes. Nana kept watching intently on the outside at every move that Davey performed, almost as if he was trying to scout him. Rave was able to plant Davey with Ghana-rhea, only to see Davey kick out at the last second. He grabbed Davey’s leg and set him up for the Heel Hook submission hold but Davey was able to roll out of it and get back to his feet. He charged at Jimmy and drilled him with a massive forearm shot right to the side of the head. He lifted Jimmy up and caught him with a DR-Driver for the win!

Nana got in the ring clapping his hands and had a mic in his hand

Nana – “Davey, Davey. I have been keeping my eye on you my boy and let me tell you that I am very impressed with you. You are a young man with an impressive talent and I can see that. Why not join me and the Embassy. My money can get you the best training, the best women, and the chance to climb to the top of Ring of Honor! I can give you everything your heart desires my boy.”

Davey chuckled to himself as if he was merely being entertained by what Prince Nana was saying.

Nana – “This will be the biggest opportunity for you, you must see it!”

Davey simply shrugged Nana off and walked away back up the ramp and into the backstage area.

Nana – “No one says no to Prince Nana! The Airborne were still looking to help make a name for themselves and if they could in anyway help Homicide pick up the win here then surely their stock would soar! The match was a mess from the word ‘go’ and the Airborne were certainly up to the task of keeping up with the veterans in this match. Homicide did his best to get his hands on the Pitbulls has much as he could, and he was even successful in bloodying up Romero with numerous shots to the ringpost. In truth the match was more of a brawl than it was a tag team match, and all 6-men were up to the challenge. Adam Pearce was taken out by the Airborne with an Irish Curse, which allowed Homicide to pick up the victory for his team with a Cop Killa on Ricky Reyes!

Homicide and The Irish Airborne win by pinfall in 11:01

Taiji Ishimori vs AJ Styles

Taiji Ishimori, much like Davey Richards, had impressed on the pre-show multiple times and was finally given the opportunity to work on the main card. But who better than to test the young man then ‘The Phenomenal’ AJ Styles. Although AJ did not expect for this match to be taken lightly, no one in the arena knew what would transpire over the next 15+ minutes. Ishimori came right at AJ from the opening bell and started off with stiff kicks and different suplexes. AJ, on a couple of occasions, had to leave the ring and recuperate. The last time AJ left the ring, Ishimori charged towards him and lept over the top rope and Corkscrewed over onto Styles. From there, the match went back-and-forth and AJ began to take the match to the younger Ishimori. Taiji thought he had the match won after a hit two successful Double Underhook Piledrivers, but AJ was able to dig deep and get his shoulder up. Ishimori shocked the Chicago crowd even further by being able to kick out of an emphatic Styles Clash! AJ went to the top rope and went for the Spiral Tap but Ishimori moved and quickly rolled him up for a two count! AJ ducked Springboard kick from Ishimori and then grabbed him and connected with a second Styles Clash! He rolled over and finally got the three count and a very impressive victory.

Styles waited for Ishimori to get up and the two men shook hands with one another, and the crowd showed their appreciation for both men, especially Ishimori.

AJ Styles wins by pinfall in 15:36

Matt Sydal and Roderick Strong vs Jay and Mark Briscoe

Jay was in a fighting mood tonight after his match with KENTA the night before and he was ready to take it out on Matt Sydal and Roderick Strong. Roderick did his best to try and spear head the attack for his team but Sydal had little interest in listening to what his Generation Next stablemate had to say. This led to an early dominance from the more experienced Briscoe tag team as they were able to double team Sydal and cut him off from his partner. When he was able to get free for a moment, the Briscoes were able to swiftly knock Roderick from the apron and continue their double team assault. Finally, Sydal was able to tag in Roderick and he lit up both of the Briscoe’s chests with stiff chops and gave them both a series of backbreaker combinations. It finally came down to Roderick and Jay and both men exchanged blow after blow but neither was able to get an advantage. Mark quickly eliminated Sydal and hopped in the ring to help his brother Jay. And after that, a Spike J-Driller saw Roderick planted on his head and Jay get the pinfall victory over the tag team champion.

Jay and Mark Briscoe win by pinfall in 14:33

BJ Whitmer and Christopher Daniels vs Kevin Steen and The Necro Butcher

As with most of the matches involving The Kingdom, it began as a tag match and slowly disintegrated into a wild and chaotic mess of a match. Early on, even though no one thought he was going to show up, Jimmy Jacobs along with Adam Pearce stormed the ringside area and grabbed BJ Whitmer! Jimmy had in his hand a chain, much like BJ had the night before. They began to whip and beat BJ with the chain before wrapping it around his neck and dragging him backstage. This left Daniels all alone with Necro and Steen. Daniels was able to hold his own for most of the match and even came close on a few occasions to winning the contest. The two members of the Kingdom did prove to be too much for ‘The Fallen Angel’ to handle and following a Package Piledriver, Kevin Steen was able to pin Christopher Daniels to the mat for the three count and a massive win for him in his ROH career!

Kevin Steen and The Necro Butcher win by pinfall in 14:55

Claudio Castagnolli vs Samoa Joe

Joe was in a fighting mood after what he witnessed what happened to Chris Daniels and was looking to take it out on Castagnolli. Claudio seemed like he didn’t care Joe was in a bad mood and used it to his advantage. Claudio used all of Joe’s momentum on multiple occasions to trip him and cause him to stumble in and out of the ring. Joe left the ring momentarily and gathered himself. He got back into the ring and this time when he charged, Claudio was caught off guard and Joe began to pelt him with openhanded strikes to the head, closed fists to the body, and kicks to the legs. Claudio tried to back to the ropes so the referee would back Joe off, but it was of no help. Joe grabbed him by the hair and tossed him into the middle of the ring and pounced. Paul Turner did his best to restrain Joe and this allowed Claudio to get Joe with an Eye Gouge, take him to the ground, and do one of the biggest Big Swings in the history of ROH! It was a feat of strength that even the ROH fans had to admire. After gloating for a moment he picked Joe up and wanted to finish him off with a Riccola Bomb, and that is when it went south for him. Joe forced Claudio into the corner and unleashed weeks of fury on him in the form of vicious strikes! After dazing Claudio, he set him up top and delivered a Muscle Buster! But like the night before against Steen, Joe wasn’t done. He covered Claudio but before the ref could count the three, Joe lifted up his head and the fans cheered. Joe put Claudio back on the top rope and hit him with a second Muscle Buster! This time Joe covered him and got the three count.

Samoa Joe wins by pinfall in 17:25

Ring of Honor Pure Wrestling Championship Match

Alex Shelley© vs Jerry Lynn

Despite losing in the tournament finals, ROH officials felt that Jerry Lynn deserved a rematch for the Pure Wrestling Title. Once more, the two put on a Pure Wrestling clinic with the two men exchanging grappling holds and going back and forth with holds and pin attempts. Much like last time out, Lynn had the experience edge over Shelley, and that proved to help him a little bit in the beginning of the contest. Shelley though used the Pure Wrestling rules to his advantage and did what he could to piss Lynn off and goaded him into throwing a couple of punches and (like the last match) caused Lynn to forfeit one of his rope breaks. After that, Lynn kicked it up another gear and turned the match into a fast paced contest that seemed to favor him for a few minutes, before the youth of Shelley took over. Late in the match, both men had no rope breaks left, and the two did all they could to try and win the contest. Lynn looked to finish it with a Cradle Piledriver, but Shelley was able to stun him with a Jackknife Cradle 1…2…, but Lynn kicked out! Shelley ducked a clothesline attempt and quickly snapped off a Shellshock! He hooked Lynn’s leg and got the three count to retain the title!

Alex Shelley retains the ROH Pure Wrestling Title by pinfall in 20:28

Special Challenge Match

KENTA vs Austin Aries

If Aries was in the least bit tired, me made sure not to show it as a sign of weakness when he stepped into the ring with KENTA. KENTA, who had been on a very impressive roll thus far in his ROH tenure, looked to secure another massive victory to his already stellar resume. Aries took the match to him from the beginning and made sure to try and keep KENTA off his game. Aries even tried an early Brainbuster to look to end the match but KENTA was wise to it and delivered a knee to the head to keep himself safe for the time being. KENTA took control with a dozen stiff kicks to the legs and chest of Aries that lit him up. Aries finally caught the last one and after a Dragon Screw Leg Whip, Aries took the control back. An elbow drop, and even a lionsault onto KENTA’s leg were followed up by a Figure Four attempt that heard the fans ‘Woooo’ out of respect for the legendary wrestler who made that move so famous. KENTA was in the hold for a good five minutes before being able to finally roll the hold over and get to the ropes. Now Aries had taken away some of the kicking power of KENTA and possibly the ability to hit the Go To Sleep….or so he thought. Aries scaled the back of KENTA and went for a Crucifix Bomb but KENTA was able to stand his ground and keep Aries on his back. He positioned Aries back up to his shoulders and was able to connect with a Go To Sleep, albeit a poor one. Aries was sent to the mat and somehow was able to roll out of the ring to save himself! KENTA waited until Aries got up, used a burst of adrenaline and dove over the top rope and landed onto Aries! KENTA got him back into the ring and set him up for a second Go To Sleep. This time though, Aries was able to convert it into a Crucifix Bomb! KENTA was on all fours and Aries caught him with the kick to the head that was so famous in his combo to defeat Samoa Joe. He lifted KENTA up and connected with a massive Brainbuster! He covered 1…2…NO! KENTA somehow got his shoulder up at the last possible moment! Aries was stunned and so was the rest of the ROH crowd. Aries picked him back up and called for another Brainbuster. But his calling for the move allowed KENTA to gain a second win and turn it into a third attempt at a Go To Sleep! He connected with it square on the jaw of Aries and sent him to the mat. KENTA covered him and got the three count he was looking for, and yet another impressive victory for him!

KENTA wins by pinfall in 22:32

Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Title Match

Bryan Danielson© vs Colt Cabana

Danielson looked from the beginning, much like Aries in the match before, to end the match early. He used Inside Cradles and School Boy pins to try and pin Cabana, but Colt was able to kick out and make a mockery of Danielson by taunting him, acting like he was out of breath and tired as well. Cabana slowed the match down to almost a crawl, and even at one point attempted a few moves in ‘slow motion’ to keep the fans entertained. Danielson became angry with the antics of Cabana and turned up the heat by forearming him in the head repeatedivley and even throwing in a few knees as well. One knee caught Cabana just right and cut him open right above one of his eyes. Like a shark smelling blood, Danielson followed up his new advantage and began to headbutt Cabana in the wound as well, opening him up even more. Cabana fought back though and showed great heart and resilience to keep fighting and taking the match to the World Champion. Cabana at one point even locked Danielson in the Cattle Mutalation! Danielson, being the inventor of the hold, was able to find his way out of the hold and get to the ropes. Cabana was feeling the effects of the blood loss and a grueling match but did his damndest to keep coming and fighting despite the injury. He ducked a Roaring Elbow attempt and caught Danielson with a Colt .45! He couldn’t follow up with a pin attempt right away, and when he did Danielson was able to kick out at 2. Colt went for another Colt .45, but Danielson wriggled free and attempted an O’Connor roll, only to get a two count himself! Cabana showed that his quest to be ROH Champion was greater then his own health after kicked out of a Regal Plex, a Super Back Body Drop, and fighting his way out of Cattle Mutalation! Danielson looked perplexed, not knowing how to finally put down his nemesis for the evening. He sat Cabana up on his backside and began to pummel him with MMA elbows directed at the side of his head and onto the cut that Danielson opened up earlier. Todd Sinclair continued to check on Cabana time and time again but finally had to put an end to the beating and called for the bell, declaring Cabana no longer able to continue with the match.

Danielson took the belt from Sinclair and held it above his head, as the victorious champion that he was. He mocked the fans and Cabana by reaching down and ‘shaking’ Cabana’s hand and letting the fans know he was the “Best in the World”!

Bryan Danielson retains the ROH World Title by TKO in 26:57

Quick Results

Davey Richards def.
