WWE Dynasty: July 2014 - Present

Introduction/Overview: Hey everyone, I'm Matthew, and this is my first post as a member of the Grey Dog forums. Having been a big fan of EWR, I recently decided to pick up TEW 2013, at which point I began playing with the July 2014 Real World Chronicles roster; to refresh your memory, at that time Daniel Bryan was on the verge of vacating the WWE championship due to neck surgery.

The purpose of this dynasty is not only to record the events taking place in my version of the WWE universe, but also to get some feedback from you all regarding the storylines taking place, as well as to listen to any advice you might have which could improve the company. I haven't been following wrestling since 2004 or so, and as such am mostly unaware of the storylines which have been taking place since then; for this reason, my dynasty will reflect my interpretation of characters, etc. rather than progressing as a strict continuation of what WWE is doing. I've done a bit of research to prevent it from being too jarring, but let me know if anything is too incongruous to believe.

Also, originally I planned on including images, but it says I'm not permitted to post them here; does anyone have any idea how I could do that?

RAW: Week 1, July 2014

Dark Matches:

1. In a dominant performance, Rusev defeated Adam Rose in 5:08 by pinfall with a BullPlex. He was praised by Lana for making quick work of Rose. (F+)

2. In another brief squash, Titus O'Neil defeated Santino Marella in 7:57 by pinfall with a spear. After the match, Santino Marella appeared to sever his ties with Emma, who had been managing him during the match. (D-)

Show Recap:

1. Triple H comes to the ring and cuts a promo in which he announces that Daniel Bryan will be sidelined indefinitely following neck surgery, and that Bryan has consequently been stripped of his world heavyweight title; in order to determine a new champion, an eight-man tournament will be held, culminating in a world title match at Money in the Bank: one-half of the bracket will take place on RAW, with the other half taking place on Smackdown! A random lottery system is used to determine the matchups: he announces that tonight on RAW, Randy Orton will be wrestling Dean Ambrose, while Roman Reigns will be wrestling Chris Jericho. He also announces one of six qualifying matches which will determine the candidates for the Money in the Bank ladder match later this month: Bray Wyatt will be wrestling R-Truth.

2. In an extremely short match, Xavier Woods defeated David Otunga in 5:15 by pinfall with a roll up. Otunga appeared in control for most of the match, but lost focus; he appeared frustrated after being rolled up from behind. (F)

3. In another extremely short match, The Bella Twins defeated the Funkadactyls in 5:01 when Nikki Bella pinned Cameron following a Bella Buster. During the contest, the Bella Twins were able to isolate Naomi; when Cameron was finally tagged in, she proved unable to regain momentum for her side. (D-)

4. Dean Ambrose cuts a promo directed at Randy Orton; he claims that tonight, he’ll be putting his plans to punish Seth Rollins on the backburner, instead focusing on making the most of his opportunity to qualify for the world title match at Money in the Bank.

5. In an extremely short match, Zack Ryder defeated Heath Slater in 5:17 by pinfall. This was an evenly-matched contest in which neither wrestler was able to gain a decisive advantage until the end, when Slater’s attempt at a spinebuster was countered into a DDT. (D)

6. Chris Jericho cuts a self-aggrandizing promo in which he credits Roman Reigns with being a promising young wrestler, but claims that Reigns has a long way to go before he’ll be able to hang with a main-eventer like Jericho. He says he’ll be watching the night’s other main event closely to scout his opponent for next week’s RAW.

7. After a commercial break, Damien Sandow makes his entrance and acknowledges that while he may have been left out of consideration for the world title, he can still beat any wrestler on the roster; therefore, he issued an open challenge to any worker backstage. To his surprise, The Great Khali accepts the challenge. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Damien Sandow defeated The Great Khali in 8:12 by pinfall while using the ropes for leverage. He quickly escaped before Khali could catch him, pushing Hornswoggle out of his way. (D)

8. In a pre-recorded promo before a commercial break, Bray Wyatt attempts to trigger R-Truth’s schizophrenia prior to their match together.

9. In a match that had some good action and average heat, Bray Wyatt defeated R-Truth in 12:10 by pinfall with a Standing Senton Splash. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper were able to distract Wyatt’s opponent by appearing on the Titantron with Little Jimmy as their captive. ©

10. Prior to another commercial break, Goldust attempted to motivate Stardust for their upcoming match against RybAxel. In a match that had some good action and average heat, Rhodes Dynasty defeated RybAxel in 9:56 when Stardust defeated Curtis Axel by pinfall with The Beautiful Disaster. Ryback was a dominant force in the match, but when the situation got hectic, he spent too much time assaulting Goldust outside the ring. (C+)

11. Seth Rollins joined the commentary team in order to get a closer look at Randy Orton’s matchup with Dean Ambrose. In a bout that featured great action and average heat, Randy Orton defeated Dean Ambrose in 15:46 by pinfall after a distraction from Seth Rollins; when Ambrose turned around, Orton hit him with the RKO. As Ambrose recovered, he was curb-stomped by Rollins. (B-)

12. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Roman Reigns defeated Chris Jericho in 17:42; Chris Jericho pulled the referee in front of Reigns’ spear attempt, but was knocked out by a Rob Van Dam chair-shot after locking in the Walls of Jericho. Reigns celebrated in the ring to end the show. (B)

I like the basic summary, as it gets the job done and you dont have to read a wall of text :)

Thanks! I think I'll stick with that style throughout; it's a manageable level of work which will help keep me motivated to continue the dynasty.

Dark Matches:

1. In an extremely short match, Natalya, who dominated the action throughout, defeated Summer Rae in 5:08 by pinfall with a German Suplex. (E)

2. In his first appearance since being recalled from NXT, Corey Graves issues an open challenge for any wrestler on the roster to face him in a singles match. CJ Parker, who is also debuting, comes out and says that he will take the open challenge that Corey Graves issued. Parker gave an energetic performance, but was ultimately defeated after being caught in the 13th Step. He tapped out 4:47 into the contest. (F+)

3. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Justin Gabriel defeated Konnor O'Brian in 8:27 by pinfall with a fast roll up. O’Brian had been giving Gabriel a hard time, but his powerbomb attempt was countered. (D)

Show Recap:

1. Kane is in the ring. He reiterates the information regarding the qualifying matches for both the six-man Money in the Bank ladder match and the world championship match at the Pay-Per-View of the same name, then draws the matchups for tonight: this week’s Money in the Bank qualifying match will take place between Rey Mysterio and The Miz, while Kane himself will be matched up against Mark Henry and John Cena will take on Alberto Del Rio.

2. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Kalisto defeated Sin Cara in 8:03 by pinfall with a Del Sol Driver. This was Kalisto’s debut match, although he failed to energize the crowd. (F+)

3. In a walk-and-talk scene, the Miz gives a promo about his upcoming match with Rey Mysterio. He claims he’s going to make a statement to the rest of the WWE roster; tonight, his road back to the top of the company continues.

4. At the end of The Miz’s promo, the camera cuts to the right, where Paul Heyman is motivating Cesaro for his upcoming match against Fandango. Heyman tells Cesaro to teach Fandango a few moves in the ring tonight.

5. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Cesaro defeated Fandango in 9:38 by pinfall; Fandango spent most of the match dancing, but his attempts to engage Cesaro backfired when Cesaro countered a dance move into a short-arm lariat. These two wrestlers didn’t seem to have much chemistry in the ring. (D+)

6. Following the match, Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger interrupted a Paul Heyman promo; Heyman had declared Cesaro the most technically-sound wrestler in the WWE, which Colter and Swagger took offense to. Heyman, speaking on Cesaro’s behalf, accepted a challenge from Colter, speaking on Swagger’s behalf; the two will meet next week on Smackdown! Heyman remained at ringside for the following match to provide commentary on a contest between two of his “guys.”

7. In a bout that featured great action and average heat, Rey Mysterio defeated The Miz in 12:28 by pinfall with a 619 into a Seated Senton. In this match, the Miz earned near-falls with a double-knee gutbuster and an electric-chair facebuster, but Mysterio was ultimately able to emerge successful. Following the match, a frustrated Miz refused Mysterio’s handshake. Mysterio qualifies for the Money in the Bank ladder match, joining Bray Wyatt. (B-)

8. After Smackdown! returned from a commercial break, Mark Henry cut a promo in which he spoke about how he was going to make the most out of his opportunity tonight, and that he would take great pleasure in the chance to stick it to an authority figure such as Kane. He claimed to have been held down for most of his career, but said he wouldn't be denied now that a championship opportunity is no longer dependent upon backstage political maneuvering.

9. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Kane defeated Mark Henry in 12:19 by pinfall. Kane attacked Henry’s knee throughout the match; when a battered, exhausted Henry had an opportunity to attempt the World’s Strongest Slam, his knee buckled; Kane was able to make Henry submit with a rare figure-four leglock. After the match, Kane continued to apply the hold until Henry was screaming in agony. He then grabbed a microphone from ringside and told Henry that he should consider retiring from active competition, because he’ll never receive another title shot again. (C+)

10. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, John Cena defeated Alberto Del Rio in 14:55 by pinfall with an Attitude Adjustment. Del Rio attempted to target John Cena’s back with various german suplexes, but Cena was eventually able to catch Del Rio when the latter attempted a flying cross-body block, which Cena turned into the Attitude Adjustment. He will wrestle Kane next week to determine the representative from the Smackdown! side of the world-title tournament. (B)

Dark Matches:

3. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but non-existent crowd heat, Bo Dallas defeated Zack Ryder in 7:39 by pinfall with a Spear. These two workers are considered some of the WWE’s top young talent, and they had an evenly-balanced, surprisingly technical match tonight. (D-)

4. In an extremely short match, Corey Graves defeated Adam Rose in 5:25 by submission with a 13th Step. Things haven’t worked out Rose’s way over the past two weeks, while Graves is undefeated at 2-0; although Rose lost yet another contest, some impressive chemistry was on display between these two. (F+)

5. In an extremely short match, Sin Cara defeated David Otunga in 4:33 by pinfall with a La Mística. Sin Cara was able to rebound from his loss to Kalisto on last week’s Smackdown!, while Otunga left empty-handed once again. He was athletically-overwhelmed tonight. (F+)

Show Recap:

1. Chris Jericho comes to the ring and vents about Rob Van Dam’s interference in his matchup against Roman Reigns last week. He claims he doesn’t understand why Van Dam attacked him. Van Dam makes his entrance and reveals that he’s sick of Jericho receiving opportunities he didn’t earn. He tells Jericho the only way Jericho can earn his respect is by defeating him in the ring; Stephanie McMahon appears and gets the two to agree to a match at Money in the Bank. She also mentions that tonight, Ryback and the Big Show will be wrestling for a chance to qualify for the six-man ladder match at Money in the Bank.

In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Sami Zayn & Kevin Steen defeated The Usos in 10:02 when Kevin Steen defeated Jey Uso by pinfall with a fast roll up. Sami & Steen win the WWE World Tag Team titles. The Usos were completely astonished that the titles slipped out of their hands to a pair of unknowns. (C-)

3. Meanwhile, Dean Ambrose is backstage, and he’s furious with Seth Rollins for distracting him in last week’s match against Randy Orton. Ambrose warns Rollins to be careful the next time he’s in the ring, and says he will ensure that justice is done when his ally Roman Reigns battles Orton in the main event tonight.

4. In an extremely short match, Paige defeated Layla in 4:46 by submission. Paige makes defence number 1 of her WWE Divas title. Paige seemed to make some strides as a performer this week. (D-)

5. The Big Show is being interviewed backstage, and he talks about how excited he is to step into the ring with Ryback later tonight. He praises Ryback as an excellent in-ring performer who will eventually headline some pay-per-views for the company. However, he claims that Ryback is still a long way from being able to prevent the Big Show from earning a spot in the ladder match alongside Bray Wyatt and Rey Mysterio.

6. In a comedic interlude before cutting to commercial, Big E Langston was shown taking some swings in a batting cage. After RAW returned, he was in the midst of a match with Titus O’Neill. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Big E Langston defeated Titus O'Neil in 7:36 by disqualification; O’Neil appeared frustrated with the way the match was going and resorted to using a chair. He continued to attack Langston after the referee called for the bell. The workers seemed to struggle with their ring psychology. (E+)

7. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Rhodes Dynasty defeated Los Matadores in 9:48 when Stardust defeated Fernando by pinfall with The Beautiful Disaster. This marked the second straight week that the Rhodes Dynasty came away with a tag-team win, one which was closely monitored by the three members of the Wyatt Family, who ominously sat silently at ringside throughout. ©

8. Randy Orton cut a promo backstage in which he applauded Roman Reigns for the work he’s done in the ring so far during his time in the WWE, but claimed that he’d never be a champion while Orton was still around. Orton appeared dismissive of Dean Ambrose’s threats earlier, claiming that Reigns would need a lot more help to make it through to the title match at Money in the Bank.

9. In a match that had some good action but not much in the way of heat, Cesaro defeated Jack Swagger in 14:44 by pinfall with a Neutralizer. These two wrestlers had good chemistry in the ring together, engaging in a technical showcase. Following the contest, Sheamus accepted Paul Heyman’s challenge on behalf of Cesaro for a United States title shot at Money in the Bank.

10. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Big Show defeated Ryback in 9:31 by pinfall with a Choke Slam; Show’s opportunity came when he ducked under a charging Ryback’s clothesline attempt. Big Show will be the third of six participants in the Money in the Bank ladder match. (C+)

11. In a bout that featured great action and a good crowd, Randy Orton defeated Roman Reigns in 17:47 by pinfall with a RKO following botched interference by Dean Ambrose, who attempted to hit Orton with a missile dropkick but instead hit Reigns.
