tewfanno1
Hi guys I am new to TEW 13 and first time I am playing it. Reason why I am posting now is because it seems really daunting and complicated for a newbie like myself. I wanted to ask which is the best Mod to play as they are so MANY to choose from? What exactly is the real mod? Is this where there are all real wrestlers and promotions? Is there a latest update for this? Is it possible to get real faces and real logos on the game? If you're just learning how to play the game, I recommend the Default Database as it's built entirely on how the game runs. There is a promotion for pretty much any style you could ask for. A real world mod is a mod that reflects the real world. There are quite a few. There are some fantastic historic mods that take place right before or right after big moments in history and there are a couple modern day ones. There's also the ThunderVerse, which is another fictional database. It's absolutely fantastic. I'd also like to recommend using the Small Questions thread for any more questions as that's what it's there for. It'd be a good idea to browse the thread itself as well because it's full of a ton of info. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525696&page=

cappyboy
Another thread I'd recommend to newcomers. It highlights how I've been playing since TEW08 and one of the great benefits to newcomers is that it lets many of the more complex features come to you rather than having them overwhelm you when you're not ready for them. http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=524493&highlight=training+rules
mezomi
But I want to play with real promotions and wrestlers which is the best mod for that? Why do people play with a fictional database? So I cant ask questions in this thread? The fictional database is much more balanced than any of the mods. As said before, it was designed for this game. I also had the same question in mind when first playing this game but I soon found the fictional database to be a lot more enjoyable. The companies aren't as overwhelming as the real world mods and most mods either underrate or overate wrestlers. You pretty much get to design the characters in the fictional database anyway you want as you are not restricted by their real life gimmick. It is really based on your preferences though. Anyway, you can make regular threads for questions like this but it has to be a a very broad topic with plenty of room for discussion. That's not exactly the rule but I use that for a guideline. If I had your question i would post it in the simple questions thread.

From a purely game perspective, you can learn a lot from reading Phantom Strangers' [Where I Play] Total Extreme Wrestling on RPG.net. It's written directly to individuals with no experience in TEW, and its' a great way to lessen the learning curve. It's a good read regardless. As for an in-game experience, I would start as an owner a smaller company to learn the ropes: preferably a non-mainstream product without storylines. I've personally enjoy the default C-Verse myself. As far as RL Mods go, you'd probably enjoy playing Genadi's Montreal Aftermath, there is a lot of detail and a fair amount of in-game options. tewfanno1
I am really confused, it seems this game is more complicated than I thought. Thing is I want to play with a real database with real wrestlers and promotions not fictional. Why do people play with a fictional database? Also there seem to be a lot of mods and quite a few for the real world one. Which is the best one to play for the current year 2014? Is there no way to carry on the game instead of starting from scratch with the monthly update to the mods?
Mootinie
I just recommend playing a save with a promotion and time period that you know. Your shows might bomb, but just keep going until you become familiar with how the game plays. I've been playing TEW for around 2 years and I'm still learning new things all the time. Thing is I want to play with a real database with real wrestlers and promotions not fictional. Why do people play with a fictional database? Obviously, the real world databases are made by modders. Some people decide not to play them because they think the stats are unrealistic or unfaithful to certain wrestlers. People play the C-Verse (the fictional database) because it's designed by the developers of the game itself and thus, it's probably the most well-rounded database in terms of wrestlers stats. I don't play it myself but I can see that it's very well-made, I've been meaning to tackle it for a while now. Also there seem to be a lot of mods and quite a few for the real world one. Which is the best one to play for the current year 2014? It's always a good idea to play the most recent one since that'll probably have the most promotions, the most wrestlers and will just generally be the database that's been tweaked the most. It's up to you though, if you want to go back in time and start in May 2014, you can download that database and play that one. Is there no way to carry on the game instead of starting from scratch with the monthly update to the mods? I don't totally understand the question, but you don't have to play the most recent real world update, no. You can play the May 2014 one and play forever, as long as you're not playing the demo of course. P.S. This thread has links to every database, just go on there and choose whichever one you want: http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=525274
tewfanno1
Is C verse the thunderverse mod? Also if I decide not to play the mods and just the database the game came with it will that be the fictional database? But is there a current up to date real world mod as it seems there are many from the 90s and 00s? What I mean is people most likely always play the latest real world mod so do they start from scratch when there is a new update and if so what is the point as you will lose your game data every time you update to latest real world mod wouldnt you? Wow there are so many mods on that link, how do you choose which one to play?
Big Roguey
Is C verse the thunderverse mod? Nope, the Thunderverse mod is a fan made mod created by jhd1 with help from various members of the forum. The CVerse is the default database that the game launches with. franticloser
If you want the current world, check out Fleisch's Real World Chronicles, he isn't updating it anymore, though a couple of people are picking up the reigns to keep it going. Look at it this way, if you started a game with say August 2014, and you've played a few months in, why would you want to update that? The world you've created is already vastly different then the real world. Now if you want to start a new game you can always download the most up to date and copy that over, it wouldn't disrupt your save file, since it was made with the older data, and a new game would be using the newest one. All you have to do when downloading the new data is copy over the mdb file into the database folder, as long as you keep the save game folder you'll still have your old game. TheZies
I'm at work and can't help too much. but someone also uploaded the spreadsheet they use for NJPW to help organize everything from the tour, roster, match grades, titles, stables, overness. It can be a little complicated if you don't know excel, but actually found it helped me learn excel that much more. TEW HELPS YOU AT WORK. I modified it a little so I could follow my overness up and down. I'm not sure where it is on the forum (hoping someone can help). But I can upload what I have when I get home. It is very useful in tracking data if you're into that sort of thing. #iheartdata my other advice is to just dive in a start messing around with things. I second using Chronicles for a realworld mod. A+ player. And when you run into issues jump into the small questions thread, do a search and see what you can find. And if you repeat a question in there, no harm, everyone has always been super eager to help you enjoy the game in my experience.

The new update to the mod wont overwrite the old save?
franticloser
You are correct you can have both, and I'm not saying they wouldn't update the game, but they are going to keep playing their save game.
aqacommish
Advice I need some advice. I would like a game like TEW or EWR where I can start and run a promotion but would like to be able to start with real world wrestlers, staff, managers etc that I want. Does any of these game have the ability to hire who you want and go from there?

tewfanno1
But when exactly would I need to update the real mods, as it seems on here and a couple of other sites that there are constantly montly updates? That is what I am confused on what is the point of monthly updates if you are constantly updating and having saves from each update?
Jaded
You can just update them whenever you want. If you're playing a game and enjoying it, don't bother updating. If you're going to start a game and want the most up to date rosters, then update.

tewfanno1
What is difference between sites like ewwarehouse and ewbattleground and this forum? I thought this forum was mainly for mods. Are alot of mods easy to play and do alot of them have stats which are off? I want them to be a realistic as in real life so which mods should I avoid which stats are off and which should I get which stats are virtually spot on in terms of real life mods? Also how exactly do I install mods and picture/logo packs for each mod?
Erock
For real-world, anything Genadi, Hive, or NWAvsWWF is really good. There's a current one (up to April?) by Fleisch on Ewwarehouse, and I think Cpt. Charisma, too, but the stats need a little help. This site is more for feedback, where as Battleground/Warehouse just host the mods. The Mod Index here is pretty good. If you go into the Editior (hammer folder at home screen) and click Install A Mod it'll teach you.
Bigpapa42
"Easy to play" is entirely subjective. The worker attributes are always going to be somewhat subjective and open to debate. Even a mod with inflated attributes may not be easy to play because other factors can make it difficult. The WWE is somewhat of a challenge in almost any mod due to the size of the roster at almost any point in time. The same is true of WCW. Either promotion may have a lot of negative personalities on the roster (especially harmful in top workes) and negative habits, both of which can make things more difficult. Those are the kind of factors that a more experienced TEW player can work around but can be monsrous challenges for a new gamer.
