bookerman
This is my DAVE (Original Diary). Only change I've made is that I'm the owner and the style is Traditional. I've played with NOTBPW before and could pretty much get 9's (A) in my sleep with their loaded roster (I use # grades instead of the letters). I wanted the challenge of taking a smaller fed into the mainstream. Fortunately, I started playing after SWF had some graduates, so my talent wasn't raided too much. Feedback, ideas, complaints are encouraged and welcome. I'll go ahead and say the booking is a little rough at the beginning, but hopefully gets better. The matches will have *** grades. Only PPV matches can get greater than 4*. A "10" or "A*" TV match will be 4*s. The angle ratings will use #s.
bookerman
January 2005, Week 1 Danger Zone TV Dark Video for Joey Minnesota (4) – video for a rising star in the US and in DAVE Acid d Matt Sparrow (** ¼ ) – Typical veteran over youngster dark match Live New Wave (Scout and Guide) come out to hype their match with Adrenaline Rush (7) New Wave (Scout/Guide) d Adrenaline Rush (Sammy Bach/Teddy Powell) (***) Scout and Guide put away the energetic youngsters to win the match. Powell took the fall for the Rush when the New Wave executed their Tidal Crush (Guide performs a lariat while Scout does a German suplex) finisher. Backstage, Eddie Peak runs into Eric Tyler, who doesn’t appear pleased. Tyler says if he wasn’t so busy he would take Eddie into the ring and teach him a lesson. Eddie challenges him to do just that. Tyler agrees and a match is set for tonight. (8) Meanwhile, Nemesis is walking around backstage when Chris Caufield bumps into him. Nemesis is upset and tells Caufield to meet him in the ring if he has the guts (8) Shawn Gonzalez d Art Reed (** ¾ ) The two veterans didn’t mesh real well and caused some awkward spots. Fans seemed to be into it somewhat. Video recap of Tyler and Peak’s confrontation from earlier (7) Eric Tyler d Eddie Peak (***) Another mismatch in styles. Still a decent match, but nothing special. Tyler managed to capitalize on a Peak mistake and put him away for the win with the Silencer (reverse DDT into a Dragon Sleeper with body vice). Video recap of Nemesis and Caufield (9) Nemesis d Chris Caufield (****) Nemesis jumped Caufield before the bell and stayed on him for the opening minutes. There were a couple of near falls early, but Caufield hung tough and managed to stay in the match. Nemesis was winded from his early spurt and Caufield capitalized by wearing him down. Caufield almost pinned Nemesis a couple of times, but the veteran ring technician got his feet on the ropes or used unseen eye rakes to break up pins. A mistimed backdrop attempt led to Caufield ducking too soon and Nemesis hitting the Nemesis Arrow (Implant DDT) for the win. It didn’t hurt that Nemesis held Caufield’s tights during the pinfall. Caufield complained to the referee but to no avail. Overall Show Rating = 9 Not bad for the first show. Still not good enough to get the ratings the TV station wants, but oh well. bookerman
January 2005, Week 2 Danger Zone TV DARK Joey Minnesota d Shanw Gonzalez (***) Minnesota scored a surprising upset over the veteran Gonzalez. This match was better than anticipated Scout cut a promo talking about the talent of the New Wave (7) LIVE Darryl Devine gives a quick promo (7) Darryl Devine d Shawn Gonzalez (** ½) Decent match and another upset of Gonzalez. Devine won with the Devine Dream Drop (Cobra Clutch Suplex) NJ Devils (Alex Braun/ Tank Bradley) hype their match with the McWades (7) Tyler taunts Eddie Peak about the loss (8) Peak sees the taunt on a monitor and challenges Tyler to another match (8) NJ Devils d McWades (** ¼) Braun pinned Dean McWade following the Double Devil Bomb (Power Bomb performed by both men) for the win. Bradley looked a little tired near the end. Tyler accepts Peak’s challenge, shaking his head and talking about how Eddie must not have realized that he LOST the last match. (8) Nemesis cuts a promo about how he is the dominant force in DAVE and proved it last week in his win over Caufield. He said he doesn’t understand why he and Tyler have to take on 2 losers like Eddie Peak and Chris Caufield. (10) Easy Emma shoots T-shirts into the crowd before the main event (10) Nemesis/Tyler d Peak/Caufield (*** ¾) Good back and forth match between a team that is use to being together (Nemesis/Tyler) and a team together for the first time (Peak/Caufield). Caufield showed some growth during the match by being able to withstand some of the Nemesis onslaught and fire back to break his runs. Being the more technical of the two, Tyler focused on wearing down a body part and then tagging in Nemesis once he got in trouble. The end saw Tyler and Caufield brawling outside the ring while Nemesis caught a surprised Peak with the Nemesis Arrow for the win. Overall Show Rating = 8 A downer from last week, but still a solid show. It’s pretty obvious that Nemesis and Caufield aren’t done. Neither are Tyler and Peak. Even though Peak has lost two straight weeks, he is still the Brass Knuckles Champion and will defend that title next week. Also, the New Wave will take on the New Jersey Devils (Braun and Bradley) in a #1 contenders match to face the Animalz (Big Cat Brandon and The Wolverine) for the Tag Team Titles. NOTE: Shawn Gonzalez signed a written contract with NOTBPW and will be unavailable after this show, hence the jobbing to Minnesota and Devine. bookerman
January 2005, Week 3 Danger Zone TV DARK Darryl Devine cuts a quick promo (7) Graphic hyping Joey Minnesota (3) Kurt Laramee cuts a promo to hype his match with Matt Sparrow (7) Kurt Laramee d Matt Sparrow (**) Not a great match, but Laramee backs up his promo by winning LIVE New Wave hypes their match again the NJ Devils. Scout and Guide say they are going to win and then beat the Animalz for the titles (7) NJ Devils hear the comments from the New Wave and respond by saying that while the Wave may be younger, the Devils are more experienced. They tell the Wave that their date with the Devils is coming soon (7) Eddie Peak cuts a quick promo about his upcoming match against Ota (8) Eddie Peak d. Ota to retain the Brass Knuckles title (** ½) Mismatch of styles with the powerful peak taking on the quick Ota. Eventually, Peak was able to ground Ota and finish him off for the win. Once the bell rang, Peak was assaulted by Eric Tyler. Tyler hit the Silencer (reverse DDT into a Dragon Sleeper with body vice) to choke out Peak. He left Peak lying in the middle of the ring, gasping for breath (8) Chris Caufield, bitter about his loss, challenges Nemesis to a rematch, citing that Nemesis had to cheat to beat him. (9) Caufield also hypes his upcoming match with Art Reed (7) Chirs Caufield d Art Reed (*** ¼) Solid match between these two, even though there were some awkward moments. Caufield wins cleanly. Following the match, Nemesis brutalizes Caufield with 2 Nemesis Arrows. With Caufield virtually unconscious, Nemesis grabs the mic, gets in Caufield’s face and says “I accept b****!!”. Nemesis throws down the live mic, hitting Caufield in the head with a loud thump. (9) Henry Lee comes from the back to keep Nemesis from causing any more damage to Caufield. He and Nemesis argue before Nemesis lands a sucker punch and dazes Lee. Nemesis calls for a ref so he and Lee can have a match. Nemesis d. Henry Lee (*** ¾) Nemesis took the advantage early with Lee taking a beating. Lee was able to recover and mount a comeback, but it wasn’t enough. Lee ran out of steam and Nemesis put him away with a Nemesis Arrow for the win. Overall Show Rating = 7 Another down performance this week. The PPV looks pretty good with the following matches: * Nemesis v Chris Caufield * Eric Tyler v Eddie Peak * Unified Title Match: Bryan Holmes © v Johnny Martin * #1 Contenders Match: New Wave (Guide/Scout) v The New Jersey Devils (Alex Braun/Tank Bradley)
bookerman
DAVE Back in Black PPV January 2005, Week 3 DARK Adrenaline Rush d Wood/Tatsukichi (* ½) Bach and Powell get back on the winning side with a quick win over Larry Wood and the youngster Tatsukichi. Hell’s Bouncer d Matt Sparrow (** ½) Nice match between two guys that could be part of the future in DAVE. They seem to click well which is odd given the size difference. Sparrow put up a nice fight, but Bouncer eventually leveled him for the pin. Jungle Jack d Darryl Devine (***) Solid dark match between a rising force and a potential star. LIVE Video promoting New Wave (Scout/Guide) vs the New Jersey Devils (Braun/Bradley)(6) Joey Minnesota and Easy Emma cut a promo. Joey says he is the one who will take DAVE to higher levels (8) New Wave d NJ Devils (*** ½) Youth prevailed over experience. Match ended with the Tidal Crush on Bradley for the win. Scout and Guide had a brief celebration afterwards. They are now the #1 contender for the tag titles held by The Animalz. (7) Kurt Laramee cuts a promo hyping his match against Vin Tanner. Laramee says he’ll take care of Tanner and move on to bigger and better things (8) Tanner d Laramee (** ½) Tanner prevailed through Laramee’s loud mouth antics and youth. Laramee looked frustrated after the match. Eric Tyler hypes his match against Eddie Peak (9) Peak has a short pre-recorded promo for the match as well (9) A quick video played hyping the match and the history behind it (8) Eddie Peak d EricTyler (*** ½) The match took a lot out of both men and was a pretty stiff affair. Peak’s size and power was eventually able to overcome Tyler’s experience and technical excellence. Tyler was upset about the loss and used a chair to take out his frustrations on Peak. (8) Animalz d McWades (** ½) Warm up match for the Animalz. They completely overpowered the McWade twins. Crowd was a little down after the previous match. Johnny Martin cuts a promo about facing Bryan Holmes for the Unified Title (8) Johnny Martin d Bryan Holmes (*** ½) Holmes appeared a little worn out from his trip back from Japan. Martin has eventually able to overcome Holmes technical expertise and win the DAVE Unified Title. Nemesis has a short interview saying that tonight will be Caufield’s final appearance in DAVE. After tonight, Caufield will only be observing wrestling from a wheelchair. (10) Short video history of Caufield and Nemesis (10) Caufield d Nemesis (**** ½) The PPV ended on a highnote with Caufield scoring an improbable pinfall over Nemesis. Nemesis was furious after the match, but Caufield managed to escape from the ring before Nemesis could get his hands on him. Considering Nemesis state of mind, this issue is far from settled. Final Rating = 8 (B+) Comments: Solid PPV with Caufield and Eddie Peak getting some measure of revenge against Nemesis and Eric Tyler respectively. Holmes has acquired the services of Easy Emma to handle his DAVE bookings. Johnny Martin took advantage of a tired Holmes to capture the DAVE Unified title. The Tag Titles will be defended shortly with the Animalz taking on the New Wave.
bookerman
Guess Who's back.....Back Again....... January 2005, Week 4 Danger Zone TV Dark Kurt Laramee cuts a brief promo. Donnie J d Matt Sparrow (** ½) Nice little match as these two seem to work together well. Both got a nice round of applause when the match ended with Donnie rolling up Sparrow. Joey Minnesota promo Minnesota and Emma hype themselves as the next great US wrestling sensation. Crowd was lukewarm to the promo. Adrenaline Rush d Ota/Acid (***) Solid match that got the crowd going near the end. Bach pinned Ota for the win LIVE New Wave hypes their title match against the Animalz. They pretty much guarantee a title win. New Wave d Animalz (*** ¼) Wave proved to be prophets as they took the titles from the Animalz. Finish came when the ref was distracted with Brandon trying to enter the ring to save Tank. Scout and Guide took advantage and hit Tank with the Tidal Crush. Scout then raced over and knocked Brandon off the apron while Guide made the cover Eddie Peak cuts a promo saying he showed that he could beat Tyler and would not be afraid to prove it again. He was upset that Tyler attacked him after the match and requested another shot to prove it again. Tyler witnesses Peak’s comments on the monitor and said he would be more than happy to continue the beating he gave Peak after their last match. Phil Vibert interviews Chris Caufield who is still celebrating his win over Nemesis. Caufield says it’s the biggest win of his career, but some people are calling it a fluke. Caufield says he’ll be glad to face Nemesis again. Vibert followed up that interview with a quick promo from Johnny Martin, sporting the DAVE Unified Title. Martin talked about the history of the title and how he was going to be a fighting champion, taking on all comers. He hyped his first defense tonight against Art Reed. Johnny Martin d Art Reed (*** ¼) – Unified Title Match Martin and Reed had a nice, quick paced match. Martin was able to roll through the Dread Lock into a small package to keep the title. A frustrated Reed begrudgingly accepted Martin’s handshake after the match. Tyler/Nemesis hype their respective matches against Eddie Peak and Chris Caufield. They see Peak heading out to the ring and cut the interview short. Peak is halfway down the ramp when Tyler and Nemesis jump him from behind. Before they can stuff piledrive him through a ringside table, Caufield runs in from the back and begins attacking Nemesis. RM Stones races to the ring since it appears the two teams are going to have a match. Nemesis/Eric Tyler d Eddie Peak/Chris Caufield (*** ¾) Unfortunately for Peak and Caufield, it wasn’t much of a match as a worn out Peak was little use as a partner for Caufield. Eddie eventually regained his senses and received the hot tag from Caufield, but his offense was cut short by double teaming from Nemesis and Tyler. Any time Caufield would try to enter the ring to stop the double teaming, Stone would usher him back to his corner, which led to MORE double teaming. Peak eventually made it free to tag in Caufield, but Stones back was turned and the tag was not allowed. Peak laid spent on the mat, his last bit of energy used for a diving tag to Caufield. As Stones removed Caufield from the ring, Nemesis planted Peak with a Nemesis Arrow while Tyler stood guard to prevent Caufield from saving him. After the pinfall, Nemesis and Tyler continued to assault Peak. Caufield came back into the ring with a chair to run off Tyler and Nemesis. They backed up the ramp, jawing at Caufield. The show went off the air with Nemesis and Tyler standing at the top of the entrance ramp, arms raised in triumph. Overall Rating = B+ Comments: Good show with some solid matches. Looks like Nemesis/Tyler/Peak/Caufield are just getting started. Unfortunately, the ratings have not been to the level expected by East Coast Sports and Danger Zone TV has been cancelled. DAVE will run weekly PPVs during the month of February while awaiting responses from potential new TV outlets.

bookerman
Glad to know someone is reading this. My booking is somewhat sporadic so I'm trying to tie everything back together as I write the shows. I usually play in spurts so some of it is kinda disjointed. For a month or so of cards, I was going with a mid 90's AJPW feel with some 6 mans and tag. Now I'm really feeling a late 80's NWA/WCW vibe and using the DOTT storylines feeds right into that. At some point, I'll probably do a roster analysis. I haven't decided if I'll do it kayfabe style or "wizard of Oz" style showing how I observe the wrestlers from behind the curtain (Nemesis is my Ric Flair and Tyler my Arn Anderson for instance). If anyone has feedback or questions, let me know. For me, feedback is like crowd response. The more I get, the more I'll wanna keep doing this diary. I try to write the diary as I would imagine seeing it on TV, especially the main angles. Suggestions are also welcome.

Eddie Peak d Big Cat Brandon (*** ¾) Match of the night. Two big bruisers mixing it up. Eddie prevailed though, hitting the Peak of Perfection (Fireman’s Carry into a faceplant – like the F-5) for the win Johnny Martin vows to retain the Unified Title in a rematch against Bryan Holmes Martin d Holmes (*** ¼) Holmes was off again as his constant travel to and from Japan seems to be wearing him down. He went for a high risk move, which Martin reversed for the win. After the match, Holmes was frustrated and walked to the back with his head hanging. Nemesis asks the matchmakers to give Caufield another match so he can finish the beating he started. Nemesis then hyped a four way match againt Caufield, Vin Tanner, and Henry Lee. Nemesis d Tanner, Lee, Caufield (*** ¾) Nemesis managed to prevail against the stacked odds by picking his shots and letting the other three wear themselves down. End came when Caufield accidentally clotheslined Lee out of the ring. While apologizing to Lee, Tanner snuck up from behind and shoved him out. Caufield landed roughly and appeared to be hurt. Tanner gloated and then turned around into a Nemesis Arrow for the pinfall. With Caufield in pain, Nemesis went outside and attacked him with a chair. Officials managed to separate the two as the show went off the air. Overall Rating: B+ Comments: Bach and Powell upset the tag champs, but don’t look for that to happen again. Once Back and Powell recover from the beating, they challenge the New Wave to another tag match to prove their victory wasn’t a fluke. They then rush out to the ring to take on the McWade Brothers. Adrenaline Rush d The McWades (** ½) Bach and Powell were fired up after their beatdown and took the fight right to the bigger McWade brothers. Dallas caught Sammy Bach on a crossbody attempt, but Powell dropkicked them down such that Bach was on top. He then superkicked Dean McWade while Bach scored the pinfall. Eric Tyler came out to hype his match with Eddie Peak. Tyler proclaimed himself the Guardian of Tradition and he wasn’t going to just step aside for the new generation. If Peak wants to belong among the best, then he needs to prove it. Henry Lee and his apparent protégé, Chris Caufield hype their match against the Peak Brothers. Lee claims that the Hardcore is Thicker than Blood and plans on proving it tonight. He also blows off the accidental clothesline from last week saying he'd rather Caufield be aggressive and make mistakes than be passive and cautious. Caufield/Lee d. The Peak Brothers (*** ½) Brutal match between two rough and tumble teams. At one point, all four men were down on the mat bleeding. The end saw Caufield hit the Danger Drop on Doug Peak to secure the win. As Caufield and Lee celebrate, Easy Emma comes out to inform Caufield that he has been signed to a match to face Nemesis at the Counter Culture PPV later in the month. The cameras caught up with Nemesis backstage. He said he would settle the score once and for all with Caufield at the PPV. Nemesis then hyped his match against Vin Tanner, saying that Tanner was good in his day, but his day has passed. Nemesis d Vin Tanner (*** ½) Not a great match between these two, but there was some solid overall action. Vin wanted a rematch after losing the 4 way match last week. Tanner was able to mount a small comeback before Nemesis raked his eyes and finished him off with the Nemesis Arrow for the pinfall. A short video followed hyping next week’s PPV. Matches included: Teddy Powell of Adrenaline Rush vs. Guide of the New Wave Art Reed vs. Vin Tanner Eddie Peak © vs. Jungle Jack for the DAVE Brass Knuckles Title Eric Tyler vs. Alex Braun of the New Jersey Devile Nemesis vs Johnny Martin © for the DAVE Unified Title Overall Rating: B Notes: Decent matches, but nothing spectacular.
