RELEASE: Cornellverse 1997 v2.0 / CV97

Recommended Posts

Damn, Nemesis can carry an entire company on his back:

His debut match in DAVE saw him pull a 72 when taking the belt of Johnny Martin. Then at the weekly show afterwards, he did a 93-rated taunting of Martin.

Yeah he's single handedly dominating the wars but he got hurt and was out for 2 months in March/April letting me win a couple regional battles. Those wins allowed to me steal Vengeance

Interesting thing about the war in my watcher game, it's 2004 currently in my game and all four companies are still active and two of them are at Cult level with TV Deals:

RPW and PPPW. My guess is that they consistently came in second in the regional battles to ensure they survived, and slowly grew through attrition. DAVE and XFW are still cult though.

...also Canada is the land of a thousand promotions and CGC has had to go five years with the DeColt brothers locked up in HGC which is still cult, but now SWF has fallen down there with them.

...The Cverse has turned into Thunderverse for some reason.

I'm importing various stuff from CV97 into my CV2013 game and would appreciate any knowledge help i can get.

Is it known when New England Wrestling closed? If not known, would it be more realistic if NEW was active until RIPW opened? Or should SWF be without an feeder league for some period until RIPW opened?

Is it known when Big Battle Wrestling closed? If not, when is it realistic that it should have closed?

Gave this a go earlier. Boy oh boy, CGC is tricky. Had to split up the starting storyline from the get-go, just to have a chance at getting the necessary 3xC- stories. Losing about 50k a month. Losing Steve Flash too, although that's my own fault for jobbing him out. I'm already feeling the lack of depth at the top, and NOTPBW are already pulling away. I suppose the potential is there to go on a hiring spree to fill out the upper card, what so many people being on PPA's, but that's not my style.

Almost done with 1997 as DAVE. Three observations:

1) The briefest first: BHOTWG not wanting to renew Elemental's contract. They hit cult this year, and he stunk up the Best of the Super Juniors tournament with a 55-rated match versus Silver Shark.

2) PDW is working wonderfully. Even if only half the roster is youngsters.

3) And the biggest observation, the East Coast Wars:

It's beginning to look questionable that it will end anytime soon. The weakest company is XFW who aren't gaining any pop, but are wildly profitable.

RPW is also doing fine, having fans from New York to Florida.

PPPW was doing fine, due to having Brent Hill in every single match in it's top 10. So naturally I hadh to steal him.

I played a year as PPPW before hitting a creative wall and decided to run a HGC game. Really finding my groove with them and Strong won the belt (obviously).

I am pushing Liberty hard continuing to make him the first young "star", going unbeaten all year sans the Battle Royal for the title before losing to Sam Strong in a face vs face match. I am using the two in a very loose mentor/student relationship where they save each other from the myriad of heels on the roster, but they have no problem fighting each other when push comes to shove. Rip Chord and the Vessey Brothers can carry the workrate near the top of the card as well so the company is fine in pretty much every regard.

All known issues have been fixed and a few little things have been tweaked to make the mod a little better. Version 2.1 is now up for download in the first post, as is a long term sim I did with the 2.0 data. It's a fairly big download but I think it shows just how strong the data is overall, while also showing how good TEW has become at handling long term games. I hope you enjoy, and I'm hoping to get more columns written up in future too as and when I get the time to write them. I've always wanted to write more content for this time period so hopefully I can do it justice and make the world here seem even bigger and better than it already is. :)

The combination of charisma, just enough talent, an easy to cheer gimmick and not being past his best make him kinda cool. I envision a lot of "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan with him and I've been having some fun with him in my own HGC save. PPPW... it's a tough time for them. Talent raids, local talent with rival companies and a general bias against smaller guys sure doesn't make things easy for them. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Waghlon" data-cite="Waghlon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38531" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Damn, Nemesis can carry an entire company on his back:<p> </p><p> His debut match in DAVE saw him pull a 72 when taking the belt of Johnny Martin. DAVE has a decent roster but it was RPW who emerged from the East Coast Wars as a major player after that, expanding down the east coast and then across the USA while picking up some awesome talents, including some of the best genned workers. Was exciting to see them grow and be able to take on the best in the world, something I've never really seen in older version of the mod. The new TV networks really helped. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Pteroid" data-cite="Pteroid" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38531" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Interesting thing about the war in my watcher game, it's 2004 currently in my game and all four companies are still active and two of them are at Cult level with TV Deals:<p> </p><p> RPW and PPPW. I'm tempted to drop the popularity of all the companies involved or to go back to one show per month, but it's hard to bring balance to them so that any of them struggle. On the one hand, that's good for long term games in the mod... but on the other, it makes the war lose some of it's meaning. <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> In my long term game Canada is also packed with companies... TEW seems to go in a certain order for places it wants to open companies in. I've made a suggestion on how to improve this in future so that it doesn't just go in a certain order but actually reacts to demands, we'll see if it gets added in future. Would certainly be good for the game if it did. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Asaemon" data-cite="Asaemon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38531" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I'm importing various stuff from CV97 into my CV2013 game and would appreciate any knowledge help i can get.<p> </p><p> Is it known when New England Wrestling closed? The villains of both seem to bounce between them, with certain preferences, and it's a kind of delicate balance... ever since an entire generation of wrestling stars retired at once with the death of Ed Henson, Canada has been fighting to have a major company around again. NOTBPW had a start, but CGC broke in their own way with a SWF-styled glamourous product and their own family brought to the fore. There's a lot of room to grow, but no guarantee that they can... especially with HGC and SWF down south with lots of money to offer to people and many of the top talents becoming involved in the East Coast Wars, where injuries are common. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Waghlon" data-cite="Waghlon" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="38531" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Almost done with 1997 as DAVE. I think he was in Time Decline from early on, if not right from the start, but he still won the BOSJ tournament and was wrestling all the way to 2013 (I think), with his entire top row declined to 0's and most other stats being awful too. Elemental II retired before Elemental, and Elemental III doesn't even work for BHOTWG. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p><p> </p><p> Glad PDW is going well, I've enjoyed seeing how they do myself too. Liberty was my inaugural International champion and I'm planning to put him into a long term rivalry with one of my most recent signings, Eric Tyler. I'm having Tyler become the Raven to Liberty's Dreamer, and Tyler will be using The Untouchables to hide behind for as long as possible, stopping Liberty from ever getting a proper win over him. And hopefully having the Liberty/Strong connection will also help get Tyler and everyone else over too, boosting them to the point where they can realistically be a threat to the Vessey Brothers, my first tag team champions.</p><p> </p><p> I'm only a couple of months in and have made a few obvious big name signings (Eric Tyler, Nemesis and Brute Alexei) but I'm having a lot of fun. The roster has some good quality workers on it but lacks in star power... Chord doesn't even like losing to Strong (and they have bad chemistry in this save!) without a Keep Strong note so I'll be building up someone to dethrone Strong at some point... not sure who it will be yet, but probably Chord later in the year. Chord and Strong can carry the show with angles and either one in the main event, so for now I'm not worried. I've got lots of time to build up new stars before my show grades will suffer, but I know Chord and Strong hit Time Decline soon so there are limits on how good they will be. I wish I could get Tommy Cornell, but having set his contract to random instead of the old 6 months deal, he got dealt a long term contract in this save and will likely become an SWF star now. Damn him!</p><p> </p><p> At least my cruiserweight division is going to be awesome. Adding former PWH Wrestlers of the Year like Yosuke Narita (as Awesome Thunder, being a lot like Jushin Thunder Liger) and Dark Angel along side guys like Mr Lucha, Dark Eagle, Monty Walker and The Danger Kid... the division is going to be awesome. Especially with the likes of the entire CZCW and RPW rosters just waiting to come up too. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png"></p>

I've always been a fan of this mod, but I've gotta admit, I'm really digging this iteration. HGC starts out as a much bigger challenge with the gulf between established stars and new blood, and the East Coast war is way more interesting to watch.

Kudos, Derek B, on a phenomenal job.

When did CZCW replace King of the Indys Tournament with Battle On The Beach? I compared the 97 and 2001 mods and in 2001 the King of the Indys Trophy are retired in the 2001 mod and also had a different title lineage. But based on the 97 mod which workers are most likely to have won the King of the Indys Trophy?

King of the Indys Trophy

2000 ?

1999 ?

1998 ?

1997 ?

1996 Human Arsenal

1995 Fumihiro Ota

1994 The Explosion Kid

I have been playing this mod since the 08 version and I love it. I always start HGC out the same way and so even though I had been following this mod and new that for the first time in a few versions atleast the rosters were really getting shaken up. No Elmer or Curtis in the SWF, no Redwood in HGC blows my mind. Liberty's popularity is reduced a ton I learned that the hard way when I had him out there spouting off in a promo with Chord and Strong only to realize he's not in their league pop wise or even in the league below them.

However one thing I didn't notice until I set up all my feuds was that the man that was supposed to main event the first ever Hollyweird against our hero Sam Strong wasn't even in the company. Dread is not in HGC and at first I was devastated. I already had storylines booked for every other major star and I didn't want to sacrifice one of those stories for Sam Strong's main event. So it was looking like a Sam Strong vs. Peter Valentine main event for HGC Hollyweird which would have drawn ire greater than or as great as Beefcake vs. Hogan at Starrcade 94. Then I happened across a non monster and non Rip Chord opponent for Strong. A guy he's never faced and a guy that could match him on the microphone and has an axe to grind with Sam Strong so its going to be awesome. Kudos Derek this is even more awesome than I originally thought.

I'm 2 years into a watcher and boy is the face of the industry has been rocked! Eric Tyler has become the head booker of SWF after 2 runs with the DAVE Extreme Title. Nemesis had severed his spine so his DAVE run left alot to be desired. DAVE is still the clear number 3 in the US but losing Monty Williams to TCW and Eric to SWF has given them no chance to move up to cult.

SWF lost their American TV Deal and never did replace it. They still have Supreme TV airing in UK but have the PPV Deal in the US. They have fell to Cult through an importance drop in the North West(it really was no fault of their own) so they are now stuck in a limbo and can't go anywhere. Richard Eisen decided to hire a Booker and Eric Tyler was the one who answered the call.

HGC keeps throwing the belt on Bryan Vessey trying to give him the push of the century. While Bryan does serviceable matches they eventually cave under the pressure and throw it back on Sam Strong. Sam Strong appears to still not be in time decline and is the most over person in the world! Strongamania is here to stay! Everytime it looks like Sam is unbeatable he loses the belt to Bryan Vessey.

Hopefully this mod can easily be converted to TEW16. Essentially, one would just have to add new workers (if there are any), and fill in some of the new mechanics (if any). Or am I underestimating the work here? :p

Having played the latest TEW only for a short while, I kind of missed out on the latest developments of the C-verse.

It's not quite as simple as importing the new workers as a number of workers have had their names changed, doing a simple import would leave you with two workers who are literally the same guy but with different names. Like Stretch The Chicken Boy and Disturbed.

That being said I'm quite sure Derek will be updating this to 2016 and will do a great job of it as well.

Reading through the history of the CV on the website has got me thinking. Wasn't there or has there ever been a CV mod based on the 70's or 80's? Other than the big stars and workers who retired to stay in the business and thus the CV. We'd have to do some creation of characters and then fine tuning in relation to the current CV (or 2016's) to keep things in check (using the mod guide as well), but it would be hella fun to unleash the territory system to it's full potential with a pure classic C-Verse mod. See where the business ends up in 2016 eventually :p

Thought this would be the best place to post.

There was a 70s mod back in 2010.
