War of the Worlds: Trust the Narcissist

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/WCW_7_zpstqjumtlz.jpg Vs. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/WWF_zpszfhr6rvf.jpg

Here we go, guys; another Monday Night War diaries using the best real world mod there is, Hive's War of the Worlds mod... with one small alteration. See, logically speaking there would be no reason for alternate history without a small divergence, and the divergence in this diary is Lex Luger re-signing with the WWF after SummerSlam 1995 instead of jumping ship and shocking the world on September 4.

In my reporting of shows, I won't be showing the rank given for a segment or the program itself; it's up to YOU to decide what you do and do not like and find stupid. I am going to do my best to detach myself from the booking and "roleplay" Eric Bischoff and Vince McMahon. I also will not be profiling the companies as an opening; alongside my minimalist approach, it simply isn't realistic in 1995. If you want to know what's going on in a company, at least for the first several years, read the shows and the weekly newsletter that will contain ratings information, backstage news and rumors, and more.

Beyond that, this is much for your fun as it is for mine, so readers, be active, be noisy, and let's watch history unfold one more time.

What Does Eric Bischoff Have Planned?

http://pwtorch.com/artman2/uploads/3/BischoffEric5_WK210.jpg

Tonight is the night we've been hearing about for months, the night when the worlds of World Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation are going to collide as WCW Monday Nitro hits the airwaves at 9/8c on TNT. But what is Eric Bischoff and Ted Turner thinking, and how badly will the industry be damaged with a fragmented Monday night viewer base?

In a statement issued by Turner Broadcasting System, WCW Monday Nitro promises to be "explosive," delivering "the best live sports entertainment available today, every Monday night." Nobody can argue that WCW brings some of professional wrestling's biggest stars to the table: "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan, "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and Sting all have top spots on their roster. They also boast huge financial backing and branding opportunities with literally every Ted Turner property and a warm relationship with Disney. But is splitting the Monday night audience the right thing to do, or could it be considered reckless and potentially devastating to the industry? The answer may be that WCW has nothing to lose; after all, WCW Saturday Night will continue to air (though shortened to 1 hour) every Saturday evening, there's no known alterations planned to their announced Pay-Per-View schedule through the remainder of the year, and profits have been on the rise since Eric Bischoff first took the reins.

That makes the real problem Vince McMahon's, as if the Chairman and former CEO of the World Wrestling Federation needs any more trouble this decade; with the value of wrestling programming sure to be lowered with the audience split between the two programs, there is no knowing how the USA Network will view a Monday Night Raw only drawing a rating between 1-1.5. Monday's installment of the program is also being preempted by the Westminster Dog Show. Will anyone bother to watch Raw after Monday Nitro gets a full, unopposed swing at capturing the audience?

WCW Monday Nitro will feature a double main event, as Big Bubba Rogers will challenge Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and Sting will battle rival Ric Flair.

Vader Released

vader.jpg

Big Van Vader, a WCW main event attraction since 1992, has indeed been released as previously rumored. Vader and Paul Orndorff did have an altercation backstage that did result in Vader's lip being busted open, and no sources suggest that Paul Orndorff didn't tear in to him. There is no word at the time of publication if the WWF has already approached Vader or if the competitor may look to make a return in Japan. This will clearly cause a shakeup in WCW's Fall Brawl card, where Vader was slated to join Hulk Hogan's team battling the Dungeon of Doom in the War Games match.

Diesel And Lex Luger Slated For Confrontation

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/-iRPsuvCXlM/hqdefault.jpg

Regardless of what happens on Monday Nitro, Monday Night Raw is promoting a faceoff between WWF World Heavyweight Champion Diesel and Lex Luger. The incident leading to this occurred at SummerSlam when Lex Luger interfered to save Diesel from Sir Mo, only to be attacked by the Champion. Sources say the current plans are for the feud to run through Survivor Series, but not the Royal Rumble in January.

WCW And Its Foreign Invasion

http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130406194928/prowrestling/images/2/20/WCW_New_Japan_Supershow.jpg

WCW is said to be prepared to feature top international competition on Monday Nitro, as Jushin "Thunder" Liger is being promoted for the program. This report is coming off the hells of Collision in Korea, a WCW/NJPW co-promotion in North Korea that saw Ric Flair compete with Antonio Inoki in front of the largest gathered crowd to ever see a professional wrestling match. WCW is also said to have good relationships with Japan's WAR promotion and AAA out of Mexico. Sources speculate that Eric Bischoff may have plans to revive the "Cruiserweight Division" idea that never got off the ground during Bill Watts' tenure.

WCW Monday Nitro

Monday, Week 1, September, 1995

Greensboro Coliseum - Greensboro, North Carolina

Attendance: 10,961

Monday Nitro begins with a neat new intro, effectively a fire sweeping through a city with images of WCW's stars hitting their finishers superimposed on brick walls. It's a very different approach than the jazzy Raw intro, and concludes with a burst of flames behind the Monday Nitro logo.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Eric%20Bischoff%203_zpsrejyldas.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Bobby%20Heenan_zpsvw5mxyga.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Steve%20McMichael_zpsvq32tsi4.jpg

Eric Bischoff, Bobby Heenan, and the newly debuted Steve "Mongo" McMichael narrate a sweep-around of the arena, with shots of fans cheering outside of the arena and at ringside. Eric Bischoff tries to talk over Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and Steve McMichael's bantering about Steve's dog that he has brought with him, for some reason.

Eddy Guerrero Vs. Flyin' Brian

The inaugural match of WCW Monday Nitro is a contest between the up-and-coming Eddy Guerrero and Flyin' Brian. Eric Bischoff notes during their entrances that the contest was originally slated to by Flyin' Brian against Jushin Thunder Liger, but a sudden change in NJPW's touring schedule led to the masked competitor's absence. Bischoff and Mongo put Eddy Guerrero over for "stepping up to bat" as the contest begins. Chain wrestling opens the bout with a lot of irish-whip counters. Eddy Guerrero gets the better of Flyin' Brian and starts slapping on submissions. Brian finally manages to escape the predicament by shoving out of a headlock. Guerrero rebounds off the ropes, but Flyin' Brian hits him with a dropkick that sends Eddy crashing to the mat on the outside.

Brian then takes control of the match, decking Eddy a few times around ringside before rolling him back in. Flyin' Brian hits a flying crossbody and then Air Pillman to the delight of the audience and makes the pinfall.

Winner: Flyin' Brian by Pinfall

Backstage, Gene Okerlund interviews the WCW World Champion, Hulk Hogan. "Mean" Gene asks Hogan what he thinks about facing Big Bubba Rogers tonight, and the Hulkster goes into a speel about bodyslamming Big Bubba and every last member of the Dungeon of Doom if they interfere. Hulk Hogan says nobody can find Vader but he has a "big, tough new dude" to bolster the Hulkamaniacs for the War Games Match at Fall Brawl in a few weeks.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Disco%20Inferno_zpsbf1se8v3.jpg

A transparent disco ball is imposed on the screen and some generic 'Disco Fever' tune plays. A character identified as 'Disco Inferno' by Eric Bischoff discoes all the way to the ring and back out again, complete with corny remarks from Bobby Heenan about his "glory days" and Mongo and Bischoff teaming up on him for it.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Eric%20Bischoff%203_zpsrejyldas.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/DDP_zpsehqogq6c.jpg

The bantering leads right in to Diamond Dallas Page coming out of the back and over to the announce table. DDP puffs his cigar and cackles and calls himself WCW's only true star with WCW's only true finisher, the Diamond Cutter. Eric Bischoff protests his interruption of the broadcast and Page responds by demanding a match tonight. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Jim%20Duggan_zpsql9fmvkd.jpg "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan comes out & gets in DDP's face. Bischoff steps between them, but not before Page slaps Duggan. Security is forced to come out and restrain the two men before chaos ensues, and Bischoff drives home that this kind of volatility is what Nitro will be like every single week, live on TNT.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Sting%2012_zpsvyyuwdk8.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Ric%20Flair%2014_zpszbwie0en.jpg

Sting Vs. Ric Flair

The hot Greensboro crowd goes supernova when Sting comes out and Ric Flair's loyalists make their presence known as well. Sting and "The Nature Boy" start grappling, but the locking-up doesn't last long as Sting starts popping off Gorilla Press Slams. Sting pummels Ric who stops the attack with a thumb to the eye. Naitch hits a few chops and tries to irish whip Sting to a corner, but Sting reverses it & Flair flips over the turnbuckle onto the apron where Sting completes the spot with a clothesline that knocks Ric Flair to ringside.

Sting pursues Ric Flair but the Nature Boy reverses a suplex and takes back over. The referee has to stop Flair from hitting Stinger with a chair, so Flair rolls Sting back in the ring to avoid the count-out. Flair hits a few small moves, including his running knee drop, but every fall barely gets a 2-count. Ric hits a back suplex and applies a hold to Sting's arm, not noticing that http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Arn%20Anderson%205_zps4cj1r1ti.jpg has come from the back, watching the contest at ringside. Flair flips himself to land crossway on top of Sting but only gets a 2-count. Ric goes to pick up Sting, who hits a few elbows in his gut and shoves him to the ropes for another Gorilla Press Slam. Ric finally notices Arn Anderson, but their verbal exchange doesn't last long as Sting whips Ric into a corner & hits the Stinger Splash. "The Nature Boy" crumples and rolls out of the ring, hobbling to the corner facing the entranceway. He gets in to a shouting match with Arn Anderson at ringside before starting up the entranceway as the referee counts him out.

Winner: Sting by Count-Out

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Arn%20Anderson%205_zps4cj1r1ti.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Ric%20Flair%2014_zpszbwie0en.jpg

Double A won't let Flair go that easily. He rushes after the Nature Boy and, catching him by his hair and tights, turns him around and runs him back to ringside & rolls him in the ring. The crowd pops heavily at what they expect to come next, but by the time Arn Anderson can get in the ring Ric Flair has escaped again, this time running up the entranceway and to the back as his former Enforcer points and shouts at him from the ring.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Hulk%20Hogan%206_zpsefozhrx2.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Jimmy%20Hart%202_zpst9suauwd.jpg

'American Made' hits and the vast majority of the fans come to their feet as "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan storms down to the ring for his match against Big Bubba Rogers, an energized Jimmy Hart escorting him the whole way. Hogan gets in the ring and tears his shirt off before removing the WCW World Heavyweight Title from his waist and holding it up, cupping his hand to his ear at every side of the ring. Eventually, however, the music ceases and Hogan is left standing in the ring, wondering what's going on. That's when http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Kevin%20Sullivan%204_zpsjn6kjiof.jpg The Taskmaster comes out to the ire of the audience. Taskmaster tells Hogan that the Dungeon of Doom is here to dominate the World Heavyweight division of WCW and that Big Bubba has been "disposed of." The Taskmaster tells Hulk Hogan that he has more than enough of a challenge for him in the Dungeon of Doom and calls out The Giant.

WCW World Heavyweight Title Match

Hulk Hogan© w/Jimmy Hart Vs. The Giant w/The Taskmaster

Hulk Hogan sells The Giant well early on, as not only does the Giant shove Hogan back after the initial grapple but also drops the Hulkster with a single huge hit. The Giant begins a process of slow but heavy strikes that keep the Champion at a disadvantage, but a pair of pinfall attemps both come up well short. Hulk Hogan finally blocks a punch and gives one of his own, slowly beating The Giant back to the ropes before irish whipping him across the ring; but the Giant catches Hogan's Big Boot and grabs the Hulkster by the throat, cackling evilly. Hogan struggles for a minute before kicking the Giant in the stomach to escape his clutches, but The Giant clubs Hogan in the back and, after getting a 2-count, regains control.

After a bit more pummeling, The Taskmaster jumps up on the apron and commands The Giant to finish this. The Giant reaches down and grabs Hogan, starting to pull him to his feet but The Hulkster suddenly hits him with a right hand, then another, and another to stun the monster. He runs the ropes and comes off with a big clothesline that teeters The Giant but doesn't drop him. Hogan does this again but is still unable to drop him, so instead he leads The Giant to the turnbuckle and, going to the second buckle, hits his trademark 10-Count Punches. A dazed Giant begins to wobble away from the turnbuckle but a final big right from the Champion finally puts him on his butt.

Hulk Hogan begins to Hulk Up, whipping the crowd into a frenzy. He waits until the Giant stands and strikes him a few more times before sending him to the ropes and feeding him a Big Boot on his way back. The Giant teeters but stays on his feet, so Hogan runs the ropes and comes at him with a forearm. The Giant catches the Champion by the throat and hits a huge Chokeslam, bringing them both down; however, the Giant lands on his back as well, and Hogan just manages to roll onto his side and drape an arm over The Giant for referee Randy Anderson to count the pinfall.

Winner and STILL WCW World Heavyweight Champion: Hulk Hogan by Pinfall

The Taskmaster jumps in the ring and starts hitting the downed Hulk Hogan. Sting and Randy Savage rush in to help their friend but The Giant is up at that point, hitting a chokeslam on The Macho Man. Out pours the Dungeon of Doom and Sting can't possibly fend them all off, resulting in a beatdown for the Hulkamaniacs and the announce team wondering how the Hulkamaniacs can possibly recover from this as Nitro goes off-air.

WWF Monday Night Raw

Monday, Week 1 September, 1995

Hartford Civic Center - Hartford, Connecticut

Attendance: 15,000 - SELL OUT!

Monday Night Raw opens with its usual jazzy background music, but instead features snippets from SummerSlam with Vince McMahon's commentary narrating the brief images.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Dean%20Douglas_zpsaijltb0z.jpg

Dean Douglas graces the screen in a much more sophisticated classroom than the locker room setup usually seen, and the Dean is dressed like a total yuppie complete with a checkered vest. Dean Douglas invents an algorithm to imply that Razor Ramon was simply too fat to reach the top of the ladder and seize the WWF Intercontinental Title in his match with Shawn Michaels at SummerSlam.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Owen%20Hart_zpstx0stua1.jpg & http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Yokozuna%203_zpsm57f7rlm.jpg w/http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Mr%20Fuji%203_zpsfvwk8hvv.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Clarence%20Mason_zpsau637lsv.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Jim%20Cornette_zpsmd7hzssa.jpg Vs. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Billy%20Gunn_zpsvohnehvh.jpg & http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Bart%20Gunn_zpsx48qplms.jpg

WWF World Tag Team Titles Match

Owen Hart & Yokozuna w/Camp Cornette Vs. The Smoking Gunns

Owen & Bart Gunn open, and it's clear right off the bat that "The King of Hearts" wants nothing to do with Bart's aggressive strikes. Finally catching a right, Owen spins into position and hits a Russian Legsweep; the subsequent pinfall goes nowhere, but it does buy him enough time to take out to Yokozuna. Yokozuna immediately goes to work splattering Bart Gunn with a slam and some splashes, and Billy fares no better when tagged in. Camp Cornette at ringside can be seen antagonizing the fans as much as supporting their Champions.

Yokozuna drops a returning Bart Gunn by hitting him with his thigh, persay, when the competitor runs at him, but Owen Hart manages to reach out and tag himself in, covering Bart for a 2-Count. Bart doesn't stay down long, as after a brief grapple he manages to pull off a slam on Owen, and tagging Billy in they both run the ropes and come back with elbow drops on the Champion. Billy does not manage to score the pinfall, though in between a few holds he tries at least twice. Once again, Owen is forced to resort to a counter - this time a Toe Drop - and tag in Yokozuna once more. Billy almost reaches his corner, but to no avail; Yokozuna pulls him back in the middle of the ring & pounds him with a few hits before coming off the ropes with a massive legdrop for the pin.

Winner and STILL WWF World Tag Team Champions: Owen Hart & Yokozuna by Pinfall

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Owen%20Hart_zpstx0stua1.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Yokozuna%203_zpsm57f7rlm.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Jim%20Cornette_zpsmd7hzssa.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Clarence%20Mason_zpsau637lsv.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Mr%20Fuji%203_zpsfvwk8hvv.jpg

There is little time to celebrate the victory, as Owen jerks his Title out of referee Mike Chioda's hands and marches over to Yokozuna. Owen clearly says something harsh and Yokozuna replies, leaving Camp Cornette to step between them. Vince McMahon suggests Owen is jealous of Yokozuna's performance.

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Lex%20Luger_zpsqler52ht.jpg

Lex Luger's music hits, and wearing the same American flag-designed shirt the hero comes down to the ring. Lex has the footage played from SummerSlam showing where he came out to help Diesel and even the odds against King Mabel and Sir Mo, only for the Champion to hit him immediately. Lex says he's pretty tee'd off about Diesel hitting him but that he understands the Champion was probably confused and made a mistake. Lex says all he wants is for Diesel to come out and thank him for his help and apologize. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Diesel%207_zpsltwwrczu.jpg Diesel's lumbering tune hits and the WWF Champion makes his way to the ring. Diesel tells Lex that, yes, he was confused, and yes, if he had known Lex's intentions he wouldn't have hit him. "Big Daddy Cool" then says that he doesn't owe Lex anything. Lex gets upset and tells him he does, saying that his help is part of the reason that Diesel is still the Champ. Diesel steps closer to him and tells him he's wrong, reiterating that he owes no one - including Lex, or the fans - anything.

Rich Myers Vs. Sycho Sid w/Ted DiBiase

Sycho Sid towers over Rich as the bell is sounded. Rich begins to shiver before daring to hit Sid, but the punch itself seems to just bounce off of him. Rich tries coming off the ropes with a clothesline but Sid clobbers him and goes for the pinfall, getting a close 2 after a single strike. Sid then stands Rich up and lays in to him with several punches and kicks, knocking him around the ring before flattening him with a Powerbomb for the pin.

Winner: Sycho Sid by Pinfall

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Sid%20Vicious_zpsojahwpya.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Ted%20DiBiase%203_zpsapytcliy.jpg

"The Million Dollar Man" wastes little time in getting a microphone and singing the praises of his "Priceless Powerhouse," Sycho Sid. Sycho Sid takes the microphone and cackles. He mocks Shawn Michaels' performance at SummerSlam, saying he would've wrapped the ladder around him after hitting him enough times with it. Sycho Sid says he wants to take the WWF Intercontinental Title from Shawn Michaels and "break the Heart Break Title... Kid, in the process."

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Goldust_zpsi03q3kuw.jpg

Orchestra music precedes Goldust coming to the ring as Vince and Jerry "The King" both question why Goldust requested this time block from WWF President Gorilla Monsoon. Goldust says that he and his body feel disrupted by a dark, menacing presence that he describes as "causing carnage in the glimmer of his gold." He says this man has begun to haunt him, to tarnish his dazzling light every time he steps into a WWF arena. He finally identifies this figure as The Undertaker.

Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler ask each other why Goldust is suddenly so bothered by The Undertaker. Vince then stops mid-sentence and receives a message through his headset that will undoubted bother Diesel: a #1 Contender Match has been scheduled for next week between Lex Luger and King Mabel for a Title shot at WWF In Your House 3: Triple Header. He and Lawler play up the announcement, then plug some WWF merchandise.

Bret Hart Vs. Jean-Pierre Lafitte & Isaac Yankem DDS

Bret Hart seems collected as he stares down the larger, snarling Dr. Yankem. The latter manages to overpower the Canadian hero early on, flooring Bret with a few (awkward-looking) strikes and ultimately making the mistake of attempting a wristlock; Bret reverses it and, taking the match to the ground, locks on a Sleeper Hold. Yankem quickly powers his way out of this using a Snapmare and follows it up with a few slams and a 2-Count pinfall as Jerry "The King" Lawler sings his praises on commentary. Jean-Pierre Lafitte is then tagged in and, instead of pursuing the attack, chooses to taunt Bret. "The Hitman" makes him regret this by winning a punching contest and following it with a Swinging Neckbreaker that looks great and makes the crowd pop hard. The following pin scores a 2-Count. Bret Hart stands Jean-Pierre up and unloads on him around the ring until Lafitte can barely stay standing. He manages to leap towards his corner and tag in Isaac Yankem, who immediately hits a big clothesline on Bret. Lafitte has not left the ring, however, and after directing Isaac Yankem to bodyslam Bret he begins to put the boots on "The Hitman." Isaac Yankem joins him, and when referee Earl Hebner is unable to restore order he calls for a disqualification, leaving the telecast to end with Jerry "The King" Lawler abandoning his seat at ringside and obnoxiously cheering Isaac Yankem and Jean-Pierre Lafitte on in beating down Bret Hart.

Winner: Bret Hart by Disqualification

The War Begins In Earnest

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/MNW1_zpsvcpajcj5.jpg

The battle between WCW Monday Nitro and WWF Monday Night Raw began this week as the titans of professional wrestling collided - even if not head-to-head, as Raw was preempted by the Westminster Dog Show. Nonetheless, Nitro accomplished a stellar 2.1 rating for its debut that featured a stacked card, with Ric Flair narrowly escaping from Sting and Arn Anderson and Hulk Hogan nearly losing the WCW Championship to The Giant. Later that night, Raw would pull a 2.5 on a program that featured a business-as-usual card, with four of the WWF's top stars getting wins; however, next week Lex Luger is slated to take on King Mabel for a shot at Diesel's WWF World Title. Two questions still linger, however: what will happen when Nitro and Raw actually go head-to-head next week, and can Nitro maintain the fast pace?

Final score: Nitro-2.1, Raw-2.5

WCW's New Issues With New Japan

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/220px-Nakanishi_Manabu_zpsmgtmez1m.jpg

Though promoted, neither Jushin "Thunder" Liger nor Big Bubba Rogers appeared on Monday Nitro as scheduled. This is because the two were on the other end of the planet competing for NJPW, as Antonio Inoki's deals with them are evidently more ironclad than the ones they have with WCW. Sources say that NJPW has informed WCW that many of their shared stars will be secured for New Japan on Monday's and that WCW may only have them for Saturday Night as their arrangement originally dictated. Eric Bischoff is said to be livid over the situation, and it's only been the efforts of workers like Kurasawa keeping the peace between the two parties. We will have more on their tense relationship as we learn it.

Diesel-Powered Politics

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/tve75334-19940829-1877_zps3n8zaynl.jpg

In regards to a rumor floating around, our sources agree that Diesel has told WWF Chairman Vince McMahon that he either should not or simply will not job to either Lex Luger or King Mabel to hand off the WWF World Heavyweight Title. Vince is said to be of the belief that Diesel's reign has ended for now, and that an interim Champion needs to be given the Title to carry it through WrestleMania. One would think he intends to pass the Championship off to a heel so that a babyface Royal Rumble winner can capture the gold at WrestleMania, but our sources say that there is no plans to call off the Diesel/Luger feud.

WCW's Star Hunt

We received news earlier in the week that WCW has reached out to several WWF stars not locked down in their contracts through the future, and we can confirm that Sgt. Slaughter is one of them. WCW is said to have offered Sgt. Slaughter and several others highly competitive deals. While there is no word on WWF retaliating, one can imagine that Vince McMahon will fight to retain such trademark stars of the World Wrestling Federation.

Marty Jannetty Released

http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/07_zpsubb8ihn2.jpg

Marty Jannetty, one half of the great Rockers tag team alongside Shawn Michaels, has been released as confirmed by a WWF statement wishing him the best in his future endeavors. We are receiving conflicting reports of what happened: some sources say that this was at Marty's request due to poor morale, while others say Vince McMahon made the call as he attempts to trim the roster. Regardless, Jannetty is gone from the WWF and one can only imagine the impact that his friend-turned-rival Shawn Michaels had on both Marty's morale and the decision to terminate his deal.

Following the intro, the announcer's only take a moment to welcome fans to the show and plug the main event - Sting defending the US Heavyweight Title against The Shark - before the camera goes to the ring, where Gene Okerlund introduces Ric Flair. Slick Ric struts out of the back in fine form in his usual sports coat, taking a moment to play with some young women at ringside before beginning the interview. Flair tells "Mean" Gene that Arn Anderson has been as much a part of his life as anything, and reminisces on yesteryear before saying at Fall Brawl, he has to straighten his old best friend out and remind him why HE, and not Arn, is an 11-Time World Heavyweight Champion.

The American Males Vs. Harlem Heat w/Sister Sherri

Booker T and Marcus Bagwell open the contest, and while Bagwell manages to out-grapple the smaller half of Harlem Heat, Booker gouges his eyes during a referee break and takes control. Booker lights up Marcus with various kicks before, after taunting the crowd, tagging in Stevie. Stevie goes to work on Marcus, hitting some basic slams that only amount in a pair of 2-counts. Stevie casually tags out to Booker as Marcus tags out to Scotty Riggs, and from the top Riggs lands a Double Axe Handle and takes over.

Trying to regain momentum, Booker reverses an irish whip that sends Riggs to the ropes, but the latter turns a Back Body Drop in to a Sunset Flip for a very near fall. Stevie decides he's seen enough & comes in the ring, but Bagwell meets him halfway with a huge clothesline. Riggs continues his offensive on Booker with strikes and a big dropkick but cannot put the Bookman away. The tag goes to Marcus Bagwell, but Sister Sherri intervenes by grabbing his leg. By the time Bagwell can free himself Booker nearly knocks him over the top rope with a forearm and takes over. Booker wears down Bagwell with a headlock and some stomps and kicks. A Harlem Sidekick gets a very close 2-count.

Booker takes his time getting back to his corner to tag Stevie in, buying Bagwell enough time to get the hot tag to Riggs. Scotty goes up top and tries to hit another Double Axe Handle, but Stevie Ray kicks him in the ribs on the way down and Scotty is hurt. Col. Robert Parker can be seen making his way down to ringside, where he hooks an arm around Sister Sherri's waist and begins acting rather amorous. Stevie forgets about Riggs and starts arguing with Parker, allowing the American Male to roll him up and get the 3-count. Bagwell and Scotty get out of the ring before the baffled big man can figure out what just happened, but Sister Sherri is way to enthralled with Col. Parker to care.

Winner: The American Males by Pinfall

In what is very clearly a dungeon - going by the smoke, stone walls, cobwebs, torture rack, and cauldron - The Taskmaster is rubbing his hands, talking about the doom that will soon face Hulkamania. The Taskmaster says Hulk Hogan is lying about having a fourth man, and challenges Hogan to have his mysterious partner meet him in the ring on next week's Nitro.

The audience gives a great pop for "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, as the announce team plugs his upcoming match with Diamond Dallas Page. http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/DDP_zpsehqogq6c.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Kimberly%20Page_zpszn4145yv.jpghttp://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Max%20Muscle%203_zpsq7ijhvq4.jpg Diamond Dallas Page soon appears on the stage with the Diamond Doll and Maxx Muscle in tow. DDP taunts "Hacksaw" before collecting a microphone and telling him that if he is going to compete on Nitro, it's going to be against a "real star" and Jim Duggan can take on Maxx Muscle instead.

Jim Duggan Vs. Maxx Muscle w/Diamond Dallas Page & Diamond Doll

Early on Maxx Muscle uses his size to overpower Hacksaw, but a striking contest makes him come out on bottom as the tough-as-nails Duggan rains strikes on his younger opponent. Jim Duggan sends Maxx Muscle to the corner, but the latter raises a boot to stop his charge & takes over. Maxx Muscle lands a knee lift and some punches but Duggan doesn't seem so phased. Maxx, evidently seeing Duggan's adrenaline pumping, applies a Sleeper Hold to stop him. After a big Side Slam Maxx goes for the cover and gets a 2-count. His subsequent strikes don't affect Duggan like he wants, however, and Duggan reverses a Sleeper into a Hammerlock & hits a big Back Drop to take over. DDP nearly has a heart attack at ringside as Duggan nearly gets a fall from a Scoop Slam. Hacksaw hits an Atomic Drop and a Powerslam, but before he can go for the cover Diamond Dallas Page slides in the ring and lands a Diamond Cutter, giving Jim Duggan the DQ.

Winner: Jim Duggan by Disqualification

Hulk Hogan and "The Macho Man" Randy Savage are talking at a park, signing autographs for a bunch of little kids. All the while, Hogan is promising a skeptical Savage that he really has a fourth man, and he's more than ready to bring the head to the Dungeon of Doom. They start to hear a loud noise, and suddenly http://i1382.photobucket.com/albums/ah255/padd2013/Paul%20Wight%206_zpslmmwypvd.jpg The Giant comes rolling into the parking lot in an honest-to-God Monster Truck. He slams the truck into Hogan and Savage's motorcycles while laughing and howling maniacally. Savage acts like he's having some kind of stroke with his gesture while Hogan tells that "stinky Giant" to get away from his gear. The Hulkster charges the Monster Truck but can't reach The Giant, who continues to laugh psychotically.

WCW United States Heavyweight Title Match

The Shark w/The Taskmaster Vs. Sting©

Sting explodes into action, literally leaping onto The Shark & landing some strikes. The Shark tries to get away but finds himself unable to, as Sting hits a back elbow to stagger him and goes for a Gorilla Press Slam - but The Shark is too heavy, and Sting is crushed underneath. The Shark flattens the Champion twice with a pair of slams and The Taskmaster works the crowd from ringside. Sting cannot catch a break after two big clothesline and a kneelift that pops him good in the face. Pinfall gets 2. Sting battles his way out of a side headlock & runs the ropes but The Shark runs in to him, knocking him flat. He then sends Sting to the ropes and charges after him, but Sting drops and pulls down the top rope, sending The Shark crashing to the outside.

Sting pursues him, knocking him around ringside but a distraction from The Taskmaster allows his Dungeon of Doom stablemate to escape. Sting rolls back in the ring where The Shark puts boots on him. Standing him up The Shark goes for a punch but Sting blocks it and delivers one of his own. They go through the spot 4 times before Sting comes off the ropes with a flying clothesline that flattens the big man. Sting sends The Shark to the corner and goes for a Stinger Splash but The Shark just manages to get out of the way. Sting is stunned and turns right around into a huge slam from The Shark for a 2-Count. The Shark comes off the ropes and hits a titanic Leg Drop for another close 2-Count. The Shark stands Sting up and goes Irish Whips him into the corner, but Sting moves and The Shark slams into the turnbuckle. Running to the other side of the ring, Sting comes flying in with not one, but 2 Stinger Splashes, and a Gorilla Press Slam gives him the pinfall as Nitro goes off-air.

Winner and STILL WCW US Heavyweight Champion: Sting

King Mabel w/Sir Mo Vs. Lex Luger</strong></span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

King Mabel and Sir Mo come out first, and once in the ring have a whispered conversation in the corner. Lex Luger explodes from the back, not bothering to stop as he flexes his muscles. Lex starts at King Mabel, but Sir Mo kicks him in the back of the knee just prior to the referee ringing the bell, avoiding a disqualification. Mabel takes full advantage of this, repeatedly targeting Lex's right leg with kicks and stomps with a couple of pinfall attempts. After thrashing Lex for a minute King Mabel pulls him to a corner and goes up top to splash his injured leg, but Lex escapes by rolling out of the ring. Lex has trouble getting up, and by the time he does find his footing and roll back in the ring Mabel is already up and the pummeling continues.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

Lex catches a break when Mabel tries to run the ropes and come at him, meeting him halfway with a big clothesline. Mabel pops back up only to eat another clothesline and this spot is repeated twice more before Lex goes for a pinfall, getting a 2. Lex Irish Whips King Mabel to the ropes. Simultaneously, Sir Mo leaps up on the apron and Lex opts to deck him instead of pursuing Mabel, who charges into Lex and knocks him flat. Pinfall attempt gets 2. Mabel lands some strikes around the ring before headbutting Lex, but this awakens something within the blonde warrior and Lex unloads with a series of right fists, beating Mabel all the way to the ropes and clotheslining him up and over, right onto Sir Mo.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

The referee begins to count Mabel out and Lex watches from the center of the ring, crouched and ready in case the big man manages to get back in the ring, but</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

King Mabel manages to roll back in the ring to avoid the Count-Out and he and the referee are both baffled by the fallen Lex Luger. McMahon nearly has a conniption as Mabel rolls Luger over and splashes him for the pinfall.</span></p><p><span style="color:#FF0000;">

In the first head-to-head showdown between <em>WCW Monday Nitro</em> and <em>WWF Monday Night Raw</em>, <em>Nitro</em> was victorious with a 2.8 rating, an increase of nearly a point from their inaugural show at the beginning of the month. The main event on <em>Nitro</em> featured Sting defend his US Heavyweight Title against The Shark in a show that also saw an attack on Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage by The Giant. Meanwhile, <em>Raw</em> had a #1 Contender Match for the WWF Championship at their upcoming <em>In Your House 3: Triple Header</em> Pay-Per-View and a big tag team match planned between Dean Douglas and Sycho Sid against Razor Ramon and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. <em>Nitro</em> won big in the first quarter hour, beating <em>Raw</em> 3.1 to 1.8, but viewership drastically swung back to <em>Raw</em> in the final quarter hour where Lex Luger and King Mabel beat out Sting and The Shark 2.8-2.4.</p><p>

Sources report that Jim Cornette quit the WWF in dramatic fashion last night just prior to the </span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><em>Monday Night Raw</em></span><span style="color:#FF0000;"> tapings. While Vince McMahon was attending a production meeting Cornette is said to have showed up and gone on a WWF-bashing tirade backstage until agents told him to leave, causing Cornette to become even more belligerent and, in a flurry of vulgarity, vow to see the WWF buried. What caused his outburst and subsequent termination is unclear at this point.</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Reports suggest that Jake "The Snake" Roberts has signed an agreement with the WWF and is scheduled to return to the company at </span><span style="color:#FF0000;"><em>In Your House 3</em></span><span style="color:#FF0000;">. Roberts has been absent from the WWF for several years, and sources say the agents will be watching him closely for any reappearing behavioral issues.</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

If you are curious as to who WCW has planned for the fourth man you're not alone; reports suggest that WCW doesn't have anyone lined up for the role either. After a breakdown in negotiations with several WWF superstars Eric Bischoff is said to be scrambling to secure a new name for the role at </span><span style="color:#0000FF;"><em>Fall Brawl</em></span><span style="color:#0000FF;">, and with just 8 days until the Pay-Per-View we at Pro Wrestling Unveiled can only hope he pulls the rabbit out of the hat quickly.</span></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

So, I don't quite know what to think about the silence with over 400 views and counting in a week. Give me some feedback. Do you like it, do you not like it, do you like the formatting but not the time period or vice versa?

If you guys enjoy my style and presentation but just aren't feeling the 1995 start, tell me, because I had an idea to modify the CVerse 1977 mod to better align with employment histories and etc. from the revised CVerse '97 mod and spawn years of alternate CornellVerse history.

Are you playing as both promotions? I may have missed that bit, if so, sorry.

I am enjoying it though. I like the layout. Very easy to read. One thing I'd change though is the pictures being in the middle of sentences. It causes a weird break in the text. Just my opinion, but I prefer when images are on their own lines, with the text underneath them. If that makes any sense at all.

Keep up the good work though. This is one of my favorite eras.

This has been a great read thus far, PFElton. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see what happens now that Cornette is gone. Also, I hope Mabel doesn't win the title at Triple Header. :p

I do agree with Jaysin about the way the pics are inserted in the text. It is weird and breaks it badly. I'll suggest you a better way to do it. It is like this.

''Text.............

Image.

Continuation of Text..........''

Again, It's just a suggestion, and feel free to continue doing it your way, as this pic thing isn't exactly a diary killer.

also, just got caught up. pretty decent so far. the time period is fine. while '95 wasn't that exciting irl, I haven't seen a good mid 90's diary on here besides war of Thrones and you're using both so I'll stick around and see what happens. The presentation is ok, but as other said, the mid-sentence pictures kinda take away from it. But you're just starting, so I'm sure you'll continue to tweak it and find a formula you like while also evolving the stories

Well great, thanks for the feedback guys, I'll keep course. To be totally clear I do intend to make this a long-term diary, so hopefully you'll all stick with me for the ride. :)

V.K. Wallstreet Vs. Cobra

Wallstreet explodes on Cobra right off the bat with several big punches and kicks. V.K. Wallstreet goes for an Arm Drag but Cobra reverses it and plants Wallstreet. Looking enraged, Wallstreet hops up and lays in to Cobra, beating him into a corner before pulling him back out & hitting him with a shoulder tackle. Pinfall gets 2. Cobra tries to stop the attack by swinging with a big right but Wallstreet side-steps it and applies an abdominal stretch. Cobra is left to suffer for several minutes before Wallstreet releases the hold and pulls him right into the Stock Market Crash to collect the pin.

The Taskmaster to the ring for an interview. The Taskmaster scowls at the fans and their jeers, telling them to shut up before he has The Giant come out and Chokeslam every last one of them. The Taskmaster says he's looking forward to his victory tonight against Hulk Hogan's non-existent replacement for Vader, and he's really looking forward to the death of Hulkamania at Fall Brawl.

While the announcer's argue over whether or not Hogan actually has a fourth man we are taken to the WCW backdrop backstage, where Harlem Heat argues with Sister Sherri about Col. Robert Parker. Booker T says they can't have her "actin' like a sucka" for Col. Parker at Fall Brawl when they take on his clients, Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater, in a WCW World Tag Team Titles Match. Sister Sherri tells them to mind their own business and that last week was just a fluke mistake.

"The Enforcer" Arn Anderson to the ring. Okerlund asks Arn what it's going to be like to take on one of his best friend's ever at Fall Brawl. - and "Dawn" plays, bringing people to their feet as Ric Flair saunters out from the back and joins Double A and "Mean" Gene in the ring. Ric Flair asks Arn Anderson who the hell he thinks he is. "The Nature Boy" tells Anderson that he would be nowhere if it weren't for Ric Flair, and that there is no way Arn will walk out of Fall Brawl as anything but what he's always been: a loser. Arn tells Ric Flair to remember this when he breaks his back with a Spinebuster at Fall Brawl. Ric Flair and Arn bump chests and look ready to swing when "Mean" Gene steps between them, and the crowd pops when Ric Flair tears off his suit and goes berserk in one corner of the ring. Regardless, the situation slowly diffuses itself when Arn Anderson leaves the ring and the announce team speculates on what their match will be like at Fall Brawl.

Jim Duggan and Eddy Guerrero Vs. Diamond Dallas Page and Maxx Muscle w/Diamond Doll

DDP taunts Jim Duggan heavily as the bell rings, but quickly tags out to Maxx Muscle and slides out of the ring as the match begins. "Hacksaw" and Maxx Muscle take off decking one another with Jim Duggan outstriking Maxx Muscle. He hits and big Scoop Slam and tags out to Eddy Guerrero, who pulls off an Arm Drag and applies an Arm Bar on Maxx Muscle. The bigger man can't be held like that forever, Eddy finds out as Maxx gets to his feet with Eddy hanging on to his arm and botches a Spinebuster for a 2-count. Maxx tags out to DDP who slaps Eddy in the face while Guerrero is down before landing some basic slams for a pair of near falls. DDP hits a big suplex and, after mouthing off at the fans, lands a Diamond Cutter on Eddy Guerrero but skips the pinfall followup. DDP laughs as Eddy comes to his senses and crawls to the corner to tag in "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, prompting Page to tag in Maxx Muscle. Maxx Muscle eats a big clothesline as he steps in to the ring and Jim Duggan pops off two big Bodyslams. He challenges DDP to tag in, who simply drops off the apron when Maxx Muscle attempts to make the tag. Jim Duggan stand Maxx Muscle up and hits a Clothesline for a 2-count, then runs the ropes and hits the Old Glory for the pinfall.

Winners: Jim Duggan and Eddy Guerrero by Pinfall

Disco looks really upset that he was interrupted and mouths an acceptance of the challenge.

Badd, Jim Duggan will finally get a shot at Diamond Dallas Page, Harlem Heat will try and challenge Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater for the WCW Tag Titles while keeping an eye on Sister Sherri, old friends will become rivals as Arn Anderson and Ric Flair lock up, and the War Games Match that will decide the fate of Hulkamania.

The Taskmaster says he and everyone else knows Hulk Hogan doesn't really have a fourth man because nobody wants to be on the loser's team. Taskmaster orders referee Randy Anderson to begin counting out his non-existent opponent. Randy begins the count as the announce team talks about the doom Hulkamania will face with only 3 men in the War Games Match. The Taskmaster Vs. Ron Simmons

The Taskmaster and Ron Simmons lock up but Simmons shoves him back & starts in with a few strikes. The Taskmaster jabs him in the eye to stop the attack and lifts him up, driving him with a Shoulderbreaker. Simmons pops right up to The Taskmaster's surprise and hits a dropkick that quite nearly misses. Ron Simmons Irish Whips Taskmaster around hitting clotheslines and forearms with a couple of pinfall attempts in between but the crowd has quietened down considerably. Simmons lands a piledriver but The Taskmaster survives the subsequent pinfall attempt by hooking a foot on the ropes. Ron Simmons slaps on a few Holds before standing Taskmaster back up and going to Irish Whip him, but Taskmaster reverses and Back Elbow's Ron Simmons on his way back. The Taskmaster lays in the kicks and stomps, choking Simmons out until the referee orders him to break or risk DQ. The Taskmaster lifts Ron Simmons up for a Delayed Suplex, but sure enough Ron Simmons reverses it & takes his sweet time dropping Taskmaster back down for a close fall. Suddenly, the wild characters from the Dungeon of Doom come pouring out of the back but hot on their tail is the Hulkamaniacs. Before you know it the ring is a wild 6-on-4 brawl and the referee throws the match out before fleeing for his life. The chaos ensues the ring & ringside area with the announce crew hollering about Fall Brawl as Nitro goes off the air.

Winner: Draw by Double Disqualification

Isaac Yankem DDS Vs. Bret Hart

Isaac goes to leap at Bret, who dodges under his arms and runs the ropes - but Isaac catches him on the way back and a Spinning Slam takes the wind out of Bret's sails and establishes Isaac Yankem in control. Yankem uses his size to his advantage, throwing his weight behind strikes and trying his best to keep Bret's shoulders down on pinfall attempts. Isaac Yankem stands up Bret Hart and applies a Bear Hug. The crowd really rallies behind Bret as he struggles, but eventually he falls lifeless and referee lifts his arm for the TKO once.... twice.... but not the third, as with renewed energy Bret headbutts Yankem a few times to break the hold, then a Swinging Neckbreaker that brings them both down.

After a few seconds Bret manages to crawl on top of Yankem and go for a pinfall but the mad doctor kicks out at 2. Bret Hart gets Isaac Yankem part of the way upright and Snapmares him before applying a headlock. Isaac Yankem manages to get to his feet while Bret holds on & backs them into a corner, smushing "The Hitman." Yankem turns around and goes for a punch but Bret grabs him and reverses Yankem into the corner, then stepping up on the second turnbuckle begins raining the 10 Punch down on the big man. However, Yankem grabs the back of Bret's tight at the sixth hit and, stepping forward, plants Bret with a HUGE powerbomb for a one....two....kick out.

Isaac Yankem cannot believe Bret kicked out, and after arguing with the referee goes to pick Bret up for another powerbomb, but Bret strikes him repeatedly in the face and brings the big man down, landing on his chest. Isaac Yankem gets to his feet and walks right into a Belly-To-Belly Suplex that sends him crashing hard. The crowd pops as "The Hitman" lays in to Isaac Yankem with stomps and punches. Bret runs the ropes & hits a Knee Drop on Isaac Yankem's face then goes to his legs where he applies the Sharpshooter. Yankem doesn't last long.

Winner: Bret Hart by Submission

Diesel comes down to the ring for his main event match, but Vince McMahon meets him there and asks what he has to say about costing Lex Luger the #1 Contendership last week. Diesel says he realizes that people hate him for what he did to Lex Luger and that's fine, but Lex is not the right opponent for him. Vince says some people are saying that he is scared of Lex Luger. Diesel says he is NOT scared of Lex Luger, but he isn't stupid enough to just hand him a Title shot either.

There ain't no way that Disco loses at Fall Brawl. :p

Yeah, I'm worried if Disco loses the PFEltonVerse's fans are going to leave the arena en masse. :p

Also, just a note, since my Newsletter thing seems to be well-received... there is false information, to one degree or another, planted in every article for realism's sake, so I wouldn't buy in to everything you read if I were you guys. ;)
