How I'm (sort of) running a COTT game

Recommended Posts

After deciding to give SWF a break for a while, I started up a new game.

This time, I'm playing as the Confederation Of The Territories.

While you can't have Alliance-specific titles, I did the next best thing. I made COTT its own promotion and made it a part of the COTT Alliance.

Then, I only hired wrestlers who were stars (or potential stars) from all five member promotions. Only wrestlers working for one of the five COTT feds are eligible for hire, and if a wrestler leaves the original fed, they also will be removed from the COTT roster.

Then, I created a COTT singles, tag team and women's title (I added women's divisions to MAW and CZCW so that Ollie would have someone to trade with for luchadoras).

I also took the Rip Chord Invitation and Sam Keith Classic from MAW to make it an Alliance-wide tournament. In addition, I set up a monthly "Best Of The Territories" event, which basically functions the same way a crossover comic book functions between multiple comic lines. Essentially, it's a super-show where we bring in top stars for "what if?" and dream matches, as well as to continue feuds ongoing in the various COTT feds.

It's been pretty satisfying so far, and I just wanted to share the idea here because until (and unless) we get a TEW sequel with alliance titles, this is about the only way you're going to be able to do something like that.

In my second COTT game, this is how I handled it as well. I left MAW events there and just made new ones for the COTT promotion. Every 3 months is a super show and the rest of the time is a COTT Presents that features one member promotion heavily. Also, every member promotion got at least one crossover event, so there was plenty of roster movement.

I think it works pretty well, and the only thing you can't do is trade titles on member shows.

I'm new to TEW 2013, was looking to either join COTT, or rival it with a new group. As an alternate way of handling things, I was thinking of just gradually editing the alliance umbrella titles between promotions. Is there any downside to this?

Also, if public, do you know how much momentum affects things?

Also, are you then running the COTT promotion as well? or how does that work?

You would need copies of the title for every promotion in the alliance, as the alliance does not have the ability to have separate titles. While doable, you lose out on title history. It's all up to style and what you want to do, but I opted for title history and convenience.

And yes, I ran all of the promotions that were members of the alliance, including the COTT promotion. You can just pick ones you wish to run, so it's less to manage.

I made COTT its own promotion and am solely running events from it, leaving the other member feds to the AI.

I treat COTT shows as promotional "supershows," though now I'm running a weekly one-hour TV show intended to showcase talent from all six members feds (we added FCW to the alliance).

What do you recommend as the fairest way to set this up? my alliance includes

APW (the cornellverse version)

FCW

My thought is edit to match the highest of the allied promotions, maybe a slight boost above if any overlap is present, and let the game decide what size that is. Then, maybe average prestige and 5-10 pts as the parent promotion (so wrestlers attend those vs small promotion events), and plain average for momentum. My only concern is that if I only do a quarterly interpromotional event, that it will stagnate (both due to fewer events to raise popularity and to penalties when infrequently visiting game areas) and hold the members down given that ratings will be tied once I edit to make it public.
