Help a person who can't keep a save for long

Recommended Posts

I used to have the same problem as you. The key is to just start a save that you think you'd be interested in doing and stay at it. The hardest part is the beginning but once you start rolling through a couple months, it gets to be a lot of fun and the ideas just come too you.

That is what I do. Right now in the default database I have twenty saves going (I just counted them). Out of those twenty I am only playing my diary game, a CZCW game, a MAW game, and a GCG game on a regular basis. I also have an SWF and HGC game going on in the 97 C-Verse database (I need to start a real world game again).

When I get bored with a save I move on and play another one.

Also, maybe you should try doing a diary. It will keep you focused on a save because you will have people who read it and so you are more apt to play the game so you can provide them with updates.

My advice is pick a mod or era that interests you the most or you are more familiar with. I started watching wrestling around 2004 and tried to have a save in 1985 and just couldn't do it. My current save is 2012 (My SvR Diary) and it has lasted to the end of 2012. So pick an era you are interested in.

Long term planning is also helpful, if you have a goal that is an in game year or two away then you are more likely to stick with it

You need to plan, plan, and plan. Also set goals. The first six months are really difficult because you are really just getting into the swing of things. The first six months is rebuilding the roster, figuring out what to do, and also developing new stars.

I only play one game at a time. For every TEW game I end up playing only 1 or 2 games and always classical. TEW 2013 is my 94-2006 game. TEW 2010 was my 97-2007 game.

You need to plan long term. Stay focused on it. I cannot do a 1985 or 87 game because I didn't watch during that time (born in 87). You need to find a mod or time period you like and go from there.

Make goals. Make sure it is competitive. If you are not being challenged you will slowly lose interest.

For example, right now I am getting bored of my 94-2006 game and to make it interesting I am debating leaving the WWF and starting my own promotion to feud with the WWF (still not sure though)

I have a 1994 save that I've gone through three sim years with. I usually play a year then I'll end up taking a couple weeks off from it from burnout and to come up with the ideas for the next year.

One thing that I think has helped my burnout is that I do a lot of prebooking for the PPVs. So, on a quiet Sunday afternoon I'll spend a couple of hours coming up with the next quarter to 6 month plan (more if I have a long story.) I then let the autobooker do my matches for the TV shows generally. I keep a pretty standard formula for matches. It keeps me from over doing matches and saves my money matches for the PPVs.

I add the angles and tinker with the main event matches til my liking. I'm able to hit may story markers and it feels like I accomplished something rather than burning and churning TV shows.

The day after Mania I will make roster trades between brands, bring people up, give people vacations and etc.

I plan April (night after Mania) to Summer Slam. And night after Summer Slam to Wrestle Mania so I know exactly what my plans are for everyone.

I use a notepad. (or Write it now, but notepad works).

Outline what I want to do and how I want to do it.

Who I want in the roster, who I want to get rid of and how I'm going to over specific workers...)

I know there is a built in notepad but I use an out of game notepad because you cant always access the in-game one in all the screens (unless there is a key shortcut I don't know about yet?)

It's always cool to plan out and see if you can get it to work, and it keeps your focus better.
