JANUARY WEEK 1, 1985

 

 

Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura welcomes us to the show, saying tonight is a big night. You don't want to miss a minute of action here tonight. Before we get to the first match Gorilla sends it to Vince McMahon who is with the Fashion Plate Classy Freddie Blassie.

 

Classy Freddie Blassie Interview

Freddie Blassie tells McMahon he got The Iron Sheik going to break the back of that no good low down dog right here next. Nikolai Volkoff is going to the world why he is the greatest import from Russia, by crushing the man with big muscles and a tiny brain Tony Atlas. C-

 

Junkyard Dog vs The Iron Sheik w/ Freddie Blassie

This was a fight with little wrestling actually involved. It was more of a brawl than anything else. As both men battled for the upper hand, Dog got the upperhand and it seemed he was ready to put the Sheik away. When Blassie jumps up on the apron and Junkyard Dog goes to grab him. That's when Blassie cracks his cane right over the Dog's head getting the automatic DQ.

Winner: Junkyard Dog by DQ Time: 10:16 Rating C+

 

Roddy Piper Interview

Gene Okerlund says right here tonight Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Snuka will be facing this man right here Hot Rod Rowdy Roddy Piper. Piper speaks saying Snuka is nothing but garbage, and so is your World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan. Everybody is San Francisco cheers Hogan and love Hulkamania. Hot Rod comes and is booed. This is the man who has destroyed Jimmy Snuka, who has utterly destroyed Hulk Hogan, and beat Andre the Giant from pillar to post. Tonight with Mr. Wonderful their going to beat the two chumps from pillar to post. B

 

Moondogs vs U.S. Express w/ Captain Lou Albano

Windham and Rotundo tries to wrestle with Moondogs but that doesn't actually work for them. As the former World Tag Team Champions brawling style lets them take control of the match early on. It seems the young team is going to lose to the veteran team. Rotundo is being beaten down when he finally is able to mke the hot tag. Windham comes in like a house of fire and clears house. He throws Moondog Rex into the ropes and hits a flying lariat and goes for the pin and gets the three count at 7:51. Gorilla says he likes wants he sees in the U.S. Express. While Jesse says he doesn't think U.S. Express got want it takes to beat Adonis and Murdoch.

Winners: U.S. Express by pinfall Rating C

 

Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura talks about Andre the Giant and Ken Patera facing off right here tonight. Gorilla says Lord Alfred Hayes is standing by with Bobby Heenan and his two charges Ken Patera and Big John Studd.

 

Bobby Heenan w/ Ken Patera and Big John Studd

His Lordship asks Heenan wants going happen tonight. Heenan says it's flat and simple, as in Andre will be laying on his back counting stars when the World Strongest Man body slams Andre. Right here tapping on the arm of Big John Studd is the one true giant. Their is many pretenders but only one true giant and that is this man Big John Studd. B-

 

Blackjack Mulligan vs David Schultz

Schultz sneaked attacked Mulligan giving him the upper hand. He punched and stomped on Mulligan, Schultz looked well on his way to winning this match. When suddenly he gets to cocky and starts taunting Mulligan. Slapping Mulligan in the face, after the third slap though, angry Mulligan began showing some offense by punching Schultz in the gut a few times backing him off. Mulligan got to his feet and a fist fight breaks out between these two men. Mulligan gets the upper hand and ends the match when he hits patented jumping back elbow. He gets the pinfall at 7:40.

Winner: Blackjack Mulligan Rating C

 

Tony Atlas vs Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie

This was a brutal match as Volkoff dominated Atlas. He beat down on Atlas driving knees into the back of Atlas trying to setup the bear hug. Atlas began fighting back the fans were getting into when he climbs to the top rope. He flies off the top rope with flying crossbody, Gorilla and Jesse are in shock as Volkoff catches Atlas in mid - air. He hits the backbreaker and goes for the pin at 8:12.

Winner: Nikolai Volkoff Rating C-

 

Hulk Hogan, Jimmy Snuka, and Mr. T visits

Mr. T leads the Hulkster and Snuka around a grocery store telling them over and over we got to get some good stuff. If yo don't get good stuff I am going to put it back. Hogan tells T we got to circle back around because I saw my high protein on the high shelf back there. T gets directing them to the back to get some of his favorite juices. He grabs some carrot juice and passes it to Hogan telling here you go this is good for you. He looks and sees some wheat grass and tells Hogan and Snuka tries this it's real good for you. Hogan and Snuka look real unsure about it and Hogan tries to beg off trying it. Hogan tells him we don't eat grass and T says you know you right man, but it some wheat bread be good, we eat wheat bread. He holds up the wheat bread and than asks come on where the wheat bread. Snuka grabs for milk and Hogan and T says we don't drink milk it's for babies. . Tonight you guys are going to take down scrawny Piper and Mr. Horrible right here in San Francisco. Mr. T says we got to get a couple of bananas. They start gobbling on bananas and Mr. T looks at Jimmy brings you sense of home don't it? Hogan starts saying I don't know we doing guerrilla warfare. That's when T says bananas make you swing man. It's makes you swing. Hogan and Snuka are smiling trying to not break out laughing. As T says bananas make you like Gorillas!!! Gorillas Man!!! Hogan and Snuka catches themselves about to laugh. Hogan says man that almost went over my head. They grab their drinks Hogan nearly gags and almost spits out, while Snuka does spit it out. Hogan tells him it's terrible and Mr.T you drink this and will make us ready. Mr.T looks in the camera I pity the fool. I pity the fool your dead meat. Yeah I say your dead meat here tonight in San Francisco. B

 

Don Muraco Interveiw

 

Don Muraco is standing with Gene Okerkund. Mean Gene asks him where Mr. Fuji is? Muraco stares holes in Okerlund and turns looking at the camera. Muraco speaks finally it's all about numbers and if your willing to accept the number you have been drawn or will you fight to get a better number?Rating C+

 

Andre the Giant Promo

Andre tells the world he is going to break Patera in half and show Studd he is no giant. Rating C

 

Andre the Giant vs Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan

As Patera and Heenan comes out Monsoon tells everyone that Andre can't wait to gets hands on Patera. Andre comes to the ring and the fans are screaming for him. When Andre gets in the ring Patera tries to hit a high knee only to be driven back by a headbutt to the head. Andre grabs Patera's arm and began pounding it with forearm smashes. Jesse remarks he keeps ding that he may break Patera's arm or separate the shoulder. Patera pushes Andre to the ropes and gets a rope break. Patera and Andre do collar and elbow tie up only for Patera to be put in a front facelock. Pater grabs one of the tree trunks for legs of Andre's and tries to pick him up. Andre grabs his head and smashes his knee into Patera's face. Bobby Heenan is pacing back and forth Gorilla comments that The Brain looks worried. Andre is distracted by Heenan yelling at him. This gives Patera time to recover and he flies into Andre with a high knee that rocks the giant into the corner. Andre slumps down and this Patera the advantage he has been looking for as, he begins stomping and trying to choke the big man. Andre gets back to his feet and fists are flying both men tumble over the top rope. They are pounding on one another as the referee calls for the bell as both men have been counted out at 9:57.

Winner: Draw Double Countout Rating B-

 

The match is over but that's when Big John Studd comes down to ringside. Studd and Patera are attacking Andre beating him down when Hulk Hogan comes rushing down to ringside with a steel chair in hand. He hits Patera and barely misses Studd. They ran off as fast as they could. Hogan begins checking on Andre. Rating B-

 

WWF Intercontinental Title Match:

Tito Santana vs Greg Valentine ©

Santana starts the match hot taking the fight to Valentine. It looks like this was going to be the night that Santana takes back his title. Santana was on fire that was until Valentine finally turn the tables on him. Valentine slowed the match down grinding to a near halt. Pounding and punishing Santana into the mat. Santana finally makes his comeback the fans are cheering him on he backs Valentine into the ropes. Santana goes for his flying forearm smash, but Valentine falls down and Santana flies over the top rope. Valentine sits on the mat trying to recover while the ref counts out Santana who doesn't get to his feet, until the ref counts him out.

Winner: Greg Valentine by Countout Rating: C+

 

Hulk Hogan & Jimmy Snuka vs Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff

This was not a wrestling match, but a brawl from start to finish. The fans cheered every shot Hogan and Snuka hit on Piper or Orndorff. As the battle was nearing the end of the match, Hogan hit Orton and that provoked Orton to attack to Hogan as Piper distracted the ref. Piper came out of the ring and started brawling with Hogan. Snuka and Orndorff started beating each other in the ring. The Ref had no choice but to call the match, because he lost control.

Winner: No Decision Rating B

Always great to see you working the 80s again man, that supermarket segment had me laughing! Very 1980s WWF of you, because I could see them doing something like that. In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Nikolai Volkoff and The Moondogs defeated Junkyard Dog, George Wells and Jim Powers in 14:26 when Moondog Rex defeated Junkyard Dog by pinfall with a Running Elbow Drop. Rating C-

 

Brutus Beefcake vs S.D. Jones

In an extremely short match, Brutus Beefcake defeated S.D. Jones in 4:34 by pinfall with a High Knee. Rating D

 

U.S. Express w/ Lou Albano vs Rene Goulet & Charlie Fulton

In an extremely short match, The U.S. Express defeated Rene Goulet and Charlie Fulton in 4:59 when Barry Windham defeated Charlie Fulton by pinfall with a Flying Lariat. Rating D+

In a match that had some good action and average heat, The North-South Connection defeated Tony Garea and Jerry Brisco in 14:02 when Adrian Adonis defeated Tony Garea by submission with a Goodnight Irene. The North-South Connection make defence number 11 of their WWF World Tag Team titles. Rating C +

 

Jimmy Snuka & King Tonga vs Roddy Piper & Cowboy Bob Orton

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Cowboy Bob Orton and Roddy Piper defeated Jimmy Snuka and King Tonga in 14:04 when Cowboy Bob Orton defeated King Tonga by pinfall with a Superplex.Rating B

 

Andre the Giant & Blackjack Mulligan vs Big John Studd & Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan

In a match that had some good action and average heat, Big John Studd and Ken Patera drew with Andre The Giant and Blackjack Mulligan in 14:08 following a double disqualification.Rating B-

Saying tonight is a all star line up and every match could main event any match around the world. Two title matches will be held tonight. The young and hungry team the U.S. Express will challenge the WWF World Tag Team Champions The North-South Connection. Jesse says he expects the champions to send the Express back down the ladder. In the main event it will be Hulk Hogan defending the WWF World Heavyweight title against Playboy Buddy Rose. Jesse hopes The Playboy takes the title from that chump the Huckster here tonight. </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Hillbilly Jim vs Brutus Beefcake</span></strong></p><p>

This was a decent match Hillbilly Jim was improving his rumble skills in this match it looked if he was going to win it. It took to make one mistake and with a high knee Beefcake was able to get the win in 6:41.</p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Buddy Rose Interview</span></strong></p><p>

Lord Alfred Hayes is standing by with the challenger to the WWF World title here tonight The Playboy Buddy Rose. His Lordship asked Buddy if he could do want so many other wrestlers have failed to do and that is to beat Hulk Hogan here tonight for the WWF World Championship. Buddy Rose chuckles at Hayes before he speaks. Buddy says many wrestlers from around the world are coming into the World Wrestling Federation. Because of one reason they all know that right here in the WWF is the place to be. Stating he could be wrestling for several different promotions right now around the world, and be headlining at the top of the card. He came to the World Wrestling Federation and nowhere else, because he knows that the WWF is where men become legends. <strong>Rating C+ </strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">The Briscos vs The Hart Foundation w/ Mr.Fuji</span></strong></p><p>

The Hart Foundation has slowly been working their way up the ladder to get in contention for the World Tag Team titles. Taking down the legendary Briscos got them a step closer. Bret Hart got the pin for his team in 8:11 when he pinned Jerry Brisco. </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Blackjack Mulligan vs Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff</span></strong></p><p>

Mulligan maybe in time decline but it didn't show here as he did throw in a couple of wrestling moves. It was more of a brawl to be honest as both been battled back and forth. When Orndorff hit the piledriver it was over as he picks the win at 10:21.</p><p>

Mean Gene is conducting the interview, but he seems appalled by the champions who say their beat them two boys down into the mat. Murdoch then says he is going to hog tie that fat slob Albano and make him squeal like the fat pig that he is. <strong>Rating C</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Junkyard Dog vs Nikolai Volkoff w/ Freddie Blassie</span></strong></p><p>

The fans seemed into this match. Jesse pointed out this was looking a fine match up. As these two men traded blows and hit each other with power moves.The match ended when Blassie distracting the Dog as Volkoff rolled a JYD up and got the pin while grabbing a handful of tights in 10:22.</p><p>

Jesse tells Heenan he knows that these two men Ken Patera and Big John Studd are ready with Roddy Piper alongside them. When later tonight they face the big goof Andre, Jimmy Super awful Snuka, and Tony a few marbles short of full bag Atlas. Heenan says his men are ready to show them clowns what real men are all about. <strong>Rating B-</strong> </p><p> </p><p>

In the beginning of the match Windham and Adonis traded holds as it looked like this was going to become a wrestling clinic. That was until it broke down and all hell broke loose and all four men were battling each other in the ring. This looked more like a wild barroom brawl at the end of them match, as the ref had no choice but disqualify both teams. </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Piper's Pit with Roddy Piper and Mr. T</span></strong></p><p>

Roddy Piper brings out his guest for Piper's Pit tonight Mr.T who comes out and flexes his muscles and tells Piper feel this. Piper squeezes his head and says it is pretty soft. Mr.T looks angry and tells Piper he is going to snap him in two for running out his friends. Piper laughs you mean the chick with pink hair and the girl she managed? Well let me tell you something your disgrace to America young people look up to you and walking around with a retarded haircut and fifty pounds of fake gold around your neck. Let me tell you something I sent them packing and your going to be next. Piper and Mr. T get in each other faces and start talking crap it looks like their about to come to blows when Ace grabs Piper and officials come out standing in between the two men. Pier tells Ace to let him go, he won't do anything. He walks over T and smiles, Mr. T tells him Piper your fool and your dead meat. You Hear Me!!! Piper your dead man walking. Piper slaps Mr.T across the face and tells him anytime you want to bring it. Mr.T goes after Piper as the officials hold him back, and Piper heads for the door. <strong>Rating B+</strong> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Andre the Giant, Jimmy Snuka,& Tony Atlas vs Roddy Piper, Big John Studd, Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan</span></strong></p><p>

This a good match though it is little overshadowed by the events that happened a few minutes ago involving Roddy Piper. Vince and Jesse tells the fans Mr.T has been escorted out of the building so he cannot interfere in this match. This was brawl and it was hard for the ref to keep track who was legal men in the ring. The finish came when Heenan slipped Patera a foreign object and blasted Andre with it. As Patera was trying to hide the object the ref caught sight of it and disqualified Patera at 10:28.</p><p>

Playboy Buddy Rose tonight when you get that ring with me your going to be looking like a weeping willow tree man. I am not worried about any small change artist like you man. Because to get to the top you got to dedicate your life to training, saying your prayers, and eating your vitamins and just one look at you Rose you know nothing about that. <strong>Rating C+ </strong> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">WWF World Heavyweight Title Match</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">

The Playboy Buddy Rose vs Hulk Hogan</span></strong></p><p>

Many would have you believe this would be a easy match for Hulk, but it wasn't. Hogan started off strong taking the fight to Rose, and did look in the early part of the match Hogan would win easily. That's when Rose struck with a rake to Hogan's eyes and Rose quickly went on the offensive.Attacking Hogan punching him and sending him to the ground. Hogan was on the mat and Rose took his heel and did a twist right on Hogan's face. Hogan got up and you could see the pain on his face. Rose hit Hogan with a kneelift to the face, dropping Hogan down to the mat. Rose starts yelling at the fans telling them your going to witness history here tonight. Hogan gets back to his feet and he runs after Rose who ducks down and backflips Hogan down to the arena floor. You can see the agony in Hogan's face as he holds his back. He tries to get in the ring and is given stiff kicks by Rose and a few punches. Hogan then hits him with one of his own punches sending Rose back. Rose slams a double axe handle blows on Hogan's back and head sending him down to the mat. He keeps pounding until Hogan seems to begin to Hulk up. Punch after punch doesn't seem to faze Hogan. The fans begin cheering the Hulkster on as he begins punching back. He picks up and body slams Rose, then Irish whips into the ropes Hogan hits the big boot. Then Hogan bounces off the rope and hits the leg drop, Hogan goes for the pin 1,2, and 3 in 10:23. Hogan is given the title and he celebrates for the fans and they cheer him on. </p><p>

Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse Ventura welcomes us to the show. Gorilla says this is Where Men Become Legends. Jesse tells Gorilla hold on something is going on in the ring. Gorilla goes looks puzzled and says these guys are not suppose to be out here right now.

Piper, Orndorff, and Orton speak their minds

 

Piper stalks the ring with microphone in hand. Piper then speaks your looking at couple of guys that have never lost at anything in life. Mr.T this past Saturday night you came on my show and tried to start a fight with me. Piper walks around as the crowd begins booing. Let me tell you something boy. You walk around here calling yourself a Mahican well the last time I saw a indian he sure didn't look anything like you T. Orndorff grabs the mic the last time someone stood next to Hogan we broke his leg. So Mr. T you might be a big deal in Hollywood but if you step in the ring.. Your going to get hurt real bad. Bob Orton turn to speak, let me Hogan and Mr. T egos are out of control. Their so rampant up they don't see what is going on around them. They believe their hype. Orton had more to say but was stop by the Eye of the Tiger blaring over the loud speakers.

 

Fans are going crazy as Hulk Hogan and Mr.T hit the ring both walk around the ring as the crowd goes nuts. Piper, Orndorff, and Orton are standing in the ring with their backs in the ring telling them to come on inside. Hogan grabs a mic and waves his fingerback and forth saying NO!!!! We didn't come out here to fight. We came out to make a challenge this Saturday Night's Main Event I want Ace in the ring. Ace is shaking his head and saying Hogan is on for this Saturday night. Jesse and Gorilla says that should be great match. Mr.T gets the mic and tells Piper he is proud of his heritage and he pity's the fool that badmouths him and his heritage. So he has a challenge for Piper. He will put up his gold chains that symbolizes the chains that his ancestors wore as slaves against Piper if he loses their match, but Piper will have to have his head shaved in mohawk he loses. Piper goes nuts and starts rambling on saying Mr.T is on for this Saturday night. Rating A

 

Tito Santana & George Welles vs Brutus Beefcake & Greg Valentine

This was our opening match to the show, and carried the feud between Tito and Valrntine it was extremely short match as Valentine dropped the elbow on George Welles and got the win at 3:58.

Gene says that was impressive performance they had as a team against great competitors Tito Santana and George Welles. Valentine shakes his head and says they were no good losers and Santana was too stupid to stop chasing him for the title because he was never going to beat him. Beefcake jumped in and said they were dumb and dumber. Valentine said yeah I like that dumb and dumber. Rating C

 

Cowboy Bob Orton vs S.D. Jones

S.D. got a little bit of offense in on Orton but this was just a regular squash match. Orton hit a superplex and got the pin at 2:44.

Percy Pringle and Don Muraco Promo

Percy Pringle III debuts with his first client Don Muraco. Percy looked awful out their at least he has no negative chemistry with Muraco. Don says he is hearing rumors floating around that he isn't the man he use to be and soon he will prove the rumor makers into liars. As we topple the mountain that is looming over the WWF. Rating C-

 

Paul Roma vs Paul Orndorff

The battle of the Pauls was really a one sided affair as Orndorff dominated the match from opening bell. It only took Orndorff 0:37 to get the win after a piledriver.

Junkyard Dog

The Dog barks and howls telling Volkoff, The Iron Sheik, and Blassie they better watch out because him and Atlas are coming to take a bite out the hides of these three cowards. Rating: C-

 

Jim Powers vs Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan

Studd was impressive in this match as he destroyed Powers after a reverse bearhug making Powers submit at 1:31.

Barry Windham gets on the mic and says he is going to beat Patera 1,2,3 in the ring in front all these fans here tonight. Rating C-

 

Barry Windham w/ Lou Albano vs Ken Patera w/ Bobby Heenan

Windham and Patera are both good brawlers and this match was a brawl. Albano and Heenan both had fun in this match battling and arguing with each other. This match ended after Heenan accidentally hits Patera with a foreign object. Windham rolls him up in and gets the three count at 14:36.

Winner: Barry Windham Rating: C

 

Hart Foundation w/ Mr. Fuji

Mr.Fuji just laughs, Hart Foundation will be World Tag Team Champions. They are destined to be champions because I lead them to great heights. Rating C-

 

Rick McGraw & David Sammartino vs Hart Foundation w/ Mr.Fuji

This was another quick match, but Bret Hart seemed to really shine in this match as he pinned Sammartino in 3:35.

Buddy Rose Promo

Buddy Rose doesn't look happy as the interview with Vince starts. Vince asks him what happened on Saturday Night's Main Event where he proclaimed he was going to beat Hogan. Buddy looks in the camera and speaks telling the fans that he slipped and hurt his back. That's why Hogan was able to rob him of the victory this past Saturday. Rose wants a rematch with Hogan and he compels the WWF President to give him his title match. Rating C+

 

Hillbilly Jim vs Don Muraco w/ Percy Pringle

This was so far the match of the night and the second highest segment of the night so far. Muraco worked the leg of Hillbilly Jim's for most of the match. Jim looked good, but Muraco kept control of the match throughout he hit the reverse piledriver at 10:19 to get the win.

Winner: Don Muraco Rating: C+

 

Big John Studd w/ Bobby Heenan Promo

Heenan tells the humanoids that big dummy Andre was soon or later was going to fall to his Big John Studd. When they are finished with Andre they moving to topple Hulkamania once and for all. McMahon asks about what happened earlier in the night with Patera. Heenan tells them that him and Patera were on the same page and tht punk Windham got lucky tonight. Rating B

 

Andre the Giant & Junkyard Dog vs The Moondogs

Moondogs put up a good fight in this match,but Andre and the Dog worked together to win this match after Junkyard Dog hit the Thump to get the win at 10:14 on Moondog Rex.

Winners: Andre the Giant & Junkyard Dog Rating:C+

PWI NEWS & NOTES

 

Rumors are flying as the WWF roster seems to grow. Davey Boy Smith has left Stampede Wrestling where he was holding the North American title.He was also working in All-Japan and was co-holding All-Asia Tag Team titles with Dynamite Kid who has also left Stampede and All-Japan. If rumors are to believed they are set to debut in the WWF very soon as The British Bulldogs. The Midnight Express and their managerJim Cornette have left World Class and rumor has it they are headed to the WWF. Rick Rude has left Florida and headed north to New York City in the waiting arms of the WWF. Mid-South is not happy as The Rock and Roll Express has decided to pack their bags and try their hand in the WWF. The mammoth of a man known as King Kong Bundy is set to arrive back in America and setting his sights on the WWF.

Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura welcomes to the show. Saying that tonight is a big night here in the World Wrestling Federation. As we have three title matches scheduled right here at the famed Louisville Gardens. Cowboy The Ace Bob Orton will challenge the WWF World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan. Jesse chimes in and says the Huckster the big phony might have bitten off more and he can chew here tonight.

 

Plus some unfortunate news Mr.T plane has been delayed from Denver, Colorado so his match with Roddy Piper will not happen here tonight. I am being told we have the Hulkster standing by.

 

Hulk Hogan Promo

The Hulkster welcomes all of his millions of fans watching on tv and here at the Louisville Gardens to Saturday Night's Main Event were he is going to end Cowboy Bob Orton. Because unlike Orton he goes by the Hulkamanics three Commandments training, saying your prayers, and taking your vitamins. He says he has been on the phone with Mr.T and he is sorry to disappoint the fans here tonight Who was hoping see that scoundrel Roddy Piper get a mohawk here tonight. Rating B+

 

The Rock & Roll Express vs The Midnight Express w/Jim Cornette

The crowd booed the Midnight Express and Jim Cornette as they entered the ring first. Cornette grabs a microphone and introduces Loverboy Dennis Condrey and Beautiful Bobby Eaton the greatest tag team in professional wrestling today the Midnight Express. Rock and Roll is King blares over the house speakers and the crowd goes nuts as Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson the Rock"N" Roll Express come down to the ring. Vince and Jesse are shocked at the reaction of the Rock "N"Roll Express are getting from the crowd here in Louisville. Gibson and Eaton start first and this is a battle as both men try to get the upper hand. We see quick tags from both teams as their great chemistry is on full display in this match. Condrey and Eaton take charge of the match. Morton is being beaten down to the mat. As the pace has been slowed the fans are cheering on Morton trying to get him to make the tag. Condrey slams Morton to the ground and Eaton comes off the top rope with the Alabama Jam on a prone Morton. Only at the last second Morton rolls out of the way. He scrambles to his corner and tags Gibson for the hot tag. Gibson hits the ring like a house of fire taking out Eaton and then Condrey, Cornette jumps on the apron and gets a punch in the face for his troubles. The crowd is going insane Morton comes in and both Gibson and Morton hit a double dropkick on Eaton. Cornette runs in the ring and tries to Gibson with the tennis racket only to hit the ref Joey Marella who falls down holding his back. Morton tkes the racket and hits Eaton, Condrey, and Cornette with it, Marella singles for the bell. Howard Finkel annouces ovr the house speakers that the match has been ruled a no contest at 10:09.

Piper welcomes us to another episode of Piper's Pit and says his guest is none other than the man who later on tonight will be the new WWF World Champion, his best buddy and the greatest bodyguard a man could ever have Ace Bob Orton.Piper says that he heard that Mr. T plane wasn't delayed because of a snow storm has been blanketing Denver. Oh no Mr.T has went into hiding because he knew tonight he would lose every ounce of gold he is wearing, and if he lost that he wouldn't have nothing left to pawn at the pawn shops when he goes broke. Ace then begins talking the trouble with Hogan he always writes checks that his butt can't cash and tonight he is going to be on the losing end of the Main Event. Rating B+

 

Mr.T Phone Interview

Mr.T is on the phone with Vince and Jesse when the show comes back from commercial. Mr.T says he wants all his fans out there to know he is sorry he couldn't be there tonight for his scheduled match with Piper. Because he knows everyone wants to see that fool get his mouth shut by Mr.T and his head shaved. Mr.T goes on to say if God is willing though tonight he may have a little surprise for Piper right here tonight. Rating B

 

WWF Intercontinental Title Match

Vince says he has heard a lot of good things about the Dragon and it speaks volumes the talent that Steamboat is that his first match in the World Wrestling Federation will be a title shot against Intercontinental Champion Greg Valentine. The Hammer stares bullets through Steamboat as the bell rings. Steamboat and Valentine try to wrestle for control in the match. Steambot gets the upper hand and begins laying in chops to the chest of Valentine. This makes Valentine chest beet red and he scurries on the outside of the ring. Clearly showing his frustration by slapping the ring apron a couple of times. Valentine comes into the ring and takes control working on the arm with a nice armbar. Valentine starts throwing punches, but Steamboat blocks three straight punches and hits a couple of knife edge chops on Valentine, before hitting Valentine with a arm drag. Valentine gets up and Irish whips Steamboat into the rope. Valentine misses a back elbow and Steamboat hits a cross body. 1....2...and no Valentine gets a shoulder up. Jesse says Valentine is the champion for a reason. This becomes a shootout, a slugfest whatever you want to call it. These men were tiring and Steamboat looked like he was going to win. He body slams Valentine and then Steamboat climbs on to the top rope. Valentine gets up and Steamboat launches himself and it's the diving cross body, but Valentine uses Steamboat's momentum to roll over on top of Steamboat.

No Steamboat gets his shoulder up at the last fraction of a second. Greg Valentine looks up and shakes his head. He has a look what does he have to do to beat this man. Valentine drops Elbow on Steamboat, he gets back up and drops another Elbow. Valentine goes for the pin

And 3 No Valentine kicks out and Steamboat rolls out of the ring trying to catch his breath.

 

Valentine rolls out and begins hammering on Steamboat with Double Axe Handle blows. He throws Steamboat isn thrown in the ring and locks in the figure four Steamboat is screaming in pain as the bell rings. Vince says he didn't hear Steamboat say he gave up. Jesse says a course he did why would the match end. Howard Finkel gets the microphone and announces a time limit draw.

Winner: Time Limit Draw Rating: B-

Mike Rotundo and Adrian Adonis started the match out first and this was classic as both men traded holds with one another. The crowd was going crazy for every move Rotundo and Windham hit in this match, but soon Murdoch was able to slow the pace down. An was grinding the match down to s more methodical pace. Murdoch drops elbow and misses, he gets up and drops second elbow and misses. Rotundo makes t his corner for the tag. Windham comes in and he is cleaning house he launches Murdoch into the opposite rope comes hits a flying lariat. He scrambles for the pin.

From the very beginning of Hogan's music hitting the roar of the crowd was deafening. Orton takes the early advantage driving Hogan into the corner pounding Hogan with several elbows. Orton backs off it looks like he about to do something, when Hogan hits a clothesline from the corner. Orton scrambles to the outside trying to rethink his strategy. Orton tries to come in and Hogan begins punching Orton. Orton on the ground and Hogan drops three straight elbows across the prone body of Orton. Hogan begins to play to the ground and the fans begin booing in succession. As two of Hogan's enemies walk out to the ring in Rowdy Roddy Piper and Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff. They distract the ref as Orton comes up from behind Hogan and drops him with illegal low blow.

 

Orton takes the advantage and starts kicking Hogan several times. He picks Hogan up and the Hulkster nails Orton with few punches to the gut. It was enough to give Hogan some separation between them. Hogan hits the ropes and misses the big boot as Orton dodges out of the way. Orton hammers a clothesline on Hogan. Orton locks in the sleeperhold in the middle of the ring.

Hogan is fighting with all he got, but it seems Orton has him. The ref checks the arm 1....................2................................3..................Hogan's arm stays up and fights to get back to his feet. He drives several elbow shots to Orton's rib cage to get Orton break the hold. Hogan body slams Orton he runs for the ropes and he is tripped up by Orndorff. The ref calls for the bell because he saw Orndorff trip Hogan.

Winner Hulk Hogan by DQ Rating: B+

 

The match is over and Hogan is reaching for the belt when Orton him with a high knee in the back. Orndorff and Piper move in the ring and starts beating on a prone and helpless Hulkster. The fans were booing loudly screaming their hatred and then cheers erupted as Mr.T came running down the aisle with a steel chair in hi hand. As Mr.T slid in the ring the three vultures swarmed and they attack beating down Mr.T leaving Hogan all alone. Hogan comes to his senses and see's his friend laying on the mat. He picks up the chair and begins by hitting Orton with the chair who falls out of the ring. Orndorff and Piper escapes before Hogan can connect the chair with one of them. Hogan and Mr.T tells them get back in the ring since they have a equalizer in the chair. Rating: B+
