I've always tried to keep my write-ups detailed yet succinct. My mindset is always to get the point across and then go home. It's interesting to hear different opinions on that but it's something I'll definitely keep in mind for the future.

How come, if you don't mind me asking? And does anybody else agree with this?

Hiya Mootie,

Sounds good. You have a lot of readers and ranked highly in the DOTM so it would be silly to make any major changes. So I stick to minor comments on matchs and format. Sorry if that seems like nitpicking. For me center align doesn't look as good and is a bit harder to read. Personally, when picking between two options I compare them side by side and just pick the one I like best. In this care there is no wrong answer.:)

But Bad Luck Fale has other ideas, hopping up on the apron and sweeping Naito's left boot from under him. The 'Stardust Genius' takes a nasty tumble, crotching himself on the ropes. As he's bending forward trying to relieve the pain, Styles simply locks his hands around his waist, helping him down from that precarious position into an even more dangerous one... the Styles Clash connects and Bullet Club's main man covers to get back on track.

What Beejus said. Also you're about to coming up on G1 soon and I don't believe you want to write up that much info on non big matches unless something shocking happens (Honma Mania). I like the format as is but others might have different opinions. My only thinking is burn out because of all these matches. I mean NJPW has about five tourney a year. That has got to hurt the mind after sometime.

Honest Feedback : I love the write ups , just enough to keep me engaged but not too much to make me feel non-interested. It's a stark contrast to mine and it feels odd to enjoy this as much as I like writing 10 sentence write ups. Keep it up, your style is engrossing and I appreciate everything in this diary.

I may actually prefer that myself Miko. Hmm...

Yeah I was venting to MHero about this the other day actually. This tournament has took quite a fair bit out of me. Just arranging and booking a Round Robin tournament takes up a lot of time, especially since I want to do it right (table graphics, keeping the write-ups detailed and then deciding winners and losers to tell the right stories).

It's fair to say I'm not that excited about doing the G1 yet.

Comments like these are the reason I enjoy writing it so much. Thank you for that :)

This is some amazing stuff. I recently got back into pro-wrestling after a long hiatus, and NJPW is the only product I watch now. I downloaded my first TEW game since 2008 to start a NJPW dynasty, but you have set the bar way too high. I'm going back to the drawing board, but might figure out something with a take on NJPW of my own. It would start with Power Struggle, and my roster would be considerably different (no Suzuki-gun and none of the other new talent you have).

I am extremely impressed with the graphics and format, and I might have to copy some of your ideas no matter who I play with. Keep up the good work and know you just gained another reader!

First off, welcome aboard! Thank you for the kind words, I'm a tad flattered to be honest but always happy to hear people are enjoying my work.

With regards starting your own diary: go for it! I'd love to see somebody else's take on it. I've found that New Japan is so open to interpretation, you can do really wacky things like making CM Punk the leader of Bullet Club or World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito and nobody bats an eyelid. :p

P.S. BOSJ Day Four will be up tomorrow.

Wow, I was running an "e-fed" in Fire Pro Returns for PS3 and I had that exact same idea about Punk. Great minds think alike! Thanks for the blessing, I will get everything going tonight. Hopefully the competition pushes us both to the top of our game.

Block B

El Desperado (2) vs. Zack Sabre Jr. (2)

After back-to-back defeats, Sabre Jr. needed to get back on track here. Against Desperado, he had an opponent he could safely out-wrestle and it was a classy performance from the Englishman throughout. He tied the Suzuki-gun member in knots until eventually, Despy got frustrated of being humiliated and bailed to the outside to grab a steel chair. Although referee Marty Asami forcefully tried to take it from him, Desperado shoved him to the canvas and gave Sabre Jr. a hiding to remember. Asami called for the bell, and with it, disqualified El Desperado. After several stiff shots to the back, Despy dropped the chair and bailed to the back in the strop as Sabre Jr. was left writhing in pain.

Block A

Yohei Komatsu (0) vs. Jay Lethal (2)

After a massive victory over Ricochet yesterday, Lethal was clearly in good spirits: he sported a feces-eating grin as he made his way down the ramp. Komatsu has more heart than most competitors, let alone the young lions - but he has none of the skills that Lethal has. Keeping a step ahead is Lethal's game plan, every time Komatsu tries to get something going, Lethal has a counter just around the corner. As Komatsu attempts a Falcon Arrow, Lethal slips out the back door and by the time Komatsu has turned around, Lethal has already done his handspring and connects clean with the Lethal Injection to pick up the victory.

Block B

Bobby Fish (2) vs. Mascara Dorada (4)

Fish has a point to prove after a rather mixed start. Dorada, on the other hand, has racked up two back-to-back victories in the last two days. He was systemically cut down to size tonight as Fish grounded him and made him work extremely hard just to get back to a vertical base. Dorada had some success once he started hitting his patented high-flying moves, but mounting another comeback after finding himself locked in a Heel Hook proved to be a step too far and he had no choice but to submit the two points.

Block A

TAKA Michinoku (2) vs. Tiger Mask IV (2)

Michinoku has found himself in a rather unique position as something of the tournament MVP after very good matches with Eita, Ricochet and Nakajima. Just like Tiger Mask though, his record doesn't make for impressive reading (one win, two defeats). Naturally, these two are very familiar with each other after many battles over the years and it's no surprise that the finish came off a counter. TAKA poked Tiger Mask in the eye as he was trying to set up a Tiger Suplex and then pulled his mask over his eyes as he rolled the legend up with an Inside Cradle. Needless to say, he picked up the most dishonourable victory one could imagine.

Block B

Ryusuke Taguchi (4) vs. Rocky Romero (4)

The winner of this match could end up sitting top of the group come the end of the night. Due to the fairly high stakes, this match ended up being even stevens and very back and forth all the way throughout. The difference maker was the relative risk levels of both men's signature finishing moves: Romero escaped the Dodon, but Taguchi's counter to the Foreign Devil was to simply roll out the way. Taguchi quickly bought him back to his feet and took him out with the Dodon's Throne for the victory.

Six Man Tag Team Match

Kazushi Sakuraba, Toru Yano & YOSHI-HASHI vs. Suzuki-gun (Lance Archer, Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Shelton X Benjamin)

Yano and YOSHI-HASHI had the privilege of tagging, and winning, alongside Kazuchika Okada last night. But tonight... they're tagging with on-and-off CHAOS bedfellow Kazushi Sakuraba. Killer Elite Squad have won four matches in a row, spanning back to the last two days of the Wrestling Dontaku tour. They've been running rough shot lately and they pick up exactly where they left off tonight. Despite Saku and Yoshi's best efforts, Yano's tomfoolery does them no favours and he falls to the Killer Bomb as K.E.S. make it five victories on the bounce.

Block A

Alex Shelley (6) vs. Kyle O'Reilly (2)

Shelley might have a perfect record, but tonight he has the struggle of dealing with the sheer physicality of his opponent. O'Reilly gradually grinds him down with stiff kicks and submissions as he works over the right arm. Although Shelley does gather a second wind, his attempted Air Raid Crash was countered as O'Reilly tugged on the already-weakened right arm. Shelley crumbled to his knees as O'Reilly transitioned into the Cross Armbreaker and the pain was sharp enough to force Alex Shelley to submit.

Block B

Jushin Thunder Liger (6) vs. Sho Tanaka (0)

This is an odd place on the card for young lion Sho but he deals with the pressure very well. Knowing that he could very well upset a slightly fatigued Liger, Tanaka fights with all his heart. He nearly finds a Kimura Lock, only for Liger to scramble to the bottom rope in time to force a break. He covers after a Snap Suplex but Liger kicks out at two. The fans are on the edge of their seat every time the young lion edges to victory but he falls short of the mark after a Lou Thesz Press has him down for the three.

Block A

Eita (4) vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima (4)

as soon as the bell rung, Nakajima made a fast start and was all over Eita with his signature fast strikes. The Dragon Gate representative spent the majority of the match on the back foot, only mounting offence when he could find a counter. Nakajima would then force his way back into the ascendancy each and every time, it was thanks to the sheer force of his brutal kicks. Eita would throw a forearm only to be down doubling over as he tried to shut out the pain. Nakajima failed to really capitalise on this advantage though and was tiring as he continually had to keep shutting Eita down. From here, the Millenial was able to rally back. After a picture-perfect Missile Dropkick, he slammed the already-dazed Nakajima into the canvas with a Crucifix Driver and held on to the proceeding pin just long enough to sneak a win.

Block B

KUSHIDA (4) vs. U-T (2)

From one Millenial to another, one could argue that young U-T's task was far more daunting. His lack of seasoning showed as KUSHIDA completely out-wrestled him for most of the match. The only real success the youngster found was when he was on a vertical base and moving very quickly, but even then he was susceptible to counters and KUSHIDA found it easy to ground him and take control again. It was only a matter of time before KUSHIDA found the Hoverboard Lock and with it, the valuable two points.

Block A

Ricochet (4) vs. Cavernario (4)

Our featured match of the evening was well-placed on the card. Cavernario's early efforts to try and ground Ricochet completely fail as 'Future Of Flight' more than matches the Rudo on the mat and resoundingly trumps him with high-impact moves and a startling display of athleticism. Both of these men are known for their dangerous wrestling styles and this was compounded when Ricochet delivered a Tope Con Hilo over the turnbuckle corner (!), wiping Cavernario (and himself) out against the guard rail. The Mexican's response is to deliver much of the same, he delivers a suicide dive that sends Ricochet backwards into the aforementioned guard rail with such force that he falls over it and into the crowd. Not one to be outdone, Ricochet wrestles back control of the match, just to take Cavernario out on the outside with a Corkscrew Plancha.

The action returns the ring shortly after and Cavernario nearly manages to find the La Cavernaria after ducking a Spin Kick... but Ricochet manages to get to the ropes before the Surfboard can be locked on. The Rudo wildman looks lost for ideas as Ricochet slips his way out of a Crucifix Powerbomb before hitting a Diving Double Knee Drop (!) to his standing opponent. Cavernario shows resilience in kicking out of that but Ricochet puts this spotfest to bed with a 630 Senton Splash shortly after.

Eight Man Tag Team Match

Satoshi Kojima, Naomichi Marufuji, Katsuyori Shibata & Hirooki Goto vs. Bullet Club (AJ Styles, Bad Luck Fale, Karl Anderson & Yujiro Takahashi)

After some a tenuous early feeling out process that saw plenty of good back and forth action, Karl Anderson pulled Marufuji over to the 'Biz Cliz' side of the ring as his good brothers kept Kojima, Shibata and Goto occupied. This smart strategy allowed them to cut off the ring and keep their smallest opponent firmly in their grasp. Although Marufuji has as good a strike game as anybody, he simply can't deliver them with the force that his partners can - probably those smaller less muscular legs of his. The Bullet Club took turns mocking the newcomer: Styles claimed that he 'weren't no Ace here', similarily Karl Anderson told him that this was where the Big Boys play. Fale said nothing and Yujiro said something in Japanese before turning his back to Marufuji to taunt. This proved to be a mistake, much to the disappointment of Styles and Anderson (Fale had no reaction), Marufuji made the hot tag to Katsuyori Shibata. From here, this match was only going one way. Bullet Club had let it slip and despite their best efforts, they were simply overwhelmed by the power of their opponents and Marufuji took revenge to seal the victory courtesy of a Shiranui to Yujiro Takahashi.

Post-match, Shibata hastily departs as always. The 'Biz Cliz' leave and are seen arguing amongst themselves - well Styles and Anderson are, Fale just lumbers behind them and Yujiro probably has no clue what is being said. Marufuji, Kojima and Goto stick around and thank the fans in Sendai for their support tonight. Marufuji claims that after getting a measure of revenge at Wrestling Dontaku, he's looking towards the Championships now. In particular, he says he would be excited to step in the ring with Shinsuke Nakamura again. Goto thanks the fans for always supporting him, even though he's fallen short of the big one far too many times, he takes solace in knowing that his fans always support his journey. He says he's gearing up for the G1 Climax already and he thinks that tag success was the much-needed catalyst that both him and Shibata needed. But for now, he's looking to Dominion and Meiyu Tag will take on all comers.

Best Of The Super Juniors Day Five

May 31st, 2015

Shinsuke Nakamura arrives on tour! He will tag with Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano to take on a trio comprised of three tough competitors: Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Manabu Nakanishi and young lion Watanabe. BUSHI returns from Mexico for one night only to assist Yuji Nagata in taking down the CHAOS team of YOSHI-HASHI and Jado.

In Super Junior action, Alex Shelley and Ricochet clash in a Block A crunch match for top spot. Elsewhere, Eita and KUSHIDA look to keep their chances of making the final alive when they face the determined young lions Yohei Komatsu and Sho Tanaka. Liger's perfect record is on the line when he faces the always unpredictable Mascara Dorada.

Just spent some time reading up to this point and this is really well done work. You capture the spirit and booking style of NJPW quite nicely, I'm a fan. Obviously I'm a...bit late, but I'll jump into the predictions from here on out.
