Randy Orton - Evolution isn't dropping any gold just yet.

Dudley Boyz - Heel miscommunication is like a Dudley specialty.

Lita

Kane - Whiny Goldberg goes down.

Shawn Michaels - Pick up that last shred of momentum before the title match.

Week 4 January 2004

The crowd is absolutely electric in the American Bank Center as we send Shawn Michaels out for the show-opening promo. With just one week left before the Royal Rumble, we know we have to really sell the show hard tonight, and Shawn does a great job of that. He says that this Sunday, the score between Triple H and himself will finally be settled. He says it's spanned nearly twenty years now, making it sound as if the two have always hated each other, but in just six nights, it all ends with a ten count. Michaels reminds people of the rules of a Last Man Standing match, and we show a video package with some of the most brutal moments from the history of the match. As soon as the video package is over, though

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/TripleHWorld.jpg

Triple H comes out on the stage. He's smirking as he looks down the ramp at Shawn, in spite of not having Evolution by his side. He tells Shawn that what we just saw is nothing compared to what "The Game" plans to do to his former best friend this Sunday. Michaels invites Triple H into the ring to prove it, but Triple H just shakes his head, saying that Shawn will have to wait on Sunday for the ass-kicking of a lifetime.

Intercontinental Championship

RVD vs Randy Orton © w/ Ric Flair

Dad is incredibly high on Randy Orton, and it's clear why in this match, as he more than holds his own in there against the veteran RVD. Van Dam lays Orton out with a kick to the head, follows that up with Rolling Thunder, and then hops to the top rope for a Five-Star Frog Splash, but Ric Flair gets involved by pulling his foot. RVD kicks Flair off the apron, but Randy Orton takes advantage by grabbing RVD and hitting an elevated RKO from the top rope to pick up the win.

Match Grade: B

Orton wastes no time in demanding a microphone after the match is over. He says that he embarrassed RVD tonight, he embarrassed Mick Foley and sent him packing out of the WWE, and he'll embarrass 29 other guys this Sunday before going on to win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania in the first-ever Evolution-only main event in Wrestlemania history.

Chris Jericho and Christian come down to the ring and cut a promo about how they plan to win the Royal Rumble. Both of them claim that they're going to win, in spite of the fact that only one of them will be able to win the match. They also say that they're the best tag team of all time, which brings out

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/D-Von.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Bubba.jpg

The Dudley Boyz come out to dispute this claim and, as usual, we tell Bubba to do most of the talking. He does as requested, and tells Christian and Jericho that they will never be half the team that The Dudley Boyz are. Jericho invites the 'ass-clowns' into the ring to find out, and Bubba and D-Von waste no time in accepting the challenge.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Jericho.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Christian.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSRaw.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/D-Von.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Bubba.jpg

Chris Jericho and Christian vs The Dudley Boyz

Jericho and Christian are great at working the cheap tactics that are reminiscent of old school tag teams, and Dad says we need to find them a manager to get even more cheap heat on them. I think that they're doing pretty well for themselves, though, as they manage to get a believable amount of offense in on The Dudleyz. In the end, though, the Jericho/Christian miscommunication costs them as Christian blind tags himself in, only to be hit with the 3-D and pinned.

Match Grade: B+

Jazz vs Lita

There's no secret that this match was made to put Lita over heading into the Women's Title match at Royal Rumble, as Jazz gets in a fair bit of offense, but never looks really poised to win the match until Lita hits a Moonsault on her and picks up the win.

Match Grade: C

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/MollyHollyWomen.jpg

Women's Champion Molly Holly comes down to the ring with a microphone, dressing down her challenger for this Sunday. Molly says that Lita may have two victories over Molly Holly in tag matches, but tag matches mean nothing when they meet in the ring one-on-one. Lita starts to reply, but by the time she gets out "oh yeah? Well," she's hit in the face by the Women's Championship. Molly stands tall above her challenger to make people wonder her odds heading into the title defense this Sunday.

We air a video of last week's events between Kane and Goldberg which leads to the next match.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Kane.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSRaw.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Goldberg.jpg

Hardcore Match

Kane vs Goldberg

We gave these two permission to go out and do whatever they wanted, which may have been a mistake for Goldberg, with respect to his recent attitude problems. It makes for a hell of a fight, though, as both men turn the intensity up to 11. They hit each other with just about everything that isn't nailed down, and Kane is even busted open. Goldberg goes for a Spear, but gets caught by the throat. Kane lifts him for a Chokeslam and slams him down onto a steel chair, picking up the victory.

Match Grade: B

We air a video package for the Triple H/Shawn Michaels storyline thus far, hyping the main event for the Royal Rumble before the main event for RAW.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/RicFlairWorldTag.jpghttp://rs1004.pbsrc.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/BatistaWorldTag.jpg~c100http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSRaw.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/HBK.jpg

Ric Flair w/ Batista vs Shawn Michaels

These two are widely regarded as two of the best wrestlers of all time, so it made sense to put them in the main event here to try and spike some ratings. They delivered, for sure, and it's clear that Flair, even though he's lost a step or two along the way, is still able to work on a high level with Michaels. He distracts the referee and allows Batista to come in and hit a Spear on Michaels, who kicks out of Flair's pin at 2. When "The Nature Boy" tries for the Figure Four, Shawn kicks him away, recovering in time to hit Sweet Chin Music on Flair and pinning him for the victory.

Match Grade: B+

Batista assaults Michaels as soon as the bell rings, doing what he does best by looking big, intimidating, and strong. He and Flair beat Michaels down mercilessly, until

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/D-Von.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Bubba.jpg

The Dudley Boyz come down to make the save! They brawl with their Royal Rumble opponents until

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/RandyOrtonIC.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/TripleHWorld.jpg

the rest of Evolution comes down to the ring to help their teammates. Triple H directs traffic as the rest of his group dissect The Dudley Boyz, eventually sending them from the ring. With The Dudleyz disposed of, Triple H has Batista hit the Batista Bomb on Shawn Michaels. Orton follows that up with an RKO, then finally Triple H lays his Royal Rumble opponent out with a Pedigree. Evolution stands tall, holding all of the RAW gold high in the air to end the show and hype Royal Rumble, coming to you in just six days!

Week 4 January 2004

http://rs1004.pbsrc.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Cole.jpg~c100http://rs1004.pbsrc.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Tazz.jpg~c100

Commentary: Michael Cole and Tazz

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Heyman.jpg

Smackdown starts on the face of General Manager Paul Heyman. We have Heyman set up the main event for tonight, where he says that he's been touched by the friendship shown between Hardcore Holly and Chris Benoit over the past couple of weeks. He then says that he's going to put that to the test tonight in our main event, as they face off, with only the winner getting to keep their Royal Rumble stipulation. If Holly wins, he'll still be facing Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship, but if he loses, he will have no match. If Chris Benoit wins, he'll get to enter the Royal Rumble at number 30, but if he loses, he'll enter number 1. This promo really puts Heyman over as the evil General Manager that we know he can be.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Gunn.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSSD.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/BigShowUS.jpg

Billy Gunn vs The Big Show

Big Show has been feuding with John Cena lately, and it's pretty obvious by that fact that he's not going to lose to Billy Gunn here in this opening match. Gunn still gets in some offense, but Show pretty much steamrolls through him to pick up the win.

Match Grade: B-

Big Show cuts a promo on John Cena after the match, saying that the same thing that just happened to Billy Gunn will happen to Cena, if he's stupid enough to try and get in the ring with him again.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Cena.jpg

John proves that he is stupid enough to get into the ring with Show again, as he slides into the squared circle behind the United States Champion, spinning him around and lifting him on his shoulders for the F-U. Cena is strong, but not quite strong enough to hold up Show, or so we have people believing, as Cena collapses under Show's weight, allowing the giant to hit him with a Chokeslam.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Simmons.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Bradshaw.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSSD.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Benjamin.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Haas.jpg

APA vs World's Greatest Tag Team

This tag team action seemed to be a foregone conclusion, as the APA has been having problems lately, while Haas and Benjamin have been the well-oiled team they're known to be. The APA is a veteran team though and, in spite of getting beaten on by the younger team for a large portion of the match, Bradshaw is able to hit Charlie Haas with a surprise Clothesline From Hell to pick up the win.

Match Grade: C+

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Hardcore.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/ChrisBenoit.jpg

Backstage, Chris Benoit approaches Hardcore Holly in the locker room. Benoit tells Holly that they both know what Heyman is doing to them, and it just may work. Benoit says he's not going to give up his number thirty spot in the Royal Rumble, no matter how close of friends they've become. Holly says he wouldn't have it any other way, and that he won't give up the WWE Championship shot, either. They end it with Holly telling Benoit he'll see him at Wrestlemania. We know neither of these guys is exactly a promo guy, so we kept this short, but needed to put over how determined they are.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Rhyno.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSSD.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Rikishi.jpg

Rikishi vs Rhyno

With both of these guys taking part in the Royal Rumble match, we realized that neither one really has any direction going into it, and decided to put them out there and see what they can do just days before the big match. Both men show off their unique offense, but in the end, it's Rhyno that picks up the win with a Gore.

Match Grade: C-

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/PaulLondon.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSSD.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Tajiri.jpg

Paul London vs Tajiri

Another stop on the Tajiri road to the Royal Rumble, and another poison misting. Not much else to say about this one, really, as it was just a way to remind the fans of what he did to Rey Mysterio heading into their Royal Rumble match.

Match Grade: C

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/ReyMysterioCruiser.jpg

As Tajiri stands above London, Rey Mysterio comes out on the stage. He tells Tajiri that his eyes are fully recovered, and he's been medically cleared to compete at the Royal Rumble.

_____¬¬¬¬¬_____¬¬¬¬¬_____¬¬¬¬¬_____¬¬¬¬¬_____

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Angle.jpg

Kurt Angle is interviewed backstage about how he feels heading into the Guerrero vs Guerrero match at Royal Rumble, where he'll be the special guest referee. Kurt promises to call the match right down the middle, in spite of what happens tonight in his match against Eddie Guerrero.

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Angle.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSSD.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/EddieG.jpg

Kurt Angle vs Eddie Guerrero

While these two guys are both high on mine and dad's lists of people to potentially put the title on next, and a match was even considered between the two for Wrestlemania, this match put the nail in the coffin of that idea. They have no chemistry together whatsoever, and what should have been a classic match was simply okay. The finish came when

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Chavo.jpg

Chavo Guerrero came down to the ring when the referee was knocked out. He tried to hit his uncle in the head with a steel chair, but Eddie ducked and instead Chavo blasted Kurt in the face with the object. Eddie dropkicks the chair into the face of his nephew, sending him from the ring before hitting a Frog Splash to Kurt to pick up the victory.

Match Grade: C+

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/ChrisBenoit.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/VSSD.jpghttp://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/Hardcore.jpg

Royal Rumble Stipulations On The Line

Chris Benoit vs Hardcore Holly

We told these two to really work each other stiff, and obviously neither of them has a problem in doing so. There must have been over a hundred chops traded between the two of them, and each man's chest is red as a beet by the end of the match. We even let them kick out of each other's finishes, to make sure that the fans really got invested in the intensity of the match. In the end, though,

http://i1004.photobucket.com/albums/af162/frootloop18/Coming%20Storm/BrockLesnarWWE.jpg

the WWE Champion makes his presence known in this match. He hits the ring and ambushes Hardcore Holly, ensuring that Hardcore gets his WWE Championship match, while Chris Benoit has to enter the Royal Rumble at number 1.

Match Grade: B-

Holly battles back against the Lesnar assault, sending Brock from the ring. The fight isn't over, though, as Hardcore chases the champion from the ring and the two brawl more on the outside. Referees, security, and anybody we can find in the back is sent out to try and pull the two men apart, with Michael Cole wondering how the referee in their title match this Sunday will be able to keep them in line as a way to sell the event at the last second.
