Fix for Runtime error 339 (involving ovsCombo2D.ocx)

Anyone see this before or have a solution to

 

runtime error 339 "component 'ovsCombo2D.ocx' or one of its dependencies not registered: missing file or invalid"

Just download it, unzip it and put it in your C:\Windows\System32 folder. Then, run "cmd" to bring up your command line. Type cd "c:\Windows\system32" at the command prompt. Finally, type regsvr32 ovsCombo2D.ocx

 

You should get a message that it registered properly.

Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.

Right-click on Command Prompt, select Run As Administrator, and authenticate.

 

Then the regsvr32 ovsCombo2D.ocx registered.

Try to reinstall the full install and then reboot. That tends to work.

Getting the Runtime error 339 in Windows 10 64bit.Installed the .ocx file in system32 and did the regsrv32 thing. Got the message that it failed to load. The specified module could not be found.

How do I do the "Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.

 

Right-click on Command Prompt, select Run As Administrator, and authenticate" in Windows 10? Is authenticate doing the regsvr32 exercise? Still didn't work. Not found.

<p>This is happening in the default install from Steam using Windows 7. I have tried everything to get this to work, and nada.</p><p> </p><p>

I've reinstalled the game, no mods, and restarted. Same error.</p><p> </p><p>

I've tried running in admin mode. Same error.</p><p> </p><p>

Can we somehow get this to work? I have others who are trying to get into our league with the exact same issue.</p><p> </p><p>

I was able to fix this by placing the file above in the GAME directory itself. Worked fine after that.

I'm doing this, including Mike's fix of putting the file in the game directory. I'm still getting the 0x80004005 error. Any suggestions?

<p>OK, so very specifically, when I try to run the regsvr32 command within the BBCF directory, I get the message "The module ovsCombo2D.ocx was loaded but the call to Dllregisterserver failed with the error code 0x80004005".</p><p> </p><p>

When I run the regsvr32 command within the System32 folder, I get "The module ovsCombo2D.ocx failed to load".</p><p> </p><p>

When I run BBCF I get this:</p><p> </p><p>

Make sure you do the regsvr32 command with administrator permissions. If you aren't an admin, you will get that module error. Another option is to try and re-run the setup.exe and make sure you click "run in administrator mode" before you start it.

<p>If this is still a lingering issue, there's a folder named BBCF with "BBCF Components" exe file in it. Run it and download them. Should fix the issue. </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I fixed it after following the advice in this thread, in short the dependencies are missing in Windows 10:

Finding the dependencies may not be trivial.
