The time being 11:42 at night, and in a few minutes the new year will strike. Five years removed from leaving the wrestling business and now i'm reflecting on the last year of myself not being involved in pro wrestling. With the new year being so close to here, it's left me to wonder if this is the right decision. The more and more I think about it, the more and more I know it is. I miss it, honestly. I miss the crazy nights sitting up for more than twenty four hours trying to get the show ready, trying to perfect it. That daily grind to be the very best, and for nearly eight years I did it. We did it. 2001 will always be the year I remember as my dream dying, but 2011? That's the year my dream gets a second chance. I know the mistakes I made, and now with this second chance I won't let it happen again. This is my last chance to change the business. This is my last chance to spark a revolution. This is my last chance to take things... to the extreme.

Tomorrow the news will break, the wrestling world will get turned on it's head. I know The Observer will probably title the headline something along the lines of, "Paul Heyman Buys Out Small Company", but small isn't the term i'd use. Sure it's not your Ring of Honor, sure it's not your Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, hell I know it's no World Wrestling Entertainment, but what it is-is potential. I already have my flight booked, January 6th I step into the office. January 6th marks the day, I, Paul Heyman take over the Combat Zone. So it begins, the newest chapter in my life. So it begins, the new revolution to professional wrestling. It won't be easy, but I know within two years, I can change the world.

I don't really need a full match write up. I also think it depends on the match. A throwaway jobber match doesn't need much more than the ending. For main events especially I'd rather tell the "story" of the match if that makes sense. "Rip Chord knew Liberty had the power advantage so he kept the match on the mat slower the bigger man down." etc.

For me personally, it depends on the match. Not only the level, but the purpose of it.

If it's literally a squash match, or a filler match to get guys air time or the purpose of the match is to set up a post-match angle or something, then it'll only get a few lines.

If a filler match gets an unexpectedly good rating, I'll make more of an effort, if a more important match ends up sucking, I'll give it less of a writeup accordingly.

Squash matches and uninspired filler normally get barely more than the default TEW match output (though in my own words, not copied verbatim).

Main events usually get two decent sized paragraphs, though TV main events might not if the focus is on a post-match angle.

Generally I spend the vast majority of my time writing the angles. The matches - for me at least - are more of a necessary chore than fun.

Thanks for the responses. That's what taking me so long to get my ppv up. I have the angles written, but the matches are incredibly difficult (and not much fun) to write. I finish a match, then read through it and what I though was a good match (description wise) winds up sucking.

I think I'll go the way of wrap ups. Just hit the key spots to drive home the point of the match.

LION's Pride

While we at LION always strive to bring you the hottest talents from around the world, we are equally proud of our home-grown talent. The following are the British (and British-based) wrestlers you can look forward to seeing at most LION events.

At first glance, Jonni Lowlife might not look like much, and it's true that he's unbearably cocky, but many wrestlers have underestimated him and paid the price. Lowlife has proven just as adept at getting under his opponents skin as he has that of the fans.A clinical technician, both well-rounded and well-traveled, Barry learned the ropes on the British wrestling scene in the early 90s, but is perhaps better known for the decade he spent in Japan with Golden Canvas Grappling. He's also wrestled in America and across Europe, but has now headed home to be part of Pro Wrestling LION.As old-school as they come, Walter Morgan has been around the British wrestling scene for over 20 years. Now semi-retired and a trainer at the Ring of Fire dojo, Walter still wrestles now and again to show the younger generation how it's done, and make no mistake, he's still a dangerous opponent.A policeman by trade, Keith Adams is nonetheless an accomplished wrestler and was a star of the Ring of Fire. For the last decade, Keith has been concentrating on his career with the Metropolitan Police, but LION are proud to announce that he will be competing on occasional LION shows in the forthcoming months. As his nickname suggests, Glen Ward is a fiery individual, known for his judo background. His trips and throws are his preferred method of dealing with foes, but over his decade-long career he has become a very well rounded wrestler capable of taking on any challenge.

Currently Ultimate European Wrestling's World Champion, Joey Beauchamp is looking to come back to the UK and dominate LION just as much as he has in Europe. Something tells me a few of our boys just might have something to say about that.

We're thrilled to have him here at Pro Wrestling LION.Ray is a rare American practitioner of the Japanese influenced 'puroresu' style of fighting. He's struggled to get noticed in his American homeland, and has welcomed the opportunity to come to LION and show everyone what he's capable of.A product of the world-famous Pride Glory Honor Wrestling dojo in Japan, Satou has come to Europe on excursion in order to gain experience, and is looking forward to being put through his paces by the wrestlers here in LION.Trained by HINOTE Dojo while they were still under the umbrella of the mighty Burning Hammer of the Wrestling Gods promotion in Japan, Tanaka is a young up-and-coming junior wrestler. As with his countryman Satou, Tanaka has come to Europe on an excursion, and will also be working for our friends at Ultimate European Wrestling over on the continent.

And, lo, the man who believed himself a lion returned to the land he once called home. He looked out over his kingdom and was not satiated with the dominance of the savanna. He hungered for more. The Lord of the neighboring land knew the lion's nature and anticipated his every movement. But, the Lord was not alone. High in the mountains, the goat hoarded his meaningless trinkets and stomped around in the snow, hoping to bring about an avalanche that would bury them all. The Lord sent word across the great land to an old friend, a man whom long ago he served beside. For years, the two men had come to an agreement of mutual respect, to not engage in brutality against one another. The arrival of the lion did nothing to change that.

Then, one morning, a squire approached the Lord.

"Lord," he said, "the lion has offered me a place in his kingdom and I wish to accept."

The Lord chuckled and responded, "Yes, but do you wish to be a squire your entire life. The lion will not allow you to grow stronger for fear of losing his kingdom. Stay with me and I shall make you a knight. Perhaps, in time, you shall replace me as Lord, when I go to meet the heavens."

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Petey%20Barnes_zpsbzeywvs1.jpg

Wait. I'm confused. I'm the lion?

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Byron_zpsh783frlq.jpg

*sigh*

No, Tommy Cornell is the lion. I'm the Lord. You are the squire.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Petey%20Barnes_zpsbzeywvs1.jpg

Ohhhhhhh.

No, I'm still confused. Are you gonna knight me? Is there a sword?

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Byron_zpsh783frlq.jpg

There's no sword! God, mate, you're thick. If you turn down that contract with Cornell, I'll give you the book.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Petey%20Barnes_zpsbzeywvs1.jpg

What book? I hope it's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Byron_zpsh783frlq.jpg

The booking job, Petey. You'll be my second in command. Put together the card, etc.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Petey%20Barnes_zpsbzeywvs1.jpg

So there's no sword? Or a copy of Harry Potter? I dunno.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Byron_zpsh783frlq.jpg

Very well. I'll provide you a sword and the entire Harry Potter collection.

http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/EWA%20Dynasty/Petey%20Barnes_zpsbzeywvs1.jpg

Mate, you've got yourself a deal.
