There’d been talk of an influx of new faces, but at the same time the suits who controlled things had been talking about the need to make cuts.
The year is 1998. Wrestling may be on the cusp of the biggest boom period in its history in America, as two companies vie for supremacy while a third becomes increasingly more relevant as it fights to stay alive.

http://www.nndb.com/people/682/000024610/vincemcmahon-sized.jpg

For Vince McMahon's World Wrestling Federation, it is a matter of tradition and survival. Years of being on top have been eroded under the constant assault from World Championship Wrestling, to the point where the WWF appears to be near it's last legs. Having controversially sent off its longtime centerpiece and figurehead to its chief rival in the wake of a screwjob, and suffering under a sixty plus week winning streak in the all important Monday Night Ratings...Vince is running out of time and ideas.

Yet, hope springs eternal. The crowds have gotten behind the biggest new star they've generated in years in rabble-rousing Stone Cold Steve Austin, and as the new year turns, a new concentration on adult-oriented product may be just what the doctor ordered to keep the WWF afloat, and maybe even sink the aspirations of its rival.

http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Images/Cards/Wrestling/67170/67170-50Fr.jpg

For Eric Bischoff, executive producer of WCW, the field appears to be barren before him. Months of domination have culminated in the successful conclusion of argubaly the greatest built angle in wrestling history, Hogan/Sting, at Starrcade. Despite running for a year and a half, the nWo storyline continues to be one of the hottest in wrestling. And Bret Hart has come to down, adding to what is already arguably the greatest roster ever assembled.

And yet, there is trouble just beneath the gilded surface. Egos run amok in the backstage, as aging veterans cling to their top spots while younger stars try to break through the glass ceiling. A feeling of ennui is in danger of settling in, as the nWo continues to run its course, with no apparent direction forward. Bischoff's goal is to find that direction, and maybe even put the final nail in the coffin to the McMahon family legacy.

http://pwtorch.com/artman2/uploads/3/HeymanPaul_210WK.jpg

For Paul Heyman, the owner and booker of Extreme Championship Wrestling, the goal is not world domination, but rather to stay afloat. ECW's revolutionary content and wrestling are all the rage to a devoted and growing legion of fans. The promotion is always seeming to make strides towards mainstream acceptance, as rumors of a television deal seem not too far off.

And yet, the constant need for hardcore athletes to one up each other may soon take its toll. Then there's the financial side of things. ECW isn't swimming with money, and it seems anytime someone gets big enough, one of the big two comes sniffing around and gobbles them up. Yet things are looking bright for ECW's future, if Heyman can manage the business and creative side of things successfully.

For all three men, the goal is simple: survive or be conquered in this dog eat dog world of professional wrestling. The history of American Wrestling is going to change, and whether these three know it or not their fates will be inexorably tied together. They are the figureheads of this new pop culture movement; the faces of its growth and change. They are, the Great Triumvirate of wrestling.

The song ends and a moments silence is observed, before a new entrance theme (Eminem – Lose Yourself) is played through the arena. Out walks Paul Heyman to out an outstanding reaction from the crowd. He walks down to the ring with his signature trench coat and baseball cap emblazoned with TNA’s logo. He enters the ring and starts to speak:

Paul Heyman: My name is Paul E! Heyman!” The fans erupt into a raucous applaud for the man they see as the potential saviour of TNA. “Did you expect anybody else!? “ The fans stand in utter dismay as rumour had it; TNA had been approached by WWE in the aim of a buyout. “My name is Paul E. Heyman! I am the new owner of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling! I am the new owner, booker and take this as a promise. I AM the man in charge! Don’t believe me?” The fans slightly turn on the confrontational stance of Paul. “If you don’t believe me then take a look at this!!!!:”

Paul screams down the microphone and a video is played on the screen, it shows Paul handing termination papers to a selection of talents just days before the PPV which is airing now.

In that list includes:

Dixie Carter

Chris Melendez

Andrew Everett

Extreme Tiger

Jay Bradley

Mahabali Shera

Shima Xion

Amongst other names.

Paul Heyman is showing that he is all walk and some talk and the fans respond in kind to the former ECW booker, but they sit in awe as he takes to the microphone again.

Paul Heyman: “You see, I want to put out the best product I can. For you! The fans of TNA Wrestling who have been a second thought for too long and I promise you that tonight you will see a fresh product from TNA and Slammiversary will be a milestone in this company! But I promise you, I will not go all “Hollywood” on you and bring in just anyone of name value because they are available. I mean it when I say, this is not a restart or rebrand, but THIS IS THE START OF... TOTAL NONSTOP ACTION!!! This is HAPPENING AND IT’s HAPPENING NOW!!!!!!”

The camera pans around the arena and fades to black...

Okay so back in TEW 2013 I had a project started off that I was really looking forward to, that project was CV97 The East Coast Wars where I'd control DAVE, RPW, XFW and PPPW using a documentary style where key people from the war would do interviews reflecting on what was happening in that time period. Honestly, the booking I was doing wasn't amazing but I liked the dynamic and thought I could make a successful diary out of it. Unfortunately, or fortunately, TEW16 was announced and I lost all interest in continuing a diary knowing I'd want to start a new one once the new game was out, so I abandoned it.

Now TEW16 is here, I have a DAVE 2007 diary that I'm really enjoying (maybe shameless plug, but sure :p). However, I have the urge to make another diary, just for something fresh away from the DAVE 2007 scenario. Of course this second diary would be exactly that, a secondary diary as DAVE 07 would be my main focus.

However, seems CV97 is out for TEW16, I've gone through it, still love the data, I've thought back to the East Coast Wars and thought maybe I could have another go, but this time go for an even bigger project.

As many know, CV97 is a time where "Wars" are the very centre of the database. The Tuesday Night Wars (SWF and HGC) and The East Coast Wars (DAVE, RPW, XFW and PPPW) are just starting and are hugely important in the data. So I was thinking that I could do a diary about these Wars very similar to the East Coast Wars diary I had started in TEW13 but this time with 6 promotions, more interviews about what was happening and not only how each company was fairing in their War against their rivals but also how the Wars intertwined and affected all these companies. It would be a massive project and well, would take ages to even get in the groove of it all.

My question is would it all be worth it? 6 companies would probably equal more than 10 shows a month which is a lot to write, but I could get around this. Would people be interested in reading this? Would it take away too much from my main diary? Give me your thoughts on this, I'd really appreciate it.

Especially if you are doing non-show related interview segments from the characters that were involved in your shows. You are looking at about what fourteen shows for an in-game month plus your outside interview segments.

If you were going to tackle something like that I would either make the six promotion diary your main diary or I would make the show write-ups for the six promotion diary more results based. Just post what the game says instead of doing match write-ups. I know I would get burned out by doing such a project but if it is something you want to do, I say go for it.

Another thing you could do is look for someone to write with you. Granted those types of diaries tend to fizzle out fast (Honestly besides TFC's WWF dairy I am not sure I can name one that has lasted anything beyond a couple of months.). Working with someone could be tough but if you found the right person it could be doable.

You would probably lose that documentary feel, if you do a straight up dynasty with six promotions.

HYPE: Empire Promotion-Music Industry Take Over Pro Wrestling

Hi Everyone,

I am about to start today working on a music industry mod/dynasty, Empire Wrestling Federation is going to invade the pro wrestling world and try to take-over and put WWE, TNA, ROH and Others out of business. This will have all the big name hip hop names in it. EWF will have a lot of capital starting out and a lot of power and the highest popularity. WWE, TNA and ROH Is coming together and for an alliance to try to survive! EWF and It's Rappers are looking to conquer the wrestling world in this hostile takeover. If it get the hype that I want I will go ahead and continue doing this. Your thoughts?

I'm curious what the expected/common Diary update regularity is.

I'd like to restart a diary idea I tried before on a different site, but last time I tried to do 1 entry a day and crashed when I couldn't keep up the pace. Is posting one show a week frequent enough to keep people satisfied?

I think it is okay as long as you are upfront up how often you are going to post. You may not get as many people reading, but as long as you are telling the story you want, you should have more fun. :)

I usually try to go three or four days on a normal show and longer on a pay-per-view/big event. As long as the readers are interested in your story, they will be there. Good luck!

Polling the people real quick (and I think a whole new thread just for a temporary poll is pretentious)

What would garner the most interest, feel free to let me know:

9000-Verse Comic Book Characters (Marvel/DC) only diary that would flow more like a fantasy comics mash-up than a wrestling diary.

A Local-to-Global present day diary.

A PWG diary set slightly in the future.

A ROH diary set slightly in the future.

Any other suggestions? I'm waiting for a complete 2000s mod before I back up in time, so please don't say "too many present day diaries."

Thanks in advance :)
