Odobenus Angle Pack v. 2.0 HYPE THREAD

THE ODOBENUS ANGLE PACK 2.0

I released an angle pack for TEW 2013, and I'll be doing significant updates/changes/ease-of-use upgrades for 2016. I've been using this angle pack since I started playing TEW and it's saved me so much time over the years.

What is it?

This is a small, simple angle pack that I believe can meet almost every need in the game with minimal cloning and changing. I've used it for my own games since I got TEW and decided to finally share it.

Why should I download it?

The goal is to eliminate redundancies in the default angles (i.e. three different kinds of interview angle) while making angle descriptions as self-explanatory as possible and streamlining the process of using what workers do best.

How many angles are there?

Yet to be determined; probably around 100 (there are around 25-30 distinct angles with multiple versions that rate workers on different things).

Hang on. You can't do everything with 25-30 angles, can you?

No, but you can do a lot. I don't separate most angles that are mechanically the same--in other words, a brawl in-ring and a brawl backstage will be the same angle, Brawl - 1 vs. 1. All you need to do is find the version that rates workers on what you want—for example, Brawl 1 vs. 1 has versions that rate both workers on overness, one on overness and one on menace, both on menace, or both on sex appeal.

How are the angles sorted?

An example: you'll find Argument - 1 vs. 1 v. 1 (2 Ent.), Argument - 1 vs. 1 v. 2 (1 Ent. 1 Men.) and Argument 1 vs. 1 v. 3 (2 Men.) One rates both workers on entertainment, one rates one on Entertainment and one on Menace, and one rates both on Menace. Want to find a promo, an interview, a brawl, an attack and save? Just search for it. They're intuitively named (I think).

I have a criticism!

Wonderful! This will be an updated version of the only mod I’ve ever released and I'd love feedback. Post it in this thread and I'll read it, or PM me. If you really hate it and just want to insult me, that’s fine too!

I actually like this! Can I use it in my mod?

Sure thing! Add to it, subtract from it (if 25-30 different angles is too many for you), release it with your mod or savegame, simply re-release it on another site, send it to your mother as a birthday present. Just give me credit, please.

When can I get it?

The pack will be released next Monday, the day of the full game release.

I don't understand the name!

The Latin name for a walrus is odobenus rosmarus. I thought it was funny.

Don't want to be slightly off-topic here, but where can we find this pack for the 2013 game? I'd love to try it out!

Keep in mind that it's dramatically expanded/improved/actually has commentary and better names for angles and stuff. Don't judge the 2016 version off this one except to get a feel for the basic structure.

With that said, the link to the 2013 version is below.

I've got a bit of feedback, actually. Maybe it's just going to take some getting used to, but so far I find the angle names very visually confusing. "1 vs 1 v 1" -- it's the version number that keeps slowing me down. Do you need that? I think the little parentheses with (2 ent) or whatever is enough to distinguish between angles.

So it'd be, for instance: 1 vs. 1 (2 ent)

Instead of: 1 vs. 1 v. 1 (2 ent)

Maybe I'll edit in my game and report back!

Anyway, great idea, very happy with the streamlining overall. Thanks for the work!

Thanks for making the mod. Much appreciated.

How would one go about installing/adding this?

On the main screen of TEW, go to "Editor," then create a new database (I call mine "Angles," but you can call it whatever you want). Quit TEW, extract the file from Mediafire, paste it over the TEW2016.mdb in the "Angles" file under "Databases" in your main TEW 16 file. Start TEW up again, go back to the Default (or whatever other) database, head to the editor, and import the angles.

You know, that's a super helpful piece of feedback. I felt it made it more consistent--i.e. it'd be super clear that the second version is always 1 ent. and 1 menace--but I see your point. If anyone else brings this up, I'll go through and change the names. I'm glad you like it overall tho.

Thanks for all the downloads. Hope it's serving people well.

<p>Hi! Been looking for some TEW 2016 Angle packs/mods and this is the only one I've come across.</p><p> </p><p>

I just started a game with a 2005 Real World DB and as YOU can imagine, the WWE roster is immense.....but the default angles just don't do it justice. They're all very basic and repetitive and I can't even seem to see simple angles such as Triple Threat ones, or in-ring promos/backstage interviews being interrupted.</p><p> </p><p>

Does this mod remedy some of that? Desperately needing more variety and range in the angles!</p>

I have to agree that the V1 v2 etc does make it a little confusing on the eye but overall from what ive seen and used its a great addon

This mod is definitely worth a look because of the depth it does have and the simplicity of it. ive found that its allowed me to get to grips with Free style angles better but using it which then gives you unlimited (well nearly) potential for the game with regards to angles

The appeal of this pack is the small number of angles and their clear labelling/ease of use. Give it a shot and see if you like it. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Only thing i have changed for my own usage is this, I am going through each angle and cutting out the current commentary and pasting it into the angle description. The commentaries are perfectly written for the descriptions, aside from the naming formulas. It does leave the commentary blank, but that is fine with me as i exclusively clone these angles and fill in the commentary with a summary of the events within that particular segment. Other than that, right out of the zip, this is one of my favorite angle system ive tried, other than straight up using rhenangle writer, or now the option of the freelance writer.

Then you would go into the database that you want to add to and import the angles into it from the other database.</p>
