The light and render settings make a huge difference to G & G2 figures. They work for g3 figures too but there's a trade off there where you lose all those translucency things that g3 has that makes skin look more natural - in a small size pic like the TEW ones that's okay though as the slightly exagerated more cartoony/comic booky look works better at that size.

You can see a huge difference in both of brats and bisons renders straight away with the settings - which look great guys. Thanks again shipshirt, will0rock, jsilver and everybody else who has been so helpful to everyone who are experimenting with ways to render.

<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2017_04/AgnescloseTEW.jpg.0ae73e614a6f2c4b52d4caeab7cf77a9.jpg" data-fileid="3290" data-fileext="jpg" rel=""><img data-fileid="3290" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="AgnescloseTEW.jpg.0ae73e614a6f2c4b52d4caeab7cf77a9.jpg" data-src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2017_04/AgnescloseTEW.jpg.0ae73e614a6f2c4b52d4caeab7cf77a9.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Also, I can confirm that the setting work with V4 and M4 (as that's pretty much what I've been working with almost exclusively lately).

Also using Jsilver's lightning and though the renders tak a LOT longer the results are indeed significantly better

I think rendering time depends very much on what assets you are using for any particular setting. If you are using a g3 figure with both 3D and iray options and you choose the 3d options and use the TEW settings it seems to run quicker than with the iray choices - I imagine that because it needs to convert certain things to the other format. It all still works fine but probably at a slower pace.

When using the light presets with Uberenvironment lighting, adjusting that light setting (it's normally at 30%) can help a lot too. For some skin textures, I will turn it down to 25% or even 20% and it gives it a much more skin-like tone. Some I will turn it up on. For super complex hair, you can always turn off the Cast Shadows under Display if the render is taking too long for your tastes. That will cut it down significantly.

Basically all of this is a lot of trial and error and personal taste <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

I will definitely have to try that. I'm still navigating through all the ins and outs trying to find a set style I am comfortable with that I can reproduce consistently. I really appreciate all the advice Shared here though.

Can't really place those. Are they rerenders?

I agree that it's a lot of trial and error, but if it sometimes takes an hour to 'try' a specific setting (while you can't do anything else on your pc) it's not really worth it imo. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Thanks for the pointers on lowering that rendering time.

Decided to give rerendering Steel another try. He was my first homegrown star in my first save as SWF back in 2010 so I guess I've always had a soft spot for him lol I might play with skin tone later and see if I can't get him a bit more of a tan but for now here he is in all of his muscular, nearly useless glory lol
