BHOTWG- A Step To The West

BHOTWG Heads West With New Hire- Failure or Genius?

By Malcolm Parent

BHOTWG has hired Nigel Alexander, out of Seattle, WA who ran a successful booking blog. Owner Tetsuzan Kaneko said that in order to fully comply with the Modern Japanese Movement they needed a true westerner to book the shows. JWI sat down with new booker, Nigel Alexander

JWI: Nigel, what made you accept the BHOTWG booking position first of all?

Nigel Alexander: As an American, or westerner as you prefer, I am sick of the garbage of wrestling on TV. Wrestling is an athletic endeavor combined with an artistic art form. Instead you have companies like SWF, TCW, and USPW running these silly characters and storylines. Japanese wrestling is a lot more serious and legit, which I love. However business dictates America, or the West, is doing something right.

JWI: I think we can all expect changes. The schedule has already changed, what's next?

NA: Speaking to the schedule change, it really is not different from what most of Japan is going through with the Modern movement. Tours were great back in the day when people could not watch online, or DVR shows. It is so easy to follow wrestling these days there are no point to highlight shows or crammed in schedules. A nice easy once a week, year round product has proven to work in the West.

JWI: Back to the original question, but thank you for elaborating, what do you see changing to match the West? Should we expect a massive change?

NA: Not at all. Actually, I plan to change very little. We will let our athletic competitors showcase their personally a little more but will not be creating fake clowns or police man gimmicks for them. It will all be authentic. The only change for now is you will see angles during our programming instead of 100% wrestling, since even given a few minutes can really help characters grow.

JWI: Thank you for the quick interview Nigel, we will be following the changes closely.

In a crowd building exciting four way match, Barei Yasujurio defeated Enomoto, Hiraki, and Maeda.

Rating: C

"Great first match from the guys! I thought Enomoto or Hiraki would pull away with it but you can't underestimate the sneaky veteran experience of Bairei. Let's move on to our next match in the tag team division with Toshitala & keith vs. Kurofuji and Shimakage.

"Double T" Tatsuya Toshitala and Matthew Keith vs. Haru Kurofuji & Ieyoshi Shimakage- Heavyweight division

In a match that did not see a whole lot of competition Tshotiala & Keith were victorious after hitting the Power-Breaker.

Rating: C-

"No surprise in that match. Double T and Keith are becoming great friends a fine young tag team. Future stars for sure here in Burning! Time now for a great one on one match!

Heihachiro Sakai vs. Mitsunari Fugunaga- Heavyweight Division

http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r461/jester_x7769/BHOTWG/Heihachiro%20Sakai_zpsumb00t6o.jpg vs http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r461/jester_x7769/BHOTWG/Mitsunari%20Fugunaga_zpsvcbftjjn.jpg

In a great competitive back and forth match Heihachiro Sakai defeated mitsunari Fugunaga.

Rating: C

Wow it looks like we might be seeing a changing of the guards herein Burning! Sakai looks like another future start of the company with a great feather in his cap from Fugunaga. Up next is one of my personal favorite competitors, Marihito Masuko! I just love the in ring flair and charisma, and his opponent MYSTIC Dragon brings just as much to the table!

Marihito Masuko vs. MYSTIC Dragon- Junior Division

In a phenomenal in ring effort by both competitors Marihito Masuko defeated MYSTIC Dragon to great cheers of a fired up crowd.

Rating: B

Kinnojo Horri vs. Yasuhiko Taira- Heavyweight Division

In a match that saw Kinnojo Horri using his technical expertise over Taira until...

The rest of the NEO stable came down to interfere! As the referee checked on an apparent Taira shoulder injury, NEO went to work on Horri! Thank god the referee quickly saw them and kicked them out and was about to call the match a disqualification when Horri was able to pin Taira out of no where!

Rating: B-

"Wow what has gotten into NEO!? Wanting to win is one thing but outside interfering in a match is totally unacceptable! Let's cut to commercial.

Backstage Attack Angle

Backstage NEO ambush Horri with a vicious three on one attack! NEO has completely laid him out when Masaaki Okasazki and Tatsauku Iesada come in to save the day and scare NEO off!

Rating: B-

"I cannot believe what is going on here with NEO! They seem determined to make a rise in Burning no matter what. In case we didn't have enough violence already, Khoklov is about to make his return...

Marat Khoklov vs. Tadakuni Toshusai- Heavyweight Division

In a relatively short match Marat Kholov defeated Toshusai by throwing him through the center of the ring...literally.

Rating: C

"Wow Kholov just powerbombed him straight the ring with a giant roar! I think it's certainly safe to say he is back and means business. Up next is arguably the most important match of the night- the #1 contenders match!

Hiroaki Nakasawa vs. Eisaku Hoshino- Heavyweight Division

Unfortunately the two workers just do not have chemistry and it was very evident to the fans. In a long, awkward match, Nakasawa ended up defeating Hoshino

Rating: C+

After match a victorious Nakasawa grabbed a mic to make the formal challenge to Kikkawa as per custom.

Rating: B

Tadiyuki Kikkawa vs. Buddy Garner- Heavyweight Division

In the main event of the evening Kikkawa defeated Garner

Thanks Stennick.

OOC Post:

I have never played a Japanese promotion before but having been playing the Cornellverse since 05. I thought this would be a good change for me instead of playing the same old promotions. Please do not expect this to be a 100% representation of what a puro japanese promotion should be.

Since the company is moving western, I figured this was a good time to take over. I have changed some small things, like angles (default was 100% matches) to make it more realistic. I'm not going to do silly gimmicks or add the face/heel divide, but I am going to give workers more character and let them shine.

The main reason the first show was written so light is because once I realized you couldn't go back and see in results match time or how a match was finished I lost all creative motivation and just wanted to finish the show like a chore.

In order to combat this, i am only going to do PPV Event write ups. Weekly TV shows will be summarized in a web article so you still get the buildup before a PPV. I think that is a good solution/compromise, I have the first month already planned and written so am excited to share some of my ideas

BHOTWG Lords of the Ring- January Week 3 Recap

By Malcolm Parent

After an average card last week set up by some big surprises like Buddy Garner and Marat Khokolov returning, this show blew me expectations away!

First, here is the quick results with my own match ratings:

Tadiyuki Kikkawa and Eisaku Hoshino defeated Buddy Garner and Hioaki Nakasawa: A

Koshiro Ino defeated Tasuku Iesada (with interference from NEO and Guardians Bushido): A

Marihito Masuko defeated Shimedzu and Bairei Yasujiro: B-

Kokan & Konda defeated Toju Munkata and Tsuneyo Yanagimoto: C+

The Vanguard (Ieyoshi Shimakage and Taro Shionoya) defeated Shibanumo & Yuasa: C

Helikaon defeated Jin Miyamot, Murai Enomoto, and Reijiro Hiraki: E

American Panther defeated Kiyaru & Scorpion and Shiomi & Venom: C

Toshitala & Keith defeated Samoan Destruction Inc.: C

Overall rating: A

Attendance: 13,572

5.77 TV Rating

Wow what a show overall!

Starting with the main event, we see the two opponents set to face each other at The Burning Path PPV later this month where Kikkawa faces Nakasawa and Hosnino faces Garner. There isn't much more fans could ask for here.

In the co-main event we saw NEO and Guardians of Bushido involve in even more action. At the Burning Path we will see Ino vs. Horri while Black Magic takes on the rest of the Guardians of Bushido.

We also saw plenty of action in the tag team division. Newly formed team Shimakage and Shionoya, The Vanguard, defeated the current tag champs in their very first match! Needless to say, Shibanumo & Yuasa, have enacted their re-match clause for the upcoming PPV.

We also saw the feared Samoan Destruction team debut, even if they did fall short to the Toshitala and Keith team.

In the Junior division, Masuko picked up another victory on his quest back to the title and BHOTWG management have confirmed to us he will get his shot against Sensational Dragon at this month's PPV.

- Inside sources have confirmed to us that both Garner and Khokolov are working on limited contracts. The sole aim of slow building a trilogy rubber match between Khokolov and Kikkawa

- There has been talk that new booker Nigel Alexander is not please with many of the veterans on the roster. While they have earned the company and fans respect, their in ring ability is diminishing and he would like to demote them sooner rather than later to help build up new workers in their child promotion

- Speaking of youngsters, the company has recently signed many new young stars. However we have yet to receive confirmation on who exactly, and what the future is.

Plus BHOTWG has given us the privelage of releasing the FIRST view of The Burning Path PPV Card.

January PPV The Burning Path Card, Friday Week 4 :

Tadiyuki Kikkawa vs. Hioaki Nakasawa- World championship match

Sensational Dragon vs. Marihito Masuko- Junior championship match

Eisaku Hoshino vs. Buddy Garner- #1 Contender match for World title

Koshiro Ino vs. Kinnojo Horri

Yasuhiko Taira & Yasunobu Masuno vs. Masaaki Okazaki & Tasuku Iesada

Ieyoshi Shimakage & Taro Shionoya (The Vanguard) vs. Shibanumo & Yuasa- Tag Team title

Fatal Fourway to Crown King of Fighters Champion

Matthew Keith vs. Tatsuya Toshitala vs. The Awesome Kiyaru vs. Shimedzu
