Weekly News Update - Week 1, August 2001

WCW are reportedly in the final stages of negotiating a contract for a B-Show, to primarily feature undercard wrestlers who haven’t received much TV time in the past two months. With Saturday Night no longer the uncertain proposition it once was, it seems a reasonably safe bet that a WCW B-Show will perform modestly dependent on the time-slot secured.

Ohio Valley Wrestling is said to be running try-out camps for female wrestlers in the coming weeks. Both sex appeal and in-ring work will be considered, with the possibility that the best candidates could eventually find their way onto the WWF or WCW rosters. WCW has never really succeeded in maintaining a viable women’s division, whereas the WWF has had successes and failures historically. Most recently, the WWF’s attempt to build around Chyna as their new Women’s Champion has hit a snag over political and financial issues — the WWF Women’s Championship has not been defended since mid-May, and Chyna has been taken off TV until further notice.

WCW Saturday Night - Week 1, August 2001

Dark Matches:

The Dynasty & Randy Orton beat Lash LeRoux, Cash & Nick Dinsmore [developmental tryout] (50)

Jason Jett & Air Raid beat Dave Taylor, Johnny the Bull & Reno (51)

Angle: Booker T’s championship address (96)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Booker%20T_zpssx8il2jn.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Raven%204_zpsmnr2wxw3.jpg

Booker T is out first, and he congratulates both Eddy Guerrero and DDP for their performances last night: “But I’m still the WCW Heavyweight Champion, and both of y’all have to go to the back of the line, ya feel me?” Booker is about to address his future plans, when Raven’s music hits, and the No. 1 Contender strolls slowly down to the ring, staring the champion down the whole time.

Raven speaks: “What I did to Kanyon will look like nothing compared to what I’ll do to you, Book. I -liked- Chris, but I still left him laying and sent him to hospital, to teach him a lesson about taking opportunities. I liked Chris, but I don’t like you one damn bit, Champ — quote the Raven nevermore.”

Booker snorts, responding: “Yeah, I saw what you did last night, dog. Seein’ how you can only steal pins and backstab friends, it’s lucky we ain’t friends — and when we fight, you ain’t stealing jack from me, sucka. But first, you got to survive Page tonight, and I hear he ain’t -one bit- happy about what you pulled with Kanyon. Now can you dig that, Sucka?!” Raven glowers as Booker leaves, looking happy and confident.

Chuck Palumbo vs Dean Malenko - 10:00 (76)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Chuck%20Palumbo_zpsycvvshzr.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Dean%20Malenko_zpsxxurrxce.jpg

Palumbo’s leg is still taped up, and he spends the early part of the match fending off Malenko, who tries to go after the wounded limb like a shark who smells water. Dean softens up the leg by slamming it against the ring-post, and eventually forces Palumbo to submit yet again to the Texas Cloverleaf. Malenko ratchets the hold even after the bell rings, dealing more punishment and leaving Palumbo unable to walk out under his own power.

Winner: Dean Malenko

Christopher Daniels vs Norman Smiley - 6:00 (61)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Christopher%20Daniels_zpsp95iqwhj.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Norman%20Smiley_zpsqrirg7bn.jpg

Christopher Daniels is in a foul mood tonight, and he nearly throws a fit when Smiley continually gets the better of him. When Smiley does the Big Wiggle, Daniels is so incensed that he lunges for his opponent and gets caught in a crossface chickenwing, from which he’s forced to tap out!

Winner: Norman Smiley

Angle: A Sinister Arrival (43)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Christopher%20Daniels_zpsp95iqwhj.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/James%20Vandenburg_zpsy7ecbgvp.jpg

Christopher Daniels is beside him backstage after yet another loss. A figure emerges from the dark, placing a clawed hand on Daniels’ shoulder. “Victory is a matter of belief, and your faith has become weak, oh Fallen Angel,” James Mitchell says.

WCW Cruiserweight Trios Championship: Jung Dragons © vs XXY - 8:00 (65)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Kaz%20Hayashi_zps768fz2pd.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Yun%20Yang_zpswvffbmnj.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Yoshihiro%20Tajiri_zpshti5ou0b.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/cwtrios_zpsbytujru8.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Elix%20Skipper_zps7ael5m7v.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Kid%20Romeo_zpszpshi4li.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Kwee%20Wee_zpsgnkvkwzx.jpg

In a rematch from PPV, XXY begin the match arguing over who should start the match. Skipper eventually begins, working on Kaz Hayashi in the early stages of the bout. Hayashi makes the hot tag to Yang who runs wild with high-flying offense, taking out all three of his opponents. In the end, Kwee Wee blind-tags Romeo when he’s about to deliver the Last Kiss to a prone Tajiri, wanting the glory for himself — Tajiri wriggles out, catches both men with Buzzsaw Kicks, and covers Kwee Wee for the pin.

Winner: Jung Dragons

Angle: XXY no more (34)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Elix%20Skipper_zps7ael5m7v.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Kid%20Romeo_zpszpshi4li.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Kwee%20Wee_zpsgnkvkwzx.jpg

As the Jung Dragons celebrate yet another victory, Elix Skipper and Kid Romeo bicker with each other. Kwee Wee stops them and pulls them in for a big hug — which is a big mistake! Skipper and Romeo deck Kwee Wee and stomp a mudhole in him. This partnership appears to be over!

Hugh Morrus vs Eddy Guerrero - 12:00 (70)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Hugh%20Morrus_zpsmc2y7azt.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Eddy%20Guerrero_zpsdxzst5kp.jpg

Guerrero is antsy early, taking down Morrus with aggressive, hard-hitting offense. Morrus starts to rally, but Eddy rolls the big man up, his feet on the ropes. Eddy Guerrero has scored a pinfall over the United States Champion!

Winner: Eddy Guerrero

No. 1 Contender to WCW World Tag Team Championships: Team Canada vs Steve Corino & Crowbar vs KroniK vs Mark Jindrak & Mike Sanders - 10:00 (70)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Lance%20Storm_zpse9m2gxhf.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mike%20Awesome_zpsodanyixf.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Steve%20Corino_zpsygtipuas.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Crowbar_zps6tk65odi.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Brian%20Adams_zps8txes64b.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Bryan%20Clark_zpsymprtd6l.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mark%20Jindrak_zpsxcaxveef.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mike%20Sanders_zpszscal8ch.jpg

Team Canada control the ring in the early going, with frequent tags in and out as they work on Crowbar. Sanders blind-tags Awesome to pick the bones, but Crowbar makes a comeback and makes the hot tag to Corino, who clears house. An all-out melee soon breaks out between all four teams, but in the end it’s KroniK hitting a double chokeslam to Sanders and scoring the win, as Team Canada, Crowbar and Corino brawl outside the ring.

Winner: New No. 1 Contender for WCW World Tag Team Championships, KroniK

Angle: Bad Attitude (54)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mark%20Jindrak_zpsxcaxveef.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mike%20Sanders_zpszscal8ch.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/BillyKidmankyky_zpsv3ejofoa.jpg

Mark Jindrak & Mike Sanders are backstage, huffing about their loss in the four-way dance. They come across Billy Kidman talking on a cell-phone — Sanders nudges Jindrak nonchalantly, and the pair assault him for no reason! Sanders spies the Cruiserweight Championship on the ground and decides to steal it: “And your NEW WCW Cruiserweight Champion of the Wooooorld, Above Average Mike Sanders!”

Sean O’Haire vs Perry Saturn - 10:00 (78)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Sean%20OHaire_zpseth8qhqk.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Perry%20Saturn_zps4q1oq0yk.jpg

O’Haire goes after Saturn from the bell, peppering him with strikes. Saturn attempts to create some distance by rolling outside, but O’Haire is hot on his heels and continues the brawl at the ringside area. Saturn attempts to cause a DQ by grabbing the World Tag Team title belt and swinging it at his opponent, but O’Haire dodges, throws Saturn back in the ring, and after a handful of power moves hits the Seanton Bomb off the top rope in a definitive victory.

Winner: Sean O’Haire

Angle: Unexpected Help (79)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Sean%20OHaire_zpseth8qhqk.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Perry%20Saturn_zps4q1oq0yk.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Dean%20Malenko_zpsxxurrxce.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Brian%20Adams_zps8txes64b.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Bryan%20Clark_zpsymprtd6l.jpg

Holding Saturn in a half-nelson, O’Haire taunts Malenko: “You may have hurt my tag partner, but I’m gonna hurt yours.” Malenko rushes down to ringside concerned, when Saturn sneaks a low-blow to escape his predicament. The tag champs take turns assaulting O’Haire until KroniK’s music hits, and the new No. 1 Contenders rush to the ring and clear house!

Raven vs Diamond Dallas Page - 12:00 (77)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Raven%204_zpsmnr2wxw3.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.pnghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Diamond%20Dallas%20Page_zpsfca71kzu.jpg

DDP is in no mood for his usual signature taunts and playing to the crowd, clearly angry at Raven for his actions towards Kanyon. The match opens with a wild brawl, both men exchanging shots until Raven thumbs Page in the eye and begins wearing him down. DDP rallies back into the match as the crowd cheer him on, pelting his opponent in the corner with frenzied blows. The referee tries to separate them after reaching the count of five, but takes a bump as Raven pushes DDP backwards into him.

The brawl continues when Rob Van Dam runs down to ringside, steel chair in hand, and nails DDP square in the head with a chairshot. DDP staggers, then RVD throws the chair at him and delivers the Van Daminator! Page is out, and as the referee begins to come to, Van Dam scurries outside with the chair and Raven covers Page for another stolen victory.

Winner: Raven

Angle: Extreme Beatdown: DDP Edition (85)

http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Raven%204_zpsmnr2wxw3.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Rob%20Van%20Dam_zpsmhyyegx2.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Diamond%20Dallas%20Page_zpsfca71kzu.jpghttp://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Booker%20T_zpssx8il2jn.jpg

As soon as the ref raises Raven’s hand, Van Dam is back in the ring. Raven gives RVD a smirk, and the two shake hands before both stomping a mudhole in DDP. Raven positions the chair on the ground, and is about to give Page the same Evenflow DDT onto the chair that took out Kanyon when Booker T rushes to ringside, clearing the ring of both men! Booker glares at a retreating Raven as the show goes off the air.

Show rating: 81

P.S. Added the starting roster minus Rule 12 and Rule 6 signings to the first post, if anyone gets curious over how far things have developed thus far. Looking at that roster again sort of makes me want to do an Extreme Hard Mode WCW 2001 with no signings whatsoever. :D

<strong>Weekly News Update - Week 2, August 2001</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Chavo Guerrero Jr. is expected back from injury anytime soon. Jamie Knoble is still out for the time being.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WCW Saturday Night - Week 2, August 2001</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Dark Matches:</strong></p><p>

Air Raid, Jason Jett, Cash & Kwee Wee beat Elix Skipper, Kid Romeo, Randy Orton & The Dynasty (54)</p><p>

Jung Dragons (Kaz Hayashi & Yang) beat Johnny the Bull & Reno (59)</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: Raven’s Nest (100)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Raven%204_zpsmnr2wxw3.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Booker%20T_zpssx8il2jn.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

The ring is set up for Raven’s Nest, and its host sits on a stool in the middle of the ring: “Ladies and gentlemen, I am a man—“ Raven has barely opened his mouth when Booker T’s music hits, and the WCW World Heavyweight Champion strides down to the ring, getting in Raven’s face. “Yo, I ain’t got time for this crap. You ain’t no man, you’re a crook — and a no good sucka. You stole a win against Kanyon, last week you stole another against Page. You ain’t proven nothing to me, dog.”</p><p> </p><p>

Raven looks mildly disinterested at Booker, sneering: “I did not invite you as my guest on Raven’s Nest tonight. But since you so rudely interrupted me, perhaps I am a crook. I never claimed to be a good man, I was never one to resist temptation or refuse an opportunity. Believe me, I didn’t tell Rob Van Dam to get involved last week, that’s his own business. But a win is a win, and it doesn’t matter how I’ll beat you, Book — I -will- beat you, and I -will- become the WCW— AGH!” </p><p> </p><p>

Booker drops Raven with a right hand, causing him to take a dramatic bump from the stool, then the Champ hits the ropes and delivers the Axe Kick! Booker grabs the mic, getting in the face of his downed opponent: “How’s that for taking opportunities, man? Now can you dig that, Sucka?!”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Shane Helms vs Yoshihiro Tajiri w/ Kaz Hayashi & Yang - 8:00 (64)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Shane%20Helms_zpsa1omucvp.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.png</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Yun%20Yang_zpswvffbmnj.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

In a stiff but fun match, Helms and Tajiri are evenly matched until Tajiri locks in the Tarantula, Helms stuck in the ropes. The referee orders Tajiri to release the hold, and as he loosens the pressure, Helms powers him into the middle of the ring in perfect position for a Vertebreaker! Kaz Hayashi and Tajiri at ringside are shocked.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner: Shane Helms</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: Getting the Band Back Together (66)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Shane%20Helms_zpsa1omucvp.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Shannon%20Moore_zps2iykwdl6.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Evan%20Karagias_zpsiamkvklt.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Backstage, Shannon Moore & Evan Karagias are excitedly congratulating Shane Helms on his victory. “That’s one of the Trios champs! We could beat them, the three of us,” Moore exclaims. Helms thinks it over, then agrees: “Alright. The band is back together.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: KRONIK SPEAK, YEAH (69)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Gene%20Okerlund%202_zpsini3f2io.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Brian%20Adams_zps8txes64b.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Bryan%20Clark_zpsymprtd6l.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Gene Okerlund is with the No. 1 Contenders for the WCW World Tag Team Championships, KroniK. He asks if they have any words for the champions, and Adams and Clark deliver a loud, unintelligible promo that nonetheless sounds very menacing.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Rob Van Dam vs Lash LeRoux - 10:00 (73)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Rob%20Van%20Dam_zpsmhyyegx2.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.png</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Lash%20LeRoux_zpsl3xgf7yl.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

A showcase match for Rob Van Dam, who cockily dismantles LeRoux with the greatest of ease. The match never looks close, but Van Dam draws it out as he catches Lash with a succession of signature spots, before ending it with the Five Star Frog Splash.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner: Rob Van Dam</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: R… V… BANG! (79)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Rob%20Van%20Dam_zpsmhyyegx2.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Diamond%20Dallas%20Page_zpsfca71kzu.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Rob Van Dam is celebrating in the ring, when DDP’s music hits and a pissed-off Page strides down to ringside. As he gets in the ring, RVD beats a hasty retreat, taunting him: “Too slow, old man.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: Another Defection? (74)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Shane%20McMahon_zpsywl3l26v.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Shane McMahon is in his office, talking on his cell phone: “Right, we’re on for next Saturday… yeah. I’ll find you a good opponent.” He ends the call and turns to the camera, announcing that yet another WWF talent is making the jump. “This man will be debuting next week on WCW Saturday Night, and I promise you — he’s the Real Deal.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Lance Storm w/ Mike Awesome vs Steve Corino w/ Crowbar & Daffney - 16:00 (77)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Lance%20Storm_zpse9m2gxhf.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.png</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Steve%20Corino_zpsygtipuas.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

A long technical match that involves as much action outside the ring as inside. Awesome lays out Crowbar, throwing him into the barricades, then grabs Daffney — Corino is distracted, and Storm superkicks in the back of the head. Corino goes down like he’s dead, and Storm wins.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner: Lance Storm</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: Stolen Property (56)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Gene%20Okerlund%202_zpsini3f2io.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mike%20Sanders_zpszscal8ch.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mark%20Jindrak_zpsxcaxveef.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Gene Okerlund is with Mike Sanders, who demands to be introduced as WCW Cruiserweight Champion. Mean Gene finally relents after Mark Jindrak grabs him by the collar. “Gene, if Billy Kidman wants a shot at -my- title, he can face me fair and square at Road Wild,” Sanders brags.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Billy Kidman & Norman Smiley vs Mark Jindrak & Mike Sanders (68)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/BillyKidmankyky_zpsv3ejofoa.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Norman%20Smiley_zpsqrirg7bn.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.png</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mike%20Sanders_zpszscal8ch.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Mark%20Jindrak_zpsxcaxveef.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Sanders comes out with the Cruiserweight Championship, entrusting it to the timekeeper. Kidman starts things off with Sanders, getting some well-deserved revenge and tossing him around the ring. Sanders is able to tag Jindrak in, who begins wearing down Kidman. Billy eventually makes the hot tag to Smiley, who briefly runs wild until Jindrak takes him out with a spinebuster. As soon as the ref counts three, Sanders grabs the title and flees before Kidman can get him.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner: Mark Jindrak & Mike Sanders</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Radicalz vs Hugh Morrus & Natural Born Thrillers (82)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Eddy%20Guerrero_zpsdxzst5kp.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Dean%20Malenko_zpsxxurrxce.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Perry%20Saturn_zps4q1oq0yk.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/wcwvs_zpsxl49on5w.png</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Hugh%20Morrus_zpsmc2y7azt.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Chuck%20Palumbo_zpsycvvshzr.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Sean%20OHaire_zpseth8qhqk.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

Morrus starts with a cocky Eddy, who soon pays for his overconfidence as the US Champion throws him around the ring. Guerrero tags out to a fresh Saturn, who works on Morrus until he can make the hot tag to Sean O’Haire. O’Haire runs wild, and the match breaks into a free for all with the referee frantically trying to regain order. In the end, Eddy takes a spill to the floor from a Hugh Morrus cactus clothesline, and Malenko takes a superkick from a visibly-limping Palumbo and a Seanton Bomb from O’Haire, who scores the pinfall.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Winner: Hugh Morrus & Natural Born Thrillers</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle: A Thrilling Challenge (85)</strong></p><p>

<span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Eddy%20Guerrero_zpsdxzst5kp.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Dean%20Malenko_zpsxxurrxce.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Perry%20Saturn_zps4q1oq0yk.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Chuck%20Palumbo_zpsycvvshzr.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Sean%20OHaire_zpseth8qhqk.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Brian%20Adams_zps8txes64b.jpg</span><span>http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/z459/kazkukat/WCW%202001/Bryan%20Clark_zpsymprtd6l.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p>

As the Radicalz lick their wounds on the ramp, O’Haire grabs a microphone and lays down a challenge for Malenko and Saturn’s tag team belts. They look reluctant to agree, but then KroniK’s music hits and Bryan Adams and Brian Clark come out on stage.</p><p> </p><p>

“WE’RE NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS FOR THE DUBYASEEDUBYA TAG CHAMPSHIP, YEAH. BUT WE NEVER BACK DOWN FROM A FIGHT — WE SAY LET’S DO IT, TRIPLE THREAT, PAY PER VIEW, YEAH.” Malenko and Saturn look horrified, stuck between two teams of hulking big men as the show goes off the air.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Show rating:</strong> 85</p>
